A very snowy winter is here in VT and the celebration of life in the North Country is happening from Stowe to the Mad River Valley! From Lake Champlain to the top of the Green Mountains, from Middlebury, Burlington, and Stowe, you can celebrate it all from our place. Great seasonal local wine, ciders and beers are on tap everywhere. Enjoy the incredible mountain views with coffee or drinks while cozy in the barn. Ask about a cooking lesson (pasta making, anyone?) Cheese, chocolate, beer and wine tastings or tours? Book a massage or spa day? Just ask us... Our very comfortable and beautifully appointed Luxury Barn Apartment is surrounded by gardens and breath-taking views on 80 very private acres. Nestled high in the Green Mountains, Lincoln is a peaceful world apart, yet Middlebury College and all its cultural resources is 18 miles away. The charming Village of Bristol is 5 minutes, 20 to the wonderful little City of Vergennes, 30 minutes to Burlington International Airport. Montreal is 2 1/2 hours to the north, Boston 3 hrs. south. We are very close to Lake Champlain for summer water play, as well as world-class skiing at Sugarbush, Madriver, and The Middlebury College Snow Bowl and Reichert Ski Touring Center. Stowe is an hour to the north. Hiking, snowshoeing, secret swimming holes, biking, and cross-country opportunities abound just outside the front door. Numerous great restaurants, artisan cheese and bread makers and several flourishing Farmer's Markets are open year-round. It's a perfect spot for city-dwellers to kick back for a weekend in the country, or for putting up family members during Reunions, Parent's Weekends, Homecoming and Graduations at Middlebury College. Numerous Brides and Grooms have chosen the Apartment for their honeymoons. If you would like to have a Massage, Cooking Class, or Artisinal Cheese Tour, we would be delighted to arrange it. Please let us know how we can help you plan your perfect get-away. There are plenty of places to get well fed and caffinated nearby. Bristol is home to the incomparable Almost Home Market, the Bristol Bakery, and Snaps Diner. Dinners out are also a treat: visit with Chef Doug Mack and his wife Linda Harmon of Mary's at Baldwin Creek for fabulous locally grown everything (cooking classes!), or go to the Bobcat for a local Brew and Bistro Fare. Not to be missed either, are the sublimely French Tourterelle (Best Boulliabaise Ever), in New Haven, and the Vergennes Laundry for superb coffee and pastries, fresh oysters and sandwiches. Did I forget to mention Middlebury Chocolates or Daily Chocolate in Vergennes, lu.lu's small-batch ice cream in Bristol, and all the local brews? So much more great food and drink, so little time!!! We can acommodate two adults in a queen bed, and also have a double-bed as well for an extra couple or child, 35 dollars a night per person in the second bed. Fresh linens, fresh coffee, teas and snacks are provided by us. Canine friends are welcome only downstairs in the barn garage (the floor is heated and the space cozy), and are not allowed in the apartment. Bring kennel and or bed. Please be advised - If your pet cannot be out of your sight, the barn is not going to work for them!
Private, peaceful, beautiful views, convenient to everything you might want to do in our part of the state. Addison County is ideally located between Lake Champlain (summer water games) to the west, the Presidential Range to the east (Mad River Glen, Sugarbush, Stowe Mountain Resort). Quaint, upscale Vergennes is 15 minutes. To the north and south, two College towns: Burlington and Middlebury.
  • My good friend and I were interested in visiting an off the beaten path location to celebrate my 30th and we chose very wisely! Christine was a wonderful host - we were greeted with a nice note and treat and we had a great time talking to her and hearing restaurant and hiking recommendations. The property exceeded my expectations which was hard to do since the pictures were already so lovely. The stars and mountains nearby allowed for a quiet, rejuventating retreat. So much is nearby and driving is one of the best ways to take in the scenery, instead of it being a chore. I would love to visit again, especially in the fall!

  • Christine is a wonderful host who has many years experience in the hospitality industry. You're a lucky person if you're able to reserve this space for such a low price. It is an amazing deal. Christine's barn is a beautiful building located fairly close to Sugarbush, Mt. Ellen, and Mad River Glen. The woods surrounding her place are silent and beautiful. The room is an open layout with two beds, one queen and one smaller bed. The couch area has seating for three or four comfortably. There is plenty of space to spread out. The floors are heated, the bathroom is clean and well put together. It's a good space to kick back after a day of cross country skiing or visiting artist galleries. You'll have access to a TV, a coffee maker, and a shelf of books, but no fridge, no stove or microwave. There is a Shaws in nearby Bristol where you can pick up sandwich material like jelly, PB, or cheese etc. Pick things that will not spoil if you plan on eating at the barn. There are numerous surprisingly good restaurants nearby. The surrounding towns may be a little isolated, but it's not backwater in terms of culinary fare. The Black Sheep, Bobcat, and Pitcher Inn are all recommended. Be prepared for the winter roads. If you do not have all-wheel drive you might get stuck! We saw 2 unfortunate folks trapped on a hill on a mountain road in the dark. And holy crap it is dark out there. I'm sure the scenery in the summer is going to be gorgeous. It's a perfect vacation spot for a few days, and I will definitely try to return in the summer. Things you will love: Cleanliness and clean design in the barn Beautiful location Extremely friendly host Great food at nearby restaurants Allows pets Things you will miss: Street lights Fridge/Microwave DVD player for TV

  • My fiance and I really loved staying in Christine's barn. She was very helpful and communicative as it came closer to our trip, and while the local roads weren't as clearly marked or all paved (just something to note for people with older/smaller cars like ours), we still found the house pretty easily and once we got there, the views were breathtaking. The barn itself is spacious and quiet, even though the main home on the property is a few feet away. It still felt very private and relaxing-- perfect for a couple of days away. As a city girl and guy, the one thing that creeped us out at first was how unexpectedly dark it was outside at night. We're night owls and would've loved a curtain or two by the bed/bathroom. There were also a few big spiders by the entrance and in the corners on the ceiling, but we understood and got used to the fact that this is all part of the country experience. :) All in all, the luxury barn apartment was excellent. Thanks for everything, Christine! ~Val & Andy

  • The Luxury Barn is well named - it has the rustic feel of a barn with the comfort of a hotel room! The best part though was the 80 acres of land surrounding the barn which we were free to hike around. My only advice - if you're a city girl like me - arrive during day light hours. While the roads to John & Christine's are par for the course for Vermonters, they took us a couple trips in and out to get used to.

  • Our stay with Christine was absolutely lovely. She was a gracious host & her amazing barn apartment was exactly the kind of vacation spot we were looking for... Nestled in the hills of Lincoln, the barn is in a great location to disconnect for a little while & take in the beauty of the VT countryside. We especially loved how close it was to towns like Bristol, Middlebury, and Lake Champlain - while still feeling a little hidden away. Christine also gave us lots of suggestions for swimming holes (there are many!) and great recommendations for local shopping & dining. We were absolutely charmed by Christine, her lovely gardens, and all of the care & details that she put into the apartment and our stay. We will definitely be staying with her again!

  • We enjoyed the luxury barn apartment. It is nicely decorated, with lovely light and views. The nearby town, Bristol is really cute with a couple of great coffeeshops and laid back vibe. Our hosts were accommodating and helpful and gave us plenty of suggestions regarding sightseeing/eating in the area. The space is probably best for a couple as it is one open loft with no walls or closed rooms, and pets must stay in the entryway or 2-car garage located on the ground floor.

    Kate2013-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's property was exactly as listed, but the description and photos do not totally convey the beauty and serenity of the location. The barn has been tastefully renovated. Even though we did not have good hiking weather, my boys and I greatly enjoyed our stay. Every corner is quite comfortable and cozy, with lovely touches everywhere. Our beagle Molly had a swell time with Nellie. Christine welcomed us with delicious cookies and treats, and a large array of coffees and teas. Great experience. We will come back!

    Sonia2015-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Christine and John were great hosts! The place was perfect and clean. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay and got a lot of relaxation and skiing in!

Spacious loft with complete privacy overlooking scenic farmland and 180 degrees of Adirondack mountains. Queen bed and hidden twins, ergometer, tuned Baldwin piano, free weights and room to stretch. Perfect for two adults exploring between Burlington and Middlebury. Full bath is downstairs below loft. 5 day juice fast by appointment.
A simple, beautiful space, in a gorgeous setting. It's big but wide open. Though there are two hidden twins, it is really best for a couple. The twins could easily accommodate children. The loft has a small fridge, kettle and French press for coffee and sink. The full bath is downstairs. There is also a full kitchen downstairs if you need it.
The views, the walk to country store and library, the proximity to Shelburne Farm, Museum, and to Burlington.
  • This was the beautiful, country location as described. Kenneth had every detail looked after ( coffee and breakfast items as well as clearly written directions for heat and television) and was a delightful host. The views from the loft and surrounding property were breathtaking. Taking in the wide expanse of stars from the hot tub was another high light. We will definitely be back.

  • The Red Barn Loft exceeded our expectations! The rural location has beautiful open views that set the scene for ideal sunsets and star gazing, all while being 20 minutes from downtown Burlington. We had brunch in the city, snow shoed at Shelburne Farms, soaked in the hot tub on a 6 degree night and did lots of relaxing in the cozy, well appointed loft. Ken and company were very attentive and responsive. I highly recommend this spot!

    Sarah2017-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Ken's place gave my husband and I the Vermont experience we were hoping for, the town was absolutely amazing. Ken had the loft stay ready and was very helpful and outgoing.

  • A beautiful spot and very friendly and welcoming hosts!

  • It was peaceful and the view was fantastic. Even got to watch the farmer plow his field till past dusk. Room was clean and very spacious. Couldn't ask for a better host and location to stay! Would highly recommend.

    Rick2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect spot for those looking for a quiet, comfortable, cozy space that has amazing views and great people. The loft is well stocked, has a comfy bed and all the amenities one could ask for. I will be looking to stay again.

    Cameron2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a weekend getaway, this was great. The in ground hot tub was great for stargazing. Kenneth was extremely friendly and welcoming.

    Nicole2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful time! The space, the views, and Ken and Eliza were amazing. Would absolutely go back again.

We live in a very quiet, peaceful area.
We live at the top of a hill, overlooking Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks.
  • We had an amazing stay in amazing place with amazing hosts. Right from the beginning we felt like visit old friends. Home is very charming. Perfect location for visiting Burlington, enjoying local farms, hiking, ferry to NY, everything you can wish for perfect weekend off or longer vacation. If Air B&B would allow higher rating then 5 stars, we would definitely give it to Colleen and Peter. Would I recommend this place to my friends "YES", will I return "YES" without a doubt. Thank you Colleen and Peter.

    Simeon2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Colleen and Pete are a friendly and down to earth couple. We enjoyed our stay with them and felt they welcomed us, and our small dog. Colleen suggested a local spot for breakfast and some nice hiking areas. The house is personable and clean. We would highly recommend staying at Colleen's.

    Quique2016-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house and the the room were very charming and impeccably clean. Colleen and her husband were very welcoming and accomodating. Also the place is closely located to the ferry that links to New York state and the Adirondacks. We would definitely stay there again.

    Pascal2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Colleen's house is beautifully situated on a gorgeous hill. It was very easy to find, and the house is very lovely. Colleen communicated perfectly how to get in and she helped with some great suggestions as we'd never been to the area before. The room was exactly as pictured, her home is gorgeous and very clean. The bed was comfortable, and we had zero issues coming and going, and we were so happy to have been welcomed with our dog. When I booked, I was not aware that many Vermont homes do not have air conditioning, and of course we chose to come stay on what may have been the hottest day of the year, the house was very warm. Colleen provided a huge fan, we found it unfortunately too warm for us. Colleen was gracious and helped us with everything. We so appreciated her excellent and timely communication and willingness to help. The photos match the location, you are getting as beautiful and clean a home as it appears here.

    Jennifer2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is our first ever stay with Airbnb and I have no prior experience to compare the stay. But I should say that the stay with Colleen and Peter was exceptional and beyond our expectations. They were very friendly and accommodating and even let us use their kitchen to prepare our breakfast. We were considered a part of the family and felt great. The place was neat and tidy and well kept. They even have a large collection of children's books which my daughter loved reading. I now realize why they had such great reviews and are also a super host. We would definitely stay here if we were to go to Burlington again. Thank you so much for hosting us and making our stay a memorable one.

    Rashad2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay with Colleen. The room was exactly as pictured, very nice and clean as was the private bath. The view from their house is spectacular! Colleen was very warm and welcoming when I arrived. I got to meet her husband and daughter later in the evening and everyone was so nice. I wasn't able to stay too long this visit, but I would definitely stay their again. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the quiet!

  • Lara's private room in her home was absolutely fantastic. Clean, quiet, and relaxing. We couldn't have asked to stay in a better place. If you are in the area and need a place to stay, this is it!

    Nolan2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lara's place was truly amazing! Nestled in the woods it is also so close to surrounding areas. Our suite was so comfortable and clean and Lara was truly accommodating to anything we needed along the way!

  • Lara and her home are amazing. This was my best airbnb experience and I cannot recommend her enough.

    Kortni2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lara's home was beautifully decorated, peaceful and relaxing. The location was perfect for exploring the area and a sanctuary to come back to at the end of each day. Our room was extremely clean and communication with Lara was excellent leading up to our stay. We will definitely be back!

    Julianna2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lara’s place is a secluded b&b with 5 other rooms for guests to stay. My husband & I stayed in the sunroom which was beautiful. Know that this time of year is when ladybugs find places to hibernate so you might have some roommates. Harmless but it was but if a surprise for us but we got used to them. Most of them stayed in the corner huddled up. The room is decorated all white with beautiful windows that allow you too see a view of the woods. The sunroom has its own bathroom which was nice. We met with Lara’s mom who was such a sweetheart and she answered all of our questions. The place has a shared common space with a kitchen & living room. The local area is by Shelburne which has some nice places to eat, check out Folinos for great pizza & its BYOB ( there’s a brewery right next door too). The location is about 40 minutes from Camels Hump state park and 20 minutes from Burlington. The views are simple picaresque. I would recommend it.

    Umama2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lara's place was lovely to stay at whilst we visited Burlington. Her family were extremely warm and generous with their time throughout the stay, offering advice whenever we needed it. The room and common area were tastefully decorated and comfortable. We'd definitely recommend staying here!

  • I recently stayed in the Sunroom at Lara's home. It was so very pleasant a space, clean, comfortable and quiet. I was visiting relative at UVM Medical Center and it was a 20 min easy and beautiful drive. Lara's is a perfect home for a restful and quiet respite.

"This place, hospitality, and attention to detail is very atypical of 99.9% of our Airbnb experiences" We carefully disassembled out old carriage barn, placed the beautiful frame and woodwork on a new foundation, and surrounded it with a modern, comfortable and energy efficient shell. The result was this lovely in-law style apartment. This truly unique archetecture, combined with our fully stocked kitchen, period furniture, and amenities will ensure a truly unique stay.
Our barn is an original carriage barn on our property that we used to create this lovely in-law apartment in 2004. It features the original hand hewn post and beam frame, antique wide board flooring and a dramatic open living space. It has modern amenities including radiant heat, AC, and a private entrance. There is a private bedroom and bath with a double bed on the main floor. There is also a beautiful loft space on the second floor with a queen bed. In the large bathroom, there is a washer/drier with complete laundry supplies. There is a full kitchen that is exceptionally well equipped including a microwave, coffee maker with k-cups, full place settings and flatware, a complete collection of cookware and accessories, and a broad array of kitchen essentials like olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, basic spices, butter, catsup, mustards, half and half, eggs, jam, and breakfast bread. There is also an exterior gas grill year around and outdoor furniture in the summer months. We have a large private yard with outdoor space for warm summer evenings. There are 2 acres of lawns and gardens with additional acres of walking trails and woods. There is a large playing field that is great for games like soccer, frisbee, or flying a kite. We have lived here for 24 years. We are happy to share information about local activities, restaurants, and attractions. We are available to guests because we work from home. We rapidly respond to email or text messages. Shelburne is 3 miles north. Shelburne Museum is nearby as well as the Shelburne Vinyard, Fiddlehead Brewing, and numerous great restaurants. Downtown Burlington is 10 miles north. Local hiking is available at Mount Philo and Pease Mountain. Lake Champlain, Charlotte beach, and the Charlotte Ferry are all within a few miles by bike or car. Public transportation is 2.5 miles north in Shelburne. Sugarbush and Mad River Glen Ski areas are about 50 minutes away.
Our Charlotte neighborhood is unique in that it is very private and quiet. Our closest neighbor is hundred of yards away. However, we are only 10 miles from downtown Burlinging. This combination of quiet country living with convenient access to nearby stores, restaurants, and attractions is quite unique.
  • Our weekend at Chris and Ginny's carriage barn was wonderful! The space was beautiful and welcoming, and equipped with everything you could possibly need. They were the perfect hosts, and have done a really great job making sure you feel right at home. They were very flexible with our arrival, and helped us get settled in, offering suggestions for hiking and restaurants to visit during our stay. This was our first airbnb experience, and I must say Chris and Ginny have set the bar very high! I would highly recommend this space to others. It's the perfect getaway, and a great place to unwind after spending the day exploring Shelburne and Burlington. We are hoping to visit the barn again soon!

    Megan2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • The barn apartment was great! The decor was really unique and it was great to have so much space to ourselves. Being a little removed from Burlington was nice, and allowed us to enjoy a real getaway from the city. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked, and everything we could have needed was already there :) Chris and Ginny were very welcoming, and are experts at making sure guests are informed of the best that's available nearby, i.e. attractions, stores, etc.

    Cristina 2015-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy with our choice to rent Chris and Ginny's barn for the weekend. They were very pleasant hosts. We will stay there again without question. Chris and Ginny have a remarkable attention to detail. They supplied us with many staples, including homemade bread, milk, shampoo, toothbrushes--the list goes on and on. It was especially nice to come back on the second night to find homemade cookies waiting for us. They were so delicious. The place was very clean and comfortable. The bedrooms had nice beds and linens. The bathroom had a great shower--plenty of hot water and quality towels. The living space was very warm and cozy. We can't say enough good things about it. The place is conveniently located near Shelburne Museum, Farms, and Orchard. The landscape is just beautiful and the museum has an excellent art collection. A short drive away, you can visit downtown Burlington, Stowe, Ben & Jerry's Factory, and Van Trapp family lodge and brewery. You can't go wrong by staying here.

    Edward2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a delightful stay at Chris & Ginny's carriage barn apartment. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, decorated perfectly, and has everything you could possibly need for traveling. We really enjoyed access to the washer/dryer. We can't say enough good things about Chris and Ginny who were amazing, gracious, generous hosts. They gave us great directions, information about the area, and even supplied us with delicious homemade cookies! It doesn't get better than this and we can't wait to return for a longer stay.

    Wendy2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! Ginny and Chris are absolutely charming hosts- thank you for the welcome (and goodbye!) cookies, as well as the local chocolates, which we shared with good friends over a nice dinner together in this lovely retreat, which we also thank you for allowing. The space was perfect as a home base for exploring and visiting Vermont- I got some great photos of Camel's Hump from right up the road! I hope to be back next year for another visit to your beautiful home.

  • Fantastic stay at Chris and Ginny's place. Everything is perfect. The farmhouse is well stocked with everything you need and beyond. The breakfast and coffee is a great touch. Ginny makes excellent cookies! It's an easy drive to Burlington. I highly recommend staying here!

  • Chris' carriage barn is absolutely lovely. The interior is filled with Vermont charm and antiques, and the grounds are simply gorgeous, lovely gardens and large lawns. Our hosts left us some delicious VT products to get started with, fresh eggs and milk for the morning and local chocolates. The location is great, in the country but just a few minutes drive into Shelburne.

  • We had the best weekend here. Chris and Ginny have thought of everything. The space is incredible. We loved the furnishings and warmth of the space. After returning from a day in Burlington, we discovered cookies from Ginny waiting for us! I can't recommend this place enough. Thanks again for such a great weekend!

The Charlotte Farmhouse is surrounded by meadows and borders Rt 7 on one side. Across the road is a vista of Lake Champlain where many stop to take pictures. It is close to Shelburne Museum, The Old Lantern Inn, and Mt Philo State Park. Charlotte has a great old corner store and coffee shop. Shelburne is 2 miles north and Vergennes is 15 miles south. My place is good for couples (baby welcome), solo adventurers, and business travelers. We're right next to the Champlain Bikeway!
The farmhouse was built in the 1820's and has beautiful old wide original floorboards. The gas fireplace lends extra warmth whenever you would want. There is ample sitting and working space for a couple. There is also a packaway bed for a baby.
All of the fields surrounding the farmhouse are in a preservation trust and will never be developed. It is peaceful and quiet with direct access to Ethan Allen Highway /Rt. 7. The house has a 150 ft set-back from Rt. 7 which is easy access when there is a lot of snow. Across the street is the Thorp Barn, a restored historical site. It's at the top of walking trails that lead down to Greenbush Rd. which is on the Champlain Bikeway.
  • Great place, feels just like home which beats any hotel. You're actually very central, and can enjoy some of the best sites without having to be stuck in Burlington. 20 minutes from Mad River and a quick hop from the lake. Host's are very responsive and respectful.

  • Very comfortable and cozy place, also quite spacious. It has all the basics. Also, the coffee started my day right.... I would definitely stay here again.

  • Laura's farmhouse apartment is perfect! It was private, cozy and well-equipped with everything we needed. We especially appreciated the stocked kitchen. The house is adjacent to route 7 but we couldn't hear any road noise unless we had the windows open. Laura was extremely communicative and we felt very much at home. We are looking forward to staying again!

  • If one appreciates country living and picturesque scenery, this is the place to stay. The accommodations are spacious and extremely clean. Evenings are quiet and there is no light pollution .There is a nearby major road but its elevation above the yard mutes traffic noises. Its proximity to Shelburne ,Burlington and Lake Champlain affords ample opportunity for exploration and eating.

  • Darling little farmhouse that had everything we needed for our extended stay. The communication was great and we would high recommend it.

Nestled in 8 acres of forest, our private B&B style guesthouse offers the cherished rural Vermont experience while being wrapped in modest luxury only 2 mi. from restaurants and shops, minutes from beaches and sunsets on Lake Champlain, a stone's throw from vineyards, breweries, museums, and breathtaking hikes, a mere 8 miles from Burlington, and 30-45 minutes to top ski areas.
Situated on a tranquil dirt road only 15 minutes from downtown Burlington and nestled in 8 acres of serene forest, our rustic farmhouse, Hearthwood, is a charming private (only through Airbnb) B&B-style property. The guesthouse includes six elegant, fully private suites (each with its own bathroom) for guests to come relax and rejuvenate and is completely separate from our family's personal living area. The common areas include a large gourmet guest kitchen stocked with a wide variety of breakfast foods, laundry room, a dining area, and living room for relaxing. We even offer a large selection of indoor and outdoor games, books, magazines, brochures or yoga mats upon request for guests to use while visiting. Guests also have access to our 6 acres of private forest (with paths) and 2 acres of expansive rolling lawns dotted with Adirondack chairs and a picnic table for enjoying your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Our spacious suites are each newly renovated with high ceilings and serene forested views. Uniquely decorated with a blend of modern and antique furniture, they are designed to provide the experience of beauty, comfort and ease. Each has a deluxe pillow-top queen-sized bed, hand-scraped maple floors, comfortable arm chairs with throw blankets for journaling or curling up by the window, closet or armoire space, and tables for working or eating meals privately. They are furnished almost entirely with natural materials including soft cotton duvets, organic cotton sheets, woven wool or cotton carpets, linen drapes and wooden hangers. They are also appointed with DirectTV, wireless internet (although not fast enough to stream movies), all linens, towels, and individual climate control. Located on the first floor, the Farmhouse Suite is our largest suite and perfectly suited for those who love a neutral color palette in their living area, as well as those who may not want to navigate stairs or parents with babies or toddlers (as it is located separately from the other suites which are upstairs). Decorated in white with shiplap and rustic natural accents, it has a large private bathroom done in Italian porcelain tile with a massive walk-in shower located directly across the hall. (We provide a baby tub for little ones.) Its windows overlook the backyard offering a tranquil view of the forest, and a wrought iron chandelier gives it an extra touch of elegance. Since each suite is private, it's completely your choice whether to spend time on your own or hangout in the common areas and meet some of our other wonderful guests. Either way, we invite you to come and enjoy your time in Vermont with us here at Hearthwood for a truly relaxing and rejuvenating getaway. p.s. Feel free to also check out any of our other suites! The Rustic Suite, Garden Suite, Lakeview Suite, Sunroom Suite or Forest Suite. (Note: For families with young children, the Family Suite is the best since it's downstairs and thus provides a better sound barrier from other suites as well as close access to the kitchen and common areas.)
We live on a charming and quiet dirt road only 2 miles from picturesque Shelburne Village and 8 miles from Burlington. You can immerse yourself in nature while having easy access to all nearby amenities.
  • A wonderful and cozy experience in a warm home that is surrounded by wonderful Vermont farmland. Very close to Shelburne Farms and Burlington which have some tasty restaurants and excellent farmers markets on the weekends. Lara is a very friendly and accommodating host

  • Staying at Lara's was completely dreamy. The guesthouse is set up as a common space living/dining/kitchen on first floor and because we were traveling with our son, we were in the first floor room with our own bathroom adjacent. Was absolutely perfect - the grounds were lovely and just the right amount out of town to feel like an escape. Every amenity we could need was available and attention to detail was great. Was lovely to briefly meet both Lara and her Mom. They have a really special little slice of Vermont to share here.

    Carrie2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lara was the perfect hostess and her place is beautiful. Far enough away from everything to feel that in-the-country relaxation but a short drive in to town. Comfy bed and awesome kitchen. We can't wait to come back! Be sure to check out Fiddlehead brewery and the pizza place attached to it!

  • This Airbnb is phenomenal! Nestled just 15 minutes from Burlington (and a short 5 minute drive to Shelburne), this b&b is just perfect - the farmhouse is equipped with beautiful common spaces (spacious living room and kitchen) as well as lovely suite accommodations and bathroom. The property is also outstanding - a beautiful house on 7 acres of gorgeous forest - quiet and relaxing. We came here with our 6-week old baby, and it was so convenient - and Lara did everything in her power to make it a relaxing, comfortable stay - providing a baby bath and other necessities, in addition to wonderful area recommendations for us as a new family.

  • Secluded gem of a farmhouse with gorgeous interior. Best sleep of our lives in the quiet country air but only minutes drive or Uber to Shelburn and Burlington, Rt 7 and 189/89. Lara was amazing and attentive and her home was beautiful, quaint and relaxing. A true home away from home

    Allie2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Lara's. Clean, friendly, some wonderful dogs (if youlike dogs, just ask about 'em!). We had a wonderful time at Lara's who was very kind and communicative. The shared kitchen space is rarely an issue, as people staying are largely on different schedules. Loved our trip and would highly recommend any and all others to use this spot as a base of operations up in VT! . Thanks Lara!

Our family's cabin is nestled among cedars and pines on the picturesque shore of Lake Champlain, with a newly remodeled kitchen and bathroom, a spacious deck with large table for barbecuing and stargazing, and beach and dock for swimming. Watch the glorious sunsets, fall asleep to the sound of the waves, and wake up to stunning views of the Adirondacks.
Our cabin -- constructed by hand over several generations of my family -- is comfortable, cozy, and open to its beautiful surroundings. Rooms are simple and clean (guests always comment on how well they've slept!). There is space for larger gatherings as well as many spots to be alone. The large deck with views of the Adirondacks and a large table for gathering is usually the center of the action.
Thompson's Point is a scenic, quiet, and restful location, ideal for long walks or runs. Because it's on the side of a hill surrounded by cedars, the cabin is very private. It is within 15 minutes of Shelburne and Vergennes, about 35 minutes from downtown Burlington, with very easy access to a variety of hiking, shopping, and recreation options.
  • We had an amazing time at the cabin, the setup was adorable and really cozy. There's a really strong connection to nature and the views were amazing. The cabins were really nice and the common areas and kitchen are fully equipt. If you plan on cooking make sure to stop by a grocery store before you head up for all cooking ingredients. Was a great experience, highly recommended!

    Danielle2014-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Matthew was a great host! The cabin had everything we could have wanted and are already talking about going back next year. Highly recommended property!

    Mindy2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Matthew's place on Thompson's Point was a good fit for visiting family with plenty of beds and a wonderful main room. The view from the main room over the lake at sunset was quite nice and the room itself hosted all of us for games, meals, and chatting together. The bedrooms are separated from the main room by the deck and the distance allowed people to sleep while early risers or night owls were active. Matthew was welcoming and helpful. I recommend his place especially if you have 8+ people.

    Theodore2014-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Matthew's cabin is just glorious. It was our third visit and we are already planning for 2018, so I don't know if I have anything new to say! The set-up is great: each bedroom has a separate entrance off a big deck overlooking the lake, so there is both shared space and private space. Plus, while retaining the characteristics of a lake cabin, it has upgrades that make it fantastic: a fully functional kitchen, a dishwasher, a washer/dryer, a gas grill, and -- this year -- new fixtures in one bathroom. Matthew is a phenomenal host: instantly responsive, concerned, good-natured. All in all, a perfect experience!

    Karen2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin had incredible views of Lake Champlain and was right in the water. Matthew was an excellent communicator, and accessing the cabin was easy. We had a wonderful family get-together to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Middlebury. The cabin was very clean, and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking and entertaining.

    Kirsten2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend this place to people who love quiet and the outdoors. Right on Lake Champlain, the views are spectacular! The cabin is well-stocked with everything you need to be comfortable, enjoy individual or group time, cook meals in the kitchen, and enjoy them on the large deck. The beds are soft, the showers have good water pressure, and the cabin is clean. It's a 30 min drive to Burlington, so close enough to experience what the city has to offer, while still enjoying getting away into nature. A+!

    Kate2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • If your looking for a great place to have a get together!! This is the place! Matthew is a great host. He made sure we had what we needed and was available if we had questions. The cabin is next to the lake shore. So, falling asleep to the sounds of waves was the ticket to a great nights sleep! The area has lots of activities. Go explore and have a great time!

    Darren2014-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful location, fully equipped for a very comfortable stay. The location is absolutely beautiful, and you can't beat the view from the lake. I would go back in a heartbeat!

We love welcoming guests to our inviting home! Our third floor apartment w/cathedral ceilings and gorgeous light overlooks Lake Champlain and the Adirondack mountains. Halfway between Middlebury and Burlington, close to Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains, our home provides easy access to the charming towns of Vergennes and Bristol, and to the recreational paradise that is Vermont! We are delighted to meet guests from throughout the world or around the corner. All are welcome!
The apartment is accessed through our home and is fully private once within. Guests arrive by our main entry and then climb two flights of stairs into the apartment. It is a perfect place for families, with inviting spaces for adults and children. There are games, books, a secret window and a hidden passage. We provide fluffy down comforters and pillows, soft warm towels. In winter, cozy up on a stormy day, or head three miles up the road to toboggan down Mount Philo State Park. Outstanding nordic and alpine ski areas are within 45 minutes, and on a snowy winter day, you can snowshoe right outside the back door. In the warmer months, find great hiking in any direction. Swim, boat and play at gorgeous Kingsland Bay State Park, less than 15 minutes away. Or play soccer in the back yard! We have a coop full of chickens who lay beautiful multi-colored eggs when they’re not being lazy! We welcome you to enjoy their creamy-yoked eggs, or, when available, produce from our garden.
Vermont was once largely farmed for sheep, and our home, built before the civil war, is an old farmhouse that was once surrounded with many out-buildings and barns. A handful of the early farmhouses still stand nearby and the area remains a farming community. You'll see dairy cattle on nearby farms, and you may even see Ollie the camel who lives down the road! As rural land slowly gives way to modern building, our neighborhood largely retains its rural character. Our road is paved, and though cars sometimes drive more quickly than we would like, it is still lovely to walk along the road. A large horse farm is less than a mile away, and beautiful views stretch to the west and the Adirondack mountains from various vantage points along our road.

Gorgeous country retreat between Burlington and Middlebury. A "dimensionally transcendental" space (bigger on the inside ;o) built as an artist's studio, located in a meadow bordered by woods and a wide creek on 22 acres, magical in all seasons.
One large, 2-story room with two double beds: a bed on the main floor with a plush mattress, and a comfy futon on the sleeping loft. There's a well-equipped kitchen perfect for making romantic dinners, with new (spring 2016) fridge and commercial range. There are both electric and drip coffee set-ups, and a toaster. No microwave. A large dining table (made by a local furniture building from local wood) for the amazing dinners you'll make, or to spread out your work and find inspiration. The center of the space holds a comfy "living room" area with a new couch (spring 2016) to hang out in. The cozy bedroom corner on the main floor and the futon on the sleeping loft make for dreamy night sleeps, both have fans and windows to stay cool in the summer. The recently renovated bathroom has an antique claw-foot tub, with a removable plank "desk" for your book and glass of wine. There is a radio & CD player, and iPod/Phone hook-up, wireless internet, and a land line. As you can see from the reviews, it's a very special place, intimate in size but expansive in feel, because of the cathedral ceiling and wall of windows with a view onto the meadow, creek, and sunset. It's a beautiful artistic/rustic interior, quirky, with a high level of comfort, many lovely rugs, and a lot of art. Perfect for an active vacation, a romantic get-away, or a creative, spiritual, or rejuvenating retreat.
Great natural beauty with an intimate scale. Covered bridges, rolling hills, swimming holes, x-country ski trails, fresh eggs for sale across the road. A vibrant creek (actually a small river) borders the land with easy access for wading, swimming, and fishing. The neighborhood (accessible by car) also has cafés, restaurants, bakeries, markets, hardware, yoga . . . pretty much anything you'll need.
  • Janie's retreat is amazing. My husband and I stayed and greatly enjoyed out time away from the hustle and bustle of what can be life. Great space to help you disconnect if you want to, but only a half hour away from Burlington. House was clean, and stocked with plates as well as cooking supplies. Janie was an excellent host and answered all our questions in a timely manner.

    Andrea2014-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Oh my… Janie's cabin is a little slice of heaven. Just the right mix of 'authentic cabin in the beautiful Vermont woods' mixed with creativity, and creature comforts to make everything that much nicer. Maybe I was desperately in need of an escape - but I had no idea that something only 10 miles from my home could really be such a REAL ESCAPE. The retreat is ABSOLUTELY LOVELY, the setting is divine, and Janie could not have been a more prompt and accommodating host. The cabin had everything necessary to be absolutely at ease and comfortable. The claw foot tub is HEAVENLY! I joked with Janie that I never wanted to leave the moment that I arrived… still wishing I was there right this second. Thank You, Janie! Can hardly wait to book another weekend!!! Courtney

  • We had the most wonderful romantic time at Janie's cottage! It was the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Total relaxation and privacy! Beautiful scenery and so much to discover outdoors. My boyfriend even proposed to me during a day-trip to Montreal which we were close enough to take a bus from Burlington. Wonderful place to read, relax, sleep and eat! We would love to go back during another time of year to experience the wonderful lake and trees. Thank you, Janie for an amazing time! --Jessica and Adrian

  • Fabulous time at the little Charlotte cottage! Really enjoyed our long weekend here. So peaceful. We hiked nearby, had great breakfasts at the cottage, walked the dirt rd to the covered bridge, skied some mountains that aren't far of a drive and generally had an great time. The cottage had everything we needed and nothing we didn't. So creatively put together with beautifully crafted vintage tables, chairs and other great pieces throughout. The artwork was also amazing, very inspiring. It snowed one night of our stay and we awoke up to an amazing display from Mother Nature. Took an early walk down by the river for sunrise and it really was a beautiful scene. Thanks again Janie.

    Robbie2015-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, quirky place to stay and get away from it all. We came in winter and were only able to explore a bit but I imagine the area along the river is gorgeous in summer. Lots of cute towns nearby. Had a great dinner at Starry night. Wi-Fi worked great - we brought some games to play and took some brisk walks along the dirt road to the sweet covered bridge. Not a fancy place but cute and comfortable.

    Jeanne2017-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin sits on a quiet dirt road, next to a wonderful creek and meadow. Close enough to Burlington to go out to dinner, but far enough away for a quiet stay!

Surrounded by open space and the greenery of Vermont, we have lovely views of Camels Hump and Mount Philo. We are conveniently located near Burlington, Shelburne, Middlebury, Hinesburg, and more but are out of the fray enough to enjoy all the beauty and peace of the countryside. We have 2 rooms available (see West-side room). This room with adjoining bath, looks out to horse pastures and sunrise over Camels Hump. Come for an event, hiking, biking, Lake Champlain, leaf peeping, skiing, and more.
We are (mostly) empty-nesters with the boys off to college and my mother in her own wonderful house just down the road, so we now have some rooms to spare and share. Since discovering Air BnB ourselves we have made good use of it and found it enhanced all our trips a great deal. We now have the opportunity to do the same. Of course, the sign does say: "If you want the best seat in the house... move the dog."
You are in the countryside here and will need a car. We are within 1 mile from Mount Philo State Park which is one of the most popular day parks in Vermont. 8 minutes down the road are several restaurants, a market with everything you might need, a pharmacy, hardware store, an awesome pizza place and a local brewery. Probably more than you need but it's all there should you want. 4 minutes away The Old Brick Store will provide you with yummy sandwiches, a variety of snacks, drinks, and more.
  • Katherine's house is a work of art. It's beautiful and luxurious and at the same time homey. The view from our bedroom was spectacular. Many thoughtful details in bedroom and bathroom. We felt very pampered! Location is perfect for hiking and there are good restaurants nearby.

  • Katherine and Greg are great people, and their home is warm and inviting with wonderful decor of original art and antiques. The view of the mountains from their home is spectacular and was very special waking up to each morning. The room I stayed in was beautifully and comfortably decorated, clean, with everything I needed. Katherine filled me in on local events and places to visit as well as directions to where I needed to go. It's a great location with many activities to choose from. I highly recommend this air bnb!

  • Katherine and Greg were amazing hosts! Their home is beautiful and immaculate. And the views of the Green Mountains are incredible. When we arrived, Katherine gave us a number of recommendations for places to eat and sightseeing activities that were all spot-on. It was so nice to settle into our comfortable room and bed after a long day of sightseeing. We enjoyed having coffee and chatting with them (and their dogs) in the morning. It was one of our best air bnb experiences and we hope to stay with them again this fall.

  • Stay here!! We wish we had the time on our trip to spend another night. Definitely the BEST value out there. It's the most beautiful room & home in a fantastic area with so much to offer. We paid more for much less in terms of cleanliness, style, location, space, privacy and quality in many other areas. A stunning home with incredible views!! And the photos do NOT do this space justice: the bathroom is phenomenal and all the finishing touches from the bed (dreamy comfort!) to the huge floor to ceiling windows... literally breathtaking !

  • Richard's house is beautiful, and he was very friendly and communicative. The view is gorgeous, and bedroom was very comfortable! I was in and out for a wedding in the area, but I wish I could have spent more time there!

  • Clean, beautiful location, and convenient.

  • Richard is a very welcoming and lovely host, and the house and gardens are absolutely gorgeous. Our stay was fantastic and it was the perfect place to explore Vermont and Burlington from. Highly recommended!

  • Richard's home was beautiful and a fantastic place to end our Vermont trip. It was spacious, rustic and sits on one hell of a piece of land. Gorgeous views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. His two dogs are super sweet. Richard himself was very accommodating, interesting to talk to, and open. He made us tea and coffee in the morning, and offered up places to check out in the area. We would highly recommend staying here for the full Vermont experience. We'll definitely be looking to stay again!

    Kyle2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Overall great stay. Amazing location and clean room, and Richard was very friendly and helpful.

    Simon2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Richard was very kind and courteous and our stay with him was a pleasure. His house is beautiful and fit our needs (attending a wedding in Charlotte) perfectly.

    Bill2014-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a fun place! Richard's home is cozy and welcoming while still being large and spacious! Richard himself is a great host. He was mowing the (beautiful) lawn while we arrived, greeted us, gave us a tour, asked about our visit, and made us feel at home. The home itself has a couple of extra attractions beyond the rooms themselves: it's an awesome Vermont country home, in an amazing location. You have unimpeded access to the lake waterfront, where there are a couple of chairs, an ideal place to read, relax, watch the sunset... Richard's place also has a great, well-kept, clean pool. It is surrounded by some lawn chairs and shade umbrellas, and that whole thing is fenced in with beautiful flowers in the middle of the huge, well-kept lawn. Everything is clean and organized. It was a pleasure to stay here!

    Yoav2013-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing, we were looking for a place where we could rest, and as soon as you lay down next to the pool you have this wonderful view. If you want quite time, this is where you have to be. Richard is a very charming host, you wont be disapointed!

Panoramic views of the Lake Champlain valley, at Mt. Philo State Park. A "Fodors Choice" hotel. The privacy, tranquility and spaciousness of a home in the country with the amenities of a boutique hotel. 1600 sq. ft. 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and a complete kitchen on one level. Outstanding westerly views from 3 rooms. Large kitchen with Vermont marble counter and inventive aluminum art. Built in 1896, decorative hardware & molding, hardwood floors, original tin soaking tub and marble sink.
This unique inn features four spacious suites. The Left Wing is one of four spacious 2-3 bedroom suites located in separate wings of the building. Each “wing” has a complete kitchen, 2 bathrooms and private entrance way. The décor is a mix of old and new: farmhouse tables, modern office equipment, velvet reading chairs, and local artwork. Kitchens are fully equipped for cooking and entertaining. Bedrooms are outfitted with luxurious Anichini sheets. Situated at the base of Mt. Philo State Park in Vermont with stunning panoramic views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains, the Mt. Philo Inn offers guests privacy, space and tranquility. The century-old inn is in the heart of the Champlain Valley surrounded by fields and mountains, but conveniently located near the restaurants, cafes, galleries, bookstores and shops of Burlington and Middlebury. A recent three-year restoration has transformed the property into a unique lodging that is conducive to educational retreats, family reunions or simple weekends away. A commune in the sixties, the inn most recently functioned as long-term apartment rentals but is now available to travelers looking to stay two nights or longer. Innkeepers David and Jane Garbose have given thought to the inn’s facelift-- preserving the inn’s gorgeous woodwork; sourcing local building materials when possible; decorating with a minimalist and eclectic style; and emphasizing products from local companies. The result is an updated classic that exudes a simple elegance and peaceful vibe. Exceptionally clean, smoke-free and dog friendly. For more information visit our (EMAIL HIDDEN)
Mt. Philo State Park is the most popular in Vermont, due to the easy 1 mile hike to the great views of agricultural Charlotte, the expansive Lake Champlain valley, and the ancient Adirondack mountains. Our private original Carriage Road links the Inn to the park, which was given to Vermont by the Mt. Philo Inn in 1924 to form the 1st state park
  • We had a great and relaxing New Year's weekend at the Mt. Philo Inn. Dave and Jane were very easy going and were super friendly and available if needed, but also gave us space to enjoy the place. Four of us (2 couples) stayed in the Right Wing of the inn which was clean and spacious with 3 br/2ba and our dogs were very welcomed there. Some things to note for future renters are that the 2nd bath has only a small clawfoot tub which was too small for the tall guys in our group and all of us prefer showers so we all shared 1 bathroom upstairs which had a great hot shower. We didn't mind cuz we are good friends and it worked out with no issues, but for those thinking of piling 3 couples into the space, it is kind of tight as the downstairs bedroom has a smaller full bed. Mt. Philo state park is a short walk from the inn which was great, but our door led to pretty close to the main road so you will need to keep dogs on a leash until you can walk around the back of property to a more enclosed space. Also, the pics of the kitchen, baths, etc in the listing are different than the space we got, which again was no problem, but you may want to ask which wing you will be staying in when booking. Other than that, the small nice touches like local vermont toiletries and the awesome breakfast and coffee baskets were really thoughtful and appreciated. Overall, we would recommend Dave's place for chill, weekend getaway :). Thanks!

  • Daniel was very welcoming from the first instance. The house and its surroundings were picturesque and matched our idea of what Vermont would look like or what it would be. He was helpful, but also gave us space to rest after busy days. Would definitely stay again the next time we take a trip there.

    Dan2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted on arrival. The room was spotless and comfortable. The shower and bathroom was very modern. The home is beautiful inside, well restored. Sharing the shower with a couple other rooms is a bit of a drawback, but for the value and great manners of our host I'd happily stay again.

    Craig2016-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Dan happened to be right there as we arrived, showed us around, explained everything and suggested a great restaurant for dinner. Our stay was a quick overnight but was clean and comfortable. We hope to definitely stay another time.

  • What a fantastic stay! Russell and Daniel were so responsive before our arrival, and once we arrived Daniel greeted us and showed us around the place. The house is adorable and clean, and they go above and beyond with stocking the bathroom. The beds were also super comfortable! Shelburne is a lovely town, and it is a short drive to hiking/skiing or to downtown Burlington.

  • Wonderful views of the mountains across the lake. Close to great restaurants and bars. A comfortable, very nicely decorated and clean place to stay with a lot of room. Much better than staying at a hotel!! Robert was a good host and willing to answer any questions about the area on things to do and see.

    Gina2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's place is a clean, colorful and quiet apartment tucked behind his country house with beautiful gardens and a fantastic view of the Adirondacks to the west. It was a perfect spot for us while visiting family in the area and we'll definitely stay again. Robert was communicative, easy to coordinate with, and a pleasure to meet.

    Steve2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely lovely stay at Robert's beautiful home. It's location was perfect for us, a quiet countryside place, but just a short drive into town. Robert was kind, respectful, and very hospitable, everything you look for in a host! We would go back in a heartbeat :)

    Amy2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay! Robert was kind and the house was amazing! Great sunset views.

    Lauren2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's place was absolutely perfect! It was a great size, was stocked with anything that you could need (from coffee to kitchen utensils to gelato), and had the best views of the Adirondacks from both inside the house and the outside seating area. We also loved the location. Its about 20 minutes from downtown Burlington, but still feels so tranquil. It's the perfect central location. We would absolutely stay here again!

Hi, my home is located about 12 miles, 20 minutes, south of Burlington. I'm also about 45 minutes from Montpelier. I'm 2 miles north of Mt Philo. Rooms available include a master suite with bath (300 sq ') and a room with a queen bed and bunk beds (270 '). The property is quite private and has miles of trails adjacent to the house to walk. A continental breakfast is included.
  • You can’t beat the view or the starry night sky. All this and just 20 minutes to Burlington. Great easy and scenic hike to Mt Philo just down the road. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve had at an AirBnB. Lots of space and privacy despite not having the place to yourself. Gary is a great, easy-going host.

    Allen2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Gary's house sits on a very quiet neighborhood with a very beautiful landscape. it's about 20 minutes from Burlington, VT. We were impressed as soon as we pulled into the driveway. The house and the room (we stayed in the big bedroom with the bathroom) is very clean and beautiful. I like that it's clean but feels very comfortable and homey but what made our whole stay the great stay was Gary himself. Gary is a superb host. He made us feel right at home the minute we walked in. When he knew that we came to Burlington to watch my daughter's regatta on the river bank, he had the fold-able lawn chairs and an umbrella ready for us the morning of the race plus the yummy breakfast and very good coffee :). The afternoon of the race my daughter and her roommate came over to visit us at Gary's place and we had a great time hanging out with Gary on the back deck with beautiful view. We've been coming to Burlington several times in the past 3 years to visit my daughter at UVM and we usually stay in the hotel but staying at Gary's house is like staying with a good friend's home so from now on we will try to book his place when we come to Burlington. Thank you Gary for a great weekend.

    Apikanya2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful, peaceful place. A truly great, relaxing experience away from the day to day world. Gary made us feel welcome and comfortable

    Cosmina2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything at Gary's far exceeded our expectations. The space is incredibly clean and comfortable and was perfect for a group of our size - not to mention the beautiful views of Camel's Hump off the back porch. On top of the comfortable space and views, Gary made/provided delicious breakfasts for us most days as well. As frequent AirBnb guests and hosts, Gary has set a new standard for us all. We cannot recommend this spot enough. Thanks, Gary!

    Sarah2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Gary's was perfect. His home is beautiful, set on a slight hill in a quiet neighborhood close to route 7 in Charlotte, VT. We stayed in one of two large guest rooms with its own large, private bath. Access to guest rooms is either from the main house or a side door to the outside. The queen bed was super comfortable, and everything was very clean. We had use of a fully-stocked kitchen, dining room, living room and a large back deck where Gary served us blueberry pancakes with all the fixings. The grounds and views are lovely. Gary is a consummate host giving us privacy when we needed it and great conversations when we wanted that. By the end of our weekend, we felt like we were home. We hope to be back!

    Roxanne2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay at Gary's clean and comfortable home. Lots of space and privacy and Gary made us breakfast complete with peaches from his garden. Highly recommend.

  • Gorgeous setting , incredibly warm host, best beds in the world, spotless rooms with amazing little touches to make you feel at Home .Great breakfast and tips on what to do this in the area. Breathtaking property. BUT we don't want the secret to get out!

    Kathryn2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gary's place is at the end of a country road and just beautiful. It has a unique design with our rooms in one of the wings. The view out his back deck was incredible. No development, just the Green Mountains. Gary was on a camping trip and his roommate, John, checked us in and made sure we had everything we needed and good recommendations on where to eat and visit. When Gary returned, we had a great visit. Highly Recommend his place.

  • Carol's cozy house was perfect for our weekend in VT. Great location and Carol is a gracious host. Would definitely recommend and revisit!

    Maddie2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Carol's farm house. The apartment was immaculate upon arrival, and Carol was there to greet us, despite our arriving a little late from what we had told her. The kitchen was stocked not only with an abundance of dishes and cooking utensils, but milk, OJ, etc were in the fridge, coffee was in the cupboard (both drip and K-cup), and a basket of home-cooked muffins was on the table - quite a unique surprise! Carol also kept us informed when she was going to be gone for a few hours (email notes) and told us how to get hold of her if we needed something. And her new king-size bed was terrific! We'd certainly like to stay with her again if we are in the area.

    Jim2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Carol's Four Seasons was the perfect spot for our stay in Vermont. Carol was so kind, welcoming and accommodating. Her home was private and clean, and well located with only a short drive needed to reach the nearby attractions. Thank you for such a lovely Vermont experience!

    Melissa2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication prior to our arrival and home-made cookies when we got there! It was so comfortable, plenty of room for all of us, and a super quick drive to/from the Old Lantern Barn where we attended a wedding/reception.

    Paula2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Carol's place was all we could have asked for -- essentially our own apartment (half the house) with spacious lawn and a gorgeous view of the Adirondacks. She even baked blueberry muffins for us! I highly recommend Carol's place to anyone staying near Burlington, Vergennes, Middlebury, etc.

    Martin2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our two-night stay here was excellent, from the moment we entered to the fragrance of freshly baked muffins. It is a fully furnished apartment -- all the rooms are spacious. More than enough breakfast supplies were furnished in the refrigerator. The view of the mountains and a bit of Lake Champlain from the back porch and one of the upstairs bedrooms is spectacular. Appreciated its closeness to Mt. Philo and its hiking trails. Also its closeness to where my relatives live. Hope to return for a longer visit someday.

    Juanita2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Carol for your generosity and hospitality. We wished we had a longer stay in Carol's beautiful home. Just love the peaceful and scenic environment. Your wonderful communication when booking your place made us look forward to coming, your patience in waiting for us when we arrived late, your enthusiasm in welcoming us with your delicious and warm muffins, your ever-readiness to give guidance about where to tour, your going out of the way to start a fire so that we can enjoy the stars in the garden and yet your unobtrusiveness in giving us space make you one of the best hosts we had in our B&B experience. Thank you.

Return home each evening to light the charcoal grill for a barbecue and set the picnic table for dinner under the stars. • This was our first Airbnb experience and we truly enjoyed our stay in Shelburne at the Shelburne Green mountain Getaway. Laurie and Mark were extremely good in communicating with us. The basement suite was a wonderful set up for our family of four. Their garden is a delight to walk around. We had beautiful weather and were able to spend some time around and in the pool We were in Shelburne to attend a wedding, and this was a perfect location near Shelburne Farms.

    Ellen2014-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a short but wonderful stay at Laurie and Mark's place. They welcomed us with warm smiles and make sure we had everything we need. The suite was beyond our expectation, next time we will definitely stay a few days more. The location was great, very close to the Shelburne and stars are so pretty at night. We would love to come back again!!

  • Laurie & Mark were amazing hosts!! We loved our time with them & extended a few extra nights. They treated us so kindly & had such respect for our children. The house had all of the amenities we needed & more! It was great having the washer/dryer & the kids were crazy about the pool table & popcorn machine. The gardens are incredible and the kids loved searching for treasures. Thank you for the late night chats. This was everything we could have hoped for & more. We can't wait to visit again!

  • Wow! What an amazing basement apartment. Some airbnb spaces are understandably sparse, but Laurie and Mark's is decorated with care down to the frog and lily pad doorknob on the bathroom door. The kitchen had everything we needed and I was able to cook a full dinner and breakfast for my mom and I. Both beds were very comfortable and we just loved the space. Laurie and Mark were so friendly and welcoming and we loved meeting their amazing senior pup. I would definitely recommend staying with them!

    Malena2014-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Everything turned out great. Laurie's and Mark's place is wonderful and very calm. Really nice place that can comfortably sleep 4 along with snooker table and loads of DVDs. Very neat and clean with all amenities. We loved our stay there and Laurie and Mark were both wonderful hosts!

  • Laurie and Mark were very nice and helpful. The space was amazing, completely as described. It was clean, comfortable and spacious, we really enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend this listing.

  • Laurie and Mark own a beautiful house located close to Burlington, in a Shelburne wooded property. It is conveniently accessible by car. We rented the basement unit, which is vast and has a private bathroom. They added a small refrigerator and oven that are very practical. In the morning we prepared our own food but they shared their kitchen plates and toaster, and we ate in their beautiful veranda. We traveled with a 20 month baby, which went well. Laurie and Mark were very friendly and communicative.

  • Very cosy authentic cottage. Location is perfect for access to the ferry, the lake and the shops in town. Karol is a wonderful host.

  • Karol, Thanks for your hospitality. She was a wonderful host. I would stay there in heart beat next time around. She was very thoughtful and accommodating to me.

  • Karol was warm and accommodating, and the place fit my needs. The location was very central to Essex, and this made my visit easy. It's an old house, so guests should expect that. You can't cook a full meal in the kitchen, but Karol was generous in allowing me to store food in her refrigerator. This was a perfect spot for me, because I was attending a workshop all day in Essex, and I needed a place close to town and convenient. I will definitely stay here again.

Enjoy the entire first floor of our home in a picturesque country setting. Your own entrance, a private outside deck, bathroom, 3 bedrooms, a TV room, a game room with a pool table and many board games available. A delicious homemade continental breakfast every morning. Close to Burlington for great shopping, restaurants, and entertainment, while also close to hiking, biking, skiing, and water sports. Through the summer months, there are music, food, and art festivals almost every week.
Great for one or two couples, and families. Wake up to amazing sunrises over the Green Mountains. We have walking trails from our house and are a few miles from Mt. Philo State Park that has hiking trails with spectacular views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. Some of Vermont's best biking starts right at our doorstep. Charlotte also has a beautiful beach on Lake Champlain for enjoying picnics, sunsets, frisbee golf, tennis, swimming, and other water sports. The area boasts many microbreweries and wineries that offer tastings and meals. There are 4 golf courses within 5 miles of our home.
Our home is in a rural area on 10 acres of land. Yet we are close to Burlington and have easy access into the city. We are 7 minutes to Shelburne and Hinesburg, and 20 minutes to Burlington. We enjoy a country setting yet are close to all that goes on in Burlington and we find it very easy to get to town from our home. It is also easy to get to hiking in the Green Mountains, or kayaking or SUPing on Lake Champlain.
  • We certainly had a great week staying with Laurie and John in their lovely home. The downstairs level porch was still 6 steps up from the lawn, which made the vista of the Green Mts. so beautiful. Quintessentially VT, complete with beautiful gardens, bunnies munching in the yard and the sound of a distant rooster in the background. Put that together with the beautiful "sky show" of clouds and mountains, and it will continually catch your breath. Their home is just a short drive from Rt. 7 and a multitude of good restaurants, breweries and shops, not to mention museums, Lake Champlain and the Ferry. We drove to Burlington three times in the week for it's activities, and also into the mountains. A perfect location for those wanting the quiet, simple life of VT, but also the ability to visit such interesting places as the Burlington waterfront and Church Street, then Stowe, Barre, Vergennes and of course Shelburne. Their place sports stretching equipment, games, puzzles and a pool table, along with comfortable living quarters, so you are never left wondering what to do on a rainy day. The two of them are convivial hosts and easy communicators looking to please. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and will likely return.

    Peg2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Laurie was a wonderful host! The house was clean and comfortable and each morning she left us a fresh, homemade breakfast. We were in town for the Vermont City Marathon and Laurie gave us a parking pass to use at her husband's office downtown during the day of the race and gave us some great advice about navigating Burlington and about activities to do in the city after the race. Laurie and her husband were easy to talk to and we genuinely enjoyed getting to know them. They gave us plenty of privacy but were also available when we needed anything. Their home is beautiful and has wonderful mountain views and a lot of green space around their house. The space was much bigger than we expected. We would definitely stay again if we had the opportunity!

    Blaire2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot, comfortable, impeccably clean.

    Gail2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Laurie's place, and only regret that we didn't have more time to spend just relaxing in the house and surrounding Vermont countryside. We had the entire lower level of the house, and it was clean and spacious, with beautiful views of the Green Mountains right outside our windows. Laurie is a great hostess and thought of everything to make our stay most comfortable - books, games, suggestions for things to do ... and delicious treats for breakfast! We were just two people, staying for two nights, but this would be even more perfect for more people staying longer to take advantage of all that Laurie's place has to offer.

    Stephanie2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Laurie's place was magical. It is built on a hill with a lovely view of the Vermont mountains. The accommodations include an entire suite of rooms all to yourself. There is a living room, game room, and three bedrooms with your own private deck. The whole place was very clean and well furnished. We didn't lack for anything. It even had a pool table much to the delight of my adult son. It is the perfect place for a family. It is about 15-20 minutes from the college town of Burlington. Laurie left us fresh baked muffins, homemade granola, juice, coffee and yogurt every morning. We just loved this place and wish we could have stayed for longer. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you again Laurie and John for the wonderful stay.

    Danielle2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Mountain View House is a charming location and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway. The house is immaculately maintained and is surrounded by a large tract of grassland with trails to explore. Laurie was a very considerate host. We forgot some of our papers when we left and she was kind enough to offer to post them to us. All in all it was a great experience!

    Sandeep2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and comfortable accommodations. Everything was as described, very quite, spacious and lots of privacy. Amazing views and access to nature and local attractions like the Shelburne Farm and Museum, while only a 15 min. drive to Burlington. Laurie was a wonderful host. She was responsive to our questions but gave us plenty of room to enjoy ourselves. She also gave us a great recommendation for a local pizza place, which is next to a microbrewery and a winery, worthy of a visit. We had mentioned it was our anniversary and she kindly had a bottle of champagne waiting for us at the house! This is a perfect location if you want to enjoy outdoor activities or a quite night on the porch. However, there's no food within walking distance in the residential area. The only inaccuracy in the description is that it includes a homemade breakfast but is was more of a continental breakfast (coffee, muffins, granola, fruit) but Laurie left everything in the refrigerator for us to eat whenever we were ready and it helped us start the day.

    Teresa2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The views from this property are stunning and Laurie and John could not be nicer hosts. The rooms are characterful, beds comfortable and breakfast homemade. My daughter particularly loved the blueberry and cinnamon cakes. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. We could not have been happier with the location or accommodation. Thank you once again

Near Burlington, tucked in nature, our home is full of tree sculptures and hide-away nooks. Three rooms available, this one has a hand-crafted double bed with hundreds of books on the shelves and a sweet evening wind. An ocean mural sets the scene.
Our house is magical. We have three rooms available that can be booked together or separately. (At this moment, only the Ocean room is listed.) They share one bathroom, with an antique copper tub a spacious shower and a sauna. The queen "tree house room" has a deck overlooking the sweeping black walnuts out back, and the hen house which matches the architecture of our home. The bed is topped with memory foam, with a down comforter. Thick curtains can black out the room for light-sensitive sleepers. The twin bedroom has two built in Swedish 'alcove' beds with sleigh sides, hand carved and painted. It is our daughters' bedroom, so it has fond memories on the walls. The Ocean room is named for the mural on the wall, and has a hand-crafted double bed under the window. There is a secret crawl-through space between the twin room and the double, just right for small children and cats. Our cat, Ulli, is hypoalergenic. Our puppy, Sal, is remarkably quiet, and stays in her contained area in the kitchen. Our hens will happily provide you with some breakfast, a full freshly baked meal for $12 pp or cereal / granola / yoghurt for $6. We are doing Air BnB to put our daughter through music conservatory, so our house is filled with music and instruments. You are welcome to bring yours along.
We live in a quiet, residential neighborhood surrounded by woods and bordered by a lovely river.
  • Really great accommodations that are super comfortable in a lovely Vt home. Very close to everything in Shelburne (and Burlington). And just great hosts who were very interactive and accommodating throughout the process. Highly recommended.

    Bill2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical place! All of the basic amenities were great. The house was adorable. The bed was super comfy and their hosting skills were phenomenal. But what really set this place apart was the other stuff. There's forest area behind the house with walking paths. They have their own chickens and bees and you're more than welcome to walk around and see them. They have a baby grand piano that they were totally open to me playing and having fun with. And also they have a puppy. And a sauna. These people know how to have a good life and were totally open to sharing that with me during my stay. Also I would highly recommend making a point to stay here if you like Harry Potter at all. (i.e. they have a quidditch field out back and broomsticks in the house)

  • We loved staying at Treewild with the Jameses. It's very warm and cosy with the coolest sapling vibe. We stayed in the Ocean Room in very comfortable bed, perfect for sleeping and leaning back and reading.. The shelves were lined with the most excellent books, many old favorites. Alison was very flexible and welcoming about our unplanned late arrival time too

    Ann2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Alison and Joplin were fantastic hosts. Although we never met Alison in person, she was very helpful and accommodating over the phone and via text. Joplin (and puppy Sal) are extremely friendly and welcoming. Treewild is a beautiful and charming home, and if I had it my way, I would only stay in Airbnbs as unique and cozy as this one!

    Olivia2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Alison was a wonderfully accommodating and supportive host. The house is definitely a treat to see!

    Elaine2016-05-16T00:00:00Z

  • What a delight it was to stay at Alison and Joplin's home. I felt welcomed and completely at home. The house is magical and Alison and Joplin were the perfect hosts. The bed was super comfy and I had everything I could need. I may not be able to stay anywhere else while I'm in the Burlington area from now on.

Our contemporary cottage is an unusual find in the rustic, bucolic environs of the Champlain Valley. High ceilings, lots of light, contemporary details and views connecting you to the outdoors from all directions.
Our guesthouse was built on our property in 2005 and sits within a meadow next to an apple orchard on 16 acres. It has an open floor plan in the living space and high ceilings giving it an airy, light feeling. There is one bedroom with a queen bed, and one full pull out couch. One bathroom with a walk in shower. Cozy in the cold with radiant floor heat! The house has a TV and we keep a collection of movies there that we love, but note that we don't subscribe to cable so networks are not available. The property is secluded from the road, but main roads are easily accessible, with Burlington 17 miles north (30 minutes in regular traffic) and Vergennes 6 miles to the south, a cute town with great restaurants, cafes and shopping. Plenty of out door space to lounge around, secluded from our house next door. Starry Night Cafe is 5 minutes south for those who don't like to cook! Many other restaurants within 15 minutes of the house by car. Montreal can be an easy day trip, about two hours north, and Mad River Valley ski resorts are about an hour. Closer skiing great for families with young children include Bolton Valley and the Middlebury Snowbowl, both 30 minutes. This house is best suited for a couple, a couple with children, or two couples that know each other well. Additional person requests will likely not be accepted as we'd like to keep the experience completely comfortable. Though we love dogs, we find it easier for all if the house remains pet free. We live in the big farmhouse next door with big glass garage doors and metal spheres surrounding the house, two Rhodesian Ridgebacks (friendly, pretty old dogs), and our 4 year old son. We are both artists with studios on site and grow lots of veggies in our large gardens. Expect to taste what's in season when you visit in the summer!
We have great restaurants so close by. And even though you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, we're actually right off of Rt. 7, the major north/south artery of western Vermont, so amenities are not that far (by Vermont standards). Vergennes is only 6 miles to the south and has good food, cafes, shops, and a supermarket, and Burlington, 17 miles north, is full of culture, food and boutique shopping.
  • Perfect little house in a beautiful setting! We stayed here for three nights with two adults in the bedroom and two young children on the pull-out sofa. The guest house was tastefully decorated and full of natural light. It was so convenient for us to have a kitchen, and it was more comfortable and a better value than a hotel. The kids also loved having room to roam outside after a long car ride!

    Andrea2013-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This house is fantastic, we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it. Quiet, very private, and a beautiful setting. Ideal for kids too. We hope to stay there many times in the future.

  • After a lovely day of driving through the rural landscape of VT, we happily arrived at this modern guest house set amongst fields and orchards. It's private setting was relaxing, the bright interior welcoming and comfortable. We found it's location perfect for our daily adventures. We look forward to returning again.

    Tina2013-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a glorious weekend in Ferrisburgh thanks to the incredible contemporary farmhouse that we stayed in. It was quite, beautiful and well appointed. Shuttling back and forth to Middlebury was that much more fun knowing that the end of the day we could return to this beautiful osasis in the forest. We hope to return often and be able to stay at the Vermont gem!

    Louis2014-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The property is lovely! The quarters are spacious and comfortable. It's a quiet getaway in a convenient location.

    Susan2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sara, her Husband and their child are wonderful, loving people. Their retreat on their wonderful piece of land was just what the doctor ordered. The high ceilings, windows and contemporary feel of the farmhouse was welcoming, masculine, but warm and fuzzy all the same. The proximity to amenities is perfect... there is wonderful food and drink, but you'll need a vehicle. My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights on a cold weekend and the farmhouse was warm and welcoming. I'd love to go during the warmer months and string up a hammock and look at the stars... they were incredible.

Our home is a original 1890's VT farmhouse with a modern timber frame addition, giving it a warm and homey, yet spacious, feel. Your bedroom and private bathroom are filled with natural light and clean comfortable furnishing. The bed has a new queen size mattress (see pictures) and is very comfortable. There is also a 1 person reclining lounge chair that can turn into a single bed for extra room. There are numerous common spaces int he house that we invite you to use, such as a screened in porch, back deck, front porch, living room, study and kitchen. Jeff is a VT native and grew up just up the road from the house we now live in. He is connected to many local small business and community members who offer great services. Some of these are listed below but we are happy to help you customize the Vermont country vacation of your imagination. Winter Sports - We're centrally located in the Champlain Valley at the foothills of Vermont famed Green Mountains which provides a lot of options when you're tracking storms and looking for fresh tracks. This garden apartment has an open floor plan, with 2 living rooms, a small kitchen / dining room, an open bedroom with a queen bed, (with a brand new 12" memory foam mattress,) and a bathroom with a Japanese soaking tub. One living room has a high-end sectional that makes a wonderful twin bed sleeping space. There is a window seat looking out at the side gardens, and the back living room is framed with windows out to the back gardens, with their spirit nests, and grass-roof chicken coop.

  • This was a very unique home. If you truly need separate bedroom due to one partner might like to stay up late and or the other snores than this will not work for you. As this is my scenario and why we did not do hotel. The pics they had listed are not the pictures of the place. I did see it said pics coming soon line but with the pictures they had I just assumed it was the place. If you have any kind of back issues this will not be your place as it is not actually a mattress it is more of a foam cushion that seems to have lost any and all of its cushion. It is a very unique property and very interesting if all the other things I listed don't pertain to your situation.

  • This is an amazing AirBnB that is perfect for your trip to Burlington. Location is convenient, only 20 minutes to the city and the quiet of the country. The house is comfortable with plenty of space and lounging areas. The owners are attentive, providing valuable tips for the area while respecting our privacy. You'll appreciate the art and creativity that surrounds the house and get to enjoy farm-fresh eggs if you chose.
