  • The stay in the Shepherds Hut was so lovely. It is decorated to a high standard, even the radiators are to die for! Perfect little getaway where we spent our Saturday in Southwold, followed by a Sunday exploring Dunwich Heath. Diane left us essential items and fresh bread/slices of cake! The log burner was perfect after a long day out exploring. So peaceful, relaxing and cosy! We will definitely try to rebook in the summer. A must visit and excellent value for money!

  • A lovely place to stay, a great location for the Suffolk Coast. The hut is very cosy, lovely bread, cake etc on arrival. Really enjoyed our night there.

  • Idyllic stay, perfect location to unwind, facilities cater to all needs, comfy bed, Diane was a great host - welcoming with fresh bread and snacks provided! Highly recommend..

  • Really lovely place to stay, so clean and spacious (moreso than expected) with lovely touches like homemade bread and lager in the fridge. The fire was lovely also. It wasn’t very clear where it was located until we were right outside the property and that was a little stressful, also the oven was manually lit and I had to ask how to work it so I felt a bother having to keep asking dianne questions but she did respond quickly. all round excellent choice.

    Cat2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation was more spacious than we had expected, comfortable bed, large shower and an amazing log burner. Cakes and fresh baked bread delicious.

Chestnut Barns is hidden deep in the Suffolk countryside within a peaceful rural location. The barn provides contemporary, comfortable accommodation and is situated a few miles from local amenities. The Suffolk heritage coast is 15 minutes drive away.
The whole barn is newly renovated and is fully equipped with TV, dish washer, washing machine, kettle, microwave oven and toaster. There is Wi-fi however it is worth mentioning that due to the rural location its not the fastest connection! The kitchen and lounge is open plan with south facing veranda. The bedroom is a good size with ample room for a child's cot. Wet room bathroom accommodates a new shower and sink unit, there is also a separate WC with sink alongside the bedroom. For guests staying during the colder months there is underfloor heating throughout and an electric stove.
There are many wonderful places to visit close by including St Peters brewery and an award winning family run pub 10 minutes walk down to the village. The property is close to the Suffolk heritage coast and provides the perfect base for exploring the coast and woodlands, including Southwold, Walberswick, Dunwich, Thorpness and Aldburgh. Suffolk coast and heaths are recognised as areas of outstanding natural beauty and have Ramsar Site conservation status. RSPB sites at Minsmere offer beautiful walks through the grassland and woods.
  • We just spent a wonderfull 2 nights at Chestnut Barns. Everything was just as others have said. Marg was very welcoming and helpful. Very peaceful and relaxing stay. A real gem. Would definitely recommend it.

  • Margy and Ron were extremely helpful and flexible with last minute changes of dates and any other queries. Chestnut Barns is a lovely place with everything you need for a comfortable, self-catering break. It is close enough to the coast and many popular sites - Southwold, Walberswick, Minsmere, Dunwich etc. but set in the middle of countryside just outside of Halesworth for peace and relaxation. It has been a very enjoyable stay, even in the winter months.

    Helena2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very cosy cute Barn, lovely views and the stars at night are amazing as it's so dark. Such a relaxed stay would recommend and hope to return in the summer x

  • Our second visit - lovely and peaceful. Great hosts.

    David2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Margy & Ron’s brilliant cottage, and myself and my girlfriend were very happy with our stay. The rural location was perfect for us to getaway, and it was exactly what we were hoping for. The cottage has a lot of great amenities and it is more than sufficiently spacious. Every room is very well decorated, and it felt very homely. I could not recommend staying here highly enough if you’re looking for a great cosy getaway in a lovely setting.

    Samuel2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place which is well looked after. Hosts are very nice and friendly. Would definitely stop here again.

We are in the middle of Suffolk countryside, surrounded by fields with amazing views, colourful sunrises & sunsets. There is a maze of footpath & permitted walks right on our door-step. Ideal for that quiet week-end. Spectacular thunderstorms sometimes occur as the cloud formations follow the river valleys. During these storms rain-bows appear. We've not yet found a pot of gold though! At night if the sky is cloudless you can see all the stars & spot the well-known constellations.
This is our little smallholding which we are renovating. We have a mixture of animals which include ponies, chickens, ducks & dog. You will be staying in your very own warm & cozy private space with a fully fitted & equipped kitchen, solar heated shower with plenty of hot water & upstairs bed-room with a star gazing window over the bed. There's even an upstairs loo so you don't have to go downstairs at night. There's wi-fi and a digital radio but no TV Being 'rural' we have been somewhat overlooked by BT and although it normally works well there are occasions when it is slow or non-existant! Patience is then needed as it will come back. Peak times such as directly after school children get home is one example. In the fridge there's delicious fresh eggs from our flock of free range Marans along with milk, butter, brown & white bread plus three types of cereals in the cupboard not forgetting marmalade & honey, all for a yummy breakfast! Perfect for vegetarians too. There's no lounge or sofa due to lack of space but there are two five star rated padded camp chairs (the purple & black items in the photographs). These have good reviews from past guests & can be used in many parts of the space being very portable. They work well in the porch which, although small, is a warm bright and a pleasant place to sit. The camp table complements the space. In summer time they can be used outside on the paved area to enjoy the evening plus star watching later. Being padded you won't get cold undersides.
We are in the middle of rural farmed Suffolk with far reaching views. There is little road noise. Places of interest are all within easy reach. Plenty of walks on footpaths & permissive routes. Rumburgh is a small village with its own very popular pub. There are many easy circular cycle routes suitable for everyone.
  • A cosy, beautiful place to stay which feels like a true escape. The annex is very well designed, warm, spacious and spotlessly clean. The little farm is lovely with horses, chickens and Boudicca the dog! We felt so welcome, loved the extra touches like the fresh eggs and breakfast items. Would definitely return in future!

  • We had a great 2 night stay. It's a really lovely peaceful apartment, spotlessly clean and of a very high standard. The fresh eggs for breakfast were wonderful. Great location for exploring the area and Edward was a lovely friendly host. Would definitely go back for another stay.

    Liz2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and comfortable furnished space in beautiful surroundings! Edward is a very good host, and the barn is fitted throughout to the highest standard. It’s a marvellous place from which to explore the area, especially if you enjoy walking.

" The Cabin" is a cosy room situated in the garden of Town House .A self-contained cabin with a separate shower room about 10 metres away. Double bed but can provide travel cot and/or a camp bed if requested. Enjoy the wildlife that surrounds you and many wild flowers in the garden and paddock- primroses, cowslips, violets and 2 types of orchids. Sit outside and have a drink and BBQ or relax in the cabin and light the log burner. Meet Jack the pony and sample freshly laid eggs !
A great space for anyone that needs to " switch off "and wants to relax . Enjoy the peace and quiet in the Suffolk countryside.
Very rural location. 3.5 miles from the nearest shops in Halesworth. Halesworth is a market town in north east Suffolk about 10 miles inland from the Suffolk Heritage coast - Southwold, RSPB Minsmere, Blythburgh . There is no pub in Linstead but I can recommend several local pubs .
  • As the place is a good walk from any sort of shop, the excellent selection of goods provided is most eelcome Don't miss out on the eggs.

  • Lovey place. Cosy and warm. Fire was made and ready for our arrival and hut is sparking clean. A really fun and lovely place to stay and just half an hour to the coast. Thank you!

  • Superb little spot. great for walks and seaside trips. Would definitely stay again or send friends here.

  • Clean, Cosy, comfortable cabin with log burner and radiator. Lots of lovely personal touches like extra blankets and hot water bottles for our January stay and treats in the fridge, yoghurt and fresh eggs. We specifically went to have a digital detox so were happy to be phone free and relax by the fire. The shower is really nice and there was plenty of hot water and a heated towel rail. Off street parking was ample and we had a really good nights sleep. Jack the pony is very cute too. Would happily visit again any time of year.

  • A fantastic venue for a winter break, Sarah’s cabin was brilliantly stocked with tea, coffee, milk and everything needed for breakfast including tasty eggs. The log burner kept us toasty and warm. Toilet and shower a few meters away. Lovely rural location with some great cycling on quiet country lanes, including the option of a very pleasant and highly recommended circular ride to Southwold. Sarah is a great host.

Only 15 minutes from Southwold, Walberswick and Dunwich and 5 minutes from the charming market town of Halesworth with its excellent range of pubs and restaurants. Totally private and self-contained, with a verandah, dog-friendly garden and parking. Great for romantic breaks or family holidays. Message Sarah :)
Robin's Rest is a new bungalow, yet has a cottage feel, nestled in a private corner of the Suffolk countryside. It is perfect if you wish to relax in complete privacy with your own securely fenced garden that is not overlooked and decked verandah, complete with bistro set for enjoying a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Additional garden chairs are in the storage box. There is a horseshoe driveway and parking for two cars as well as a secure cycle shed for storage of bikes or any other items, like pushchairs. Wetsuits, bodyboards and crab-lines are all available for guests to borrow. The living accommodation offers seating, sleeping and dining for up to four guests. The comfortable sofa bed can be made up for your arrival or additional bedding left in the bedroom for you to assemble yourself. Please let me know if you'll be using the sofa bed. The kitchen contains all cooking /eating utensils, cutlery, mugs, range of glasses, washing-up liquid/cloth/scourer, tea-towels, chopping boards and tray. Tea and coffee (including decaffeinated) and sugar/sweetener is provided. There are two phone charging points in one of the plug sockets. The living area has two sofas - the corner sofa is the sofa bed and should stay in that corner, but the other sofa can be moved as required to look into the garden, face the other sofa across the coffee table or moved around for TV viewing. A DVD player is connected to the TV which has all Freeview channels. DVDs and games are provided as well as a selection of information about the local area. The bedroom has a king-size bed, two roomy built-in wardrobes with hangers, bedside cabinets and lamps. There is a full size mirror and hairdryer. I have a good quality travel cot/changing mat as well as a sturdy highchair on request. The bright, airy shower-room has a double shower with toiletries, hand and bath towels for each guest, loo, sink with storage underneath, a well lit mirror and shaving point. There is a useful coat cupboard with clothes dryer, ironing board/iron and a 'doggie box' that contains throws for the sofas, old towels, a drinking bowl, doggie treats and poo bags. A bin is provided in the garden for the disposal of any dog poo.
Walpole is a quiet village, with some lovely circular walks and excellent cycling. The Harmony Centre is situated close by to Robin's Rest which offers a range of alternative therapies. Halesworth is a 5 minute drive away and has a large Co-op supermarket (with bakery), a wide range of local shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes, a Wednesday market, library, Town Trail, and large park (with play area and skatepark). There is a Boots chemist and an emergency minor injuries service at the doctors surgery (see info folder).
  • We’ve just returned from a weekend at Sarah’s place, our fourth. We feel so comfortable there and would highly recommend it. The location is convenient for Halesworth town with its shops, pubs and green spaces. The Suffolk coast is close by car. There is so much to do in the area and then you return to the haven of Sarah’s place. This was our first visit as dog owners. Daisy and her cousin were most welcome and Sarah has a well stocked ‘doggy box’. We love it here 😍

  • Stayed here for a birthday treat. Absolutely perfect stay. Great location and amenities, especially the visitor book with lots of info in for local attractions etc. Thank you, Sarah!

  • Robin's rest is the perfect place to have a weekend getaway with your family. Very peaceful, I really enjoyed seatting outside in the back garden reading a book with a warm blanket and a cup of tea while my kids were inside playing. The cabin is equipped with everything that you may need, and the host Sarah is very nice and friendly. Highly recommended!

    Letizia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned after 4 nights at Robin's Rest and I have to say this was the best stay we ever had! We have had a few! But this little bungalow was perfect for us in every way, we took our small dog and there was a wonderful fully fenced off garden with a decking and enough grass for her to run around and sniff the 'sniffs' with particular mention to the rabbit sniffs that she got very excited about! She particularly enjoyed sitting on the decking on 'guard' to make sure none of those pesky hoppers got in to the garden! Sarah had provided pooh bags, treats, even food, blankets and throws for the sofas and even a special outside bin for the pooh bags. The kitchen was great very self contained with lovely clean units and lots of work space, I particularly liked the recycling boxes with clear instructions of how to use them. There was so much information in the folder that Sarah had put together, if you wanted to see it, do it, find it, it was in that folder and everything that wasn't, was clearly labelled and/or explained. There was lots of cupboard space, 2 wardrobes with a deep shelf each and plenty of room for a shoes, bags and cases, there were also 2 bedside cabinets with 3 drawers each, which was great for underwear and make up and things. The bed was a king size which I was very pleased about, I don't like small beds! There was a large shower with plenty of hot water and complimentary and very good quality toiletries, I never normally use them as they tend to be cheap and sometimes nasty, but these were Tresemme and Soap and Glory, the toilet paper was also a good quality tissue. There were also complimentary teas, coffees and sugar, which I was very pleased to find as I had forgotten my sweeteners only to find a jar with lots in! Everywhere was absolutely spotless, so very clean, compact and well organised. I would definitely recommend Sarah's place, we will definitely visit again.

  • We really enjoyed our stay with Rosie, which we booked at the last minute. The house is extremely stylish and spotlessly clean. We had a good night's sleep in a comfy bed and enjoyed an interesting conversation with Rosie in the morning. We'd definitely stay there again.

  • An outstanding place to stay! Stylish ultra clean interiors, wonderfully quiet for a great night's sleep, very close to a characterful market town and also to Southwold, and to top it all the most charismatic hostess who had so much joie de vivre that the whole experience was the best ever; better than any hotel. Our little wooden cabin, in Walpole, Suffolk is set on its own within our 3/4 acre peaceful and abundant garden and is ideal for two people, either as a quiet retreat or as a place to explore the beautiful suffolk coastline approx 10 miles away
The cabin is self contained and recently refurbished with 3 rooms: a small kitchen (equipped with a 2 ring gas hob, microwave and fridge), plus the basics when you arrive to make a cup of tea or coffee with milk and cereals for your breakfast. There is a shower room and a bed / sitting room with a small TV and DVD player, a selection of books and DVD’s and french windows facing south. Situated at the top of our beautiful garden there is space to sit privately behind the cabin. We grow much of our own produce including soft fruit and vegetables, mixed fruit trees and have a small flock of 5 hens! Walpole is a small village 2 1/2 miles west of Halesworth on the B1117, known for it's beautiful old chapel, described as 'one of the most intriguing buildings in east anglia' a place of independent and non conformist worship since the mid 17th century! Used now for occasional concerts and meetings and well worth a visit. Our cabin is an ideal spot from which to explore the local county-side and the suffolk coast. We can explain where the local walks are (being a dog owner we walk them often!) and we are 10 miles from the coastal town of Southwold and the picturesque fishing village of Walberswick across the River Blyth. We are also 10 miles from RSPB Minsmere reserve and 15 from Snape Maltings. Our local market town of Halesworth (5 mins drive away) still has many family run small businesses, cafes and pubs, an active arts centre with a theatre and weekly film showings plus a train station with an hourly service to Ipswich (change here for connections to London, Liverpool street) and Lowestoft.
We still feel in coastal suffolk that we are tucked away from the hustle and bustle of busy life but are easily accessible by road or trains from London.
  • Very clean and cosy. It has everything you need and more. Lots of information on local walks and places to visit. I could not fault the accommodation at all. Great for local walks and only a short drive to the next town. In particular, we liked The White Hart with great food and a great band. Focus the organic shop and cafe is worth going in. Very frioendly with great food and gifts to buy.

  • Had a great time exploring the local area and coast. Mary and Bob were lovely relaxed hosts, available but happy to leave you to it. The cabin itself was warm and cosy with all you need for a quiet few days break.

    Lea2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for New Year. Very peaceful and good for exploring Suffolk like Southwold and Dunwich beach just 30 mins drive. Warm and comfortable. Everything you need in the kitchen plus cereals, milk, fresh coffee and some extra New Year touches like bubbly and chocolates. Good communication with hosts as needed. Highly recommend.

    Breda2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had considered a B&B but wanted something unique and different yet homely and this property delivered on all counts. The cabin was so well appointed and clearly a lot of thought had gone into what would be helpful to have on our arrival such as milk, cereals, tea, coffee, sugar etc. Whilst we visited in the winter it was well insulated and so we were nice and toasty. Nice and private and served as an excellent base to explore the area. Southwold/Walberswick/Dunwich all within 20 mins drive.

    Mark2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and Bob are wonderful hosts and were quick to respond to any questions we had as well as supplying fresh ground coffee, milk and some beautiful garden flowers, a lovely touch. Lots of information about the local area was readily available. The cabin was warm and cosy, with extra blankets too, although they were not needed. We visited some excellent nature reserves and RSPB sites. Pretty towns such as Aldeburgh and Southwold are only 25 minutes away. All in all a great four days. Thanks again Mary and Bob.

This single storey accommodation was superbly renovated with old beams and shutters complimented quality furnishings, accessories and equipment throughout. The private deck, perched next to the moat, is an idyllic spot to simply relax and enjoy the surroundings and wildlife. The coast is only a 15 minute drive away and if you bring your own rods, you can fish in the pond.
Our guests say: "We loved our home from home in the Milk Parlour. The wine and biscuits were a lovely touch. The Milk Parlour is in a great location for all the visits we made: Southwold, Aldeburgh, Minsmere, Blythburgh Church and a bus ride to Norwich etc. We stayed a week and enjoyed coming back to the peace of the garden. The highlight of the garden was watching the mother duck and her nine ducklings in the moat."
Milk Parlour lies in the village of Spexhall, surrounded by the idyllic Suffolk countryside offering country walks or cycling and easy access to the old market towns of Bungay, Beccles and Halesworth with an excellent array of local shop and eateries. The 500 year old ‘Huntsman and Hounds’ pub is approximately a ten minute walk away and, as well as offering good cuisine by the fire or in the mature gardens. The Suffolk Heritage Coast to the east includes the popular Georgian seafront town of Southwold, home to the Adnams Sole Bay brewery. There are excellent sporting and leisure facilities in the area including a number of golf courses, sailing and water sports on the river estuaries as well as fishing, horse-riding and bird-watching.
  • Fantastic accommodation and hospitality, would definitely recommend a stay at the Milk Parlour.

Bridge House was built in 1903 as a home and office to an Edwardian shoe shop, which is now the popular Hideout Cafe. It is a family home full of character with lovely stained glass windows and an eclectic mix of art work and artefacts! The front door looks out onto the pedestrianised Thoroughfare in the old fashioned, friendly town of Halesworth, so amenities are easy to access. Guests can enjoy the peace and quiet of our large garden at the back which runs alongside the river.
Guests enjoy eating a leisurely breakfast of cereals, fruit and yogurt, with unlimited supplies of toast, tea and freshly ground coffee in our lovely dining room featuring a beautiful stained glass window which overlooks the garden. For a full English breakfast with locally sourced food, we ask for £5 to be paid as and when you would like it. Our coffee beans from a Suffolk company are the best in town and come from the Hideout Café!
We love the town because it still retains the old fashioned friendly atmosphere with family run shops and pedestrianised street. There are three pubs, lots of cafes and a local theatre. We love biking on the cycle track and beyond and there are many wonderful walks. The coast is only 8 miles away.
  • What a charming home, I cannot recommend this accomodation highly enough. Right on the quiet main street of Halesworth, 5 minutes walk from the railway station, this 19th century town house is wonderful and has a great personality. Full of origional old features and decorated artistically by it's creative owners. The beds are super comfy and the continental breakfast abundant and tasty. With the ikeafication of the world, this beautiful house is a refreshing tonic, celebrating individuality.

The studio is a smart single-storey annexe to my house close to the centre of Halesworth. It has its own entrance and is entirely independent of the main house. It is fully equipped for a couple with double bed and a kitchen that is compact but well-equipped and its own shower room. Double doors open on to a terrace.
Whether visiting friends and family or spending time in this lovely corner of Suffolk, my studio can offer you a compact and comfortable space. We're close to the centre of the town with a supermarket, some interesting independent shops and railway station with a train service that links to London Liverpool Street. Southwold and Walberswick are 20 minutes away by road and Norwich about 45 minutes.

Our studio is independent from the house and tucked away in our garden. It is accessed by our back gate.
Our cosy studio lies alongside the River Blyth in the market town of Halesworth. It is ideal as a base from which to explore the Suffolk coast, eight miles away, or just a quiet retreat to simply unwind and recharge. It s hard to believe that this tranquil spot is so close to the town's pedestrianized Thoroughfare with a great choice of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Our hideaway has a remarkable history, in that it was used for regular poetry evenings in the summer of 1916 by members of the Bloomsbury set, who lived in nearby Wissett. We also have a twin and double room available in the house. We have a separate listing for this with Airbnb - 1903 Town House, Halesworth. Parking is available at the back of our house, right by the gate to the studio at a charge of £5 a day, which you are welcome to pay on arrival. We have under cover storage for bikes in our garden. We leave you to your own devices and privacy, but we do like to say hello and give you a warm welcome. The studio is accessible from the back of the house, with a short walk down the garden, so it is very quiet and private. We love the town because it still retains the old fashioned friendly atmosphere with family run shops and pedestrianized street. There are 3 pubs, lots of cafes and a local theatre. We love biking on the cycle track and beyond and there are many wonderful walks. The coast is only 8 miles away. There are regular buses to Southwold, Beccles (on the River Waveney Broads) Bungay and Norwich. There are hourly trains to Ipswich and Lowestoft (change at Ipswich for London.) Halesworth station is 5 minutes walk away. We provide towels, linen and tea towels.
The studio is completely private and tucked away in the garden, but access to the town's pedestrianised Thoroughfare and all the amenities is only a few short steps away when you walk down the alleyway and come to the front of the house.
  • Beautiful location, very private and pretty garden. Small, cosy and warm. Parking is a short walk away but it is a lovely village.

If you’re looking for a peaceful place to wind down for a weekend or short break Red Poll Barn is ideal, overlooking a moat with south facing private sun deck and views of the water from all rooms. The single storey accommodation is well equipped and beautifully furnished in soft shades of grey with pops of colour with unique artefacts complimenting the old beams in the high ceilings, which create a light and airy open plan living space. The coast is only a 15 minute drive away and if you bring your own rods, you can fish in the pond.
Our guests say: "Such a peaceful and relaxing setting. Beautiful furnishings and a a very warm welcome (the homemade brownies were a real treat!). The birdlife was an added bonus: Kingfisher, Treecreeper, Long Tailed Tits and Pheasants to name a few. We have all enjoyed a fabulous break - thank you for having us! Wishing you every success in the future."
Red Poll Barn lies in the village of Spexhall, surrounded by the idyllic Suffolk countryside offering country walks or cycling and easy access to the old market towns of Bungay, Beccles and Halesworth with an excellent array of local shop and eateries.

Very comfortable an although the property is close to the main dwellings, once you enter the barn you could be in an isolated location. This is due to the very clever convertion. Clive and I ,Chris have moved to this home recently. We came here with the idea of making our home and spare rooms as comfortable as possible and to then welcome people into our home to stay. We are really looking forward to meeting people from all over the world. We also want people who stay here feel at ease as much as possible and ask for anything that they feel they may need. We have a large bungalow in a quiet location but an easy 2 miles of the lovely market town of Halesworth.
You have your own entrance. There is a little kitchen type area with use of a fridge, toaster and microwave which is shared by the guests. This booking is for the king size en suite. We do allow quiet well behaved dogs but would appreciate if they are not allowed on the furniture. We do have 2 other rooms under another listing. Click on our profile photo and the other 2 should be there for you to access. The 2nd room is a King size en suite room which has a pull out double sofa bed ideal for families or this room can accommodate 4 adults if they do not mind sharing. There is a travel cot available for use in this room. It is large so plenty of space a family may need. The 3rd room is a Twin/ Superking which has 2x3' zip and link which is either2 singles or super king when together. This room has a shower room which is directly opposite but it is only for this rooms use.
The area is quiet and only about 12 other properties in immediate vicinity. The Wissett Plough pub is only 25 minute walk away up a quiet country lane with nice views as you go . Also The Rumburgh Buck is about 4 miles also does food. We are a 20 minute car ride to the coast where you can visit places like Southwold, Walberswick , Thorpeness, Orford and Aldburgh all very quaint in there own different ways. Of course Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth and even Ipswich are about 50 minute drive. We are near places like Framlingham, Saxmundham and Woodbridge.
  • Really great place to stay. Lovely people and a very nice comfy room. Will definitely stay again.

  • Christine's place was amazing and one of the best places we've ever been too. We got there quite late at night and it wasn't that easy to see in the dark but Christine was very easy to contact and kept in contact until we arrived and she directed us to the property. The property itself was really lovely and we were shocked at the size of it once inside and the rooms were very stylish and very well designed and it was a lovely stay for all of us. We had some family from Germany with us and they loved the place and they said when they come back to the UK they'd love to go here again. We all cannot reccomend the breakfast enough as it was a lovely breakfast and we really loved the home made jam & marmalade and particularly the home made fruit salad and muffins. We felt very comfortable staying here knowing anything we needed to ask Christine and Clive were always there if we needed it. Thanks again for making it such an enjoyable trip for us and we hope to come back as soon as we can.

  • You could not ask for more wonderful hosts, they make you feel so welcome from the moment you arrive. They both were keen to ensure your stay was enjoyable. Breakfast was fantastic, the stay was amazing in great location with great value for money. The room was wonderful and very clean. They allowed dogs and ours certainly enjoyed the garden. We took our dogs for some lovely walks early in the morning and had the pleasure of meeting some of the very friendly and chatty villagers. Biggest test....would I pay and visit again....oh yes! it was a gem!

  • A beautiful place in a peaceful setting. Very clean throughout with a beautiful spacious garden. Fantastic hosts who both went the extra mile to make our stay perfect. We look forward to returning. Thanks Christine and Clive.

Light streams into the sociable living space in this stylish self-catering holiday house, luxuriously furnished in a contemporary style retaining many features of its former coach house days with beautiful beams, reclaimed wood flooring and cosy wood burner. A wooden deck wraps around the house so you can simply chill and enjoy the hot tub, fishpond, tranquility and wildlife; or explore the Suffolk countryside, seaside towns and coast close by. Sleeps 6 I 2 King Bedrooms I 1 Twin Bedroom I 1 Bathroom I 1 En Suite Shower Room with Separate Bath
The light and airy living/kitchen/dining room sits at the heart of this characterful property - cosy in the winter thanks to the wood-burner with cooking chamber; perfect for indoor/outdoor living in the spring and summer with wall of glazed doors opening onto the deck. The original beamed wooden ceiling remains from days gone by when the property was a coach house where the horses and coaches could be taken into the pond for cleaning. All three bedrooms are generous and stylish, with the master on the ground floor being particularly lavish with grand four-poster bed, free-standing bath and en suite shower room. Fascinating artwork belonging to the prominent art collector owner is displayed throughout, this superb accommodation. Fishpond House sits in an exceptionally tranquil spot on private land, conducive for total relaxation on a short break or holiday with friends and family, with just the owners house, peacocks and frequent donkeys for neighbours! The hot tub gives the ultimate in decadence, sitting on a deck furnished for dining in the dappled light filtering through willow trees overhanging the pond. Ground Floor To the right of the hallway is the master bedroom with double doors to the deck and door to the shower room. There’s a step down to the main living area and open tread stairs to the first floor. Reclaimed wood flooring from a gymnasiam runs through the house. Living Space Step into the hallway with cubby holes for your footwear, hooks for your coats, an open treadstaircase to the first floor landing and a step down to the living space. The area is cleverly divided with traditional kitchen units running along one wall with a built in oven, four ring ceramic hob, upright fridge/freezer (four drawer), built in microwave and a washer dryer. The unique dining table sits in the light by the windows with six spindle back chairs; a gorgeous wicker hanging chair is positioned so you can curl up with a good book or simply gaze at the view. Furnishings are sumptuous with a chic velvet sofa and chair, footstool and retro-mirrored coffee tables, all snuggled around the TV and wood-burner where you’re sure to have some fun making toast or baking a potato in the cooking chamber. Master Bedroom Simply gorgeous with the four poster bed taking pride of place beneath the double height beamed ceiling, opposite double doors to the deck - convenient for the hot tub! The luggage rack invites you to unpack with a corner unit providing hanging and shelf space. Additionally there’s a bookcase and desk/dressing table with chair under the window. For added indulgence there’s a modern free standing bath in the corner of the room with hand shower. En Suite Shower Room The double shower cubicle has a rain and hand shower; there’s a WC wash-basin and heated towel rail. First Floor Open tread painted stairs rise to the first floor where both bedrooms and the bathroom open off the landing with desk and chair. The first floor also has wooden floorboards and beautiful beamed ceilings. Bedroom Two The Juliette balcony is a special feature in this room that has a king-size bed, side shelves and plus a cupboard with shelves for your storage and hooks on the door if you’re wanting to hang some clothes. Bathroom Conveniently between the two bedrooms. Natural light from a skylight above the bath floods this charming bathroom with its feature Victoria and Albert claw foot bath, reclaimed sink, WC and heated towel rail. Bedroom Three Wake to the view of the pond and fields beyond. Twin beds sit either side of the door with bedside units and there’s storage in a wardrobe with hangers and a shelf. Outside Fishpond House sits on a private estate with an uneven private drive taking you past fields and round the back of the property where you'll find parking for two cars and an external plug for anyone needing to charge an electric car. A wooden deck wraps around two sides of the house, overhanging the pond on one side, with furniture for outside dining and doors from the dining/kitchen area making it easy to eat in the open air. The hot tub sits on the deck at the side of the property, conveniently close to the master bedroom. At the side is a lawn with graceful willow trees rustling in the breeze however, due to the grass being sown in the winter, the area's not well established as yet.
This substantial holiday house is in a great location for exploring all that the picturesque Suffolk Coast has to offer, with fashionable Southwold just six miles away with a sandy beach, iconic pier and excellent range of shops, eateries and, for beer lovers, home to the famous Adnams Brewery. From a practical perspective, the market town of Halesworth is just three miles away, with a good selection of both independent shops and supermarkets, a railway station with connections to Liverpool Street and The Cut Arts Centre with a two-week arts festival in the autumn. Halesworth Golf Club is close by, there are plenty of amazing walks and cycle roots, fishing and sailing close by. Bird lovers are sure to enjoy the fantastic birdlife right on the doorstep or go further afield to Minsmere Nature Reserve.
  • A lovely property with beautiful art work which was cosy. Hosts were showed thoughtfulness. We hope to go back again!

A rural retreat in the Suffolk countryside, wonderful open views to fields and wildlife. 15 minutes from the coastal town of Southwold, 5 minutes from Dunwich Heath, Minsmere bird reserve and 20 minutes from Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh.
Everything needed for a comfortable stay, with lovely views , wildlife and amazing sunsets.
The village is small and quiet with just a pub and butchers and horse riding stables. There is a petrol station cafe, shop and flower nursery 1.5 miles in the other direction. This has petrol, food, off licence and a cash point. Dunwich , Southwold, Halesworth and Minsmere are 5-15 minutes away. All of the coastline is very pretty and accessible with great places to eat and drink. Lovely areas to walk within woodland, beaches or Heathland. We have further information at the house and can suggest places for a variety of interests and activities.
  • The Snug is a great place to stay whilst exploring the local Suffolk coast line. There is an amazing bakery 2 mins away in Darsham and the lack of phone signal means you can switch off and unwind. The house is perfectly located for exploring Southwold and Aldeborough and is very clean and perfectly hosted.

  • What a lovely little property. It was just my little dog and I but definitely spacious enough for a couple. The garden was fenced off securely so was able to just leave my back door open. There were lovely cosy touches likes dvds to use and books, local info, some milk, coffee and even biscuits (thank you). Bed comfy, clean towels left out, spotlessly clean throughout. Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Set on a quiet country lane in a large garden in the countryside, 7 miles from the picturesque seaside town of Southwold and 1 mile from the charming market town of Halesworth. Our cabin has been handcrafted with lots of care for the environment and furnished with an eclectic mix of vintage and new furnishings. There is a fully equipped kitchen with cooker, induction hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The bathroom has an electric shower, washing machine and composting toilet. Perfect for couples looking for a relaxing break, you can stay in the cabin and relax or explore the beautiful romantic beaches along our coast. If you're interested in wildlife this is the place to be, with Dunwich forest and National Trust Dunwich Heath just a few miles away and RSPB Minsemere just 9 miles. Plenty of walks from the cabin and many more from Southwold and Walberswick take you along the river valley and through beautiful bird-filled reed beds, you'll be spoilt for choice.
Halesworth is 2 miles away, a 5-minute drive and 25 minutes walk either by road or footpath along the river. If you're lucky you might spot a kingfisher or treecreeper along the way. Halesworth is a small friendly town with several pubs and restaurants and a range of interesting and individual shops.
  • Simon and Rebecca's cabin is such a beautiful and spacious living area. We enjoyed our cosy nights in by the fire and it was a great location to get to Dunwich forest and to Southwold for a long dog walk on the beach. 100% would recommend!

    Tom2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is accurate as to the listing, and perhaps even more beautiful once you're inside and can see all of the touches. We spent most of our time in the cabin as the weather wasn't great, and it was so cozy with the fire going. Very comfortable space in a quiet location. Just what we were looking for.

    John2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Best placed we’ve stayed in on the Suffolk coast (and we’ve been coming here for years). Super cosy venue with all the right touches in terms of privacy, space, cleanliness and location. We felt right at home which was great as Storm Dennis make the weekend challenging at times. Looking forward to booking again for our next trip.

    Richard2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin that feels like home over a long weekend. We loved the furnishings, which made it a great space to relax. We stayed over storm Caira so can confirm the cabin can withstand winds of up to 70mph! Thanks for a lovely stay.

    Yassen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was such a cosy spot for us to escape to during a miserable January, especially with the log burner and blankets. It's very nicely decorated and everything that we needed to cook our own dinner was available in the kitchen. We enjoyed watching the birds out of the kitchen window and can imagine that the porch/deck is great to sit on in warmer weather. The bed was super comfortable too! We'll be back.

  • My partner, puppy & I had a wonderful stay at the Cabin. It was the perfect winter get away. The whole place was decorated beautifully and the log burner was amazing after a busy day out walking. The annexe sits within the grounds of a 1/2 acre, nature-friendly garden in the village of Blyford. Halesworth is just a mile away, with trendy Southwold a 15 minute bus ride from the village. RSPB Minsmere on the beautiful Suffolk coast, is also nearby.
It is separate from the main house with it's own front door, plus a shower room and kitchenette. There is no central heating but guests can set the timer on an efficient oil-filled radiator, plus there is a heated towel rail in the shower room.
Blyford has a good food pub nearby, but please note there is only a grass verge on some parts of the route, if you choose to walk. Alternatively there is another pub in the neighbouring village of Wenhaston, a 1 hour walk along the river.

I have converted the old stable near my cottage to make a tranquil place for people to stay, relax and enjoy the gardens.
It is basic but comfortable in an idyllic setting ; there are two main rooms with a single bed up on a mezzanine in one and a double bed in the other. There is a tiny little kitchen with fridge, cooker etc. for basic cooking. Across the courtyard you have your own bathroom with free-standing bath and loo. There is a pretty courtyard where you can sit out when the sun is shining. If the log stove is required then a cost of three pounds a day will be charged. Logs are available on site.
The place is 25 minutes by car from coastal spots like Southwold and Minsmere Bird Reserve, 10 minutes from fantastic pubs like the Laxfield Low-House and half an hour from Benjamin Britten’s concert hall at Snape Maltings. There’s plenty to do, but you may prefer to do little!
  • The stable was a beautiful rustic country getaway. The weather has definitely turned but the log fire kept us warm. Thanks Pamela for being a great host with quick responses and some little touches we really appreciated!

    Robyn2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Even though the weather has turned, every bit as wonderful as my previous visit, comfortable and cosy, and beautiful surroundings, I will be back ❤

    Joy2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Pam’s little converted barn is a super sweet little slice of serenity for those who wish to get some peace and quiet out in the countryside. It’s a short drive into town and to many nice little places to visit for the day or an afternoon. You are given plenty of privacy by Pam but she is always available and very helpful if need be. I highly recommend staying here.

  • A magical house in the middle of nature, the perfect retreat for those us hyper-connected and need a space to clear out our thoughts. Highly recommend.

    Sam2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended to those seeking peace, simplicity and beauty. The accommodation and location both are delightful, secluded, colourful, comfortable and frankly gorgeous. We passed an idyllic weekend enjoying the enchanting environment Pamela has created both indoors and in the lovely planted yard outside. With the sea and beaches less than 30 minutes drive away, it doesn’t rally get much better than this.

  • Great mini weekend break. The hut was super clean and stylish, with everything we needed and amazing views (despite the storm). Terry and Linda were super friendly and welcoming and went the extra mile for hospitality. I would highly recommend and will be back again!

  • Beautiful shepherds hut in lovely grounds, really enjoyed our stay, hut was lovely and clean with everything you needed, very cosy, loved the shed with games, out boys loved the freedom outside and we loved the little extras, prosecco and brownies!

  • We have used Airbnb quite a bit and this is right up there as one of our favourites. We stayed with our 7 year old daughter for a quick half term break and it was a perfect cosy stay. The Shepherds Hut is spotlessly clean and has everything you can possibly want including kitchen equipment and there is a little shed with games and other useful items. The bed was really comfy and there were lots of cushions and throws to keep us warm. The heating meant that it was lovely and warm even on a cold night. There were lots of nice touches that made us feel welcome and communication with the hosts was really easy and helpful. From here we were able to go on a brilliant walk and drive locally to the seaside. Highly recommended.

    Lisa2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous place to stay, beautiful decoration and thoughtful touches. We had everything we could need. The girls particularly loved the fire pit and toasting marshmallows under the stars. Also being able to roam the meadow and woods.

  • Terry and Linda were lovely warm and inviting hosts. Amazing brownies we’re waiting for us on arrival. Prosecco and all the basics! The games room was equipped with more than a child or adult could wish for! The finish is exceptional on the accommodation. Peace and tranquility and only 20 mins from the coast. My two young boys and myself loved every minute. Thanks so much xx

A perfect rural hideaway positioned next to the historic WW2 Metfield Airfields, in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. The property has a double bed, wood burner, seating area, dining table and 2 chairs, kitchen and bathroom. We are dog friendly!! The 4 acre grounds has 2 ponds, orchard, tree house and windmill ruin with dining table set within. The grounds are fenced in and secure so dogs can roam free. The property is adjacent to the main house.
Single Malt is a self contained annexe next to Malt Office Farm. There is a double bed, two comfortable chairs with coffee table, a dining table with chairs, wardrobe and small chest of drawers. The kitchen has a 2-ring hob, a small fridge (don’t bring a large shop! But if you do well happily store it for you in our own fridge), Nespresso coffee machine, kettle and toaster. A microwave is available upon request. The bathroom has a bath/shower, basin and lavatory recently installed. The surrounding countryside is perfect for walkers, cyclists, runners and people who enjoy some seclusion. Both Harleston and Halesworth towns are 6 miles away and the coastal hot spot Southwold is 15 miles away.
A charming and peaceful spot set within the Suffolk countryside. A perfect getaway from hectic modern day life! The Village shop is a bicycle ride away (1 mile) which stocks all your basic necessities (booze, fresh local breads, newspapers, wood for your fire and ice for your gin!) The village church is a stunning step back in time. Regular services, concerts and community gatherings. No pub within Metfield Village, but a brilliant village hall bar open Friday and Saturday evenings. Surrounding villages have gastro and traditional eateries such as The Fox And Goose, in Fressingfield; the infamous Low House (our fav!) in Laxfield, The Kings Head pub (superb pizzas), in Brockdish and many more. Just ask us if you have a craving and need a recommendation!
  • Lovely little place with nice grounds and good central spot for driving to different areas.

  • Such a lovely stay and great hospitality. The accommodation was so cute and perfect for what we was looking for. Loved the homely feel and having a friendly and accommodating host made the stay just that bit better. Also our cockapoo Hugo loved meeting his pals Gus and Nelson! Recommend this for someone who wants a cute, clean, bolt hole for a night or two whilst exploring the local area - nice and accessible to the coast, we visited Southwold and Dunwich during our stay x

  • Carolines place is the perfect getaway for anyone who wants peace and quiet along with a great view of the Suffolk countryside. I was able to do a weeks worth of writing there without distraction. Her place stylish, warm and the views are perfect. I should also add that the kitchen is very well stocked with all manner of utensils and everything needed to prepare most any kind of meal. I’m looking forward to going back again.

  • These huts are the most wonderful places to stay you can ever imagine. Fabulous hosts and you are always guaranteed the most delicious treats on arrival! Very highly recommended, immaculately presented, very comfortable indeed. Once you've been once you will not want to go anywhere else!

    Marcelo2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! It was our first time away with our daughter (ten weeks) and we couldn’t have asked for more. The hut literally left us wanting for nothing and the bread, eggs and cake were a great little extra, and all eaten for breakfast! The huts are so well designed what with the great shower, log burner and well-equipped kitchenette. We really felt we were able to relax. We’ll be recommending this place to family and friends and wouldn’t hesitate coming back ourselves if we’re in the area.

  • I booked the stay at Diane's hut for my parents as their Christmas present and they decided to visit last weekend at the end of February. In their words....Diane and her husband were very welcoming, they came out to greet us and showed where to park. The hut was lovely, warm and cosy from the log burner and so many little finishing touches made the stay extra special (especially the homemade loaf of bread). Considering they stayed during the worst week of weather in February they had no problem being stuck inside catching up on some R&R. The hut is situated in an easy location to get to Southwold and other local areas. Bonus tip! If the pub is unavailable or as my parents found booked for a private function there is a good local chinese (Happy House) in Halesworth which delivers on site too! I have already recommended Diane's to friends based on their review.

  • Gorgeous, clean and cosy Shepherd's hut. It's more like a small apartment! Was lovely and warm and cosy and Diane pulled out all the stops with cake, fresh bread and lovely touches for our arrival. We'll most definitely be back.

  • Two beautiful Shepherd Huts, with a lovely large showeroom (most shepherd huts have outside loo's!) and will appointed kitchen. Perfectly clean and welcoming. A credit to the owners.

    Steve2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Charming space, brilliantly designed to feel spacious and easy to live in. Warm and cosy even in February. Great shower and very comfortable bed. We had a great weekend!

    John2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stay, shame it was only 1 night. Bigger than it looks on the photos. Lovely little touches, everything you might need. Easily the best value place ive ever stayed in. Very warm and quiet which I didnt expect in a shepherds hut. Gorgeous design and decor. Thanks so much

    Jay2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Diane was a wonderful host. The shepherd's hut was sparkling clean, and is beautifully made and decorated. Diane had left lots of little touches for us - bread, milk, coffee, tea, beers... we immediately felt at home. The heating in the hut was a real bonus - we felt so warm and cosy, despite the mid-February weather! The location is perfect for reaching the coast - Southwold is only 10 minutes away by car. Overall, a wonderful place to stay for a few nights away!

Guests can enjoy the peace and quiet of our large garden at the back, which runs alongside the river.
Guests enjoy eating a leisurely breakfast of fresh orange juice, cereals, fruit and yogurt with unlimited supplies of toast, tea and freshly ground coffee in our lovely dining room featuring a beautiful stained glass window which overlooks the garden. For a full English breakfast with locally sourced food we ask for £5 to be paid as and when you would like it. Our coffee beans from a Suffolk company are the best in town and come from the Hideout Café!
We love the town because it still retains the old fashioned friendly atmosphere with family run shops and pedestrianized street. There are 3 pubs, lots of cafes and a local theatre. We love biking on the cycle track and beyond and there are many wonderful walks. The coast is only 8 miles away.
  • Juliet and Tom provided a very warm welcome and great hospitality during my stay. The room was great, very comfortable and clean. Would certainly return if ever in the area again

    Thomas2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had a lovely time. Tom couldn't be more helpful, recommending a walk for us and letting us spending time in their beautiful garden after we'd checked out. Would highly recommend! Thanks!

  • Bridge house is centrally located with convenient parking close by. Our hosts were so welcoming, it was almost like staying with friends. The charming house is spotless and warm with great artwork. Our room was cheerful and spacious, with everything we might need. All in all a very nice place to stay, to explore the local area.

  • Ideal place for a weekend away. Very friendly. Juliet's place is full of character. Wonderful breakfast provided

    David2019-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Take the breakfast ... and enjoy the richness and insight from the fabulous hosts. A privilege to have met them!

  • If you want to stay right in the centre of Halesworth, within easy reach of the 3 pubs, several restaurants and cafes, close to the town park and Millennium Green and a short walk away from the rail station, you could do no better than to stay here. Our room at the back had a luxurious double bed with a mattress topper that was exceptionally comfortable. The room had its own loo and shower room en-suite. It was warm, comfortable, nicely decorated and really very spacious. We stayed 2 nights, so enjoyed 2 breakfasts: on the first morning we paid extra to have a truly superb full English with top quality ingredients; on morning 2 we had their “healthier” option that is included - orange juice, a vat of coffee, cereal, a forest fruits mix, toast and natural yogurt. Both were delicious and filling. Our hosts Tom and Juliet were helpful, friendly, informative and interesting. All in all, it was an absolute pleasure to spend a couple of nights at their home. We will definitely visit there again on our next trip. Our score out of ten - an easy 11. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️? Maybe closer to 6.

    Keith2019-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Juliet and Tom’s house is warm, accommodating and interesting ... a lovely house with a lovely garden. The situation is ideal towards the end of the thoroughfare in Halesworth. We would definitely recommend it!
