  • The Pad was very cozy and romantic and we would totally recommend it for the summer months but it takes some time to heat up in the colder time of the year (but Kelly provided a good heater as well as several plankets which made it warm enough).

  • Kelly's place was charming. She was a lovely host and made us feel quite at home.

  • Great place to spend one night. A little bit small but comfortable! And had everything we need. Joe was very accessible at check in time! Thank you!

  • Kelly's "pod" and place was a perfect get away from the city and hostels, but actually less then 10 minutes from Fermoy. The neighborhood is beautiful, the pod is very private and the bathroom and kitchen area are very clean and easily accessible. Kelly herself was very pleasant and easy to communicate with before our arrival. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others!

    Lauren2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so cute! It is very clean and the decor inside the pod is lovely. We didn't get to meet Kelly because we had to be on our way quickly, but the man who met us there was very kind and showed us everything. The bathroom is country style and has everything you might need.

  • Loved the detail and care that Emily and John put into this house. Very cozy. Not to forget very comfortable beds.

    Steffen2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Emily and John's place was adorable! Emily was very sweet and well prepared showing us to the cottage upon arrival. We really enjoyed our stay here. Their dog is also very cute and friendly, which provided us with a warm welcome and goodbye!

    Bradley2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Emily and John were great hosts. The Blacksmith's Cottage was perfect in every way. There was fresh eggs (from their chickens), bread, milk, coffee, butter and more waiting for us when we arrived. I would definitely stay there again on another trip!

    Robb2017-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the cottage was delightful. It was far enough out from the city to be quieter, but still quick to access Cork and the surrounding areas. The cottage was a great fit for us, providing a quiet place to come home to. The garden was lovely to sit in and read, and seeing the dog across the yard made it feel more like home. Everything was clean, easy to find, and the kitchen was well-equipped. Emily and John left us some bread, fresh eggs, and milk in the kitchen, which was very appreciated. We'd happily stay here again!

  • The Blacksmith's Cottage is enchanting! The entire home is charming, full of 19th and 20th century details that reflect three generations of family blacksmiths' activities, lovely rooms with plenty of light and beautiful outdoor landscaping. There is a cozy parlor, a lovely country kitchen to have meals in - a home away from home in a perfect location for touring southern Ireland. Emily was helpful and such fun to talk to; my two sons and I wanted to stay much longer. A special air bnb, the Blacksmith's Cottage is a treasure!

    Janet2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Can't say enough wonderful things about the Blacksmith's Cottage. It was a delightful cottage that was impeccably clean and wonderfully Irish. Everything you could hope for in an Irish Cottage. Emily was a dear and helped when we got turned around on the roads to the cottage. Even offering to come and fetch us if needed. This was a cottage you felt very at home in and wanted to linger in. There were fresh flowers in the kitchen. Fully furnished for whatever your needs. We can't wait to come back and stay for longer. Thank you!

  • Hugh and Nuala were very welcoming and had helpful recommendations. Fermoy was close for a shop and it was a good distance from Cork. The house was charming and had everything we needed.

    Anna2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nuala is an excellent hostess who met us promptly at the property to show us all the ins and outs of the lovely estate. She also greeted us with a cold bottle of champagne in the fridge for our first night in Ireland. We couldn't have asked for a better experience or hostess. She ensured there was a warm fire burning every evening upon our return and made herself available for any questions that we had! We will be returning for another stay at this lovely property!

    Michael2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say other than AMAZING in every way. Nuala and Hugh were the best hosts ever and nothing was too much for them. Hugh had a fire made up for us every day to return to after busy days visiting Cork and our relatives in Cobh. They are excellent at keeping surprises too as my sisters had asked if my two brothers could join us for a couple of days and they said yes, without hesitation, and kept it a secret from me !! I would like to just say a big THANKYOU to both Nuala and Hugh and to say quite definitely, WE WILL BE BACK !!

    Janie2016-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nuala was a welcoming host. She gave us a through orientation tour. She was kind enough to send Hugh over to start a cozy fire in the wood stove. Her property was well described and located in the beautiful Castlelyons area.

    Ernie 2016-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a pleasant stay at The Gate Lodge! Nuala and Hugh went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcoming. The home is exceptionally clean and tidy. The grounds of their home are beautiful and we enjoyed walking around them in the evenings. Hugh gave us a lovely garden tour!

    Alicia2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Host: They are the most loveliest people you'll ever meet. They are always available if you need anything (like coffee beans and grinder), they provide good sight seeing advice (don't drive the Ring of Kerry during a holiday) and they are great just to chat with. The House: The house has so much room to accommodate a large group. My favorite room of the house was the kitchen. My family spent mornings and evenings sitting at the kitchen table having meals, discussing plans for the next day and talking about the great day of sight seeing. The Location: The house is not easy to find, and unfortunately our phone wasn't working. Luckily, the neighbors know each other. The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden that you are free to roam around in. My boys enjoyed the swings and my father enjoyed BBQing on the patio. If you want to get anywhere, you will need a car.

    steffany2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures of the Gate Lodge struck us as being the type of place we envisioned for our stay in Ireland. Actually being at the Lodge exceeded expectations. We loved it. Cozy, comfortable, and nicely located just outside of town. Nuala was a wonderful host. We would certainly visit again.

A blacksmith's forge near the Bride River in the heart of rural Cork complete with vegetable garden and free range hens - leave the rat race for a day or two and put your feet up, or explore the Rebel County and beautiful West Waterford.
We are 40 minutes northeast of Cork city, between the rivers Bride and Blackwater, in a beautiful recently restored 200 year old stone blacksmith's forge on the edge of an Irish rural village. Our home is fitted with eco technology including geothermal underfloor heating and solar panels, and with two wood burning stoves. We have a very large enclosed back garden complete with separate fruit and vegetable gardens, and hen enclosure with fresh eggs daily. The double guest bedroom has been newly decorated, the children's bedroom (when available) will suit up to three children and your bathroom contains a Victorian rolltop bath and shower. The kitchen/dining room is at the heart of the house with sofas and easy chairs around the wood burning stove, and there is also a sitting room with TV and piano. The kitchen opens up on to large south facing patio with table and chairs. We are 15 minutes walk from our local village, where there is a small grocery store, post office, three pubs, two churches and a cafe. Cork is 40 minutes drive away, and is the second largest city in Ireland, on the south coast. Cork is renowned as the food capital of Ireland, containing the world-famous English market as well as great bars and restaurants. We are a 20 minute drive from Ballymaloe House, home to three generations of famous Irish cooks (all women!). The nearest large town is Fermoy, 15 minutes drive away for larger supermarkets, shops and restaurants. We are 15 minutes drive from the historic and beautiful town of Lismore, with its beautiful castle and gardens. We have bicycles that you can use whilst here, and everything that you would need for a picnic when you're on a romantic walk or cycle in the area. If we're away, up to five people can stay here, as up to three singles are available in the second bedroom. Also, we'd welcome couples travelling with a baby/toddler as we have a travel cot that will work perfectly in the double bedroom. We like to exchange a few messages before we confirm your booking, so we look forward to hearing from you! Typically we need a few day's notice of your visit, but it's still worth asking even if it's last minute and we'll try our best to accommodate you.
  • I had a terrific time staying with Caroline (and Peter and Daniel). The room was super-comfortable and their hospitality exceptional. We had lots to talk about, especially music and theatre; and I really enjoyed playing the piano too. Coming from urban Islington, I was particularly impressed by Peter's vegetable allotment and enjoyed the eggs provided by the chickens. An excellent place to stay.

    Jeremy2014-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • I had five wonderful nights with Caroline, Peter, and Daniel at their lovely home in Conna. After the long drive from Belfast, I was invited to join them for dinner and felt from the first that I was welcomed like an old family friend. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable as is the room. The bed was more comfortable than any of the other places that I've stayed in Ireland! But, it is Caroline and Peter's hospitality which truly shines and made the stay so special and memorable. I highly recommend this B&B and would love to be able to come back again for another visit in the future.

    kaaren2015-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline and Peter are just the loveliest people. They have chickens (fresh eggs!) and apple trees and a gorgeous garden and Peter's amazing gin. But more than all of this, they are a pleasure to eat a meal with. I will be returning to stay with them whenever I'm able.

    Lauren2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline and Peter were fantastic hosts. The best! They were amazingly accommodating, helpful, and generous. We felt more like they were hosting friends than strangers from across the world. They are great conversationalists (especially over wine and cheese), with Daniel's input too. Highly recommended hosts, would stay with them again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much!

    Kelli2011-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend staying with Caroline, Peter, and little Daniel! The house was beautiful and very comfortable to stay in. The family was just as exceptional. Went above and beyond to make our stay one of the most memorable.

    Kristie2012-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • I only wish my daughter and I had been able to stay longer (or maybe move in?) in Caroline's deeply wonderful home. Because our hosts were away, we got to live a perfect fantasy in a world of happy chickens, beautiful cooking implements, meaningful books, and carefully chosen furnishings. We found food aplenty and a bottle of good whiskey waiting for us and we had such a sense of a life worth living. The rural Cork location is exquisite as well and I am still dazzled by the experience. This place is very special and knows how to pamper its guests!

    Christiane2012-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • I reserved a room in Conna because it is my ancestors' birthplace. My experience was so very enhanced because of the lovely place and wonderful hosts. The house is a renovated blacksmith's forge full of beautiful antiques from Peter and Caroline's families. Being in a home with an Irish family just approaching a youngster's first grade in school was an event in itself. I loved chatting with them about nearly everything and learning from Peter how to access the ordinance survey land maps online. The food, the gardens, the hens, the cemetery behind the property were all added delights. I WILL return for many reasons!

    Kathy 2013-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Don't know where to begin. This was one of my favorite stays in six weeks of travel throughout Europe. Caroline and Peter, and their son Daniel, we're so gracious and generous and kind. The room was very well appointed and comfortable, in a nice quiet town in rural Cork. What really makes the stay grand, though, is the family. I felt at home with them. Cannot recommend highly enough, and truly hope our paths cross again.

The luxury toiletries from the White Company were only Devine as were the 100% cotton bedding we were provided with not to mention the solid wood memory foam matter bed ! We were left a lovely room platter of different cheeses, caviar and water biscuits! Upon arrival we were given a glass of chilled Verve Clicquot! This place is decadence in itself well worth the price!

  • I had a lovely stay at Margaret's BnB. Margaret picked me up from the bus stop and even offered to drive me out to Glanworth and helped me to find relatives of my great grandparents. The BnB is a nice old school house with spacious rooms with an old charm, but with large modern bathrooms too. Easy to walk into Fermoy town from the BnB. Thank you Margaret!!

  • Margaret was a wonderful host! She picked us up from where our bus dropped us off in Fermoy and took us on a beautiful drive through the city and showed us some of her favorite spots. She offered to drive us around if needed and was intent on meeting our every need. The room that we stayed in was gorgeous and comfortable - just what we needed after a hectic weekend. Margaret was always available for help and guidance during our stay. She had breakfast ready for us early in the morning and even drove us back to Cork to catch our bus to Dublin. We wish we could've spent more time at Margaret's because she was such a lovely host! I would definitely recommend Margaret's B&B without any hesitation.

  • During my stay Margaret helped me a lot. It was my first time at a BnB and thanks to Margaret has been a great experience. She is so nice and a great person. Every time she tried that I felt like at home. She told me and showed me many things about Ireland and Fermoy. The room was very cozy and nice. The location and views are great. I highly recommend Margaret`s BnB.

  • Nothing but exceptional professionalism and homey living. This place has rooms of hotel quality with the furnishings that ease you right back into being home. Amazing woman to host you and I have nothing but positive feelings about this place. Looking forward to coming back again!

  • marharet is a very nice lady. her place is like budget B&B which is value for money and a nice place to stay. Sometimes, you've got the whole house to yourself. and you have a key to come and at you own feel will. Breakfast is help yourself, and free tea and coffee at anytime.

    Steven2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very nice B and B. Margaret came to find us when we got a bit lost and couldn't quite find her (sat nav sends you left at the top of Richmond Hill, but actually it's right, just opposite the school). We then had tea and cake on arrival, and she even gave us a lift into town. The next day we had a lovely breakfast served late morning at a time convenient to us, rather than the usual set times that many B and Bs make you adhere to. Nice spacious rooms and bathrooms too. Very good value for money.

  • Eddie could easily be charging more for this place. From the location to the amenities to the huge comfy bed and totally updated kitchen (really everything!) my husband and I had a wonderful stay here. It is centrally located which made it so easy to continue our journey once we got on our way. It is right by the Kent bridge and the river can be seen and heard right outside the apartment. There's also a cozy (and cheap) bar right beside the place where we rubbed elbows with the locals. Only thing that might bother one would be the tighter quarters, but that's only if you're not used to city apartment living. Great stay, amazing value overall. Eddie was an amazing host and made us feel right at home.

Our comfortable, spacious and fully furnished 2 bedroom flat is right in the center of Fermoy, with only a 2 minute walk to the bus stop. You’ll love the flat because of its location. It is so convenient and easy to get to and close to all local amenities. There is a large pay and display car park adjacent to the flat - costing only €1 per day and free on sundays. My place is good for holiday makers, business travelers (we will be getting wifi installed soon!) , and families (with kids).

I sent him a text to let him know when we would arrive and he was there waiting for us when we got there. He also provided some basics for breakfast so we wouldn't have to go out to pick anything up in the morning, which was a nice touch! Thanks for everything, Ed!

  • Awesome! Our family of 4 loved staying at Fisherman's rest, and in my opinion it is the nicest Airbnb we have stayed at. Super comfy beds with great feather pillows and down comforters. Everything was beautiful and clean and comfortable. I recommend it highly! Donal was also great at giving us tips and suggestions for where to visit, eat, etc. Also there is a great park right across the street that our daughters loved. And the shower is great! And the garden! We recommend the walk to the towers (outside of Lismore). This is a short beautiful hike that ends at some really impressive ruins.

  • Donal is very nice and courteous. I booked the apartment for a friend of mine and the communication in advance was perfect - quick feedback and no problem at all when we had to change the bookings. The apartment is very clean and offers evreything you need. My friend Steven was also impressed by the beautiful garden Donal and his wife had set up and where he was able to linger for a while. They were also very helpful and offered to give Steven a ride to the grocery store to get what he needed. Both, Steven and me, would like to thank you for you kindness and for welcoming Steven so cordially in your home! We wish you all the best!

  • Erics house is very comfortable and big. There is nothing missing and has a very luxurious bathroom. Unfortunately it is placed next to the motorway. This is a hint for people, who are noise-sensitive. He cared a lot giving us the exact and detailled directions to his home. His niece was a very good host :-).

  • I had a lovely albeit brief stay with Neill and Sabrina. They are a lovely couple and most welcoming. Very friendly, helpful and genuinely nice. The house is cozy and has all you need. Neill cooked me a full Irish breakfast as early as I needed. He also went over and above in helping me to get there. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Highly recommended!

  • Neil is very responsive and quick to reply with the messages you send him so rest assured you will receive a reply! The highlight of this entire stay here is Neil's utmost friendliness! Being a quiet person, he was still able make the conversation flowing. As I was travelling without a car, Neil gladly picked me up from the nearest bus-accessible town, Fermoy. Next day he also provided me a ride to Lismore and back. But do take note that he charges 5Euro for each way. Other notable thing is the hot tub which is a must try.

  • Neil & B were the perfect hosts. So sweet, outgoing and totally helpful in any way you could think! Everything was what we looked forward to and more, they definitely exceeded our expectations and made our stay amazing and 100% worth going. The location is absolutely stunning and it's a great place to relax and get some sun (*cough cough* we were there on Cork's hottest day yet this summer and burnt just a teeny). Overall I would go back and definitely spend more time if I could, it's beautiful place surrounded with beautiful people. Thank you for everything guys! ❤️

  • We had a wedding in the area and Kerenna’s place was perfectly located in between the church and the reception. Kerenna is really nice, very accommodating and friendly. Very easy to communicate with and very knowledgeable of the area. We had the chance to meet her mother too, who was also very nice. The bedroom is airy and light. The bed is very comfortable. It was very helpful to have an A4- sheet with useful information, as for instance restaurants, emergency numbers and taxis. There is a kettle in the room, tea, coffee and biscuits (our favourite ones), which was really nice. The house itself is nice and warm. We could not fault the breakfast either. Kerenna kindly provided gluten free cereals and bread for Xenia, THANKS A MILLION FOR THAT. We would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.

  • What a beautiful, charming, stylish house! We admired its large victorian rooms, high ceilings, all furnished and decorated with taste. Very comfortable stay, Anne being a discreet and kind hostess.

  • Had a great time down at Neill's farmhouse! Amazing location to chill out and relax or go walking for a few hours (once you get off the main road!) Even if the weather isn't great you can jump in the hot tub any time day or night. Great vibe altogether very welcoming lovely people! Really looking forward to my next visit!

  • I had a great stay at Neill's. He went above and beyond from the get-go by meeting me in town and showing me the way when I had difficulty finding his place. Once at his home, I was warmly welcomed by his guests, made to feel at home, and given fantastic sightseeing advice tailored to my travel plans. Breakfast was delicious and came with a stunning view. I especially enjoyed watching the cows in the neighboring field - quite relaxing - and playing with Moe the cat and Oskar and his visiting canine friends helped me to miss my fur babies a little less while I was away from home.

  • The house is confortable and Neil is very kindly.

    Irene2015-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Neill & doggy Oscar :) have been great hosts, before and during our stay! Communication was very easy. The farmhouse is lovely, with a unique charme. We found everything as described (new hightech shower, hot tub...). Neill takes very good care of his guests, picks them up if needed, prepares breakfast at the time it is wished for (we can recommend the full Irish ;) and it's very nice having breakfast outside!) etc. All in all, it has been a very good Airbnb experience and we can highly recommend it! Go for it! :)

  • Our host are the most amazing people, Neil and Sabine are the kindest people I have ever met. There hospitality is better then that of five star hotels. We arrived as guest but left as friends. They are the nicest people. We came for our 6th wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! We loved enjoying champagne for hours in the hot tub underneath a rose bush with twinkle lights!!!!! The company topped off the overall stay. The facilities won't disappoint. We chose the full Irish for breakfast and we were not disappointed. Yum yum yum, thinking about the sneem pudding and spiced pear now :) Neil and Sabine are giving 5***** service at affordable prices!!! We will be back!!!! THANK YOU for making our anniversary a great one :) Christina and patrick

  • We loved the relaxed atmosphere, the large comfortable sitting room with candles and a big stove. Also of course the hot tub before a hearty breakfast! Altogether a great place to stay!

  • My days with Neil and Sabine were amazing, they are great, warm and easy going persons, I really felt like home with them, it was like visiting some relatives. The house is in the middle of this peaceful and magic green landscape. This little family with Oscar and the little one, make my last days in Ireland, as perfect as they could be. Neil, pick me up in Cork and he was always kind and available to take me to the center and also to the airport, even though the hour. Sabine became something like a friend for me, we had amazing talks in some great and magic parks, with Oscar the best ball catcher ever.

  • Neil was gracious and attentive. Good hearty breakfast. Washer/dryer were beneficial. Access to toilet required stairs. Overall, good experience.

  • Eric is a very enthusiastic host, I was travelling on my own v and was nervous staying with a male host but need not have been. Eric greeted me and showed me around the entire house, it really is a luxury stay.

  • A location near a major highway. A quiet country setting. Modern, clean, clean, clean and new facilities. Eric is a fantastic host.

    Fred2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Eric so I could attend a 2 day course at Teagasc Moore Park. It is 100% the ideal location if you have a course, interview or meeting at Moore Park which is less than 5 minutes walk away. Eric was very kind and picked me up from Fermoy as I can't drive, took me to the supermarket and then back home where he made me very welcome. The kitchen is great and I cooked my meals whilst I was staying there. I also really liked the Jacuzzi! Wifi connection is good so you can work from there as well.

    Melanie2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Another great stay at Eric's place. Never disappointed!

  • Eric is an amazing host! He was extremely acomodating and understanding even when I showed up 2 hours after my agreed check-in time during the wee hours of the night. Great communication and a beautiful home. Highly recommended!

  • Clean, comfortable and quiet. Eric is a great host. The house is new, and although next to a main road, it is quiet. Central to many lovely places to visit. Close to Fermoy, with many shops, pubs and restaurants. It was very suitable for our needs. Highly recommended.

  • Eric is such an accommodating host. He was there to greet us and show us around. The house is really luxurious, we got far more than we expected for the price. The place was clean, breakfast things were available along with a space for us in the fridge... he couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely return!

  • Great stay. Eric was very accommodating and as always was a great host.

  • Couldn't say enough about this place. Feels like a plush hotel, but also manages to feel homely at the same time. Eric is a gentleman and a fantastic host. The facilities are top notch, with jacuzzi, well stocked fridge, sky tv, and a very comfortable bed. For anybody with any interest in walking in the mountains, some quiet pleasant towns, or mountain biking in the bally houra, you need to stay here!
