  • This cabin in the Smoky Mountains was beautiful! We are driving cross country and Carol and Dan's place was our first stop. So relaxing and calm. We even got to feed the hens! Wish we had more time to hike around and explore. Thanks for zucchini bread! Strongly recommend the Windcrest Loft.

  • I've just returned from spending a week at the Windcrest Loft with my husband and two dogs and I cannot say enough good things about this place! First, Dan and Carol are wonderful hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and meet our needs. They have some really clever systems in place for housekeeping which are helpful without being intrusive. They were great about meeting some special needs - like providing old towels for muddy dog paws after lots of rain. The loft itself is beautiful, comfortable and truly 'just right.' Comfy furniture, great decor, a nice bathroom, and a very efficient heating/cooling system. It is also very clean. I was thrilled to find a bookshelf filled with works from some of my favorite authors and musicians, as well as DVDs, games and puzzles. It was just so relaxing to snuggle in on cold nights with a good book and some relaxing music. I can't wait to visit again. I used to live in Sylva, so I already knew I would love the location. It feels private but is very close to Sylva and Dillsboro and a reasonable drive to Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway or Tennessee. Thank you to the Payton's for an amazing week! We look forward to seeing you again soon!

  • Beautiful little house in an idllyic setting! Had everything we needed. Gracious host!

    Becki2012-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • The loft is nicely set up so it looks bigger than other studios I’ve been in. Carol had many nice touches that add to the experience. The bed was comfy. It was very cold when we arrived but the cabin was nice and toasty for us. The yard was perfect for our dogs! It was so nice to get to bring them and have a playmate for them. There are lots of stores close by selling local pottery and other art. Carol is an artist herself-get her to show you her work!! Loved our stay! Would definitely stay here again!

    Terri2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was really cute and had everything we needed. We really appreciated the bottled water provided. It was a great location near town. Carol was great. Gave us lots of advice and we enjoyed talking with her. The chickens were fun too! Loved being in such a great atmosphere.

    Kate2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time! We loved the cabin and the adorable little town nearby. :)

    Katie2012-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a quick trip planned into the mountains and it was great. We arrived late at the house but arrangements were made. Instead of doing a big hike an hour north we changed our mind by doing one closer that we found in the cabin. It turned out to be a great walk. Great cabin for a weekend away with everything available for good comfort.

    Joran 2015-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • wonderful cozy and relaxing place. Carol has thought of everything for her guests' comfort. The Loft is quiet, but not isolated. All sorts of shops and eating places are a short drive away. The river nearby is beautiful.

  • This cabin was fantastic! We could fish right off the front porch. Very clean, plenty of space and close to everything we wanted to do.

    Marcia2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • The deck over the river was really nice. We enjoyed watching the flow of the river and the Blue Heron and the ducks. Very relaxing and pleasant.

    Georgie2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place right on the Tuck....enjoyed sitting outside by the fire and watching the river. Great porch overlooking the river with an awesome view.

    Drew2017-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin on the Tuckaseegee river! Clean and everything you need to have a relaxing time.

    Connor2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin was beautiful and the location was perfect! If you are looking for a quaint little cabin on the river then look no further. Our family loved being here and would definitely recommend it to others. We will definitely be back!

    Dan2016-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great view, very clean! Enjoyed the fire pit and the wood stove inside.

    Chad2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in Dillsboro, oversized deck right on the river. Very clean and well equipped, neighborhood was quiet. Great place for a getaway in the mountains at a reasonable price. Definitely would go back.

    Bill2017-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • I and my husband wanted to do a couple of day hikes in the smokies and we were looking for a place that was away from crowded towns (like Gatlinburg) but still close enough for us to drive to the park. With a less than 30 minute drive to the park, Tavish's place was a perfect choice. Her cabin is right on the Tuckasegee River and you can literally fish right off the back porch. My husband is an avid fisherman and he loved the opportunity to go and catch some trout just by walking to the backyard. Another reviewer stated that this cabin is located in a "trailer park". That is a little misleading. The cabins are located on a campground that also has campers in the same area and it did not take away from the experience for us. Our stay for the whole weekend was wonderful already but what made the icing on the cake was our neighbors. We got to meet some truly lovely people staying in the cabin next to us (who were staying for the same length of time we were) and they invited us over and we got to spend time and chat with them all weekend. I even had the opportunity to meet Tavish and her family, who are such a sweet and accommodating family and made sure that we had everything we needed. We will most definitely be telling everyone about this place and returning the next opportunity we get.

  • Lovely place and outstanding host Kate. Noce cozy house. We felt like at home. Highly recommended.

    Javier2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend staying at Kate's place. She was a great host!

    Kelvin2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Whiskey Inn was great. The location couldn't be much better: right on the main strip of Dillsboro, and just a few miles from Sylva. Haywood Smokehouse is right across the street, and there are a number of great hiking trails just ten minutes away. Kate had a number of breakfast options and had even made fresh raspberry cupcakes just before we arrived. Would definitely stay again.

    Ross2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful, traditional, immaculately clean B&B with an olde world charm and southern quaintness. Breakfast is a selection of cereals, juice, coffee, toast, muffins fruits, etc that you help yourself to, whether you wake at 6 or 9am. Kate is a lovely lady and effortlessly makes her guests feel welcomed and at home. There was a bottle of wine and glasses in the sitting room for guests to help themselves to, and even a popcorn selection to microwave if the urge struck, and it did....lol....for both! The big, old fashioned porch was the highlight, where you could wile away an hour in a rocking chair or porch-swing while watching the village world of Dillsboro go by. The Dillsboro and adjoining Sylva locals are very friendly, and there's a good choice of spots to eat, drink, walk, fish, river-raft, or just drive around and take in the awesome scenery. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Highly recommend the The Whistle Stop Inn.

    CAREY2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. The reviews written were very helpful. The Whistle Stop is lovely. Next time I would opt for a different room, preferably the downstairs room. It looked really perfect for a couple. While the Caboose was lovely, my husband is tall and the shower was a bit small, Actually I like a little more room in a bathroom for getting ready too. However it worked really well for our first Air BnB experience. Kate was very nice and provided a great place for us to check out the area. It was really relaxing

    Dorothy2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • I feel like Kate made some exceptions for me! She definitely did above and beyond and forgave my airheadedness for accidentally picking a different room The stay was great. I really recommend it, and going to Innovation Brewery while you're in town, Kate recommended it and it was great!

    Emily2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great resting point while passing through on my journey from Connecticut to California! Kate was very helpful, welcomed me and showed me to my room. I stayed in the "Caboose" room and the heart felt details were charming. Yes as others said the room was a bit small but not problematic at all. It had all I needed, was clean, and felt like spending the night at a friends. I would highly recommend staying here if passing through. I spent 2 nights. It was about 20 minutes to the Smoky Mountain National Park which had great hiking trails!! I enjoyed my stay!

    Gina2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's place is perfect. The room was clean, beautifully decorated and en suite bath was great. Centrally located with lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance.

  • Kate made us feel so comfortable in her beautiful home. She takes special care in making sure her guests feel welcomed and at home. We loved relaxing on the lovely front porch overlooking the historic town of Dillsboro. Thanks Kate!

    Gail2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Whistle Stop Inn. It was such a beautifully decorated home that maintained so much of it’s original charm. Our suite was so comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location was perfect for walking to many restaurants and shops, not to mention being surrounded by breathtaking mountain views. Kate was such a welcoming and kind host and we look forward to returning soon!

  • the entire home has a very unique character to it. the host was very pleasant and made our stay really enjoyable.

    Srikanth2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cute place! We only stayed one night but the two beds in the Pullman were a good setup for us. Kate was great about telling us where to park and how to get there. The surrounding area is beautiful--wish we had more time to explore. You can hear some street traffic in the room but it wasn't a huge deal.

    Amalie2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Pullman Suite was an excellent value. We made use of the 2 larger comfortable beds, and enjoyed the extra space. The common sitting area and kitchen had many amenities and provided a homey atmosphere with decor and information that fit well with the Smoky Mountains region. The entire inn was very clean and well cared for. Kate’s restaurant recommendations were excellent, and matched the top restaurants on TripAdvisor. (We ate twice at Kostas, only a block away.) We arrived later than expected, but Kate was waiting for us and made sure we got settled quickly. She continued to be very responsive to questions during our stay.

  • Awesome place!

    Jacob and Meaghan2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • More charming than the pictures allow, if that's possible. Kate was the best hostess, creating a warm and inviting environment for her guests to enjoy. If we make it back to Dillsboro, we look forward to staying at here again!

This listing is for primitive camping in a pasture near the Tuckaseegee River. We are developing a sustainable farm and currently have horses and goats. We are located within walking distance (10 min) of downtown Dillsboro, which has many nice shops and restaurants, and Sylva (40 min walk, 5 min drive) which is even larger. Campfires are allowed. Pets allowed on leash. There are primitive bathroom facilities (outhouse) and access to a well pump for fresh water.
Parking is outside the pasture, about a minute walk. There is access to the Tuckasegee River for kayaking, tubing, or fishing. You can fish in the property pond. You must bring all your own camping gear: tent, bedding, lighting, everything.
  • Graeme is very nice and accommodating. Great place to stay for some privacy.

    Bailey2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • I was traveling on a motorcycle and needed a spot close to paved road and Graeme had just the spot for me. Highly recommended for anyone on a motorcycle or using a tent.

    Dwight2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place! It was so beautiful and the animals we're amazing. Graeme was very sweet and easy to communicate with! Would love to go back! The area was amazing as well. Plenty of places to eat close by.

    Virginia2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described. We had a great time camping in the meadow after visiting Cherokee. Thanks Graeme!

    Miller2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • The pasture is a beautiful spot to spend the evening. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the goats and horses. Only about an hour to the Smokies :)

    Maverick2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to camp for the night! Graeme was easy to coordinate with and a welcoming host- we'd come back again!

    Adrienne2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Graeme was very sweet, she responded quickly and did a good job in check in and helping us get the the exact location. The concept of staying on a horse pasture in very cool in theory, but the only issue was that it was covered with horse feces everywhere which also attracted a lot of flies and bugs. I understand that it is camping and not glamorous, but we decided it wasn't for us. I think that if a portion of the pasture was cut off so that the horses couldn't touch it then it would have made a difference. Overall though, very cool concept with the goats and horses.

    Sophia2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as advertised, walkable to downtown (even though you have to cross a busy street without crosswalks or sidewalks). But I stayed here to go to the Smokies and it wasn't a bad drive to the park, plus Dillsboro is one of the most adorable little towns I've seen. Great value, just be prepared to camp, be careful of the electric fence, and everything will be a-okay.

We are a few steps from Main Street in a charming small town in the mountains of North Carolina. Short walk to restaurants, antique stores, coffee shops, book stores, breweries, and the library. Short drive to Cherokee casino, river rafting, tubing, and kayaking, Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountain Park, fly fishing, snow skiing, hiking and more!
Your apartment is upstairs and includes two bedrooms, living room, large hallway with dining area and kitchenette (small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, etc.), and bathroom. When we're in town we live in the downstairs portion of the house, and have our own entrance - so your space is completely private. It is an early 20th century (~1913) house with sloped ceilings, and lots of windows. There is a private patio area with a grill for you, and we will share the roomy front porch with you as well. There is parking right by the outside stairway to your apartment.
  • Lynn’s place was great. Spacious, clean, and close to everything in town.

    Katrina2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A nice visit to a small NC town, about an hour's drive from Asheville. The apartment was very nice, clean and comfortable. One bedroom with comfortable bed and one bath with tub/shower No kitchen, but equipped with a small fridge with freezer, large coffee pot (and coffee), electric kettle and toaster. You can easily walk to restaurants, brewpubs and shops. A visit to the Heinzelmännchen brewpub, owned by a German immigrant (Dieter) and his wife is definitely worthwhile if you like excellent beer. No food, but there is a food truck next to another brewpub, Innovation Brewery, very close by. You can get food there and bring it back. The best hamburger you might ever eat. Huge, but life's too short to not enjoy one of these burgers. If you are looking for a place to stay in Sylva or surrounding area, this would be an excellent choice.

    Richard2017-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great! Check-in was easy, the house felt so clean, fresh, and cozy, and the location was perfectly within walking distance to downtown Sylva.

    Ariel2017-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn's home is a wonderful space with many extra touches that make you feel right at home. A very comfy memory foam mattress makes for a good night's sleep. Lynn offered suggestions on local eateries. We enjoyed our stay very much.

    Gloria2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn's place is super cute in a cool little city deep in the mountains. Surprisingly spacious and very cozy. I highly recommend!

    Anna2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house was lovely and clean. There is a little downtown area just a couple blocks away with restaurants and coffee shops. I never actually interacted with the Lynn in person but check-in and check-out was super easy. Sylva is a beautiful area, but keep in mind that it is a small town. The people are friendly but there aren't tons of things to do. Also Uber is almost nonexistent in the area. I wanted the seclusion so it was a perfect experience for me.

    Katherine2017-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This home was wonderful, beautifully decorated, but very inviting and comfortable. While it was quiet and relaxing, it was very convenient to downtown Sylva. We walked everywhere! We didn't want to leave!

    Don2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great. Parking is always something I worry about and it's off road, same, and convenient here. The only reason I reviewed a bit better was Bc the house was very accurately described but the town itself was better than I expected! I enjoyed the work trip overall. Excellent host and a cute town with Guadalupe Cafe:fresh, good, awesome dishes. Unexpectedly in love with this tiny town.

You can easily take a day trip into Tennessee's Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. We are also just a short drive to some of the prettiest places that you won't find on a tourist brochure - just ask!
  • David and Suzanne were lovely and even though we only met for a brief couple minutes, they were very friendly and welcoming. Thank you for the recommendation of the food truck down at main street - the burger was amazing and hit the spot after a long day's drive. David and Suzanne's place was as described in the listing and felt very warm and home. My boyfriend & I enjoyed complimentary coffee & oats in the morning before heading for another long drive! Sad that we did not get to stay longer at this perfect home but would highly recommend this to anyone who's looking for a comfortable bed and a welcoming home. Cheers!

    Rachel2016-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay in David's farmhouse dwelling. The place was just what we like-secluded, quite and had a great cross breeze throughout. Our host David was very accommodating and friendly. Hope to come back again.

    John2016-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • David and Suzanne were warm and welcoming. This was our first trip to the Great Smoky Mountains and they offered great suggestions for exploration and for dining. The apartment was clean and cozy -- just right for hanging our hats at the end of the day. It gave us more of a taste of NC than a hotel would have. The location was convenient to the different areas that we ventured to.

    Jan2016-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This quaint little cottage is simply adorable. Providing comforts to get away for the weekend. Close to hiking trails, micro beweries, outdoor activities and is away from the daily grind. Thoroughly recommended to simply get away.

  • This cottage is rustic and extremely quiet. It is a little difficult to find at first, but once we arrived, it was very peaceful and comfortable. Overall, our visit was very pleasant.

    Tyler2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the David and Suzanne's cottage. The listing says it has a couch but we were pleasantly surprised to see that it was a futon. Perfect for us since we were traveling with our son and he got a nice futon instead of a couch. It has a full kitchen and the freezer was stocked with ice and a frosted beer stein. Their dogs greeted us upon arrival and were very sweet. The location is very pretty and quiet. Do not believe (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps to find their house once you are nearby. They live on a wooded hill top, not in a trailer home as (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps will lead you.

  • We had a great time staying with John. Everything was as described. John was great at communicating and was helpful, calm and kind when our car got stuck on the driveway up to his house. It was also very nice talking to Dukes, his renter on the bottom floor, who helped us get situated with our car. His cat and dog were very cute too!

You'll be staying in a residential community in the beautiful Tuckaseegee River Valley near Great Smoky Mountain National Park and a few miles from Western Carolina University. We have gorgeous mountain views and can hear the river. Your apartment is on the ground floor and includes a living area, kitchenette, closet and private bathroom. When we're in town we stay upstairs with our own entrance - so your space is completely private.
The apartment is comfortable and quiet. It has a queen murphy bed and drop down table which provides everything you need in one cozy space. The room includes a flat-screen television with VCR for retro video watching and DVD for slightly less retro video watching. An HDMI cable allows you to hook up your device to stream shows. We can provide 4" mattresses for the floor for up to 2 more people upon request and have a pack and play available for your use, but the room is most comfortable for 2 people. The kitchen appliances are smaller than typical but still fit most cooking needs.
Walkable neighborhood features a sidewalk to the nearest grocery store, a softball/kickball field behind the house, and beautiful Tuckaseegee River - best fly fishing river in the East- which can be heard from your open window and only a short walk away. Our home is on a scenic bike route. Nearby attractions include fly fishing, rafting, hiking, and quaint downtown Sylva and Dillsboro. Driving to Western Carolina University takes about 7 minutes, Blue Ridge Parkway is 20 min, and Bryson City, Smoky Mountain Railroad, and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park are all under 30 minutes away.
  • I've stayed at a few AirBnB locations over the last year or so and this location was one of my favorites. Everything was just as described. We will likely return in the future!

  • My wife and I have stayed at a decent number of airbnbs in the United States, Canada, and Europe, and this has been one of our favorite stays thus far. The room was spacious, clean, and included all the necessary amenities for a very comfortable stay. We stayed here for the 2017 eclipse, and it was great to be such a short drive form downtown Sylva. Getting into town early to get parking was no problem. Sara and her family were delightful hosts and check in and check out we're worry free. Highly recommended if you are visiting Sylva.

A perfect blend of farmhouse and cottage, my place is close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, Nantahala River, Fontana Lake, Lake Glenville, WCU, hiking, and waterfalls. My place is a great central location for those wanting to visit Bryson City, Cherokee, Cashiers, and Highlands. Just 10 minutes from Dillsboro and Sylva, NC. You’ll love my place because of the cozy decor, mountain views, and central location. My place is good for couples and solo adventurers.
A cozy cottage farmhouse with one large room and separate full bath. Farmhouse and vintage decor, furnishings and fabrics, surrounded by forest with Smoky Mountain views. Satellite TV, Wifi, hair dryer, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, washer/dryer, Keurig coffeemaker with coffee pods and coffee condiments included. New in March 2017: wrap around deck with sunset view.
The neighborhood consists of private homes, each setting on 1 - 3 acre parcels. Owner's home is located adjacent to the space, about 30 feet away.
  • Mary Anne's place was such a lovely retreat. The place was clean, quiet, and had every amenity that we needed for our relaxing weekend away. Mary Anne was so hospitable and checked on us multiple times to make sure our stay was going well without being a bothersome host, which we really appreciated. She had thought of every detail possible to make sure it felt like a real get-away. We loved our stay, and would stay again in a heart beat!

    Chelsea2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a perfect spot to be able to spend a few days in the mountains. The waterfall recommendation near Living Waters was incredible to see. We are so glad we saw that in your book. The cottage was very nice and well-kept. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • Beautiful place to stay, like it was out of a magazine. Had such a great time here!

    Aaron2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so great. Clean, well decorated, comfortable bed, stocked with everything we needed to enjoy a few days to ourselves. Definitely meant for a couple. The view of the mountains was just the right way to end the day of exploring. I thought the location was nicely located so you were close to outdoor activities but not so far away from Asheville. We would stay again.

    Staci2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Anne's place was absolutely stunning! She has obviously put so much into the details and planning of this perfect little cabin! She was a wonderful host with quick responses and excellent recommendations of places nearby to visit. We would be so happy to visit again!!

  • My husband and I came here for our first wedding anniversary and it met and went above all expectations thank you so much.

    Brittany2017-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is an ADORABLE house. We called it our "tiny cabin." Mary Anne has thought of everything. You won't lack for a thing - and if you do she'll get it from her own house. How great is that? You will truly think you are living in a segment of Fixer Upper. She has great hiking ideas, a very organized house book and again - believe me - everything you can think of. Scissors, paper, pens, first aide kit, laundry detergent, dryer sheets lots of small appliances. The house is secluded (although it's in a small neighborhood) with a lovely view and a hammock to drink it all up in. Only one tiny warning: This isn't near lots of good restaurants or fast food places (which is a bonus for most) ... but I wanted to make sure others knew they'd need to bring food or travel a ways if you MUST have prepared foods. Hope you enjoy as much as we did!

    Susan2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Anne's cabin is the perfect romantic hideaway! Just hope you have a good car to climb that mountain! Well Worth the climb! We will be back!

And there is also a mini game table with pool, ping pong, and air hockey.
the neighborhood is quiet, secluded, and there is very little traffic. You will be surrounded by the mountains and the river.
  • Great place to stay! The cabin was clean and very well kept. Loved the location very near great trout fishing.

    William2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this home. Wish I could have my coffee every morning on her porch while looking at the river.

    jennifer2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was amazing. Clean, cozy and everything I was looking for. I do wish there would of been river access. As this is one of main reasons for our trip. It would of been nice to raft from our cabin, or at least be able to swim. But the cabin was wonderful. I love the kids room, the game table, and how much room we had. For a family of 7, it was so perfect. Thanks for letting us stay in your wonderful cabin!!

    Jennifer2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This house is perfect! It's quiet and beautiful and was the perfect place to come home to after a day spent seeing the sights of the area. Victoria was always quick to respond and I don't have one negative thing to say about my stay here!

    Matthew2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful and private along the river! Plenty of seating for large groups to eat together. Several games and TVs for group activities and a well laid out space for some private time too. The bathroom heaters were wonderful for cold winter visits.

    Dawn2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Victoria's place for the eclipse, and it really couldn't have been more perfect. The house is in a quiet community, and it looks out over the Tuckasegee River. There are two large patios with seating to enjoy the incredible view, and occasionally you catch a glimpse of the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad train across the way. There was plenty of space, and the house was nice and tidy. We definitely recommend this spot, and will visit again if we wind up down that way.

    Michael and Niina2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place! Out of time and space! You can really enjoy and spend a great family moment. I sincerely recomand Victoria's place!

  • A cozy cabin, in the woods, close to town ... but private enough to enjoy a romantic dinner or a relaxing morning cup of coffee on the porch. From the handmade tiles to the stained glass windows this cabin is an artisans dream stay. Teri is a fabulous hostess, she met us and showed us the loop around town and that was it. She was a phone call away if we needed anything. I can't imagine a better spot to stay! I will definitely book here again on my next mountain adventure!

    Jacqueline 2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We met Teri at the cabin and she was very pleasant and informative. She left fresh apples, oatmeal cookies and English muffins for breakfast. The bed was super comfortable, the air conditioners were welcomed, and the shower was nice and hot with a good flow. The washer and dryer were handy for us to do a quick load of clothes while on the road. Everything was well equipped and functional. Very nicely decorated and we could look out over a peaceful meadow, and watch birds in the trees. Sorry we couldn't have spent more time there. Friendly, playful cat too!

    Kirk2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location. Secluded and rural, yet close to town. Very comfortable.

    Chris2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • First experience with an Air BNB and it was a home run! Quiet venue with plenty of space and amenities. It was much larger than expected and more than enough room for a couple's getaway weekend. Close to downtown Sylva and a nice seafood restaurant within walking distance. Teri was very attentive to our stay and gone the extra mile to leave us fruit, candy and muffins to munch on. Comfy adjustable queen size bed, large living area and a full kitchen were a plus also!

    Jeff2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Teri was very friendly and helpful. She even drove out to guide us to the cabin after our gps led us a little astray. The cabin was roomy, private, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. It is in a great location near downtown Sylva. We would definitely love to stay here again.

    Linda2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • My grandson and I were very happy and comfortable in our stay at Teri's beautiful home. Everything you need in a house was provided, the kitchen was fully equipped, and the bed and bedroom was to die for. The living room has a sleeper couch equipped with an air mattress, which my grandson loved, and everywhere there were different and beautiful art or craft pieces. Nice and clean, too. The view from the deck was a lovely serene meadow, and Teri was nearby and a very accommodating and helpful host. I would definitely stay again if I were in the area.

  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Lisa's Beautiful Smoky Mountain Home. There were two large bedrooms and private bathrooms that enabled the four of us to spread out and relax. There were ample utensils along with an outdoor grill that made cooking easy. The location was quiet, easy to locate, and had a breathtaking view of the sunrise over the Smoky Mountains. We would stay at Lisa's again should we be in the area.

  • Beautiful location up in the mountains in NC. Peaceful and quiet with stunning views & close to lots of outdoor activities. I did not get to meet Gretchene, but Nap was kind and welcoming, and a great host. The room was clean and comfortable . The road up to the lodge is steep & narrow but it can be traversed without 4WD -- my old sedan made it with no trouble. I definitely recommend staying here.

  • If you love the idea of waking up to a gorgeous view of the mountains from your room, this is the place for you. The home is beautifully furnished and very comfortable. You can spend hours just relaxing on the deck or take advantage of some of the many activities available in the area. Plan to arrive the first day before dark since it can be a little hard to find, but Nap can send you very specific directions. He was a very gracious host.

  • Beautiful, well-appointed house with a great view! We really enjoyed our time here, and appreciated their leniency on our departure time due to the inclement weather. Our only minor complaint was that the hot tub didn't seem to heat very quickly or very well. That made it hard to enjoy as we were hoping. Great experience overall!

  • We enjoyed this cozy cabin on the creek. The creek was beautified and we loved the large porch area. The cabin itself was very quaint and beds were comfortable. It had all the amenities we needed. It was close to cute small mountain downtowns such as Dillsboro and downtown Sylva (less than a 10 minute drive). We recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a pleasant mountain getaway.

  • The cabin was a very comfortable and peaceful experience. My family enjoyed this beautiful cabin for a vacation and we all didn't want to leave. Drinking coffee on the poach with the running creek and mountain air was a great way to start the day. The cabin was as advertised and very clean and comfortable, with all you need. The cabin was 15-20 minutes to all the great shops, restaurants, and fishing in the area. Nate was a excellent host and timely in all communication. We will plan to come back on our next visit to Western Carolina and recommend Nate's cabin to all who love the Smokey mountains.

  • We stayed in the cabin over our 25th anniversary and enjoyed a wonderful quiet time. We were traveling with our dog and she had a great time playing in the yard by the creek while we enjoyed the solitude. The location was perfect, close enough to the towns when we wanted it and far enough away to feel like we had privacy. Everything was clean and comfortable. The fridge and oven were the perfect size for the two of us but may be challenging for a larger crowd. Nate was available for questions and to help us find some place for dinner our anniversary night. We were really pleased with our stay and definitely recommend it for anyone looking for some time in the mountains but still close to town. Thanks for sharing your beautiful cabin.

  • Amazing place with great scenery and really cozy

  • Absolutely love this cabin nestled on a creek. Convenient location that is easy to get to, close to Sylva and Franklin. You could not ask for a more relaxing mountain getaway spot. Already looking for an excuse to return!

    Martha2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • It is a great cabin with great utilities, amenities, and a wonderful host, but it is not as secluded as you may think. There is a busy road across from the creek, and cars shine their lights in the cabin at night as they pass. If this doesn't bother you, then you will have a great time.

    Jacob2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wish we could have been here all week, however we just had a short weekend. The cabin is in a great location and very easily accessible. There is plenty to do in the area...just have a plan because you will be overwhelmed with the options. The property itself is as described and was fantastic! Has everything you need and was very clean when we arrived. The property is a great size and there is plenty of room along the creek to relax. Dealing with Nate was very easy and I cannot say one bad thing about our stay!

  • The Red Lantern Lodge was absolutely amazing for a family vacation! The management staff were prompt and informative, check in was incredibly easy. The house and the view are beautiful. It is secluded, but it was a quick drive to two towns and river tubing. I would recommend this house, and we are planning to return next year.

  • I took my family up to the mountains for my daughter's 18th birthday. We enjoyed our visit immensely. The cabin is absolutely amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend.

    Naomi2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome views and a great space. Love the patios off of all three floors. The recreational area in the basement is cool. We loved our time there and wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Great cabin!

    Bryanna2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning home with gorgeous views, privacy and plenty of room for a relaxing and fun family getaway! We stayed at Red Lantern for family weekend at WCU. The layout of the home was perfect to accommodate our family including grandparents! Great open layout with an incredible game room and hot tub! Beds were extremely comfortable and not one detail was overlooked . Beautiful fully stocked gourmet kitchen and more than enough towels and blankets. We spent a few extra days enjoying Sylva, Bryson City, hiking and tubing. The management company was top notch; friendly and professional. They even called when we arrived to make sure we were happy with our accommodations and to ask if we had any additional questions. I highly recommended both The Red Lantern property and Great Smoky Rentals.

    Katherine2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is the perfect spot for families to retreat and reconnect. We will hopefully be returning year after year! The company is helpful and easy to communicate with. The home is well stocked with necessities and has a wonderful book full of local spots to visit and eat at.

The Ruby bedroom is great for a quiet escape to the Great Smoky Mountains. It is one of our seven bedrooms in the Spirit of the Mountain Lodge. Guests staying at the Lodge are welcome in the main house and can enjoy the Grand Salon with TV, pool table and fooseball table, relax on our expansive front porch, workout in the exercise room, roast marshmallows in the fire pit, and enjoy all the mountains have to offer. A Butlers kitchen is available for your use. Refrigerators in all bedrooms.
Ruby is located at ground level and though not fully handicap approved, it has worked for many with special needs. It is a very spacious bedroom and could accommodate several air beds. If you want to have a larger gathering, please book the other rooms: Garnet (8), Emerald (2+), Topaz (2), and Amethyst (2). Sapphire (6), Amber (2+), and Spinel (4+) will be available in the future.
We are located in the middle of everything the mountains have to offer. Cherokee and Harrah's Casino are 7 miles away. The Nantahala Gorge- offering whitewater rafting, zip lines, horseback riding, hiking and other activities is about 30 minutes away. Many glorious waterfalls are easily in driving distance. We are one of the closest accommodations to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Gatlinburg and Pidgen Forge are just across the mountains and the drive is worth the hour it takes to travel there. Fishing is some of the best in the country ... and we could go on for hours, but come on over and we can tell you more.
  • Secluded, spacious, quiet and serene. Stayed in the Ruby Room, easy access and secure. Views are gorgeous and setting is spectacular. Would definitely stay here again. Hosts were very accommodating.

    Chris2017-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place with a gorgeous view in the mountains. We liked it a lot. I would highly suggest it to everyone.

    Diana2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately, due to a personal emergency that arose, I was not able to stay at Nancy's place. However, she was very responsive to my preliminary question and open to accommodating a request.

    Kristen2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The scenery surrounding the lodge is gorgeous. The main room, porch, and Ruby Room were all beautiful. Nancy was quick to respond and accommodate. We were in town for WCU homecoming and had difficulty finding taxis/Ubers (no fault of the lodge) just something to keep in mind.

    Krista2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Spectacular views are worth the steep drive to the top. Friendly help! Enjoyed our stay.

    Patty2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The seclusion, the view were wonderful.

    Kathy2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We never met the host, payed a lot for a old and dusty room. The way up to the house is steep and challenging, without a car not manageable. The beakfast is beside of orange juice and self made coffee not available, at the second day the table was all the same then we left it the morning before ( cleaned the spoon by our own). The host never tried to reach us and the wifi was off on the first day (while there is no mobile network available a problem for traveler's) More or less for us it felt like a ghost house.

    Philipp2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about our stay and accommodations. The View is absolutely breathtaking, our rooms were beautiful with a view. Definitely felt a sense relaxation and we were able to recharge yourselves. Our host Nancy was very knowledgeable about everything going on in the area to give us ideas so we can make the best out of our trip. This is definitely a Hidden Gem that we will go back to for years to come. Thank you for helping us make our vacation amazing.

  • An older classic home right in the heart of Dillsboro. Very convenient and walkable to all the Dillsboro has to offer; quaint shops, family style restaurants, the train depot and river, etc.. Also, very convenient to highway connecting the surrounding towns. We very much enjoyed the balcony overlooking the main road. Cool pleasant mornings and evenings made this spot a wonderful relaxing oasis for a glass of wine or coffee. Thank You Kate for a wonderful stay!

  • We had a great stay in the Orient Express room at the Whistle Stop Inn for WCU family weekend. Wonderful location right on the Main Street of charming Dillsboro. Our room had a very comfortable king bed and I was a little worried about the bathroom in the hall but it was very private and no big deal at all. Kate left snacks and waters in the breakfast room area at all times of the day. There were guests in 2 of the other rooms but we never knew they were there. Wonderful place to sit on the porch and people watch. There are some good restaurants in walking distance and we enjoyed live music at Lee's on the Depot. We will be back next year.

  • Our stay at the Whistle Stop Inn was great; we stayed in the Oriental Express suite and found it to be very comfortable. The inn itself has a late 1800’s history and the décor of antiques is a great touch. Kate, the owner, will do almost anything possible to ensure that your visit is a memorable one and she is a wealth of information about the town, its history, places to eat and things to see. The inn is within walking distance of restaurants and shops; the town of Dillsboro is just a few minutes from Sylva and close to Cherokee. I would highly recommend staying at Whistle Stop. Not to mention the train to Bryson City!!

  • I spent three weeks in this amazing cabin and location on a writing retreat. I did not want to leave. The cabin location is terrific, with the porch almost right above the river. It's newly remodeled with a great bathroom and kitchen area. The air conditioners kept the cabin cool when necessary, but I also enjoyed opening the windows to hear the sound of the river. There's a fan which I occasionally put in the window to blow on the porch when it was warm outside. I cooked most of my meals, so enjoyed the small (URL HIDDEN) was perfect for me. The wifi worked well, and the cabin has direct TV although I rarely turned it on. The porch was my favorite part with a wonderful rocking chair as well as table and chairs that I used as a desk. A number of geese kept me company and entertained. The hosts were wonderful and prompt with any questions, nearby but not intrusive. I have no complaints and hope that I can return to this lovely cabin.

    Mikee2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice getaway weekend at the cabin next to the Tuckasegee River. The cabin was very comfortable, and we loved seeing the geese, ducks and river wildlife from the large porch overlooking the river. I would recommend the cabin for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the NC mountains and the soothing sounds of the river.

    Thomas2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this cabin along the Tuckasegee River. The area was very quiet and relaxing. The cabin was very nice and clean and comfortable in every way. I liked it so much that on my first morning there, I requested an extension of one day to my stay, and Tavish was very prompt in responding and arranging the extra day with Airbnb for me. The cabin was only about a 15 to 20 minute drive from the Cherokee entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which I explored on 2 of my 3 days there. I definitely hope to be able to return to stay there another time, perhaps even later this summer. Thanks so much to Tavish and her family for hosting in this location.

    Marion2016-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most relaxing and pleasant places we've stayed. Jason had the cabin clean and ready. All we had to do was get the key from the box and walk in. Great arrangement. The sounds of the river splashing over the rocks just feet from our porch was one of the most memorable experiences we have had as a vacation. Located close to Cherokee and Bryson City, provided great access to the mountains and other attractions. This is the kind of place to go to just relax and enjoy the environment. We saw a gaggle of about 75 geese come in for landings. One of the most interesting things was our Muscovy duck host. Friendly, approachable, but recognizing appropriate boundaries. Great photos due to the location of the porch vis a vis the river. Give Jason a chance... You will NOT regret it...

    Richard2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect little cabin on the river! It was so peaceful and the kids enjoyed playing in the river. The location was a quick 20 minute drive to Nantahala. The cute little city of Dillsboro had yummy BBQ and Jack the dipper ice cream! Tavish was an excellent host that provided great suggestions and welcome!

    Lauren2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great view of the river, birds and steam railroad.

Rafting, Hiking, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Harrah's Casino. Just minutes away from the "mighty Tuck", a fisherman's paradise on the Tuckaseegee River
  • We enjoyed our long weekend stay here. The apt is really lovely and has huge space. Everything's clean and tidy. We love the kitchen and dining area and cooked a lot (it's really a great feeling when you cook at dawn and see the light through the trees). Not far from great smoky mountains and it's really convenient to go hiking nearby. Mary is really nice and helped us around with all the questions. Definitely will come back next time!

  • Anna was so very helpful with many aspects of my family's trip! We live in Glasgow, Scotland and come back a few times a year to visit family and friends. Anna rented this apartment to us for about a month which was great value! The apartment was a perfect size for us and Anna went above and beyond to make this a very memorable stay! I would definitely recommend this apartment!

  • This is a great apartment in a great location. If you plan to go to the Smokies, go to the east side (it is so much better than the west side) and stay here. The apartment is in a lovely neighborhood full of trees and falling leaves. We loved it!

    Dale2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very unique place to stay. It was a great apartment. The only thing unclear/not communicated or rather imposed was doing laundry before checking out. There was nothing in the house manual/rule book on airbnb regarding this. We did pay a cleaning fee but still had to do laundry for all the bed sheets, pillow covers and towels we used. Overall we had a great time.

Simple Times Cabin is located on a beautiful gravel road that has a creek. As you ride along the road, roll down the windows and listen to the sound of the creek. There are also lots of beautiful wild flowers to look at (along with the creek) during certain times of year.
