  • Marit was very accommodating. We had several changes in plans along the way as I was coordinating with family visiting from around the globe. She was flexible and responsive.

  • Great place for my snowboarding trip. Tons of room. Kitchen had everything you would need to make anything even a waffle iron. The projector was useful for movie nights. Only that was the heater in the big master would wake us once in a while.

  • It was a quiet, secluded, but still accessible place for a getaway for our family of 3 plus a dog. We were also working, so appreciated the Wifi, which worked great the first day, but was very slow the next - a quick reboot took care of that. Loved watching the birds and the kitchen with huge windows and skylight.

    Grace2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a quiet family getaway! Our kids loved the barn and the cat and we enjoyed evenings in the screened gazebo.

  • Marit was a great host. My family came to Madison for a wedding celebration and during our stay, we felt like we were at home. Everything that we needed was provided by Marit. The location was perfect. It was nice to get out of the city lights and enjoy the countryside.

  • Beautiful property in a secluded area just outside Madison. We had plenty of space for all the guests and the house/yard was great for yard games, grilling, campfires, and some hiking. We would definitely stay here again if we plan to come back to the area.

    Ian2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • House was just as described - really comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen great bird watching, added bonus of friendly outdoor cats. Perfect location for our family.

    Elizabeth2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Marit promptly answered all of our questions and had a very easy check in/out process. The house had tons of space for our large group and we enjoyed spending time on the patio and in the gazebo. The kitchen was well equipped and overall the space was very homey.

  • This place was so perfect for peace and quiet. The house was spacious and wonderfully sunny. The kitchen set up was perfect for a larger party. While sitting outside, I could hear the birds singing and the leaves blowing in the wind. Other than than a rare whrrrr of a car on the main road. I will definitely return.

Located conveniently west of Madison, WI, close to all that Madison and Dane County have to offer. On 14 wooded acres in the driftless area. Exceptional hiking and biking opportunities close by. Come to relax and enjoy nature.
  • We had a lovely stay at Barbara's home this weekend. Her beautiful house is tucked away in a wooded area and borders a nature preserve. My husband and I are from Milwaukee, so this was a welcome retreat from the city! We were in the area to see a show at American Players Theater and the drive was under 30 min from her home to the theater. Barbara's home would make a lovely stay for exploration of all this part of the state has to offer. Barbara was an excellent host and really made my husband and I feel welcome. She even drove with us to make sure we would be able to find the best route around the construction on Hwy 14, knowing that it may be challenging to find our way back in the dark after the show! The room we stayed in was cozy and quiet. We shared a lovely breakfast with her on her fabulous deck overlooking the woods in the morning. If we hadn't been in a hurry to get home, we certainly would have stayed for a hike in the area. Barbara is a fabulous host in a stunning home!

Try a 33 mile bike through Mazomanie, Black Earth, Cross Plains and finally back to our home. Beautiful valleys and meadows! If you want to train for the Ironman we are 3-4 miles from the bicycle route.
  • Karen and her husband Larry were great hosts! They help us a lot with all information from the area regarding our road biking. Larry even started charcoal grill for our stakes after our late arrival and Karen went shopping before we woke up to get us what we like to eat for breakfast. Let's do not forget about the delicious banana bread Karen made especially for us. The house is very green and cozy. I recommend staying with them if you want to spend a little time in Madison area! Thanks Karen!

    Kasia 2016-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Larry are great hosts! Before ariving communication with Karen was perfect especially because she always answered super fast. I stayed with them for three days and always enjoyed chatting with them. Everything was just like described and expected. Karen's house was just wonderful with all the plants and the big windows and the bed I slept in has been extreme comfortable. I was free to use the kitchen and stuff almost everytime. Karen and Larry gave me some good advice what to visit around Madison and always tried to make me feel comfortable. All in all I really enjoyed my stay at their house and can only recommend anybody to meet both of them!

    Fabian2015-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second stay at Karen's place. Great location, easy access to highway and the city. Karen is nice host who, once again, made my stay comfortable at their house. Their house is homey and room is clean, comfortable and calming. Karen respects privacy while at the same time give support when needed. Morning coffee and freshly baked banana bread is exactly what you need to get your morning started. I will definatly stay there again.

    Sasha2016-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • The home is absolutely beautiful, and we were sent off with some muffins and fruit along with the delicious orange juice that we were so obviously obsessed with. It was a delightful little getaway, even though we were out and about in Madison for the majority of it. Thanks a ton!

    Ellie2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very nice stay at Karens house. Nice surroundings, quite and she was very hospitable. Check in was as planned with her, she explained everything and all went smooth. Bed was comfortable, room was as listed, bathroom very nice.

  • Karen and Larry's Organic Oasis "Nature Nook" is exactly as it is pictured - spacious, beautiful, with great energy and ambience. We instantly felt at home in their home and that is definitely a testament to the hosts' being so personable and good-natured. The atrium is wonderful, full of plants and sunlight and the grounds have a ton of Wisconsin native flowers and plants, which was a treat to see and smell. The room itself was very comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed our stay and cannot say enough how great Karen and Larry are!

    Jackie2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • I loved that Karen was able to accommodate us at the last minute. The kombucha and waffles were amazing!

    Jennifer2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • We felt completely at home in Karen's welcoming and beautiful space. She is a wonderful, thoughtful and personable host. We would love to go back.

  • Wonderful weekend with fabulous hosting by Joan. The house was spacious, very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked and we cooked both nights with healthy, hardy produce from the farm: beans, peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, melons, carrots, onions, herbs. Eggs in the morning from Joan's nearby chickens! The house is right on a bike trail to take you into Middleton...great base to Spring Green and canoeing on the WI river. Joan was a gracious and generous hostess (and clearly a fantastic gardener!)

    Anne2012-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful place for us to stay for a family wedding. It was clean and Joan was very accommodating to us and our 2 pups. We were able to take lovely morning walks in the countryside and park. Thanks

    Nancy2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Seven of us (five adults, three kids) stayed at Joan's beautiful farmhouse over Thanksgiving this year, and hosted dinner for 18 people in her spacious dining room. Everyone had a lovely time - the house was warm, comfortable, and had plenty of room for the family. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, the setting was serene, and the drive to downtown Madison only around 15 minutes in the snow. Joan even provided winter vegetables from her garden for our dinner! We loved our vacation on the farm, and found everything to be just as described, although the photos just don't convey how pretty the house is! We will definitely re-book next time the whole family goes to Madison. Thanks Joan!

  • We had a great stay. Nice house, close to Madison. The Internet access was great as we were able to stream Netflix movies on the TV (which made up for the lack of cable!). Our dogs also enjoyed the house. Overall a really great stay

  • Joan was very accommodating and hospitable. Everything that you would want in an airbnb host. The home was great and conveniently located.

  • The house was very comfortable and welcoming. It was close to our venue but just far enough outside the city to feel like we were at home. Rooms were comfortable. Better than a hotel . It worked out great.

  • Great place to stay for a family or group. Comfortably slept our party of 8. Quiet location surrounded by farm fields yet just a couple minute drive from shops and restaurants in Middleton. Downtown Madison is also an easy 15 minute drive away. Joan was very friendly and welcoming upon our arrival. I would definitely return should I come back to the area again. Thanks Joan!

Beautiful full-log home set in the woods, part of a secluded neighborhood, just 10 minutes from the west side of Madison. Cozy bedroom (the Cabin Room), with a view of the wooded backyard. Sole use of main-level bath, right next to your bedroom, and access to main-level shared living areas. We provide coffee, tea, fruit, and store-bought pastries to help start your morning.
Outside parking available for one or two cars. Lots of birds and (occasionally) other wildlife such as foxes, turkeys, deer, coyotes can be observed or heard in our backyard from your bedroom window, wrap-around-deck or on adjoining paths and neighborhood streets. The bed is a full-size futon with a 3" memory-foam padded mattress topper - very comfy.
We live in a beautiful rural sub-division with lots of wooded acreage. There is a nearby bike trail. Take some nice walks, bike the area, or drive to many area attractions we can point you toward.
  • Never stayed in a log home before. If theirs is any indication, I've been missing out. I've been to Madison many times, often in connection with football games, but somehow never came into the area this way. Assuming there will be a next time, that will change. (Go, Gophs!)

  • Exactly what we were looking for on our stop through from TN to MN - Paula and Dan have a beautiful log home on a nice property in a residential area. And their pup Cleo was so sweet :) Private bedroom and bathroom. Restaurants within short driving distance. Enjoyed coffee and pastry in the morning before we took off. Thanks for the great stay!

  • Great experience and a very unique house. We travel with a 10 month old baby girl, Dan and Paula do think lots of thing in advance to make we three feel like staying at home.... Cleo, a very cute and friendly dog, my babygirl likes him a lot. :)

  • Great night at Paula and Dan's place. The room and bathroom were great. I didn't get to meet Dan, but their pup, Cleo, was there in his stead. Paula was very accommodating and I would definitely stay again if I was in the area. It is in a safe and quiet neighborhood a bit outside of Madison. Beautiful country.

  • Paula and Dan's place was exactly what we were looking for when we visited devil's lake - A place to get a good night's sleep before a day of trekking. Paula and Dan's recommendations on how to explore the lake area was very helpful. The room was cosy and just right for us. A special mention needs to be made of their dog Cleo, who has to be the friendliest animal I have met, and a force of boundless energy. We had a very comfortable stay and will definitely return if we are in the area.

(Please read all information provided) A cozy country house on a working organic farm. Nestled in the hills 25 minutes from Madison, its far enough away and still close enough. Animals and gardeners populate the space. Come as you are for a quiet, beautiful and fun summer in the Driftless. We have space for camping and have hosted weddings, so if you're interested in something different let me know over at common gardens via the introns. BRING NO BOTTLED WATER, NO STYROFOAM PLATES. Drive safe!
You would be renting the whole farmhouse, and have it to yourself, there are other folks working and animals on the property. Its a two bedroom (one has one full and a bunk bed, the other a king), 1.5 baths, kitchen, laundry, wifi and phone, House grounds include; An oven, fire pit, grill, and yard. When you arrive the house will be open and the keys on the table, I leave the washed bedding on top of the beds for you to make, sometimes I make them, after checking out, throw your sheets in the hamper.
The pastoral scenery of the Driftless and access to near by parks. If you are looking for a cool day trip, I like spring green, but most of the time its just nice to relax away from the city. Here are some usual spots people visit; Indian Lake state park and the Ice trail are within a short drive (2 min). Wollersheim Winery and boat rentals on the Wisconsin river in Sauk City, Devil's lake, lake Wisconsin, Mazomanie Beach (An iconic nude beach). We sit on the gateway to Wisconsin's 'Driftless' region, amazingly beautiful and unexpected, within easy driving distance (30 min) is Spring Green and Mt. Horeb; House on the Rock, Taliesin, Cave of the Mounds and Tyrol Basin. About 45 minutes to Wisconsin Dells, Devil's lake, and Baraboo, great looking hills that way, great camping and nature over there. 25 minutes to downtown Madison by car, or 90+ minutes by bike along HWY 12 bike path, enjoy the vibrancy of Wisconsin's capitol, like the Saturday farmer's market on the capitol square (allegedly biggest in the country) is a must see, arrive early because it gets crowded. Check the Guide book for my favorite restaurants, bars, sights and services in the area.
  • Fantastic. That is the only way I can sum up our experience at the farmhouse. Michael was friendly, very welcoming and simply a pleasure to be around (he went above and beyond considering his busy racing schedule). We had a relaxing couple of days and wish we had stayed for longer. The farm is home to some friendly animals, a wonderful duck and a pair of inquisitive peacocks. An ideal location to just kick back, relax or get some work done. It's a wonderful environment to just exist in. Book it!

    Mike2013-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • I rented the farmhouse for my family for a week and they loved the peace and quiet of the farm. The house was very cosy and they appreciated having the full kitchen to have some homemade meals. My dad especially loved the location and idea of living on a farm. Although we didn't see people around we knew there was always someone around to assist us if we needed anything. Oh and excellent collection of books, loved going through the titles. Too bad I didn't have enough time to go through them all!

    Kshipra2014-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay on Michael's farm. It's at the end of a long wildflower strewn road, and the land is beautiful and utterly free of man made sound. The house is basic but comfortable, with plenty of room for my family, and tons of wonderful books. The kitchen is well stocked, and we had the extraordinary gift of farm fresh eggs, no doubt from the chickens living 100 feet from the house. In the morning, Michael and Rose showed me and my kids their poultry farm, restored barn, garden, and bee keeping frames. So in addition to a nice stay, it was educational as well. We also walked up the road and picked a wildflower bouquet for my wife from the limitless expanse of flowers. So beautiful! The only thing you need to be prepared for is the roosters. It's a real farm, and the roosters do start crowing, loudly, at dawn. We had a white noise app, which drowned it out and we were fine, but if you're a light sleeper, you might be getting up very early!

  • Loved it. Michael has a beautiful home, and the farm is a wonderful place. We hope to make it back there soon.

  • Amazing little getaway located a convenient distance from Madison, while still feeling remote and private. Fun and interesting books and artwork nestled in every room. Stayed there with 3 girlfriends for a little reunion and had a blast! We cooked dinners, drank old fashioneds, and explored the surrounding farm area. I didn't get to meet Michael but he was very friendly, easy to communicate with, and very accessible while we were at the house. Thanks for a great and memorable weekend!

    Kristen2013-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our peaceful getaway to Mike's farmhouse! It has everything you need on site, from cookware to dishware to extra towels and blankets. Nothing fancy, but we weren't looking for fancy for our rustic escape from the city. Mike is a super nice guy with eclectic taste, and his house tells that story. A perfect spot in a serene setting to take a breath, read by the wood stove, and cook meals with people you love. We brought our own supplies and ingredients, which I'd tend to recommend, as the nearest full-service grocery is a 20 to 30 minute drive. Much to do nearby in the warmer months, but since we were there in winter, I'd recommend a drive to Mt. Horeb or Sauk City, a visit to the lovely Cross Plains coffee shop, ot a tour and tasting at Wollersheim Winery. If things like thread counts, hospital corners, and white glove tests are important to you, this probably isn't your place. But if you're looking for an ideal setting for real decompression, I'd highly recommend Mike's farmhouse.

    Christy2014-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • My friend Eric stayed at Michael's farm house for one night, and we liked both the location (quiet and relaxing) and unique interior decoration (quite artsy, loved all the interesting books). Michael made us feel at home by getting a fire ready in the fireplace and greeting us upon our arrival.

    Mareike2014-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and cozy farmhouse. My little boys loved feeding the chickens and having room to run around! Michael greeted us upon arrival and introduced us to the chickens and his dog Daisy. We loved the fresh eggs for breakfast.

My place is minutes from downtown Madison, 2 miles from Epic, . You’ll love the place because of 15 acres for running our horse business and very close to grocery stores, West Towne Mall, Point Cinema Theater, Elver Park and with many bike trails around. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).

  • For this value, you can't beat it. Lovely place out in the country. The guest area has a full kitchen with big windows and a walk-out patio. There's a big yard with horses and a pool. Neva welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed. The beds are big, though the mattress I slept on had a substantial slump in the middle – not the best for bad backs. Try the other room's bed if you can. Other than that – make sure you are cool with a friendly dog jumping up into you to say hello when you arrive! Very nice dogs.

  • This was a magnificent mini vacation for my daughter and me where we explored some family history in area and drove to Spring Green for Talisen. Neva's home is amazing as is her hospitality. The flowers in the gardens are gorgeous. My daughter did yoga by the pool. Our dog met horses for first time. Bravo! Bravo!

  • I stayed with them for an entire month because my apartment move in date was pushed back. Very nice location near shops, restaurants and the Beltline but in a quiet, safe neighborhood. It was definitely a bargain, and I would recommend! You have your own bedroom with a twin bed and bathroom. I didn't use the common areas much if at all because I was not home very often.

Only 15 mins to UW Campus or Epic. Cute 2nd floor walk-up apartment - a breath of fresh air located in a restored 1898 building in Middleton. It's about 430 sf and has 10' ceilings, arched doorways and four 6' windows offering tons of natural light. Just outside you can walk within a block to 10+ restaurants, the best bakery in the area is on the 1st floor, and retail shops abound. Transportation is readily available with a free trolley, metro bus, and parking very nearby.
SPACE: There is a small full bath that has a marble floor and new fixtures (except the old cast iron tub which has been recoated), cozy kitchen, living room with fold out couch, and a separate bedroom that accommodates a queen bed and small night stand. There are two small closets - one with shelves and one for hanging. KITCHEN: The kitchen is cute, cute, cute, and the cabinets date back to the 50's (most likely). There is a gas range, large one bowl sink, refrigerator, toaster, french press coffee pot and Keurig with coffee pods. It is stocked with everything you would need to prepare a meal. There is no dishwasher or disposal. THE LAYOUT: The building was built in 1898 and was fully restored in 2009. Because the building is old, the 22 stairs to the apartment are steep. The apartment has a recently renovated small bath with marble tile, a pedestal sink, and cast iron tub/shower with subway tile surround. The living room has two huge windows, a gas heater, and window air conditioner. The entire apartment has original maple wood floors (except the bath). The living room has a fold out sofa, 1 chair and a pouf and small tables with 2 lamps. There is also a cell phone charging shelf. The bedroom is adjacent to the living room and has a queen bed and small side table with lamp, and a ceiling fan. There is a closet with shelves in the living room and a closet with hangers in the bedroom. The bedroom also has 2 large windows. The co-host, Marty, lives right next door ready to help you with whatever you need. HOUSE RULES: Quiet hours are 9pm-8am, we have long-term tenants and respect them and their quiet space. There is absolutely no smoking in the building anywhere. No pets. Nothing (or other items such as wipes) in the toilets except toilet paper. This is extremely important for the health of our old plumbing. Please respect us, the building and our tenants.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Downtown Middleton is a vibrant little community attached to Madison such that you can't tell where one starts and the other begins. It is chock full of restaurants, cafes, retail stores, coffee shops, wine bars, and some of the best breakfast places in Dane County. People travel for miles for a Hubbard Avenue Diner pie. Bloom Bake Shop, on the main level of our building, specializes in gluten free and vegan fare. Their treats are sensational.
  • We had a great stay at Lynn's place. We were greeted by Marty (co host) and his wife upon arriving. The place was cozy and clean, situated in a charming town just a short drive to downtown Madison. At first, we were concerned about having to drive back and forth to Madison, but it actually turned out better than staying in downtown as it did not take long and the drive was pleasant. Going downstairs to Bloom bakery to grab warm donuts, glutenfree biscuits and fresh coffee in the morning was such a treat. We love the large windows as well as bottled waters, snacks, and apples. Lynn and Marty thought of everything that make you feel welcomed. We will definitely stay there again.

    Rina2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place! It's in a super charming location, and we loved the decor and character to it. Lynn added a lot of personal touches to make us feel welcome. The owners of bloom and the shop below it were also very lovely. Would definitely stay again!

    Megan2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful anniversary weekend in this cozy, comfortable, and historic apartment in Middleton Wisconsin. Lynn and Marty are fantastic hosts and had great communication throughout the process. They provided brochures, coupons and menus for local shopping and dinning. Even suppling us with some waters, snacks, and Keurig k-cups. Lynn and Marty were even thoughtful enough to leave us a local bottle of red wine as an anniversary gift! -such a sweet gesture! The apartment itself had wonderful amounts of vintage charm, and every amenity we needed for our weekend get-away. Primely located, it was easy to find great shopping, dining, and even a brewery in just a few short walking minutes. And if you were looking to venture closer to the capital Madison was just a short drive away! Another locational perk that never hurts to mention, is the best bakery in the Madison area happens to operate just below on the lower level. This means there's only 22 stairs standing between you and the best French Press coffee and sweet potato doughnut you've ever had (or maybe almond rose cupcake, lemon curd, salted Carmel, whoopie pies, or cinnamon (URL HIDDEN) really hard to say ;) We very much enjoyed our time in Middleton at Lynn & Marty's. And would definitely not hesitate to book with them again or recommend to friends, family, or anyone(URL HIDDEN)

  • Lynn's place was super cute and in a perfect location for our weekend getaway to explore the surrounding area and The House on the Rock. Co-host Marty was very friendly, offered suggestions for places to go, and checked on us shortly after arrival to see if we needed anything. The apartment was quiet and relaxing yet close to a lot of great restaurants and shops. It was clear that a lot of attention and care went into making sure that we had a nice stay – including a welcome treat of donuts from the downstairs bakery, snacks, water bottles, super-soft towels, nice linens and quality kitchen ware. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here! Thanks Lynn and Marty :)

  • This apartment is an absolute steal! I came into Madison for work for the week and didn’t think I’d find a place to stay for under $100/night. I stumbled across this apartment in downtown Middleton and you can’t beat the price and location. The apartment itself is in a historic building but the inside has been redone with modern amenities and decorations. Marty and Lynn were excellent hosts and answered all my questions within minutes of me asking them. I also recommend checking out the Roman Candle pizza shop down the street. I’ll certainly be staying here again on my next trip to Madison!

    Vishal2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far one of the best Airbnb's I have stayed at! We were greeted by a fantastic host who asked if we needed anything and was very accessible. Thanks to the bake shop downstairs, the place smelled amazing when we woke up. Lynn thought of everything from furnishing with a coffee maker, games, a couple of books, and endless little things you wouldn't think you needed but was there when you got there. The apartment was accessible to all the events we wanted to attend and we were able to try out the restaurants and brewery nearby without having to drive!

The kitchenette/sitting room has a convection countertop oven, microwave, sink, refrigerator, dining table and couch. The bathroom has a shower. Dining and shopping commensurate to Madison, the state capital of Wisconsin, and the University of Wisconsin environment. Extensive biking, hiking, golf and five lakes are in our backyard. Madison and Middleton have consistently ranked as best places to live in America. We are 17 minutes away from the UW campus, 25 minutes to Epic, 18 minutes to Dane County Airport.
Our development is just off the beltline and is a wooded community on a hill. Private yet close to everything.
  • This is hands down the best Airbnb experience I have had. Phill and Vicki were lovely hosts. Their home is beautiful and the basement apartment is even more spacious and private than expected. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this listing.

    Gabriela2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful space to spend part of our vacation! It was a little piece of heaven in the woods! Phill and Vicky were very accommodating and went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. It was nice to have the private mini-kitchen and spacious great room as well as the deck around the pool to enjoy a couple of meals. The bed was super comfortable and we had plenty of room in the bedroom for our open suitcases. We can't complain about the accommodations a bit but you should know that no breakfast is provided.

    Deanne2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect retreat for my husband & me. We enjoyed the beautiful gardens, the pool, the spaciousness provided, comfy bed and linens. It was so nice to linger over a pot of tea on the porch. Phill & Vicky were so friendly and helpful, and their recommendations were spot on. The only disappointment for us was that it looked like there was a large kitchen, but we weren't able to cook breakfast; they did have a small refrigerator and microwave though. We truly had a great time there!

    Shawn2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was relaxing and we thoroughly enjoyed the expansive accommodations which look out over the beautiful gardens and pool area. The fresh flowers, lovely artwork, and seashells helped make it both peaceful and welcoming. The kitchen area and table were spacious as we planned our outings. We enjoyed Frank Lloyd Wright's home - Taliesin and a UW-Madison football game - Go Badgers! It was a lovely stay and we so appreciated the wonderful hosts.

  • Maria kindly accepted my last minute request to stay at her lovely walkout basement apartment. I was in town canvassing for a political candidate and we were worn out, so I was grateful for that. After we arrived, I would not say that I felt particularly welcomed. We arrived at 9 on the dot, as we had arranged, but I came to understand that she goes to bed earlier than that and she made us feel like we were imposing. The space itself was nice -- lots of wood floors, and in the morning, light. There is a sauna which is a very unusual and welcome touch. But the beds were just okay -- mine was on the soft side and my brother's was a foldout couch of the metal bar in your back variety. The towels were somehow both threadbare and the texture of sandpaper. We asked maria for instructions on how to work the TV -- there were three remotes and no guidebook for the apartment as so many helpfully do. Maria said something to the effect of us being the first people to admit we couldn't figure out how remote controls work?! That was the note she left us on. We brought takeout chinese and a six pack and put all our garbage into a bag and rinsed our two dishes and left them in the sink. Maria had mentioned when we talked that she had to clean the place for us and so I guess I registered in my mind that we were paying a cleaning fee. There was no cleaning fee, and Maria had expected us to wash the dishes, resulting in a passive aggressive note in my inbox the following day about how we were her sixtieth guest and the only ones lazy enough not to do our own dishes. Wow. Two dishes and two cups. You wouldn't think that would be something to earn you a written reprimand from someone purporting to be a host but you would be wrong. This place is a good 40 minute drive from Madison, and looking back, I would have stayed closer and saved myself the hostile hosting.

    carrie2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED the privacy Maria's place afforded our family! Very clean.

    Ken2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Maria's apartment was lovely, spacious and spotlessly clean. Maria was easy to communicate with and was fine with our late arrival from the airport. We especially enjoyed the sauna! The dogs were friendly and playful. We would highly recommend Maria's place!

    Gay2016-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • My fiance and I finally found some time to get away together, and decided to take the plunge and try Airbnb for the very first time. After finally deciding on where we were going, we came upon Maria's listing. The photos and accompanying information (she's got a sauna!) made selecting her apartment a "no brainer". The reservation process was quick and easy. Before setting out for the trip, we received a message from Maria inquiring when we expected to arrive. As simple a task as that might seem, it put us Airbnb newbies at ease; confirming she had contact with us and she was preparing for our arrival. Once we did arrive, Maria took time to walk us around the apartment and answer any questions we might have. After a long day of driving, it was nice to relax with a pizza, a few drinks, and some time in the sauna. The next morning, Maria stopped down with freshly baked cookies. Before setting out, we took a short walk around the property. Unfortunately, the weather was not really on our side for that; due to rain and wind, but we still enjoyed it. Maria made our first Airbnb experience relaxing and memorable. If we ever head back through her area again, we wouldn't hesitate to book another night or two.

    Michael2016-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to spend a couple of days -- a spacious apartment with lots of windows looking out on big beautiful gardens. It had everything we needed and Maria was a great host, sending us off with some fresh peas from the garden. Bonuses: playing with the dogs and watching the fireflies at night.

  • Helen is great, super friendly laid back host. Communication was brilliant and she even offered me a lift downtown. Quiet, safe neighbourhood

  • Our stay at Leah's was great. Leah was extremely accommodating. She truly wanted to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, even provided bus, street and bicycling maps and coffee and breakfast snacks. We've stayed at several Air BnBs and this is the only one with a king bed--very comfortable. Having the entire basement was such a luxury, and very private. It has everything but the proverbial kitchen sink.

  • My husband and I had a wonderful experience staying at Leah's home in her spacious basement suite. The king-sized bed is very comfortable, and there is a roomy living area with a TV, dining table, microwave and mini-fridge. Leah arranged for pizza to be ordered in for dinner and helped facilitate a rental car when we ran into a glitch with our original reservation. Leah is a welcome and gracious hostess and we are looking forward to another stay with her when we return to the Madison area.

  • The suite was spacious and comfortable. The location was extremely convenient. Anyone who visits should make it a point to go to the Pheasant Branch Conservancy trail for a nice walk. I enjoy walking, so I was able to walk to a variety of good restaurants. The hosts made sure I had everything I needed, and they made me feel very welcome. I would definitely stay there again.

  • This is a great place to stay! We arrived when the family was gone, and they made sure that we had a way to get inside. The space was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with coffee, tea, and breakfast supplies. I highly recommend this place.

  • The family was very nice and their two little dogs were really cute. The basement suite was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable, with a special leg/foot warmer that I particularly enjoyed. While it is separate, you can hear the family because you are right underneath them and there are no rugs on the first floor, but they did considerately ask me if they were too loud and let me know what time they would be going to bed, which really coincided well with when I was ready to go to sleep. There was a booklet with wifi and TV information for the sitting room, and they were lovely about letting me stay past when they left for work in the morning.

  • This is a very comfortable, kid friendly property. The King Basement Suite was very well equipped, the owners were very accommodating and the location was very good for us.

    Candis2013-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Leah, Gary, and E are perfect hosts, it felt more like staying with family than a hotel or B&B. The bedroom is very large and the bed is so comfortable I had no problem getting a good nights sleep. Can't recommend them enough. Will definitely be booking with them again in the future.

Family home with large master bedroom king size bed, 2nd rm bunk beds, 3rd room queen, 2 Queen bed in basement living room. 2 living rooms 1 up 1 down with tvs and couches, and blow up mattress. Open kitchen to living rm and separate dinning rm with great back yard patio for grilling or fire pit.
Additional Family room with sofa, recliner chair, high top table and chairs, big screen TV Wet Bar and 3 bean bags. Very Kid friendly. Patio has table and chairs, a grill and a fire pit with wood to burn. Dinning room will seat up to 7 with 4 more high chairs in the basement for a larger group. Although I have WiFi I do not have Cable Tv just the local channels and Netflixs and a handful of Vudu Movies.
I have been here for over 4 years and know we have very low crime in the area with well established home owners. I find it very safe and secure as I am raising 3 young boys here with me as well.
  • The house is great, except a little bit far from downtown, but all the things are great. Chris is very helpful, the overall stay is pleasant.

  • Easy check-in, spacious house! Thank you so much -- it was perfect.

    Catherine2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • My family was very pleased with the house and the host. the pictures were very accurate and the accommodations were just what we needed plus more. It is evident that it is a lived in and loved family home due to the pictures and clothing present. We were able to navigate to downtown Madison, and Mt Horeb to enjoy all of the wedding festivities. We were somewhat late due to traffic and Chris was right there to meet us, though he did apprise us where to find the key if he wasn't. His home had everything that you would need to be comfortable, which included a fully stocked kitchen. he even had fresh vegetables! When you rent out your home I imagine there may be some expectation of minimal breakage of which he was very understanding. We did leave remuneration to extend our apology for the damage incurred during our stay. I highly recommend his home.

  • Great location, plenty of beds and great outdoor space

  • We were made to feel very welcome and at home. The description was spot on. Detailed house rules and instructions were provided. The house was very clean located in a quiet neighborhood. I will definitely keep this listing in mind, when visiting Madison in the future.

  • We found this house by chance for our upcoming trip for the CrossFit Games. It was perfect - ample space for us to spread out and have our alone time but also good common areas to enjoy each other's company. Christopher responded quickly by text to each question we had and even let us stay a few extra hours after checkout. Everything was clean and well stocked - just as advertised. Cute personal touches showed that this was indeed a very family friendly place. Perfect!

    Josh2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice time. His house is close to a Walmart to stock up and a little over 10 minute uber ride downtown. This house seems like Chris' full time residence and not a rental property so just keep that in mind. The place was clean but there is limited fridge space. This is the closest house to downtown Madison I could find so I would stay here again. Also, Chris was available via text at a moments notice if you have any issues/questions which is great.

    Joe2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Overall the house was what we needed. A large house with plenty of beds to sleep in. Easy to get ubers to downtown Madison.

Our place is close to restaurants and dining, nightlife, and family-friendly activities. You’ll love our home because of the neighborhood, the comfy bed, the light, and the coziness. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
You will enjoy the use of the entire garden level of living space. This is over 500 square feet with a great room and full bathroom, as well as access to our beautifully landscaped garden.
We live in a quiet neighborhood on the far west side of Madison. The house overlooks a city park and wooded area. West Towne Mall, Point Cinemas, and a variety of restaurants are very close by. You will be able to quickly and easily access the Beltline (Hwy 12/Hwy 18) which is Madison's major travel artery.
  • Greg and Fred's place is even better than advertised! It was comfortable, clean, and homey! Location was perfect! Will definitely come back to stay here next trip!

    Karly2016-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Greg's house was a pleasure. Our stay was in winter weather, so we weren't able to enjoy the patio, but for an indoor experience, it's a very comfortable, private space. And OMG, the library in the apartment! A guest has hundreds of volumes of all categories to enjoy. I wish we had been able to spend more time there to read even a few of them. Location was perfect for car access to stores and our son's house on the west side of Madison.

    William2016-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our time in your Airbnb! We were here for UW-Madison orientation with our son. We loved sipping our morning coffee in those comfy red chairs and looking out at the amazing garden. Thank you!

  • Very polite and helpful host. Very clean house. I strongly recommend it if you want to stay in Madison for a few days.

    Reza2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gregory's apartnent was cozy, stylish, spotless and filled with thoughtful amenities. I couldn't have asked for a more gracious host or more perfect accommodations. The location was also excellent especially since my daughter had to come from Middleton to cart me around. I would recommend Gregory's home to anyone wanting a peaceful and inviting studio apartment. This is the very best Airbnb I have experienced thus far!

    Brenda2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • I was in the area for business and really enjoyed a peaceful evening at Greg and Fred's place. An incredible deal and I'll definitely be looking to stay here when I'm in the area again!

    Kate2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely recommended! Very relaxed and huge space with lots of privacy all for yourself! And coffee, drinks in the fridge and all kinds of other amenities. We enjoyed staying here for the last two days of our vacation.

    Karin2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay. So very nice and comfortable ! We loved the location. Will look forward to staying again. Thank you hospitality, also sharing your beautiful back yard.
