Annexe sleeps 2-3, Family Room up to 4, or Both Rooms 7, in 3 listings. THIS IS FOR ANNEXE. Our place is close to seaside, golf, country parks, and many attractions in Dundee, and now the V&A. Day trips to St Andrews, Fife, Glens of Prosen, Clova, Lyon or Esk; Arbroath Abbey, harbour, coastal walks and boat trips. Our home is cosy and welcoming, for business travellers, holiday singles, couples and families. Annexe and garden room for anyone with mild mobility restriction, wheelchair friendly.
Our family home is bright, spacious and peaceful. No live television (you are hopefully on holiday!), but plenty of books and DVDs to borrow, UK and foreign. (We have wifi, so you can use your own laptop/tablet/iphone if you have a current TV licence at home.) Plenty of toys and board games. Table tennis. Lots of bird life to see, and open views to arable countryside, wooded hills, wedge of sea. Several local walks (maps available). Plenty of off road parking space. Secure sunny garden and patio, tree swing, boules, badminton.
Locally, there are a variety of good restaurants with different cuisines, and cafes, to recommend. The two local Country Parks are exceptionally good, wheelchair and pram friendly, offering watersports, fishing and bird watching, as are the coastal promenades and beaches. I have plenty of brochures and what's on guides available. There are many attractions and cultural events in Dundee, and local live music in Broughty Ferry. We are wildlife friendly, with pipistrelle bats and a wide variety of birds, some nesting in or on the house. Fields surrounding crop wheat, barley, oil seed rape, potatoes, beans, an ever changing patchwork. Fresh, clean air and lots of it! Local fruit and produce farm shops and Town Gala weeks in summer. Several landscaped play areas and a bookable, high ropes adventure course (excellent for teenagers) a mile away. There is a picturesque, lively marina and fishing harbour at Arbroath, offering fishing boat trips; the famous Bell Rock lighthouse visible. There's an impressive clifftop walk, delicious local smoked fish (Smokies and Trout, etc) on sale. There are several pleasant country and coastal walks, on accessible paths, and local OS map enlarged printouts to take with you. Two prehistoric settlement sites are within walking distance, plus woodlands, rights of way, and local bicycle routes.
  • Our family of 6 had a lovely stay at Rosie's place. Lovely and quiet area, the house was charming and the rooms were large and comfortable. Our hostess Rosie was very friendly, we enjoyed her company very much. She also provided a breakfast fitting for a king! The traditional eggy toast was delicious! Additional bonus was the toys that kept my boys happy!

  • I can only echo all the fine words of the other reviews - Rosie is an outstanding hostess and the accommodation she has set up is extremely well organised and comfortable with fabulous breakfast included – you won’t go wrong. Further, for wheelchair users, she has arranged excellent private, ramped access to the main bedroom, which was large enough to manoeuvre the chair. Equally useful is the low level access shower with a free standing seat. The breakfast room overlooking the garden is a haven of peace and also has easy level access  Thanks Rosie for your warm welcome and gently attentive service – loved it! Robbie, Anne & Ruby.

  • Rosie's home is modern, clean, and was comfortably spacious for our party of six. We particularly enjoyed our lively, interesting conversations with her.

    James2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • My family of 3, myself and two young children stayed at Rosie's for two nights as we explored the area. Rosie's home and the room in which we sated was very comfortable, and thoughtfully presented. Rosie is a kind and engaging host, and really quite wonderful with children. We very much enjoyed our stay, and wish her the best best on her Airbnb adventure!

  • Wow, you can’t go wrong with Rosie. Such a warm and inviting place. Rosie becomes your friend within 5 minutes of meeting you. Breakfast was unbelievable! Wish I could have stayed longer.

  • Rosie is a great host, very attentive and ready to help in any way. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The house is not far from Carnoustie, where we had spent the day, and St. Andrew’s (where we were heading next) is not too far away. The breakfast was very nice and we were on our way.

    James2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay with Rosie! Could not ask for more from a host, very thoughtful and even gave us a lift to the golf course! Would recommend!

Sehr weiterzuempfehlen!

The evenings then can be spent watching one of the stunning sunsets on the River Tay in a luxurious and quiet haven to enjoy a glass of wine while watching a movie or just relax contemplating the next day’s adventure.
  • Jacqueline welcomed us to her beautiful home ~ the pictures online were accurate, and the view out of our window was breathtaking! We loved the bedroom and felt very comfortable there. Jacqueline gave us information on golf courses before we arrived and told us about restaurants and castles to tour when we got there. She even gave us "rain gear" in case we needed it on our touring day. She provided transportation to St. Andrews when two of us left early for golf. Jacqueline is a perfect hostess, and her home is wonderful!

    Douglas2015-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Jacqueline was definitely the highlight of my trip to Scotland. I found the room to be absolutely perfect and my friend and I spent a lot of time talking to Jacqueline about options for our trip and she even gave us a ride to the Tentsmuir Forest where we had an amazing walk back into Newport-on-Tay. The town and people were so nice and we felt right at home. I would definitely come back and stay here again.

  • Jacqueline was a fantastic host and a great person! As soon as we arrived, we were being truly spoiled! Tea, shortbread, snacks, we were offered a ride into the next town over so we could enjoy a nice dinner without worrying about drinking and driving. She had great recommendations for dinner and other touring ideas to add to our itinerary (ps we walked through the 18th fairway of St Andrews golf course Jacqueline!). The breakfast was amazing in the morning. Her house is spectacular! Everything is nicely renovated, clean, with great views of the water. This was our favourite BnB of our UK trip. Highly recommended!

  • We were at the end of a month of touring Scotland and a wee bit travel weary when our 'exceeded expectations' stay with Jacqueline began when she offered to pick us up at the train station!! What we did not know was that this was just the beginning of our delight in staying with Jackie, who turned out to be like a neat drop of strawberry blond Drambuie in a finely cut crystal glass. She zipped us over the bridge to her lovely hillside Victorian home. Our room was even better than it looked in the photos, very spacious with 16 foot ceilings, all very tastefully decorated, complete with fresh flowers in our room, and a table full of goodies for our convenience. Jackie very genuinely offered to give us a tour of the near by town of St. Andrews. We told her what we were interested in and she took it from there. I will not go in to all of the details but I can only tell you that when she said "Not too many people know about this wee roa (Website hidden by Airbnb) and the next thing I know we are driving across the middle of the 18th fairway on the Old Course at St. Andrews on our way to see the beautiful beach that was used in the movie "Chariot's of Fire"!! The golfers walking up to their fairway shots looked as surprised as I was at that moment. Jackie is a member and a keen golfer. We saw the town as well, then had dinner in a comfy pub in one of the smaller villages down the coast. She had us home and in bed at a reasonable time and the quiet neighborhood gave us both a super night's sleep. An easy morning start after a tasty AND healthy breakfast of scrabbled eggs and kippers, we continued our tour. We were so happy to have someone with ALL THAT LOCAL KNOWLEDGE take care of the tour: castles, gardens, mountains and the greenest glens. We simply sat back and enjoyed the day with another dinner in a character pub and a glass of wine back in our beautiful room over looking the summer sunset on the River Tay. Jackie has big plans to start offering golf packages and we can highly recommend anyone taking her up in that game!! Best of LUCK and thank you for such an enjoyable, and most memorable stay in Newport-on-Tay!

    Selina2014-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline was a wonderful host during our stay in Newport. From the kind offer to pick us up from the train station, to the lovely room with a beautiful view, all topped off with a tasty breakfast. I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for somewhere in the area.

    Andrew2014-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • I've been at Jacqueline's place with my father and we both enjoyed our experience. The room is amazing with a wonderful view of the sea and everything is confortable. The private bathroom is also very clean and tidy both with the shower and the tube. Jacqueline is a lovely and careful host and her breakfasts were delicious. I would definitively reccomend this place to everyone.

    Roberto2015-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline is a very friendly, enthusiastic host with a very well-equipped accommodation. She provided many nice details including snacks, plush bathrobes, offers for rides to restaurants and St. Andrews, etc. and her breakfast was amazing! The house and view from the room are lovely.

    Nancy2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were pleased to be Jacqueline's first AirBnB guests! She is a keen and gracious host who added many thoughtful touches to the room. As one can see from her comprehensive description of her home and its location, she has put a great deal of consideration into this venture. One thing that we especially loved was the pair of comfortable chairs facing the window and the view beyond, complete with a print out describing the history of the bridge we were looking at! We spent several hours on those seats and would be happy to spend many more! The room is very large with plenty of room for the full size table that was set with dishes for our breakfast and a basket of items to choose from for breakfast and snacks. There was also a fruit bowl and fresh flowers in the room. The bathroom is large, clean and well equipped. The location is very handy to the main road but still in a quiet street. We walked to a local shop and a nearby fish and chip shop for items for dinner and Jacqueline provided dinner plates and wine glasses. Highly recommended!

  • Rosie’s home is fantastic. She is the perfect host, very kind generous and very polite and helpful.

  • Rosie was very welcoming and opened her home up to 6 of us. We drove up from London, on arrival Rosie offered us refreshments which was very gratefully received. We spent the evening chatting, drinking and enjoying Rosie's company. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and we all had our own bathrooms with shower. Also each room had tea and coffee making facilities. We were heading into Dundee for a family wedding. Rosie laid out a lovely breakfast banquet and also offered hot food with freshly laid eggs from her neighbours chickens. Thank you Rosie we all enjoyed our stay with you. Thank you, Karen, Tuesday, Dan, Amanda, Bridget & Betty

  • I highly recommend! We stayed one night and loved it. Rosie is a great host, she's a charming person that takes cares for her guests masterfully. This was a textbook example of what AirBnB should be about. Everything was clean, the beds were super comfy, we had a wonderful breakfast together and overall really enjoyed our stay. 10/10 without a doubt

  • Rosie is a perfect host someone would want to meet on their travel journey . Her house is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. She personally takes care of each and everything which should be provided to the guest . I would definitely recommend her house for staying in Dundee.

2 guest rooms (sep listings) for 4+3, approx £70 for couple, extra adults £20. Comfortable seating areas, private ensuite bathrooms/shower rooms. The ground floor annexe for 3, has ramped private entrance, suitable for mobility issues. (wheelchair and shower seats available.) The UPSTAIRS room, has curtained twin alcove. Safe windows, nice view, DVDs with player, exercise equipment. 4th folding bed for mixed group, or single duvets on double bed; five possible. Child's floor mattress.
Our family home is bright, spacious and peaceful. No live television (you are hopefully on holiday!) but plenty of books and DVDs to borrow, UK and foreign. (We have wi-fi, so you can use your own laptop/tablet/i-phone etc, if you have a current TV licence at home.) Plenty of toys and board games. Table tennis. Lots of bird life to see, and open views to arable countryside, wooded hills, wedge of sea. Several local walks (maps available). Plenty of off road parking space. For improving fitness, adults only, there is a cross-trainer and core muscle exercisers, available at users' discretion.
Locally, there is a variety of good restaurants with different cuisines, and cafes, to recommend. The two local Country Parks are exceptionally good, offering watersports, fishing and bird watching, as are the coastal promenades and beaches, all with level access. I have plenty of brochures and What's On guides available. There are many and increasing attractions and cultural events in Dundee, and local live music in Broughty Ferry. We are wildlife friendly, with pipistrelle bats and a wide variety of birds, some nesting in or on the house. Fields surrounding crop wheat, barley, oil seed rape, potatoes, beans, an ever changing patchwork. Fresh, clean air and lots of it! Local fruit and produce farmshops and Town Gala weeks in the summer. Several landscaped play areas and an adventure high ropes course (excellent for teenagers) a mile away. (Best booked in advance.) There is a picturesque, lively marina and fishing harbour at Arbroath, offering fishing boat trips; the famous Bell Rock Lighthouse is visible and there is an explanatory Signal Tower Museum onshore. There's an impressive cliff top walk, but supervise children and impetuous adults! There's delicious local smoked fish - Arbroath Smokies, trout, etc, for sale and good fish and chips, also in Monifieth, where there is a super golf course, less pricey than Carnoustie, or St Andrews. Lunan Bay is a big beautiful beach, as is Tentsmuir Forest beach at Kinshaldy. There are many ancient archaeological sites nearby, Pictish, Celtic and Viking history. In two years' time there will be a remarkable satellite Museum of the V&A in Dundee, construction well on the way, focussing on Technology and Design - linked with the prestigious Duncan of Jordanstone Art College, Dundee. The remodelled city centre around the Caird Concert Hall is already looking excellent. The McManus is a jewel of a Museum. There are several Theatres, and 2 mainstream and one Art film Cinema. There are two sailing ships, The Discovery and The Unicorn, both well worth visiting. Allow at least a half day for the former.
  • Rosie's place is excellent in terms of child friendliness (the best we have ever experienced) and her own kindness, mildness and hospitality. She gave children several toys to play and prepared special Scottish porridge for breakfast, and was helping in all other respects. We had a spacious private bedroom with our own bathroom. Her house is very clean, well located in a quiet village close to Dundee. Our family would definitely recommend!

    Mari-Liis2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rosie is a fantastic host. She is very attentive and helpful. The house is in a small village in the beautiful Scottish countryside. Very quiet and scenic. The room was very well equipped, with good beds, toilet+bathroom, more than enough for 3 people. The breakfast was also super complete, with all kind of delicious options. Our stay here was better than expected.

    Andrés2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Rosie is a fantastic host who makes you feel welcome. Her place is exactly what is described and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks again Rosie

    Gordon2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is located in a chilled area in Dundee's countryside, really nice views. It is a big house with two big rooms with en-suite bathrooms for the guests to stay. Clean, illuminated and with all kind of courtesies. Breakfast at that glaze dining room in the garden was superb, as it was Rosie's treatment, always helpful and kind. I recommend it for people looking for a relaxing stay.

  • We had a great stay at Rosie's home. The two rooms were great for our family of six. My bed was very comfortable and Rosie is an excellent host who thought of many details to make our stay more comfortable. The breakfast Rosie served us was great and she made us lovely scrambled eggs. The place is in the quiet countryside and be sure to follow the directions that are given by using the website's link and do not directly place it in your GPS, as there are two villages of Newbigging(!).

  • Stuart was an lovely host. Really friendly and helpful. We loved our stay in his home which was in a really peaceful and quiet location, only a short drive to a pub restaurant. The house was very comfortable, it felt like a real home from home with an excellent cooked breakfast. We would definitely recommend Stuart as a host and would love to stay with him if we are in Scotland again.
