Good Mondays Farm is 10 mins off the M4, ideal for visiting the wealth of attractions in the Cotswolds. The Grade II listed cowshed conversion has high beamy ceilings, light spacious rooms with rustic features from the farm in its heyday. The bedrooms have super king/king beds dressed in Egyptian cotton sheets and goose down duvets, all with smart TVs, free wifi, Nespresso machines and a desk. The bathrooms are furnished with a cast iron bath and/or a large monsoon shower with Cowshed cosmetics.
The Cowsheds sleeps 12-18 guests and is comprised of one large house, the former cowsheds, and a 1 bedroom cottage, “The Weekender”, which is literally metres away from the main house. Guests sleeping in The Weekender can share the communal areas in the Cowsheds, whilst also being able to escape to the cottage for a little peace from the rest of the party, if needed! Together, the Cowsheds and The Weekender comprise of 6 bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. All of the bedrooms have a cupboard, desk, smart TV, full length mirror, hairdryer, mini fridge, Nespresso machine and tea-making facilities, and fit a travel cot (if required) and the beds are made up in Egyptian cotton sheets, goose down duvets and pure wool throws. The bathrooms all have a cast iron roll top bath and / or a monsoon shower, along with fluffy white Egyptian cotton towels and Cowsheds cosmetics. More details of each bedroom below... Bedroom 1 (“Monday”) is the largest room (sleeps up to 4 guests - 1 x super king, 2 singles), furnished with Volga linen fabrics, India Jane lamps and, in addition to the above, a sumptuous sofa. This also holds a single sofa bed and a single "bed in a box", both, from all accounts, very comfortable and ideal for a family of 4. The spacious bathroom is equipped with a monsoon shower and a cast iron bath fitted with Lefroy Brooks hand-crafted taps. Bedroom 2 (“Tuesday”) (sleeps up to 3 guests) offers a more contemporary style with a beautiful nickel king sized bed, backed with a panelled wall and warm low level lighting. There is also a single "bed in a box", so a child can also share this room. The adjoining bathroom offers an enormous Lefroy Brooks basin with an extravagant monsoon shower. This bathroom is also furnished with grab rails, so is possibly best suited to any elderly or disabled member of the group. Bedroom 3 (“Wednesday”) (sleeps up to 4 guests) holds a super king bed, a double sofa bed and 2 other comfortable sofas. The room is multi-purpose, either an extremely large and decadent bedroom with an additional seating area, or perhaps better to divide off the sitting room from the bedroom with the thick linen curtain, still allowing plenty of room for a couple in the bedroom and a small party in the sitting room, or deploy the sofa bed and create another bedroom. The room is dressed with Volga linens and lovely Bronte by Moon throws. The en-suite bathroom is entered by ducking under the beam and through the original sliding cowshed door opening up to an indulgent cast iron bath fitted with Lefroy Brooks taps and a monsoon shower. Bedroom 4 (“Thursday”) (sleeps 2 guests) is a little smaller and more traditional, adorned with Chelsea Textiles fabrics, a beautiful Pure wool throw, antique furniture and a king-sized bed. The traditional charm flows into the elegant panelled bathroom which offers a cast iron bath fitted with Lefroy Brooks taps and a large monsoon shower. Bedroom 5 (“Friday”) (sleeps 2 guests) can be used as a twin or super king room. It is situated in the old piggery, again a little smaller than Beds 1-3, but is well-equipped with all the mod-cons and comforts required for a country break. The bathroom has a more eccentric ambiance with the roll top bath decked in old railway sleepers similar to those used in the Piggery of old, and a wonderful copper wash basin. Bedroom 6 (sleeps up to 4 guests) is in “The Weekender”. It is an elegant first floor room with a large king-sized bed. It has a warm rustic feel with beams floating through the eaves, sumptuous fabrics and quirky soft furnishings. The en-suite bathroom is dark and decadent with a large roll top over-looking the rooftops and a walk-in monsoon shower. In addition, the Weekender has a beautiful kitchen with all the modcons you could possibly require, a beautiful sitting room with a double sofa bed, a desk and a large flat-screen. There is also a gravelled outside area adorned with flowers and equipped with a table, 4 chairs and a barbecue. The kitchen diner of the Cowsheds has high beamy ceilings and a glass frontage allowing the sun to stream through, whilst adorned with low level copper lighting and glass pendant lighting to ensure a more subtle vibe in the evenings. The dining area holds 2 farmhouse tables suitable for a total of 20 guests to dine comfortably, with a couple of smaller breakfast tables by the windows and a large smart TV. The kitchen itself is well-equipped with a large range cooker, microwave, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, 2 fridges, mini freezer, bluetooth beatbox, selection of fine bone china, plenty of wine glasses and tumblers, and all the mod cons you could require. We provide a good supply of essentials (including Nespresso capsules) which will be at your disposal. The sitting room (refer to Bed 3) of the Cowsheds is furnished with 3 large comfortable sofas (one of which is a double sofa bed) topped with Volga linen scatter cushions, a coffee table, desk and a large smart TV. There are board games at your disposal and a selection of coffee table books to browse at your leisure. Outside the Cowsheds is a small grassed area front and back, a large teak table and 20 chairs furnished with nickel lanterns, and a BBQ (please bring charcoal). To the exterior of the Cowsheds, we are growing a small orchard and you may well see our sheep and chickens roaming free.
We are close to the Roman cities of both Bath and Cirencester and within easy reach of the pretty Cotswold towns of Tetbury and Malmesbury and in the other direction the Wiltshire market town of Marlborough. Malmesbury: The current Abbey building dates back to the 12th century and is built on a site of worship used from the 7th century and beside it is Abbey House and Gardens, which has featured on many TV programmes. This truly spectacular 5 acre garden in the centre of Medieval Malmesbury and straddling the River Avon has brought praise from around the world. Tetbury: Cotswold market town made rich by the wool trade in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today it is well known for its upmarket shopping – antiques, vintage & interiors, exclusive boutiques & HRH Prince of Wales’ Highgrove shop. Westonbirt: The famous and newly upgraded Arboretum is within half an hour, ideal for entertaining children with a Gruffalo trail and playground. Avebury: Arguably better than the more famous, Stone Henge, and certainly larger and allowing for much closer access. Nearby are also the other pre-historic sites of West Kennet long barrow and Silbury Hill, as well as Avebury Manor and some lovely walks upto and along the Ridgeway – Britain’s oldest road, with breath-taking views. Lacock: owned by the National Trust, Lacock includes the famous Abbey and Fox Talbot museum. Castle Combe: referred to as the prettiest village in England and understandably has featured in many films including War Horse and just up the hill is the famous racing circuit of the same name Horses: If pedigrees rather than petrol are more your thing, then check what's on at Bath and Cheltenham race courses, which host events all year round including the famous Cheltenham Festival in March. In May the world’s premier 3 day event, Badminton Horse Trials, is held within 30 mins of the Cowsheds. Houses & Estates: The stately homes of Bowood, Dryham Park and Chavenage are all under 30 mins away and Longleat is under an hour. Bowood and Longleat make for wonderful family days out with Longleat's famous safari park and maze and Bowood's adventure playground and 18 hole golf course. HRH Prince of Wales’ unique garden at Highgrove is well worth a visit (booking required well in advance).

  • Lovely property, very stylish and welcoming. Plenty to do in the surrounding area.

    Jo2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous stay. Only improvement would be a larger living space (sofas) to accommodate a big group, as sitting around the kitchen table for long periods can get a little uncomfortable.

  • We had an amazing stay at The Cowshed. It had plenty of space for a large group, and it was all beautifully decorated. Every room had an ensuite. And the welcome cake went down a treat. I wish we stayed longer. Thanks Georgina for being a fantastic host- we would definitely recommend.

Handcrafted & thermally insulated shepherds hut with double bed, can be used all year around with wood burning stove to keep you warm & cosy during the winter months. It is wonderfully romantic. Come & relax, enjoy the peace, see the stunning sunsets, watch the deer across the field next to your 'own' secluded wooded space. It's a rustic experience.. the loo is no more than 200 yards away, & a bowl and pitcher is provided for a wash! Water heated by either the kettle provided or the log burner.
There are electricity sockets for phone charging. WiFi is not available but can be accessed in the vicinity of the yard/office. Water is in a 15 litre container, refillable a short walk away. Tea and coffee provided & a full English breakfast will be brought to you in the morning! If the weather is inclement, there are two folding chairs & a table at which to enjoy your breakfast, inside the hut. Please remember, we run a timber yard from our premises, making bespoke timber buildings, and therefore it is at its most peaceful here on a Saturday evening / Sunday! There is limited hot water in the loo but there is no provision for a shower and therefore 2 nights max suggested for everyone's benefit!...all part of the 'experience'!
There are some super walks in and around Tockenham, a peaceful village with a church and village bar on a Saturday evening.
  • This hut exceeded all expectations! We visited on a very windy weekend but this did not affect our trip at all as we were cosy and warm with the log burner burning! The hut was sparkling clean and had lovely little touches which made it so welcoming. The location is perfect for a relaxing stay and the added bonus was the incredible full English breakfast we had brought to us both mornings! The toilet is not a long walk at all from the hut and I 100% would recommend this place to anyone looking to access the countryside or Bath/ Bristol!

    Helen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Another wonderful stay ! Would highly recommend for any couple looking to get away!

  • We had a great stay here. Thanks to both Michelle and Roland were great hosts, and very quick to respond to us. They lit the fire before we got there so the Hut was nice and warm for our arrival which was a nice touch. Lovely breakfast too. I will happily recommend this place to friends and family - Thanks again!

  • If you want to have a night away from the outside world this is the place for it ! Lush log burner, beautiful views and cosy surroundings. The hut was so clean and very comfortable even in the middle of November. Breakfast next day was absolutely delicious and brought to you in the hut. Highly recommend and will be returning !

    Scott2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle’s was a good host with very quick responses and communicated with us great up to and during our stay. The hut was very warm and cosy once the fire kicked in, and the breakfast was delicious too. Plenty of basic comforts such as plug sockets, tea/coffee and towels were available during our stay too.

    Harry2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We just needed somewhere to stay after attending a local wedding but this place surpassed my expectations. Beautiful, comfortable and lots of thoughtful touches. The fire was lit for our return, breakfast was perfection and they were even kind enough to drop my husband back to our car up the road! Couldn’t recommend more highly!

  • Charles is a great, friendly and welcoming host with good knowledge of the surrounding areas. The accommodation was exactly as described and even exceeded expectations. Would highly recommend.

    Ian2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hosts who are very generous and accommodating. We stayed for 2 months and they were always trying to make our stay as stress-free as possible. The area is well located with great travel links despite feeling very peaceful. Charles is full of tips for the local area, oh and the dogs are very friendly!

    Abby2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Stylish & comfortable barn conversion within reach of all the Cotswold villages. The barn is in peaceful surroundings so won’t be disturbed at all.. Your very helpful hosts will be very happy to help out with any questions at any point.

    Melvin2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little space, very cosy and perfect for a trip for two! Charles is a brilliant host and the barn is in a great condition. Highly recommended!

    Marianne2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed for a month whilst in the area for business, and found a welcoming and relaxed environment with all the facilities needed to be comfortable staying 'home'. Charles was on hand if needed to answer questions about the area and give tips - but after a long day, the perfect way to spend the evening was with a home cooked meal, a log fire and a good internet connection! Charles and Ali were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble.

    Judith2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real hidden gem and the perfect base to explore the wonderful Cotswolds. Charles is a very friendly host and has good knowledge of the area. The converted barn was perfect for me and my husband and our small dog. It is finished very nicely and was well equipped for our stay. The kitchen area was open plan with a small table and 2 chairs. Leading down stairs to an amazing wet room with heated floor. Then into a very spacious bedroom with wonderful views, we saw Deer every morning. The only slight downside was the radiator had been broken by a previous guest. We were provided with a small oil radiator which was ok but probably wouldn’t be enough during colder nights. The cosy lounge had a log burner which throws out lots of heat. The furniture could do with updating as we felt it let down the rest of the cottage. Overall we had a very nice, relaxing break and would definitely recommend this lovely place.

    Debbie2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this at very short notice and were very pleased overall with our stay. Charles was quick to reply and despite us arriving late due to travel, came and met us at the door and showed us around the cottage aswell as giving us tips for visiting local area. As we arrived in the dark it was slightly difficult to find but we followed the directions charles had sent and found our way fairly quickly. Cottage was warm and cosy with the added benefit of a fireplace for the evenings, the heated floor in the bathroom was particularly appreciated! It was in a lovely location with plenty of nearby walks which were great especially with the dog. Would have happily stayed for a few more days!

    Grace2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely comfortable and beautifully converted barn in a perfect location for exploring the cotswolds and Wiltshire. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay. Would recommend to all. Thanks again.

  • Christine is a wonderful host. it is a comfortable home and Christine is really easy to get along with.

    Hannah2018-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Christine is a very considerate host. I have enjoyed staying in her home. It is comfortable to be able to do your own thing and also to be able to sit in the living room and chat with Christine.

    Hannah2018-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's place is a first-class, well-appointed, spotlessly-clean, accommodation in a quaint area near Swindon. Her home was setup with all the amenities to make the stay comfortable. I especially enjoyed the Apple TV and all the movies she has available to watch. Her bathroom has a nice shower upgrade to make the water hot and pressure relaxing. In the morning she had hot coffee ready and tea. The WiFi was strong and I was able to get lots of work done while I was visiting. I was amazed on how beautiful her two Persian cats are that are in the house, and her sweet dog Coco is well trained and friendly. Shopping and restaurants are nearby. We especially enjoyed the Mallard Pub. Would gladly stay again.

  • This was our second stay at Veronica's and we would love to keep coming back. The apartment is great with everything you need plus nice thoughtful touches. It's so peaceful and we enjoyed the cycling around the lovely local area. Our favourite airBnB so far!

  • We had a lovely stay at Veronica’s studio. She was incredibly helpful with tips on where to go and what to do in the Cotswolds. The studio was perfect for chilling out in the evenings on a recliner sofa in front of the telly, and it was great to have a kitchen to cook our own food and save some money. The shower was great and we had a really comfy bed to sleep in too. Veronica also kindly left us biscuits, coffee and milk. Thank you for a wonderful stay Veronica! All the best, from Sophie and Sam

  • Had a great time staying at Veronica’s! We were hit by storm Dennis during our stay but were able to feel safe and warm inside our lovely little apartment. Malmesbury is just up the road and has some lovely places to eat and drink

  • We had a lovely weekend at Veronica's studio. The studio is well equipped, warm and very clean, we had a very comfortable stay overall. It would have been tricky to find the location, but thanks to Veronica's excellent directions we were able to find it without any problems. Highly recommended!

  • We would highly recommend this property. Veronica is such a great host. The property is flawless and perfectly located for exploring the surrounding area. You will need a car to stay here, but a HUGE plus is the safe parking, no need to worry about anything. Here you really feel away from things, it is so quiet. Can't speak highly enough of it!

Royal Wootton Bassett is such a lovely quaint town yet very close to the M4 with some love pubs and restaurants close by. The house is easy accessible and the room being at the top of the house is like having your very own space. It was immaculately clean and very well equipped ( Alexa woke me up) There was a lovely continental style breakfast on offer and a very powerful shower after a fantastic night’s sleep. I will definitely stay again and I would highly recommend Kevin’s place.

  • We loved spending time here. It was peaceful and relaxing and it had everything we needed to make some food and lots of cups of tea. The views were beautiful. The fire was amazing and we eventually got it going haha bit rusty at first but we got the hang of it and it made the place very cosy. The rugs and hot water bottles were great and very much needed as it was so chilly. Being out in nature was wonderful. This is exactly what we needed. We will definitely recommend this cute cabin. Thank you for hosting us.

  • Samantha has been an A star host, the property was sparkling clean with fully equiped. Samantha has left plenty of little extra's to ensure you have an easy stay. Check in was easy and communication always fast :-)

    Kim2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication from Samantha right from the start, & she even messaged us on arrival day to say the property was ready so we could access it early which was really useful. Fabulously clean, bright & quiet accommodation. Very smart, comfortable place with loads of storage space & everything we needed for our stay. There was even bread, butter, eggs & milk left for us, as well as a selection of condiments & other household essentials like loo roll, soap & cleaning items. Would most definitely stay again if in the area & highly recommend.

  • Samanthas place is idyllic, this beautiful new build feels like a country cottage on the outside and inside is pristine with every amenity you could wish for. She even left us some milk and bread for the morning! Amazing communication and little helpful tips made the stay even more cosy and thoughtful. We even looked checked where the bedsheets were from as they were the comfiest I’ve ever slept in. Even after our stay we left something behind and Samatha went above and beyond to help us retrieve it. Honestly a 5* listing.

YES, we are OPEN during the Covid19 crisis. A great place to self isolate in the countryside. ‘Work from home’ or get away from it all in an idyllic environment. Lavender Lodge is a self contained log cabin built in 2019. With panoramic views to the front and side overlooking the orchard. With a full kitchen and it's own patio and firepit/BBQ, you can relax and unwind inside or go al fresco.
The cabin has a king size sofa bed that is a comfortable bed by night and a relaxing leather sofa by day. There are also 2 tub chairs, a drop leaf table and 4 chairs. A carry cot and high chair may be available- please enquire at time of booking. The cabin features stylish 'steampunk' lighting. There is WiFi and satellite Freesat TV. The cabin comes with a full kitchen including oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, sink and instant boiling water. There are plates, cups and mugs and utensils. There is also a fire alarm, fire extinguisher and fireblanket for your safety. Outside on your private patio area, there is a 4 person table and chairs with your a firepit/BBQ for long lazy evening meal overlooking the orchard. In the front garden, you can walk the stone labyrinth as a creative or spiritual meditation. The cabin has a wheel-chair accesible ramp from the parking to the door with level access throughout and on to the patio. The brand new en-suite disabled friendly toilet/wet room includes comfort level toilet, low level sink and electric shower. There are fixed grab bars for the toilet and shower. Adjacent to Lavender Lodge is a WC and shower which is used by glampers in the lower orchard. The access ramp is common to you and our glamping guests. Don't worry, you have your own en-suite toilet/ wet room for your exclusive use. Feel free to wander about the lower orchard. There is some seating dotted about the orchard, and a little stream at the bottom. Sometimes there are resident sheep - they will generally keep away from you! Warning: if the electric fence is in place. Keep your distance. There are also bees in the opposite side of the orchard, and we ask you not to disturb them - they are busy making honey. Our host dog will be delighted to welcome you. She will happily play ball for hours! The chickens and ducks, turkeys and guinea fowl love to have visitors! You can use the bag of corn in your welcome pack - but please do not try to pick them up! We hope you enjoy the eggs they have laid for you.
This ancient land is a delight for history buffs: Stanton St. Quintin featured in the Domesday Book of 1086, and it has been home to human settlements long before that in the Neolithic period, with some medieval earthworks still surviving in and around the parish today. Chippenham is a convenient 5 miles away, with its links to London and Bristol, and Malmesbury, the ‘gateway to the Cotswolds’, is just 5 miles to the north.

  • Lavender lodge is homely and cozy. Such great hosts who are very welcoming and kind. You can definitely tell they take pride in making their home your home. Absolutely loved all the little touches in the lodge- the freshly made apple juice was delicious. Great walks around the area, very peaceful and calming as well. If you're travelling by car you can pop into Bath, which is only about 30 minutes so you can have a great little day out. Highly recommend Lavender Lodge for a peaceful weekend away and wish that we got to stay a little longer:)

  • We will definitely come back with the family during summer. It was the best way to spend the last days of the year. Very good energy for 2020! :) The lodge is much more beautiful and cozy in real life, everything is very clean, Elspeth and Gil are the most friendly couple ever, they even prepared a christmas tree, eggs from their chicken, homemade jelly... The lodge is well located, we were close to all of the villages we wanted to visit. Well, 5 stars :)

The Leat is a gorgeous, 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 3-story riverside hideaway in a 19th Century water mill at the heart of historic Malmesbury. This bright and spacious hideaway has a family bathroom with bath and shower, private parking for two cars and welcomes one well-behaved dog*.
*Dogs: 1 well-behaved dog is welcome at the cottage at an additional cost of £30. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation. Introduction The Leat is a peaceful riverside hideaway within walking distance of the charming and historic market town of Malmesbury, which dates back to the Iron Age. History lovers will enjoy visiting the hometown of King Athelstan, first king of all England (924-927), and the 12th Century abbey as well as England’s oldest hotel – Abbey House Gardens. In the 19th century Wynyard Mill on the edge of the popular Cotswold town of Malmesbury, The Leat is a unique waterside retreat for up to four guests, boasting enviable views across the rooftops of England’s oldest borough. Split over three floors, The Leat offers simple, elegant living for those in search of some R&R, benefitting from the rare bonus of a town centre location without the hustle and bustle. Cosy in size but well-equipped for up to four guests, the cottage homes two generous bedrooms on its two lower floors, alongside a handy en-suite shower room in its master and an additional family bathroom. The top floor is where the property really comes to life thanks to its bright, spacious open-plan layout, where a small but perfectly formed kitchen leads into an attractive living area, flooded with natural light thanks to a series of skylights in the eaves. The real gem of the property is the small balcony leading from the living area; a private al fresco nook is complete with outdoor bistro set, where you can happily while away the hours soaking up the sunshine with a cup of coffee, relax with a good book or simply sit and enjoy the views to the gentle soundtrack of the River Avon flowing beneath. FULL PROPERTY DESCRIPTION Ground Floor Entrance Hall Guests enter The Leat through a hallway at the street level where there is room to hang coats. Head up a short flight of steps to: Bedroom One The first room you come to as you ascend the staircase when entering the cottage is the master bedroom; a snug double perfect for couples, with a 6ft zip and link bed that can be made into twin beds should you need. Making good use of the cottage’s staggered layout, an attractive country-cream décor is brought to life by contemporary pops of blue alongside artwork of Malmesbury through the ages, evoking a sense of the cottage’s rich history as the town’s historic water mill. A small en-suite shower room with hand basin and toilet offers guests a good amount of privacy, plus there’s a full-height wardrobe for convenient storage. Following on up the staircase from Bedroom 1 to: First Floor Bedroom Two The cottage’s second bedroom is a spacious twin room that can be converted to a 6ft bed should you prefer. Bursting with light thanks to a bright bay window that overlooks the river below, here the cottage’s heritage shines through the exposed ceiling beams, with vibrant red fabrics giving an elegant pop of colour to the classic country colour palette. There’s a spacious double wardrobe and handy additional chest of drawers, plus a large bay window; the perfect spot to watch the river as it flows beneath. Head up the stairs to The Leat’s main living space: Second Floor The Kitchen/Dining/Living Area Found up the winding staircase on the cottage’s top floor is the open-plan living, kitchen and dining area; a light, bright space with views from every angle, offering a cosy spot to whip up a feast and put your feet up after a busy day exploring the winding honey-stoned streets of Malmesbury. A compact but well-equipped kitchen area greets you as you enter the space, with wooden worktops, slate flooring and country-cream units complementing the cottage’s heritage expertly. Perfectly kitted out with all you’ll need for a self-catered stay, there’s an electric hob/oven, microwave, small extendable dining table and plenty of cookware and crockery to make use of, plus a washing machine and freezer tucked out of sight in a small utility room at the top of the stairs. Leading on from the kitchen is the spacious living area, brightly lit by skylights and windows from every angle which flood the space with natural light. Attractive leather seating gives the living space a cool, contemporary feel, whilst exposed beams and country cream hues evoke a feeling of countrified elegance. Here, you can sit back and relax together (views into the kitchen mean that the cook of the group never has to feel isolated from the rest), or unwind in front of the TV, with plenty of DVDs to choose from. A set of small French doors at the far end of the room open up onto a pretty balcony area complete with outdoor dining set; the perfect place to enjoy the views of the river below, tuck into an al fresco feast or watch a traditional game of bowls, courtesy of Malmesbury Bowls Club next door. Family Bathroom An attractive white-tiled family bathroom, at the stairs end of the living area, features a bath and full-height shower, toilet and basin, flooded with light thanks to a bright Velux window. Outside The Leat is the ideal middle-ground for those looking for a peaceful escape with town on the doorstep, with everything you could need within walking distance. Forming the upper floors of the old Wynyard Mill, the River Avon lies at the very heart of the property (flowing directly underneath), framing the property’s frontage with beautiful riverside views. Although the cottage doesn’t have a garden, the upper floor’s balcony offers a welcome outdoor space where you can relax and enjoy the fantastic sights and sounds of the river flowing beneath. Malmesbury’s town centre is just a (very) short stroll over a traditional stone bridge from the cottage’s front door, as are numerous walks along public footpaths through the countryside that surrounds the town’s outer boundaries. A real benefit in this busy market town are the two parking spaces which come with the property, found on the driveway at the end of the Mill building.
Local amenities Although a car is beneficial for guests wanting to explore the wider Cotswolds area, The Leat’s location makes it perfect for those who’d prefer to leave the car at home during their stay. As well as a wide choice of shops, there is a regular farmers' market - held at the historic Market Cross every Friday from 9am to 3pm - a library, museum and leisure centre with pool. Food stores Malmesbury is well-equipped with a plethora of independent stores, eateries and supermarkets, making catering for your stay at The Leat a breeze. For a special treat in the morning, head to Hobbs House Bakery (5-minute walk) for a fresh loaf, pastry or piping hot coffee, before heading to Thomas of Malmesbury butchers (10-minute walk) for your fresh picks of the finest meat from across the region. Health food lovers should also pop their heads into The Wild Food Company on the High Street, where a host of healthy, organic and vegetarian goodies can be found. For those who prefer to buy all their groceries in one place, Malmesbury town centre is home to a Co-Operative Food and Premier Express, whilst a larger Waitrose store sits just on the outskirts of the town; a 2-minute drive or 5-minute walk from the cottage. For a relaxed bite to eat or celebratory drink or two, head to The Smoking Dog – an honest pub with great grub owned by Butcombe Brewery, just a 5-minute walk from the cottage on Malmesbury’s High Street – or the Rose and Crown; a stylish country inn and locals’ favourite, just outside of Malmesbury’s centre in the pretty village of Lea (5-minute drive). For daytime bites, the famed Hobbs House Bakery (5-minute walk) offers a fantastic daily selection of fresh sandwiches, sweet treats and coffee, whilst The Summer Café (5-minute walk) boasts a brilliant breakfast menu as well as quiches, salads and sandwiches for lunch; topped off brilliantly with a giant slice of freshly-baked cake. Come the evening, there’s plenty to choose from to whet your appetite in the town centre and slightly further afield. Connoisseurs of Italian cuisine won’t be disappointed by La Campagna or The Birdcage (both a 5-minute walk), a traditional Italian eatery famed for its pizzas, named in homage to Malmesbury’s winding streets. Or try The Old Bell Hotel, England’s oldest hotel, which offers a great Modern British menu. Slightly further afield, those in search of a memorable feast need look no further than The Dining Room at Whatley Manor, just a 10-minute drive from the cottage, where Michelin-starred dining courtesy of celebrated chef Niall Keating comes to life in an exceptional setting. Slightly more affordable, but just as impressive, is The Rectory Hotel in nearby Crudwell (10-minute drive), serving up traditional dishes with a modern twist in the boutique hotel’s elegant dining room, whilst sister pub The Potting Shed over the road offers a more relaxed alternative for foodies with a real country-pub vibe.

Private room with courtyard garden. We live in the main house and the annex is a completely separate building located across the garden. Mini kitchen, shower and toilet are located in a different building across from the annex . Guests can come and go freely. Parking on site. WiFi is available, although it operates via an extender so connection inside the room is not always guaranteed. We're in a peaceful village, well located for visiting Bath, Bristol, Castle Combe, Lacock & The Cotswolds.
The garden annex is a small private room within the garden of an 18th century cottage. Guests will enjoy having their own space to come and go freely. The kitchenette and bathroom (in a DIFFERENT BUILDING, across the garden) are accessible without coming into the main house and are for the sole use of our guests.
Safe, friendly, peaceful village, surrounded by beautiful countryside. There is a small convenience store, a 13th century church and frequent community events throughout the year. You are only minutes away from exploring the local countryside either by bike or a local network of footpaths (map available). Visit the Cycle Routes web site for some great cycling inspiration. We are happy to plan and escort guests on walking or cycling day trips (using either your own bicycle or one of ours). This would be an extra cost, but let us know if you want more information.
  • We had a lovely stay at Woodbine Cottage. The annex is cosy and comfortable in a very pretty garden and the hosts both charming and helpful. We received great advice on places to eat and top spots to visit which made our visit even more enjoyable.

  • Good place to enjoy the local staycation! The place has a nice garden and 2 firendly and cute cats. I stayed with my wife and daughter and we enjoyed the stay.

  • Sue and her husband were excellent hosts. They were very warm and welcoming throughout and provided a good place to stay.

    Rebecca2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely annexe as described. beautiful location and lots to do in the area. Sue was a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome. There are many little touches around the place that added that homely feel. The bathroom is across the garden from the annexe, we were a little shy at first crossing the lawn in our pj's but it was absolutely fine . Will definitely stay again.

    Cher2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • And really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. Susan is very nice and gives good tips. The location is very quiet and cozy.

    Luis2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's place is a small but cosy room in an outhouse at the bottom of the garden. The bathroom and kitchen are located in a separate building however this should not put you off- it is just a short walk through the garden! The bedroom and bathroom/kitchen are for your sole use, and were spotlessly clean. Sue really has thought of everything including great tips for local walks and trips for both the local and wider area. With Sue's recommendation we visited Castle Combe and a local pub for dinner and both were fantastic. Sue and Mick were great hosts, and we look forward to visiting the area again in the future.

    Hannah2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cozy cottage outhouse located in an English country garden. Beautifully kept (super clean, tidy, fruit in a bowl, today's paper, fresh local eggs and a reasonably priced mini bar, local tourist information). Susan is a wonderful host, friendly and willing to help. She even booked us a table at a pub nearby. We only stayed a night but it has been a wonderful experience.
