  • Richard was very welcoming and provided us with a book of information on how to reach him if we needed anything; as well as WiFi password and our security code. Our unit was very clean and fit two people comfortable. We were their in winter but the scenery was still very beautiful even the lake right behind our lodge looked pretty all frozen over. Being at the lake was an inspiring experience seeing the mountains in the close distance and the forest near by; with only the sound of our hearts beating and the wind whipping through the area put into perspective the remoteness of it all and made us feel more connected to the earth. Being at the lake in the evening and catching a small break in the snow fall to gaze at the night sky was amazing there were stars for miles and miles. We also enjoyed winter activities at Mount Bohemia which was a short 5 minute drive from the lodge. We took a very scenic drive up to Copper Harbor and then over to Eagle Harbor to visit a light house that was on lake superior which provided a a fantastic view; while on this drive we also saw a couple different types of birds and white tailed deer. We sadly missed seeing the Northern lights by a couple of days but we still had a great time. I would diffidently recommend staying at the wilderness lodge and visiting this area of Michigan. We are planing on making another trip back up to the Upper Peninsula in the near future during the Autumn time of the year.

  • This cabin is super clean and comfortable. Close to everything. The host is really nice. The WiFi works great. Beds are comfortable. We would stay here again.

  • We have a great stay there. The host couple is super nice and kind. We had a serious delay due the US-2 road closure that day, and they waited us till we arrived. They gave us lots of useful information. The room is super clean and tidy, very new and quiet. We went to get some food and came back late, and found out lots of mayflies on the door. We forgot to turn off the light on the door. We really did not want to disturb the host, coz it was so late, but we did not know what to do. So we called the host, and he came very fast to help us to get them away. We were very thankful. Highly recommend this place if you want to experience the true wilderness.

  • The cabin was pristine. The location was so quiet and put you right in the wilderness. It was minutes from the lake and trails. Only a short trip to Copper Harbor. It was perfect for my husband and I. We loved the cabin and had a great stay!

  • Great unit!

    Lori2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • These units have a cabin-like exterior with a hotel-like feel. My unit was very clean and smelled amazing (I think from the pinewood). The location was more secluded, but that's exactly what I'd been looking for. Plus, Lac La Belle was a very short walk away. Rick was so friendly and my friend and I both felt so welcomed. Highly recommend! Hope to stay again in the future!

Easy to get to, location was great. The bonfire area was nice you could see all the stars! View of Mt. Bohemia was really cool to see as well. Not a far drive to Copper Harbor and Houghton. The Restaurant down the road has delicious food, we went 2 nights in a row. The cabin is pet friendly which was nice because we take the dog everywhere we go! Overall great stay!!!

  • This was a fantastic value and a great place to stay when I needed a place for five to stay during Career Fair week when everywhere near Michigan Tech was full. Steve was very responsive when we had a shower draining issue (which was resolved). I would definitely stay there again.

    Colin2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We felt right at home here. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and Steve goes the extra mile to make it so. There were even informational brochures for the area which we found very helpful. The kitchen had all the items we needed to whip up meals, including spices. Enjoying the view and peacefulness from the back screened-in porch was our favorite part.

    Alicia2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's cabin on the lake was a very nice stay for my family and me. Steve was very responsive and had the lights on for us upon arrival. Very scenic and peaceful place, located deep in Michigan's U.P. We enjoyed being amongst the cedar trees and had a couples of bonfires too. Steve even shared some Halloween candy with us :-) great host and place to stay!

  • Quaint, scenic space with the nicest of hosts. The photos don't do the space justice--it is very cozy, clean and comfortable! We enjoyed being able to stroll down the street to Bare Belly's for dinner and loved the beautiful, scenic drive to Copper Harbor. We stayed 3 nights and are already talking about visiting again next summer. Thank you, Rich and Michelle!

  • What a clean wonderful place. Water access for a canoe. Great trails to hike on. Enjoyed our stay.

  • We rented the cabin for 4 adults and 2 dogs. The resort is well looked after in general and the cabin was comfortable, very clean, and supplied with all basic kitchen needs. The bathroom was spotless, and there's plenty of storage around the cabin for all traveling needs and luggage. Rich is quick to respond to communication, and very pleasant to work with. The location is great as well, a short scenic drive to Copper Harbor and other interesting places. We had a great time!

  • Richard and his wife were welcoming, thoughtful and overall very nice. The cabin was better than expected and we look forward to staying there in the future.

  • Great place! Walking distance to Bear Belly bar and restaurant. Clean and comfortable. Hot weather when we visited. Was very glad there was an air conditioner. WIFI free. Would have liked AC on when we arrived, was 83 inside the house. A couple other minor things would be to have a roll of paper towels included and some furniture for the spacious outdoor deck. Nice communal fire pit which we enjoyed! A great stay, would definitely recommend to others and would stay here again.

  • Our stay at Wilderness Resorts was very nice. Richard was very accommodating and a great host. The unit was neat and clean and comfortable. It had everything you could need. • Small, clean and comfortable. Walk to Eagle Harbor light house for great views of sunset or to beach for swimming.

    James2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location on the driveway to the lighthouse and the deck that provided a spectacular view of both the sunset and the freighters! Walkable to the Eagle Harbor Inn with delicious, reasonably priced food and local beer selection. Cottage was furnished with all the details including fresh towels and cinnamon for the coffee! The cottages were extremely close together however and the washer and dryer were not in the cottage--the size was much smaller than expected. The location trumped all!

Centrally located in picturesque Eagle Harbor, perfect for any season is our extremely spacious, lovely 4 bedroom home. Steps to the sandy beach, surrounded by gorgeous fall colors & fabulous snow mobile trails. All the comforts of home.
This has been our family vacation home for generations and you will absolutely enjoy all the comforts of a home as well as lots of local art, most done by my Dad. It's pretty impressive and just a wonderful location, area and home.
This community of homes is so special. Lots of beaches, rocky shoreline to explore, tons of history, and wonderful people and nature.
  • This is a beautiful house in a perfect location for quiet, peaceful recreation. I loved taking my coffee every morning on the front porch, watching the sun rise and seeing the sleepy little town come to life. The area was great, exactly the get-away from the busy daily grind that we needed. Being out of range of our cellular carrier was a bit hard to get used to, but we had been forewarned of that, and it was one of the reasons we choose this location. The antique character of the house is warm, inviting and reminds me of days at my grandparents in my youth. The age and decor of this property really made it like stepping back in time, but not so far back that it was uncomfortable or inconvenient. The master bedroom suite was wonderfully separated from the bulk of the house and though not exactly modern, it was proper and spacious. The kitchen was new enough for me to cook proper meals, and everything worked well. The back patio was perfect for relaxing in the evening. The children were very happy with the upstairs bedrooms, they had plenty of room and were comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and welcoming. The local people were all very outgoing and fun to talk to. For us, this property was a win. A very positive experience and we are very likely to return.

    chengziwei2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you know Eagle Harbor, this house is in the perfect spot. Right off the highway so easy to find and there is both street and driveway parking available so there is no worry about not having somewhere to put your car. Steps from the beach and a short walk to the ballyard and the Eagle Harbor Inn. Plenty of bedroom and living space, though there are only two bathrooms in the unit. One upstairs shared by three bedrooms, and one downstairs inside the 4th bedroom. Not a major issue, but be aware that there is not a "public" bathroom on the 1st floor. There is a great enclosed porch on the front of the house that's perfect at any point in the day to read or chat or just people-watch. There's also a nice deck on the back of the house which gets plenty of sun. We had a great time while there and definitely recommend this place.

    Shannon2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very nice and it is clean and spacious . It has everything you might need including a nice deck in back an a porch. The location is excellent with the beach and bay just across the street. All in all an excellent place to stay.

  • We love to do road trips and this year we decided to do the U.P. I can honestly say that Da Beach was by far the best place we have stayed...ever. It has everything you could ever want or need plus the area is beautiful. Don't even like to write reviews but I had to because we had an amazing time.

This beautifully restored classic wooden Chris Craft Motor yacht surrounded by nature offers a unique lodging experience. The boat is located at the Copper Harbor marina only 0.7 miles from the center of town (15 minute walk). You can also hop on the Hunter's Point trail head right there at the dock to explore a boreal forest and the wave-washed shoreline of Lake Superior.
Our boat is at a public marina with separate men and woman's bathrooms / shower facilities on shore. There is also a head (porta-potti) on the boat for late night "number 1's" only, please! There is no running water on the boat, but water tanks for washing hands, dishes etc is available. Of course, there are no laundry facilities on the boat but there is a laundromat a mere two blocks from the marina.
Copper Harbor, a quaint village with easy access to excellent hiking and world class mountain biking trails. Copper Harbor has 6 restaurants, fresh/smoked fish, bakery, gift shops and galleries, guided kayaking / mountain biking, historic Mountain Lodge with nine hole golf course, Fort Wilkins State Park and of course, Lake Superior!
  • It was really an enjoyable day and evening in Copper Harbor and staying on this renovated yauht t was a bucket list vacation for me the other guests in the marina we're just wonderful to spend time with and very welcoming and it was just a really nice experience overall I would recommend it if you're looking for a unique destination and accommodation

    Jo 2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The boat is an elegant, classic, beauty! Steve and Erika made sure we had everything we would need and communication was great!

    Emily2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Located in a quiet marina and a great location for exploring many "hot" spots of keewanaw. Was able to use the on boat bathroom during the nighttime BR runs, and the marina showers were adequate. The harbor master was around for questions. Weather didn't cooperate for us and we had a lot of rain and cold for early August. But even though it was 50 degrees at night we stayed warm in the boat with our sleeping bags! Steve was accommodating, helpful and fair.

    Tammy2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The boat was roomy and comfortable....love that there were no bugs to bother us at night. Such a beautiful location

    Kimberly2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience! We loved the location and the friendliness of everyone we met. The gentle rocking of the boat was a great way to fall asleep.

    Anna2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, super cool spot

    Luke2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Chose Steve and Erika's place as a last minute decision, and could not have been more pleased. The boat offers a new take on staying in Copper Harbor for those returning, and a fun/unique immersion to the area for Keeweenaw first timers. It makes for a quant and quiet retreat after a day of hiking, kayaking, or exploring. And though the boat only offers very basic amenities in terms of bathrooms and plumbing, the harbor house (located only a quick walk down the pier) has a full bathroom and shower - open 24/7. I was also happy to discover that the harbor offers wifi with a signal strong enough to work both inside and on the deck of the boat. My only caution is for those in larger groups or families as the accommodations are cozier. Though more than enough for one person, a couple, or a small family. I will certainly be visiting again and this boat will be my first consideration. Major thanks to both Steve and Erika for providing a great experience, as well as being extremely helpful and congenial hosts.

  • Rick met us at the cabin when we arrived and provided us with all of the information that we needed. The cabin was very clean and very bright--all recently and nicely done. It was easy to get in and out of and close to the beach and several walking trails. There was no phone service or internet in the area, so be sure to bring a book to read for entertainment! We had a really nice stay in a beautiful area of the country.

  • Great place for a get-away!! We stayed in the cabin while snowboarding at Mt Bohemia. The cabin is minutes away from the hill. Close enough to where you don't have to pack meals. Just hop back to the cabin, eat, then hop back out on the slopes! The beds were comfortable, kitchen worked great for cooking our own meals, showers were hot, and TV/Wifi worked great for those moments when you're not on the slopes. Would definitely come back!

  • We found the cabin ideal for a relaxing stay, well appointed and comfortable. Lac La Belle is a gem! The location of the cabin makes it ideal for exploring Copper Harbor with all the fantastic sights both along the coast and forest drives. Our first trip to the Upper Peninsula and we lucked out to catch the peak of fall colors! Give Richard a call if you are considering a trip to the UP, you will not be disappointed.

  • Cabin seems to be newly renovated. Exceeded my expectations. Will definitely stay here next time I go near Lac La Belle!

  • Excellent hosts, so patient even when we got lost due to our own failure to read the Airbnb directions. They were available whenever we needed them and they came by to check on us to make sure we were all set. Very clean, secluded, but still nearby local attractions. We had a great time, didn't want to leave.

    Allison2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and cozy!

    Elizabeth2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice location with plenty of room for a group of 4 or 5. Conveniently located close to Mt. Bohemia and only a short walk to the road where you can catch a shuttle to the lodge. Richard was waiting to meet us on our arrival and there first thing in the morning to plow the snow when a storm came through.

  • Great place. Richard was easy going, we had plants of room and absolutely no issues. I would stay here again.

  • Richard went above and beyond. From excellent recommendations on where to visit, helping out when we had car trouble, and being so accommodating to anything we could need. The house was perfectly clean and furnished. The location is great if you are wanting to be centrally located to mines and the harbor. We had motorcycles and it was a great spot for that. We will be returning to visit!

  • We had a party of 5 adults and 2 children. The unit we stayed in was perfect for our group. Lac La Belle is a beautiful destination, and I would highly recommend Wilderness Resort to those wishing to visit. We really enjoyed our stay, and Rick and Michelle were very hospitable!

Rick and Michele are fantastic hosts and the cabin was exactly as described in the listing, if not better! The cabin is very clean and everything is well-maintained and in working order. This is a great base to explore all that the Keweenaw Peninsula has to offer.

Laid-back venue-Laughing Moon Cottage is located in the tiny Lake Superior shore town of Eagle River, MI. The cottage, built in 1866, is part of the town's historic district. There are 2 guest rooms--each at $125/night-this is a listing for the Sunset View Room. It features a full-size bed and shared bath with personal bath supplies and breakfast provided. Guest have use of communal lobby, dining room, and outdoor porch areas. This is a walking town--beach is 5 minute walk.
This home was built in 1866 by Joseph Blight, who established a fuse factory in Eagle River which made fuses for the explosives used in the copper mines in the Keweenaw Peninsula during the mining heyday. The family made their home here until 1969. Now a bed and breakfast, the home has the feel of a friendly little beach house and is furnished with antiques and flea market finds. A working artist's residence with separate living quarters and studio on site, the home showcases local art and artisans of all kinds and features a small gift shop.
Laughing Moon Cottage was designed with your comfort in mind so that you will feel as if it is your "home away from home" and it is hoped you will treat it as such and use the amenities and space offered to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Daily housekeeping service is not provided so please bring any trash or other disposables to the staff and maintain your space for your safety as you would in your own home. A bin for used towels is provided in the bath. I f you have any special laundry needs please ask the staff. There is no smoking on the premises in order to accommodate all guests. Since this is a historic home, it is asked that you do not use candles or any combustibles indoors. Please review escape routes and fire/emergency procedure posted in each guest room. A cat and dog reside in the home but have restricted access-- however, unfortunately, since animals are territorial creatures, in order to maintain a peaceful and clean environment, guests with traveling pets cannot be accepted. Because the premises are not childproof, very young children are not encouraged.

  • Besti is the sweetest most welcoming person with a cute home she calls the laughing moon, made us feel at home right away! What a great host, cooked us yummy breakfast each day and showed us trail maps for hiking and biking. We loved our stay with betsi! Will be back sometime for a longer visit.

    Erica2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a delightful time staying with Betsi! Amazing filling breakfast and her darling home made us feel like one of the family! She provided places to see of interest and also had a booklet printed up that we were able to read about the activities and directions to get to these fun places. Also she served some of the best coffee I have had in ages. Betsi was a perfect host that made you feel welcome immediately.

    Nancy2015-10-11T00:00:00Z

    Jason2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Betsi was great! We had a very busy trip without much downtime but every moment in Laughing Moon Cottage we felt relaxed and well taken care of. She was flexible with our schedule and even accommodated our dietary restrictions, making us a hearty breakfast that kept us going! The cottage is adorable and the town is great. Would definitely recommend anyone visiting the UP to stay with Betsi!

I think Eagle River is perfectly located. We watched the stars at night at the beach and I even fell asleep by the bonfire on the beach one night. Betsi's breakfast was out of this world. I have dietary restrictions and she fully accommodated me. Would definitely stay again.

Three bedroom cottage on the most beautiful lake in the Keweenaw. Large living/dining area with wood stove, fully equipped kitchen, screen porch and deck. The large yard is perfect for outdoor games; the dock for watching the sunset over Lake Medora. The lake is great for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. The cottage is a great choice for a family vacation or a romantic get-away. The Copper Harbor area is great for summer vacations, and equally popular during the fall color season.
Cottage is located on US 41, so it is easy to find and access. Cell phone access is only available via Verizon.
We are just 4 miles south of Copper Harbor, which has wonderful shopping and restaurants and unlimited hiking and mountain biking trails. Just 3 miles from Keweenaw Mt. Lodge golf course and restaurant. September and October are some of the most beautiful times to be at Lake Medora and Copper Harbor, when the fall colors bring tourists from around the country.
  • Had a great time. 5 minutes from Copper Harbor and right on Lake Medora. Cottage was quite spacious and many amenities provided. Owners were super nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

    Josh2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Jill's Lake Medora Cottage. We came to Copper Harbor for a week with our extended family and dog. We were excited to be on a lake near all the great mountain biking trails, and at a place that allowed pets. The cottage was spacious and comfortable, the screen porch was a must with the black flies at the tail end of their season. The shallow lake was great for our children, and post ride cool offs. The kitchen is well stocked with all kinds of pots, pans, utensils to cook as much as you want. Jill let us know before hand that groceries are limited in the Copper Harbor area and we came fully provisioned for the week. We loved our time at the tip of the Keweenaw, we did lots of mountain biking and hiking in the area (despite the black flies). If you enjoy time outdoors, this is a great destination. Jill provided lots of good ideas for hikes, places to eat and more. Great hosts! And the tap water is tasty too!

    Erik2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • We rented the cottage for a week. My wife arrived in the beginning of the week for some much needed rest and relaxation. She enjoy the rainy days with the wood stove and she especially liked Jill's book collection. I arrived mid week just in time for the great sunsets Jill spoke about. Some fine whiskey and wine on the dock watching the sunset is just what I needed. Dancing, lit up clouds? No! We enjoyed a spectacular northern light display over Lake Medora!!! The next day we packed lunch and headed out in the canoe provided to one of the tiny islands. We enjoyed a great lunch on our private island with views abound. Our dogs loved the yard and even though its on a 'busy' road, they never felt the need to go in front. We never had a chance to meet Jill but she was so accommodating and wonderful we wished we had. Make sure to check out Brockway Mountain drive, Hunters Point, Gratiot Beach, and the many endless trout streams to name just a few!

    Thomas2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Lake Medora cottage is a great place for a family vacation! The lake is beautiful and the cottage is awesome. We had an amazing time! Jill and Randy have everything that you could possibly need. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

    Sarah2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Jill's place. It was very comfortable and the view was beautiful. The Keweenaw area is terrific for anyone who likes to hike, canoe and take in nature. We also spent a good deal of time just relaxing and reading, playing games and talking. We had seven adults in our group and the space accommodated us well - managed fine with one bathroom! The wood stove felt great on the cool mornings and one rainy evening - very cozy! The screened in porch was great for those of us who liked to be in the shade and the outside porch was used by our sun loving members in the mornings. Jill met us and showed us around and told us about the place, gave us numbers to call if we needed anything and then left us on our own. Everyone in our group would go back again. Thanks Jill.

  • We just returned from a wonderful week at this cabin for our annual trip to the U.P. We usually stay on Lake Superior, but with two young kids, we decided to try a smaller lake. We were not disappointed. The cabin is located on a really gorgeous lake with incredible sunsets and is really close to many great things to do in the area, so we were able to do a lot when we weren't at the cabin. With two little ones, we also really appreciated the shallow beach and various boat options to try (canoe, kayak, paddle boat). On the cooler rainy days we really enjoyed the wood stove and screened in porch. The cabin had everything we needed and it was very comfortable and spacious and everything was as described. I'd highly recommend it for anyone wanting to relax on a beautiful lake. We hope to come back next year!
