Lillibets 4 apartments are very CLOSE to the beach, restaurants and has great views. People enjoy the bird life. Relax and enjoy your home cooked food on the balcony while watching the beautiful view of the bay, the sea, the fishing boats, the palm trees and the splendour of the rain forest . Lillibets is ideal for those who wish to get away from it all and yet be within yards of the sea.
Peace and tranquillity is yours while having space to relax either on the wide balcony or inside our larger than the usual apartments . From the apartment you can stroll to the beach; have a choice of restaurants. If you want to be more adventurous go to the rain forest, go snorkling book scuba diving take a tour round the Island or take trip by boat to no mans land.
Our village is a small working fishing village . There are several small local restaurants and small shops for basic supplies. The local bars do have local entertainment on a few days during the week including drum night and pan night. During festivals and local holidays they do like to party for example the fishermen have a festival where local food is prepared by the people of the village. Qualified local guides can take you on trips to the rainforest or on an Island tour, Boat trips are a very popular activity in the local fishing boats; pirogue . Snorkelling and scuba diving is some of the best on the Island. One of my favourite pastimes is simply sitting on the balcony watching the wonderful bird life.
  • Thomas and Liz are great hosts, excellent communication. The place we rented has amazing view and is a very short walk away from a really nice beach. We really enjoyed our stay there and had all we needed ... Comfortable bed, warm shower, internet, kitchen ... We would definitely come back. Thank you very much Liz and Thomas.

  • Very nice beach view. You reach the beach in a few steps. While we had a bad experience finding the place (the address pointed on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map is the village not the place, local phone number wasn't working) they did make their best to catch up and make us feel good there. A bit noisy at night (dogs and roosters) but overall a very nice stay there.

    Ripple2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Nice experience: Liz/Thomas are very excellent host, they helped me a lot with a trouble I had with the car rental, they gave me all the informations needed and gave me tkts for the bus also! The house is very simple and basic, but has all you need. The view from the apartment is simply superb, and a lot of colorful birds come every day to visit the tourists. Simply enchanting! I highly recommend this accommodation to nature lovers

  • I can honestly say that we had the most amazing time staying in castara in the Lillibets suite. Tom and Liz were absolutely amazing! They ensured that our stay was superb. Every morning we woke up to paradise. If we could have stayed longer we would have! Until next time :)

  • We've spent 6 nights at lillibets (though, we just planned on staying for 2 nights). the apartment has a lovely terrace and is very spacious and clean. The hosts are very welcoming. we can highly recommend a stay at lillibets!

  • A wonderful place to stay in magical Castara

    Nadia2017-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house overlooks the smaller and more private Heavenly bay and has a wonderful view of the peninsula. I had a relaxing stay at the apartment. Make sure you get supplies (like water) on your way to the apartment as the shops are uphill.

Mot Mot is a spacious, well equipped, 3 bedroom apartment ideal for families and groups. It is in a beautiful hillside location, 3 minutes from the main beach in Castara and many of the little rum bars and eating places. There is a great wrap around 40 feet deck facing onto rain forest terrain. There is also a big open sun deck. It is a bird lovers paradise. Live with nature, in comfort.
Our home is unique in the village. We originally built it as our 'home from home'. We decided to make our entire ground level a 3 bedroom apartment to accommodate families or larger groups. The house can also be rented out as a two bedroom for a reduced price. We also have a studio apartment above. All bed rooms have air conditioning - essential for many guests in this climate. The kitchen is well equipped - with a microwave, large fridge and 6 ring cooker, blenders and coffee maker. There is a comfortable living-room area with satellite tv and strong wi fi through-out. The wrap around outside decks are fantastic places to sit - large and comfortable with great seating. All are fully covered and shaded - so even when the tropical rain comes you can stay outside. It looks onto natural rainforest terrain, including Avocado, mango and banana trees. Birdlife is first class and you are likely to see the same variety of birds here than in the forest itself. **** ** We are currently building a great NEW private plunge POOL which will be ready by the end of October. The only house in Castara to have this. Until then there is no pool - so we have a reduced price offer running until then.*****
Castara is a rustic fishing village. A true Caribbean gem. Many visitors return time and again. There are no polished hotels. No big developments. Everything is low key - as villagers we embrace all our local traditions of fishing, small garden farming, local baking, and of course festivals and celebrations. Music is a way of life. It is evolving, but essentially it still embraces a traditional, slow paced way of life.

Oceanview is a private, quality 1 bedroom apartment occupying half the lower level of Castara Roundhouse, a unique octagonal building overlooking Little Bay. (See separate listing for the 2 bedroom option.) With a 2 minute walk to the beach and a sea view from every room, this well equipped apartment provides top notch comfortable vacation accommodation. Humming birds and other wildlife can be seen from the comfort of your balcony as you enjoy a leisurely coffee or sundowner.
Please contact the owner for prices April 2018 onwards. As well as the spectacular views of the Bay, Oceanview still retains the sense of being located on the edge of the rainforest. The apartment has great sound proofing and the full stereo provided can be enjoyed without bothering the upstairs house and vice versa. The kitchen and wood furniture is locally made from ethically managed wood from Trinidad. A cooler and ice pack is provided making picnics manageable.
Castara is a friendly fishing village popular for visitors wanting a different and unique vacation experience. Guests find it refreshing to become part of a local community rather than designated holiday resorts. Its location alone is fantastic and its proximity to the oldest protected rainforest in the Caribbean is the backdrop for lush sandy beaches. The reef at Little Bay is great for snorkelling, and there is a diving instructor available for enthusiasts.
  • Roundhouse was fantastic! Jenny was a great host and we had a fantastic stay. Castara was beautiful and the people are great. Brandon and Amy

  • Lovely view from your balcony of the sea and greenery, in small village. Walking distance from some shops and restaurants. Chilled place to stay and relax with many friendly locals. Jenny is a great host.

    Helen2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jennys place is lovely and exactly as described and pictured - very clean and comfortable. The convenient veranda made interaction with hummingbirds and all kinds of animals a daily treat. Close to stores and a great snorkling and swimming beach.

    Maria2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny's Oceanview Roundhouse is wonderfully hidden in plain sight on Depot Rd. As you walk down the steps the rest of the world is left behind, the patio looks out and down to Castara Bay where the steady rhythm of the surf mixes with the distant sounds of Soca or Reggae music along with the call of birds. There is a beautiful flowering tree that is constantly being visited by hummingbirds. The apartment has a relaxing comfortable decor, a full kitchen, a big showered bathroom (with plenty of hot water and good pressure), the poster bed is hung with very light insect netting so no annoying buzzing in your ears just as you're falling asleep. With the bedroom sliding door left open with the screen allowing the breeze mixed with the large overhead fans falling asleep comes quickly. The next morning is first greeted by the crowing of roosters, followed by the early light. Jenny has been kind enough to supply an great assortment of books about the amazing eco-world of Tobago. Also, if needed she supplies full hi-speed access to the internet for those of us who need to keep in touch. If you sit quietly on the patio the hill comes to life with everything from "yardies" (free range chickens) to numerous songbirds and even the local version of what looks like a very timid groundhog/prairie dog. All in all I could go on, experiencing the accommodations that Jenny is offering is the best way to enjoy Castara! We will be returning!!

    Keith2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny is a very accomodating host. Helpful and on hand when you need her, and giving you time and space when you don't. Great view from balcony nicely furnished. If you don't have a car, walking hill into town and back is great exercise.

  • Hi, Kurt was an amazing host, trying his best to have his guest satisfied. He helped me to organize a diving trip and gave me fresh mangos from the trip everyday. The room is big, very new with AC, hot and cold water and a small kicthen, maybe a bit dark ( but you do not spend your day in the room, the upper rooms are brighter ( a bit more pricier)). Also it was very very clean ( the cleanest airbnb I ever been) !!! You have lounge chairs in the garden if you want to relax and the beach is literally at a 2 minutes walk. Thank Kurt for everything!

  • This is an excellent location, really 2 minutes to the beach on foot. Kurt and Ivy's place is in Castara, a little fishing village on the north coast (Caribbean side). Castara is a warm, hospitable and quaint place with something for all ages. The beach is gorgeous! There is no algae growth or rocks, just sand. As far as the apartments go, you could eat off the floor. Kurt and Ivy are always cleaning. Beside the apartments it's like a forest of tropical growth, banana trees etc., just beautiful. There are lots of birds to watch. Kurt arranged for transportation to and from the airport, which is about a 45 minute drive. Kurt an Ivy answered all our questions and went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. We would definitely recommend their place and we'll be back!

  • We couldn't have wished for a better stay, Kurt is a generous and kind host who went out of his way to accommodate us. We had a great week at his place and were very comfortable in the spacious and well-equipped apartment. We felt welcome and looked after from the very start when Kurt picked us up from the ferry and drove us to a supermarket to do a big shop for our week's stay. Castara is a beautiful quiet fishing village and the apartment is only a few meters away from the beach. Kurt and his wife made sure we had everything we needed and answered our every question, and the other guests were a pleasure to get to know as well. We'd love to come back and would stay with Kurt again any time.

Leapfrog is a self-contained apartment located in the idyllic village of Castara on the north (Caribbean) coast of the island of Tobago. It is a 5 minute stroll from two beautiful beaches and the village centre.
Leapfrog is a lovely apartment located beneath our larger villa, Toad Heights. It has a patio with sun-loungers and has access to the barbecue behind Toad Heights. It has a comfortable kitchen/living area, separate bedroom & bathroom.
Castara is a beautiful village with everything you might need for a peaceful vacation. There are several bars & restaurants and the inhabitants are freindly and welcoming.
  • It is a really great place in a really great village. Nice views from the home and very comfortable.

  • Stephen is great host. He helped us with everything what we asked for. The service is also very good. Pictures are exactly as the reality, apartment is small but you can find everything what you need for comfortable stay. It is amazing to sit on the veranda in front of the apartment and listen the music from the vilage. The beach is about 5 - 10 minutes slower walk, nothing very exacting. Small shop is immediately on the main road, 2 minutes from apartment. Shortly I can recommend it to everybody who likes to spend time in authentic atmosphere of the vilage.

  • Toad Hall is a lovely little apt mins from the beach. The rental is basic but very welcoming. You have a great little outdoor area and the kitchen is perfect for the essentials. Castara is a quite little town close to some of the most amazing beaches on Tobago. Great little beachfront restaurants within walking distance. Sophie looks after the property and is very helpful. Would recommend Toad Hall for a low key rental. Thank you Stephen.

Our house is set in a friendly fishing village on the edge of the rainforest on the Caribbean side of Tobago. Both beaches are a short walk, safe for bathing/snorkeling/sunbathing-the main beach has lifeguards. The self catering studios are great for couples, solo adventurers & friends who just want to get away & relax. They have queensize beds, a pullout single, long balcony which is perfect for Al Fresco dining, bird watching & sunsets with a cold drink! Well equipped kitchen-lge f/f, no m/wave
The house it set above the Northside Road with views across Castara bay. Both studios are light cool and airy with sea views even from the beds! The gardens around the house have fruit (banana, cocoa, mango), veg & herbs growing for you to share when they are in season. Please feel free to walk around the gardens or use the communal BBQ--its all there for you to share! There is a full length balcony with table & chairs so that you can eat Al fresco, watch the birds and sip a cold drink as the sun goes down! Queensize beds ( made in the village from red cedar )have full nets, the studio is tiled through out with a large wetroom bathroom with hot and cold water! There is a fully equipped kitchen area with extra large fridge, crockery & cutlery for 4, loungers for the balcony and fans for those nights when there is no breeze! Designed to be as eco friendly as possible, The house was built using all local tradesmen and local materials wherever possible. All our 'grey' water does not enter the sea as is alas quite common here. It is being recycled and goes back onto the land, currently to try and improve our pineapple crop!
Castara is a small fishing village where you will soon end up interacting with the local people. Village life starts with sunup and you will get into the slower pace of life here! Come to relax, catch a fish, pull the seine net maybe and stop thinking about work and more about that novel you said you would write !
  • This place is perfect if you like to sit on a balcony watching humming-birds and the caribbean sea. Real close to the sea so you can easily take a swim in morning when you just woke.

  • Yvonne and Chris' place is amazing! The pictures do not do justice to how spacious, clean and well stocked the rooms are, or how beautiful the view is from the balconies. I can't stress enough how pleased I was with the actual accommodation. The location itself, in Castara, is also worth mentioning as it was probably my favourite place out of the 3 places I stayed in T&T, the beach is beautiful and very close to other beaches (i.e. Englishman's Bay), there are restaurants with amazing home made food, bars, small supermarkets etc. everything you could need, all in walking distance. It was also very safe and friendly. The housekeeper, Rachel and driver, Panday are what really made our stay memorable. They were so helpful, friendly, kind, professional and generally just great - can't imagine our stay without them. I would 100% recommend staying here to anyone!

  • Absolutely fantastic! Well equipped room with the most perfect location! Joshua and Ria were very attentive hosts. Wish I could go back!

  • Arrived late after a bit of trouble with the taxi but Joshua met up with a smile. The room was perfectly OK for the price, the neighborhood was quiet and very close to the beach. There was only one problem and that was that in Castara, there seems that only one place serves breakfast and opening times may vary depending on whether he whom runs the place feel like it. A day 9 another 10. Otherwise, Castara is wonderful.

    Lars2015-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Accomodation: The room was exactly as advertised and clean and well kept. We stayed in a 4 person room and the beds were equipped with Mosquito nets to keep out the bugs, a very thoughtful touch. There was a tiny kitchen and bathroom attached that was quite suitable for our needs. There was a view of the sea and a balcony to sit on but it was so close to the beach that it was better to just spend time on the beach instead. Josh and Service: Josh was really nice and thoughtful host. He welcomed us with some carib beers and helped us with whatever we needed. He took us on a small hike to a waterfall nearby with a pool that was really beautiful and was fun to "lime" with. He let us use his laptop to help plan and was very accommodating of our needs in terms of organizing cab rides and tours as well as our housekeeping needs. Similarly the service was really good. Our flush didnt work properly and Joshua had it fixed for us as soon as we told him about it for example. Josh def manages the place well. Castara itsel:. Castara is quite a small town so dont go expecting too many amenities, but it has a very secluded charm to it. It is well situated near in that it is easy to get to the rainforest for a hike and get to the further north ends where the good snorkeling is. Englishmans Bay which is nearby is nice as well for snorkeling and very easy to do without any kind of guide. In terms of the local restaurants there are only 3-4 places to eat in the neighborhood and they are all OK. There is also a medium sized convenience store with basic amenities and groceries. There is a really nice bar nearby where there are cheap rum punches and limbo contests on Wednesday nights. The main activities to do around there is look for trails/tours in the (beautiful) rainforests and explore the many beaches for snorkeling; otherwise it is good to just relax in some coves. Charlottesville and Speyside are supposed to have the best snorkeling in Tobago and its easy to get there. We didnt get a chance to go but even Englishmans bay was good snorkeling. The people are really laidback and the atmosphere is very slow and lazy. Note that taking cabs here can be pretty expensive and hiring tour guides etc can cost a lot, so budget well. The entire economy of Tobago runs on tourism so things are expensive (food too is similar to US prices). However, its not that hard to rent a car and go exploring on your own. Especially the beaches, the areas with good snorkeling can be found online. All in all living at Castara was a really fun experience and Josh made the stay at Sea-level guest house easy and enjoyable. We personally didnt find anything to be spectacular or...

  • We stayed at Sealevel guesthouse for a week. The guesthouse is situated very close to the amazing Castara beach and from our room we had nice view on the sea. The apartment is rather basic and little poor on kitchen equipment (no kettle for example). However as you will be not spending a lot of time in a room or cooking it is not a big issue. Joshua is always helpful and eager to answer your questions. He organized a taxi for us when we were living Castara. He can also advise on places worth visiting or parties going on in the village :) Oh and some welcome drinks were there too :) Please note that Castara is a village where people have a lot of dogs and chickens and you need to accept some noise :) But still it is worth visiting because of a beautiful beach, nice people and good food.

    Tomasz2016-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Sealevel Guesthouse was memorable. My interactions with Ria (house manager) and Dwayne (chef) helped make this family trip even more special. They were super accommodating and offered helpful suggestions. The room was clean and well kept. The entire compound was clean, well kept, and beautiful. We stayed in apartment #2, we had a view of the ocean and a spectacular view of the sunset each night. I could go on and on about my amazing experience in the town of Castara, the people, the hospitality, the beautiful beaches, etc. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an island get away.

  • Great place to take in Castara and lime with other guests both staying long and short term. Good digs here =)

  • We (couple) were staying for three days and took another two days at this cosy place. The house is well maintained, very clean and there is a warm welcoming and always a helping hand from Ria (onsite-Mgmt). You can enjoy the silence on nice private balconies over the garden with a glimpse of the ocean. It is just off the beach and close to little shops, restaurants and bars. This is the right place to explore the north coast, beaches, rainforrest ...all close by. You can even do a little walk to a waterfall just 5mins behind the football field. Great place, worth the TT's :-)

    Stefan2014-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We (young couple) stayed in Sealevel Guesthouse for 9 Nights. We got attracted by those very good ratings and recommendations of other travelers and since we've been there we absolutely confirm the ratings and good memories. Josh and his outstanding staff (Thank you Alex and David!!!) took care of us and fulfilled every need we had! They instantly became friends more than "just" hosts! We recieved a lot of "local" tipps, the food they offer through their kitchen was typical Tobagan and veeeeery delicious! Our room was as described and very clean; and we had a wounderful view on the bay. Several different birds (even hummingbirds) visited uns during breakfast every morning and the nice and silent garden surrounded our room! The integrated kitchen in our appartement has everything you need to cook for yourselves. All in all we recommend Sealevel Guesthouse a 100% to other travelers! If you have a car (we had one) Castara is perfectly located on Tobago if you want to do day-trips (we especially recommend Englishmen's Bay (10min drive) and Pirates Bay (Charlotteville, 30min drive)) Castara is very central to reach every hidden beach or sight on the island within max. 1 hour! Furthermore all locals in Castara were caring and very friendly to us. We had a lot of good talks, fun, evenings and quality time which made our stay just perfect! We advise you to respect their friendlyness and it's promised they treat you as Kings and Queens! Now, since we're back home, we deeply miss the bassy soca-vibes, wobbling through the streets, the easy-going, liming and of course the carribean ambience! Tobago is the definition of Paradise and Josh and his crew were a main part of this! Thank you all @Sealevel for making our two weeks the most wonderful journey we had so far. We definately will come back, one day! With the warmest regards, Jean and Manuel

A great base from which to explore the rest of the island with the pristine Englishman’s Bay a mere 5 minute drive and the protected Rainforest Reserve a leisurely 20 minutes away. The neighbouring rainforest gives visitors ample opportunity for hiking, bird-watching or exploring the tropical flora and fauna with a local guide. An impressive coral reef just metres from the beach allows even inexperienced snorkelers to come face-to-face with majestic angelfish, sea turtles and the friendly stingrays that frequent the bay each afternoon. • This cottage is very well located. It's walking distance to two lovely beaches and plenty of places to eat if you don't feel like cooking. Cooking is made easy though as the kitchen is fully stocked. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that the tap water is drinkable too! The only drawback that we discovered was that the walls are very open and in the case of the living room, the bottom half is just chicken wire. This allows for the mosquitoes to enter at their leisure. There are mosquito nets over the beds that are of some help, but if you are like us (our fair haired bloodline is like fairy nectar for the insects) then I would recommend that you come fully prepared with your favourites bug spray as well as some citronella candles! We did not meet our hosts in person, but their representative Carolyn was a delight to engage with. She gave us a ton of information on where to shop, and things to see - she even loaned us some beach towels as we had failed to pack ours. Then... she came back with a set of flippers for me as I had mentioned that I would like to try snorkelling and couldn't pack mine. She really went the extra mile. Sadly, on our last night, there was a problem with the water pump and we were unable to work in the kitchen, flush the toilet, shower or get cleaned up after a day of hiking. Carolyn did everything she could to fix the situation, but it simply could not be done. We decided that it would be best if we went to a nearby hotel for the night. There was some mention that it might be possible to be compensated for the evening and I have written the hosts requesting that this be looked at, but I have not received a response as of writing this review. It's my last opportunity to write before the option to make a review expires, but I remain hopeful that they will reply...

  • Amazing hollidays in Tamarindo Cottage in Castara!! Very nice cottage, well equiped and decorated..we've felt like at home.. Placed arround the Nature..diferents birds like colibris..Very close to the beach to spot plenty of stingrays snorkelling. Castara is excellent, in the middle point in the map..is easy to visit the rest of the island.Joshua and Carolyn were really nice and polite and the comunication with Anne and Yvonne, the owners, also excellent..they prepared the transport from the airport to (URL HIDDEN) doubt, if we come back, we'll stay here if possibe. Highly recommended. Come to Castara Cottage!

  • Our host made our trip a success. She arranged for our pickup and transport to the apartment. Her representative was very helpful giving us advice about the local amenities and sights. The apartment was very well appointed and it was especially nice to find all types of kitchen utensils and associated cookware onsite. We were surprised to have a blender so we made fruit smoothies every day. Everything in the apartment functioned well and if we were not at the beach during the day we enjoyed relaxing on the outside deck. We would love to return in the future.

  • Everything was perfect for our group's week in Tobago. The house was very spacious, clean, and great for a large group. We spent most evenings cooking up a feast with fresh veggies and fish and lounging by the pool. The house is conveniently located to Castara, and other villages with plenty to do. Jango, Glynnis, and Adam were extremely helpful during our stay and gave us assistance with directions, suggestions, etc. A car is needed to get around.

  • A brilliantly equipped and beautiful villa in hills over Englishman's Bay (surely one of the best beaches in the Caribbean). We will return another day for a more extended trip with friends.

  • The house is even more beautiful in person. Jamie sent us a very helpful guide with a lot of useful information for our stay in Tobago. We enjoyed our stay with our children and family. Jango was so helpful during our stay with directions and information. Glynnis and Adam were also great. We will come back and refer our friends.

  • Wow! What an incredible place- we spent 10 glorious days here with iguana's and hummingbirds for company high up in the Tobago rainforest canopy. Great house, built to ensure maximum relaxation ( liming ) Love it - hope to get back some time

  • This a lovely spacious residence and in beautiful surroundings. Set up high at the end of a long winding track it is a really peaceful setting and has lovely views. We had a fantastic time relaxing by the pool and watching the sun go down from the deck outside the 'little house'. We also spent time enjoying spotting the birds and wildlife. The house has lots of amenities including TV, books and games. We love Tobago and would love to come back to here. The drive might be tricky if you are not used to steep climbs so a four wheel drive might better suit some people. Staff are on hand to give advice and were very friendly and accommodating.

  • Adam went above and beyond to make us feel safe and welcome. As a group of 4 young girls traveling to a place we had never been before, he understood our weariness regarding interactions with strangers and did very well to address that weariness by providing genuine comfort with legitimate and sound advice on how to address the locals properly and respectfully. We arrived really late (about midnight) and Adam still greeted us so pleasantly, with open arms, and a few shots of Tequila for my birthday! He was fantastic about answering the phone, even in the wee hours of the night, and he was kind enough to help us with our luggage. His wife Keisha was equally as pleasant and she even braided my hair for my birthday as well! He introduced us to his kids, who were beautiful and lovely, and their family dynamic was part of why we felt so at home at Sandcastles. The space is gorgeous, a wonderful balance of both indoor and outdoor private space, and the mosquito nets worked really well. There is nothing quite like waking up to that view in the center dining area, and being able to walk down to Castara Village/Beach just down the hill. Many tourists apparently stay in Crown Pointe, and travel into Castara for a day trip, but I HIGHLY suggest you do what we did, and that's stay in Castara, and travel to whatever other villages you might want to while in Tobago. If you want to feel like a tourist, do the former; but if you want to feel like a local and experience the same warm welcome and hospitality we experienced, do what we did and stay in Castara (specifically at Sandcastles). While in Castara, make sure you make the short trek down to the village/beach and visit Andy's bar. The guys there have great energy and are happy to greet you with drinks at great price points. Adam is happy to provide any info/advice/tips on how to do Tobago the right way, so make sure you utilize him as he is a fantastic resource. Adam and Sandcastles are a huge part of why our trip to Tobago was so amazing and unforgettable, and I would suggest them to anyone. I will also always stay with Adam whilst in Tobago in the future!

  • Adam was a great host. Very knowledgable of the area and helpful with any questions we had. The place had a beautiful view with Cocricos in the early morning and bats at night. It was close to one of the nicest beaches in Tobago.

The cottages at Englishman's Bay are set amid three acres of lushly landscaped grounds. Stone walkways and trails that wander through the property were designed to explore the gardens, landscape features and scenic view points. The cottages are located on lot #2, on a hillside just above the bay. From there on a forested trail, it is a five minute walk to reach the end of the beach, where the river breaches the sand and meets the sea. The location of the cottages provides equally easy access to both marine and mountain environments. Nature trails, some not known to the public, wind their way up into the rain forest or down into cascading rivers with "secret" waterfalls and dipping pools. Down by the sea, the beach and bay offer sand and sea recreation such as snorkeling on near pristine fringing reefs. The Caribbean can be explored on boat excursions for fishing, diving or coastal cruising. A favorite boat trip is to be dropped off at a secluded beach for a picnic and a Robinson Crusoe kind of day. Tucked into a corner of the property with over hanging shade trees, the Arbor Cottage is secluded. Yet from the front of the building there remains the vista of tropical foliage descending to the sea. The cottage features carefully crafted woodwork that glows with a honey-like tone. It is an "open house" with banks of windows that seem to draw in the gardens. It has six foot roof overhangs, high ceilings and ceiling fans that help keep the interior cool and breezy. The accommodations include two bedrooms with a connecting bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with all amenities. The focal feature of the living room is a twelve foot long window seat overlooking the gardens and the sea beyond. Beside the kitchen is a shade garden for barbequing or just "liming". It is an "outdoor room", with a flagstone terrace, field stone walls and "roofed over" with an arbor and shade trees.
The cottages are part of the Englishman's Bay residential community which is dedicated to the conservation of the health and beauty of the natural environment. Homes are separated by tropical forest ensuring peace and privacy for all. The nearby fishing villages have restaurants, bars, small grocery stores and an ATM machine.

  • You have to stay here! The location is perfect, overlooking Englishman's Bay with a beautiful view and next to a small village, Castara, with a couple restaurants that you should go to for dinner. It's located on a plot of land owned by Rick and maintained extremely well (including the actual cottage). He was very helpful and gave us some advice on what to do/see, the house will be stocked with plenty of bath towels and other essentials. If you really want a true Caribbean/Tobagan experience then look no futher. I could not be happier with staying here.

Castara is rustic, beautiful fishing village with a vibrant community in the heart of Tobago. It is built around two beaches and sits on the edge of a protected rainforest. Our house is on the hillside, but just a few minutes walk down to the beach and the centre of the village. You are surrounded by birds lush rainforest terrain. It is a gorgeous spot. Our home is ideal for families and groups - with great bedrooms and lots of inside and outside space.
Our home is unique in the village. We originally built it as our 'home from home'. Our spacious lower Mot Mot is great for families or larger groups. We also have a studio apartment above. All bed rooms have air conditioning - essential for many guests in this climate. The kitchen is well equipped - with a microwave, large fridge and 6 ring cooker and blenders and coffee maker. ***** We are currently building a great NEW private plunge POOL which will be ready by the end of October. The only house in castara to have this. Until then there is no pool - so we have a reduced price offer running until then.**
We are in a lovely spot - part of the village and our neighbours are very friendly. Castara is a rustic fishing village.

  • We have just returned from a blissful week with Trevor in Rainbow. The place is wonderful and the views stunning. The kitchen was well equipped and there was nothing better than picking up a mahi-mahi from the pier on our way back from the beach to grill at home and eat looking out over the bay at sundown. We will definitely be making a return visit if/ when we venture back to Tobago.

    Rachel2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • loved the house itself and the view was great. really enjoyed the pool. however, it's difficult to get to due to the terrain. when we stayed there were bats living under the kitchen cabinets. don't stay here if you can't tolerate bugs and flying animals invading your space, it is an open air house. Trevor is very easy going.

    Caitlin2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay if you're a nature-lover, the hike to the waterfall is exceptional! The wifi isn't the strongest so I wouldn't recommend to stay if you're expecting to constantly be on the internet. It is however a wonderful place to explore nature and relax!

    Bik Lan2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Trevor's place was absolutely wonderful, beautiful views, incredible infinity pool, the house so open and airy, fully equipped kitchen. My family enjoyed the stay. The waterfall is a trek but well worth it. We would definitely stay here again.

    Debbie2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This house is much roomier and bigger than the pics show. It exceeded our expectations! The personal waterfall was excellent along with the 10 minute hike to get to it. The beach is 5 minutes away, and everyone is super friendly. We did not want to leave. You definitely get the rainforest experience. The apartment is very open, with big windows, so do expect a few outside visitors to come inside to include pigeons, bats, etc. They do not pose a threat, but simply come in to say hello once in a while lol. He does have several other apartments for rent on the same property, all different sizes, to accommodate your family. The pool does not have a shallow end (7-8 feet deep in all corners), so may not be best experience for kids or non-swimmers ( it does have some steps for non swimmers to sit on). WE CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN.

  • Rainbow villa was an oasis of tranquility in the beautiful island of Tobago. There's nothing better than sitting in a hammock listening to the music of the forest or cooling down in a plunge pool with a bottle of Stag staring out to sea or watching the Cocoricos, Jacamars and Motmots swirling and swooping around the canopy of the rainforest. A perfect day would be to be woken by the throaty squawk of the Cocorico, grab a coffee and breakfast outside and then head off to Englishmans Bay to lounge and snorkel on a perfect Caribbean beach. Around 3pm head for Parlatuvier pier and wait for the fisherman to come in and buy yourself a couple of red snapper for dinner. You can laze to your hearts content in beautiful surroundings or, being ideally placed in the north of the island, get active and hike in the rainforest, kayak, cycle, fish or dive. Trevor is a welcoming host and personifies the laid back, friendly charm of this island. If you're prepared to kick back and embrace the easygoing pace of life then you will enjoy a great holiday. For those that are interested, wifi is good (enough to FaceTime etc) and I'd recommend getting a 4x4 as the approach to the villas is a hilly and uneven dirt track.

  • Beautiful spot to unwind and relax! Trevor is an amazing host who is always available when you have a questions but is respectful of your privacy. It is a long walk into town so rent a vehicle - it is a good spot for a home base as you explore the island. Parlatuvier beach is amazing. The store by the pier is well stocked for supplies and the sunset restaurant has great food!! Head to the pier in the afternoon and get fresh fish. Glasgow bar is a great spot for a cold drink and amazing views. Take a hike in the main ridge forest or walk to Trevor's waterfall - helpful to have a walking stick. Trevor always has one for guests to use. Bring bug deterrents as there are mosquitos Trevor has bug nets over all of the beds which is helpful. Wings is a cute little cabin with everything you need. The views of the forest are beautiful and the nights show off plenty of stars and insect lights. Rainbow has beautiful breezes through the large windows and an amazing pool for cooling down. It would be a perfect place for two couples to share as the upstairs is split into two suites each with a bathroom and two beds. The views from both bedrooms are breathtaking. This really was our favourite spot in Tobago! We found Castara to be crowded and unfriendly - especially the bread oven ladies! Parlatuvier to Roxborough is the most beautiful drive and a great place to refuel and get groceries. Trevor has everything you need in his properties and is very helpful if you have questions. It is truly the best spot on the island!!! There is a beautiful little shop with wonderful fruit on the right hand side of the road coming into Parlatuvier from Castara. The owner was very friendly and the pineapples were amazing.

  • This home had amazing views and is located in a great spot. The waterfalls were a lot of fun, and Trevor was a helpful host. Definitely worth a visit if you are planning to be in this side of the island.

A separate smaller house on the property, Essex Cottage, which has two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath.
Essex Cottage is situated on the top of the hillside overlooking the sea. Our idea was to create a tree house open to the view of sea, valley and bird life. With shutters open, window along the length of the house catch the sea breezes while the vented cathedral ceiling keeps it cool and comfortable. It has two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom. There is a queen sized bed upstairs and two twin beds downstairs. The main bedroom has space to accommodate an extra bed. An outside staircase connects the downstairs bedroom. The cottage has large porch with comfortable seating, a fully equipped kitchen and large dining area. It is rented on a self-catering basis. Guests have full access to the pool and garden.
Discovering Tobago is like finding your own personal tropical Paradise. The island has retained its local charm, unspoiled surroundings and spectacular views of the sea and tropical landscapes. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore and relax in its natural beauty. High on a cliff overlooking the sea, Gloucester Place commands one of Tobago’s finest views of the Caribbean in one direction and the Rain Forrest Reserve in the other. Just a short walk from the picturesque fishing village of Parlatuvier, this area is considered one of the loveliest on the island. From the veranda, guests can enjoy the mesmerizing crashing of waves against the rocks, daily migrations of frigate birds as they cruise along the coast, or listen to the cries of the cocricos, chatter of the parrots, and songs of other island birds.
  • Essex Cottage is romantic and everything we were looking for. My dream house! Perfect for a romantic getaway. Wake to the sounds of the national bird and go see who is feasting on fresh fruit in the bamboo bird feeder. I strongly suggest getting groceries prior to arrival as the nearest shop is very small/limited and down a very steep, though scenic, road. But the folks are nice and you can get some basics and support Parlatuvier small economy. I left my heart in Tobago and I can't wait to come back for it!

  • I had a great time at Beatrice's place. This area is very quiet and surrounded by beautiful beaches. There is also the opportunity to do some nice hiking to waterfalls. The cottage is amazing and when you look at the view you think that you are in paradise.

At 'Sundowner' we offer a beautiful, large, self-contained 2 bed apartment with private infinity pool. In a unique position, overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Sundowner enjoys stunning, uninterrupted views of sea, mountains and rain forest.
Sundowner is ideally located for exploring Tobago -especially the great beaches and rain forest in the north part of the Island.
We're in a quiet location - away from the noisy bars and traffic at the south end of Tobago. Most of our guests are happy to self-cater for the majority of their stay, using our really nice, well equipped kitchen. However, we have really nice beaches and local restaurants close by (Castara is 15 mins. by car - Mount Irvine area 20-25 mins). Local shops in Moriah village (5 mins.) - supermarkets 20-25 mins away)
  • This is a lovely and private location. There is a large balcony with a beautiful view of the mountains and ocean. We did not try to walk to the ocean because it was muddy and steep. There is another outdoor seating area by a lovely infinity pool. It is so beautiful it is hard to decide where to sit. There is an elliptical and a weight bench on one porch. Otherwise you would be hard-pressed to find a place to work out. We were there in the off-season and many businesses were closed. No matter what the season, though, one has to drive to restaurants, stores, and beaches. The kitchen is large and well-equipped. The neighborhood is hilly and rural and makes for some interesting walks. Would recommend this to anyone but a car is a must. The owners were not there when we were, but the caretaker, Rizo, was there and he gave us great tips of the island and look after us. He even drove us around the island one day on his own time. Would definitely stay here again if ever on Tobago.

  • Our troubles at Sundowner: MOSQUITOES: Upon check-in in the evening found the house was infested by mosquitoes. Following morning we discovered that mosquito larvae were swimming in stagnant water in the broken-down dishwasher. We all got very badly bitten for days. On Day 4 at night, in desperation, the caretaker sprayed DET which seemed to work some but we felt sick from inhaling the chemicals. We had to use bug spray any time of day inside and around the house. TOILET: When we first got there the toilet flush would not work. It continued not to work most of the time we were there, and when it did work took several tries to flush once. SPIDERS: Every plate/mug/glass/object/cupboard/shelf had spiders hanging from it, had spider webbing on it. Spiders/dead beetles inside glasses/dishes in the cupboard. There were spiders every place 2 walls meet and at the ceiling all over the house. Not the few that are expected in a tropical place, talking about one every 12 inches on average. Balcony and all furniture there were exceptionally dirty. Cleaning lady came evening of Day 4 while we were cooking dinner to perform a peripheral minor dusting. DISHWASHER: Dishwasher doesn’t work. We waited several times over the first few days for the technician who didn’t show up until the night of Day 4. Tech didn’t come back with replacement part(s) to fix while we were there. The owner tried to blame us for the broken dishwasher - alleging that we threw food into it! Also, afraid of what we would find, we never even opened the oven door. “NEED PROOF”??: Owner asked us to send him pictures/videos of the dishwasher with mosquitoes flying out of it and of the spiders around the house. Unfortunately, we were unable to send him those while we were in his house due to the slow wi-fi. He misconstrued this as our gripe about the speed of the wi-fi(URL HIDDEN)What we liked: Picturesque view from the swimming pool and back of the house. Owner was very responsive through email answering questions and providing information before our trip. He was also communicating with us until Day 4 of our trip trying to get issues resolved. Caretaker Rizo was extremely helpful, over and beyond the call of duty. Took a day off from work to help us. Rizo even took us into the rainforest. There’s place to park a rental vehicle which is a must to get around. A/C in the bedrooms kept the mosquitoes at bay at night while we slept.

Orange Cottage located on the sandy beach of pristine Parlatuvier Bay. You are readily immersed into the lush natural surroundings by our large outdoor living spaces. The cottage sleeps 4-6 persons and has been upgraded with modern appliances.
A classic wooden cottage (set on half acre of land with numerous flowering and fruit-bearing trees) on the sandy beach of the Parlatuvier Bay, next to a crystal, fresh-water stream of the nearby 3- tier waterfall. Full of activities like Swimming, jogging, Kayaking, Peddle boating, Paddle Surfboarding, Snorkeling, Nature walks, waterfall, rainforest tours, island tours, boat rides, pier fishing - Island living to the fullest!
Kind, open friendly people. Serene, calming, peaceful atmosphere, perfect place to revitalise and rejuvenate. Villa is located next to a fishing jetty/pier where fresh fish are brought in everyday from the boats. Large Manta rays at times swim under the pier on evenings. Large Sheltered bay, divided in the middle by the long pier: one half with cool, calm waters for swimming, peddle boating or kayaking, and the other half with coral stone reefs - great for paddle surfboarding, snorkeling and catching lobsters!
  • This place is amazing and the pictures we saw online when we first fell in love with this cottage is why we booked our reservation. However, actually driving up to the Villa was overwhelmingly beautiful and breathtaking and can't compare to the real thing. The cottage is so close to the beach and the deck was a favorite place to hang out having our morning coffee, playing cards during the day, eating our meals, and especially enjoying the colorful sunsets.... you literally felt like the beach was your front yard. The local marts were in walking distance and had most everything you need. If you engage with the locals they go out of their way to make us feel welcome and live the Tobago way. You can buy fresh fish everyday on the jetty and/or take a fishing excursion with a local. We recommend: walking to the Rainbow Waterfall to swim (5-10 min walk), Rainforest Tour with the Argyle waterfall, Snorkeling at Englishmen's Bay, Drumming at Castara Wednesday nights, Sunday school on Sundays (locals will explain), Pirates Bay Beach is beautiful (recommended by boat), and we heard that Pigeon Point and the Nylon Pool were amazing as well. The caretakers of the Villa were very attentive to what we needed and answered any questions we had. They also have a outdoor house dog named "Trini" that stole our hearts. We vacationed in August and it did rain on and off during the day but we had plenty of sunshine. Bring bug spray for different times of the day. We were so happy with our time in Tobago and especially at the Villa. The place gave us an authentic experience of the island of Tobago and it impacted us enough to return another day.

  • My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at Villa Di Sorrisi. The Villa is an absolute haven. Sarah was nothing but helpful and accommodating, we would definitely stay here again.

    Maya2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • I have always wanted to live on a beach (tropical sea was an advantage) and the stay at Villa di Sorrisi was as close as it gets to my dream come true. The position is equalled by any other property around - and only when we got there we realised we simply made the best choice for our style of traveling: no driving, laid-back, low maintenance but everything handy. You have the beach three steps away, a little river running into the sea nearby, the fisherfolk peer right there (you can buy fish and lobster from them!) The house is very homey and has that "family feeling". Well equipped, all appliances in good working order, some house supplies availabe (cleaning substances, matches, candles, etc) The little things that you don't think about until you badly miss them:) We enjoyed the assistance of Lindell - driver, guide and genius locus, a very pleasant and useful presence. Very serious too - which is of essence when you have early morning flights. I recommend the place full heartedly, especially to families or people close enough that they do not mind some breach of intimacy in the house. And if you go there in the rainy season (as we did), bring you own anti-mosquitos products (meaning the ones you like and trust). There is no guarantee that you will find them on the island. Sarah did a wonderful job briefing us in due time about the house, the local connections and contacts. A brief with the needed info is available in the house. Internet worked well in the big room and on the deck. I would return there any time, for the privileged moments when you don't have anything else to do than stay on the couch, watching the sea, the pelicans and the manowars, sipping your "lime and bitter rum".

  • We had an amazing time in Parlatuvier!! We were the only tourists for miles in any direction. By the end of the week we really felt like we were part of the community. Sonny (the grounds keeper) joined us for dinner one evening. Dougla (the security guard at the elementary school) became our friend, took us fishing, and hung out with us at night. And Marlene (the owner of the quick-shop) was so incredibly kind. If you're looking for a quiet, authentic, place to relax - Parlatuvier is for you!

  • Four of us spent five very short days at Villa Di Sorrisi and it was nothing short of paradise. Seriously, the photos and descriptions don't do it justice. There is plenty to do if you're looking for adventure (hiking, rainforest and waterfall tours, swimming, snorkeling, cooking up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen) and ample space to wonderfully do absolutely nothing. The porch was perfect for lounging with some local rum and enjoying a grilled mahi mahi purchased off the pier that day. The locals were friendly and the manager Carolyn and her daughter Jade made sure we wanted for nothing. They made sure we were comfortable and were quick to offer advice whenever we asked. I'd absolutely recommend taking Sarah up on the rental car, as being able to scoot around the island at will was very convenient. Dinner and a sunset in Castara or snorkeling at Englishman's Bay are a couple great examples. We traveled to Port of Spain for a few days of a wedding celebration after and we missed the splendor and pace of life at Villa Di Sorrisi the entire time. We can't wait to return.

  • Fantastic stay at this villa, which combines a beach front experience with a lovely deck shaded by a mango tree. We had everything we needed for a relaxing trip. Thanks very much to Sarah for her thoughtful hosting.

  • Second time at the Villa Di Sorrisi and it did not disappoint. We love just sitting and relaxing on the deck and jetting the world pass us by. We loved the company of the two dogs (mother and daughter) who have adopted the villa and were good self-appointed guard dogs. It meant we didn't miss our own dog do much.

  • This was the best place we have stayed in Tobago (8th visit) We loved the breezy deck, the peace and quiet and the lazy pace of life.

Tamarind House Apartment is situated on the leeward coast of Tobago in the beautiful fishing village of Parlatuvier. It is suitable for couples, small families and lone travellers who enjoy a relaxed lifestyle away from commercial tourist areas. The villa overlooks the bay on one side and pristine tropical rainforest on the other. Guests will have sole occupancy of the house, pool and gardens.
  • Lesley helped us with our experience in Tobago and the Tamarind House is located in a beautiful part of Tobago. The property itself is maintained extremely well and has many amenities to have a vacation spot where you cook and take care of yourself after a long day of exploration, or a day of relaxing! All the neighbors are very friendly, including a host of animals and amazing wildlife! This was a really great place and Lesley's advice for transportation was much appreciated.

  • The house and view is so beautiful that it couldnt be better. I wish to have such a veranda and the pool at home. All was organized and worked perfectly for me. I got all information I needed, Lesley and Sharon were extremely nice and helpful and I had extraordinary amazing vacation I wished for. Location is very quiet, but there is everything you need; beach, bar, restaurant, shops, tour operators, fresh fish, taxis, .... Thanks!

  • Lesley's place was absolute perfection and it exceeded our expectations. Check in and out was easy and Lesley worked with our late check in - she is lovely! Sharon the housekeeper was a total rockstar - such a sweetheart. Don't miss out on her delicious cooking. The hummingbirds gave us a show every morning, the views were breathtaking, exactly what one wishes for in a tropical setting. The place was secluded and incredibly romantic. I will definitely be back again.
