Beautiful lush green landscapes that drop dramatically down to the river. This is ancient Ireland at its best. Slane is a well-known village in Ireland. Thanks to the rock concerts at Slane Castle and now the new whiskey distillery, Slane now has a vibrant food and music culture with restaurants, cafes and bistros as well as great live music pubs. Be sure to book in on a Wednesday night to see the Wednesday Gang open session in Boyle's of Slane and don't forget to book a tour around the new Slane Distillery. We are also only 6km from the UNESCO World Heritage megalithics tombs at Bru Na Boinne (Newgrange) and only 8km from the Battle of the Boyne centre. We also offer kayaking, recreational tree climbing and bike hire to keep you busy while you're here.
  • Just want to echo what all the other reviewers are saying, this place is really awesome. If you do stay here, definitely check out the communal area (kitchen, dining, lounge). It's a really nice place to chill out. Loved meeting all the farm animals too.

  • Amazing place, great for weekend getaway but still close to Slane town center with local pubs and restaurants :)

  • The farm is really lovely. The hosts have made great use of the space. The room was nice and cosy and the communal areas and hot tub made our stay extra special. Within walking distance of the village.

  • Had a pleasant week long stay here with a baby and dog. The Swallow's Nest was very spacious, with room to spare even with a travel cot and large crate. Directions and self check-in was very straightforward. We had fresh eggs from the farm in the morning - very tasty - and met the Dexters and pigs on our walk around. Good information available for things to do in the area although I was mostly visiting family anyway. Would stay again!

  • Really nice place very scenic and rustic, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a break from society, Slane is a really nice place with a lot of nice shops and restaurants.

  • Fantastic and magical place! The Swallow’s Nest was perfect. Cozy and warm and situated with a great view of the farm. The team of folks supporting the farm were super helpful, too. This is a must-stay place if you’re planning on spending time in the area!

  • We had a pleasant stay. The farm is located in a very beautiful valley. The farm offers a lot of equipment to choose from. Regarding our room the decoration is really charming, the bed is very good, so much so that you forget to get up. The products from the farm are exquisite. The team is on top, very responsive. Thank you everyone. There are plenty of unusual places to discover in this valley. We will gladly come back.

Victoria Drummond Tower was built as a Folly Tower in the victorian period in 1858 by Victor Drummond Delap as part of Monasterboice House & Demesne. The tower is regarded as a folly tower built in remembrance of his late mother Victoria Drummond Delap. Recently restored into a small habitable dwelling and is now available for rental for selected months of the year. A very unique and enjoyable place to stay with a vast range of local & historical amenities at your disposal.
Drummond Tower comprises of 4no. floors including a top roof level which guests can enjoy extensive views of the surrounding countryside. The ground floor comprises of a kitchen area with cooking and washing facilities. On the first floor there is a comfortable living room with adequate space to relax and watch TV or read books form the extensive book collection. There are 2no. couches with 1no. being a comfortable double sofa bed. The second floor bedroom is the last of the internal floors which comprises of a queen sized bed with en-suite, shower and washing facilities. One of the great advantages is waking up in the mornings and looking out over the tree tops and the immediate countryside. The top floor level is the external castellated roof terrace. There is 360 degree views of the area and space to enjoy the fine weather. The roof terrace is illuminated so one can access the area during at night to look at the stars
Drummond Tower is situated in the countryside on the Boyne Valley Drive - R168. 5 mins from Monasterboice Round Tower & Melifont Abbey. Newgrange, Dowth, Oldbridge (Battle of the Boyne) and Slane / Collon Village is within 15mins drive. Drogheda is located nearby with shopping, Restaurants and Bars. We would recommend Monasterboice Inn (5 mins drive) with selection of fine food & beverages. Also check out "No. Three" in the local Village of Collon which would be approx 3 miles or visit the lovely village of Slane and have a pint on Boyles Pub
  • Don't book this place. I want to make sure there are no conflicts with my future stays. This was the definition of a dream stay for us. Absolutely everything we wanted in a country castle tower. We will be back as soon as we can!

  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at Drummond Tower. It’s a unique place that is very clean. We used it as our base for exploring the many historic places in the area. Many sites and several towns are within an easy 20 minute drive. I highly recommend staying at Drummond Tower as the price is untreatable for what you get.

    Jeremy2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don't do this location justice. Eanan was quick to respond to my messages, and the directions for how to find and access the tower were very clear. Everything was clean and orderly, and waking up early to watch the sunrise over the surrounding area on the very top floor was magical. I would definitely recommend this place to stay if you are planning to be in Ireland!

    Michelle2020-03-09T00:00:00Z

Rathgillen Lodge is renovated stone cottage from the 1800's. With plenty of character, the living/kitchen has a wood burning stove set into a big hearth. There is a fully fitted kitchen , double bedroom and pull out sofa-bed.
Rathgillen Lodge is situated on a 125-acre working farm and enjoys beautiful views of the countryside. The location is quiet and peaceful and yet is only 1 km from the pretty village of Nobber and 1-hour drive from Dublin and 1 hour from Belfast. Meath is an area of legend of folklore, Vikings & Normans, castles and crosses and lots of monastic ruins to visit. It is also an area for great fishing, beautiful sandy beaches, horse riding and golf. Shops, pubs and restaurants are located nearby. We are situated 10 km from Cabra Castle Hotel and 16 km from Navan Town. The renovated stone cottage has lots of character and has oil central heating , solar panels and a woodburning stove. The accommodation sleeps 2 in the main bedroom with a pull out sofa-bed in the living area offering room for a further 2 people. It is suitable for all needs with wide doors and a wet room bathroom.
The cottage is situated 1 km from Nobber Village
  • Peter is wonderful. If you want a taste of Irish culture (meaning the sort of setting folks traditionally lived in and to meet an awesome local in a rural area), this is a great way to do it. He has put a lot of time and money into shaping up the place so you’ll hardly realize it’s an old cottage from the inside. He loves to share what he knows and he will give his perspective on things as well if you ask! Bakes scones and preps a cuppa when you check in. Friendly dogs on the farm. It’s just up the road from Nobber with a sign when you reach the farm, and he was walking out once we arrived. He also offered boots so we could walk about the farm after encountering him on one of his morning walks. Keogan’s was a good way at night to grab a drink in town and meet locals. Anyway, get off the beaten path and give Peter’s a try! He’s really awesome and I hope he does well in his little business and farm.

    Kayla2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at this roomy historic cottage! The tour of the farm and up to the ringfort was priceless.

    Michael2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Peter welcomed us warmly with a cup of tea. The lodge was perfectly fitted for our trip. I can definitely recommend a stay.

    Roman2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful quiet environment in a traditional house. Very good access to Dublin. Cleanly, quietly, everything available what you need. There was a milk and cake welcome and finally a trip to the farm quad. Thank you very much.

    Mariana2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The stay with Peter was wonderful. We can only join the previous speakers, how warmly we were greeted with pastries and tea (although we only arrived at 11 p.m.), with such dedication and passionate care as he takes care of his guests is just great. A car is definitely needed. The price / performance ratio fits. Some excursions can be made from the accommodation: Newgrade, Belfast, Dublin, Mellifont Abby, Slanecastle. For shopping, we mostly drove to Lidl, 15 minutes away. We will come back in any case.

    Victoria2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great little getaway spot just a couple minutes outside the village of Nobber, we had a great time here. The lodge was clean and homely, with a lovely warm fire. Peter was extremely welcoming and we had a great chat upon arrival, with added scones! Would absolutely return in future.

  • Warm welcome with tea and homemade scones and a chat about the facilities and local area.House was spotless, really warm and the wood burning stove made our stay even more cosy.If you want a quiet and peaceful place to relax and recharge then this is the space.

Hatch's Castle has many beautiful features including the Dome Hall, the original spiral staircase, and a wonderfully restored drawing room on the first floor, where you can sit down and relax. We're situated in the lovely town Ardee, which is surrounded by many historic places such as the Jumping Church and Newgrange. There are few restaurants around Ardee and several shops. You can find out more on my Face book page Hatchs Castle.
Walking inside Hatch's castle on the Main Street of Ardee is a feeling of space and tranquility. From that moment you know you have entered a castle that is waiting to be explored. There are four floors, each boasting character and an ambiance of true charm and comfort. Ground floor entrance hall with dome ceiling is also used as a dinning room. The 1st floor has the drawing room with an open fire. Here you can help yourself to a drink, relax, read and unwind. Breakfast can be served here in the large window over looking the Main Street. The 2nd and 3rd floor have a bedroom and private bathroom each. It is possible to see Ardee and its surrounding countryside from the roof. There is a cobble stone yard to sit in and a walled garden to enjoy during the summer months.
Ardee has been a wonderful place to be brought up. Everyone is so friendly and I have to say, I can get everything I need here. Sometimes I realised days have gone by and I never moved the car..! I walk along the old railway and up to the jumping church, great bike rides over the bog, where they cut the turf. Nice tea shops, clothes shop, restaurants and lively Irish pubs. Everyone knows everyone in a simple kind of way.
  • This is a unique stay in an actual castle squashed into a row of buildings right in the middle of Ardee! I stayed in the William suite with a room and bathroom down a private hall up a fairly tightly spiraled staircase - carry-on size or daybag luggage recommended. The room did seem to get a little cool in the morning - but it’s a stone castle in February and not unexpected. The room stayed dark with optional indoor shutters and curtains. The bathroom featured a separate soaking tub, rainfall shower and an unexpected toilet room space. The drawing room was inviting and comfortable with excellent WiFi connections. Hands down, the best part was the visit to the top of the turret! Keep going up the spiral staircase, through a fairly small door, a bit further and then you have a turret-top view of the village! Such fun!

    Grace2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely stay at the castle!! Amazing hospitality with breakfast food provided, and games to play! The views from the top of the castle are lovely, would definitely recommend a visit! Would recommend having a car to get around and visit local places though :) overall, lovely stay!! Five stars!!!! :)

  • Nikki's castle is magical. If you are searching for a real castle where to sleep in, this is perfect. Everything is perfect, every detail is there for a reason and everything is super authentic. We loved to stay there for a night and Ardee is lovely too. Best castle ever!

  • Despite the cancellation of the stay following the Coronavirus, Gerry kept us informed of the situation and was very pleasant and understanding. Without a doubt when we go to Ireland, if the accommodation is available we will contact him again

    Camille2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Gerry is such a sweet and polite man. His house is very clean and he makes sure you have a nice stay.

  • Great place and convenient to the airport. The Centra on the east side of the village has great prepared meals for cheap if you don't feel like eating out.

    Geoffrey2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and comfortable space. Was just a stop-over for us, but it served our needs perfectly. Gerry is considerate and respectful, who went the extra mile to make sure we found the place and felt welcome and relaxed.

    Josh2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Gerry's place for one night. The room was very cozy and everything sparkling clean. Gerry was such a pleasant host, very attentive and polite, too bad we couldn't enjoy a bit longer his company. We'll consider returning given the opportunity.

    Pedro2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Gerry was really nice, everything was perfect and clean. Had three quiet nights at his house. Would love to come back soon!

  • Super place, would be very happy to stay again. Lovely warm room, comfy bed and good shower. And Gerry is a really nice, friendly guy. Good value too ... Highly recommended :)

    Darragh2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Gerry's airbnb has been unbeatable, very friendly and hospitable. It helped us in everything, very good communication. We arrived very late due to delays of our temporary flight and he waited for us and received us. He kindly offered us the use of his kitchen. Your untouched house, both the room and the bathroom that we have used identical to the photographs and incredible cleanliness, comfort and detail.

This is a traditional style Mongolian yurt with ash frame and canvas cover. The space has 1 double bed and 2 single beds suitable for a family of 4. The yurt includes large wood-fired stove, electric heater, reading lamp with wireless charger, additional furnishings, lanterns, fairy lights, crisp white linen, bath towels and Hand Made Soap Company toiletries. Holly is fondly known to regulars as the "Back Stage" yurt as it offers unique views of the infamous Concert Field and Backstage area below Slane Castle. Enjoy breakfast on the veranda or just watch the sunset behind the castle as you plan your next day of adventures. There's a BBQ, wood-fired hot tub, clay pizza oven and self-catering organic food packs with ingredients from the farm.
We're on the Slane Castle estate close to the historic village of Slane and Bru Na Boinne (UNESCO ). There are great views across the River Boyne and the surrounding country. We have great family-friendly activities and good dining options on and off the farm. You’ll love my place because of the location, facilities, space & views. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (+ kids).
Rock Farm Slane is set in the heart of the Slane Castle estate in the centre of the Boyne Valley on the banks of the River Boyne. The Glamping is located in a parkland area of outstanding natural beauty with views of Slane Castle and the wider Boyne Valley. There are lots of historical and local attractions close by, but most guests end up staying more time than anticipated hanging out in the Glamping or on the wider organic farm. Slane is one of the best know heritage villages in Ireland. We also offer kayaking and electric bike hire to keep you busy while you're here.

  • Adventuring to Ireland for the first time ever, all the way from Texas, U.S, was quite an experience and it was all made possible with the assistance from this host (Peter)! He showed us exceptional hospitality, friendliness while remaining genuine, local tips and advice on where to travel, a lovely air bnb, and so much more. My significant other and I adjusted right away to the “tiny home” vibe and it was perfect for us. We are from the big city within Texas but we have small town roots and this location and scenery was just what we needed to get away. The level of comfort and ease that we felt was present every day that we stayed at our temporary home in Ireland! The finishing touches on the air bnb were pleasant, such as hot water being hot/cold water being cold, beautiful decor, great appliances + light fixtures, and ease of access to location + feeling secure/safe throughout our stay. We would definitely recommend this host to anyone who is itching to get away and escape to a secluded, gorgeous, and humble destination. The location is about 30 minutes N. from the Dublin airport, and while having the effect of “off the beaten path”, this air bnb is not far from any pubs, grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, and attractions. Not once did we feel out of place and we hope to return and experience Ireland all over again :-)

  • Peter’s place was fantastic. It was very easy to find and check in was very smooth. Peter was available if we needed him but also left us do our own thing. The accommodation is very clean and furnished very nicely. Peter lit the stove before our arrival which meant the container was lovely and warm for our stay. We would certainly stay again if we had the opportunity.

  • Siobhan's place is like a hidden gem in the countryside. Just an hour from Dublin city you will find yourself totally immersed in mother nature - organic vegetable farm, beautiful green scenery and surrounded by animals. I booked a massage from Siobhan at very last minute and she was so accommodating. The massage was definitely a highlight, I felt totally being looked after - physically as well as spiritually. Then, Siobhan's mom walked me through their organic farm where there is so much variety of vegetables and herbs, you name it they have it. You will get to eat whatever is in season - without any nasty pesticides! The room itself is sparkling clean, the kitchen is a communal area where you get to interact with different guests from different places. Lastly, if these wouldn't convince you to have a stay, I don't know what will.

    Mable2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I can highly recommend this place! Siobhan and her family are very kind and lovely people. They were extremely helpful and really made me feel at home. Their place is quietly located, in a beautiful area surrounded by nature. It's the ideal spot to just kick back, relax and enjoy the amazing scenery. I will definitely return again in the future!

Nice location, very quiet and yet very close to some really nice attractions such as newgrange, mellifont Abbey, and others which I didn't get to. Very close to Drogheda town and yet it feels like you're in rural Ireland. The suite itself was very nicely laid out and spotlessly clean. There's also lots of books and a lovely couch to relax on. Would recommend to anyone travelling to this area. 10/10

A Romantic Retreat -Tastefully converted stone barn with views of 13th C. Abbey ruins & mature garden. Ideal location for touring east coast and Dublin (Airport 30min). Mezzanine bedroom overlooking the open plan living area & wood burning stove.
This barn was converted by the owner in 2008 into a comfortable and inviting open plan living area & kitchen with a mezzanine double bedroom. Exposed stone walls and oak beams are complemented by luxurious furnishings and a cosy wood burning stove. The kitchen / dining area is equipped with gas hob, 3 in 1 Microwave / grill / convection oven, fridge with ice box and is sufficiently well-equipped to please the keen cook. There is a wet room-style shower room and wc. The living area is snug and cosy with a comfortable couch, wood burning stove and an array of interesting and unusual books on the history, flora and fauna of Ireland. A small staircase leads up to the mezzanine bedroom with comfy double bed, clothes storage and excellent views across the garden and countryside beyond. This is a really romantic location - so much so that we have had more than ten honeymooning couples stay here and even two proposals (successful ones!) The accommodation is suitable for up to two adults. Babies are welcome but please note that the barn is not suitable for toddlers or small children due to the steep staircase and wood burning stove. We have been welcoming guests since 2008.
Ardcath is a tiny, quiet village in County Meath, near the border to County Dublin. The village pub is a three minute walk away and is full of character. It hosts an informal traditional Irish music session every Thursday night and guests are welcome, even encouraged, to play or sing. The musicians will even provide you with a musical instrument! Convenience stores are a 5 minute drive. A selection of restaurants in nearby villages - Kilmoon (4 miles), Stamullen (5 miles), Duleek (4 miles) - and in the local large town of Drogheda (10 miles) provide a wide range of menus to suit all tastes. This is an excellent location for touring both Dublin city (50mins drive) and the east coast. The Boyne Valley, Newgrange heritage site and the Hill of Tara are within 20mins drive, as are the beaches of Bettystown and Gormanston. Enjoy any one of a dozen excellent golf courses within 20 miles, as well as horse racing at nearby Bellewstown, Fairyhouse or on the strand at Laytown. Our guests have enjoyed day trips to Wicklow (the Garden of Ireland), the Giants Causeway in Co. Antrim, Carlingford in Co. Louth. Check out hill walking in the Cooley Mountains and exploring the castle ruins in the heritage town of Trim, among many others. Excellent restaurants, cafes and shopping are available in medieval Drogheda, modern Ashbourne, Skerries and Bettystown which are all a 20 min car journey.
  • If you're looking for a unique and cozy spot in the countryside of Ireland, book this cottage now. It's about a half-hour outside of Dublin and was close to the train station. The cottage was adorable and had everything from a sewing kit to extra USB outlet adapters to slippers. We visited Ireland in the colder months, but the woodburning heater and extra space heater kept us very warm. Colm was a fantastic host and even had the fire going when we arrived at the cottage. Bennets Bar was right across the street and everyone there was just as gracious as Colm. If I ever visit Ireland again, I would definitely stay at Colm's place.

    Natalie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly unique location. It is very much in Ireland’s countryside which gives a great feeling. The cottage itself was very well kept and well stocked with everything you’ll need for a stay. If staying in the colder months do be prepared to lite the fire to warm the place up when you return to the cottage. There is really no other heat source. Again, this is something I felt very unique. The Ireland countryside roads can be a challenge if you come from North America. Just be prepared before you rent a car and take to the roads. Being in the countryside you will need to travel down some dark, small winding roads! I would highly recommend for a couple looking for a more romantic and quiet getaway!

    Shane2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Colm is a gentleman. He has created a very unique oasis in this cosy cottage, with everything you could possibly need. We spent 4 chilled out days here and explored the surrounding countryside including newgrange. We'd highly recommend for a romantic getaway!

    Dorothy2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I just checked out of Colm’s place today, and we’re sad to go! The pace itself is unbelievably charming, with everything you need. The bed is comfortable and the water is always hot! (Helpful when you’re a Floridian and visiting this time of year) It is close enough to drive into the city center, but also get a feel for the Irish countryside. The cottage itself is about a 30 second walk to a pub, what’s better than that! The pub has great Guinness and a lot of welcoming faces. Our absolute favorite part of our stay was Colm himself. He welcomed us with great hospitality. We learned a lot from him during our stay and even shared a few pints! I would recommend this Airbnb to everyone coming to the area. Dublin curry is great, but this is Ireland! We hope to return in the future!

    Mel2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Stop searching, this is the cutest Airbnb in the world. Loved every minute of our stay over Christmas. The perfect hideaway from the world!

    Caitlin2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Crows’ Hermitage was fantastic! Colm was very friendly and always quick to help. Trad night at Bennett’s pub was a great time and a fun surprise when Colm joined in! Ardcath is a perfect home base for exploring many cultural sites of Ireland, including many castles! Though the kitchen is small, the basics are covered. We whole heartedly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a unique Ireland experience!

    Sean2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, remote but with the added bonus of a pub a stones throw away. Sunday was a proper treat at the pub with a folk ‘jam night’. Loved the log burner, such a quirky place.

  • Thomas is a really super nice and very attentive host. The independent checkin worked without any problems. Apparently there was water damage, so it was a bit messy, which didn't bother us as we were only there for one night. We got a bigger room than booked and Thomas makes a lot of effort. The rooms are spartan but clean. The two dogs are absolutely great. The location is good, we were there by car, which is why we cannot say anything about the connection to the public transport network. Thank you very much Thomas for the funny stay

    Kathy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Thomas place :) The room was small but very cozy and we met other travellers to talk to. Thomas is a friendly and kind host, he answered all our questions and was always there to help. The two dogs are super cute, though they might try to steal your food ;)

  • Thomas was a GREAT host and really went above and beyond! He had great communication and was close to the airport. He let me drop off my bags early, and I showed up with wet clothes from washing them the night before, and he dried, folded and put them in my room for me! In the morning I was having trouble getting a cab, so he tried to call one for me, but there were none available, so he personally gave me a lift to the post office to lighten my load for my trip home!! Stand up guy with quick responses and will do what he can to make your trip as easy as possible. Would definitely stay again!!

Over the years my cottage has been popular with guests attending local wedding venues, Ballymagarvey, The Mill House, Tankardstown and Bellinter House. All around 10 minutes away. I have also enjoyed hosting tourists from all over the world who come to see Meath's many historic sites and beautiful countryside.. Only 45 minutes from Dublin city centre and 35 minutes from Dublin airport. The cottage annex also has it's own private area of the garden. It is the perfect size for a couple.
I love my country cottage and garden. I also love that it is only 10 minutes from Tara and 15 from Newgrange. Slane and it's many interesting places including the wonderful new Whiskey distillery is less than 10 minutes away, and the nearest large town of Navan is 10 minutes. It is a peaceful retreat but Dublin airport is only 35 minutes away!.
  • Fab little place, immaculately presented. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Fab host, so helpful. Thank you 😊

  • Stayed for the night as had a wedding in Ballymagarvey. Perfect location, very clean, beautiful furnishings and great host. Would highly recommend a stay!

    Megan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly what we needed and so prompt with responses. Most comfortable sheets I've ever slept in and an extra heater in the room incase it got cold. Tea and coffee in the kitchenette and there was even milk left in the fridge for us. Nice peaceful location with parking.

  • Lovely place with very friendly and helpful hosts.

  • Thank you for kindness and considerate. Fresh air and nice home. Prepared bread to take and milk. Kitchen is small but enough. Nice stay

  • Fiona's place is a lovely bolt hole surrounded by a garden. It is in a rural setting yet so close to Slane, Navan and only 40 minutes to Dublin. It is spotless and has a super comfy bed for a restful night's sleep. We visited for a wedding and Fiona could not have been more helpful in making sure we enjoyed our stay with local recommendations of places to visit and to eat. I would not hesitate in recommending Fiona's place.

    Anita2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Fiona sets the highest standard that other hosts should endeavor to meet. My 19 year old daughter traveled alone to Ireland for an equestrian competition and stayed at Fiona’s adorable cottage for the weekend. Fiona went above and beyond as her host...offering her rides to the barn when she was unable to secure early morning taxis and bringing her homemade soup on her arrival on a chilly day. Perfect accommodation and unsurpassed hospitality and kindness. Thank you, Fiona, for everything!

    Steven2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely annex with everything you need in the beautiful countryside. Lots of thoughtful touches and sparkling clean. Fiona was excellent at communication and very accommodating, even bringing me over some nail varnish remover when I’d forgotten mine. Definitely recommend!

An Lochta is a converted , two story, 19th century grain store, surrounded by a mature and carefully tended garden on a small farm, set in the idyllic rustic peace and quiet of rural Co Meath. Despite our seclusion, we are just 10 minutes from the M1 motorway, 1 hour from Dublin and within easy reach of the major historical sites of Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. (Unfortunately the layout of the building renders it unsuitable for wheelchair users).
You will be greeted with a warm welcome to our extremely well appointed and wonderfully cosy old world charm house in the most relaxing of environments. Enjoy our freshly home baked Irish farmhouse bread and our delicious marmalade, eggs from our own hens (when the hens are laying which is most of the time) and we provide you with tea, coffee, milk and butter and some vegetables if you wish, when in season. (Unfortunately the layout of our building renders it unsuitable for wheelchair users)
We are located in the very top corner of County Meath, 12 minutes drive from Ardee, Kingscourt and Carrickmacross. It's said locally that the roar of an ass can be heard in four counties, Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan such is our proximity to each. If relaxation is what you seek we have a beautiful garden where you may take a leisurely stroll or wander our small farm. Our roads are narrow and quiet ideal for walking with lane ways, lakes and forest tracks within easy reach.(Dun na Ri forest park and Lough an Lea both being well worth a visit). We are well served with interesting pubs and eateries, Tankardstown House, a very fine restaurant is 20 minutes away. Closer by, The Cross Guns, a gastro pub in Nobber, The Wishing Well in Kingscourt and The Courthouse in Carrickmacross are all worthy of mention. If ancient culture is your interest, we are surrounded by ring forts standing stones and more recent medieval history. The views, from some of the ring forts especially, are stunning with the patchwork of tidy fields and vistas of the Cooley Mountains. For those with an interest in music, there are trad sessions in Kingscourt and Ardee (Sunday's and Thursday's), folk and bluegrass also in Ardee on Thursdays and many pubs offer live weekend music. Whatever your taste may be, you will receive a warm welcome in An Lochta.
  • This is one of the best AirBnbs we've visited over the past couple years traveling almost full-time. The space is rustic but cozy and provided the exact Irish country experience anyone could want. It's worth noting that the wifi could be challenging at times and so not practical for work conference call purposes - email was fine. We used this space as a launch pad to the many surrounding attractions. Simon and Natasha are incredible hosts and made us feel most welcome and cared for.

    Jim2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic 2-night stay in Simon and Natasha's place. Our hosts was incredibly welcoming, providing freshly baked bread and homemade marmalade (there would also have been eggs but the poor chickens were caught by foxes). The home itself is beside Simon and Natasha's beautiful garden, which is in the middle of gorgeous countryside. The accommodation itself was very comfortable, well-equipped, and really nicely decorated. There are great local pubs in the area, and there are heaps of archaeological and historical sites to see - Simon suggested visiting the local Jumping Church which was a great tip. If we're visiting the area again we'll definitely stay here again. Thanks for a lovely stay!

    Jonathan2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Simon and Natasha’s space! They were kind, warm, and incredibly welcoming and helpful hosts. The space and property are beautiful with great access to the historic sites of eastern Ireland. We would highly recommend their space to anyone traveling to Ireland!

    Jessica2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The little cottage is so cute so smartly set up and very clean and the property is very peaceful a lot of nature around it it’s kind of like having your own little cottage. Simon and Natasha are so nice and warm and welcoming they even have fresh baked brown bread on your arrival and they give you eggs when they have extra from the chickens. You’re able to cook in your own little kitchen to save some money and they have a washing machine and they will dry it for you, in their dryer which was so nice. We had such a nice time we were visiting family and friends nearby. We would highly recommend them.

    Marie-Ann2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and obliging. The home made marmalade and freshly baked bread were a special touch. The cottage was a great space, spotlessly clean and was perfect for the get away my partner and I were looking for. We will be back.

    Clark2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Such a gorgeous place for a short break away. Cosy, comfortable and an exceptional welcome! I would definitely recommend a stay here and I will be back at some stage for another break

  • We absolutely loved our stay at An Lochta. Simon and Natasha are fantastic hosts, they went above and beyond during our stay and made our trip to Ireland very special. Brilliant local area recommendations too to places we would never have found. Such a sweet little cottage - all the amenities that you need in the most beautiful of Irish countryside. Thanks for having us! X

  • Jolanta was a delightful host. Her place was warm, welcoming, quiet and spotless. and just up the road from a lively pub restaurant with good food and atmosphere. She was there when we arrived and check in was easy. We all had a very nice chat and then we headed out to meet family in the city. Before our stay we had a small problem with our trip and Jolanta was able to find a very easy solution and went out of her way to help us sort it out. I'd highly recommend staying with her when visiting the area. Liam & Mo

  • Claudia and Dany’s place was so cool! It was private, squeaky clean, had everything we needed, and felt like home. The location is also prime because it’s so close to the city - literally minutes away. I guarantee anyone visiting Dublin will be very pleased to stay here. I’ll definitely be coming back!

    Mario2020-03-13T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely apartment on a nice place, not really far from the city. Very happy with this visit! Recommend.

  • Perfect formed little studio for 2. Cooking facilities were great for small meals and snacks. The weather was cold and wet during our stay but we were lovely and warm inside. Location was great for us. We didn't want to be in the busy centre. Nearby there is a supermarket and some take away options and a bus service that takes you into Dublin centre in approx 25 minutes. The best part was Claudia and Dany's hospitality! We could not fault it. Quick responses and they really made us feel welcome.

    Emma2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia & Dany were brilliant hosts and made us feel really welcome. The place is really nicely done out and suited us perfectly for two nights. It was spotlessly clean and everything was as it was advertised. Claudia also came and picked us up from the airport which was a great help and was also really quick at responding to any questions. Would definitely recommend!

    Esther2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wish we had given ourselves more time to explore the area around this cute cottage stay. The cottage itself was tricky to find in the dark but Mark's instructions were invaluable and he always responded really quickly! Nice touches like milk, bread and eggs very much appreciated. Suggest taking some DVDs if you like a quiet night in, on the cosy sofas with the electric fire on as TV signal intermittent (no fault of the host of course!) Hot tub really enjoyable and Mark quick to come pop it on for us.

  • We stayed at Glebe cottage for 3 nights. Mark's attention to detail via message before our arrival provided the information we needed for a hassle free check-in. On arrival, milk, bread and eggs were left for us which was a pleasant surprise. The cottage had everything we needed and we couldn't have asked for a more peaceful and laid back stay. The hot tub was our main reason for booking Glebe cottage and it did not disappoint. Thank-you Mark and family, we will definitely be back!

Pine is one of our sweet Shepherd Huts. It has been traditionally designed and has a beautifully crafted interior. Boasting a kingsize bed it creates a cosy and romantic space perfect for two people or couple sharing.
This is a beautifully crafted Shepherd's Hut (wagon on wheels used by shepherds and railway signalmen in times gone by). Pine has its own small but highly efficient stove with a continual supply of eco-firelighters, kindling and firewood to keep you super cosy. We will help you light your fires and keep you warm with plenty of wood during your stay. Pine is located on our secluded woodland hideaway Glamping area with its own communal facilities (kitchen, showers, toilets and seating areas). In Winter Pine is moved to a more sheltered location by the main Glamping facilities and shares the whole Glamping field overlooking Slane Castle with just one other shepherd's hut Apple. This Glamping area also has a BBQ, wood-fired hot tub and clay pizza oven. So don't forget to order our self-catering pizza packs and BBQ meat packs with ingredients from our organic farm.
Slane is one of the best known heritage villages in Ireland.
  • Beautiful scenery and great hospitality. A very welcoming and cozy place, would definitely recommend :)

    Holly2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time staying at Rock Farm and I already can't wait for the next time. The weather was incredibly cold but it's hard to believe that the hut is a snug as it is inside. Apart from the fires, there are electric heaters and hot water bottles, if you're visiting in the winter. We spent lots of time in the communal living area. Unfortunately one of us was ill for the whole stay so we couldn't do much but it was actually lovely to stay warm and read and recuperate. Niamh very kindly dropped us into town, knowing that one of us was unwell, to save us a blustery walk. Definitely recommend a trip to the distillery and castle and nearby restaurant Inside Out, which was delicious. Don't forget your wellies and your books and enough wine and you'll have a beautiful stay! Thanks so much again Carina, Niamh, Rachel et al! x

    Catherine2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Rock Farm Slane was wonderful and so much better than we ever could have expected. The hut itself is lovely – very cozy and way bigger than it appears in the photos (one of us is 6'3"). The campsite is also amazing, with everything you could possibility need within a few metres. We ordered both the breakfast and pizza packs, which saved us time and hassle of going shopping before arriving. The food provided was super fresh and we were pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes. We especially loved the hot tub, the pizza oven, and having the ability to walk around the farm to visit the animals. The location is fantastic, as well – only a five minute drive to Slane Castle and the Distillery. We highly recommend staying here if you can. We're already planning a trip back in summer :)

    Ayla2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is actually the most perfect place is so relaxing with all the animals around pheasants grouse and squirrels the hot tub in the trees with the fairy lights over it and candles everything was so beautiful the walk is so relaxing and the view of the castle is lovely this place really exceeded all my expectations and I can't wait to come back again ❤️❤️

This large two bedroom semi-detached bungalow is located in Naul, North County Dublin (Google "Ireland's Ancient East") just 5 minutes (by car) from the M1 motorway Dublin to Belfast corridor. It is close to the historical and scenic Counties of Meath and Louth. As well as it being just 15 to 20 minutes (by car) to Dublin airport, it is also close to beaches, golf clubs, riding stables, and public parks. Although not essential, a car is recommended.
The bungalow is a modern country design. It is bright, very spacious and open plan. Outside tables on chairs will allow you to relax and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of Dublin and the Dublin Mountains. There is a fully fitted kitchen area with a fridge/freezer, a cooker with oven and a grill, a microwave oven. There is a very large sitting room with plenty of space and seating and a real fire to add atmosphere. Although the bungalow is self-catering some breakfast items – including bread, milk, butter, jam, cereals, tea, coffee – will be provided.
There is a 10 minute walk from the bungalow to the very quaint Naul village. In the village there is a small supermarket, Killian's public house and the Seamus Ennis Arts Centre which has a restaurant and live music. Finding a small rural village so close (only a 20 minute drive) from a Capital City is rare.
  • Evelyn's house is located in the countryside with spectacular scenery. We have felt very comfortable, it is a spacious house and is close to Dublin airport. Evelyn is a great hostess I recommend this accommodation to other guests.

  • Super amazing place to stay but if you want to go into the city you may want to rent a car for easy and cheaper travel.

    Christopher2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful home! Perfect if you’re looking for a place around the airport. It’s about a 20-30 minute drive to and from the airport, depending on traffic. It’s really beautiful countryside and very quiet. Evelyn was super responsive and helpful! Very clean and comfortable, highly recommend! Thank you again!

    Rebecca2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location close to Dublin airport, and Evelyn even left us breakfast! Super clean, cosy and warm, great place to stay.

    Emma2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Nice house. We got everything we need. Bigger than we expected. And Evelyn is very helpful.

    Cicy2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Evelyn's place is one of those good surprise when you arrive in an airbnb. The place is spaceous, with a classy and tasteful decoration. And quiet. Evelyn was a delight and very accomodating. We were staying just for the night so we didn't have time to visit around, but we definitively be back this spring if we can.

  • This place was possibly the most beautiful place that we ever stayed at. The scenery, country side, sunrises, coziness, and locals made the whole experience spectacular! We will visit again one day because of this stay. Thank you Stephen for your 5 star hospitality.
