Some important additional information. During the Covid 19 situation / throughout March / April... we are only able to accommodate local frontline workers, NHS staff needing accomodation and specific related bookings. We do look forward to taking your booking for forty coming months as availability permits and will give you a very warm welcome. Here is our usual introduction and basic information for you... We are a friendly, welcoming country house in one Dartmoor's most popular locations. We look forward to offering you a very comfortable stay and friendly, warm welcome within the private accommodation. We hope you'll find soaking and bubbling in our new high end luxury Hotsprings hydrotherapy hot tub - pretty special after a day of exploring. (On the odd occasion use of the hot tub maybe delayed slightly on your arriving day due to a warm refill and reheat or extended clean-we aim to have it functional on these rare occasions by the evening) it’s extremely rare that a slight delay occurs. The hot tub is for your groups soul use, it is not shared. We ask that the hot tub cover is always opened and closed by two people. This is lovely, spacious, cosy accomodation; there are two bedrooms and it's located within a private garden level of a large and historic country house (we can add extra children's beds after discussion if required), we've an amazing outdoor private hot tub- with beautiful sky's and Dartmoor air, it's really something to bubble the night away. We have wifi Internet and there's a flat screen TV with Freeview, a fully fitted kitchen with all the appliances you'd expected. The self contained Garden Rooms offers all the expected facilities and more including A Tassimo coffee machine. There's a large shower / wet room and separate toilet. There's a large private natural stone patio, and huge tiered decked seating area for outdoor entertaining & relaxing. The Garden Rooms are lit by an array of sumptuous gentle warm lamps adding very cosy and welcoming feel to what is the beautiful, airy, contemporary and spacious Garden Rooms. The house dates to approximately 1850 and is steeped in published history. We're only a 2 minute walk from open moorland and a 5 min walk from great local country pubs; it's only a 10 minute drive to Tavistock or the River Dart. There's a local post office, cafes and two country pubs in walking distance. We are also a very close walk to The National Park Moorland Visitors Centre. The main floors of the house are separate and our small family do live in the upper house, our Garden Rooms are on the lower ground floor of the main property and private to our guests; we offer the option for well behaved dog guests at a small extra charge (£10.00 per night per dog, we just ask dogs are not left alone at any point ( there are many many dog friendly pubs and some great restaurants too - we can send you an ideas list with this included information), we ask dogs do not climb or rest on soft furnishings and that they are cleaned up afterwards of course), this can be paid on arrival. Of course children are very, very welcome. We have safe key code access available if required, we offer full facilities for couples, familes or small groups of friends looking for some time out in a great location. We are only approximately 6.5 miles from Tavistock - and low cost Taxi fares are available if you fancy a night out with no driving; we'd be happy to assist you in booking a great local relaxed restaurant, or giving you some unique pointers of places to eat, drink or visit-so there's no need to miss out on finding great places. The area is fantastic for relaxing, and exploring the beautiful local villages and the local town of Tavistock. For the more energetic it's a fabulous location for biking (local bike hire's available), riding (local riding centres), climbing (The Barn), hiking, canoeing and kayaking (we can also assist you in booking great kayaking too with a family kayak business), fishing, photography and more... The Dartmoor scenery is hugely varied and really spectacular. There are lots of tantalising 'foodie venues', close by; plus markets and lovely shops in and around Dartmoors local villages and Towns. Dartmoor's a fantastic location to equally enjoy easy day trips to a wealth of north or south coast villages, beaches and river valleys (in Devon and Cornwall). We wish you an easy and relaxing homely stay. We don’t have outdoor lighting, although the hot tub has its own great underwater lighting and the patio doors allow light from the lounge to shine outside near the hot tub. Some guests bring a torch if they are arriving or departing The Garden Rooms in the dark - we recommend you bring a torch for dark nights. The Garden Rooms has some internal stairs, and also a couple of steps accessing The Garden Rooms and the private patio and deck area. Please be aware wet surfaces Inside and out can be slippy of course, and ensure you and your party are in good health to use our hot tub, there's also an wildlife pond. Babies. If you require a cot or high chair please give us a weeks notice to ensure this is available. Please bring your own cot mattress and your preferred baby sheets. • An excellent host with a beautiful property in an amazing location for walking, outdoor pursuits or just a relaxing weekend. The accommodation is spotless and well equipped. The hot tub was very clean and a lovely treat in the evening. Holls will help you with anything you need and is quick to respond to any messages/queries. Would definitely choose again if returning to the area.

  • The holls is such a nice place to stay! The hosts were so lovely and informative and the place itself is outstanding! We all loved the hot tub and would all recommend a meal at the local pub the Prince of Wales

  • My friends and I had such a fantastic stay at Holls place, the hot tub was a big aspect of choosing this location and it did not let us down. We were all very warm and felt welcome for the few days we were there. We didn’t manage to get out much due to the weather but we felt right at home as soon as we arrived. Cleanliness was the best it could be, the beds were insanely comfy and the kitchen was like a home away from home.

    Mol2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place with plenty of space. My boys loved the hot tub and we chilled and watched DVDs as we had a storm while staying. Holls rang to check all ok and all was as we expected- lovely. The kids want to visit next winter.

    Claire2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place with brilliant hot tub and ideal location to explore the area. Dog friendly also which is a big plus.

    Matthew2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely place! Very spacious, comfy big couch and very cosy. The Hot tub was the 5* luxury we needed after exploring the Dartmoor with our dogs. Perfect location to start loads of days out! The pub down the road, Plume Of Feathers, is only a few minutes walk and serves delicious food while still giving that feel of being the locals favourite. x

    Franziska2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Another perfectly relaxing stay with Holls. Even though the weather wasn't playing ball, it was no hardship to spend a few evenings chilling in the hot tub. Cannot recommend enough!

  • Fantastic little getaway with an amazing hot tub!

    Ruth2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Katy’s place as a surprise for my sister and her boyfriend and it definitely lived up to expectations! The cottage was extremely clean and a perfect set up for their little weekend away. They certainly made use of the hot tub and said Katy was super friendly and they loved meeting the dog too! They had a lovely walk in South Milton and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Would definitely recommend and return. Thank you!

  • We had a fantastic stay and couldn't have asked for more! The house had everything we needed for eating, drinking and cooking and stayed really warm the whole time. The hot tub was perfect and made the stay extra special. Information of local things to do and shops close by was really helpful too - thank you for such a great experience!

    Rachel2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for 2 nights with my partner and we couldn’t fault a thing. We were greeted on arrival and given tips on the best places to visit in the area, they were very friendly and welcoming. Easy to contact also, they even politely gave us some foil that we’d forgot to buy from the shop! (It’s only a 10/15 minute drive to Tesco.) The fire and the heated floor boards made everything so warm and cosy, just wish we’d booked even longer. Thanks again for such great hospitality!

    Helen2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • A peaceful and restful retreat. The local eggs available from the farm made for a tasty breakfast. Katy had left out several informative local brochures for us to taylor our stay at The Dairy, which were extremely helpful. Ending the day relaxing in the hot tub ! We would definitely stay again with Katy.

  • House was lovely and warm , everything we needed was in the kitchen, upstairs was lovely. Bathroom great. Proved a good location from which to explore.

    Clive2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was wonderfully relaxing (I have been using that word a lot!!). The house felt like a home away from home. It was perfectly located, cozy, warm and so welcoming. Zoe was also very responsive and supportive (even to my silly questions) I would happily come back and recommend!

    Berangere2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A very comfortable character cottage with thoughtful touches. Private location but very close to local amenities. 100% recommended and we will be going back!

    Julie2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach House is well located and has everything you need. The view out onto the Moors from the garden/ drive is a great start to your day as you head out. You can easily walk from the Coach House out onto the Moors , a real bonus. The log burner kept us cosy on a winter break. The fresh flowers, pint of milk and Jail ale were thoughtful touches , thank you.

  • Ideal location - walking distance from the pub and Dartmoor on your doorstep! Lovely cosy place, warm and everything you need.

    Samantha2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at The Coachhouse for two nights. We had a lovely relaxing stay; we knew Zoe was on hand should we need our assistance but liked that we were given our privacy. The accommodation was perfect for our needs and the location is wonderful for exploring the moors. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend staying here.

    Claire2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location with superb access on foot to the moors. Cottage was lovely and well equipped. Recommended!

    Jane2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely place. Directions were perfect, found it very easily. Parking and finding our way in were also very simple. The log burner was the best! We loved spending the evenings drying by the fire after our wet walks on the moor. Zoey happily topped up the log basket in the second day after we had used the first lot up. The kitchen is well equipped, we were able to make dinner each night very easily. Great sized bathroom with a separate bath, perfect for soaking your muscles after walking all day. To top it off the bed was also very comfy. The courtyard was secure which was helpful when letting our little dog out in the morning and before going to bed. Will definitely be visiting again

This is a beautiful place to live, a gem we found a few years ago and have gradually been transforming into our forever home. We love the combination of privacy with rural living and proximity to the wonderful South Hams places, events and culture. Waking up to gorgeous views, listening to the birds and countryside noises is bliss.

  • We had a really lovely weekend away here, Alasdair was there to greet us on arrival and show us around the shepherd’s hut. We had a lovely meal at the Church House Inn which was 15 minutes’ walk away with a great atmosphere. The hot tub was the real highlight and really made our trip! We also visited Thurleston Sands which was a great beach nearby and Kingsbridge which was a lovely little town. The Shepherd’s Hut was fantastic and we would definitely stay here again.

    Faye2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic Shepard’s hut with everything you need! Small, Warm and cosy. A stunning peaceful location, outstanding area just 15 minutes to the coast. Siobahn & Alistair were excellent hosts, seeing them at the local pub and even gave us a lift to the bus stop! Loved the Hot Tub.

    Pete2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Siobahn’s place is in a great location with real privacy. The hut itself is clean and well equipped with everything you could need. The hot tub is to a good standard and has a nice outlook over the neighbouring fields and rolling hills.

    Hannah2020-02-25T00:00:00Z

Alistair and Siobahn are such lovely hosts, they really go above and beyond and are so easily contacted when/if needed. The place itself is so cute and has everything you need plus a hot tub!! We came for a long weekend for my boyfriends birthday and it’s a perfect base to explore the local area - it’s only a £20 taxi home from Salcombe if you fancy a few bevs. The pub that’s a ten minute walk is lovely too with great food and friendly staff. We built this room to enjoy the view. And now you can too. From inside or out on the balcony you look down the Yealm estuary towards the sunset. It is just a studio, but rest assured, it is like no other. PS, Yes we had called it the Garden Room b4
Welcome to our room with a view. We built this room in 2015 to take full advantage of the view down the estuary of the River Yealm towards the sun setting in the West. If your idea of getting way involves a bit of fun, a splash of adventure and more than a hint of luxury then we think you may well be happy here. It is a simple 1 room studio with a wall of glass which folds back so you can step straight onto the deck overlooking the water or to the covered terrace at the side. When it is warm you can really open up the space to the outside. There is electric heating for when its colder. It has a wet room shower, basin and WC. But be warned you have to step out on the terrace to access it, so bring a dressing gown. Being a studio there isn't a full kitchen, just a kettle, coffee maker and a microwave. And you will have to step out again to do your washing up in the Belfast sink on the terrace. All this is in our lower garden between the lane and the estuary. We are one of the last houses in the village before the lane heads off through the woods to the sea, joining up with the South West Coastal Path. Keen walkers will not be disappointed. Gourmands may well want to wander back the other way into the village to dine at the renowned Ship Inn. Or you can come and join us, we run the Noss Mayo Tea Gardens on our upper terrace on summer weekends. Inside you will find plenty of soft furnishings made by Kathryn and some of Kathryn and Andy's driftwood art. We hope you find Noss Mayo as creative and inspiring a place as we do. Because it has been so carefully created we do ask for a cleaning fee, to help keep it that way. Dogs are welcome, but try and keep them off the cushions….. we do ask a higher cleaning charge for those of you bringing dogs, please read all about in the house rules section. Thanks.
Noss Mayo is quite a spot, a narrow estuary village, about as beautiful as any piece of England, make sure you spend 1 evening just sitting on the terrace as the sun goes down. You will go away with memories (and sand in the car footwells).
  • Amazing scenery / view and perfect location. Right on the precipice of the the amazing coast line and walking distance to the well renowned ship pub. Will be visiting again and would highly recommend to anyone wanting some peace and quiet with amazing walks available.

    Angus2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful studio right on the estuary perfect for a couple. Loved waking up to this view every morning! Kathryn has thought of everything you’d need for your stay with lots of thoughtful little touches such as dressing gowns and slippers. Despite storm Dennis making an appearance whilst we were there, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

    Tony2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, exactly as expected with some lovely extra touches. We loved our stay. Thank you!

    Charlotte2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • I wasn’t sure what to expect from the little village of Noss Mayo, but the River Room and Kathryn herself exceeded all of them. Not only did she treat me like family, she went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. From driving tips for the narrow Devon roads, to guiding me across the estuary at low tide, this was definitely an adventure I won’t soon forget. She is thoughtful and kind, and it shows in every nook and cranny of the River Room. I sincerely hope I’ll find myself in Noss Mayo again sometime!

With a yoga platform in the garden and surrounded countryside, its the perfect retreat for couples, yogi or a small family looking for a relaxed getaway near the sea. Max 4 people!

Its beautiful setting and location make it a perfect place to retreat to. The garden has a yoga platform for those who want to salute the Devon sun. Its located in a valley with a handful of other holiday cottages nearby and in sight, though its elevated place on the hill means its quiet and feels private. She is to stay outdoors, although she loves a cuddle and feed if you like cats! During the winter, it is snug, cosy and warm! There are village shops and excellent pubs in Thurlestone (1.5m), Bantham (0.9m) and Churchstow (2m) and Kingsbridge (4m) offers a supermarket, banks, numerous shops, cafes, galleries, yoga studio and a regular farmers markets. Just a short way from the award winning Bantham Beach, this is an area with incredible country walks in every direction leaving the house. The solitude and quiet of the valley is at the heart of its charm and with little light pollution, its a great place for star gazing at night. Truly a beautiful retreat!

    Sarah2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely cottage in a stunning location. A very grown up and comfortable place to stay right on the edge of the Moors. Angela's communication is spot on and she is very welcoming and friendly. The cottage is very private and relaxing with a lovely log burner and comfortable sofa and bed.

  • If you are looking for a warm cosy cottage, with great access to walks on the moor, then this is the place! Very clean with some lovely touches. Would happily stay again.

  • We came here the same day I arrived from Australia, and this was just the peace and tranquility needed to rest off the jet lag. Winding through the narrow lanes and hedgerows, you will find a lovely, quaint cottage on a lush property with amazing views of the moor. Immaculately clean and tidy space, cosy and with nice touches, everything you could need for a comfortable stay. It was lovely meeting Angela, she had the fire built for us when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed. We explored some of the charming towns, had a stroll by the river just down the road, and enjoyed a movie with the cosy fire crackling away. We’d love to come back again!

    Ben2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to get away from it all you couldn't do much better than Angela's place

    Leslie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend this cottage, a charming space located in a beautiful location with easy accessibility to both moors and beaches.

    Fenella2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is perfectly set up for a peaceful and relaxing break. The narrow country lanes are an experience to navigate (especially for a Londoner!) but it’s such a beautiful area to explore, especially with a dog. The cottage is well equipped and lovely and cosy. Angela was a fantastic host with great communication in the lead up and available if we needed anything. Thank you for a wonderful stay :)

  • Very clean & modern space set in the Dartmoor countryside. Great location for walking or a quiet getaway. Serena & Jez were wonderful hosts. Our daughter loved hand feeding the chickens and petting a sheep! We would definitely return!

    Kim2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Serena’s place is a real gem, a completely unexpected flash of modern minimalism in the rural heart of Dartmoor. Check in was exceptionally easy, with great communication. The lodge was spotlessly clean and welcomingly warm on arrival. The lodge is well kept and stylishly decorated, and was certainly very comfortable. The large open plan living space was perfect for unwinding after a long day walking on the moors, and the soft beds and silent surroundings resulted in a perfect night’s sleep. I wouldn’t hesitate to head back to the lodge, we had a wonderful time!

    Ross2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, very accommodating and even drove out to help us when storm Denis gave us a bit of grief. Very spacious yet cosy pad with everything you need to make yourself at home. Private too and most importantly to us, very quiet. Definitely recommended if you want to escape it all and explore some of what the Moors have to offer.

    Richard2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • I want to tell you how stunning and lovely our stay was, but then you would all book it and I'd rather it stayed a secret 😂 so I won't. It's perfect. Great beds, lovely location. All mod cons, including hairdryers, washing machine and dryer, TV, WiFi. Definitely my favourite Airbnb stay!

    Bonnie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely find in the middle of the moors. Arrival was seamless and easy, the house was warm and cozy. Lots of nice touches that made it lovely. The hosts have really thought the place out well - cots, drying racks, simple kitchen bits and bobs, maps of the area and clear instructions. Real luxury on a wet, cold paddling weekend.

  • This place is an absolute gem. Much better than the pictures - we walked in and were amazed! Black out blinds in the bedrooms and the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on - it was a struggle to persuade ourselves to leave! Area-wise: very remote and minutes walk away from the “real” Dartmoor land, which we adored. Definitely pack your wellies! Thank you so much for a lovely stay!

The Annex was warm, clean and cosy with a comfortable bed and bedding, stylish artwork and decor Many kitchen basics were provided including tea, coffee, bread, butter and milk. There’s also a pamphlet you’ll find on arrival with great local tips and detailed house instructions. I found my stay at the Annex to be great value and would definitely recommend this place! Hope to stay again next time I’m down in the west country! :-)

The Mews is the perfect romantic cottage for 2 - complete with a woodfired hot tub in your private garden and a roll top antique bath in the bedroom! It is situated on our coastal organic dairy farm on the South Devon coast. French doors open out onto the patio from the bedroom, giving you an area of total privacy (apart from the odd cow peering over the fence perhaps) from which to soak up the serenity of the surrounding countryside and to enjoy a soak in the gorgeous wooden hot tub.
Situated on Lambside Farm, this lovely detached stone building was originally a barn and home to a domesticated gos hawk. Named in honour of its former resident, it has been thoughtfully renovated to provide delightful, modern accommodation for two people. The Mews has been arranged to give complete seclusion and offers an open plan living area downstairs with a woodburner, and a modern kitchen with a small dining area. There is also a small cloakroom downstairs with a toilet and basin. Outside is a delightful secluded patio and garden with your own private wooden woodfired hot tub – so romantic! A spiral staircase winds up to the first floor, also open plan, which has a king size bed and bathroom area with toilet (discreetly hidden behind the bookcase), hand basin and a wonderful antique roll top bath, quirkily painted like a cow! French doors open out onto the patio from the bedroom, giving you an area of total privacy (apart from the odd cow peering over the fence perhaps) from which to soak up the serenity of the surrounding countryside and to enjoy a soak in the gorgeous wooden hot tub. The kitchen even has a Nepresso coffee machine so you can make a perfect expresso to enjoy while sitting on the patio in the morning sun! The Mews has a telephone (incoming and emergency calls only), underfloor heating downstairs, central heating upstairs, a private parking area and all the standard facilities that we offer. Superior 100% white cotton bed linen and big fluffy towels and bath robes are all provided, as well as tea-towels, bath mats and environmentally friendly cleaning materials. We put delicious local organic milk in the fridge for your arrival – with our compliments, along with enough recycled paper toilet rolls, Fair Trade tea, coffee, sugar and local organic herbal tea to get you started!
In the heart of the South Hams in Devon, Carswell Farm is surrounded by unspoilt countryside and the coastal path is right on the doorstep, providing stunning walks that lead to quiet beaches and picturesque villages. The farm is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with an exceptional variety of wildlife and plants, including some extremely rare species that are encouraged because the farm is organic. Carswell is one of the few places in the country where you could spot a cirl bunting and there is a pair of faithful Peregrine Falcons who nest on the cliff here every year. We have an abundance of wildlife – hares, bats and badgers are just a few of the residents you are sure to see, and many more besides. We have barn owls and little owls residing in the old barns behind Lambside House – walk down the farm lane and see if you can see them out hunting.
  • An amazing place to stay, very clean and cosy.

  • This is a lovely converted barn with views overlooking the farm and moors, easy to find and access. The fireplace is so cozy after a day out and the facilities are great, with a lovely super king bed. There is no TV but it has WiFi and radio so more than sufficient. Stephen was very hospitable and welcoming, fresh eggs provided, lots of firewood and also gave us a OS map to borrow when we decided not to trust Google's directions! (shortest route somewhere is not necessarily the best/easiest!) Good location for a secluded escape but near enough to travel to the coast or hike the moors.

    Ami2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely peaceful and cosy place to stay. The fire already lit and eggs from the farm on arrival was a nice welcoming touch. Very easy to check in and hosts always available if needed. Will definitely come to stay again.

  • A perfect place for some R&R! No tv, a log fire, Dartmoor walks with our dog, it was bliss. We had a really relaxing stay and would thoroughly recommend. Widecome is just down the road and has some lovely pubs and cafes as well.

  • A beautiful place in a beautiful remote part of Dartmoor. Perfect for those rainy days (we had our fair share) and the abundance of wood for the wood burner meant a wonderful relaxing stay with a cozy fire despite the weather. Stephen and family were very kind and helpful and were always available if needed. Thank you for a great stay.

    Donna2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Yonder Shippon was well equipped, cosy with a brilliant wood burner and comfy bed making it a perfect pace to relax and unwind. It is brilliantly positioned for great walks from the cottage up on to the moor and so much to visit near by. We will be back.

    Lesley2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and cosy cottage in Dartmoor with everything you could possibly need for a weekend (or longer!) away. Great location near Widecombe in the Moor, with walks, a lovely pub, and attractions nearby. Stephen was quick to respond to any messages and available during the stay if we had any issues. The fresh eggs from the chickens in next door field were a lovely (and tasty) surprise!

    Sara2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted a rural getaway for a few days where we could explore Dartmoor and relax by a fire. Our stay at Yonder Shippon could not have been better. We arrived around 9pm, Stephen was kind enough to come out meet us at a junction just up the road as we had gotten lost in the dark! We were welcomed into the property with a roaring fire, which we made use of each morning and evening. The house is beautifully designed and decorated with a mezzanine floor, quality furnishings and plenty of utensils to cook. It was wonderful surprise having fresh eggs on arrival and ample firewood for our three days. Being able to wander around the farm was a real bonus as was waking up to expansive views of the surrounding hills. We hiked and biked around Dartmoor in what was pretty rough weather until the last day where sunshine and clear skies showed us what the area really had to offer and we were kindly allowed to checkout later to make the most of it! Outdoor storage beneath the lean-to was useful for our bikes and our host was communicative throughout. Overall, we could not have had a better stay. After a days out on the hills, coming back to cosy accommodation, with great views, fire, comfy bed and generally everything you needed, just led to a perfect stay. We have already recommended it to others and shall definitely be coming to stay again.

  • Nice cottage, not much to do in the area but they have put a games room, swimming pool and hot tub in another building just a 20 second walk from the cottage. Nice place if you want to get away from civilisation and the world. The connection is poor so you’ll always have to be connected to the WiFi if you want to make phone calls or send messages.

  • Claire’s place is homely and great for families. Beautiful walks. A fantastic games room the kids would love and swimming pool. We booked the hot tub and enjoyed bringing in the new year at such a fun place. Highly recommend

  • We stayed in the cottage for Christmas, Claire decorated it for our arrival. It’s clean, spacious and very homely. The fire was roaring and the kitchen was perfect for cooking Christmas dinner. The area is beautiful for dog walking. It’s fairly remote so a car is essential. We had a wonderful stay and felt very welcome.

  • I visited for a long weekend with friends and we all had a fantastic time. The cottage was clean and spacious, with a great games room available to use with snooker and ping pong, and in a lovely location that was easy to get to walks around Dartmoor from. All-in-all fantastic value.

The lodge is south facing so nice and sunny ! Very peaceful and private. You can relax on the terrace and have the joy of your own grounds. It is well situated for the South West Coastal Path, Dartmoor and country walks , amazing beaches - no need to get in the car if walking is your thing .
There are many good pubs nearby with great reputations for good food and friendly service . Close to a village shop and nearby Modbury for everyday needs.
  • A wonderful bolt hole to explore a beautiful part of the world. Laura was a very good host with quick responses, checking we had everything we needed and making sure we had some lovely scones on arrival. She even left some dog biscuits for our dog Monti. Exceptionally clean and loads of room. A real home from home

    Melanie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a quiet location this is for you. Splendid walks from the door. Being out of the main season, it was great for the dog as they are allowed on most of the beaches. Local pub offered good food, and the shop ....all only 5 mins drive away.

  • A fantastic lodge in a beautiful setting with everything you need! We wished we had booked for longer!

    Simon2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful lodge which was ideal for us and our 2 dogs! Laura made it very welcoming and left us some lovely treats which were an added bonus :) We did some great coast and beach walks nearby, the weather quite wild at times but the lodge very warm to come back too! I would definitely recommend and imagine in the summer it must be even better with the lovely terrace to enjoy :)

    Kate2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted a place away from everything to simply relax and take the dogs out for walks. We couldn’t have picked a better place. Very easy access to the coastal walk, 45min from Dartmoor... just what we wanted. The dogs were initially super excited but I fear they may attack us next time we say “walkies”. Big garden, amazing views, nice warm lodge. Perfect for relaxing! Highly recommended.

    Marco2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic base for exploring a wonderful part of South Devon. A well equipped, clean lodge in an extremely peaceful location that is within walking distance of a beautiful section of the South West coast path. Would highly recommend.

  • Marwell Lodge is in a beautiful quiet location in the grounds of the host's property. The lodge is secluded with plenty of outside space ,which is very well maintained and safe. The interior is lovely, spacious, clean with everything you need and lots of extra touches. Perfect for a relaxing holiday. The host was very helpful and welcoming. We stayed with our dog, who was also welcomed and he could move freely in the large garden.

    Alison2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This lodge is in an idyllic location to get away from it all for peace and quiet but is within walking distance to a well stocked shop and two pubs. The lodge itself is comfortable, modern and situated in a secluded setting.

Less than 1 mile from the South West coast path and the famous surfing beach at Bantham, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 'Rockpool' sleeps two (plus 2 on sofa bed) people in one bedroom. Light and airy accommodation with stunning views across the valley of West Buckland. There is off street parking on a shared drive and the apartment opens onto the shared front garden of the main house.
Rockpool is very handy to the beach and you can leave the car and walk. Rockpool was built last July and has a modern bathroom with separate bath and shower. There is also an outside shower for rinsing wetsuits.
West Buckland is a hamlet with easy access to the villages of Thurlestone and Bantham where there are great pubs, shops and coffee houses.

    Rich2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Helen's cabin this weekend which was in an ideal spot to explore Dartmoor and come back to after a day out. The cabin was cosy and clean with a well provisioned kitchen that we were able to cook a decent dinner in, although there were also good local options to eat out at. The location is a minute's drive from the main road but you'd never know as it's enclosed by trees, so you can enjoy the quiet but still be conveniently located to get off to a quick start each day. Helen and her husband gave us a warm welcome and were on hand for any questions and provided us with some great suggestions for the local area, thanks again!

    Tom2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Helen and her husband were very friendly and helpful. The cabin was comfy and cosy. We loved the game boards, specially the rush hour. It was so very nice to be waken by the singing of the birds in the morning.

    Daniel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a stop off on our way back from Cornwall to extend our holiday by a day - we found Helen’s cabin and were not disappointed! In a convenient spot just off the main drag but hidden in a private woodland so you feel a million miles away from civilisation. Helen was kind enough to let us stay even though there are 5 of us - and it wasn’t even a squeeze. We fitted in comfortably with our 3 kids - 2 on the sofa bed and one on a camp bed. Helen was a brilliant host with tips on where to eat (Turtley Corn mill for a lovely pub meal) and where to go crabbing (Dittisham - 114 crabs caught and 3 seals spotted!). The nicest touch was the breakfast spread left for us - makes life so much easier when you’re travelling with ever hungry kids! Thanks Helen - I’m sure we’ll back on our next trip to the South West.

    Katherine2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay at Helen’s cabin which was the perfect place to chill out for a couple of days en route home to Cornwall. We offer accommodation in a large, comfortable double room above our pub in the estuary town of Kingsbridge in South Devon. The room has an en-suite with shower and toilet; TV; tea and coffee making facilities; hairdryer; wardrobe and drawers. The pub downstairs is a traditional pub, with a pool table, piano and charming, courtyard garden. We are based in the heart of the town, close to a variety of fine restaurants and shops, the bus station and the scenic estuary.
There is a private side entrance to the building which is available to guests if they do not want to use the pub entrance. We do not provide any meals, but there are a number of places nearby which offer food throughout the day. It is important to be aware that the room is above the pub and so there is a level of noise which comes from downstairs. There is live music performed by local musicians on a Sunday from 5-7pm. We are situated on a street with award winning restaurants, another pub and take-away outlets. It can therefore be a busy part of town, especially on a Saturday night, so there is some noise outside the pub. Some may enjoy being so central, while others may not, so please keep this in mind.
Kingsbridge is a charming estuary town in the South Hams, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town has a number of interesting independent shops; art galleries; cafes; restaurants; pubs; a cinema and leisure centre with a swimming pool and gym. There is a scenic embankment for those who enjoy a stroll and for the adventurous, the town is an ideal base from which to explore the nearby coastal areas, moor and neighbouring towns.
  • A wonderful stay with an amazing host. Thank you so much. ❤️ There's is a slight bit a noise heard in the room from the downstairs pub, but not enough to disturb your sleep etc. Smack bang in the centre of the town, close to all restaurants and pubs/cafes. The room was spacious, clean and well lit. Lovely touch with the coffee cafetiere, a great start to the mornings. :) Would highly recommend the hermi, and should we be needing a place to stay in kingsbridge again we will defiantly be back.

    Charley2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in Kingsbridge, central, amazing host and excellent communication from Anna, super comfortable room, bed and TV, with ensuite, excellent shower and very nice people, thanks again, see you next visit if you're free to accommodate, Iain

    Iain2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely room hidden away on one of the side streets in Kingsbridge is a gem. It is situated above a “proper” old pub and has one of the comfiest beds 👍. As it is above the pub, you can hear muted music and chat but to be honest I hear more noise from the tv from my neighbours house ! It’s a lovely old building with plenty of restaurants nearby and take any direction to explore many of the nearby towns like Salcome, Totnes or Dartmouth. The hosts are very friendly, they will give advice on places to visit, eat and nothing is too much trouble. We brought back take-always to our room and they provided us with plates and cutlery and having a bar downstairs was very useful 😁. We took two dogs with us and they enjoyed all the attention from the friendly locals too. This is a lovely little bolt hole to escape to and we enjoyed it so much we’ve booked again already. Thankyou for an enjoyable stay x🐶

    Katrina 2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely comfortable stay st Anna's. Well situated in the centre of Kingsbridge, plenty of places to eat literally on your doorstep & nearby shops. Anna was a top host, ensured I was well looked after & provided prompt responses to ajy comms. Definitely recommend a stay if your in the Kingsbridge area.

  • Hermitage Inn was perfect for our weekend break, Anna was really welcoming and the room was exactly as it said on the tin!

    Robyn2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The room was very spacious and clean, and in a perfect location right in the centre of town. Fantastic value for how lovely the room is, thanks Anna, we'll definitely be back!

    Madeleine2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Large spacious rooms, very clean and homely with some nice touches. there is noise from the bar below - you can hear the jukebox if you don't have the Tv on and some noise from the street at times, but this is to be expected due to the age of the building and the fact that the rooms are above the bar area. I can't fault this property for the price though

    Kevin2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • There is a huge, light-filled room above the pub with the most comfortable bed. The power shower has just the right pressure for a delicious hot shower with toiletries provided. This is a pub facility so expect some noise, but even with a live singer performing, it was not obtrusive. Anna and Austen are very strict with closing time so my sleeping hours were never interrupted. Added advantage is of course a freshly drawn pint before bed. Kingsbridge abounds with eating establishments within a 5 minute walk. On-site parking and access is very convenient. There’s loads of wardrobe space too for longer stays.

  • Katherine’s place was perfect for our weekend stay, where we could finish off our coverage of the Devon coastline. Accommodation was clean and tidy with all the amenities needed for a stay away. The local pub, The Dolphin was a great treat and saved us cooking for the first evening. Definitely recommend for a break away, close to the coast, perfectly practical and a joy to stay.

    Ben2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really great place to stay to see the south devon coast. Well equipped kitchen, which you don't always get in airbnbs, eco- conscious host and super cosy house. Would definitely both recommend and go again

A short walk to The Village Inn for tasty dinner and wine so has some great local places to visit. Comfiest beds ever and such thoughtful touches - including bits and bobs for breakfast and coffee. Thank you so much - we will definitely be returning!

  • Upper Deck is just fab! We totally recommend as a base for exploring the South Hams. It’s super close to the Best beaches. Especially South Milton Sands. The accommodation is very private. We were met by a lovely man with some umbrellas as it was absolutely chucking it down! Much appreciated! The bed is so comfortable we didn’t want to get up! The kitchen space is fab. Good size shower and cloakroom. Lots of little personal touches around the room. We will certainly be back! If you are looking for a base to explore the area you can’t go wrong here!

    Jenna2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lou is a lovely host and the upper deck is an extraordinary location to get a break from the routine. The place is comfy, decorated with love and you have everything you could wish for. The surroundings are breath taking, especially when the sun comes out. I highly recommend staying at the upper deck for a while...you will switch your mind off, I can promise that.

    Natalie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I booked a stay at The Upper a Deck as part of a Christmas present for my Mum. Being from Devon ourselves, we were familiar with the Salcombe area - but it was nice to try somewhere more off the beaten track. The room was sparkling clean, spacious, stylish and comfortable. We had everything big we needed for our night away, including little personal touches from Lou. There are three radiators in the annexe, so don’t worry about being cold in the winter - mum and I were very toasty. There were even two hot water bottles, just in case! I’d highly recommend The Upper Deck and hopefully will be back again soon :)

  • A simple room but spotlessly clean with comfortable mattress and I had everything I needed, including a choice of breakfast. Very interesting to see Nette making her beeswax food wraps!

  • I really enjoyed staying here - it was VERY clean, cosy, warm, welcoming and a lovely breakfast too! It's really quiet in Week and only a short walk away from the Dartington Estate which is where I was heading each day. The view from my window was lovely including daffodils and snowdrops, and one evening on my walk home an owl was chatting away! There's a great little garage in Dartington where you can get supplies and Totnes only a short drive away too. I didn't meet Nette but her partner Rob and little dog Jack who were super hosts. Would highly recommend this quiet little retreat for your stay in Devon!

  • I really enjoyed my stay at this completely out of the way haven of peace! Stayed on a wet blustery night but the room was warm, cosy and had a lovely modern bathroom with a lush shower. The main house is extremely old and has loads of character and appears to be part of a farm, I didn't get the chance to meet the hosts but Charlotte communicated extremely quickly to any queries. Would stay again!

This is a warm comfortable 'guest wing' in our family home in the lovely Dartmoor village of South Brent. It is a spacious end of terrace Victorian house; your wing is at the back; it includes a cosy light bedroom (with a super comfy bed) overlooking the garden, a private loo and a private bathroom. The guest wing is quite separate from the front, where we live. You are likely to be woken by birdsong if at all! Breakfast will include organic and homemade bread and local yellow-yolked eggs...
We are a working family who enjoy welcoming people into our home and have a lot of experience of it. Your part of the house (bedroom, bathroom and WC) has a shared entrance but is separated from the rest of the house by a private corridor which is curtained off for privacy. The bed has a comfy semi-firm back care mattress, and there are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The bathroom has a shower and a lovely deep bath to ease away the aches after a long day's walking! South Brent is a lovely village with a thriving community and we would be very happy to help you find your way around or recommend our 'must-sees' including a fantastic range of historic pubs for eating. It is an ideal base for exploring Dartmoor and the beautiful SW coast whether by bike, car or on foot. We have a dog, Eric, who is very friendly. The garden is a great place for a glass of wine in the evening.
South Brent is brilliantly located for access to Dartmoor, Plymouth, Totnes or Exeter, or any of the surrounding towns and villages. The A38 is nearby but not too close! There are lots of beautiful walks in the area which we can advise on - you can easily walk or cycle from the house up on to the moors. We are located on the Plymouth - Exeter cycle route. There are 2 pubs in the village which offer food, also a cafe and a number of shops including a deli and a Coop. It's a great base for day trips to the coast too; the SW coast path around the South Hams is stunning.
  • Such a welcoming home and the room was just what we needed for a comfortable, quick visit in Devon. Flo and her family was absolutely lovely, providing us with many sweet gestures and touches. Thank you!!

  • Such a lovely house in the village and perfect for an overnight stay whilst we were attending a wedding. The family were so helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and they had everything that we could have needed. Thank you so much for having us! I would definitely stay again and recommend staying with them if you are in South Brent.
