  • I definitely recommend Sue's place. It is super clean, very well layed-out despite the little space, plus you have all amenities you require. I stayed there for 1 night and I was happy I could even cook, instead of going to the restaurant. I stayed at Sue's place as I had to collect my boyfriend from Manchester Airport the following day at 9am. The location is perfect because the area is very quiet and you only need to drive about 10/15 min to Manchester Airport. It is perfect if you need to go to/be at Manchester Airport for an early/late flight. Sue also provided breakfast, jams, bread etc, and gave some tips for the local restaurants. Don't hesitate to book with Sue!

  • What a fabulous place to stay. Value for money, cosy, all essentials provided, great choice of breakfast cereals, toast, jams & marmalade, endless tea & coffee, lovely quiet area, so conveniently positioned and very attentive host. Thank you Sue we enjoyed our stay 😊

  • If you are considering booking with Sue, just do it. Don’t hesitate. The place is very tastefully set up, with a comfy bed, and lots of breakfast options. Everything you need is there, and Sue was very prompt in responding to messages we sent. We booked to stay for the night before flying from Manchester and the location, distance and everything else you can think of was just perfect. We will 100% book with Sue next time we go abroad. Just ideal!

  • We had an absolutely lovely stay at Samantha’s cottage. Had everything we needed, incredible views and greats walks right on your doorstep. Sam was a brilliant host, very quick to reply and on hand for anything we needed.

    Kate2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, amazing views! Love the local residents (the sheep)

    Edward2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage which is actually nicer than the pictures. The place was clean and comfortable. Waking up to the view of the countryside is amazing. Well located for walks in the surrounding Peak District. Samantha and her husband were very helpful.

    Omar2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn was the perfect base for exploring the beautiful surroundings on our walking holiday. Very peaceful and quiet location. The property was impeccably clean had everything we needed. The bathroom is excellent, particularly the shower. Central heating works brilliantly - a very responsive thermostat made sure it was always cosy but not too hot. The owners were very attentive (lovely text on the first morning to check in with us) but also very respectful of our privacy. Would definitely recommend this fantastic Airbnb

  • Amazing host and a lovely cottage in a great location

    Nathan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The barn was just as lovely as the pictures. The area is extremely peaceful with beautiful walks on the doorstep. It's an idyllic spot if you're looking for somewhere cosy and quiet to get away. We had a wonderful stay and would really recommend Sam as a host. The place was spotless and her communication was spot on.

    Hannah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Very grateful for the exceedingly clean well presented accomodation

    Peter2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Barn was lovely - all spotlessly clean with excellent facilities, in a lovely location. Directions were excellent and Samantha kept in touch throughout. You'll also meet the friendliest chicken in the world! The steep drive would be a bit treacherous in bad weather, so be aware if you don't have a 4x4 and wintery weather is forecast!

Owls Loft is a self contained holiday cottage with a private outdoor seating area and paddock. In a tranquil, rural setting, with views of the Cheshire Plain, this is a great place to recharge your batteries. It is well located to visit the Peak District, or get the train into Manchester from Macclesfield or Congleton. There are a number of National Trust properties within easy reach, as well as Alton Towers, Chatsworth House, the antique shops of Leek and the pottery towns of Stoke on Trent.
Owls Loft has a cosy cottage feel, but is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen and shower room are located on the ground floor and upstairs is a sitting room, with log burner, and a double bedroom. Outside there is a private patio seating area and you have exclusive access to a small paddock.
Owls Loft is on the edge of Biddulph Moor, a village in the Staffordshire countryside. We have 2 pubs, 2 shops and a school and we are just a few miles from Congleton or Leek, and any amenities you may need are available in Biddulph, just down the hill. This is a lovely area for walking, and we are just up the road from Biddulph Grange Gardens and country park.
  • What a lovely place. Beautiful accommodation. Cosy but with everything you need. A lovely and quiet location. Sue was lovely. Definitely recommend it.

    Stan2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet space in nature, quiet, beautifully clean and modern inside!

    Tanya2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place. Perfect for dog owners. Thoughtful touches, dog towels and blankets and little paddock for the dog to run in. Very clean and stylish. Very comfortable. Five stars!

    Louise2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking and thinking is this place as good as it seems ...then the answer is YES and more. Just book it and make sure you are ready to relax and just take it the fresh air and unwind for a few days. My only advice to anyone is to book at least three days and of course visit the local National Trust locations nearby ( 2 within 15 minute drive ).

    Terry2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's place was exactly as described in the other reviews, cosy, clean and homely. We stayed for three nights and could have stayed for more, the layout was a clever use of space which made it the perfect size. Owl's loft was equipped with everything we could have possibly needed, which was great especially as we love cooking when we're away. If you are looking for a walk definitely visit Lud's Church, about a half an hour drive away, Biddulph Grange Garden National Trust is also a must see. One thing I would say is if you were looking to visit a pub for the evening you'd probably have to get a cab as the property is down a lane that wouldn't be ideal to walk down. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay, great location and very homely.

    Charlotte2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It’s so clean and a lovely cottage well designed for the needs of a couple or four people was so lovely being able take out dog and such lovely furniture and the scenery was breath taking.

  • Great stay this week at Susan’s place. Spotless, lovely touches and perfect for a cosy break away

    Theo2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Owls Loft is a real gem in the lovely English countryside. After long days out exploring in the Peak District, it was great to come back to the cosy cottage that is Owls Loft. The cosy fireplace was a real treat & the kitchen was well stocked. A great idea to have ‘just in case’ box in the bathroom too.

Sue and Chris leave an info booklet for you with different restaurants and walks to go on, it’s so helpful and their recommendations are very good! I’d recommend this place to anyone that would like some quiet time away to relax.

  • Paul was a great host in that his communication was great and kept us in the loop at all times. On arrival the apartment was chilly despite Paul having sent a message earlier saying he’d put the heating on at 4.30pm and that it would be warm for us on arrival. We did discuss this later with Paul and established it was a technical error with the heating. We easily overcame the 8C room temperature by flicking the heating to manual and within an hour the room heated up to a more comfortable 16C. Later in our stay the room temperature went well above 21C. The apartment was clean, tastefully decorated with lovely plush carpeting throughout. The bathroom was modern, big and the shower was hot and powerful. The bedroom was also a good size and it was useful to have a well equipped kitchen. Also the nice touches like biscuits, hot cross buns and beers as well as cereals tea, coffee and milk added to the experience. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this property and thanks again to Paul for his great hospitality.

    Cheryl2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stopped off at Paul's place in between travels. His communication was fast and detailed - he gave great directions to the accommodation. The place was clean, tidy and stylish. We really appreciated the small homely things including biscuits and breakfast supplied. Would definitely recommend.

Good base to explore the area although we were battered by storm Dennis so the great dvd collection came in handy as did the well equipped kitchen . Would definitely recommend and stay again if in the area .

  • The room is very clean, modern, comfortable, quiet and in a nice area, particularly with the views of the castle. We found it particularly helpful that most kitchen utilities were provided so we could cook. Paul also communicated very quickly and helpfully which we are most grateful for. Overall it’s a great space, very modestly priced from a kind and helpful host. Very highly recommended!!

    Hurst Cottage
Find Hurst Cottage on the corner of a leafy green country road, in the village of Biddulph in Staffordshire, boasting large gardens and bursting with character inside and out, you will have an amazing time getting to know this lovely area. The property lends itself well to families and couples because of the open space and many nooks and crannies to explore, with the small river running through part of the garden making it truly unique.Park up the car and head down the stone steps, to the main door, and make your way into the lovely kitchen which is home to pretty pale blue cabinets and a wood counter tops, giving the room a classic cottage feel.A woodburning stove sits in the middle of the exposed red brick wall, and is accessible from the other side in the dining area, alongside a large grey stone feature wall where the original fireplace would have been years ago. This dining area has large windows with views out to the river down below, and with the windows open on a summer day, you can listen to the sound of the water flowing, while the birds sing in the trees.More incredible stonework features on the walls of the sitting room, containing sofas and chairs for you to make yourself comfy in, and why not have a chilled film night using the widescreen TV for those quiet evenings in.Upstairs there is a modern bathroom suite and next door is the master bedroom, adorned with solid wood furniture and a TV, while the second bedroom is twin.To the outside where you’ll hopefully be able to spend a lot of time (if the weather behaves!) you’ll find a bubbling hot tub, set into the decking looking over the rest of the beautiful garden, which stretches on for what seems like forever!Take a minute to discover this fairytale-esque garden; cross the little bridge over the river, run in between the shrubbery. The local area offers some great day out opportunities, like visiting Biddulph Grange, a National Trust owned house and landscaped gardens, with the gardens divided into many areas based on their influences around the world, or take a walk up to Mow Cop Castle, a hilltop stone tower, set on the ridge that forms the boundary between the counties Cheshire and Staffordshire.Day trips over to Chester, Liverpool or Manchester could be on the cards being all within an hour and a half drive away, so if you're not often in this area of the UK, head over to one of these bustling cities that all have so much to offer.Enjoy your holiday in a property full of character and interesting features like Hurst Cottage, and you will make beautiful memories.
  • Two friends and I stayed at Hurst Cottage for the weekend. It was in a lovely peaceful setting and a very cosy cottage with personal touches. Would love to come back!

  • The cottage is stunning, set in a peaceful location with beautiful surroundings. This is the second time I have stayed and I am coming back another two times this year! The water wheel was turning this time and we whiled away the hours in the hot tub surrounded by bird song and the running river next to us. Absolute heaven. Really comfortable with all amenities. Love it.

    Esther2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It's absolutely beautiful.... The cottage, the garden, the location! A river runs through the bottom of the garden and just sat listening to the water and watching the waterfall and water wheel was wonderful. It's a short walk to a decent pub (Talbot) and close to the country park. Cottage was so warm, cosy and welcoming and the hot tub just perfect. We highly recommend Hurst Cottage!

  • I booked this for my friend and her husband as she was due to have breakfast with the monkeys at Monkey Forest. I received this text from her ‘This accommodation is fantastic!! First class in all aspects! Spotlessly clean!! Thank you so much xxxx’. So thank you

  • Perfect little place to stay to ‘get away from it all’ There are so many lovely little touches in Alison’s & Terry’s place, you have everything you need for a short break away, milk for that all important cup of tea on arrival, shower gel & shampoo, they even provided a travel cot for our little boy. Great location in the village and right next door to a pub serving great food (and very reasonably priced too) Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

  • Amazing facility with all the extras. Very helpful hosts. The bed was extremely comfortable. I would give this location 6 ⭐️s but 5 stars is the most I can award. Highly recommended.

  • We stayed in this beautiful apartment for 8 nights and we were very happy about our choice. We had everything we needed, the apartment was very clean and our hosts did everything to make us feel at home. This is a perfect place to relax and forget a busy city life! We enjoyed the nature, went for a walk a lot and visited some local pubs with delicious food (we really recommend The Royal Oak!). We could also visit some castles and ruins by car, which were not far away from Dilhorne. There is a parking space just near the house. We got fresh towels every third day which was a nice bonus! Also the bed was very comfortable and big with lots of pillows. The communication with hosts was fantastic, they were always available, but also protected our privacy. It was a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend this apartment to everyone! Thank you very much, Terry and Alison.

  • Thank you for our stay! It was very cosey, comforting and spotless! with a lovely surrounding community. The locals were also very polite and easy going whilst visiting The Royal Oak. Our overall experience was excellent! Everything you needed and more, milk in the fridge, condiments, soap and shampoo, hair dryer, sewing kit! Many thanks once again.

'The Vestry' is an 1846 church building, now a delightful studio cottage for couples, families or business trips with easy access to Manchester airport/city. On the edge of the Peak District it includes a comfortable double bed, 2 single beds on the mezzanine and a single bed (if reqd). Relax in front of the wood burning stove, or on the lovely rear deck overlooking our brook and woodland. It’s an easy 5 minute walk to the village with great pubs, shops and restaurants.
Lovingly renovated over the past 5 years, we have transformed The Vestry into a calming, private sanctuary full of character, history and interest. The Vestry comfortably sleeps 4 (although we can accommodate 5), with the main bed on the ground floor and 2 single beds on the mezzanine level. You do need to climb a ladder up to mezzanine so we recommend that only children over 7 should sleep up top. For younger children, or those who need access to the bathroom during the night, we can provide an additional single bed on the ground floor. The mezzanine isn't just for children however, and adults can also sleep up there (just watch the head height) as it can be a little tight (see photos). There is an en-suite bathroom with a fabulous shower, and we provide towels and toiletries, as well as all linen, duvets and pillows. If you're planning to stay for more than a few days, we're happy to do a change over of linen and towels during your stay. (Please ensure you ask us to so we know to have the linen ready for you) The wood burning stove will be ready to light on arrival, so you can enjoy the warmth and ambience of a real fire! There are plenty of board games too, and in the summer the children are welcome to play in the courtyard. We provide a selection of teas, coffee and milk for your arrival so you can settle in after your drive, and there is a variety of cereals for breakfast. In the kitchenette there is an under-counter fridge freezer and microwave. We are within an easy walk to the village and we find a lot of our guests like to eat out when they are here, and with a variety of cafes, delis and restaurants there are lots of great options to choose from. The bi-fold doors open up to a very private deck, overlooking the brook and our woodland, which is full of wildlife. This is a beautiful, secluded spot, with a table and chairs perfect for breakfast, or an end-of-day G&T or glass of wine! You can park on our driveway or smaller cars can drive into the courtyard - there is additional parking around the corner from the property should you need it. Poynton is a fantastic village for walking and cycling and The Vestry is perfectly located. From the front door you can walk to many of the accessible footpaths that weave through the village, up towards the canal and Lyme Park or down through the Village and over to Poynton Pool. We are available to give you any guidance and recommend places to go to should you need it.
Poynton is a lovely small town with a distinctly village feel. It's located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, and separated from the Manchester conurbation by a large area of green belt, giving Poynton a semi rural character with a huge amount of green space. We have a great selection of cafes, delis, and restaurants in the village, and lots of independent shops giving it a unique feel. There are a couple of great pubs (The Farmers Arms offers great food), bars and we also have a fantastic live music venue - The Acoustic Lounge - with gigs every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Further away from the village centre, we have some classic country pubs serving great food. The train station is about 1.5 miles away with direct routes to Manchester and we have a regular bus route too.
  • The Vestry itself is a beautiful place to stay, Ian and Emma were very accomodating in person and with their local tips in the cottage guide book!

    Martha2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect little place for a stopover or even for a longer stay. Beautifully presented and equipped with all we needed.

    Eoin2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place just outside Manchester! Absolutely perfect for venturing into Manchester, as the train station is within walking distance. The town itself is gorgeous! Just a short walk to all the quaint little shops and restaurants was just what we wanted, so this was perfect for us! The vestry itself is warm, cosy and has all you need. The little personal touches and added extras were the icing on the cake. The fireplace was also an added bonus on a cold winter evening and it was just perfect after a long day around the shops. Lovely hosts who made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. We would highly recommend this great little place to others.

So many lovely touches especially the wood burner and space elements... highly recommend to anyone looking for a special and quaint place to stay in Cheshire. Emma and Ian and dog Franky are great hosts and have really put a lot of thought into making the stay a lovely one. Amanda and Ian

  • Lovely place to stay!

    Isabel2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The vestry is a delightful place to stay. It is even better in person than the photos. Ian made every effort to ensure our comfort and assisted us by calling transport, making excellent local suggestions and being a kind and thoughtful individual in general. The vestry is located in the lovely village of Poynton, near many local walks. It is incredibly cosy and we felt extremely welcome. Thank you Ian and Emma for all of the extra touches. We would certainly stay again.

  • This is a great little studio flat. Smaller than expected but designed very well so it’s not cramped. Effective heater and good shower. Stephanny adds little touches that some Air Bnb’s can scrimp on; such as plenty of toilet roll, soap and washing up liquid, milk and tea and coffee all provided. Great hair dryer too. All very clean. It is the property on the corner. We were a bit confused when we arrived as two other doors have the same number. Super quick responses.

  • Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to meet Sathi in person as I arrived very early and left later (straight from Manchester airport) but she still managed to get me in. I could leave my bags and go sightseeing the city. I was very much welcomed by Sathi's husband, who showed me around the place and was very kind to help me with everything I asked for. The room is very nice and clean. The place is near the tram station - one stop to Manchester airport which wad very convenient and around 40< minutes straight to the Manchester centre. I reccomend Sathi's place :)

  • A great spot - brilliant for the great outdoors!

    Simon2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is located in a fairly secluded area with some great walks nearby. The bunk barn is aimed mainly at walkers and climbers and is fairly basically decorated although it had pretty much everything one would need. There was a small kitchen with a twin ring hob, a kettle, pots and pans, cuttlery and even a fridge. It is only fair that people are expected to clear up after themselves. Toilet facilities are situated in the shower block at the other end of the barn. I was also thankful that the water was lovely and warm! Jane was a good host and gave me some ideas for nearby walks and lent me an OS map. I enjoyed a very long walk off road, even though I got totally soaked through, but it was well worth it. As it was November, I was glad of the small, low powered heater which could keep the room at a comfortable temperature and also dry my clothes. Although I was only able to spare two nights at this lovely location, it was so nice to get away from town life and I really enjoyed my stay here. Thank's Jane!

  • Beautiful host in everyway! The kids loved it and Jane went out of her way to see the children and I had an amazing time. The location is also beautiful and the barn was just right for us. Highly recommend booking with Jane anytime. Thank you Jane hope to see you again xx

  • The view is absolutely stunning and it's so peaceful and quite! There are hot showers and a small kitchen is available with pots and pans, a water boiler and tea and coffee. We hope to be back the next time we visit the Peaks.

  • The bunk barn was comfortable, great value for money and had plenty of space for our family of four. We liked having a kettle, hob and fridge to make breakfasts. Absolutely stunning location, the pictures don't do it justice - we were blown away on arrival and enjoyed watching a beautiful sunset over the nearby valley. The toilet/shower facilities are basic, shared with the campsite, and require a short walk outside from the bunk barn but were very clean and the shower was lovely and warm! Jane was extremely welcoming and helpful. We will definitely be back!

    Sarah2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • It is a nice little barn converted that is very cozy. You get a small kitchenette to make tea and coffee and a small induction cooker. One good thing is that there is no mobile signal at the barn, you can get some good family time together. You have to walk about 100 mts get a signal.

  • I stayed in the bunkhouse for a few nights. Jane is really friendly and shared loads of knowledge of nice walks and cycle rides in the area! Its a beautiful place with easy access to the Roaches. The showers are clean and hot and cooking and water facilities were great too. So nice to sit in the garden in the evenings and watch the mist over the top of the big hills! Would absolutely reccomend Hazel Barrow as a place to stay! Thank you!

Unique, luxury, spacious 4 bedroom cottage in the heart of picturesque Rainow, Cheshire. Sleeps up to 9 comfortably. Perfect for exploring the eastern point of the Peak District and close to the amenities of Macclesfield. The property is a converted pub and dates back to 1810. But has recently been lovingly restored and updated to modern standards, without loosing its natural charm. The property is situated next to the main pub in Rainow, The Robin Hood, which serves hot food through the day.
Recently restored and renovated, extremely spacious character cottage, oozing with charm. Perched on the side of the peak district hills in beautiful Rainow, with magical, open views. Well-equipped for the perfect Peak District stay.
Rainow is a beautiful village and civil parish in Cheshire, England, in the valley of the River Dean and next to the B5470 road between Macclesfield and Kettleshulme. It straddles the eastern side of the Peak District border of Derbyshire and Cheshire. The area is popular among nature observers, walkers, cyclists and para-gliders as well as those looking for romantic stays. The village lies in Cheshire's portion of the Peak District, just North East of the substantial town of Macclesfield; but visitors would never know it, for the hill of Kerridge shields Rainow on the Western side, while to the East, rise some of the highest of the region's peaks - Cat’s Tor and Shining Tor.  The ridge here at “The Tors” marks the parish boundary, (it's a large parish for a small village) and offers wonderful views across the Goyt Valley, with its reservoirs and forests.  Views from Kerridge are no less spectacular, stretching right across the Cheshire plain to the Welsh mountains.  "Rainow" derives from the Old English for "Raven Low" - "low" meaning "hill" in these parts  - and it is an indication of how bleak an environment this would have been in ancient times.  Nevertheless, the village was right at the heart of things, for ancient trackways met here, in the days when ridges were the best places to run packhorse routes; one went North along Kerridge, (literally, "Key Ridge") while an all important route for Cheshire salt ran West-East.  These ancient ways now make for great walking; the Gritstone Trail also skirts the village, while a veritable maze of local paths can take the walker in any direction, to Windgather Rocks, Tegg's Nose, Pym Chair - resonant names for extraordinary places.  At Tegg's Nose Country Park, a few miles South, there is a visitors' centre and a fascinating archaeological trail to follow on foot. The most prominent local feature, (and great short walk destination) is White Nancy, a folly standing at the Bollington end of Kerridge.  Originally the site of a beacon that would have been lit to warn of foreign invasion, the strange, bell-shaped structure was built to celebrate victory over Napoleon, and was a summer house.  Today it is simply a solid lump of a structure, but it has always been painted white.  The origin of "Nancy" is not certain, but may have been taken from the name of one of horses used to pull building materials up the very steep hill. There are numerous ancient standing stones and bronze age tumuli dotted around the area, testament to an unbroken line of settlement, though the village itself did not really get going until the 18th century, when the River Dean was first used to power early cotton mills.  Two of these venerable buildings still stand; Ingersley Vale Mill, built in 1809, was famous for having the second largest water wheel in the country - beaten only by the great Laxey Wheel, on the Isle of Man.  Rainow's prosperity was short-lived, however, as Bollington, only a mile away, had access to the newly dug canal and thus supplies of coal to fuel new, steam-powered mills.  The coming of the railway to Macclesfield did even more to drag the centre of industry away to the West, so that today one would never guess as to the village's industrial past. Coal was mined in the 19th century out of the East side of Kerridge. One of the mines was known as the California drift mine, after one of the local Vare family that had taken part in the Gold Rush there in 1849. The name was shortened to Cali; the stretch of the River Dean that runs along the foot of Kerridge is still known locally as Cali Brook. The Quebec drift mines were dug on the South slope of Big Low, named, again after another Vare family member who had worked in Canada. Quarries are still a feature of the West side of Kerridge, but the predominant view all around Rainow is heavily rural; green pastures, woods and trickling streams. At The Oaks, an area of woodland near Thornsett farm, there is a remnant of the ancient woodland that would have once covered these hills; the oaks in question are Sessile Oak, an upland species, clearly differing from the Common Oak found on the Cheshire Plain. While it may lack shops, the village is blessed with a fine selection of pubs:- on Macclesfield Road, The Highwayman is a traditional 17th century country pub, serving Thwaites bitter and excellent home-cooked food. The Rising Sun offers equally fine ales and  food, while The Robin Hood Inn on Church Brow is open all day for  food and drink, seven days a week.  It has a function room for up to 80 people, making it ideal for large gatherings. At Common Barn Farm there is a tea shop catering for ramblers on the Rainow Ring walkers' footpath.  Jane Osmond's Studio/Gallery at Cesterbridge Cottage, Kerridge End is open to visitors between 10am and 5pm on weekdays. Jane produces original prints, mostly etchings and silk-screens of our local landscape, and teaches the print technique at her studio. For the superstitious, or the ghost hunters among you, the historical records reveal two oddities:- "Two Rainow women, Ellen Beech and Anne Osbalderton, were hanged after the 1656 Michelmas Assizes at Chester for practising "certain arts from which wicked and devilish acts certain people of Rainow fell ill and died"."
  • Great place, lovely size. Fully equipped kitchen. Pub just down the road that serves amazing tapas. Really lovely break.

  • The cottage is exactly as described,it has some great stylish touches in the beautiful old building. Beds were comfy and the cottage was cosy and warm. We loved the different spaces to relax, the local pub was also very welcoming. Highly recommended for exploring the peak district. It is close to the road however there wasn't much traffic at night.

  • We had an incredible family holiday at Old Jockey Cottage! We can't recommend it highly enough. It was clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and the location is simply stunning. Michael is a great host, with very clear directions and instructions. The cottage is very spacious, well heated, and has all the facilities for a great break away. We hope to stay again in the future!

Bijou guest house, in splendid isolation! Stay in our converted piggery, built out of local stone and set in lovely grounds on the edge of Ipstones. Set back from a narrow country road which is barely trafficed, you will feel the stresses of modern life slip away. The Piggery is decorated as a tiny house, complete with its own shower and toilet and warmed by underfloor heating. The Piggery is a great base for visits to Alton Towers, The Peak District, The Potteries and for outdoor pursuits.
We are in the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands, with walks into the Churnet valley on the door step. In September you can hear the resident stags rutting in the Churnet woods when the sun starts to set. You could walk down to Frogall by the canal and steam railway watching out for Kingfishers and with an ear open for woodpeckers. Hetty's tearoom is a lovely cafe/restaurant, recently opened in an old mill-building on the canal, which serves fabulous light snacks (the obligatory Staffordshire oatcake!) and a variety of cakes, including gluten free. We are 15 mins from the spectacular Roaches, with lovely walks of elevation, gritstone and heathers. (Stop off at The Lazy Trout in Meerbrook for excellent food). Ilam and Dovedale are highly recommended as a pretty but unique Staffordshire village with the famous stepping stones and flat topped hill. Our family lived there for generations, so Dad or I can probably bore the bones of you with Ilam knowledge! I'll leave it for you to ask... For cyclists the area is superb! There are many routes, challenging hill climbs and great training ground for serious competitors. For those after something more leisurely, try the Manifold Valley cycle track, through the cast scenery of the White Peaks. look out for Thor's Cave and sit by the river at the Manifold cafe with a refreshment. For gardeners I recommend a visit to Trentham Gardens, quite breathtaking planting in the restored gardens by Europe's finest designers (and also attractive cabin retail units). Locally, Consall Hall at the head of the Churnet Valley has beautiful landscaped gardens, splendid in Spring with the Rhodedendrons and Azalaes in flower. The iconic Chatsworth Hall is a lovely country drive away and for those looking for Instrusrial history, Stoke-on -Trent is the place for you! Gladstone Pottery is an excellent museum, I don't know anyone who hasn't been fascinated with a day there, or come home without having tried to throw a pot or paint a china flower! Emma Bridgewater, she of the spotty mugs, has breathed some life back into Stoke with her highly successful factory. It is worth a visit to the factory shop and the boho/Industrial cool cafe and decorating studio. After all that you will be so glad to sink onto the super comfy double bed or sip some wino on the patio, fire pit blazing and soak up the complete peace and quiet.
Ipstones is a pretty village in the Staffordshire moorlands with a thriving community spirit. With three pubs, a shop and butchers to cater for your needs, friendly locals abound and frequent music nights (Sunday night acoustic night at The Sea Lion). The walking surrounding The Piggery is excellent - it is just off the Staffordshire Way, on the doorstep of Consall and Froghall Warf, which use the industrial heritage to great use with canal cafes and pubs and steam railway. The ale rail is a great way to enjoy what local beers and ciders are around with a trip on the train! f you don't want to think about cooking on your break we have two pubs which serve food in the village ( and one for people looking for a traditional local with a great range of whisky). They are 10 minutes walk down the country lane, so park up and potter down! I recommend The Marquis of Granby for a great meal at really good prices. it is popular round here though, so booking is necessary! There are a many other recommendations around, with Leek, Ashbourne , Cheadle and Buxton offering plenty for every palette.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Piggery. Easy to find, everything you could wish for for a short stay. Made to feel at home straightaway and great information about the local area. Some clever design makes it feel bigger than you think inside with its high ceilings and sky lights and the heated floor is lovely! Will definitely be returning!

    Lisbeth2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, quirky and comfortable space in a beautiful location. Plenty of things to do around the area and some fantastic places to eat. Would recommend the marquis of granby for amazing pub food just a 10 minute walk away! So Thai in leek was also amazing. Hosts were fantastic and gave us lots of recommendations, would definitely return.

    Emma2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cute little getaway! Phillipa was quick at responding and recommending places for us to eat nearby. Great surroundings, bonus with the sheep and horses!

    Elizabeth2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The piggery is in a lovely setting with plenty of walks in the village.

    Daniel2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to stay. Everything you could need for a short break. And the underfloor heating was a delight!

    Gary2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place for a couple of 2 to spend a night, it’s so cosy and warm and you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door, we was greeted so warmly and made feel comfortable straight away! We was recommended a few places to eat where we could get dinner and breakfast, the host was so lovely and he made sure we literally had everything we needed and he didn’t let us leave without saying goodbye and asking how everything was, I don’t have 1 bad thing to say about this place! 100% would recommend and if I’m ever in the area again I would definitely come back!

    Chantal2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little place with all the amenities you could possibly need, fully equipped with a fridge, stove, kettle & microwave (which certainly came in handy). Unfortunately our car broke down leaving us stranded, Pip was kind enough to offer us a lift to Alton Towers in the morning, really going above and beyond to save what was otherwise a bit of a disaster of a trip. Thank you Pip, we'll certainly be back under better circumstances!!

    James2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Piggery is compact but contains everything you need for a short stay. Pip was lovely and very welcoming. It was quite basic as it's such a bijou little place but this wasn't an issue as it was just a place to stay after a long day out. The bed was very comfortable with nice bedding and everything was clean. The location on a farm was great and even though the main dwelling is right next door privacy was not an issue. The nearest shop and pubs were a short walk away down a lane and through the village and Ipstones is well placed for trips into the Staffordshire countryside or into the Peak District.

  • The Wolery is a wonderful place to stay. My partner and myself came for Alton Towers but there are so many lovely walks and other things to do in the area we did some exploring too - helped by all the guides left by Michelle. The cottage is lovely, really clean and cosy and in a quiet location, the directions provided are definitely necessary but it's so worth it! The little touches with the milk, butter and cookies were so appreciated and made our stay so comfortable. We'd love to visit again!

A single room in a lovely little detached house, 15-20 mins walk from Manchester Airport train station (using Google Maps) with overnight parking. Very close to all transport links. Way cheaper than the airport Hilton and much cosier! The room itself is quite unique, with a considerable amount of pop culture paraphernalia to browse. Happy to leave guests to their own devices, or to chill out and watch a film with me in the living room - whatever works! Do let me know if you've any questions.
Single bedroom in a relatively new-build area, with a large driveway for parking. Bed is a standard 6' day bed with solid wood sides. Use of all shared amenities: upstairs bathroom/downstairs WC; living room with large TV/home cinema setup; kitchen with washing machine, microwave... all mod cons! Large rear garden with patio furniture (smoking outside, thanks). Plenty of space in the fridge, plus fibre broadband access. I also have a lovely dog, a Jack Russell cross called Izzy - sometimes she's with me, other times she's with my folks. She's well looked after no matter where she is! Check-in time is 8pm on weekdays, but happy for you to arrive anytime after midday on weekends if arranged prior to your stay. Give me a shout if you’ve any questions :-)
Very close to the airport, which is the main draw really - couple of local parks nearby, and the lovely Airport Pub which has a beer garden overlooking the runway. A great hidden gem only a short taxi ride away. Chinese and Indian takeaways are two minutes' walk round the corner, along with a convenience store open till 10pm. McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Domino's Pizza are all situated nearby on Wythenshawe Civic Centre.

David is a very nice host, the room was amazing and if I am flying out again at 7am I will be staying here again. I would also like to give David an "Oscar" for his film knowledge. If you stay you will know what I mean.

Welcome to the all new Pamper Van, Ruby! This brand new mobile home is a luxurious rural retreat. The stunning secluded location will make you feel a million miles from anywhere, but there is plenty to do in the local area. Complete with hot tub Ruby offers a bespoke break for up to 4 people. Choose from a holiday for a girly break with pamper treatments or a romantic escape for two. Whatever you do, your woodland surroundings will work their quiet magic on you.
Whether you are in need of some much needed rest and relaxation, looking for some peace and quiet, or just want to escape into the country to explore Staffordshire’s surrounding attractions, The Pamper Van can accommodate your every need.
Located approximately 4 miles away from Fairboroughs Farm, Leek market town is a haven for lovers of antiques and factory shops and also has a weekly outdoor market selling an array of goods. The beautiful spa town of Buxton is a ‘must visit’ for any visitors to the area. Buxton lies just outside the National Park boundaries, but is the most important town for most of the western and central Peak. The site has been occupied since at least Roman times. The Romans were attracted by the warm springs and built baths here and for the following centuries the springs have been a major source of income and importance for Buxton. We are located in the Staffordshire Moorlands on the edge of The Peak District. A perfect base for sight seeing what the area has to offer. Alton Towers is approximately 20 minutes away.

Why not come and relax in our cosy hobbit retreat. Totally private and in your own exclusive area, tucked away in a corner of the glorious Cheshire countryside, a perfect snug for a romantic getaway. The snug is on the Cheshire/Shropshire/Staffordshire border with many places to visit in the immediate vicinity, Plus many great pubs serving excellent food, and local pretty walks. The snug is situated on its own in our top paddock ensuring total exclusivity to ensure maximum tranquillity
If you're looking for magical adventure and would like to step out of reality and rest a while then look no further! The Hobbitesque Snug is a quirky and unique experience, something a little different, and very romantic with its cosy wooden structure which smells of pine inside and its Hobbit like round windows and door. At night time all you can hear are the owls hooting, foxes barking and bats all around. It’s a special place to be close to nature. It is a unique stay whether in the glorious sunshine, the driving wind and rain or the most cozy is the cold frosty wintertime. The snug has 2 rooms, 1 lounge area which has a small sofa bed and 1 bedroom which has a small double bed - the bedroom is separated by a round hole which you climb through and has curtains for privacy. Please see photos. There is a separate converted rustic hut outside the snug that has the toilet/shower and sink. (see photos) We have the facilities to sleep 3 people (a small sofa bed which would accommodate a child or small adult, and a small double bed) but the snug is ideally suited for a couple. We believe in taking away all the modern stresses in todays lifestyle so do not provide Wifi, though there is a TV and DVD player should you wish to watch it, or maybe relax over a glass of wine and watch a roaring log fire whilst toasting marshmallows... there is a barbeque for you to use and a local butcher a mile away who can supply organic meat of superb quality. The snug is equipped with a fridge, microwave, kettle, and a toaster. We provide a bag of logs for outdoor log fires and marshmallows for toasting upon request (£10) Tea, coffee and biscuits are complimentary, and organic semi-skimmed milk will be in your fridge. Please just ask if you prefer a milk alternative. Please also let us know if you would like to purchase barbeque coals. Because of the quirky nature of the cozy cabin retreat, there are steps and round doors to climb through in to the snug and therefore unsuitable for anybody with mobility issues. You will need a car as we are in the middle of nowhere :) For Winter stays (October - April) please note that due to ground conditions it may not be possible to drive up to the Hobbit house, we have a private yard outside our house where you can park your car and walk up to the retreat, please bring your wellies and waterproof jacket incase it’s rainy :-) No dogs please.
We are perfectly situated for all sorts of attractions such as Bridgemere Gardens (1 mile away) Dagfield Antique Emporium and Tea rooms (2 miles away) Within 2-3 miles there are gastro pubs in either direction, the Boars Head (a trendy upmarket place to drink and eat with an extensive gastro menu)The Swan at Wynbunbury (famous for its leaning church and real ales and craft lagers amazing food!) and the Chetwood Arms (traditional pub with homecooked scrummy food) Then there is Nantwich, the local town which is a pretty little market town full of boutiques and little independent coffee shops and close by to that is the 'Secret Bunker' only a short drive away. About a 30 minute drive away you can visit the world famous World of Wedgewood, Trentham gardens and the Monkey forest. We are also well situated for the historic City of Chester and Chester Zoo, and the beautiful Tatton Park. We have a comprehensive guide to local attractions, coffee shops and recommended places to eat inside the cosy cabin retreat.

  • Hilary's place is amazing! A really comfortable, spacious annexe which feels so welcoming as soon as you open the door. There is plenty of room and even a private space in the garden...which you must walk around...absolutely beautiful. I cannot think of one extra thing that Hilary could have done....she really knows how to make you feel welcome. The Castle pub is a few minutes walk away and food was great. I would definitely recommend a stay here....i just wish i had more stars than 5 to rate it with! Thank you so much Hilary...you have a hidden gem of an annexe and have made it outstandingly homely. • Stayed for 2 nights and this was my first Airbnb experience and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay or better hosts! Fabulous space, amazing garden and the little touches like milk and cookies just topped it all off. I dont think you will find a better place in the area. Perfect just does not do this place justice!

    Laura2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was much more spacious than I thought. The personal touches were amazing, you were made to feel very welcome and their garden was fantastic. Five star for quality of everything. Five star for cleanliness. Five star for location, very peaceful.

  • Quiet, cozy , very clean, super comfy bed- what else do you need? Andy and Val are super nice hosts and made me feel at ease at their place- not that I saw much of them as the room enjoyed quite an independent position in the house. Highly recommended especially for professionals who are looking for a homely cozy place after work!

    Anna2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Andy is absolutely the nicest person on earth. His hospitality and kindness were beyond imagination. The place was super-clean, comfortable, neat and cosy. I loved every single bit of it. Highly recommended!

  • Great place, Andy was really helpful with me arriving late after a shift at the local hospital, very accommodating.

    Kimberley2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great house, great host. Everything in the house is stylish, like new and spotlessly clean. Room is on the ground floor, and Andy spends most of his time on the first floor where he has a separate living room, so you don’t feel like you’re intruding on his private space. So many thoughtful touches, eg Andy had cleared a shelf for me in the fridge plus my own cabinet in the bathroom. It was easy to park outside the house at any time of day.

    Anna2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Just an absolutely wonderful host; showed real care and willingness to help on both a host and human level, and truly went above and beyond. You cannot go wrong with Andy, you just can't.

From start to finish Elizabeth was a pleasure to deal with, letting us know that we could check in earlier if we wanted and even offered us a lie in the next morning with late check out! The shack itself is a fantastic space, perfect for 2, warm and cosy and a stones throw from the town! So clean and stylish, it’s more than we could’ve asked for! The breakfast was such a delightful touch, pastries, toast and cereal! Thanks so much for a perfect stay!

  • Johanna’s flat is great and with the autonomous arrival/departure, allows an independent stay. As others have commented, the bathroom is rather tired but you can see that from the photos so you know in advance and the shower works well. The rest of the flat is well apportioned, providing an area to relax and watch TV, a kitchen to cook and a comfy bed with some lovely touches. Much better than a boring hotel room and well positioned between Northwich and Hartford. Highly recommended and I would like to stay here again when I am next in Northwich. Thanks Johanna!

    Jennifer2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Johanna's apartment is located close to public transport in Northwich, and an easy walk to shops pubs and take a way restaurants. It is well appointed and comfortable, we would recommend it to anybody wishing to stay in the Northwich area. Thanks Johanna once again

  • I would recommend the apartment, quite cosy with a beautiful view, location is also ideal with bigger cities not being too far with driving.
