  • In a quiet, woodsy location, Nat's place is outstanding. Very large living space to spread out in, comfortable bathroom with huge shower. A great getaway for those in NYC, and for visitors like us, conveniently close to Croton-Harmon station, which is a little over 40 minutes from Grand Cental. Nat herself is cordial and welcoming. Highly recommended.

  • Beautiful, clean, spacious and cozy. Nat was a wonderful hostess and answered all my questions even late at night. It was home away from home. The bed was luxurious and we woke feeling refreshed. The location of the studio was in a quiet area which we loved. I would definitely stay there again.

    Lyla2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Nat's place was great, very spacious and clean. The bed was really comfortable and the unit was very quiet in a residential neighborhood. The unit is around the back of the house, you need to watch your step as you walk on the grass but there is lighting when it gets dark out. Nat was very quick to respond and we enjoyed our stay very much! We hope to get back there soon.......

    Grace2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable and quite. We had a great 5 night stay :)

  • We had a fantastic time at Carrie's carriage home! It was beautifully appointed, with lots of thoughtful touches to make it feel even more homey. We really enjoyed relaxing in front of the fireplace while the snow fell outside. Carrie was very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. We look forward to coming back!

    Evan2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this property is outstanding. This well-maintained cottage is nestled in a private, wooden paradise on a quiet residential road. Very clean and fully equipped with fireplace, full kitchen, linens and more! Huge living area with fireplace, dining room for six, and windows throughout. The owner(s) are very responsive and take very good care of their property. We look forward to returning.

    Janine2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of our favorite stays so far! Beginning with the beautiful backdrop to the thoughtful touches inside the home, this place was poetic. The decor and amenities made us extremely relaxed. Wish we could’ve stayed longer. Would recommend to anyone looking for a rejuvenating getaway.

Very comfortable and well appointed private home with easy access to NYC by train, walking distance from the Croton dam and 15 miles from West Point.
  • Amazing host! House is beautifully decorated and kitchen is well equipped. Some cats definitely lived full time in this house though, just a warning for people with allergies.

  • Great location, great space! We had an absolutely wonderful time in this cottage!

    Oleg2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a sweet place - I was there for Xmas and Paul even provided a beautiful Xmas tree! I can only imagine how delightful that spot must be during the nicer seasons - the views are gorgeous! And the amenities and cleanliness were all just right! It felt very homey and comfortable (great mattresses, too!)

    Melinda2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in a great location. Worked out really well for us spending our Thanksgiving Holiday there this year. Outstanding kitchen.

    Marielle2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's house is so gorgeous and we were so lucky to see it in autumn as the surrounding area is beautiful. The beds were amazing as well. I'd definitely recommend anyone to stay here.

    Gillian2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was a great host, and the space was welcoming and refreshing for our weekend out of the city. Dog friendly, beautiful backdrop and helpful to work with Paul throughout the entire process from reservation to arrival. We hope to come back!!

    Kathryn2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Loved Paul's place. Very convenient to the Croton Harmon train station and Westchester County Airport. My husband does not enjoy staying away from home and he even commented that he would love staying in Paul's place again. Air conditioning units worked great and it looks as though heating would not be a problem in winter with a fireplace and a wood stove both downstairs. Our cadets conveniently hopped the train to go to the city and back to West Point.

    Connie2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not do this place justice. Paul has updated the bathroom and the kitchen but maintained the charm of the cottage. We loved it! The window units worked great and we used the little area behind the kitchen as a third bedroom for our baby twins. The checkin and checkout times were so convenient and lockbox highly appreciated. Our pups loved the yard. I highly recommend.

    Justin2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved it! Superb stay! Michael is extremely easy going, humorous, responsive and kind. The view from the apartment and the surrounding area are gorgeous: trees, meadow and a brook, what more can you ask for. Very calming and soothing if you need a getaway from NYC. Recommend taking walks around stunning Ossining - the hidden gem of Hudson historic towns. Apartment offers everything one might require and the bed is very comfortable. Will definitely return.

    Sasha2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Michael is exceptionally hospitable and I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

    Gianni2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fine place to stay. Very clean, exactly where I needed to be in Ossining. Mike, the host is very friendly and accommodating and a good conversation can be had with him; it is a very interesting to chat with him about his varied interests! There is great privacy in the apartment. Nobody to bother you. Nice TV and the bed was very comfortable (even for me after back surgery). I definitely can highly recommend this Air BnB to anyone needing a nice clean, moderately sized get-away for business or pleasure in this nice town.

Peaceful, tranquil, relaxing! Circa 1885 cottage recently renovated. Vintage fixtures and furnishings. working fireplace. Views of surrounding landscape, gardens. 200 acres of protected land surround the estate. The main farmhouse is available to book separately and .2 miles away - yet not visible from The Cottage. Hike the Historic Aqueduct Trail to the scenic and stunning Croton Dam. Enjoy nature!
Lakewood Estate cleaning team disinfects surfaces often, especially between stays. We pay extra attention to areas that are touched regularly, such as doorknobs, drawer pulls, the toilet flush lever, faucet handles, remote controls, and light switches. We let your cleaning solution stand and wait 3-5 minutes before wiping a sprayed surface to give it time to really disinfect. We wash towels and linens regularly. And provide separate hand towels for each bedroom. For longer-stay guests, Lakewood Estate staff washes linens and towels every couple of days or provide our guests with fresh sets of towels. We want to help guests prevent germs from spreading. We stock the farmhouse with plenty of tissue, disposable paper towels, hand soap, and hand sanitizer. The cottage is 2 miles from Metro North Croton Harmon station. Hike to Croton Dam on Historic Aqueduct Trail. Cottage has internet but no television. A car is strongly recommended or plan to use uber or cabs to get around to local restaurants and grocery stores.
Neighborhood is private and remote. Uber and taxi access only 4 miles into Croton on Hudson Village and train to NYC. Hikeable to Historic Aquaduct trail. Mountain biking trails. Cider Mill. Farms.
  • We loved our stay at this cozy cottage. The cottage was so homey and charming. Greta was super responsive and very thoughtful in her communication. The location is close to town and some beautiful parks.

    Sheree2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem of a cabin! We had an amazing weekend here. The cabin is so cozy, beautiful and the property is stunning. Not to mention the bed is the most comfortable. Greta is so thoughtful and made a birthday sign for my friend. Just amazing! We hope to be back again soon.

    Anna2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Greta was wonderful! All the local tips and always super communicative. The kitchen is very limited, but we managed to make some breakfast each morning and mostly food out otherwise. The location is great - remote enough to feel removed but close enough to nature walk/ hiking spots that you don’t really need a car. Perfect for a weekend getaway from the city.

    Andrea2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay and hope to return! The cottage was perfect for a winter weekend getaway from the city.

    Ben2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Greta is an amazing host. She was very accommodating to our needs and responded very quickly to any issues we had. The estate is an absolutely beautiful, serene place.

    Theresa2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was so cute! When we arrived there were fresh roses and herbs!!! Cute little touches, that were unexpected and there was also firewood to get our first fire started! The bed was comfy and the fire was outstanding! I would recommend and come again. Snow warning; We got stuck coming up the mountain in the snow due to not having 4 wheel drive. We had to go down and find an alternative route. Just an advisory if you don’t have 4 wheel drive. Please note this is only during snow any other time we tried to get to the place it was super easy! So only a warning during winter if you don’t have 4 wheel drive others with 4 wheel drive had no issue. Loved our stay, highly recommended!

    Emily2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The most beautiful and relaxing place you will ever stay! Greta is not only an incredible host but you can tell she genuinely loves what she does and loves making your stay special and unforgettable! The cottage is so romantic. The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful! Walk, hike, fish, read on the porch or in the nook, enjoy a night by the fire both inside and outside. Whatever you do at Greta’s place you will leave your busy world behind and reconnect with yourself, the one you love, and with nature. We will definitely book again and again!

    Tamara2020-01-15T00:00:00Z

This guest quarters is a private basement apartment in the basement of a former 100+ year-old church. The church was converted into an amazing home recently. The basement has been setup for our guests/family to feel at home.
This spacious basement apartment is more than 800 sqft, furnished to make you feel at home. There is a sofa bed in the living room, queen bed, and pack and play for your infant in the bedroom. We are located near the Hudson River and Rockefeller State Park which are great for walks with beautiful scenery. We are also walking distance to Ossining High School, Rt 9, and all the shops. We have easy access to the high school track and field and many other public spaces! It's easy to get to any part of Westchester, Rockland, Connecticut and New Jersey from here. It's a great alternative to the hotels in the area.
Ossining is considered a "River Town". There are a lot of great shops and restaurants in Ossining and the surrounding towns. During the summer there is a splash park and small beach open to the public as well as basketball and tennis courts all within a few minutes from the apartment. The town itself is very peaceful and the people are very friendly.

    Victoria2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second stay at Harsh’s place. As with our first stay, everything was great. He responds quickly to any messages we send and is always available to answer questions. This is a comfortable and convenient location. Harsh is a great host.

  • Cozy basement apartment in very convenient and centrally located Ossining neighborhood. Though there is no stove in kitchen, there are hot plate, microwave, full fridge/freezer, electric kettle, mini blender, plenty of utensils, plates, bowls, cups, glasses, and pots/pans for those who want to eat/reheat food in the apartment. We used the fan for white noise. If you are a light sleeper, I recommend earplugs so the upstairs sounds don’t disturb your rest. I’m a very light sleeper and didn’t notice anything when the fan was on high setting. Extremely comfortable bed, lots of lighting options, strong WiFi signal, and extremely professional and responsible host.

  • This apartment is as great as the pictures. The host was very attentive and even followed up regarding an item left. It was sparkling clean and well decorated. The location is great to anything in Ossining and also close to the train that goes to NYC. I stayed there while visiting friends at Maryknoll NY and look forward to doing the same trip and staying here in a year or so.

We loved snuggling by the fire and had everything we needed for a cozy long weekend. Rory is super responsive and very helpful. We definitely recommend this home for a winter retreat.

  • We stayed at Rory's place as a mini-vacation and to get a respite from the city. The house has beautiful large windows and sits in the woods. Every morning, I drank my morning coffee in the heated solarium and experienced nature, peace and quiet. The house is as described (although larger than expected), comfy, and clean. My boys enjoyed the back yard and we went hiking at Teatown. We will definitely be back!

My house is in the Sunset Park area of Croton-on-Hudson. It is a quiet and safe neighborhood within walking distance of the train station and local stores and restaurants. Croton-on-Hudson is a small town in northern westchester county on the shores of the Hudson River. It is about an hour North of New York City. The croton river runs through it and the Silver Lake beach offers recreation. Other recreation sites include the Croton Point Park, Croton Dam and Senasqua Park. Croton Point Park hosts Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival, a yearly folk music, art and environmental festival. Croton-on-Hudson has been the home of the annual Harry Chapin Run Against Hunger in October since 2005. Also, every October people flock to see the Pumpkin blaze held at Van Cortlandt Manor consisting of thousands of pumpkins carved by a creative team. The village has one of the few "dummy lights" in the United States. Within walking distance from the house, in the village, are numerous locally owned eateries and stores.

    Andrew2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a few days at Karen’s place as we were in town for a show at the Caramoor. So glad we picked her place. The location is perfect, so close to tons of things to do and directions to go. Everything about the place is as described. As others have mentioned the kitchen is well stocked with decent cooking utensils/pots/pans and glassware. Also plenty of pantry staples too (spices, cooking oil, etc). Although we were a little short on pepper! LOL.... ;-) Karen is super responsive with questions before booking and during our stay. The decor is unique and the entire place is cozy. I missed the fact there was no TV when I booked it, but it was nice not having it. Internet was speedy so streaming was not an issue. The only thing I could possibly nit-pick on is the heating system is a bit loud when it runs. If you are a light sleeper, it could be an issue. Was not really a problem for us....it woke me up a few times but our days were packed with fun so it was easy to drift back off. Especially since the bed was SO DARN comfy! Thanks Karen for offering this place to us travelers who prefer more homey accommodations! When we come back to the Hudson Valley we will hope to book you again! Many thanks!!

ESCAPE CROWDED NYC! Just 45 min. North of the city in the Lower Hudson Valley, this cozy waterfront home on the Hudson is the perfect getaway. Enjoy peace + quiet and plenty of privacy. Relax on the deck + enjoy the view w/ a good book, a glass of wine or a cup of joe. If you love nature, you can bike, kayak or hike + then soak in the hot tub while taking in the amazing setting (bikes + kayaks are provided). You know you deserve a break! Treat yourself to some space + time to recharge yourself.
This house is very special. It's the gorgeous riverfront, but also the treehouse effect you get on the decks. It's the art that is everywhere- inside + out. And the abundant house plants. As one guest concisely put it, "This place has great energy." We think so too + we're sure you will love it! The house is in a secluded neighborhood of just a few dozen houses on the banks of the Hudson River. It's nestled between the old stone quarry and Haverstraw Beach State Park. It is a truly unique location. Many locals don’t even know about it!
Dutchtown is a little hamlet. The river, a few houses and the park. Two miles away is the village of Haverstraw for restaurants, groceries, post office, library, etc.
  • We really enjoyed our brief time at Steph & James' home. Their home was clean, cozy, and well-designed. The view of the Hudson was also lovely. They provided us with tips on things to do in the area as well as bikes, which we unfortunately couldn't take advantage of due to the weather. In any case, we would definitely recommend a stay here if you're looking to visit any of the nearby towns.

    Michael2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • What an idyllic getaway from the city & a rare gem in the Hudson Valley. Loved the back decks (& views), the hot tub and big kitchen. The house is so close to a stunning, miles-long paved path along the Hudson that's perfect for a bike ride (included in rental) or a long run. Just wonderful. Highly recommended for anyone needing a respite from the city grind.

    Kevin2019-11-03T00:00:00Z

Nyack about 20 minutes away , we loved art cafe and walking through town. Sculptures in yard beautiful. Deck great for breakfast. Thank you !!!

  • This place is absolutely gorgeous! Steph and James were excellent hosts with lots of suggestions of local things to do, great communication, attention to detail. The decks, hot tub, and view were fabulous, and the place is filled with so much amazing art, which made it really special.

  • My husband and I absolutely loved this hideaway on the Hudson. We were in town visiting family, and this was ideal for leisurely mornings to catch up with the office, read on the deck, or sunbathe. Afternoons were down on the dock; we only got a chance to wade, but we definitely want to come back for a proper swim! So glad my husband found this place!

A unique opportunity to sleep and relax on the majestic Hudson River only one hour from the great cultural center of New York City. Located on a quiet street that ends at an entrance to the Palisades State Park with a 5 mile bike/hiking trail along the Hudson. Five minutes away you can take a small ferry across the river to the Hudson River train line to Grand Central Station. Very unique location with spectacular river views. You can visit the museums and theater of NYC and come home to hike and relax and listen to the sound of the river. We have a stairway down to the Hudson and provide the use of a canoe & kayak and a fire pit on the shores of the Hudson. The house is a 5 minute drive from the Village of Haverstraw with an array of Latino food and small bodegas and 15 minutes from Nyack, with its charming shops and restaurants. Bear Mountain & Harriman State Park are within a half hour drive with a myriad of amazing hiking trails.
Quiet, bohemian- many artists on the block.
  • Joan’s place is great. The view of the river from the bedrooms and the hot tub is magical. My family and I had a magical long weekend together. We went to nearby Bear Mountain State Park And got to spend lots of time soaking away the stress of city living. Definitely recommend this place! Thank you, Joan!

    Julianne2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Breathe taking views of the Hudson River from both Bedrooms and the sounds of the water crashing on the rocks at night was like nature's white noise! Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are very close which was a plus for us.

    Krizia2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful weekend getaway at Joan's place. Staying on the water was so quiet and relaxing, and the view from the hot tub can't be beat. We took Metro North up and then a car across the river, so it was pretty convenient and quick to get to from NYC. The home is super cozy while even more spacious than expected, with two peaceful bedrooms facing the water and a large tv/living room on the top floor. The real star for us was the outdoor space, though. Our only regret is that it was a little too chilly to fully enjoy the multiple outdoor spaces and amenities down by the river. (nb To appreciate both the amazing view from the home plus water access means lots of stairs, if you have mobility issues to consider.) We hope to come back sometime when the weather is a little more mild!

Welcome to the Hamilton Library at The Doctor's House! The suite is set up like a full apartment, minus kitchen, with private entrance, sitting room w/TV, bedroom, and bathroom/shower on the side of our 1889 Victorian home (formerly the Alexander Hamilton House B&B). We're on a residential street surrounded by enormous trees and backs onto a beautiful forested cliff (with incredible Hudson River views in winter), just a couple blocks' walk to the quiet and quaint village of Croton-on-Hudson.
The space is a part of the house, but functions like a private space with its separate entrance. Your space features a private entrance, sitting room, bedroom, and private bathroom, set up as separate toilet and shower rooms. There is WiFi, a microwave, pod coffee maker, electric kettle, and mini fridge. Coffee pods and selection of teas and breakfast treats are provided. There is also a TV equipped with a Firestick to use Hulu and Netflix.
Our house is on a very quiet street just a couple blocks from the main village center. It's a very safe, beautiful street. The village of Croton-on-Hudson has a few great restaurants, a coffee shop, and a couple of small shops within walking distance, as well as many more restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive. A 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive to gorgeous riverfront parks. 20-30 minute drive to Tarrytown and Cold Spring, as well! Lots of fantastic hiking, some in the immediate area, and plenty more within 20-30 minutes' driving, plus kayak rental available in town in the gorgeous Croton River. Croton is also home to the "New" Croton Dam, an engineering marvel completed in 1906. The dam is the third largest hewn stone structure in the world, after the Great Wall of China and the Great Pyramid at Giza. It's breathtaking, and just a five minute drive from the house. There's also a beautiful hike from the park at the bottom of the dam up to the road on top. In Spring, the neighborhood is bursting with flowering trees. Summer is lush and dense with greenery and flowers, and fall usually gives us an incredible, travel-worthy show of colors. Even winter has its merits, since the river can be seen from anywhere on the property when the leaves have fallen. In October and November, the Van Cortland Manor hosts The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze (or simply "The Blaze"), a Halloween lover's dream! The grounds of the manor are transformed with enormous sculptures made of over 10,000 jack o'lanterns. Advanced tickets are required in October, but November is a little easier to get spots at the last minute.
  • Evan and Chris were great hosts! The place is very clean, very comfortable and we really appreciate the little touches like treats, coffee, tea and wine. Their place is also walking distance to downtown area. This is a perfect place for a getaway weekend.

  • We had a good stay at Chris and Evan’s place. The decoration is lovely and we were very well welcomed. Thanks again !

  • A very lovely space in a very lovely home in a very lovely neighborhood in a very lovely town! Chris was gracious and had helpful advice on places to eat and other things I needed tips on.

    Christine2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, nicely appointed room, great privacy, hosts are easy to work with and very responsive. Walk to upper village restaurants and coffee shop. Walk to riverfront trail and park.

  • Evan and Chris were great hosts! Their space is wonderful and comfortable and they gave us great recommendations for Croton on Hudson. Would love to stay at their place again.

  • The Hamilton Library at "The Doctor's House" in Croton -on Hudson is perfect for couples or individuals visiting Croton. It is conveniently located, tastefully and cleverly decorated and the presence of a sitting room along with a bedroom is a real plus, as is the private entrance. Chris and Evan are excellent hosts. Vistors need to understand that this is a historic property. The bathroom facilities are vintage and consistent with the house itself. We had a delightful visit.

    John2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to stay! Evan & Chris' guesthouse was the perfect option to stay in town for the pumpkin blaze show. Heck, even if there was none it's a great option for relaxation. Their home is so beautiful, modern, clean and the little touches like wine, treats and coffee made it feel like a mini vacation. Highly recommend for couples who want a weekend away from the city. Their place is walking distance to good eats and nature. I was so sad when it was time to leave! Oh and the bed is so comfortable. I will definitely be back again. Thank you Chris and Evan for the incredible stay.

    Mileida2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Chris & Evan provided great tips for local restaurants and sites. The place was lovely and very clean. The bed is so comfortable, I could have spent my whole trip just resting. The area was quiet, but not isolated. You could walk into town.

This charming 1-bedroom garden apartment on the edge of the Historic Sparta District in the Village of Ossining, NY provides stunning views of the Hudson River and is only a 45-minute train ride from Grand Central Terminal in New York City.
Amenities include secure FIOS wi-fi, cable TV, eat-in kitchen, full bath, washer/dryer in unit, off-street parking for one car and direct access to back yard and private deck overlooking the Hudson River.
We love our neighborhood and the Village of Ossining. It is a diverse community of friendly people and interesting things to see and do. A number of businesses and services are within walking distance including restaurants, grocery stores, banks, and a drug store, as well as the Scarborough Metro North station with trains to New York City or the Historic Hudson Valley to the north. We are on the edge of Historic Sparta, a small neighborhood of about a dozen acres, the earliest settlement that remains intact in the Town of Ossining. One of Sparta's qualities almost unique among historic neighborhoods is that the score of noteworthy buildings stand where they were built more than a century and a half ago. When we first relocated here from New York City, we took the walking tour of Historic Sparta homes. We met a number of new neighbors and subsequently joined a community board for the preservation of a local historic landmark, The Jug Tavern of Sparta. Several Westchester County and Historic Hudson Valley points of interest are just minutes by car including Rockefeller Park Preserve, Kykuit Rockefeller Estate, Philipsburg Manor, Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Van Cortlandt Manor, Croton Point Park and Croton Dam Spillway, Teatown Lake Reservation nature preserve, hiking and biking on the Old Croton Aqueduct trail and North County Trailway and a lot more! Local industry includes Pace University, North American Philips Corporation and Research Facility, GE Management Development Institute, Phelps Memorial Hospital, New York Life, and Westchester Community College among others.
  • We loved our stay! This was a perfect little apartment with amazing view so close to the city. The town bus uses a mta metro card and the metronorth and a grocery store are a really easy walk.

    Rebekah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It is our second time staying here. We love it and will continue to stay here when we visit if available!

  • Great stay! Can definitely recommend! I stayed at Tony and Gina's for 2 weeks and it was super comfortable with everything you need!

    Marnus2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a true gem of a place. Tony and Gina provide absolutely anything you could possibly want, and they are very welcoming and helpful. The apartment is comfy and spotless, with a breath-taking view. We have stayed here twice and cannot recommend it highly enough.

    Joan2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at this place- all the small details from the local tips to go eat and hike at to the signs within the house on how to use an appliance were wonderful. Brian and I loved waking up to the views of the river and hearing the birds in the morning. Will be coming back in the fall for sure :) Gina and Tony were great in the response time with questions too!

    Punam2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The place was extremely clean and well-organized, and there were extra small touches such as spices for cooking, butter and condiments. Tony and Gina were very helpful and hospitable, even willing to come down and help us figure out our train routes for the next day. The views were incredible; I wish the weather had beena little warmer so I could have enjoyed the porch.

    Beth2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with amazing views of the Hudson River we love the fact that it was squeaky clean well-organized and the owners are great communicators. A 45-minute train ride to New York Grand Central provides an economic alternative. The location was key to enjoying the sleepy hollow Holloween festivities.

  • I took the Amtrak for a meeting at IBM, which meant that I would be carless and wanting dining options in walking distance from my Airbnb. Mark's place was a perfect fit. Even after seeing the photos on here, I was surprised and impressed with the place. Comfortable bed, big tv, snacks, close to restaurants, and clean. Mark was very responsive and made sure I had everything I needed to have a comfortable stay. Though he has a family, it was quiet and I only heard footsteps in the morning. Would stay again, highly recommend!!

Located about a mile from the Ossining train station that goes to New York City or upstate NY. Easy access to the Hudson River Valley hiking, restaurants, river cruises, and more. House is within walking distance of grocery shopping, pharmacy, churches, and laundromat.
The home was built in the late 1800s and retains many original features. It has been lovingly cared for by our family for the last 40 years. The apartment is on the second floor with three short half flight of stairs to enter. It has one queen bed and a twin trundle bed. A small sitting room and a well equipped kitchen. While we can accommodate four people it is best suited for two to three adults.

  • She was a wonderful host. Answered any question we had. We needed to change dates and times from original reservation and she was very accommodating.

  • Great place to stay, Ossining was a wonderful location with a great small town vibe. I loved it here and Gilda is an amazing host. She really gives you the space you need and is there if you need her. I would recommend to future guests for sure, and would stay here again myself. Quick ride to New York, and has many amenities in the local area.

    Vincent2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Gilda's place was excellent! The pictures don't do justice to how cute the space is! The directions for entry were easy and the space was very clean. There was a Walgreen's in walking distance that was also helpful for our stay. Gilda was also very communicative throughout our visit. I highly recommend staying at her place!

    Stephanie2019-12-28T00:00:00Z

    Maria2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our time at Gilda's place. The accommodations are very comfortable and welcoming. Gilda was very responsive to any questions or requests. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely stay with her again. The area is just beautiful. Small town quiet next to the Hudson with quick access to the city. Tons of tasty restaurants around and family owned businesses. We particularly loved Aji Limon - best sangria ever! Well done, Gilda!

    Laura2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a great, convenient little spot! We’d come back any time. Easy check-in and out, plus walking to basics like coffee. Cozy bedding and bright touches made it the best :)

    Edmund2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gilda was an effective communicator from the start and even rearranged our arrival dates when we realized we had a conflict. Her home was absolutely lovely; inviting, cozy, and the perfect place for us to explore the Hudson Valley from. The location made it so easy to get from points north and south, and the quick walk to downtown made it easy to grab coffee in the morning before starting the day. Would definitely stay here again!

Welcome to our little Red Barn! Not so little actually, our 1840 barn has been transformed into a complete guest house. The whole place is yours! We live across the driveway in the main house if you have any questions or concerns. The only thing we share is the parking area and it is very big. We can accommodate up to 4 people max and is good to remember you will all be sharing what is essentially one large bedroom.
1st floor has.....Full kitchen with dining area....tableware, utensils, pots and pans, Keurig K cup coffee, snacks and a Weber charcoal grill for outdoor cooking are provided. Laundry room is off the kitchen as is a large exercise room with free weights, yoga mats, exercise balls etc. NOTE ALL EQUIPMENT IS USED AT YOUR OWN RISK. We are not responsible for any injuries, weight loss, or general feelings of well-being caused by using this room. Back door opens to a private patio for grilling or relaxing and a nice cotton hammock stretched between two large oaks at the edge of the woods. 2nd floor is essentially one large bedroom/living space with vaulted ceiling. A queen bed, twin bed and couch can all be used for sleeping. We also have a few air mattresses if that is preferable. A tv with Verizon FIOS and WIFI is included, as is a retro Atari game system (for younger people or those who want to relive their youth!). The bathroom with shower is up here too. Barn has forced-air heat and central AC. We are roughly a 45 minute drive or a 45 express Metro North train ride to Manhattan and live about 2 miles from the Croton Harmon station. Our location is ideal for anyone in the city who wants to get away for a bit and explore the River Towns, or as a base to visit the Catskills or further upstate and not deal with the traffic to and from the city. We are an easy day trip to Hunter Mountain and all the ski resorts, West Point, Dia Beacon and Mohunk Mountain House to name a few! I should also mention we are maybe 3 minutes from the Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze!! We are also good for anyone from out of town visiting the city for a show, dinner or an event, but doesn't actually want to stay in the city.
We live on the outskirts of town so having a car is probably best. Of course there are lots of cabs around and Uber.
  • We loved this place. Amazing bed, super fun amenities like an Atari! Popcorn! And a gym!! We’ll be back.

    Meg2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This barn is adorable and spacious. When I arrived it was super clean and cozy. I took a Lyft to get around to local parks and restaurants and it was all close and easy. Tom and Bonnie were very responsive and helpful. I highly recommend that you stay here. I came alone but there is plenty of room for more!

    Janel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • An awesome and lovely space with plenty of thoughtful touches and helpful local tips !

    Francesca2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space! Great hosts with quick responses to every issue, comment, question, etc. I needed a longer term space and the Red Barn was perfect. I stayed in the space for 2 months and had no issues. It was a pleasure to try Tom and Bonnie's recommendations and explore the nearby town of Ossining. The living space itself is an apartment converted from an actual barn and contains all of the amenities one needs: kitchen, bedroom, laundry, etc. Would be a great space for multiple people who need to get away for a weekend, a week, or a longer term space for a couple people. It's located a short distance from the train lines and right along the highway so getting to and from New York City is an absolute breeze. It was kept extremely well and cleaning services came every two weeks or as needed. If I come back to the area, I would love to book this space again!

    Loren2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, the barn is much more beautiful in person and we're going to plan another trip to come back over the summer.

    Mitchell2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tom and Bonnie were very easy to communicate with. The Barn space is exactly as described in the ad - if anything, it was bigger than I expected. The gym area is very large and several folks can do yoga at once. We comfortably fit 4 people in the sleeping space. They left us some treats, notes for local restaurants/attractions, and everything we needed for the weekend. It was perfect for our quiet guys weekend away from the city. Zero complaints - it's quiet and safe and serene. Would definitely stay again.

    Jose2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful private apartment that is close to Ossining and Sleepyhollow. Great location, easy communication with owners. They even left us a note with tips and dining in the area. Place was very clean and cozy. Ample parking and and everything you could need to feel at home. Especially nice was the wide selection of coffe, teas, and even milk in the fridge. There was a candy dish with Halloween treats, which we quickly sampled. Thank you for all your extra touches. A 5 star ⭐ Airbnb!

This is a 2nd floor studio apartment with a deck overlooking a garden. Walking distance from downtown, restaurants, and train to NYC. Small kitchen, private bathroom. 1 full bed. It is possible to add an air mattress or pack-n-play for a child.
This studio is in an historic district of Ossining. The street has many historic homes, and this particular house was built in 1850. Since the 1970's it has owned by an architect and his family. The home has been both restored and interpreted, it has maintained much of its Victorian character and has whimsical modern elements. The stairway leading up to studio deck is one of the modern highlights.
Ossining is a great village with tons of history! Our home is situated on one of the oldest streets in the village with numerous historic homes. We are also walking distance from Main Street, which offers dining choices, and conveniences like a drug store, post office and stationary. The farmers market is available on Saturdays too!
  • This place is in a great location for walking to the train station. The 3 westerly grill next to the train station has an amazing view of the Hudson- check it out. We never met Gretchen, we met another woman who greeted us. We were never bothered and our space felt private. It was perfect for our needs. They left some snacks and half and half for us to use which was nice. Overall a great stay with no complaints. The view from the porch isn’t half bad because their are a lot of trees and it’s nice. Squirrels everywhere! We loved watching them all. Thanks for a good stay!

  • A wonderful stay! Great location, quiet, and comfortable.

    Laura2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Gretchen is a wonderful, thoughtful, and conscientious host. I am so glad I chose to stay with her for my first month in town. Her place had everything I could have asked for.

    Nicole2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Place was very clean and the aesthetic touches were great (like a binder with restaurant menus and other tips). Great place to stay for a solo traveler or couple. Host was friendly and helpful.

  • Super sweet and beautiful place

    Kimberly Costa2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gretchen's place is everything you could want in an airbnb. The location was perfect - a short walk to the train, to restaurants, grocery store, etc. The apartment was cool, light, and airy, even though it was very hot on our visit. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need. The snacks were a nice touch. Gretchen was very easy to communicate with. The apartment was very clean. I would recommend this airbnb for a single traveler or a couple without hesitation.

    Meg2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you arrive after dark, Gretchen will have the light on. Her personal note of welcome confirmed for me that moving to Ossining was the right move.

    Christine2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was the third time we stayed with Gretchen. Her apartment is very welcoming and cozy. She is always available for anything we need.

This writers & artists retreat on a wooded acre borders the exclusive Hudson National Golf Course and Hudson River. Woods, rocks, water, flora & fauna abound: wild turkeys, deer, foxes, birds of prey, and occasional stray golfers provide constant viewing interest. This well-appointed house is quiet, relaxing and remote yet close to the village, water and parks (Croton Point) and everything a guest might need. Croton is 45 minutes to NYC on Metro North, 20 minutes to Woodbury Commons Outlets!
Our 2-story home sits on an acre of groomed and wooded property perfect for your retreat away from the hectic city life. The moment you arrive here you will begin to feel more relaxed and peaceful. You may even start to get some creative juices flowing – my aunt lived here for 55 years and was a journalist and did all her writing at the house. And you will see my grandfather’s artwork throughout.
Croton-on-Hudson, a village within the town of Cortlandt, offers magnificent views of the Hudson River, and is steeped in art and history. With a population of less than 10,000 within about 4.5 square miles, Croton offers many wonderful restaurants, coffee and specialty shops, banks, laundry and gas stations in a quaint and friendly atmosphere.
  • The house is beautiful, cozy, and surrounded by nature. It was a true joy to stay there and Peter was extremely responsive to our questions and requests.

  • A lovely place and a great host.

    Padhraic2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The screened in porch, as well as heavily windowed living room, over looking an endless sea of trees perched at the top of the hill was a great place to watch the sunset. This plus the absence of noise other than the noises of nature make this a great place to take a respite from the grind and relax.

    Jerret2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great home in a relaxing and convenient location. Peter was easy to communicate with and accomodating!

    Hunter2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, quiet, peaceful place off of the beaten path. The house has plenty of character and has everything one needs to cook with in case you don't want to go out. Plenty of wildlife including deer, squirrels, chipmunks and birds. Nice fireplace to stay cozy next to, although we didn't use it. Nice book and music collection and paintings.

    Jon2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Peter’s place was great! Very clean and a great location for fall in the Hudson valley. We wish our busy schedule allowed us to enjoy the great back porch but we were too busy! About a week before our arrival Peter sent me some great suggestions for eating, etc but our schedule was already set. We’ll definitely be back though so will save his suggestions. Peter was so accommodating, even offering to bring us a coffee grinder when I realized I brought whole bean coffee with me! I would say the only negative was the the third bedroom was tiny and the bed/futon not very comfortable. The other 2 bedrooms were spacious and comfortable!

  • We had a great time at Peter's home. It was super clean and comfortable. I loved the style of the home and will totally stay here again if heading to Croton in the future. Thanks for the great stay!

Our guest space sits about 30 yards from the main house on 1.29 acres of hilly, wooded land full of deer and birds and a meandering stream. The guest space is one room with full-size bed, alcove kitchen, desk, views of woods, full bath, Wifi, large closet, and garage parking if requested. It is 240 square feet about the size of a typical NYC studio apartment. Photos are included at the end of my photo stream. Stony Point is a mix of rural, New England-pretty and typical American small town.
Please also bear in mind this is not a remote-forest-experience (not in the least.) It's also not very posh and manicured -- more "Grey Gardens" than "Better Home and Gardens." We are situated in a town that's a mixture of rural and suburban. The house is bounded on one side by an acre (not a large area) of trees and stream, but on the other side there's a two-lane, paved road that gets plenty of traffic during the day. (Though not so much at night.) It is DARK up here after dark, so house numbers are hard to see and you'll do better with a GPS. The guest house is small. The deed to the house says it's 240 square feet. A comfortable fit for one person -- but also for two (depending how they feel about each other...haha...or even three if that third is very small.) The optimal number of guests is one, as, in size only, it's a bit like one of those New York City studio apartments. Several single working people have spent months here, working out of the apartment and have claimed to be quite satisfied with the experience. The Wifi has recently been upgraded and people who need reliable web access should be fine. The bed is full-size. (IKEA Malm frame.) The bath is full, with nice water pressure and ready hot water, and there is a kitchenette -- stove, refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee maker -- in an alcove. You would be about 30 yards away from the main house where I live with my husband. The main house is of historical interest because it used to belong to the modern artist Jasper Johns. Indeed, Johns designed some of the unique features of the main house and he turned part of the house into a huge, light-flooded studio where he painted -- during what is known as his "hashmark" phase, i.e. after he did the flags and made piles of money.
Stony Point is what I call a Rubarb, somewhere between Rural and Suburban. Parts of this little town, notably Main Street where we live, look like any country road you'd see in New England. There are several churches, and many small homes, painstakingly landscaped with flowering trees. Other parts of the town look like Everytown U.S.A., i.e. not so scenic but at least amenity-rich with fast food restaurants and chain drug stores. We're big fans of Hogan's Diner in the center of town -- and apparently so is the rest of the town, as its always jammed to the gills. The food is good, they do takeout and there's a busy, bustling atmosphere. It's a family restaurant but the food is much better than at homogenized, franchise places like Denny's or Bob Evans. Waiting for a table is not bad at all. You can sit on a bench they provide and watch the local scene.

  • Julie and Christina are so quick to respond to communications and really make my stays with them so easy. I look forward to staying again the next time I have work in the area. The useful "things you may need/have forgotten" are also appreciated... like the band aids in the bathroom cabinet the morning I cut myself rushing to get ready for work.

Charming, former dairy farm with 1800's barn, pond, and beautifully landscaped grounds on 3 acres. Wolf cooktop, high-end appliances, wine fridge, professionally decorated with high-end furnishings, antiques and comfy couches, two fireplaces and fire-pit outside! (wood provided), lovely and private brick patio with teak furniture and Adirondack chairs. You'll be sharing the home with myself and two Golden Retrievers, Libby and Hudson.
Teatown Lake Reservation is close by with 14 miles of hiking trails. You can access Bald Mountain from across my larger pond. At the top of Bald Mountain you can see the skyline of Manhattan on a clear day. Great dining in Croton and nearby villages. 30 minutes to West Point and shopping at Woodbury Outlets, 20 minutes to Cold Spring for antiques, great dining and right on Hudson.
  • Jean was a wonderful host for our weekend getaway. Her home is beautiful, comfy, and in a private, woodsy area of town that's perfect for an autumn weekend. We enjoyed our stay!

  • Wonderful, charming 1770’s house. “Hudson” , Jean’s Golden retriever will probably greet you at the door. We had a wonderful stay, Jean connected quickly thru AirBnB texts, gave suggestions for the area, and spent time talking up the Croton/Teatown history over morning coffee. Very clean and inviting home. We’ll be back for sure! Drew & JoAnn Purdy New London, NH
