  • We enjoyed our third visit to The Cabin at Little Pitfield. Ray is always kind and helpful. The rural setting is beautiful even on a cold winter weekend and we found a good way marked walk just beyond the Sussex Oaks- the old pub on the corner. The welcome we are always given by the small friendly dogs is very special: the cat who came to call and stayed along with the white hen who decided to join us in the kitchen makes this a unique stay!! We look forward to seeing it all in the summertime. Thank you Keith and Dorothy Mountford

  • This was our second visit to The Cabin - we loved it so much the first time we had to stay again! It was just as lovely as the first time - clean and tidy and very homely - even more so with the little wood burner on! The Cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay with the added bonus of lots of cute animals running around outside :) The surrounding area is very peaceful and there's a nice farmer's market that can be reached on foot. Ray is a great host and The Cabin is highly recommended!

  • Ray's cabin is extremely lovely. It is in the middle of nowhere, meant in a positive way. It is decorated with attention to detail. Literally everything you could need is there. Clean and cosy. Before we arrived I thought not having wifi would bother me/us. In all truth, it was a blessing. Sitting outside in the sun with a book in this fantastic scenery: perfect! The lovely dogs and cats, the little ducklings in the pond: they made us feel at home immediately. The sheep and lama didn't give us much attention but it was fun looking at them anyway. There is nothing to improve here. This is as good as Airbnb gets. We were with two adults and two kids. Plenty of sleeping space. If one takes the couch, 5 easily could find a spot We highly recommend staying in the cabin. Especially if you like some quiet time or need a base to visit the wonderful Ashdown Forest like we planned. It is the birth ground of Pooh and friends and a bit like magic to us. .

  • The Cabin was a great place for us to explore the local attractions in Kent. It was lovely and cosy but also had enough space for all three of us. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. We got to meet all the animals which was the highlight of our daughters stay especially the visiting cats.

    Rebecca2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful short stay at the cabin. Myself, my sister and brother had a creative weekend away in the countryside, where we wanted to get away from everything and enjoy time cooking new meals, writing and drawing. My sister and I shared the double bedroom with en-suite, and our brother stayed in the mezzanine bedroom which he found very unique. The cabin is small but beautiful and the space is very ergonomic, so it felt concurrently very spacious (due to the high ceiling) and cosy. We used the log-fire in the evenings, which was lovely. There are very friendly cats, dogs and ducks in the grounds. Highly recommended!

    nicola2015-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A real countryside experience! We arrived to be greeted by a menagerie of animals including, dogs, cats, horse llamas and cute ducks and ducklings on the pond! Little Pitfields was a great little barn/cabin that has recently been very nicely decorated. It has a living area, kitchen/diner with dining table and a double bedroom with a en-suite with a fab shower. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend it.

    Emma2013-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical - it's the perfect getaway from London. As soon as I got there, I wished I had booked a week not two days. Will definitely be visiting again.

    Emma2014-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little cabin, beautifully fitted out. Really enjoyed our stay, wondering around the fields amongst the animals and catching loads of fish out the lake. We will be going back soon.

Arriving here is like arriving in a little part of heaven - what a magical place! Situated among the apple trees, the holiday cottage has it's own decking area with hot tub/bbq and fire pit, with the most fabulous views of the Kentish countryside.
The entrance to Little Oak is up the wooden stairs on the outside of the barn. The holiday accommodation is found on a single floor and encompasses the living/sitting room, kitchen, double bedroom and white tiled bathroom with hand basin, wc, bath and shower attachment. Little Oak is situated in the grounds of my house and although we have pets and children, we are respectful with your space. A great addition to Little Oak is the hot tub, which is for you to use during your stay and is available all year up til 8pm September til March and 9pm for the rest of the year. You have a beautiful hammock in the summer. On a warm summer evening the fire pit gives you that little extra bit of heat, so that you can sit outside and chat surrounded by nightlights and enjoy the night sounds. With a fabulous welcome pack to enjoy and countryside all around, this holiday cottage is ideal for a holiday or short break. Just take your book and relax in the shade of the garden or pack a small rucksack and enjoy exploring the many footpaths in the area. CHECK IN : 4pm CHECK OUT: 10am Its so peaceful and relaxing here, so ideal if your looking for a real break and need to re-charge your batteries…...
Its very peaceful here, perfect if you have a hectic life and want to unwind and relax, but we're also very fortunate to have lots to do on our doorstep, like Hever Castle, Penshurst Place, Groombridge Place, Lingfield Race Course..... as well as lots of lovely country pubs, like The Rock in Chiddingstone Hoath, The Bottle House in Penshurst, The Hatch in Colemans Hatch, The Dorset Arms in Withyham....
  • We thoroughly enjoyed spending our honeymoon at Little Oak with Pip as our host, and would definitely recommend it. Although a tad smaller than expected the apartment was cosy and we felt at home straight away. Pip had been kind enough to leave us a honeymoon themed welcome package for our arrival which included everything from fresh eggs to champagne. We weren't short of anything in the apartment, especially in the kitchen, which made our stay a lot less stressful as it meant we needn't worry about how we were going to cook everything! When we were short of the odd thing (for example kebab skewers!) Pip was more than accommodating to help us out. We would have appreciated knowing that the location of the apartment was directly opposite their house as this was unexpected upon our arrival, however, we were nicely surprised at the level of privacy maintained throughout the week despite this. We only came into contact with Pip and her family on a couple of occasions, and they were always friendly and lovely to talk to. Due to the density of leaves and trees in their garden, it definitely felt like we were in our own little private paradise. The hot tub was our favourite part of our stay, using it every day! Pip had it all ready for us when we arrived, and it was truly lush. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our experience and our honeymoon was perfect, thanks to all the effort Pip put in as a host. We would definitely recommend to other people, especially honeymooners.

    Dave & Elle2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic space, the hot tub was great and Pip was extremely friendly. My partner, dog and I had a great time. Pip was happy to guide us on local pubs and walks. We were also very surprised to find the apartment well stocked with local (approximately 20 metres away from the property) eggs! We returned from our stay well relaxed. Thank you!

    James2015-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Pip was such a kind and helpful host to us in our stay at Little Oak- a cute and cosy little nook where we could escape the wilds of the city and embrace the wilds of the nature surrounding, with our Doggy who was also made to feel welcome! Will be returning when the weather brightens up so we can take full advantage of facilities!

    Jessica2015-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, quiet and quaint. Relaxing and tranquil. Awesome words to describe Pips place. Pip was welcoming and understanding as our dog sitter had cancelled very last minute and I had forgotten to tell Pip we had our canine companion coming too. This worked out beautifully as Pips dogs are beautiful. My Storm has been sulking ever since leaving her friend. The house itself is beautiful, although small I liked that very much about it. Waking up to the noise of hens and cockerels is lovely, but now as lovely as fresh eggs in the morning! I could not fault pip for anything and the only disappointing part of our stay was leaving through the gates to go home! We will be back though!

    Lilianne2015-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Had such a lovely weekend in April celebrating by partners 40th. Pip went out of her way to decorate the barn for me and done a great job. The barn was perfect and we had a lovely food hamper left for us. The views out are amazing and we absolutely loved spending the evenings in the hot tub! Such a fantastic touch. Would definitely recommend - thanks very much to Pip.

    Sophie2016-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Pip was so lovely and welcoming when we arrived and then finding the welcome food pack full of goodies was a great surprise. What a start to our weekend away :)) We were blessed with the weather which meant we could make full use of the hot tub and the decking areas which were just such a treat. A lovely cosy apartment once we took ourselves inside…..a lovely home away from home. Many thanks to Pip…we shall be coming back xxxx

    Rachel2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to spend a lazy weekend. Pip is a fantastic host - you will want for nothing. Highly recommended.

  • The barn apartment was perfect! My wife and I had such a relaxing few days and plan to come back in the summer. The apartment was clean, warm and cozy. Pip made such a wonderful host and treated us like royalty. Many thanks for such a 5* service. Joe & Mili

**** SMALL GROUPS FOR MID WEEK BOOKINGS CONSIDERED **** Edells is a Victorian arts & crafts style country house with William Morris wallpapers and mature garden with ha-ha. 5 minute walk to station with a 45 minute direct service to London. Recently opened up having been a private family home since the 1840s.
Only recently opened up having been a private family home since 1849, Edells is a warm, inviting and relaxed home rather than a contrived hotel or holiday house. In its own grounds with sweeping views across the High Weald towards Ashdown Forest. Just the place to relax and celebrate with friends and family. Edells is found at the end of a private drive lined with oak trees and laurel hedges. The garden has been developed over recent times under the guidance and supervision of Christopher Masson, a pupil of Lanning Roper who designed the gardens at Highgrove. The Victorian ha-ha has been restored and it is possible to eyeball the cows! A public footpath runs through Edells Paddock connecting the house to a network of countryside walks to nearby pubs and castles. The William Morris wallpapers found in many rooms of the house are hand-made. The designs were produced using the original Morris wallpaper blocks and using historically authentic colours which were hand-mixed. We've been told by previous Airbnbers that the kitchen "has all the equipment you could need". As for devices/appliances there is: a 4 oven aga, Neff double electric oven with grill, 4 ring induction hob, microwave, kettle, blender, scales, fridges, fridge freezer, a dishwasher and a washing machine. Current bed configuration is: ground floor - x1 king; 1st floor - x1 superking/twin zip & link, x1 king, x1 superking/twin zip & link with pull out single trundle bed, x1 double, x1 twin, x2 single; 2nd floor - x1 superking/twin zip & link, x1 room with four singles (this gets you to our total capacity of 20+1). Current loo & bathroom configuration is: ground floor - downstairs loo + accessible bedroom en suite; 1st floor - Seaweed Bathroom with long Victorian bath (with hand held shower attachment), loo and sink. Family Bathroom with claw foot bath (with hand held shower attachment), generous shower, loo, sink and bidet. 2nd floor - Nursery Bathroom with slipper bath (with hand held shower attachment), loo and sink.
A short walk (6/7 minutes) from Edells is the centre of Markbeech village. In the village is the country pub The Kentish Horse. Longer walks allow guests to reach many other places including Hever Castle (40 minutes) with the Henry VIII Inn beside it, Chiddingstone Castle (60 minutes) with The Rock Inn on the way and the Castle Inn and Tulip Tree Tea Rooms beside it, The Kingdom Penshurst - an exciting event space with cafe, yoga and cycling (70 minutes), Penshurst Place (80 minutes) with the Leicester Arms beside it. Many walks can combine various pubs together including: Kentish Horse, Rock Inn, Castle Inn, Henry VIII Inn, Greyhound Inn, Queens Arms, Fountain Inn, Bottle House Inn, Spotted Dog, Leicester Arms... With large groups we strongly recommend getting in touch with these pubs directly especially if you're hoping for food - breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea and/or dinner. Though it's not all about pubs and castles. Other activities within walking distance include tennis, cricket, horse riding,... Outside of walking distance opens you up to lots of other activities such as climbing, fishing, go-karting, golf, swimming, tenpin bowling, steam railways, sailing, cinemas, theatres, etc. See the Edells guidebook and map for further recommendations. There are many interesting houses and gardens to visit with 21 National Trust properties a short drive away including Chartwell as well as Hever Castle, Penshurst Place. Hole Cottage, the surviving cross-wing of a late medieval hall house now managed by the Landmark Trust, is only 5 minutes walk. The opportunity for walking and riding in 'Pooh Bear country' on Ashdown Forest is conveniently close by. Cycling is a big thing in this part of the country and has grown increasingly popular in recent years due to the popularity of the triathlons at Hever Castle. We also have a detailed PDF guide for the house that we can share with you once you have booked for further context on the house and area. The nearest town is Edenbridge which has a Waitrose supermarket along with restaurants to eat in and takeaway from: - English - Tom Bell Fish & Chips - Indian - Quality Tandoori - Chinese - The Magic Wok - Italian - La Botte - Turkish - Istanbul kebab - Italian - Domino's Pizza
  • Special is how I would sum up my stay here. The long driveway got us immediately excited and the house is grand, spacious and full of character. The gardens were very well kept and the views from the bedrooms/garden are spectacular. If you want somewhere to completely relax and forget about lifes everyday hustle then this is the place. There is also a nice country pub a 5 min walk across fields. Hugo kindly allowed my Groomsmen and I to get ready here the night before the wedding. He was perfectly accomodating, was always in touch and even took the time to give me a tour of the house and show how to use some of the appliances. 10/10 and a full recommendation from all of us.

  • Edells is a truly excellent place to stay - we came with around 16 friends, 5 babies and 2 dogs and had a brilliant time! It's a huge house with a beautiful garden. The house is extremely characterful and very comfortable. Beautiful wall paper, antique furnishings, and a lovely bohemian original feel. We couldn't fault it at all. Most of all Hugo was such a brilliant host - going over and above the call of duty to enable us to have a good time; he had various suggestions including a chef, yoga, and local band that we could get to improve our weekend. We did the yoga class in the main sitting room on Sunday morning and it was heavenly. I cannot recommend Edells more highly!! 10/10 for house and communication.

  • Booked the place and spoke to Hugo a lot about the house, local area to help with our stay. Arrived at the house with the fire on, and was given a grand tour of the place. House has a incredible amount of character which made our stay. Loved the history of the house. Everything was great, great house for a dinner party. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again. Thanks for hosting us Nick

    Nick2015-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • I can only second everything that has been said about Edells. Hugo met the advance party of our family group and gave us a tour of the fascinating house (still haven't got over the ship's boiler in the cellar...) and the beautiful gardens, then left us to enjoy it for an all-too-short weekend. Once the final family members had arrived from the London train at the very handy and charming Cowden station the weekend began - with appropriately named Hugo cocktails and dinner in the kitchen which was very much the centre of the house for our whole weekend. We did venture out to the Henry VIII theme park, Hever Castle, (very busy for a jousting weekend) which was a lot of fun. But we were soon back to enjoy the peace and beauty of Edells, with more Hugo cocktails and boules in the garden. We had unexpectedly lovely weather, but even without it there is a lot to do very close by. A few members of the party managed to spook themselves at night, being unused to the quiet, remoteness and size of the house (and having watched too many horror films) but the only things going bump in the night were the jackdaws who appeared to be having a roller skating party on the roof over my bedroom one morning... Hugo gives a very fair and accurate description of the house on the website, and in subsequent messages, so we knew what to expect. We felt very privileged to stay in such a special place and found it hard to tear ourselves away on Sunday morning. And a special mention must go to Archie, who popped in to visit us a few times!

    Lynne2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The property is incredible and Hugo was really helpful. There's some really nice local walks and pubs, would definitely recommend.

    Shannon2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • The most characterful house we have ever stayed in. Plenty of space for 20 people plus dogs to feel comfortable in, every room full of Arts and Crafts charm. Landscaped gardens to get lost in, and a lovely walk to a great local pub. Great communication with the host too. Cannot recommend highly enough.

    alan2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely fantastic 3 nights in Edells. Hugo was there to meet on arrival and gave a thorough and fascinating tour of the house and garden - it was really exciting to be in a place with so much history. The house was full of quirks and charms, and everything we needed for a great stay in the countryside - nice walks, local pubs and lots of garden games! Highly recommended for any large group of any age!

    James2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • I visited Edells with seven friends and two of their children on a lovely sunny July weekend, and we could not have enjoyed ourselves more. The house itself is beautiful, and has a wealth of rare original features as you can see in the photos. We loved being able to explore rooms like the library, and found the place very comfortable. The kitchen has all the equipment you could need; the bedrooms are pretty; bathrooms have a luxury feel as well as having a Victorian style. It's a fun place for children, too. Hugo was extremely helpful and welcoming, happy to help during our stay and providing a full tour of the house. We felt able to relax and feel at home, while there was still help at hand if needed. The house provides all of the 'wholesome' delights you could want- a good base for walking, a beautiful garden, even croquet! In a weekend with such good weather, we didn't venture far but did manage to discover the pretty pub garden at the Kentish Horse, which comes with a play area for children. We would have happily stayed for at least a week, exploring the local sights like Hever Castle. Staying at Edells is a rare treat, and my friends and I would recommend it.

Quiet environment and easy access to the town, horley stations and Gatwick south terminal. Near the riverside park where you can enjoy jogging or walking.
  • Perfect for Gatwick airport.

    Noah and Chelsea2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was a wet, cold, windy, miserable day and we couldn't check-in until 5pm, and this was not flexible at all. We had to hang around for 2 hours until we were allowed to check in. I could understand if they were working, which wasn't the case.

    Sharmaine2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was as described, exactly what we needed for an overnight stop over for airport connection. Easily walkable but I wouldn't like to walk it at night alone.

    David2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Good location for Gatwick airport - not always possible to park at the property so just be aware that you will have to park in another residential street - clean and good for a stopover before flight

    Lisa2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location with friendly and informative hosts. Would stay again :)

    Kim (Natalie)2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a super way to use Gatwick as a hub on your journey with a minimum of fuss from an overnight stay. A short winding walk gets you to a bath and bed and, the next morning, on your way.

    John2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Esmerelda & Tony were great hosts. They messaged me the day of arrival to see what time we would be there. Tony showed us to the room and also helped us with local information. Great location for the airport and great map/description which Esmerelda sent me weeks in advance...definitely print them off. Also very close to the town centre for a bite to eat or drinks.

    Kerry2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Esme made us feel very welcome. It was great to have our own bathroom. I loved the fact that there was tea, coffee and a kettle in the room. When we came back from our party I was desperate for a cup of tea and it was great to have that facility without disturbing everyone. Plus a quick coffee before we left the next morning was handy. The bed was very comfy and despite the proximity to Gatwick, we weren't bothered by airplane noise. Parking right outside the house made the whole experience easy and convenient.

  • Had a great albeit short stay at Veronica's place. We didn't get to meet her, but Roger took great care of us. We had the entire 2nd floor to ourselves. Roger gave us a very early morning shuttle ride to Gatewick. Very kind.

    Jill2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The rooms were great and the service fantastic. Veronica was a lovely and accommodating host (especially considering our late arrival with a tired toddler in tow, and the early morning drop off at the airport). Thanks so much!

  • Veronica is a fantastic host. The house is in a lovely quiet location close to the airport. Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended!!

  • Roger made us all feel very comfortable. A lovely person to spend time with and talk to. Our rooms were extremely comfortable and well equipped. We especially enjoyed the good quality tea and breakfast. We arrived in a hurry (late for a wedding!) and Roger was completely unperturbed and helped get us on our way and was there to greet us on our return later that evening.

The location was perfect for our early morning flight, once again we were driven there. Veronica and Roger were perfect hosts, very friendly and helpful.

    Yvonne2017-09-21T00:00:00Z

Private single room in a modern, comfortable and very clean property in a safe and quiet neighborhood close to Gatwick (10 mins by taxi, 5 mins by train from Three Bridges Station) and with good rail links to central London and the South coast (nearest station 1 mile).
The bedroom has a single bed with bedside table and lamp and two chests of drawers. The room is simple and uncluttered but comfortable and clean and perfect for solo travelers looking for an economical short stay. The bathroom is modern and clean with bath and shower - shampoo, soap, shower gel and towels are provided. The bathroom will be shared if I have others guests staying. The kitchen is large, clean and modern and you can help yourself to tea and coffee throughout your stay but it is not available for cooking.
The neighborhood is very safe, quiet and clean. There is a small supermarket 5 mins walk. The local shops are 12 mins walk (on route between my house and the station) and there is a cafe that serves English Breakfast all day! There are pubs within walking distance (10 mins) where you can eat but note pub kitchens generally close at 9.30pm. The main town centre is 2.5 miles where you can find many restaurants and bars.
  • Karen's place is one of the best places I have stayed so far. The house is in an immaculate condition - It is very modern and it should actually have 6 stars for cleanliness. The room and the bathroom again were faultless. Karen is a very pleasant host, she was always available and would response promptly and precisely whenever I had contacted her. Overall, a great value for money place to stay - would highly recommend it!

  • Karen's place is one of the best that I've stayed at. It's very clean, easy to get to, close to the airport. Due to bus issues I showed up a bit passed check-in and Karen was very nice and understanding about it. I wish I could've stayed longer. Her home was/is perfect and beautiful.

  • Amazing interior designed flat indeed, absolutely lovely and spacious, would highly recommend. I didn't meet Natalie but she was very responsive to any communication, and arranged easy and flexible check-in and check-out for us. The log fire was terrific. Will definitely use again, thank you for an amazing Airbnb experience.

  • Great property - quirky and fun. Good to be able to park outside too. Natalie is easy to get hold of and very quick to respond to any messages sent. For us it was a fabulous location and very reasonably priced too. Thanks Natalie - you’re certainly worth a recommendation.

    Kate2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a lovely stay at Natalie's property. Although for only 1 night, we were made to feel at home. The property is beautifully furnished and very clean. The information about local sights came in really handy too and we were able to plan a few trips around the area. Being 7 months pregnant, I must say I had the best sleep i've had in months! The bed was so comfy!! Great location meant it was easy to see sights, get to the local supermarket and highstreets. Communication was so efficient and our check in and check out were effortless. Thank you Natalie for a very welcoming, warm stay :)

Felt welcome and comfortable to use shared spaces. Great local knowledge and recommendations on places to go. A really lovely host with a friendly family who are so welcoming, you'll feel right at home straight away! Highly recommended staying here! Thanks PK, Jonny, extended family and pets!

  • Nowadays is no easy to meet such nice and kind people as PK and her husband Johnny. They were so helpfull to me! The house is amazing, big, very clean and lighty, with a wonderful garden full of plants and flowers. The room is simply perfect, maybe the best I ever found in my many Airbnb stayings. Lingfield is a very quiet village merged in the lovely British country side. It is just 50 minutes by train from London Victoria station, and there is a train every 30 minutes, so the place is worth as a basis to visit London and to spend the night time in a quiet place. I absolutely suggest PK house to every nature lover! Assolutamente consigliata. Grazie ancora a PK e a Johnny.

A very airy, spacious and homely bedroom with an ensuite shower room. The room is located on the top floor and so feels very separated from the rest of the house giving you plenty of privacy. Located in the beautiful and historic town of East Grinstead, which is located approximately 9 miles from Gatwick Airport.
The room consists of a double bed suitable for two adults, we can also provide an additional double and single floor bed making it suitable for families. The room is located in the loft space and is very spacious and relaxing and feels quite separated from the rest of the house. The door to the bedroom is at the bottom of the staircase. There is a ensuite bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Additionally tea and coffee making facilities will be provided in the bedroom. Our house is located centrally in East Grinstead on a quiet estate and the town centre is only a 5-10 minute walk away. East Grinstead offers plenty of history and quirky shops and cafes for you to enjoy.
East Grinstead is surrounded by some of the South-East's best countryside, with the Ashdown forest (home to Winnie the Pooh) and South Downs all being accessible. The famous steam train railway known as The Bluebell Railway stops in East Grinstead. On the outskirts of the town lies Standen, an Arts and Crafts family home owned by the National Trust. The Greenwich Meridian Line also runs through East Grinstead, making it the only place where East and West Sussex meet Surrey and Kent.
  • Very quiet room and we felt at home though independents. Our guests were adorable. They had left water bottles for us. We would love to come back.

  • Paula is a great host. We were greeted with a wonderful smile and a warm welcome to her home. Everything was provided in a comfortable spacious room. Dormansland is a peaceful village with places to eat within easy walking distance of the B&B. It is very convenient for Gatwick airport and Lingfield race course. Dormans rail station is a 15 minutes walk with regular trains to London. In all a really good experience and highly recommended. Thank you!

    Francesca2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Paula! We loved our stay in your home and you made us feel very welcome. As this was our first Airbnb experience we didn't know what to expect. Our room was nice and big and the ensuite shower was great. There were so many personal touches that really added to the experience, including the toothpaste/shampoo/conditioner/shower gel in the bathroom. Such a nice idea! The breakfast in the room was perfect-tea/coffee making facilities and 2 cereal choices/fresh fruit and cereal bars. It was great to have something before we hit the road. We'd definitely recommend you to friends and family in future.

    Laura2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • A nice room, with off-street parking and small ensuite bathroom. Breakfast cereal (milk, juice, fruit bars and fruit) provided and replenished daily, which was great. Also provided, was tea, hot chocolate and coffee making facilities, along with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, and fresh towels and a nicely made bed. I especially liked that the host noticed that we had a bottle of wine and provided glasses. Unfortunately however, sleep was regularly interrupted by the toilet macerator (not mentioned) going off for no reason, for a few seconds every 30 minutes or so, all through the night. The dogs barked every now and again in the night as well, which I suppose I should have anticipated. The planes coming into Gatwick (not the host's fault, of cousre!) and general household noise of shutting doors etc, certainly made setting an alarm unnecessary (!) Closing the window fixed the plane problem, but then it became too hot in the room. I was disappointed to have only met the host as I was leaving, having been let in by her husband.

  • This is a great spot. The flat is much bigger than the impression given by the pictures with a lovely large living room and spacious kitchen, a large master bedroom with large master bath (we slept comfortably in the bed, too). Having the horses next door was nice (they were quiet and we weren't aware they were even there unless we looked out the window - and it was wonderful to look out and see them). This location was perfect as it was off the main road down a beautiful tree lined drive, so very peaceful, but also near the airport and the gardens we wanted to visit. Michelle was very helpful and thoughtful - great host!

    Anne2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Such a peaceful and comfortable cottage. Spotlessly clean and with a fully stocked kitchen if you happen to feel like cooking! Also several tempting pubs in the area and a nice Waitrose not far. Seeing the horses go by was a real treat for my city kids! Thanks for a wonderful stay and for being fab hosts!

  • Michelle and Gordon were wonderful hosts. They made us feel so welcome, with the fridge and cupboards full of essential goodies and they provided useful tips about where to visit. Impeccably clean and comfortable accommodation with all conveniences required. Excellent location, close enough to Gatwick but right out in the country, providing much-needed R &R. Lingfield station is 5 mins away, so family from London joined us for the weekend which was fabulous. We explored wonderful local heritage sites and had a fantastic trip down to the Seven Sisters. All in all, a really special stay.

    Linda2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful getaway! We will most certainly be coming back to stay. I have to say the pictures do not do this gorgeous place justice. It is much bigger and cosier than it looks. The kitchen has EVERYTHING you could need and Michelle was so happy for us to use it. You can bake, whatever, it's there! She even offers wellies for your walks. Took our friends and my dog for a weekend and Michelle couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. Can't wait to go back.

    Lee2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolutely delightful cottage in a beautiful setting. It was immaculately clean and well presented and unbelievably well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Our family, including 3 generations with a baby and 2 year old stayed as we were attending a family wedding close by and Michelle couldn't have made us more welcome. My daughter loved the extra bonus of visiting the livery stables next door. Would highly recommend to anyone.

    Ruth2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic holiday let. We stay in alot of holiday cottages and this was one, if not the best we have stayed in. Very spacious, modern, all the appliances needed, very very clean!!! Lovely welcoming touches, full sky package and good WiFi. Michelle and Gordon went out of there way to look after us. They very kindly walked our dogs while we attended a family wedding. They where very helpful and knowledgeable about the estate and local area. The horses where a real treat and our daughter loved seeing them, as well as the great planes flying over head. Only negative feedback is that the water for the showers didn't get too hot, I'm sure this could have been rectified but we didn't have time in our schedule to ask. We will definitely come back and recommend this holiday let.

Thanks very much for making our first night so pleasant.

Ockhams Farm in the Garden of England, an area of outstanding natural beauty on the High Weald close to Hever Castle, Penshurst, Chartwell, Lingfield and Gatwick. Located a mile from the main road and approached along an oak lined drive and bridge between trout stocked lakes.
The twin bed room measures 4.55m x 3.4m (167ft2) with ensuite bath/shower room. It was formerly an Oast kiln to dry hops for brewing beer built in C16th. The thick walls have exposed sandstone and ironstone from a redundant quarry on the farm. The structural timbers from decommissioned ships have matching Roman numerals for identification. Apart from fields of sheep, the North Downs are also visible. The lakes recorded as being dammed in the year 1341 to power the adjoining Christmas (corn) Mill.
A Roman built road crosses the River Eden and passes Dry Hill to the south where there was once a Roman camp. There are many good public houses in the surrounding villages serving reasonably priced and good food. For further details, please see: (URL HIDDEN)

  • We had the most wonderful stay, excellent accommodation, very private. Charming host would was very welcoming and incredibly helpful. It is a truly magical setting with spectacular views, beautiful grounds. It had a real feel of the country lambs, ponies and dogs. We could not recommend it more for a either a break in the countryside or as accommodation before a flight from Gatwick Airport.

Bright and modern 1 bedroom place in the heart of East Grinstead and only a 10 minute walk from East Grinstead train station with direct access to London.
The flat is cosy but perfectly ok for short stays. It has a fully equipped kitchen with tea/coffee provided, wi-fi access (no TV though), washer/dryer, heating, a fully equipped bathroom with amenities provided. The bedroom has a built in wardrobe but only about a half can be used by guests as we store our stuff in the rest. Overall this is a great place for exploring East Grinstead and surroundings.
  • Thank you for the wonderful stay in East Grinstead! The location was wonderful, as were the amenities. Nina is a great host! It was very easy to communicate with her. Highly recommend this wonderful apartment to anyone visiting East Grinstead or nearby! Oh and there's a great cafe right below the apartment for breakfast or lunch.. everything is literally at your doorstep if you stay here.

  • Lovely warm and friendly bnb experience. Everything was perfect and we were very comfortable. Sally and John were exceptional hosts. Very central, delightful village and scenery. Would recommend this bnb stay.

  • We found Sally and John to be wonderfully welcoming hosts. Their lovely house is perfectly located. We had an excellent stay, despite getting a little bit lost on the way there!

    Miriam2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • The GPS directions from the Airbnb link were not very good, make sure you use the full address that Sally will give you. The room, bathroom and breakfast were wonderful and we were given milk for an early morning cuppa in the room. We were surprised at the aircraft noise for Gatwick despite having read reviews - we still slept well though!

  • We were made to feel very welcome and part of the family. The room was as described and very comfortable and the bathroom was clean with a super shower, with lots of toiletries if needed. John very kindly gave us a lift to the racecourse as it was raining. In the morning there was lots of choice for breakfast and it was nice to have a chat with Sally. This is the first time that we've used Airbnb and have found it very positive. We would recommend staying with Sally and we will do so again the next time we come to Lingfield. Thank you.

  • A proper amazing airbnb find!! Even arriving at gone 10pm, the grandness of the self build did not escape us. The entrance is welcoming and fragrant, the quiet and calm told me it would be a peaceful stay. And this was just the beginning. We were welcomed by both Jim and Maggie. We were riding the Surrey Cyclone the following day so whilst Jim helped my partner secure the bikes in their potters shed, Maggie gave me the grand tour and even shared their lovely family photos up the stairs. Downstairs, there is a lovely little snug with a guest television overlooking the gorgeous back garden, full of flowers, trees and their own vegetable patch. Here, you could eat your breakfast or enjoy a brew that's made possible by your own kettle, sundries and refrigerator located in the side porch. Up the wide staircase, our room was also not to disappoint! The large and oh so comfy bed was beautifully dressed and coordinated with the handmade bespoke blind that was great at blocking out all of the light that poured through the wide window overlooking the back garden as soon as we opened it. There was a handy hair dryer and alarm clock and radio as well, making our stay just that wee bit more comfy. Now for the bathroom.... oh the bathroom!! The bath alone is enough to stay, but open the velux window whilst in the bath, and it's truly heaven! So beautiful (and the bath is big enough for two). There is also a snazzy shower for those that prefer not to bathe and very modern loo and posh sink. Not a single thing I'd change. It was all brilliant and I know that Jim and Maggie will be a great asset to the airbnb community! Thank you for making our stay truly brilliant!

    Antonia2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful home and really accommodating hosts. The rooms were a great size and the bed was super comfy. I loved the black out blinds which made sleeping so much easier. We had our own bathroom which was fabulous as you did not feel like you were getting in anyone's way. We had our own little kitchen and snug area so it really was like home from home. Jim and Maggie were wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend staying here and I would again. Thank you Maggie and Jim for a great stay x

  • This is a great house very convenient for East Grinstead - walking distance to the town centre. It is pretty new and kept spotless. All rooms you will use are good and have lots of natural light with a great bathroom complementing the bedroom and a small sitting room both looking out over the rear garden.

  • Staying at Woodlea was a real pleasure. Firstly it is a stunning house that Jim has had a major part in building, it is spacious, modern, very clean and comfortable. The house was easy to find with plenty of safe parking. Communication from start to finish was spot on. We only stayed one night as we were visiting a friend, but would definitely stay longer. Our room was exactly as the picture but very spacious, very quiet and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom, for our own use was just next door, with a very efficient shower, but if you have time, a stunning deep roll top bath. Tea, coffee, fresh milk and bottled water were all provided . We loved our stay here and highly recommend anyone else to stay here.

  • We had a very pleasant stay with our family of four at The Duckhouse. The grounds are beautiful. The main house is right next to The Duckhouse. We enjoyed the duck family and the beautiful surroundings. The house is furnished with taste in light and friendly colours and equipped with everything you might need. We were welcomed with beautiful fresh flowers. The location is not easy to find, but actually very well positioned for exploring the region. The hosts were not there when we stayed, but very quick in responding to all our questions. Sadly the trampoline and swings were not in usable condition, but the duck family was a real treat to observe.

  • Biz was a fantastic host. The Duckhouse was a lovely stay in a beautiful setting. The ducks Sprout and Ivy were so friendly and came to greet us each day! The Duckhouse had everything we needed for our stay and Biz quickly responded to any questions we had via email. I would highly recommend and would stay again!

  • Our stay at the Duck House was so lovely. First of all the property is just stunning! We arrived after dark on a rainy night, and when I looked out the window for the first time the next morning, I could hardly believe it was real. The ducks are delightful as well. The cottage is nicely decorated, comfortable and well-appointed. The heated bathroom floor was a treat. The beds were quite comfortable with nice (URL HIDDEN) and her husband couldn't have been more gracious. They went way out of their way to help us when we arrived after dark from the airport on a stormy night. We would highly recommend this property as it is a great choice for anyone needing somewhere to stay in the area. Thanks so much, Biz and family. You have a wonderful place!

    Patricia2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed three nights at Julia's place. Julia is very kind and courteous. She picked me up from train station. Julia gave me the keys and information how to get along in this house. I also met Julia's kind and helpful son. The house is located off the urban centre, but so I had some peace and quiet, so I could do my stuff. This location suited me well as the hospital is near by where I had some business to do. My provided room was furnished well. Bathroom and kitchen were shared. Julia managed everything to make my stay as pleasant as possible. During my stay there was another guest but she was proper. On my first evening Julia's son showed me the surrounding area and the town centre. The surroundings were quiet and clean. You have to look out when you are walking at twilight or night as there are no street lightnings along the street where the house is. Communication in general and telephone contact worked very smoothly. Hand-over of keys and check-out also worked out. I could move freely at all times. Julia was really pleasant and very helpful. Julia's son took me to the station when I had to depart. Altogether I can recommend this accommodation in East Grinstead!

Double room in detached house in quiet cul-de-sac. Close to Gatwick airport, London, Brighton and Ashdown Forest.
We have two very friendly black Labradors and two cats, these remain down stairs at night time.
The house is within walking distance of East Grinstead with its historic high street, shops, pubs and restaurants. Woodland walks and the Ashdown Forest are close by.
  • Hi Susie, Sandro and I really enjoyed the short stay with you. Thank you so much for your lovely welcome from you and Paul - and the breakfast was great. Thank you so much for the restaurant recommendation too - you made it so welcoming for us. Really appreciate it. Regards, Siobhan and Sandro

  • My room was clean and bright and the bed was very comfortable. The house and its location is very quiet, with easy access on foot or by car into East Grinstead. Susie and her gorgeous black Labradors are perfect hosts.

  • Our stay at Susie's place was wonderful. She was a delight and made us feel so welcome. The bed is super comfy and the room overlooks her beautiful garden. Everything was very clean and we will definitely stay here again.

  • Susie's place is lovely to stay at. Nice and clean with a super comfy bed!

  • I've stayed at Susies place three times over the last month, both Susie and her partner Paul make you feel very welcome and at ease from the start, and will help with anything they can, and then there's their two adorable black labs which are also very welcoming. Susies place is clean, warm and a pleasure to be in, the bathroom and shower are great and the bed is very comfy, all in all a lovely, calming stay. I would highly recommend, I will certainly be staying again.

We have three lovely, rustic glamping pods. The pods look out on to a meadow field, which from April to July is left to hay. The pods include electricity, lighting, a fridge, a double bed, bunk beds and mattresses. They are close to our newly built toilet block with heated floors and rain head showers (50p meter). All the pods have a covered outside seating area and are fitted with timed heaters. All the advantages of camping - none of the hassle of setting up a tent!
Part of a family run campsite. 5 minutes from Lingfield train station, which is 45 minutes from central London. 15 minutes from the M25 and 20 minutes from Gatwick Airport. You'll be able to see the planes during the day. 50p extra per night for pets. Please note, bed linen, duvets and towels are not included in the price. These can be pre-ordered for an extra fee.
  • Beautiful location with a lovely couple who manage the campsite – they couldn’t help us enough. There is a pub walking distance away (left out of the main entrance) which had really great food so would highly recommended. The bathrooms on the site are excellent and were kept very clean. Great communication with the host throughout. Thank you for a fantastic weekend away.

We are a family run bed and breakfast, located 15 minutes from Gatwick Airport and 5 minutes from Lingfield Park Racecourse. This room has a double bed, a single, ensuite facilities and a kitchenette (with fridge, sink and microwave)
A converted out building, the space is large, and perfect for a couple or families.
We are located close to Gatwick airport, have ample parking on site and so guests who stay for Bed and Breakfast are able to leave their car and get a taxi (£16 each way) to Gatwick. We are a short 5 minute drive to Lingfield Park Racecourse. We are a mile from The Red Barn- a popular wedding venue, and can accommodate small wedding groups.
  • Great breakfast, Vanessa is very helpful and friendly. Made to feel welcome and comfortable.

  • I can't rate Vanessa's place as unfortunately I was ill and couldn't travel. However, Vanessa is really kind and easy to deal with, I was very disappointed not to have gone and hope to stay with her soon.

  • Absolutely lovely hosts made us very welcome and very helpful and accomodating. Breakfast was lovely and enjoyed a nice conversation around the big kitchen table with the other guests who also enjoyed the races. Good facilities warm room good shower. If going to the races get your cabs all prebooked... we learned the hard way !
