“The downtown pedestrian mall is the center of Charlottesville’s social and cultural life (unless you’re an undergrad- then it’s the university and the Corner!). A brick-lined street closed off to traffic, the downtown mall has a ton of great restaurants, boutiques, and history. On a nice day go down there to stroll and people watch. In the evenings, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall, expect a busy and celebratory atmosphere, with a buzzing restaurant scene and active music scene. There are five music venues on the downtown mall (The Southern, the Jefferson, the Paramount, the Pavilion, and Miller’s) so be sure to check out the offerings. In the spring, summer, and early fall there’s also a free outdoor concert every Friday starting at 5 pm. (Fridays After Five). ”

“Wondering what the UVA "Corner" is all about? Mincer's, formerly a pipe shop, is now a UVA souvenir, apparel and gift shop, right in the center of the action. It's an iconic part of student life, both past and present.”
