  • Great value, I believe we paid $19.USD. Home is very clean, bedding was exceptionally clean, and we were provided plenty of towels and extra blankets. 20 minutes from Vincente Guerrero. Great location if you have business in one of the local small towns.

  • This home was comfortable, clean, and very close to the beach -- exactly what we were hoping for. Jessica was fast to respond and very hospitable. We would absolutely recommend if you are staying in the area. Be sure to check out taqueria el perico in the area for dinner!

  • It is a very nice and comfortable place, but for me the main thing was excellent in a matter of clean spaces. It is very close to the beach where you can go for a walk ... the hospitality and communication of the hostess was the best. We will definitely be back!

  • Everything was amazing. In such a cute little Ejido. A very secure place to stay. The house was so cute. Basic amenities, you didn’t need anything else. We weren’t sure for the price how it was gonna be but we will DEFINITELY stay there again. Highly recommended. The dog (air bud, looks like the dog from the movie) was my favorite part, and the kitties were a plus. Great stay, thanks again

  • The most amazing and relaxing farm-ranch experience ever! Thank you Fillipie and Nellie for being such amazing and lovely hosts, bringing me clamming, driving me around town, and showing such hospitality! I especially loved the food and cooking. The bus is even cuter and roomier than I imagined. The animals are friendly, the environment is serene; it’s the perfect place to watch the sunset, eat strawberries and seafood, and forget about school/work/stress. I defiantly will recommend to everyone asking me about my spring break!

  • The best off the beaten path spot. Felipe is one cool dude, on that chill mode and makes some good tortillas. We spent two days here, avoiding the noise from the busy towns. If you’re trying to get away and avoid the “condo” life, this is it.

  • Felipe was such a great host; how an Airbnb host must be! He was extremely helpful and hospitable. His must visit his ranch when in San Quintin. I loved the little bus. I will certainly be back!

    Emiliano Zapata, Baja California, Mexico

Instagram @oceanhousebaja Our Tulum inspired beach house at “Shipwrecks” surf spot & Baja 500 route. Have a chill surf vacation on your own point-break or go off-roading up the coast. Try the world-class sea fishing out of San Quinten or prepare fresh fish caught by the locals in the kitchen. Relax in hammocks or read in the mid-century style living room. Enjoy sunset margaritas on the balcony watching ocean waves. Gated 24/7 security, 4br, wifi, hot shower, full kitchen, fridge.
We have created a really fun getaway right on the ocean and far enough south that you are free to do anything you like. The house has everything needed to make everyone in your group happy. Surf or go on adventures all day, knowing the rest of your friends and family will be enjoying the wonderful surroundings, decor, and amenities of the house. Wear the kids out on the 15ft trampoline and keep other family members happy with beautifully laundered sheets, soft towels, and tasteful design. Decor: The house has some great mid-century modern furniture pieces preserved down here in Baja since arriving from the USA in the ’60s. We have also incorporated some fun ideas picked up from holidays in beautiful Tulum in the Yucatán. Like swings in the kitchen instead of bar stools. Hammocks and swings around the fire pit. The floors are sealed concrete so you don’t have to be precious and the beds, shelving units and smaller tables around the house are all individually designed and hand built.
Overview: This quiet stretch of ocean front has so much to offer. From the famous “Shipwrecks” surf spot with it’s super long rights, to the rocks, tide pools and the huge, decaying ship that lays in the bay. The immediate surroundings are really safe for kids with cars rarly moving around inside the gates. The locals are really friendly and the neighborhood relaxed. Beyond the gates there’s open land which gives you a tremendous feeling of freedom. Just over the hills to the south is the local town Camalu with supermarkets, restaurants and anything else you might need. (12 miles). The Baja 500 coastal route runs outside the gates so you can watch off-road enthusiasts having the time of their lives bombing up and down the coast. The house is located about 15 minutes from the start of the national park where Mexico’s national observatory is located. Great for a day trip, you can see both oceans on either side of Baja from up there. The house is 40 minutes north of San Quietin’s ancient volcanos and Oyster bay. Fishing boats from San Quietin will take you a few miles out to Isla San Martin where the fishing is world class. The local fisherman that take boats out right in front of the house and have amazing quality fish, lobster and prices. The house is located five miles from the 1 freeway which is a straight shot down from the US border. There’s a popular Oaxacan market on Fridays about 25 minutes south. More details: Location: Ocean House Baja is a two hour drive south of Ensenada, just north of the town Camalu. It’s down a 5 miles road towards the ocean from the 1 freeway, a straight shot down from the San Diego US border. The town of Camalu has a few super markets with everything you might need and some of the best tacos you will ever taste (Wednesday - Sunday) end of town on the right. Surf: The house is located on the surf break “Shipwrecks” which boasts super long right peeling waves. With a longboard you can usually surf, its best when the tide is coming in. It can be windy but your good before 10am and after 6pm. The surf break gets its name from the huge ship / freighter that ran aground in 1982. The ship has been slowly reclaimed by the ocean but has carved out the bay over the years helping to create those long rides. On the right swell you can ride from in front of the house all the way around the bay. 3/4 mile, I’ve personally yet to get or even see a ride like that but every local surfer has their stories of when they did it and how far they got. Fishing: The local fishermen launch their boats in front of the ship every morning before sunrise and come back in around 10am. You can buy what they have caught if you have some cash or beers and the prices and quality are amazing. We really enjoy the commotion of the locals helping to guide the boats in past the waves and dragging them out the water and up the beach. Once the boats are out the water is when we usually ask what they have caught etc. 4x4: The coastal route for the Baja 500 and 1000 runs a long the rear fence of the community so you can watch 4x4s, bikes and other vehicles testing their nerves on the track. Watch the pros do it if you’re staying the specific times of year the races are on. Beach: The community of about 42 houses is gates and has 24/7 security. The houses and camping spots are built along the ocean front with a road / path in front of them. You can stroll along looking at the ocean with a Margareta and say Hi. Everyone is super friendly and extremely happy to be by the ocean. Stars: At night you can see all the campfires around the bay. The moon reflecting off the waves and the bay is stunning and because of the clean dry air, lack of streetlights and massive ocean the stars and milky way are as bright as you’ll ever see them. Mexico’s national observatory is a local day trip destination up in the mountains that become snow covered in winter and named as the 4th best place on the planet to study the sky. From up there you have views over both oceans, the Pacific and Sea of Cortez, where the blue whales calve their young in the summer.
  • Overall, we had a fantastic, if not ambitious, trip with our 4 month old son. (It was his first surf trip to Mexico, and first time out of the country.) The location is perfect for a surf vacation - Shipwrecks is right out front and it was working on the NW swell when we were there; Robert's Left was only about 10 minutes north down a dirt road (4 wheel drive recommended); and 4 Casas was only about 20 minutes north down the same dirt road. (4 Casas apparently only works on a South swell so we'll have to return for that.) You also can find waves (good or bad) along that whole stretch - some are an optical illusion but my husband braved them. The house itself was creatively remodeled and would be a perfect spring, summer, or fall retreat. The beds were comfortable, and you have a beautiful view of the sunrise, sunset and stars through the windows in the ocean-facing bedrooms at night. There's a cool bonfire area outside for star gazing at night. The hosts are excellent communicators - they provided a number of tips and answered dozens of questions that we had about the area (particularly as we were traveling with an infant). They love Baja and it shows. The manager, Julio, also is super helpful and friendly, as was his daughter who babysat our son while we surfed. The area felt very safe, which was important for us with our son. Our frustrations mostly came from expectations. If you go into it with the expectation of glamping, and pack accordingly, you'll have an amazing experience. If you expect more, you may have a learning curve (as we did). Despite our frustrations, which I'll outline below to help the next traveler, we overall had a great trip and would love to stay here again. These are just a few things to expect: - If you travel during the winter, expect to be cold and pack like you're camping outside in cold temps. We went in December during a time that (we were told) was unusually cold for the area. Make sure you have plenty of firewood - the owners did provide the firewood for us. - Somethings in the house are temperamental (which likely comes from it being an older, remodeled house in a very remote area). For instance, we were supposed to have hot water for showers and Internet, but we didn't have either. More accurately, we had 30 second hot showers and very limited Internet access. That wouldn't have been a big deal except that it was freezing at night and after surf; the house isn't heated so there was no other way to warm up except the fireplace; we wanted to check the surf report and couldn't without Internet access; and my husband was supposed to check into work while there and couldn't. (The owners did send us a surf report when we raised this with them, and they were always quick to try to resolve issues.) - Buy a MX Telcel chip before you arrive. We resolved the Internet issue by buying MX chips for our phones from Telcel about mid-way through the trip (and the hosts were helpful in locating a Telcel near us - there's one in Camalu), but the lack of an ability to communicate caused frustration at first. Next time, that will be one of the first things that we do. - Be careful when you light a fire in the fireplace, as there's no screen. The night after we arrived, a flaming log leaped out of the fireplace close to where our son had been seated, as there's no screen on the fireplace. We learned our lesson that night, but be careful. A screen would be helpful (along with more fire tools). - The front door has had some issues. When we were there, the night after we arrived, the front door came off the hinge letting in cold air. We wedged it shut to try to keep the cold air out, and the door was fixed the next morning. But that made for a tough night. We were told there's been some other issues with that door. Again, overall, we loved the place and stay, and if you go into it with the right expectations, you will too. :)

  • We had a great time staying at the Bus on Adele's Ranch and what great hosts! It was the perfect pitstop for our camping trip in Baja. The bus is clean and quite comfortable for 2 people and a dog. The property is picturesque, set in farm land along the coast. We took a beautiful walk down to the beach and ate great food while staying here. Highly recommend it!

  • We had such a pleasant time staying at the bus! We felt very comfortable right away when we met the host at the gas station because he was so friendly, which went a long way for driving down those dark dirt roads at night hehe. In the morning it was so nice to sit and have breakfast together and chat. Loved meeting all the animals, especially Pinto and the new little pup :) Really nice spot they have. You can see how much work has been put into making it welcoming and an enjoyable place to be! Muy gracias to our hospitable pals at Fenel’s place!!

  • You can expect to find hospitable hosts that are very knowledgeable about the local area. They made sure we had what we needed and even hung around to get to know us. The area offers peace and quite throughout the night with a beautiful view of the stars above. In the morning we went on a relaxing 5 minute walk to the beach. On the beach we found miles of coast line we barely anyone around. I would highly recommend this unique experience for anyone in the area.

Very spacious home with amazing views of the Pacific ocean. The sound of the waves is so relaxing you will sleep like a baby. Whether you like fishing, quadding, biking or just sitting back and reading a good book this is the place for you and did I mention fish tacos o yes you will find the best fresh fish tacos in town.
Very spacious home with high ceilings, lots of light and very open floorplan. It has beautiful ocean views and easy access to the beach within walking distance. 2300 sf

  • A lovely, comfortable home in a beautiful setting! wonderful view of the ocean...inspiring!

    Maria2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Casa Serena is probably the nicest place we ever stayed. All you hear is the sound of the waves and the stars are so bright you can see the Milky Way. Wonderful place. It's about 1/2 mile hike to the beach, somewhat tricky. Make sure to watch the tides. The beach is great at low tide. You'll have a few miles of dirt roads coming in so be sure your car is ready. Serena was a wonderful host and Gary was extremely helpful. Be sure to contact him in advance, Serena will give you the number. Be sure to arrive during daylight, it's hard to find at night. Town is only a few miles away. Stock up because you won't want to leave! The house is beautiful, the view is incredible, and the sound of the waves is so peaceful 24/7.

  • The truth is the accommodation is perfect for large groups and at a super price, it is 30 minutes from the entrance of the Sierra de San Pedro Martir and 20 km from San Quintin. Tani is an excellent hostess, she worries that you have everything you need and her recommendations of where to eat are excellent.

  • Comfortable and safe with thoughtful touches on the Baja road trip. Comfy bed, all the amenities of home, great communication by host who warmed up our room before our arrival and left the Christmas tree lit making us feel very much at home. Spent the whole morning working on the computer sipping coffee with WiFi at the lovely kitchen dining area. Quiet safe neighborhood farm area but close to many restaurants and groceries. Super friendly well behaved and sweet doggies on the property are also a plus. Definitely great spot if you’re on the trip through Baja! Thanks Tani.

4 1/2 hrs south of San Diego! Oceanside paradise! Unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean. Spectacular! Just 150 yards to the beach! Casa Costa del Sol, a beautiful 3-bdrm, 1800 sq ft home comfortably sleeps up to 7. It is in the quiet gated community of Costa Brava, near Vicente Guerrero in the San Quintin Valley. This adult-oriented beach house is fully furnished and equipped for your comfort and convenience. Just 10 minutes from town to restaurants, taco stands, gas stations and shopping.
Casa Costa del Sol is a hidden gem at the ocean, a few miles from the small town of Vicente Guerrero, northern Baja, San Quintin valley. This is a quiet rural area where you can have a more authentic Mexican experience than in a tourist resort. See the section “Other Things to Note” for more details. Casa Costa del Sol is significantly modern and updated for this area of Mexico. Everything you will need is here in this 1800 sq ft casa! The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size propane stove and oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, convection oven, griddle/grill, small appliances, utensils and dinnerware. A reasonable supply of purified water in 5-gallon jugs (from a local water company) is on hand for cooking, drinking and brushing teeth. These can be easily refilled at many locations around town for under a dollar. Fresh...airy... coastal! Besides having comfortable beds, each bedroom (King, queen and double) is complete with privacy blinds, large ceiling fan and good quality linens. If you need to be 'plugged in', bring your cell phone and laptop! There is WIFI and cell service! Should you have a Java craving, the Keurig coffee maker will have it ready for you in a minute. Bring your favorite k-cups with you or a pound of your best blend to French press! Walk uncrowded, beaches! Collect sea glass and shells. Grab the binoculars! Be entertained by dolphins, sea lions and sometimes whales! Enjoy the variety of bird species. Kick back on a deck lounger; Bask in the sun with your head in a good book; revel in the peace and quiet; breathe the fresh ocean air. Bring your quads or other beach 'toys'. You can drive 20 plus miles down the beach! If playing in the ocean is your thing, don a wetsuit and test the surf! Use the full size propane BBQ to grill your favorites out on the deck. Make sure to time your barbeque and happy hour to coincide with the most unforgettable, breath-taking sunsets! Life doesn't get much better! After dinner, sit around the large oval table laughing with friends over a game of cards or dominoes. When darkness falls, curl up in front of the wood fire for a romantic evening or choose one of your favorite DVD’s from our collection to watch on the TV. If you have movies saved on your laptop or want to watch a little Netflix, just connect your laptop to the bigger screen with the HDMI cable provided for you. If you’re here on a Tuesday, you’ll likely want to experience a local “globos” (outdoor market), where fresh produce is in abundance as well as all kinds of interesting finds. Globos offerings include Mexican style corn on the cob, grilled chicken, different kinds of tacos, just-made kettle chips, and mouth-watering sugared churros! On Friday, head to the town park to browse colorful authentic Mexican blankets and ponchos, hammocks and hand-crafted toys and jewelry. Whatever you do, do drive into town often for the best fish tacos in the world! Want a night off from cooking? Arrangements can be made to hire a cook for some of your meals (real deal Mexican food, of course!). As well, there are several great restaurants in the area. So if you want fresh seafood, enchiladas or burgers, it’s all waiting for you! Maybe you would like a more intimate experience? You can ask for a guided tour of some of the local attractions. Or perhaps you’ve always wanted to learn how to make tortillas, or tamales or some other yummy Mexican dish… why not request a cooking lesson? If you go clamming or playing in the sand dunes, you may need to do some laundry. A Casa Costa del Sol host can show you how to use our washer and dryer. Wondering about parking? No problema! The large stone-paved driveway has room for several cars, or your RV, boat/trailer. Our entrances and driveway have external electronic security cameras, recording who approaches and leaves our property. Rest assured, absolute privacy with no cameras inside the house! The town of Vicente Guerrero has several new stores. If you need something, chances are, you will find it just 10 minutes away, in town. Host/homeowner or an appointed person will be on call to assist you. IMPORTANT! This home is not suitable for children under 12. The deck railings are low, thus there is a safety concern for small children, we are not prepared to risk. Guests are not permitted to bring pets to Casa Costa del Sol....Sorry!
Vicente Guerrero is in the San Quintin Valley. Just 4 1/2 hours south of San Diego, CA or Just 2 1/2 hours south of Port of Ensenada, Mex.. This is a unique area of rugged and breath-taking oceanside grandeur! It is peaceful! Truly an unexpected oasis in the desert! The residents of this community are friendly, interesting and look out for each other.
  • Great house... amazing view

  • A portion of my team used this spot for the Baja 1000. This spot is probably better suited for a smaller group vacationing in the area. Very nice home with great views and close to the beach. Secure gated community a couple of miles off the hwy...a nice neighborhood watch in effect. Host is close by to help with any issues. A great place to get away and experience some of what Baja has to offer!!!

  • Ann and Lorne were incredible hosts who went out of their way to ensure we were well prepared for the trip and had all the support we needed throughout the stay. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by a family member who showed us around the property. Ann and Lorne had arranged for a lovely gift basket to be left for us and had also coordinated a delivery of fire wood in case we wanted to use the wood stove. The location of this house is incredible - the photos do not do the beach justice. This house is located down a dusty farm road in a tiny private area right on the beach. For the majority of the trip, we were the only folks on the beautiful beach for as far as the eye could see. We explored the tide pools, saw dolphins, and really enjoyed checking out the sand dunes. The house does not supply beach chairs or toys so it may be worthwhile to bring your own. The home itself is exactly as advertised. They made sure the restrooms and kitchens were stocked with paper products, soaps, and linens. The kitchen had absolutely everything you could want for cooking - we're talking ceramic knifes, baking equipment, multiple types of graters, spices, etc. This was by far the most well-stocked AirBNB kitchen I've ever used which was important since we did a lot of cooking. The home also has a gas grill that came in handy. The local town has a Calimax grocery store with the basics. If you want more broad choices for food/alcohol, I would suggest stocking up in one of the larger cities on the way down. The grocery store did have a couple of really good Ensenada wines but there wasn't a lot of variety. We enjoyed eating at a couple of local taco stands - Tacos Varios and Tacos Puebla (this one is right next to the HSBC bank and was recommended to us by Ann and Lorne's daughter). There is also a really nice coffee and creperie that we enjoyed. Our family drove down from California and the trip was very easy. Ann and Lorne instructed us on best practices for car rental (rent in US and get Mexican insurance) and how to navigate the border crossing. The drive down was easy and picturesque. The return trip was about the same except the border crossing was really long - we waited 4 hrs. If you are doing the crossing, be prepared to have $ for food vendors, Podcasts, and lots of patience :) We can't wait to return! Thank you to Ann and Lorne for being excellent hosts!

  • Staying at this Air Bnb Was up there with the best in my Air BnB career so far. Charmy, the daughter of Anne and the local hose was extremely thoughtful and at times inspiring. It was my birthday so I was welcomed with some very nice touches and was also given the opportunity to get involved with some of the amazing local causes the family is supporting. Communication was also great. On top of this having breakfasts on the terrace looking at the beautiful pacific ocean in a three bedroom villa is really quite the dream. The house is suitable for between two and six people because of it's affordability but also size. If you are looking to get a little3 deeper into Baja, get a flavor for local life and also stay in luxury with beautiful views book yourself in!

    Rick2018-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The house was just as pictured! We saw dolphins and relaxed on the porch overlooking the view every night. It was very relaxing. We came down to fish in San Quintin, which was about a 45 minute drive south. Charmy was incredibly responsive and helpful, met us at the Globos which was a very cool authentic Mexican market. The dirt roads around the area aren't always for the feint hearted, so bring a truck if you have the option, although we had a small car and did just fine. There were tons of extra blankets, towels, fresh food, spices to cook with, and again, a view of a lifetime! I took a long nap on the porch, falling asleep to the ocean waves, best nap of my life :)

    Nikki2018-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Ann’s place in Costa Brava was amazing! We were welcomed from the host in Mexico and shown everything about the house. The views, accommodations and community of people inside the community were great! We will definitely be back again (didn’t really want to leave)

Casa Alta Mira is an expansive 3700sf 3 bedroom home with private pool & incredible ocean views from every window and terrace. Set up on a hill overlooking the north bay, you can lounge by the pool, whale watch from the rooftop, or enjoy the palapa covered back patio. The property is completely enclosed & has a beautiful desert garden surrounding the pool and patio areas. A short ten minute walk to the beach below . Perfect for families or couples wanting their own space and privacy.
Casa Alta Vista is located on the hillside of Los Barriles Norte, overlooking the the Bay of Los Barriles all the way to white beaches of Spa Buena Vista. The Casa is comfortably furnished, very spacious and you can enjoy the views from nearly every room. Big windows and terrace doors allow the cool breeze into the house on those hot Baja nights. All bedrooms have A/C units. Large open floor plan with a large and fully equipped kitchen, containing a refrigerator/freezer, 6 burner stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker and teakettle. The upper part of the house with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, living and dining room can be rented separately from the lower part - the casita with a small kitchen/living room and 1 bedroom and bathroom can be rented along with the main house or alone for a reduced price (2 people) In the winter, when the strong winds blowing, a little terrace behind the house provides a nice protected area so you can enjoy your dinner outside in any season. The roof terrace invites to whale watch in the winter and in the summer a dip in the pool is a welcome refreshment.
We love the north side of Los Barriles for it's incredible ocean and mountain views, friendly neighbors, and quiet, serene beauty. There are many access points to the beach for whatever activity you like - You can kayak, paddle board, or snorkel or kite board if its the windy season. The sunrise is FANTASTIC and when there is a full moon, the moon rise is incredible!!! Originally founded as a typical Baja fishing village, Los Barriles has since grown into a nice town that welcomes tourists who are looking for a quiet, romantic place, enjoy nature, sports and the outdoors. On the main road of Los Barriles you will find several nice little restaurants and bars, a couple of small hotels, various souvenir shops, a smoke house (where you can smoke the fish you catch to bring it home), ATV rentals, and of course quite a few Real Estate office...in case you decide you want a piece of Baja... The most famous beach in Los Barriles is Playa Norte...here is where kite surfers and wind surfers from all around the globe get together every winter to take advantage of the great winds that we have here from December to March. Fishing season starts right after the surfers leave and old Baja fishermen flock into Los Barriles from every corner of the United states...they know why, the wildlife and game fishing here along the East Cape are just incredible.

  • Extremely awesome place! Great host in an unbeatable location if you’re seeking to enjoy some of the best Baja has to offer. The place is really tastefully decorated and provides a truly pleasureful experience. Would recommend to anyone! Can’t wait to go back, Richards has a great place and is an unbeatable host.

  • This is an amazing, breathtaking spot. It is hidden, but Richard gives great directions to the spot so we did not get lost. 10/10 would recommend.

  • Definitely off of the beat & path, but well worth it. I had a group of 15 that ended up staying at cuatro casas for an off road race and we could not have been happier. The location is outside of town with breath taking views. You can hear the ocean waves in your sleep. Having meals be an added on "amenity" for my group made my life feeding them so much easier, so I am so grateful for that! Pre planning stages: Richard answered all of my questions and messages very quickly and answered right away when I had to call him a few times, very happy about that! Gave me all the info regarding the different room styles, community kitchen and so on. Richard is onsite during your stay so he is pretty available at all times.

    Melissa2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had an awesome stay with Richard at Cuatro Casas. Place is easy to find - we went in the dark and had no problems at all, drove straight there, where Richard was waiting to show us the room. Spent a day at San Pedro Martir, but honestly the next time we will probably just stay right at the hostel on the beach, as there is so much to do right there. Rooms were clean, water hot, and view of the ocean unsurpassed. Richard doesn't advertise it, but he is an incredible cook (chef?) made Sushi one night, which rivaled anything I have eaten north of the border. He is also a wealth of information about the area, he has lots of suggestions about things to do and places to go - that you won't find in any guidebook.
