Vacation Rentals in Calaveras County

Just booked in Calaveras County

La Chambre Bleue is one of 5 great rooms with views on top floor which has 2 baths. Please note that it is not just one room. The top floor (see photos) has 3 private bedrooms each with a CA king size bed, a Home Theater room that sleeps 4, and a more secluded 4th bedroom. Great amenities on main floor, views, music, and wine/dine pairing provide a true French Chateau experience. Come experience what a $2 Million Chateau is like and living your dream away from the hustle of the cities.
Chateau St George is a custom designed French Style Chateau with a vineyard and amazing views. Chateau St. George will prove to be a destination on its own. The main Guest Room is 'La Chambre Bleue', a Top Floor Suite, with a balcony with stunning views. The en Suite bathroom is right next to it and will be used only by the guests. The red room 'La Chambre Rouge' is the second room close to Chambre Bleue; The third room is the tower suite with its own bathroom. It is decorated with black and white French art. The top floor accommodates parties of 6 in those three different rooms each with a California King Size bed. 4 additional people beyond the 6 can be accommodated in the 4th room which is the home theater room on a large L shaped couch, a rollout bed pad, and a recently added double bed. All the above rooms have great views to the surrounding hills. The 5th room with a queen size bed is a more secluded room behind the home theatre room, that can be used if needed for an additional 2 people. Chateau St George is located in the heart of California. It provides easy access to the Sierra Foothills & Gold Country for wine tasting, and to Yosemite National Park, and to Dodge Ridge Ski resort. Many golf courses are within half an hour that include: Mountain Spring Gold Course, Phoenix Lake Golf Course, Greenhorn Creek Golf Course in Angels Camp, and best of all the NCGA course Saddle Creek in Copperopolis. Many guests upon seeing the views of the Sonora basin, with rolling hills, vineyards, golf course, immediately compare it to Tuscany. Music is available throughout the house for a true enjoyable experience for all the senses, inside and outside. The host will play the guests favorite music if requested to compliment the feast for the eyes of the amazing views from the property. I will only host one airbnb guest group at a time, even though there are multiple rooms. The rare exception is if I am hosting also some of my own friends.
The neighborhood is all custom homes on 4-7 acre parcels; it is in the country side, but is only 2 miles from hwy 108 with easy access to shopping and touring. Check this out: (website hidden)
  • Chateau St. George is stunning. The house is beautiful throughout and our room was perfect, with a huge bed and a balcony. There are incredible views as far as the eye can see. George is a natural at hosting guests. He makes you feel at ease in his home and is very generous with his food and incredible selection of wine, including his own Petite Syrah which was phenomenal. We had a lot of fun with George and his friends, ate dinner with them and drank in his wine cellar but we also had our own space. Chateau St. George is French inspired on the inside and out even down to the soaps in the bathroom. We will definitely be staying here again when we are in the area.

  • Our time at Chateau St. George - and with George, himself - was memorable. George's home is interesting, comfortable, beautifully appointed, and fun. It is in a spectacular location. We felt like we were in Tuscany or Provence. George is one of the most hospitable, gracious, and kind people we have ever met. He and his friends prepared a delicious meal for us and we enjoyed the Chateau St. George wine, dining al fresco as the sun set behind the rolling hills of Sonora. We hated to leave and will be back! Merci George!

  • Tip top. Magnifique! Fantastic! Mysigt! We had a great time. George was a wonderful host in his well appointed home. From wine tasting in the cellar to playing pool to dinner on the terrace to fantastic views reminiscent of Provence and Tuscany, you will be lucky indeed if you find yourself here! Enjoy!!

  • Our stay at Chateau St. George was a unique experience! We were welcomed and shown around this magnificent home and enjoyed the sunset on the patio with a fabulous view of the valley. We wished that George could have been there, but Stephanie made us feel more than welcomed. The upstairs accommodations were comfortable and spacious. Sally, the cat, was super friendly and fun. We highly recommend a stay here.

  • George is wonderful and his place is amazing! It is a beautiful home, my friends and I came for a 30th birthday party. We stayed upstairs and had the home theatre room to ourselves as well. George is an AMAZING chef so if you have a chance and he is willing to make you dinner- he's amazing. We had a lot of fun and George is very hospitable! Highly recommend :)

  • We had a great time at George's chateau. The place is huge with excellent views of the hills and a lot of outdoor area to chill with a glass of wine. Highly recommend.

The cottage is on three quarters of an acre which is all fenced in. I have my home on it and another small little rental. It also has a wonderful garden that gives delicious veggies in the summer. It also has a few fruit trees. Sometimes we do get a little bit of snow here in the winter.
My home is in a neighborhood and most of the houses around are full-time.
  • What a gem (place & host !) My first impression when I stepped in: How nice! Great location and in a nice neighborhood. Super quite and private. Perfect to relax and explore nature. Place was super clean and spacious. Home baked goodies (don't be on a diet if you go :). Patricia provides great info about area activities. A great supermarket and restaurants are just a short drive away. This is a great base camp to explore the Sierra. I will be back :)

  • To anyone looking at Air BnB's in this area, stop looking, you've found the place to stay! Patricia's little cottage in the pines is a lovely retreat in this beautiful county. Close to some wonderful views and is very peaceful. The cottage is so warm and welcoming, and Patricia really does go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Ideal for a family, couple or single traveller, we whole heartedly recommend Patricia's air BnB to anyone and we really hope to come back again in the future. This was our first Air BnB experience and I'm not sure anything else will match up! Thank you Patricia!

  • We came to visit the Big Trees State Park and Patricia's place is just minutes away. Quiet area. She pre-heated the cabin for us and had a wood fire going too. Comfortable stay. She even gave us some homebaked treats. I would definitely come again and recommend it to others.

    Mike2017-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Patricia’s cabin was lovely! We had the best weekend trip in the mountains. Patricia was thoughtful and communicative. We would love to stay here again!

  • An entire cottage to ourselves - bedroom, living room, kitchen, bath, and fireplace. Secluded, but a short drive to Murphys, Angel’s Camp, and Big Trees State Park. Quiet and scenic.

This charming little studio cottage was originally built sometime between 1910 and 1925 to house a bakery in conjunction with the butcher shop next door (main house). In the early 1930’s the bakery was closed and the shed was converted into a studio apartment for a young man who lived there for over a decade. In later years it has served as a polling place for Vallecito elections and as a storage facility for various owners. In 2010, after years of neglect, we began a major renovation project in the hopes of returning it to its former glory as a livable cottage. The renovation included new foundation and flooring, new exterior siding, energy efficient windows and doors, and the reframing of the interior walls in order to accommodate the 10” thick insulation. A new bathroom was installed along with the promise of a complete kitchenette to be added in the winter of 2014. The result is a refurbished cottage that is extremely quiet and very comfortable due to the extra thick walls, new insulation, and dual pane windows and doors. It is now completely handicapped accessible. The queen sized Murphy bed has a comfortable memory foam mattress, plenty of pillows and a down comforter and can be folded up for more space during the day. There is a private patio out side the sliding glass door for relaxing. The cottage sits back from the street and is surrounded by a beautiful garden area that offers visitors a quietly, serene setting in which to sip a morning cup of coffee or unwind with a nice glass of locally made wine. A visit to the Vallecito area offers a wide assortment of historical, cultural and outdoor activities. The small town of approximately 300 people is both quiet and welcoming. A short walk, can allow a visitor a peaceful journey into the surrounding countryside where cattle and horses graze in the pastures and birds sing in the trees. Within a 5 minute drive, visitors can wander the shops and sample the wines of the area along Murphy’s trendy Main Street; go spelunking in Moaning Cavern, hike the trail and swim the creek through Natural Bridges or hit the historic district of Angels Camp and a movie at the 75 year old Angels Theater. A 15 minute drive will take you to Columbia State Historical Park and it’s well known Fallon House Theater, New Melones Lake for fishing, boating and waterskiing and Calaveras County Fairgrounds, site of the historic Jumping Frog Jubilee. A 30 minute drive will take you to Calaveras Big Trees State Park, the shopping district of Sonora, Mercer Caverns and Cave City or the Stanislaus River at Camp 9. Summer hikes, kayaking and fishing abound within a 1 hour drive from ‘The Shed’ in the Stanislaus National Forest. Winter activities include skiing or snowshoeing at Bear Valley or Dodge Ridge 1 hour away, even Kirkwood Resort is a 2 hour drive. For those with a passion for driving, we are situated about a 2 hour drive from Yosemite National Park, The San Francisco Bay Area, and Sacramento. When the pass is open in summer a 2-3 hour drive over the Hwy 4 National Scenic Byway takes you through the majestic scenery of the Sierra Nevada, past cold rushing streams, meadows of wildflowers and blue alpine lakes to Markleeville, Grover Hot Springs State Park, and the Lake Tahoe region. A drive along Historic Hwy 49 will take you through the heart of California’s Gold Country where the many small towns offer a bounty of antique stores, unique boutiques, small independent restaurants and interesting museums and mining sites.
The original structure dates back to the early 1920's and was originally built as the town bakery. The Main house was built in the 1890's as a butcher shop. Both have been beautifully refurbished into very comfortable homes.
Vallecito is an incredibly rare community where everyone knows everyone else, but rarely do people get into your business. It is a very quiet community made up of mostly retired people. It is not uncommon for neighbors to stop by for an afternoon chat or to drop by a basket of fresh eggs or home cooked goodies.
  • Bev was very welcoming and super nice, the apt was pristine and had everything and more. It worked out very well. Thanks so much, Bev and Rod.

    Ann and Steve2015-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderfully peaceful time at the beautiful Shed -- gorgeous, sweet space with marvelous attention to detail. Kitchenette is well-stocked with cookware too! Bev and Rod were so welcoming and helpful. A gem of a place in a lovely area, very quiet and restful. Will come back next time in the area!

    Honey2015-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a very relaxing stay at the Shed this weekend as we explored Calaveras County. We loved all of the details and it was obvious that Bev and Rod really put their hearts into making it feel like home. My husband now wants a bed that is as comfortable as the one in the shed and the shower was so unique! When we entered there was a welcome sign for us as well as a binder detailing everything we would want to know about the shed and the surrounding area. Communication was great before the trip. They provided us with great suggestions on things to do as well as directions to their home as my iphone would have directed us to the wrong street. We only stayed one night so unfortunately were unable to visit much with the hosts. We met Rod and he was very kind, introduced us to his 2 cats and dog and ensured we had everything we needed. We did not get a chance to meet Bev but maybe next time. Thank you for the fantastic stay!

    Jacque2015-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Shed is amazing! It is decorated so beautifully and has everything you need! We even got a welcome message in the kitchenette! Bev was away but Rod was a fantastic host, providing advise and tips every day. I would fully recommend it! As an aside, we were planning on spending time in Yosemite and I would definitely recommend staying here because even though the drive is 2 hours it is very scenic. Also there are some lovely hikes in the local area.

    Hayley2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a great value! The room comes with a refrigerator (which the hosts kindly left ciders and ginger ales in-score!) and a small sink kitchen (URL HIDDEN) very small but oh so perfect. The room was perfect size for a weekend stay and the bathroom and shower were separated by a sliding door in case you need privacy with your guest you would be staying with. There are lots of windows to keep good air flow if you stay on a warmer night. The patio is motion sensor lit so that you can see where you're walking if you come home late! This was a very cute spot and a much better deal than the local hotels. I would definitely recommend this place. And it is only a 4-5 minute drive to Murphys!

    Lisa2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Bev and Rod were super great! Even though she wasn't in town, Bev took the time to send me directions/phone number so we wouldn't get lost driving in. The Shed itself was super cute, and outfitted with everything you might need on a weekend getaway (granola and coffee). Also, the foam mattress was suppppper comfortable. I wish we could have stayed longer!

    Crystal2015-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Shed was amazing! We truly enjoyed our stay and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while attending a friend's wedding. It was close drive to Murphys and Angels Camp. Rod and Bev were amazing hosts and we definitely recommend this place to stay!

  • Rod met us at the house and gave us a quick tour of the space. He was very helpful and friendly. He gave us ideas of places to visit and eat.

Secluded, stone and wood beam guest cottage located on a 10 acre retreat style property with a Pool. King Bed, Full Kitchen, Fireplace and Full Bathroom. Wifi and a TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime. Back Deck overlooks a 2 acre pond and pasture with horses. Incredibly magical and picturesque place to relax :) We have shared it with our friends and are now for the first time offering it on Airbnb for 2017. Come be one of our first NEW friends that we share our piece of paradise with. :-)
Guest House: Completely separate from the main house. (Approximately 50 yards away) It was gutted and remodeled 3 years ago. It's the perfect place for a couple or single to relax and recharge :) Bed, bathroom, kitchen and sitting area are on the main floor. Access to the loft is via the ladder shown in photos. In the loft you will find a quiet place to work (a desk) and a nice sitting area to look out at the property in from the second story. Back door leads to a full length back deck with views of the pond and where the horses feed. Friends and family have spent many a morning drinking coffee and nights on the back deck drinking wine and enjoying the view. Property: 10 acre Ranchette with a pond, pool, gazebo, walking trails and firepits. Pond is a catch and release with bass fish. We are at the end of a dead end road and the back of our property borders 180 acres of county owned pasture land. All of the roads to get here are paved. Pool and Property: Guests will have full free roam of all of the property including the pool, gazebo etc. We leave and go to an office off the property almost everyday so you will more than likely have the entire place to yourself a lot of the time :) Animals: 5 horses, 1 goat, barn cats and our house dogs. For the barn animals you can interact with them if you like or just look :) If you would like to feed and/or pet just let us know -we feed them at 9am if you would like to join us. We keep our house dogs inside when we have guests unless guests request a play partner and we are happy to share our young goofy black lab. (and take them to our office with us during the day) Other occasional wildlife include deer, ducks, cranes, geese, wild turkeys, pheasants, otters, muskrats. Ducks and the one lone resident crane are more common. Geese, wild turkeys and pheasants are seasonal. You will occasionally hear coyotes off in the distance at night. Kids: This is a great property for kids to roam and experience semi ranch life. There is A LOT of water here. The pond is about 2 acres and there is a pool. We trust you know your children and can properly discern if this is the right place for them. :-) Over the years we have had tons of kids stay and enjoy. Your Dogs/Cats/Horses: Friendly fur animals are welcome. Most dogs here go off leash but if your dog is a runner please note the area is not completely fenced off. Just let us know if you are bringing a pet as we have special welcome packages for them :) About us: We are entrepreneurs and live in the main house on the property. We have an office that is 2 miles away and take our dogs there almost everyday of the week. We are both originally from cities and enjoy the peace and solitude this property provides. We are more than willing to be friendly and socialize or give you complete privacy. Things to Know Before You Come: Secluded: We are 20 minutes away from a real grocery store so make sure to stock up before you come. There is gas station 2.5 miles away that has snacks and basic items. We keep tea and coffee and standard kitchen items stocked in the cottage. Ranch Life: The guest house is luxurious but this is a ranch with animals and wildlife and dirt :) Please bring appropriate attire to fully enjoy the ranch life. Seasons: Winter brings a lot of rain and it can be soggy so bring boots. The rain makes the grass green but there are not as many flowers as in the summer. We enjoy a lot of fires in winter and the pool in summer :) (Guest House is fully heated and air-conditioned.) We also make our own olive oil and will leave an open bottle for you to try. If you are super interested, I could even talk my Dad to come over to give you a proper olive oil introduction and tasting experience.
The property resides at the end of a private road that is in the Sierra Foothills. Rolling hills with oak tress primarily. We are 10 minutes away from wine tasting, 20 minutes from Sutter Creek and the the other old gold 49er towns and about 30 minutes from Shenandoah Valley the "other" wine country.
  • The cottage provides upscale ranch accommodations and the hosts could not have been more hospitable. Attention to detail was remarkable, exceeding all expectations. A perfect environment for dogs who long for roaming open space and dipping in the pond. So memorable that we booked another weekend next month during the stay.

  • A little oasis for a weekend of relaxation! We loved our stay!

    Julianne2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Meredith and Dori's guest house is a wonderful quiet escape. We loved hearing all the frogs and birds and realxing on the porch in the sun. They provided many wonderful amenities that we weren't expecting including surprises for our dog! (And a wonderful note and wine to celebrate our anniversary). We had fun hiking the neighboring county land and our dog really enjoyed running and playing with their dog. We definitely would love to return!

    Katelyn2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great and memorable weekend at this property. They were so kind and we are very happy that they let us have a special day there with our families. The fridge was so stocked that we could hardly fit the few things we brought. I've not had an airbnb where the guests have so many amenities for you and so many thoughtful gestures.

    Kristi2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Giove and Sammy (our two black labs) keep us coming back... it's the perfect dog adventure, and human relaxation staycation we have found! Your hosts pay attention to every detail and always create a welcoming environment to make you feel at home. This was our third visit with in seven months and I'm sure we will return. It's great; every season is lovely at the cabin!

    Jennifer2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is truly a gem!! When we arrived, Meredith greeted us and showed us where the cottage was located. As we open the door and walked in, we instantly fell in love with the place! We loved the rustic decor and the amount of privacy we had. In the evening, it was raining hard but it made the evening more special to hear the rain with the fireplace going. Come the next morning, we were greeted by two horses in the back porch. The kitchen was well equipped and stocked up that we were able to make breakfast in the morning. Meredith gave us a heads up to stop by the store prior to arriving since they are about 15-20 minutes from a grocery store. Honestly, I have no complaints about this trip other than I would have loved to stay longer!! FYI, Ione is close to Amador County where you will find many local wineries. If you love antique shopping and a historic buildings, there are plenty of towns near by within a 15-45 minute radius.

    Jessica2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Such lovely women, very eager to help with any issue. There really weren't any but we always knew they were available if we did. They literally thought of everything !

    Gail2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Dori and Meredith's place is, without a doubt, a little piece of heaven. We were lucky enough to have our Thanksgiving at their place for a relaxing girls weekend. Not only did we wake up each morning with their beautiful horses right next to the porch, we spent sunsets with hot Apple cider at their back table, hiked throughout the hills, and even cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen! Anyone staying at their place will have a unique and unforgettable time!

Charming Guest House, Magnificent Views, 5 Minutes to Murphy's La Villetta is the name of our guest house, which means 'little house' in Italian. Our main house is the 'big house' and looks like an Italian villa. The ambience is very Mediterranean, as though you are in Tuscany. We are set high on a hill overlooking hills and vineyards. You feel 'a world away' yet we are just a quick 5 minute drive to downtown Murphys. Romantic, private and secluded, but with WiFi to keep you connected.
The cooking space is limited, more of a kitchenette than a full kitchen. There is a small refrigerator, a convection oven, a microwave and a two burner surface unit, all the pots, pans, utensils, dishes, glasses and silverware are there. Everything necessary to make coffee is provided.
  • Wonderful location and lovely home! Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Murphys is charming and easy to get to. Tons to do in surrounding area. A wonderful find!

  • The studio was amazing - very clean and spacious and with a lot of privacy. Sarah and Stan were great hosts, very friendly, helpful and generous! Definitely worth staying if you plan to visit Yosemite or the area nearby.

  • My parents stayed with Stan and Sarah as part of a gift from me. They loved the deck with all of the various birdlife around. The cakes and treats (chocolate covered strawberries!!) provided by them were a lovely touch and very much appreciated. The bed was a little firmer than they were used to but they very much enjoyed their stay and the very kind hospitality provided by their hosts! Thanks Sarah and Stan!! Amber

  • After staying at Encino Place for a night and having dinner with Sarah and Stan, it is abundantly clear why they have so many great reviews. They are generous in terms of material items (homemade granola, bananas, and homemade cookies were waiting for us when we arrived) and in terms of their time. They were prompt with their responses to every inquiry before our stay and they cleaned the apartment early so that we could check in before the usual checkout. My wife and I were originally planning to spend Thanksgiving by ourselves at Encino Place, and Sarah and Stan were very respectful of that. They met us in the driveway when we arrived (!) and then left us alone as soon as they showed us where we would be staying. They offered up their stove and oven for us to use for our Thanksgiving meal. Then, when my wife and I were preparing our food, we got to talking with Sarah and Stan: they are simply magnetic people. Despite our initial plans to have a private Thanksgiving, my wife and I ended up eating, drinking, and talking with Sarah and stan until 10:30 PM. We have stayed in a number of Airbnb places and we usually keep to ourselves. However, you only meet people like Sarah and Stan once in a blue moon and we found that we preferred to spend our short amount of time at Encino Place in their presence. This is the bottom line: If you are looking for an Airbnb place near Sonora (about 2 hours from Yosemite Valley) and if Encino Place is open for the dates you're looking for, then you absolutely should book it right now. Seriously, do yourself a favor: stop going through the reviews and just book it right now. Sarah and Stan will leave you alone in their stunningly beautiful apartment if you want a quiet retreat, but if you're anything like my wife and I (who usually do seek quiet retreats), then you may find yourself being more social with this easy-going couple than you had anticipated. Also, you can see the sun rise over the hills from your bed if you keep the curtains open.

  • Very much enjoyed our stay in Stan and Sarah's accommodation. Welcoming and comfortable, clean, easy to find and get around. Nice touches with fruit, tea, coffee and coming out to say goodbye. We enjoyed their deck space and it was great to have the cooler as it was very hot. Would definitely recommend this spot.

  • The place was amazing! Great location for Yosemite! We loved the chocolate covered strawberries and the home made breakfast. It was perfect!

  • Sarah and Stan are the nicest, kindest, and warmest people we have met in a while. They made us feel at home even before we actually got to Sonora! The appartement is gorgeous. You can tell that Sarah and Stan decorated it with a lot of love. It is very cozy, comfortable and clean! The deck is great, too. We really enjoyed sitting there. Breakfast was delicious. Homemade scones and cereal. Yummi! If you get the chance to stay with Sarah and Stan go for it ...

  • We loved our stay at Encino Place. We changed our arrival time a few times due to traffic, but Sarah and Stan were very accommodating with us getting in late. When we arrived, the room was very clean and there were chocolate covered peanut butter crackers waiting for us, which were great after a long drive! We loved our breakfast of homemade cinnamon bread. This was one of the nicest and homiest AirBnB experiences we have had. Sarah and Stan communicated well and were very friendly. We would highly recommend staying here!

  • This was such a great little spot to stay. We had a blast celebrating our anniversary here. The location was close to the Main Street and was an easy drive. Stan and Sarah were so sweet, left us a nice note and some yummy snacks in the room. Very hospitable and very kind. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing retreat!

  • "The Loft" was a beautiful quiet place to stay close to lots of great outdoor activities for our family. We went xc skiing one day and rappelled into a cavern the next. Liz and Matt were gracious hosts and the goats giant dogs and miniature horses made for a fascinating place to stay! We look forward to the next time...

  • The Loft at Spirit Oaks Ranch was perfect for a weekend getaway. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well furnished and the porch was very relaxing, once the weather dropped below 90 at night! The house was so clean and relaxing. Beautiful views from all the windows. Liz is very easy to communicate with. We would love to stay again.

  • This was our 2nd stay at Liz's place. One in Spring and one in Winter. I don't think I need to say more when I decided to stay here again. Hope to stay here again in Summer and Autumn in near future.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Loft. VERY close to the town of Murphy's, and Liz and Matt were gracious hosts. We won't hesitate to book again- this property exceeded expectations in almost every way!

  • We arrived late evening and were welcomed by Susan's daughter who did an awesome job showing us the room and making us feel welcome. The room was very nice and had everything we needed. They even provided an extra mattress for our daughter. Nice touches with the candies, coffee and jelly beans. Just a short walk to all the activities in downtown Murphys. Will stay with Pete and Susan next time we are in this area.

  • Cozy space with a private entrance and beautiful spacious private bathroom. Thoughtful amenities and local tips and brochures. Bed was very comfortable. Room had coffee maker and a small refrigerator so everything you could need. A few fun treats in the room also.

    Katie2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay for our first visit to Murphys. Susan and Pete were fantastic hosts from the moment we checked in to when we left. There when we needed them and also gave us privacy and space. The room and en-suite is spacious (huge bed and double sinks in the bathroom). Lovely little private sitting area just outside the door shaded by grape vine with a view to their lovely garden below (incl. quail?, hummingbirds and chickens :) ). Bonus was a little fridge, coffee, tea and wine glasses. Susan even gave us a jug of fresh milk for my morning tea! Took us a quick 15 to 20 mins to walk from the center of town to the house (little longer when we strolled back after all the wine tastings). Nice quiet location. Definitely recommend Susan & Pete's place.

    Chloe2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • The room is a great price for the area. I loved that we had the option of only staying for one night. The double sinks in the bathroom made it easy to get ready in the morning. The deck was the best part!! It's truly peaceful! I would stay again. Our experience was wonderful.

    Azucena2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, very responsive. The room is in a calming country location just 4 minute drive to adorable Murphys. Room is located at the back of the main home, accessed via a longish deck accent d with lots of pretty plants. Clean bedding, comfortable bed, nice coffee and tea service with fresh creamer waiting in the mini frig. Big shower with plenty of hot water. Delighted to hear an owl for just a bit and saw a fox along the road too.

    diana2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful location and comfortable, private, and clean room. I really appreciated the details that were included in the room...including the jar of jelly bellies! Very comfortable bed and a perfect distance (for me) from town. I enjoyed walking there and back twice!

    Matthew2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Susan and Pete were extremely nice and welcomed us when we got there. Great communication, place was clean and very comfortable. Peaceful patio to sit out at night and watch the stars and 3 minute drive to downtown main st. All in all a great experience.

    Alex2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay in Murphys! The room actually is a little larger than I expected from the pictures and the bathroom as well. Also, there are two sinks in the bathroom which was nice. The bed is ridiculously comfortable! Slept so well! Beautiful views and a one mile, 15-20 minute walk into town which we loved. You also can drive and get there in a couple minutes so the location was very convenient. Susan greeted us when we got there, very sweet and gave some recommendations. Other than that, felt like our own private getaway. They had coffee and tea plus wine glasses and a wine opener which came in handy! Overall, just a wonderful, comfortable place to stay in Murphys. Thank you!

  • We had a great stay at Jana's place in the Sierra Foothills. The home was very clean and has beautiful views of the surrounding foothills (great sunsets!). It's about 20 minutes from Amador City, which was great for a restful weekend, getting away from the hectic city. Jana stocked the refrigerator with some food and snacks, which is great in case you forgot to bring something up to the house. We would definitely recommend Jana's place for a great, relaxing weekend in the foothills!

  • We had a very relaxing two-night stay at Jana's cottage near Sutter Creek, it was clean, cozy, and had amazing views of the surrounding area, it really does feel like it's on top of the world. The cottage has a beautiful warm fireplace and great amenities, and was generously stocked with kitchen supplies and breakfast. Jana was an excellent host and we'd love to come back again!

  • Where to begin??? One night was not enough. It is such a beautiful place that definitely makes you feel you are on top of the world. The bed was comfortable and we barely wanted to leave the deck. Once you get there you won't want to leave so bring groceries and everything you may need. Jana is really sweet and it was nice to meet her, her hubby and sweet puppy.

    Lindsey2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and great view! One tip - do not use the navigation app WAZE to get here..use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps. Waze took me on a 5 mile unpaved road up the Jana's place when there was a paved option that took only a minute or two longer. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps found the paved route and made life much easier. Jana has all of the essentials and plenty of space for anything you might be bringing along. 30 minute drive from Jana's to Jackson Casino. Also about 25 minutes from the nearest grocery store so be sure you come prepared so that you don't have to leave the great scenery!

Great cabin with extra room for the entire family large or small. Living room has 50 inch 4k tv, Netflix, blue ray dvd player. Sleeps up to 10. Downstairs has 2 bedrooms and a bath. The loft has 4 beds 40 inch flat screen, dvd player and its own private bath for the kids. We are one of the few cabins in the area that offers a gas range stove. Also, when the power goes out you are still able to cook on the new gas stove that was just installed. We just installed a new central heat. You will not be cold in this cabin. You should ask what kind of heat others cabins have before you rent them. Our cabin comes with new sheets and towels at no extra charge. • This Cabin is great! - Kitchen stocked with most / all cooking tools. - Living room equipped with a nice TV and many board / card games to keep you busy. - Bed rooms with very warm beds (I think all the beds had an electric blanket. Didn't bother figuring out how to use it during our stay, but it's a nice touch!). - Reliable WiFi. Washer / Dryer set. Overall, a very clean place. The cabin is perfect for just staying the night if you're planning on traveling for most of the day, or even if you're planning on staying inside the entire day. No problems during my stay, highly recommend!

  • This is a great cabin in the mountains. Brand new carpets and heater!! Only Verizon phones get cell signal, so plan ahead if needed, but WiFi is fast once you’re at the cabin. The place was very clean, lots of soft towels and amazing blankets. Reminder: baking takes longer at higher altitudes. We learned that the fun way =D. Definitely got everything as advertised and our group will keep this place in mind for future trips

  • Hosts were very responsive to our questions. When the number of guests changed from the original number on the reservation, they were fair and prompt in changing the cost to reflect the new number. Sid & Kate are very kind and organized hosts. We really appreciated the location: the entrance is on Route 4, the room faces the back of the building and has a very nice hill sloping away from the porch area, so it's super quiet and relaxing. We really appreciated both the lack of TV and the wealth of board games and books for all ages. Of course, they do have good wifi, which these days is indispensable. We went to Arnold to be near the snow, and so, after a full afternoon of playing in the snow with small children, we could've used a clothes dryer. If you are staying for longer time and want to do laundry there's a laundromat a mile down the road. We would stay here again!

Sid and Kate were very accommodating of our late check in and had great communication. If you're looking for a great place to stay in Arnold I strongly suggest bears lair (:

  • The hosts were welcoming and easy to work with. The space was ideal for our family of four. It had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the bear decorations, the many fun books and toys (ping pong!) and the large back yard. Plus the Italian restaurant next door was lovely. The location was fantastic for a weekend away. We enjoyed snow in nearby Bear Valley one day and a gorgeous hike on the state park the next.

  • This is a great value and convenient location. It is a basement apartment but is only an issue if you're over 6'4. The back slider opens it up and makes the place feel like a cabin in the woods. It is very quiet so not recommended for parties but my two kids had a great time sledding.

Anara and Dave our wonderful hosts who communicate clearly and promptly. • This is our 2nd time to Skylight in Arnold. It is in the perfect location - away from noise and the highway, yet only minutes to great restaurants and the grocery store. Arnold is a great little town. We love hiking, fly fishing and the great outdoors - and Skylight is centrally located. Calaveras Big Trees, Bear Valley and Lake Alpine are all within a 30 - 40 min drive as is Murphys and Columbia. Just a wonderful AirBnB with excellent hosts!!

  • This was our second stay at Skylight Retreat and we love the home feeling of the house and all it's amenities, as well as the serenity of being in such a beautiful and quiet location. Dave and Anara are great hosts who are available for any questions by phone. You have complete access to the entire house as Dave and Anara do not live on-site. We explored new areas and found there are still many places and hikes to visit next time. The master bedroom is our favorite room, large and expansive feeling with lots of windows. This time we heard the owl as we drifted into sleep state. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to either cook a meal or re-heat. We enjoyed dining on the deck in the evenings. With the wrap around decks you can pick and choose sun/shade throughout the days. We came home so refreshed and relaxed and are looking forward to when we can visit again! Ron and Nalini

    Nalini2015-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Skylight Retreat was a delightful destination for a birthday celebration getaway. The master bedroom is lovely, spacious, and comfortable. We especially enjoyed sitting on the back deck in the evening with a glass of wine - and on the front porch in the morning with a cup of coffee. It was an excellent base for shopping, wine tasting and dining in Murpheys; and hiking/swimming at Alpine Lake and Calavaras Big Trees.

Our clean, comfortable cabin in Pioneer has everything you need to enjoy your time in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Our cabin is a great place to relax and enjoy many activities including hiking, skiing, golfing, gambling, wine tasting and much more. Yosemite is approximately a three and a half hour drive from my cabin.
Our cabin in Pioneer is at a perfect location to enjoy both the Foothills and the High Sierra. The neighborhood is quiet. The elevation of the cabin is 3,100 feet. The elevation is high enough to escape the valley heat but low enough so travel to the cabin in the winter is usually easy. During the winter the cabin occasionally receives significant snowfall. The cabin is close to snow parks and world class skiing at Kirkwood. Gambling at Jackson Rancheria Casino is a short twenty minute drive. The cute towns of Sutter Creek and Plymouth are close by and both have excellent wine tasting. Volcano is a fifteen minute drive, the town has restaurants and live performances in the evenings. Volcano is also close to Black Chasm Cave and Indian Grinding Rock State Park. Bear River Reservoir and Silver Lake are close by. Both offer excellent boating and fishing. Highway 88 is one of the most beautiful highways in the Sierra. There are numerous great hikes close to Carson Pass which is about an hour drive from the cabin. The cabin has everything you need to enjoy your time. 1) The cabin has a stocked kitchen. 2) The deck in perfect for relaxing with plenty of chairs and a propane BBQ. 3) We have satellite TV in the living room and the bedroom. No WIFI sorry. 4) The cabin has a washer and dryer for you laundry. 5) The upstairs loft/bedroom has an air conditioner and heater that works great for ideal sleeping conditions. 6) Downstairs the cabin can be heated using the wood burning stove(the wood is provided for you to use responsibly) or cooled using fans. 7)There are videos and games to play located near the TV sets. Bring your cell phones, there is no connected land line. Cell phone reception is marginal but Pinegrove just down the road at the Post Office gets cell reception. I get reception a lot of times on the deck or by the kitchen window inside the cabin. There is no Wi-Fi.
The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet. Many guests enjoy the scenic view from the deck and using the wood burning stove.
  • Cheryl was wonderful and incredibly accommodating! We thoroughly enjoyed the cabin and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in the foothills. We look forward to staying here again!

  • Great place to stay. Beautiful views. You're nestled right up in a pretty rural, rustic spot in a fairly spaced-out neighborhood of other similar homes. It's a nice community. Market, coffee shops, restaurants nearby. Probably need to drive to do sightseeing. I expected to be able to walk out into a nature path, but you're situated in a residential area -- which is fine; you're a 15 minute drive from a state park.

    Charlie2014-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Cheryl's cozy, cute, well-maintained, and well-appointed cabin. We especially appreciated the comfortable seating (and bed!) and great lighting for reading. Amy was friendly, accommodating, and helpful in meeting us and checking us in and out.

  • We had a great experience at the cabin. It was very peaceful. We ate dinner outside on the porch while enjoying the scenery. Cheryl and Amy were very accommodating. Highly recommended place to stay!

  • The communication with Cheryl was friendly, helpful and efficient. Everything was better than expected. The area is super peaceful and serene. The cabin has everything you need. I enjoyed my evening with the fire going and watching a good movie. The main bed is very comfortable. I will certainly consider returning on future visits to the area.

  • The Peaceful Pioneer Cabin is exactly that. We started calling it the cozy cabin! The wood burning fire stove was nice to sit around and relax after a day of skiing at Kirkwood. The cabin is fully stocked with everything you need to cook and BBQ, we grilled and even ate breakfast outside on the beautiful patio! Amy, the cabin manager, was incredibly sweet and very accomodating to our arrival and check-out times. We will be back and will bring our friends next time, there is plenty of room for 6 people to sleep and hang out comfortably.

    Courtney2015-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very nice and clean. The fireplace was great and the surrounding area was very peaceful. The host, Amy, was very welcoming and kind.

    Evan2015-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at Cheryl's cabin, and it was just as wonderful as our first. The new sliding door is a great improvement, bringing better light and inviting people out to the beautiful deck. Amy is very welcoming and sweet. Thank-you, Cheryl, for providing such a beautiful spot.

    • 30 miles from Bear Valley Ski Resort; also great cross-country skiing and sledding nearby. • Large wood-burning stove and gas wall heater to keep you cozy in winter and ceiling fans to keep you cool in summer. • Enjoy the picnic table under the trees, relaxing in the hammock and playing horseshoes in the backyard. • Fantastic hiking and mountain biking nearby - Big Trees State Park and the Arnold Rim Trail are just up the road. • 5 minutes from White Pines Lake for great swimming and fishing
From its original knotty pine walls, to its large wood-burning stove, to the giant pine trees towering overhead, this is not a condo in the mountains -- this is classic, cozy, old-world cabin on a large wooded lot, but equipped with modern conveniences.
The cabin is located in located on Pine Drive in the the Meadowmont neighborhood or Arnold. Its right across the road from a great coffee shop and a cool neighborhood grocery store but it is set back 100 ft from the road on a large 1/2 acre wooded lot so dont worry its not too close :) We do have neighbors on both sides of us but there's plenty of room between cabins and they are quiet folks
  • Amazing and cute cabin! Would have been absolutely perfect if there was snow, but aside from that, it was great! Definitley recomennd!

  • This was the perfect place for our weekend! Even though there was no WiFi, we were close enough to the hotspot across the street to get service if we needed it. The wood burning stove kept the whole cabin warm and cozy when it got chilly at night. Great location, great cabin. 10/10 would come again.

Our well-loved cabin takes you back to the 1970s and is located on a quiet cul de sac, up the hill from a timeless lake. The large wrap around deck allows for relaxation amidst the pines with a western view of the sunset and stars. Serenity and ease.
In the kitchen there is a brand new refrigerator and microwave, along with a dishwasher, full equipped kitchen supplies. There is a stove top, and an electric grill on the deck, where one can grill under the stars. There is a washer/dryer unit. There are two full bathrooms, and three bedrooms with 2 queen size, 1 full, 1 twin cot, and futon in living area, sleeping next to the fireplace. Enjoy VCR movies. To celebrate the modern era, there is wifi for your use. Your stay will be a special one.
  • We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend in Arnold. The house is charming and set in the woods so it is very quiet and peaceful indeed. We enjoyed the funky 70s atmosphere and will definitely come back! Darby and Wimbledon are both charming and welcoming. We came in winter so did not enjoy the lake but are planning to on our next weekend. Thank you Darby for the very generous hours to arrive and depart, you are so kind and flexible. Merci beaucoup!

    Jason & Fabienne2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Restful and Rustic Retreat is aptly named. Our group (4 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog) had a fantastic time over the weekend. The deck is the place to be! We ate out there, played games out there, watched squirrels and looked at the stars. Our host made us and our dog feel welcome and the OJ in the fridge saved the day! The kids loved the lake and it's just 4 miles from Calaveras Big Trees State Park. We hope to come back for a wintertime visit.

    Maggie2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second stay at Darby's cabin and like the first time it was just what we were looking for: easy location to the lake, town, and outdoors. Darby had provided juice, bagels, and coffee which saved us from having to stop at the local grocery store for our breakfast the first morning. As a reminder, Snowshoe Brewery is always a place we visit and a really great Italian restaurant, Serafina's is a must-make reservations. It was real warm this trip but the cabin has a portable cooler which kept us comfortable (and acts as a humidifier keeping the air from being so dry from someone more accustomed to a coastal climate. Thanks and we hope to be back again soon.

    doug2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great neighborhood, walking distance to lake. Very comfortable, roomy house. Darby was very welcoming and gave precise instructions on what and where to find. Darby even provided extra sweatshirts for adults, staffed animals for kids and treats for our dog. She even bought some firewood to keep us warm. Darby welcomed us as a family. Highly recommend this property especially for large groups with kids and pets.

  • It's our second time back to this place. Darby's place is great for families on a weekend getaway in a peaceful Arnold wilderness. Enjoyed the place, likely to come back again for the third time!

    Andrew2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was amazing. It's right in the middle of everything. Big tree national forest is only about a 15 min drive, grocery store is only 1 min drive away. The fireplace was a huge plus with these cold winter nights. Darby as well was an excellent host and very easy to contact. Overall it's an excellent place and I would want stay here again.

    Jose2015-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Close to everything, yet very quiet and secluded. We loved the retro decor and cozy main room. Darby was a wonderful hostess!

  • we had a great stay at darby's place. i love a frames and the windows had a great view of the trees. even though there were some neighbors, it still felt secluded. it was easy to get to the grocery store - only a few minutes away. the place itself had wifi, lots of VHS tapes, and everything we needed. also really appreciated how dog-friendly it was - our pups went right for the toys and dog bowls. the bagels and a few basics in the fridge were really nice, too. i hope to come back!

Our home is just 3 blocks walk from downtown. Access the room with a private door from the outside. You’ll find a cozy one bedroom suite, perfect for a couple. On suite bathroom with bathtub! Coffee, tea, cereal provided!
Our home is on historic Bradford Street. Surrounded by some very lovely old homes. You may be awakened on Sunday to the sound of Church Bells from Saint Patrick’s Church (just like in Europe) The room is perfect for a couple, with everything you’ll need for a long weekend or a stop over on your way to or from Yosemite . The street we live on may be busy on week day mornings, as the county employees head to work but things quiet down a lot on the weekends. Friday morning is garbage day so it is a bit more noisy then! Our location is ideal for walking to downtown. You will find many fine restaurants and (email hidden) theater. A grocery market is just a few minutes walk as well as several banks, galleries and museums. The fairgrounds are just a few blocks away. Everything is within a very short and comfortable walking distance. The local Art Night 'Second Saturday' is held on the second Saturday of each month, from 5-8pm, where you will find many shops and galleries open and hosting local artists and musicians. In the summer you can walk to Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. I’ve made a book with all the restaurants and area attractions to help you find your way around our community but feel free to knock on our door and ask questions. You'll find a comfortable queen sized bed. A bistro table and chairs for game playing. A TV with Comcast cable and high speed internet. There is a coffee pot, fridge and microwave, iron, ironing board. We recently upgraded our bedding, new carpet, new shower curtain and some new towels. Starting a new year!
In the beautiful Sierra Nevada Foothills, in the heart of California’s “Gold Country” lies Sonora , named after the miners from Sonora Mexico who settled the City in 1848. Known as the “Queen of the Southern Mines”, this pristine City still holds on to its historic charm with many of its existing buildings dating back to the 1800’s. In fact, a walk along most streets in the City allows one to reminisce with days gone by; a brick or stone building, a slate wall, an iron shutter or fence, or a historic home nestled in an old fashioned garden. Along with Historic buildings the City is home to three museums. These museums give visitors an insight into the way of life in California's mining towns. The California State Park's of Columbia and Railtown 1897, just a short drive from Sonora, are also a must see to get the full "Mother lode" experience. The Historic Downtown is also home to the Tuolumne County Arts Alliance and several art studios featuring the brilliant work of local artists. Being known as the regional center for arts and entertainment visitors can enjoy live theater (walk to Stage 3 or a short drive to two Sierra Rep theaters) and year-round events and festivals. A short drive away you will find the wonderful Black Oak Casino with free live music nightly. Every season brings a natural beauty to Sonora. Visitors can also partake in the numerous winter and summer outdoor activities located just outside the City and in the nearby Stanislaus National Forest. These include skiing, hiking, boating, swimming and horseback riding. Sonora is an easy drive from the San Francisco Bay Area or the Central Valley. State Highways 108 and 49 pass through the City.
  • I had the best time at Laurie & Bob's place! They were so welcoming and helpful. The room was very cute and cozy. Also, downtown was so close and the walk was beautiful. Laurie and Bob went above and beyond as hosts. I would highly recommend this cozy little gem in Sonora.

    Jenna2014-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Laurie and Bob's place was great- a really nicely decorated room with a private entrance and private bathroom. It's really close to the centre of Sonora so I'd recommend it to anyone visiting the area or stopping off on the way to Yosemite as we were. Lots of thoughtful touches- fruit and biscuits in the room and books on the area for examples. Thanks!

    Sarah2014-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in Sonora - easy to walk the entire town, great room with separate entrance, very thoughtful about all the small touches as well. We loved it!

    David2015-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our short but sweet stay in Sonora with Laurie and Bob. The information about the area and collection of board games was much appreciated! All the amenities are well thought out--you've got everything you need for a comfortable stay. We wish we could have enjoyed the home and area more, but wanted to get an early start to our Yosemite adventure.

    Ali2015-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • This space was great! Lovely neighborhood, home, and yard. The room was so cozy and inviting. The hosts provided great information of the surrounding area in a book full of brochures and maps. I loved looking through the book of Yosemite photos that Laurie took. Highly recommend Laurie and Bob's place to all who seek a relaxing getaway in Sonora.

    Carmen2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Laurie and Bob's place is a good stopover between San Francisco and Yosemite - Sonora's a nice town to wander round. Nice to have your own entrance to the room and the studio flat is very comfortable. Appreciated the welcoming chalkboard and the pack of information about the local area!

    Charlotte2017-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • With the kitchenette and table/eating area and the separate entrance this felt almost like a small apartment, not just a room, a pleasant surprise! Everything was clean and well-prepared with stacks of info about the area. Sonora is beautiful and the Main street in perfect walking distance. Laurie & Bob were nice and helpful hosts and gave me great recommendations what to visit along the way to Sonora.

There was complimentary plastic plates, utensils, napkins, cups available. Everything was neat and accurate.cell service is limited! It is a very quiet neighborhood with a lot of nature. The photos don't show the table and chairs on the patio outside, which is a nice, private space to relax. a 5 minute drive from Pine Grove for groceries, great pizza and less than 15 from Volcano, a great little town. The Studio is what we call it because for many years it was an art studio, a space for creative energy to flow. It's actually a full apartment with kitchen, bath, laundry. It's nestled in the trees in a quiet neighborhood on the Stanislaus River. I can't host pets.
The Studio is in a quiet, family-oriented cul-de-sac neighborhood on the edge of the Wild-and-Scenic Stanislaus River Canyon, close to cross country and downhill skiing, the Sierra towns of Murphys and Arnold, wine tasting, art galleries, and music events.
  • We had a great time in Bear Valley. Chris's place was well setup, though we were there mostly to sleep after long days skiing. It was 45 mins in the snow to get to the hill, but not a tough drive. Stops for coffee or breakfast sandwich/burrito options along the way. Chris was great with communication and warnings on things like where you'd get cell service.

    Lisa2016-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Chris made us feel very welcome to his comfortable studio. There was ample room for the three of us and the setting in the woods was very relaxing. The bonus was snow on Christmas Eve. Chris provided local information, trails, restaurant and shopping. We hope to stay here again.

  • Chris' roomy studio apartment is very comfortable, well equipped, tastefully decorated with art and ceramics and close to the Big Trees, summer music, wine tasting and swimming. • The Studio was a perfect for a stay in the Murphys/Arnold area. It is conveniently located between the two towns and was so easy for making day trips into town, going to Natural Bridges and Big Trees State Park. The Studio was nice, clean, comfortable and had all the necessary amenities. Chris was a great host and provided a lot of handy information prior to our stay including information about cell coverage and detailed directions to The Studio. We met Chris on the property and he was very welcoming and provided us with lots of great information for touring around the area. We were scheduled to stay from Friday to Sunday but were unable to arrive until Saturday. Chris was kind enough to be flexible with our checkout time so that we could also enjoy most of the Sunday out and about in the area. I recommend The Studio for a convenient, comfortable, affordable and very friendly stay in Calavaras County.

  • Chris was a communicative, kind, and generous host. He gave us great suggestions for things to do in the area, including hikes out his front door. He let my daughters play with the cats in his house and was easygoing about check in and check out times. The house was clean and comfortable for two adults and two young kids. The location is convenient to nice food at Murphys, swimming holes, and Big Trees.

There are beautiful walks right from his home and it's a short drive from a host of great places to explore. This bedroom is decorated with Turkish decor since we used to live in Turkey. It has two windows, a fan in summer and a heater in winter. There is a shared bathroom with the guests in the room next door. The house is on 3 acres of oak woodland.
1 bedroom; 1 queen bed, 1 single rollaway, sleeps 3. Very quiet, private and secluded. 3 acres of oak woodland, Swiss barn. Lots of wildlife: turkeys, foxes, deer, hummingbirds, etc. 1 mile to Columbia State Park with Gold Rush exhibits and panning, horseback riding, candle shop, candy kitchen. Miles of hiking trails out the gate. Living room, kitchen, deck. Kid friendly: treehouse, zipline, tetherball, basket ball hoop, Swiss barn, 49er water canals for hiking. Upstairs loft is private. Minimal, upon check in. I may or may not be present. Private, secluded, lots of wildlife. Rural neighborhood and all that entails... Guests will have a relaxing, quiet time with many things to do around them such as skiing, caving, wine tasting, gold panning, riding the stagecoach, candle dipping, visiting museums, local play house theater at SRT. Bus one mile away. 1.5 miles to airport (Columbia) :). Walking distance to airport, but we will arrange to pick you up if you fly in. Parking is plentiful. Driveway is dirt and last part is steep.
Rural, nice neighbors, but one is a collector of car parts. Quiet, remote, lots of wildlife, rural. Be prepared to see animals and live rustic life style.
  • I booked with Cheryl the morning of my stay and she was very quick to reply. Finding the cabin was not too difficult with her directions. The cabin is quaint, very clean, and the room had a comfortable bed. My overall experience with Cheryl was laid back - I will definitely return!

  • our stay at cheryl's log home was a dream come true. we felt welcomed and very well looked after. the directions to her place were spot on. it helps if you arrive by daytime as the last part of the road can be a bit tricky. when we could not go to yosemite as planned because of the fire cheryl came up with a fabulous idea. instead we went to see the big trees, alpine lake and also visited the old gold rush town. there's so much to discover in columbia! we really enjoyed spending time with cheryl, chatting, drinking wine, listening to music. cheryl was even so kind as to make us breakfast! lastly, everything was clean and it smelled so good (inside the house and outside). thank you for your hospitality, we'd love to come back sometime in the future.

  • Driving up the roads past scenery the likes of those described in Mark Twain's novels, my family and I noticed our cabin peaking through the woods in a sunny display of what makes the very essence of California's great outdoors. Walking up to our home for the next few days we were greeted with a warm welcome from our generous host Alyssa. The inside of the cabin was a beautiful synchronization of old and new. I immediately noticed the old industrial furnace. The high rise ceiling, the fully equipped kitchen, television set comfortable sofas and furnished bedrooms will make you feel like you are at a home away from home. For those of you looking for a couples retreat, family getaway or just the desire to have an amazing experience , this is the place to stay. Also, if you're lucky, you can spot deer around the area! Great stay!

  • Joyce was a great host! It was clean and quiet and perfect for a relaxing getaway! We went wine tasting on Saturday. The wineries are about 30 minutes away from the house but as long as you have a scheduled driver/limo then it there is no problem getting to and from the wineries. There are no available Uber or Lyft drivers to take you from the house to the wineries. However, there are a few available who can take you in between wineries and back to the house. Overall, this was a great stay and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a relaxing weekend getaway!

  • Beautiful home. Very comfortable and inviting. The ad does not do the decks and views justice. They are breathtaking!

  • Joyce's house was perfect fo what we wanted. There were 6 of use and plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed the amazing views and hanging out on the deck was lovely. They recently purchased it so it still feels like a house that's been "staged" and not decorated quit yet. No pictures on walls (as of today.) It could use some personal touches. We will definatly return!

Our classic 1970s A-frame cabin offers a simple space of retreat with lovely light, view of the trees and uncluttered decor. Great for couples and also solo travelers. Arnold has a small town feel and is perfect for a weekend getaway or as a base for your adventures in the Sierras. There is lots to explore nearby with Big Trees State Park and Stanislaus National Forest minutes away, lakes, skiing, mountain towns and wine-tasting, or just relax at the cabin and take in the view.
The cabin is on a small parcel in a quiet neighborhood, close to town. We're a 5-minute walk to hiking in Stanislaus National Forest/Arnold Rim Trail (we provide a custom map for nearby hikes), 10-minute drive to Big Trees State Park, 15 minutes to the town of Murphys (great wineries, pubs and dining), 40 minutes to Bear Valley Ski Resort, 10 minutes to White Pines Lake, 25 minutes to Mercer Caverns, 45 minutes to Lake Alpine. If your trip is taking you farther afield, we’re ~2 hours to Yosemite (Big Oak Flat entrance), and 2.5 hours from Lake Tahoe via the less-traveled Highway 4 (only in warmer months). The cabin fits up to 4 adults, with 1 bedroom and a loft sleeping area (no door) with its own half bathroom. The downstairs bedroom has a new Queen bed, and the loft has a Double futon mattress. We've gone without TV or landline, but WiFi means you can stream to your own devices and make WiFi calls through your cell. If you have a laptop you can hook it up to our projector (adapters for thunderbolt2, DVI-D, mini DVI). We have loads of board games, puzzles. The kitchen has pots/pans/kettle, toaster, rice cooker, coffee grinder. Help yourself to organic coffee, tea, condiments! There is no AC, television, microwave. We don't have a landline but we make calls on our cell through Wifi (make sure your phone settings are enabled). Cell reception is spotty throughout the Sierras except for Verizon. We have a flat parking pad instead of a driveway, which makes things easier in the winter months.
We are located in a quiet neighborhood, up a hill about 5 minutes from town. Most of Arnold is off of Highway 4. Big Trees Market at the base of the hill is a convenient stop for snacks and supplies.
  • Absolutely one of my favorite Airbnb homes yet. The cute A-frame house is incredibly charming and equipped with all the needed amenities. Andria was an amazing host, quick to respond and readily available. Highly recommend this stay!

    Tamika2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in the cabin! It was exactly as the cute photos show on Airbnb. My kids loved watching a movie on the projector, and I appreciate Andria’s hospitality.

  • We had the most lovely and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend at the A Frame. The cottage is very tastefully decorated with vintage finds and equipped with a Bluetooth speaker, extra blankets to stay cozy and a well-equipped kitchen that allowed us to cook all of our meals. The queen bed in the master bedroom is very comfortable too! Arnold is a cool town too, plenty to do in and around the area. We will absolutely be back!

    Adrienne2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Literally, amazing. Cannot wait to go back. From the space to the host to the area... It was beyond amazing.

    Kelsie2017-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Andria's cabin. It was super cozy and a great home base from which to explore Arnold and Murphy's. Its a bit sparse, but I think that is fine. We live in a house with toddlers appreciated the simplicity of her place which was totally free of clutter. She has clearly considered the details which were lovely -- great lighting, nice big table, mid century modern chairs to pull up to the gas fireplace, and provisions in the kitchen. Andria was very easy to communicate with making the trip and accessing the cabin simple. We stayed there in December and while it was unseasonably warm, it was still cold at night and her place heated up easily, which was a concern of mine. We also appreciated her detailed tips for visiting the area. Great place to get away.

    Ellen2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I spent a night at the A-frame overnight on our way to Yosemite. Such a special spot, very cozy and stylish! Andria made everything very easy and convenient and recommended some great spots around the area. Once we checked in, we explored Calaveras Big Trees State Park which was incredible and easy to get to... a must see! We hope to stay at the A-frame again!

  • Very welcoming, and a nice place to be. thank you for our privacy, we really enjoyed the place. exactly what we were hopeing for.

  • Staying here was a real treat! The kitchen is well equipped which was great for us since we cooked every day. The bathroom, bedroom, and living room are comfortable and have great surprises like a fireplace, a bed warmer (so useful), and even makeup remover. Given there are so many windows, you really feel like you are in the forest. Waking up in the morning surrounded by trees was probably the best part of our trip. Highly recommend!

  • The Cabana was very well located for Murphys. If it hadn't been almost 100 degrees, we could have walked to Main Street as it is only 1/2 mile away. It is nice and secluded. The bathroom has a huge shower and is nicely appointed. It has the essentials for what 2 people would need in the kitchen. Good size.

    Lori2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely setting! It was private and quiet yet close enough to the shops and restaurants to walk. The home was nicely furnished and clean. We loved the open floor plan and high ceilings that gave it a spacious feel. A very relaxing weekend.

    Tami2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We were staying in Murphy's after camping at Utica close by. We ended up making it to town earlier than we thought and last minute asked to check-in early which was granted. The code we had was simple to use to open the door. Everything was perfectly as described and clean. Very close to town about a 4 min drive down the road. Would definitely stay again.

    Jessica2016-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Cabana to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and we weren't disappointed! We were surprised as we entered the front door as the space is actually larger than shows in the photos due to the high ceilings. Beautifully appointed and very clean with everything we needed for our 3 day stay. We were also surprised to enjoy a king size bed as on Airbnb it only says "real bed". The extra large walk in shower was also a treat. Most enjoyable was the amazing scent from all the flowers and foliage that came in through the open windows. The Cabana also has a swamp cooler that was much needed during the June heat wave. Driving up the steep driveway is a bit tricky, but backing into the space was a great idea and made it easier to get out. We will definitely return as there is so much to do in the Murphy's area and it was so nice coming back to such a lovely, homey space!

    Debra2016-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time in Murphys. Cabana was clean, cute, and convenient to everything. After visiting from Napa enjoyed the low key non-commercial aspects of wine tasting in murphys.

Our home in Sheep Ranch, CA, perched in the mountains above Murphy's, has provided our family with a true retreat from the pulse of our Bay Area city life. The house is straw bale and is truly beautiful. It sits on 55 acres in the Sierra Foothills. We are artistic, creative people and often use our home as a retreat to both work in AND to unwind. Come experience this special place and be inspired, as we are, by the beauty of Gold Country.
Our home is a straw bale, energy efficient home. Its a really creative and beautiful space. Its a two bedroom, two bath house, and one of the bedrooms is a bunk room that sleeps 8. We have a guest cottage on the cabin with a queen bed that sleeps 2. The main living environment is open floor plan and there is a dining table that seats 8 or more people and a full equipped kitchen and two main living areas. The house has a wrap around porch with lots of places to sit, read, watch the sunset and relax. We have a deck off the porch that houses a hot tub and a large outdoor seating area. Our pool is right below the house and there is a patio and grill beside the pool for hanging out, star gazing and enjoying warm days. Our cabin is located about 50 yards from the main house. It has an indoor sink, a composting toilet and an outdoor tub and shower. Please note for those who need a lot of internet access, we have satellite internet which is slow and spotty. This is not the place for streaming videos so bring dvds or enjoy ours.
Sheep Ranch, Ca has a rich and unique history. Its a small town and everyone knows each other. The town was named after, you guessed it, a Sheep Ranch! It is the setting for one of the most lucrative mines during the Gold Rush and a lot of the people who live there have amazing stories about the history of the town. Its normal to see sheep roaming free as it is the only incorporated town in America that owns its own flock of sheep. If you come upon a flock of sheep in the road, just honk and they will slowly meander off.
  • This place is definitely a little oasis on a hill. Not much more you could ask for. Loved the open kitchen with large dining table. The pool is awesome because it's a salt water pool. Appreciated the no-shoes rule and limited internet because we were also out here to not constantly check our phones or the internet. Plenty of cleaning supplies to make it easy to maintain the place. Lots of open space. I would come back here. Didn't end up bringing my dog. Plenty of swimming holes and hiking nearby.

    Joule2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing and stunning views! The access is remote but it is totally worth it for true peace and quiet. The house looks like it came from Sunset magazine - beautiful even to the light switches. Chelsea is an absolute pleasure to communicate with and beyond helpful! It is also a short drive away from the most adorable little towns to the biggest trees you've ever seen. This house is a true gem!

    Angie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous. Comfortable. Easy, great communication. What more can I say? It's quiet, beautiful, very well-appointed. It felt like staying at home. A perfect place for a family to go for the weekend to get away. We had a blast, and can't wait to come back again. Chelsea and Jonah were also fast and easy communicators and gave suggestions to make our stay extra special. Really really rad.

    Rafi2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is even more beautiful than it looks in the photos! Everyone in the family had a lot of fun, and there was plenty of space to lounge in. Just make sure to download the directions in case you lose phone reception like we did!

    Dainiz2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • LOVE THIS PLACE! Was fun, cozy and perfect for my group! A little hot, but nothing you can do about that, next time I come I want to try the fall! The pool, decor and cleanliness was just amazing! So serene we didn't even leave the house! I'm sure the towns and nearby swimming is amazing but we were having so much fun at the house we didn't bother to leave! And I loved that I could have my dog! He had a better time than me I think hahah! Highly recommend!

    Sandra2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Chelsea has been so amazing throughout the whole process. She's been incredibly responsive with all my inquiries prior to our trip and was extremely upfront about potential issues (ie. no cell service, pool wasn't ready yet, etc) and even emailed us suggestions of nearby attractions. Her home is extremely beautiful and well decorated with an amazing view. Unfortunately, the weekend of our stay, there was a fire nearby and caused PGE to shut down power to the entire area for about 8 hours. Chelsea was so great about trying to reach out to us and had sent her caretaker to check in on us. Only downside were the mosquitoes but that's nature! I would love to stay here again.

    Angela2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place! The house is beautiful and unique. It's exceptionally well designed and furnished, and also oh-so-comfortable and inviting. Chelsea has clearly put a lot of time and effort into this place and it shows. Just as impressive as the house is its setting. The house sits on a bluff overlooking a large valley and hills with very few signs of human activity. It's highly secluded, on a large piece of land, so you feel like you have this whole beautiful landscape to yourself. The house's outdoor space includes large covered verandas, a beautiful pool with its own shaded spot for lounging, another deck with a hot tub and lots of seating. All in all, a perfect spot for a getaway with family or close friends. Great spot to relax, cook, swim, take in the sunsets, hike, etc. We're already looking forward to returning!

    Will2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a secluded retreat to settle into, this is the place. We never left and wished we'd had one more day to relax even more than we did and enjoy the views and hammocks and pool. The house is well-appointed and has everything you'll need if you're into cooking great food and sharing meals with friends. The hot tub and pool are great, plus there are plenty of places to lounge and relax with friends or family. We also enjoyed a relatively easy hike down to the creek. Wish we'd had more time to find the mine!

Welcome to Maybelle Acres, our four-bedroom vintage mid-century modern home with sweeping valley views on nine acres. Quiet yet only 5-15 miles from Murphys, Angels Camp, Arnold, and Sonora. Surrounded by oak trees, barn, apple orchard and filled with opportunities for sunset watching and fire pit time. Fully stocked kitchen perfect for cooking with family and friends.
Welcome to Maybelle Acres. We're Steph and Matt Hamilton and LeighAnna MacFadden--old friends who recently bought this beautiful four-bedroom house on nine acres as a mountain escape. We've been fixing it up and filling it with our favorite vintage modern furniture. Kitchen is fully stocked with cook and baking ware, spices, and dishes. Panoramic view sunroom includes a full dining area that seats 8-10, TV nook for streaming or watching DVDs, and a desk nook for painting or reading. Upstairs kitchen opens up into living room with valley views and gas fireplace, sunroom/dining room/TV room, and two bedrooms. Downstairs is a large den with views and a wood fireplace, two bedrooms, and a second bath. House includes a laundry room, and plenty of space to park in front of the barn and garage. Stroll outside along the path past our barn, and watch the sun set over the small orchard. There are two vintage trailers on the property--an Airstream and Kit Companion. We're working on getting them set up for our own use--if you are interested in renting them for extra sleeping quarters, feel free to inquire.
Near Murphys, Arnold, Sonora, Angels Camp and 45 minutes from Bear Valley. 5 miles from downtown Murphys, 15 minutes from Sonora and Angel's Camp, and 45 minutes from Bear Valley ski area. Maybelle Acres is on nine acres along Parrotts Ferry road--Moaning Cavern and the Stanislaus River reservoir bridge are just down the road with hiking and biking trails.
  • This beautiful home is perfectly perched on a hill between Murphy's and Angels Camp. It somehow manages to be a secluded oasis while offering close proximity to the gold rush, wine tasting charms of the region (Murphys, Angels Camp, Senora and Arnold ) After a day of wine tasting and socializing in Murphy's, I walked around the nine acres on the ranch, drank a beer in the barn and made a meal in the kitchen. I listened to records on the great sounding stereo and enjoyed the view of the sun setting in the gold country. This place would be the best for friends and family - to enjoy some time together, drink great wine, make great food and truly enjoy this home and it's land !

    Jason2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house is incredible and the land is great. Close enough to everything but also secluded. It is a great place.

    Colin2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Maybelle Acres. The house and property are great. The host was very accommodating. The house is very large. 4 bedrooms and three large rooms to hang out in. There were only 3 of us and we only used the main floor. The next time we go back we will take a larger group!

    Roberta2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderfully updated spacious home with room to sleep a whole bunch of kids and adults comfortably. It's perched on top of a beautiful private nine-acre hill with views of the neighboring valley. The house has everything you might need for making some big shared meals or just chilling out by the fire pit at night. And it's GREAT for kids, who can run about in the adjacent field. The area is not much farther from the Bay Area than wine country (Napa/Sonoma), but so much more undiscovered and full of charm. And there are even some wineries to visit near by. Well worth a visit. We had a great time!

    Emily2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at LeighAnna's home on the hill. The sunsets were beautiful, centrally located and close to Murphys and Angels Camp. The house was much larger then I realized and could very well hold more people very comfortably. The setting is very rustic and they are working on the property so much of the place had overgrown bushes but the house it self was perfect. Except you may want to know they that the home is earth friendly they recycle, use no paper products and has no Microwave. It truly was a step back in time. We loved the retro furnishings and the record player sounded better than any Boise speaker. Beds were new and comfortable but upstairs could use a few more mirrors as we were sharing the bathroom getting ready. We saw Boston at Ironstone and instead of going there through town we took the 6 mile road (back road to the venue). Part of the road is not paved but well worth not having to fight traffic through town after concert. When you get back to Hwy 4 turn left back to Angels camp and it is just up the road. The four winds winery is on the same road leading to Ironstone. Thank you for being available to answer all our questions. Would stay there again.

  • What a fabulous place. Excellent mid century modern house up on a hill with great views. Private location. Very peaceful, property was very well taken care of. Was ready to move right in! Will definitely be back! The host was superb as well. Very easy to communicate with and replied promptly.

  • This house is so amazing. It has great views of the mountain, and the view of the front yard when you wake up is just breathtaking. LeighAnna was a great host, very accommodating and easy to get ahold of. The instructions and directions for the house are so clear and easy to follow. My friend was having a wedding at the winery around the corner and this house was so convenient for us. I can’t wait to book this place again in the future!!

Enjoy our large but cozy cabin in the woods with all the modern amenities of home! In summer you can access the neighborhood pools and lake or the short hike or walk to Calaveras Big Trees State Park! Skiing, kayaking, mountain biking are all close by. Once back at the cabin the fun continues in the upstairs game room with Foosball, air hockey, PS4 , Wii, even a real slot machine! Downstairs has relaxing cabin charm with a cozy fire, lazy boy and a big picture window overlooking the tall pines.
Full kitchen with all amenities, flatware, cookware, table settings, stove, micro, coffee maker > free coffee / tea. Wood-burning stove, fully stocked firewood always keeps the cabin warm and toasty. HD flat screen entertainment area with free Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu streaming downstairs. The large deck overlooks majestic pines and is great for relaxing and going it unplugged, (you still have great wifi all around cabin if needed!). Two bedrooms on the main floor are great for couples and the 2 twin and 2 queen beds in the upstairs provide even more sleeping space for bigger families. The loft is an amazing game room with a full sized Foosball table, air-hockey table, PS4, Nintendo Wii and a real slots machine! (for fun only :) The sectional sofa there folds out also can provide additional sleeping for two.
Enjoy our large but cozy cabin in the tranquil Stanislaus National Forest with all the modern amenities of home! This cabin is part of the Blue Lakes Springs Recreational area. In the summer you can access the pools, lake and work out facilities. The cabin is also a short 2 block walk away from the amazing Calveras Big Trees State Park! The beautiful Sequoia Woods Country club is also just a few blocks away! Arnold is by far the best hidden secret of the Sierra's. There is skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling close by at the Bear Valley Ski resort all without the crowds of Tahoe. Our cabin sits right in the heart of it all and is a great base to experience the best the area has to offer! great restaurants, coffee, breakfast, wine, craft beers abound as well as the many out door activities the area has to offer.
  • What a wonderful stay! Don & Giselle’s place was perfect for our family - nice location in Blue Lake Springs, home has everything we needed and so much more (who doesn’t want a slot machine?!), and great communication. As a nice plus, the cleaning fee includes all linens and garbage which often isn’t the case for vacation rentals in Arnold. We’ll definitely be back, and highly recommend.

  • Great family cabin right by Arnold, CA. Very nice wooden cabin, with a real wood-burning stove. Great place to relax by the fire or do activities. Bear Valley ski resort is 40 minutes away and cabin's second floor is filled with game (fuss-ball, air hockey table, TV with PS4 and Wii. Many beds available in 3 different rooms. 2 bedrooms on the first level and 4 beds together upstairs. Cabin is easily accessible with paved road right up to the cabin. Good for 2-3 couples or a big family. I would recommend this place. The big amount of stairs was not an issue for us but if someone's disabled or can't easily go 3 flights of stairs it could be an issue.

    Thierry2017-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • My family spent Christmas at this cabin and had a wonderful time. The cabin is homey and charming, and set up perfectly for family time, with board games, air hockey and various gaming consoles. We had 6 people but could have easily had room to sleep more. The area is peaceful, quiet and surrounded by trees. Kitchen was stocked with kitchenware and some handy food basics like butter, tea, etc. There was a huge supply of firewood for their wood burning stove. The hosts surprised us by putting up Christmas lights before we got there - super lovely touch! We did have a couple problems with our stay, but our hosts were very responsive. The oven is old and small, so future guests might want to be mindful of meal plans (ex: our giant lasagna pan did not fit). There was also a problem with the hot water and heat, which unfortunately couldn't be solved because it was a holiday and maintenance services were closed. However, the hosts were super apologetic and issued a partial refund. I believe if it hadn't been a holiday, they would have solved the problem the same day. I would stay here again!

    Rae2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful cabin! We really enjoyed our stay here, it is beautiful, as pictured, and the hosts are fantastic. The cabin is well designed for folks to be able to really enjoy their time together--from the open plan living room/kitchen/dining to the large deck, to the fun room upstairs. I'm looking forward to coming again with my family; the adults and kids (and kid-like adults) will all find something here. The kitchen was very well stocked and we were able to cook as though we were at home. The cabin is full of cute rustic touches while still having everything modern you could need. Same with the location--you can immerse yourself in the woods and feel like you're far from civilization if you want, or take a quick trip to the store or restaurants. We were hesitant to visit this cabin as it was new on AirBnb, but we're really glad to have taken the leap and look forward to coming back. The host made us feel very welcome. Thanks for a great trip.
