Brimfield Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Brimfield

Relaxing space for anyone looking for a place of peace to write, or get away for a night or more. Queen bed, cold running water at sink, private bthrm 25ft to house from cabin, heat in ceiling fan, AC. Sun porch faces South, main room 11 ft. ceiling.
Beach across the street at the lake. Bring your kayaks or canoe and bathing suit or fishing pole!! There is also a nice steak and seafood restaurant directly across from the beach Russo's Steak and Seafood and a wonderful ice cream bar drive up with full menu just down the road toward RT 32 about 1/10 of a mile called Rondeau's Dairy Bar
I love my Lake across the street. It changes every day with the weather. Full moons are awesome to behold on the clear nights! Also the privacy in the back pond gives me all the nature I could ask for to watch day in and day out! In the spring and summer I love listening to the tree frogs and peepers! I am close to the main road of Rt. 32 and the Mass Turn Pike is only 5 mins away.
  • Very charming little cabin on owner's property across from a pretty little lake. Easy to get to by car and a close drive to center of town. Very clean and Lori was extremely gracious and generous with snacks, water, breakfast items and coffee. There is no toilet and no hot water in the cabin (yet) but you have very close, private access to the main house to use a full bathroom. We enjoyed our stay there very much.

  • Great space and place. I loved the nature sounds of the bull frogs and scene of lake across from cabin. Lori and Sal were great. Finally got to chat as I was constantly on the go but they are both awesome and very friendly. ..welcoming. I would recommend a visit to Lori's. I hope to return and get a morning swim and sit around the fire and shares stories with Lori and sal.

  • Lori's cabin is really quite adorable, and located in a peaceful area. My only suggestion is that you read the description carefully and understand: it's very small; the bathroom is not attached, it is inside Lori's home; Lori lives only a few steps away and prefers to meet you in the daylight and show you around. These are not criticisms, they are to make you aware that if you want little or no contact and the ability to blow in late and out early this might not suit your needs. Otherwise, it's great!

    Geoff2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lori was a great host. Her and my girlfriend talked about vibes and energy and she even gave us some white sage to smudge in our cabin, she also let us borrow a bowl that was very special to her to hold our sage. She was very accommodating to us and did not bother us one bit. She assisted us with starting a fire in her backyard facing the lake as well it was just what we needed. We plan on visiting again sooner than later. Thanks for everything Ms.Lori !!!

    Jalisa2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lori was an exemplary host. I sent her a very last minute request which she accepted before going above and beyond the duties of a host. She was there upon my arrival and gave me a thorough tour of her property and the restored cabin that I stayed in. She was welcoming and kind and the space is great for anyone seeking silence and solitude on the back roads of Massachusetts. I would highly recommend staying with Lori.

  • This is the second time staying at Lori's and I still love it. Lori is so nice and communicative! Me and a friend had to come in late and she was very accommodating. The cottage is very cute and comfortable. The bathroom is about 20 feet away in the house, but is private as she locks off that area. The views from the cottage are wonderful, and the patio area is somewhere to just hang out. Very close to Palmer Motorsports Park if you're going there. I highly recommend!

    Justin2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place! Had a quick overnight trip and Lori was very accommodating.

    Michelle2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lori is the best! She is kind courteous, helpful and fun! Her cabin is the perfect get away and really helped us relax and enjoy our trip away. Everything was neat, and well put together. We had a blast sitting out by the fire pit and we loved all of the personal touches and amenities available. We will definitely be visiting again! Thank you for everything Lori :)

  • A " little slice of Heaven"....the pictures of the area and the cottage do not do it justice. Tom and Shannon's home was immaculate and had everything you may need. On a beautiful Fall New England weekend, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The lake was beautiful under the Hunter's Full Moon. Peaceful, tranquil yet very fun. Tom and Shannon are the perfect host and more important just super nice and couldn't do enough to make this the perfect get away. Hope to go back this summer!

  • I chose this place because it's located between Boston where we wanted to spend a couple of days and college that we had to visit as well; also price was good for number of beds and bedrooms we needed, and the dog was welcome. When we arrived, I found a lot of bonuses which were not actually on my list of priorities. Amazingly beautiful lake - and view from the windows; every single detail was taken care of - from salt, sugar, coffee, oil... to the dog bed, additional towels to clean the dog's paws; unlocked door so we wouldn't have to struggle with a box in darkness - the hostess sent us several texts with some details. And as a "final bonus" we were allowed to stay some extra time, without extra charge. Thank you!

    Marina2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Better than expected! Lake with walk in access and dock right in the backyard, fantastic retreat. Seamless arrival. Tom and Shannon are great hosts! The house was clean,we had everything we needed. Shannon was even nice enough to turn on the a.c. for our arrival on an especially humid day. They were there for any questions and even took us on a boat ride! But also were also conscientious about wanting to give us privacy. The place is dog friendly it was great to bring our pup! They have two adorable dogs too. Highly recommend see you next year!

    Steph2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tom and Shannon have created such a lovely getaway! My kids absolutely LOVED the peddle-boat. They peddled themselves around the pond for hours. The home has been very thoughtfully decorated and put together to create the perfect lakeside experience. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Tom and Shannon made us feel very welcome. We are already planning on returning on our next trip to MA!

    Deborah2016-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I loved the lake house! The house was clean and ready for my stay. Everything I needed was there except my food and personal items. The lake and surounding scenery were beautiful. Very relaxing. A quiet area which I really enjoyed, particularly not having any traffic noise. Being able to take out the row boat, with a trolling motor, was a real treat and allowed me to explore much of the lake. The lake water is crystal clear, you can see the fish swimming by. I highly recommend a stay here if you are in their area. I would definitely stsy here again.

    Richard2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice time in the Brimfield cottage. It was just the right size for the 6 of us. Had a fully equipped kitchen, large bedrooms and the use of the lake and boats was an added bonus. The hosts were very accommodating and yet not "in our faces" since they are next door. We would return and would recommend to others.

    Susan2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is an awesome little house. The lake is so relaxing. Our granddaughter had the best time.

    Linda2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Host offered great communication and easy directions for access to the place. The furnishings were cozy, and much thought was given to many of the amenities. Really nice, thanks!

  • Sheila's home was much larger than we expected and very comfortable. We'll very probably rent from her again.

    Karen2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, cute, and convenient; we couldn't have been more pleased. The house had beautiful views out the back. Sheila was a wonderful host. She was easy to reach, very responsive, but not at all intrusive. We really appreciated the treats she left, and the voice responsive computer was a great help finding our way around. The location was perfect, the beds were comfortable, and the showers especially appreciated after spending long days shopping at nearby Brimfield!

    Dawn2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • The four of us stayed for a night. Wonderful location and cozy house. Lots of room so people can find their own space for some privacy or congregate for conversations. We would certainly stay there again.

  • Sheila was a wonderful host who was very accommodating while providing a warm and welcoming stay. All details were exact as she explained and decor was cozy and very comfortable. Nice warm touches with coffee and donuts also! Would definitely stay again!

We would love to have you stay at our home. It is close to family-friendly activities, the airport, and the 3 largest cities in MA. Approximately one hour from both Logan International and Bradley International Airports. Also 5 minutes from Old Sturbridge Village and the Brimfield Antique and Collectibles Show. You’ll love it here because of the coziness, the location, and the serenity. It would be for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
The space would best be described as an in-law unit. It is essentially 3 rooms with the bedroom and then the living room and kitchenette. It also includes a private bathroom with shower. The bed is full size bed but should having to sleep separately be an issue, your guest can accommodate a fouton in the living room. This walk-out basement "apartment" is conveniently stocked with the simple things to make your stay more enjoyable. A microwave, mini-fridge and coffee pot will help with additional food meals not provided by us (you will love our complimentary breakfast). We have awesome restaurants in Sturbridge but it is nice to have the ability to make extra snacks, store drinks etc. The private bathroom is just a few steps away on the same level. It also has a private patio should you like to sit outside. This would be a nice place to smoke if you happen to be a smoker.
We live in a development but here in Brimfield we have an acre and a half minimum requirement for building homes so we have plenty of privacy. In addition this neighborhood is made up of colonial reproductions so is quite unique.
  • Tucked away in a great natural setting with a private suite, and all the amenities...Nicole's place is the perfect spot to relax after a long drive,...or if you want to enjoy Sturbridge. Interesting antique shops, restaurants, boating...all minutes away.

    Daniel2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem: a spotless ground floor one bedroom apartment with a separate entrance, that is part of a beautiful house, in a bucolic, quiet setting, and hosted by a wonderful couple. The apartment includes a bedroom; a bathroom; a living room (with internet access, cable TV, a DVR, a futon, and two recliners); and an eating area with a fridge, a table, two chairs, and a microwave. Plus it all looks out on an enormous (fenced in) back yard surrounded by woods in which some very lucky pet chickens roam free. The whole experience was above and beyond our expectations, and we really appreciated the home cooked breakfast and conversation as an awesome way to start the day. My advice - stay here and be very pleasantly surprised.

    Lorraine2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Nicole's place. She was friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was delicious and we loved our rooms - so private and such a great view of the trees and the animals. A great experience!

    Cath2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience at Rom & Nicole's place was the stuff of fairytales. Yes, all of the basics were covered: cleanliness, attentiveness, communication, privacy, etc. BUT, the magic here is the property. Their house is not far from civilization and yet nestled completely in the wilderness. They have chickens, goats and an elusive rabbit on the premises. They cooked us a breakfast worthy of kings; eggs from their chickens, bacon from pigs that they raised (!!), etc etc. And the hosts themselves were just as whimsical. (Nicole is a professional clown? Amazing.) We'll be staying with them again, undoubtedly.

    Travis2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Nicole communicated clear directions and was there to meet us when we checked in. The place was clean and had instructions for anything we needed.

    Courtland2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Nicole and Dom were wonderful hosts. We checked in around 330 and they were home to welcome us and give us lots of info on the area with great suggestions for things to do. Their property is so beautiful, relaxing and very well kept. The guest area is very spacious and they provide games and snacks for you. We felt right at home. Nicole was such a sweetheart, she made us breakfast in the morning and shared fun stories about her travels. It was such a pleasure getting to know Nicole and Dom and we would love to go back again.

    Meag2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Nicole has a stunning home in a beautiful area! This is a real gem, and not to be missed if you are anywhere nearby. The accommodation and facilities are excellent, with many touches to make your stay extra special. We were offered a variety of choices for breakfast, and we enjoyed a delicious home-cooked meal. Nicole is a great host, and made us feel very welcome. We would love to go back for a longer stay.

    David2017-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time staying at Nicole's place. You basically have an entire apartment at your disposal which was a pleasant surprise! We had a fun time seeing the chickens & goats on their well kept land. They offer snacks in the living room, Nintendo, DVD's, coffee & breakfast in the morning which was also a lovely offer. My boyfriend & I both said we wished we could have stayed for more than just one night & that we'd definitely come back if in the neighborhood again.

  • This was a great stay because Robin was so helpful. My friend and I needed a place to crash and we didn't message Robin until about 6pm. She gave us the room that late in the day, even knowing we wouldn't arrive until 9pm. When we showed up, she was awake to show us our room and the bathroom, and give us the run of the kitchen. She was a great hostess and the beds were comfortable!

    Max2015-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable accommodations. Thanks for hosting.

    Travis2015-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Farmer's paradise is correct, there are a few extremely friendly goats and chickens grazing the property. It's a bit surreal. The option to purchase farm fresh eggs is an added bonus. So close to Brimfild, was perfect.

  • It was perfect. We were traveling and needed a place to sleep on our way and Robin was very accommodating with our late arrival. Thank you!

    Mark2014-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Robin is extremely friendly, honest and helpful and this was a great place location for the Brimfield Flea. (It is exactly 1 mile--I walked it, though with all the walking at the fleas, it can seem a bit far!) If you are expecting a hotel atmosphere, this is not it--there are 2 young boys and lots of animals, parents that work full-time, so expect a bit of family chaos/noise. There is some noise/light that leaks in from the kitchen in this room and early risers, but should be fine if you want to hit the fleas early! The tables/dressers in the room were pretty dusty, but wet wipes and clean towels were provided. Bathrooms are shared, room doors do not lock, but it is charming--goats, chickens, ducks, cat, dogs and a nice front porch & beautiful kitchen area.

We are just minutes from the Mass Pike & Route 84 in rural Brookfield near historic Old Sturbridge Village, multiple apple orchards and lots of antique venues. If you want a getaway spot to relax or a place to stop while in route this place is perfect.
Apartment Attached to the Main House Accommodates 3 Bedrooms 1 (Queen Bed Sleeps 2) Living Room Couch (Sleeps 1, you may bring your own air mattress) Bathroom 1 (Shower) Open Kitchen & Living Room Lots of Storage Space Outside Patio Space Separate Entrance Lots of Parking Space The apartment was built as an in-law suite and is attached to the main house. The owners live in the main house which was built with stone from the property in 1964. It's a beautiful rural setting close to shops and restaurants and yet just as close to orchards and ponds.
We have lived in this house for over 25 years. We have raised our boys here so it's definitely home. We love the small town atmosphere and being part of the community. Someone described the area as being in the middle of 'no where' with people.
  • It was an awesome experience and stay. It was exactly what we thought it would be.

    James2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Terri's for one night on my way down to NJ from Maine. I did come in after dark, and it was winter so I did not get to see much driving in. It is a perfect location from rt. 84, I was able to get off, stay the night and get rest before completing my journey. This was a last minute decision for me and Terri was good enough to respond quickly. The apartment was very clean and organized. It is in a quiet neighborhood, and you could not hear anything from Terri's side of the house. There is a private entrance and a kitchen. I had food with me, and this worked out well. The sitting area is comfortable with a big couch and rocking chair. Netflix is available on the T.V. and that was good enough for me since I am considering cutting the cord at my own home. Wifi is available. I plan to stay here again since I travel rt. 84 frequently, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Sturbridge.

    karen2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • This spacious apartment exceeded all expectations. It is the cleanest place I've ever stayed anywhere! Terri has thoughtfully supplied every amenity you could want in the kitchen. The towels are generously sized, thick and super soft, as are the sheets and quilt. The Roku with Netflix is a nice touch. You're 5 minutes from Main St. in Sturbridge with every type of dining option. Driving from Ohio to Cape Cod, it was especially nice to leave my fully packed car safe and secure in the driveway without the need to unpack it all. I can't say enough about this place!!

  • I stumbled upon the exquisite experience of “Kimberly” while searching for a location to host an executive planning retreat for my three senior vice presidents and me. My search began in a more traditional fashion reviewing countless hotels and conference centers in the Sturbridge area, but nothing met my needs the way Kimberly's beautiful home did! For starters, we rented the entire house for about the same per person cost as renting individual hotel rooms. In Kimberly's home, she was most gracious in negotiating our check-in and check-out times, which allowed us the entire next day to conduct our semi-annual planning exercises. The accommodations themselves were magnificent: each room beautifully appointed and sparkling clean, the beds comfortable, the linens crisp and fresh smelling. The common areas were spacious, comfortable and laid out in a way that encouraged interaction and had plenty of spaces for break-out sessions, contemplation and discussion. When she and I first discussed the plan, Kimberly graciously offered to “cater” our meals so that we would not have to eat out for every meal. Upon check-in the first night, Kimberly had an assortment of lovely appetizers, cheese/crackers, hot spinach dip and more. We dined out for dinner that night (a restaurant Kimberly had done well to recommend!). The next morning we were greeted with the smell of fresh coffee, omelets, sausage, fresh fruit and homemade pumpkin bread. Delicious! For lunch she served us homemade chili, Spanish rice and homemade apple pie pulled from the oven that very morning. Everything was tasty, perfectly prepared, and presented table side with a style that would cause Martha Stewart to take notice. After my three staff had left upon conclusion of a highly successful planning retreat, Kimberly asked me to tell her honestly whether her presence in the kitchen had bothered us or had been a distraction over the course of our day. I told Kimberly that on the contrary, hearing her cook and fuss in the kitchen felt somehow comforting…nourishing…nurturing because we knew she was doing it all for us. Kimberly, thank you for making our business event feel like we were home with family. We all had a wonderful time and hope to return again in the near future!

We were a little disappointed that the bed wasn't ready for us when we got there at 6:00, but she said she thought we were going out to dinner. We didn't really mind making it ourselves. She had gone out to buy me an iron, which I appreciated, but I couldn't find a hair dryer. There's a lot of personal stuff still in the drawers and closet, which might bother some people. The bed itself was comfortable. We were able to walk to a Japanese restaurant, which was convenient. When I asked her for towels, she put some out. I think Sandra is new to this and we wish her luck.

  • Sandra was very thoughtful and the house was amazing! I would definitely stay again if I’m back that way. Thanks Sandra

  • A lovely restful place with a fun and friendly dog, Cooper. The hosts were also very helpful with advise about the Brimfield Antique Fair. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

  • Beth and Dave have a beautiful home, very close to the Brimfield Antique Show. It is not walking distance, but a very short ride. Cooper the dog was very sweet. The mattresses were excellent, and everything scrupulously clean. A lovely breakfast of berries and muffins was included; I don't know if they do this for all guests or if we were special. ;-) Thanks for a comfortable stay.

    Jen2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hosts, extremely comfortable beds with charming decor in a beautiful home, minutes from the Brimfield fairs. We received the best hospitality from Dave and Beth. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit with them, breakfast, and of course their sweet and friendly dog. We will definitely return!

  • Upon arriving, Beth, Dave (& Cooper -their loyal lab) welcomed us to their lovely home. Communication before, during, and after our stay, either by text, written note or email/etc., was fabulous. Beth had coffee, fruit, muffins, cereal, & yogurt ready each morning and both her and Dave were very helpful with tips/directions to the fair. A beautiful property and perfect setting for what we needed. Will definately stay again when in the area. Thank you!

    Lisa2016-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a pretty house -it wasn't pictured in the listing so I was surprised at what a gorgeous home it turned out to be. it was like a mile or two from the first field at Brimfield antique show so it was super easy. I avoided all the Brimfield traffic which was great. The room was just as pictured - very clean and cozy with a shared bathroom right next door. The hosts dave and beth were lovely. Beth gave me some great recommendations for dinner spots near by. They had coffee ready early in the am for me to take with, and also fresh fruit and water to take out for the day. I would definitely stay here again (I might book for July?!) and recommend it to anyone who needs a nice and easy place to stay.

  • This was my first Air BNB experience and really set the stage. Cathy was so welcoming after we spent a long day at the Brimfield Antiques Show. She greeted us as soon as we arrived. The house was immaculate and the fridge was stocked with anything your heart could desire for breakfast. She even baked bread and muffins that were out of this world and left a vase of fresh flowers. We will certainly be returning for a weekend even if the Antiques Show isn't taking place for a quick getaway and view of the lake. If you are going to be in the area for the Show, this is only an easy 5-minute drive.

  • We had lovely time. The place was more than we expected. Beautiful, spacious, and very clean. We would love to stay back there if are ever in that area again. We would recommend this place to anyone. Cathy made us feel right at home.

  • We spent a wonderful weekend at Cathy's and Ernie's lake house. It was far beyond our expectations! The hosts gave us the ever warmest welcome and anticipated all our wishes. We felt so much at home! It was an unforgettable experience. We wish we could come again!

    Alexander2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We have to say that Cathy and Ernie's Carriage House has set the gold standard for our Airbnb experience! When we pulled into the driveway, Cathy came out to greet us and walked us through the cottage which was just as described and more so! It is a very beautiful, comfortable space and the design thoughtfully planned. They have provided everything a guest could need including comfortable seating, two coffee makers [a Keurig as well], beautifully appointed furnishings, comfortable beds, an open space and a deck with a beautiful view of the lake. Cathy went above and beyond by providing us with delicious homemade scones, tea bread, butter, jam, etc. We saw Ernie briefly, but Cathy was the perfect host...warm, welcoming and thoughtful. We had a delightful stay and only wish we had been there for a while longer. We highly recommend the Carriage House at the Lake. Lovely!!

  • The Carriage House on the Lake was a relaxing and entrancing place to recharge and reconnect in between family visits and site seeing. All went so well and our hosts made everything easy. The breakfasts were delightful and an unexpected treat!

  • The house was lovely, clean, and well appointed. The hosts were very welcoming, and clearly put a lot of effort into doing little things to make the stay more pleasant. They provided an abundance of breakfast foods which we thoroughly enjoyed. The property and the lake are beautiful. We hope we will be able to come back when the weather is warmer :-)

    Bethany2016-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Their place is just brilliant! Very comfortable and great to relax/unwind no matter how tired you are. To top it all Cathy is such a warm and welcoming host. Will be back!

  • Beautiful place. Catherine was a great host, everything was great about this Airbnb experience. Hope to have the opportunity to stay here again in the future.

  • Catherine and Ray's home was the unexpected high point of our trip to Brimfield! It was a scenic, but short drive away from the busy main drag, and truly a place to recover from a hard day. Catherine and Ray were welcoming and charming, and at the same time left us time to explore their little farm alone. To top it off was an amazing breakfast each day - 100% to recommend - we hope to see them again!

    Marsha2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Lookout Suite is absolutely lovely! It is a large space, beautifully designed and decorated, really comfortable and very private. Catherine and Ray were great hosts. They gave us lots of tips about local restaurants and good hiking spots in the area. Breakfast was amazing. Omelets, pancakes, freshly baked zucchini bread, and most of the ingredients came from their organic farm. We left with vegetables from their gardens, eggs from their chickens, and honey from their bees! We are looking forward to our next visit!

    Kate2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • I was in town for the Brimfield Antique Show and decided on a whim to stay an extra night. Thankfully Catherine's Lookout Suite was available on AirBnB. She communicated quickly and we were able to make a plan for that same evening. The property is, as promised, quiet and lovely, situated in beautiful countryside. The room was immaculately clean, separated from the main house for quiet and privacy. They were thoughtful about the details of my stay and I felt welcome. They even sent me off with a fantastic homemade muffin the next morning. I would definitely stay again. (As opposed to my experience at the other AirBnB rental in town - see separate review.)

    Liz2016-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine and Ray could not have made our (sadly) short visit more enjoyable. We arrived later than anticipated and Catherine's kindness in making a meal for us will be a treasured memory. Really beautiful room and a superb breakfast. It was super to wander around their kand with Catherine and learn of all the work they have put into their beautiful home. They are really living the "good life" . We will remember the visit with pleasure when home when having our honey on toast. Many thanks for a short but super stay.

  • We loved staying with Catherine and Ray. My teenage daughter and I were in the area to attend the Brimfield Antique Show. The room was spacious and comfortable, with nice amenities like a coffee machine, mini-fridge, and drinks/fruit. Catherine spent tons of time with us, patiently indulging our delight in and curiosity about her farm (we got to hold a chicken!). My daughter loved playing with the dogs, especially the puppy. Breakfast was top-notch, and I am still thinking about the exquisite sourdough bread made by Ray. We hope to return next time we go to the antique show.

    Jen2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay with Ray and Catherine. They made me feel welcome in their home, and the description, pictures don't do justice to the peaceful setting that they have. Breakfast was especially nice with Catherine's cooking and Ray's great bread . If I get back that way, I will certainly stay with them again.

    Mark2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Relaxing and peaceful. A nice reset from our city lives. Catherine and her husband couldn't have been more nice and accommodating. It was obvious they really care about their guests. And if you play your cards right, they might let you hold a chicken...the highlight of the trip for my wife!

This rustic lakefront cottage has beautiful views of the Big Alum Lake, a full kitchen, comfy living room, and plenty of space for the whole family. Make summer memories that will last a lifetime in our family's lake house. Big Alum Lake is spring-fed and offers great swimming, boating, and fishing (URL HIDDEN) And it's just ten minutes to historic OSV (Old Sturbridge Village), great dining, antique and quaint New England shops, and all necessities.
The house sleeps up to eight people. One bedroom features one queen bed and one full bed. The second bedroom has a bunk bed and two twin beds (perfect for the kids or big families!). The house has a bathroom with a stand-up shower. A galley kitchen features a sink, gas stove and oven, a microwave, and a full refrigerator. The kitchen leads into a dining area and living room with big, comfortable couches, rocking chairs, and picturesque views of the tranquil Big Alum lake. Their is a landline telephone, cable TV, and WiFi, all provided by Spectrum. There is no air conditioning. But there are lots of windows and the cottage is usually cool and comfortable. There is no heat of any kind in the cottage. It can be rented into the fall, but understand that the nights will be chilly and blankets will be needed. If you are the camping type, fall nights in this cottage are great! Outside, a dock and lake-front yard provide a great place to lounge in the sun or shade, and steps into the lake allow the whole family to wade or swim in shallow water by the shore, or easily go out deeper. Well behaved family dogs are welcome!
The Big Alum Lake is a charming and quiet "great pond" with many families along its shores. During the day, you can expect some jet skis and motor boats, but for the most part, people on the lake use kayaks and canoes. You can expect boaters to greet you with a smile and wave as they go by, and neighbors welcome as much or as little interactions as you'd prefer. If you're lucky, you might even spot the the lake's sea plane as it takes off and lands on the water. There is a great orchard and brewery just a ten minute walk down the road. The facility has farm animals to visit and a disc golf course.
  • The cottage is lovely. The lake is beautiful. Sue communicated well and went out of her way to make our stay comfortable.

    Jo2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our family loved this little cozy lake house. It was perfect and affordable enough for a quick getaway from the daily grind. There are plenty of beds to invite close friends or family to join. We appreciated Sue's great communication and information given ahead of time. It is a basic enough lake house to be more comfortable than camping but not too fancy to be overwhelming for traveling with children. The children (ages 4-7) were thrilled and enjoyed their stay immensely. Thanks, Sue!

    Yamini Jagannath2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • I cant say enough good things about this lake house. We are a family of 6 (plus 1 dog) and we had a blast. The worst part of our stay was that it was too short. The house was rustic, but very comfortable with plenty of rooms and beds for us. The beds were comfortable and the couches were too. The lake is pristine, CRYSTAL CLEAR and great for fishing and swimming. Probably the nicest lake I have ever been in. Neighbors were friendly, always returning a smile or a wave. Local restaurants were good and the brewery down the street was great. We picked this house for its location, pet friendly attitude and price. All together it was a GREAT value and we had an amazing time. The goal of our stay was to relax, fish and swim. For three full days that is all we did and everyone was sad to go home. Awesome place and Susan was very, very easy to deal with. I would absolutely come back and would book more days.

    keith2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little cottage on one of my favorite lakes. Plenty of room for family and friends to come over and BBQ. It also has a doc for the boat. We would definitely stay here again.

    Dana2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was great to work with. Extreamly fast and responsive to email or any questions I had. Would use again!

    Richard2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Big Alum has the cleanest, clearest water for swimming/water sports in the area. The cottage easily sleeps 8 and has great parking. Also a nice easy grade to the water (no steep incline). Be sure to bring in your own water for drinking/cooking as the water in the sinks/shower comes directly from the lake. There is no air conditioning; on hot days better to cook outside. Also good to bring mosquito spray - to be expected there are a lot of mosquitoes at night. If you are good swimmers, swim down to the yellow buoy to the right. There is a big rock under water there that kids like to stand on. Two food recommendations: Howard's for ice cream and Dresser Hill (Clam Box) for seafood and ice cream!

    Carlene2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nice old house just few steps to lake. Quite and lovely place. Clear water in lake and fresh air in forest this is what you need for swimming, fishing and complete relax. House is close to main highway, Walmart, Stop and Shop, plenty small café and restaurants just 5 min to drive. We realy enjoed this 7 days of vacation (better to have 10 days). Possible will rent this place again later on.

We really enjoy taking our breakfast with this wonderful view. Just one thing which surprised us was the noise from this highway, which is really close to the house. Hopefully, you get used to. Thank you Leah for this really nice time in your house.

  • The house was the perfect size for us. Our son loved the second TV in the bedroom so he could watch what he wanted on TV at night. Leah had towels if you needed and linens were provided which was really nice. The kitchen is small, but had everything we needed, including a Kurig machine. The water a really clean in the pond, but a little mucky on the bottom, but that is what happens in a lake or pond. Overall great stay and will probably book again.

  • We felt at home in Cathy's lovely rustic cabin by a beautiful lake. Cathy was there to greet us when we arrived and immeditly we felt right at home. She left us plenty of supplies milk, bread home made delicious brownies, eggs and fresh fruit. She had a wealth of knowledge of the local area advising us of local walks etc and was only a plone call away. Very close to Brimfield antique fair, without the massive issues associated with Brimfield Sturgridge route. Thanks Cathy for you wonderfull hospitality. Kathy

  • We had such a great time at the cottage. Cathy and Leif were very welcoming and accessible, and gave us a lot of suggestions on things to do in the area. They even left out fresh blackberries, chocolates, and flowers when we arrived! The cottage was very clean and exactly as described in the pictures. We were able to use the canoe and kayaks at the cottage to go out on the lake and fish. This was the perfect place to relax! The location was great, we were able to walk to the lake and spend the day there. We will definitely be staying here again!

  • Not only were Leif and Catherine friendly, gracious, and in-touch hosts, but the photos of their lovely place do not even do it justice. Anything we could have needed was already there, from extra towels to bug spray to plenty of board games, and the cottage itself is a dream. We had the most relaxing and laid back stay. The beds are super comfortable and the outdoor shower, solar lights, and added touches by Leif and Catherine make you feel like a truly valued guest. It's rustic but also has some lovely modern touches.

My place is great for a quiet getaway. Safe for children off the main road with 3 wooded acres of land. Great for hiking, with a lake less than a half mile away. This home is an hour from Boston, Hartford, and The Berkshires. It is 15 minutes from Sturbrigde, which is a great place for shops, antiques and restaurants.
  • Cabin was beautiful, clean and very inviting. Sandra and her Husband are very nice, friendly, attentive and kind. She was accommodating and just a text away. Can't wait until we see them again in the winter god willing. We have found our home away from home. Thank you again Sandra for everything.

  • Truly a log cabin, with wooden character throughout the place giving it a distinct charm. All the areas are super clean, and up-to date. It's secluded but not too far from neighbors or the towns so it's a perfect middle ground- quiet and peaceful!

    Dino2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I chose this place because it was secluded and quiet. Neighbors aren't too close but it was also pretty easy to get to. The home is a beautiful log cabin that looks just like the pictures. The home was very clean and Sandra left us condiments to use as well as a lovely blueberry bunt cake! If you're looking for a weekend away from the city and noise, this is the perfect place!

  • Sandra and her husband were very gracious to turn over their cabin to us and were available if we needed anything. The cabin is definitely cozy (yet very open and well lit with natural lighting) inside and out and well-furnished. The porch (which wraps around on three sides and can be accessed by numerous screen doors) adds to the inside-outside blending that made the cabin so very livable. It was a home away from home! We used the cabin as a base to hike sections of the New England Trail, visit Old Sturbridge Village outdoor museum, hike & bike trails in Sturbridge, and walk through the Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary.

    Karen2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect two night stay at Sandra's cabin home. The description was accurate but the home and property exceeded our expectations. It's a beautiful and serene place, nestled in the trees with quiet and privacy, although it had all the modern comforts one could need. It was incredibly clean, bright, and airy while charmingly rustic outside. We took a great walk through the 3 miles of the Norcross reserve (a 7 minute drive), found a market/farm stand and liquor store close by (10 min drive), and spent most of the time using the kitchen (providing everything needed to cook and a modern dishwasher), and dining or reading on the deck. Deer, chipmunks, and a massive hawk all approached the lawn around the house while we were sitting out. Great place to bring binoculars and enjoy nature, but also just a really cool and comfortable spot to call home for a few nights. Will definitely return.

  • Outstanding in everyway.Host was extremely accomadating and helpful in every way...5 stars all the way for Sandra.

  • WOW !! We absolutely loved this cozy cabin in the woods, like other reviews the pictures don't do this house justice. The space was spectacular in every way. Right from the minute we drove up and opened the door we knew that it would be hard to leave ! It was cozy, and clean plus the serene location can not be beat ! We felt cocooned by the surrounding woods and the wrap around deck provided a much needed connection with nature. The home was equipped with everything needed for a relaxing vacation but mostly we enjoyed the homey feel and family photos. We are so grateful to our host for sharing this beautiful place and can tell how much she loves it too ! Sandra is by far the sweetest host we have ever had ! We texted back and forth all the way up until she knew we were settled in comfortably and then she respected our privacy ( actually missed talking with her and hope we will be able to meet next time ! ) To us Sandra and her cozy cabin in the woods is what AIRBNB is all about. A beautiful spot to spend time at that is affordable with a great host. What more could we ask for ? Simply perfect... Thank you Sandy , We will be back soon.

  • Sandra was a wonderful host - she was so accommodating of my crazy schedule, and made sure my partner and I were as comfortable as possible during our stay. The cabin is also gorgeous and conveniently located near plenty to do despite its rural location.

  • Hope Cottage was perfect for few days away from the city. Peaceful and quite its a nice place to relax. Carolyn left us few snake, nice bread and all what we need to do breakfast. It was a great experience. Thank you

  • If your looking for that quiet weekend getaway, this is the place. Everything you need to disconnect for a few days (but there is wifi). Easy lake access for fishing and kyacking local farmers markets are nearby (picked up some great local pork, squash, tomatoes abd blueberries, and the local watering hole, Wales Irish Pub, is good for a burger and beer. Hope Cottage and Carolyn provide you with all you need to sit back, relax and soak in the calm! Cottage was neat and clean. Nothing fancy, but that's fine by me. Be aware the shower is a little snug, but I'm a large guy. I will and already recommended this place to a few friends who are looking for a place to unwind.

  • Charming cottage just half a block from a peaceful lake with benches for sunset viewing or picnics. Carolyn kindly left breakfast fixings including fresh fruit. Great location for the brimfield show, only short drive on non busy roads. Shopping cart in cottage. Would recommend salem croft Inn for dinner...had both gluten free and vegetarian options. Thanks carolyn.

  • Exactly as described, great location right by the water and super quiet neighborhood. Breakfast and kayaks were a nice touch. Rustic feel to Hope cottage, will definitely keep in mind if we are to return to the area!

  • Lovely home with kayaks and about 20 feet from a gorgeous lake! Near a cute town for antiquing and about an hour twenty from Boston. Carolyn is gracious and welcoming and left us a basket of s'more supplies. The home is cozy with a backyard and rear closed in porch. All in all a great weekend!

    Elizabeth2014-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Hope Cottage. Carolyn was the perfect hostess - had everything ready for us including flannel sheets and fruit!! All our questions were answered promptly. It was a peaceful, cozy mini vacation and of course, even in December, the lake was beautiful.

    Jan2015-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We rented Carolyn's cottage for our trip down to the Brimfield Antique Show. It couldn't have been more cozy or more convenient. It's right next to a nice beach and lake and is, at most, a 10 minute drive from the show. Being so close it was easy for my girlfriend and I to get to the show early and get a jump on the crowds. As for the cottage, it was clean, comfortable and on a nice street lined with other nice cottages. Carolyn was a generous host and left us a nice welcome basket, as well. We'll definitely be looking to rent again.

  • the place was not clean at all , my room and bed sheets had dog hair and smell all over , i love dogs but one has to keep it clean , i had to ask her to give me a candle for my room which didn't do much either as it was everywhere , bathroom /kitchen everywhere ....you enter the house and it will smell bad i was in the area for work for which i had to be out by 5:30 - 6:00 am everyday but couldn't sleep because of this and was exhausted all day, although i had paid for all my 3 nights at Deborah's place and didn't wanted to get in a uncomfortable situation of confronting her with this issue , i decide to leave and got myself another place for my last night stay in the area . i understand Deborah may have a busy schedule but that shouldn't be the excuse for not keeping the place clean or writting stuff just to get a guest , the first day i found granola cereal on the kitchen counter but she should let people know that she only keeps Soy milk so the other person could make arrangements , there was nothing else for breakfast as she have elaborately described in her post ...she was out everyday by 5 am for her run or tranning her clients i will not recommend this place for someone who already have a busy schedule or not in a mood to babysit dog's ......

Our home is nestled on a rural road surrounded by woods and fields to walk, bike, hike or cross country ski. Relax or explore. Adventure is right out the door. The Brimfield Antique show is 5mins away and Tree House Brewery 15-20 mins away. Enjoy the modern relaxing interior.
Our home is unique, full of character, modern and clean. We have a country New England experience. Cook, laugh, relax, adventure and sleep peaceful!! As former NYC dwellers we brought style into the country. Perfect urban getaway!!! Refreshing and special rural experience and adventure without being too far from the city. High Speed Wifi internet to get business done while here enjoying some pleasure time. Hipster friendly and don't forget to swing on the rope swing or use the outdoor shower!!!
Our location is on a very rural country road that is ideal for walking and exploring. We are a quick drive to the local grocery store or highway Interstates 84/95/91 but completely engrossed in the New England landscape nestled in trees with a gorgeous field view across the street. When you sit quietly on the outdoor deck and patio the sounds of the birds, owls and crickets are like a harmony of peacefulness. Friendly community experience.
  • We stayed here the weekend of the Brimfield Antique Show in May, and I highly recommend Michele's place for other people interested in Brimfield! The location is perfect, just a 10-15 min drive from the show! And because this house is west of the show, we managed to avoid a lot of traffic heading east at the end of the day. On top of that, Michelle is a great host! She accommodated our late arrival Friday night and left a very helpful note with information about the house and the area as well as some wine and chocolate (which we definitely indulged in after a long day antiquing!). Her house is very clean and provides all the comforts of home as well as some fun extras like the rope swing and hiking trails. We didn't have a chance to use the bikes or kayaks, but the fact that they are provided for guest use makes this place a fun little country retreat!

    serena2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We wound up needing a place to stay in Massachusetts at the last minute, on our way to Maine, and we had our dog and two kids with us...not easy to find a place, right? But Airbnb to the rescue! Michelle, the host, made it easy and seamless. Her communication was quick and friendly. The house was ADORABLE and absolutely perfect for our needs. Warm, clean, inviting, and comfortable. She and her husband have great taste too, so it was an added bonus! The decor is really lovely. We were walking around the yard and discovered the outdoor shower! Who knew! It was awesome! Thank you!!!

    Deb2015-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very clean and very private. The little chickens and the big fireplace outside were nice. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and even more! It was easy from the start to the end.

Michele was such a gracious host providing everything we needed and more. Thank you for such a terrific experience!

Has large deck outside a high ceiling great room, one bedroom and bath, plus a lower level entry and boat storage room. The great room has comfortable chairs looking out on lake and trees, as well as kitchen appliances with a refrigerator, a freezer, and a compact washer-dryer. Internet connection and air conditioning are available. The bedroom has two convertible full size sofa beds (IKEA foam). The main room has a third convertible sofa bed. Off street parking is provided for two cars.
The Old Sturbridge Village and Brimfield Fair sites are close by, as well as hiking and nature trails, fishing spots, good restaurants, a golf course, and state parks. The lake permits water skiing and boating. A semiprivate beach for swimming is a short walk away, and also nearby is the boat ramp.
  • Both my wife and I are so happy we choose this place to stay! On so many levels we were impressed with this small home by the beautiful Hamilton Reservoir. It is a very quiet, somewhat private, and scenic location and yet not far from Sturbridge and Highways to get around. I had open and accessible communication with Lee from the start and we enjoyed getting to know both Lee and his wife as they made us feel at home! As well as by giving us a thoughtful tour of the completely remodeled house. They live close by and encouraged us to communicate any needs we might encounter. But it was not needed as the place had many modern accommodations and we'll stocked with necessities. As well as a small jar of home made jam they insisted we have and try. It comes with a large deck and shaded awning to be able to enjoy the view of the Reservoir. The place was very clean , and is all set for all the comforts of AC to several heating options as well. If one is into meditation or likes the quite then this place is for you. As the only noises were a few cars during the entire two days and some ducks in the distance were adding to this peaceful haven! Definitely plan on coming again!

Beautiful country setting, but close to major routes. Minutes from Old Sturbridge Village, Brimfield, many lakes, parks and trails; includes internet and local television. The home is more than 1600 square feet of livings pace over two floors. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths and one half bath. Three of the bedrooms have queens (one queen is a futon) and one bedroom has a single. The living room has a couch that pulls out to a queen and also a futon chair that pulls out to a child's bed. All of the bedrooms, the living room and dining room have ceiling fans. One full bathroom has a shower and is connected to the master bedroom. The other full bathroom has a tub and shower. The home boasts a formal dining room with a (nonworking) fireplace, a deck perfect for barbecuing and a smaller dining area that seats 4 and provides terrific views out the picture window. The home sits on a 1.5 acre wooded lot overlooking a pond. The area is very peaceful and quiet - although you are minutes from area attractions and major shopping centers.
Sturbridge is a quaint, quintessential New England town steeped in charm and history.
  • We stayed for a long weekend when a family wedding in Sturbridge brought us to town. Communication with Ladidas was prompt and accommodating throughout. The house was roomy, cozily decorated with lots of interesting art and perfect for our needs. Our four-year-old was particularly enthralled by the large stuffed animals in the room with the bunk beds....a lifesaver since we left her go-to stuffed animal at home my accident. There was very little traffic during our visit and it was pleasant to stroll around the snowy neighborhood. Would love to visit in the summer as well.

    Mandy2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Ladidas home was in nice proximity to Brimfield, and allowed for a short commute for the legendary Antique show. Ample space, and a nice location. The house, while as advertised in decor and amenities does need a little love and attention. Still, a nice stay.

    Josef & Sue2015-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ladidas was very quick to respond to any questions I had, both leading up to our stay and during. The house is great — big, charmingly decorated and nicely furnished. The description and photos exactly matched the property — although you really do need to see it in person to appreciate the surrounding countryside. It's exactly what I expected of a house that's in a beautiful, rural part of Massachusetts. The house was full of character, and yes sometimes that included some rustic charm or the occasional sticky doorknob or missing lightbulb, but I was 100% satisfied with our stay and at this price, who could complain?

    Trev2014-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We were 7 adults and 4 small children--needing a place to stay near Brimfield--site of a large family gathering over the 4th of July holiday. Ladidas's home was perfectly situated for our needs---easy road access and pretty views of a pond across the street (not suitable for recreation). The home has nice kitchen/dining space--though we didn't use this. Backyard with deck are ok--but not really set up in a way that encourages use. Bedrooms and baths are comfortable, though towels & pillow covers seemed a bit scarce for a group our size. One of the bedrooms has a bunk bed--but the top bunk lacked a mattress. One of us used a provided blow-up mattress on the floor but found it uncomfortable because it made unusual squeaking noises. We communicated w/Ladidas via email and text messages. Though her responsiveness was uneven in terms of time, she was consistently cheerful, flexible and thoroughly accommodating.

    Sol2015-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The house was everything that was described. It was the perfect getaway yet so close to town. We would go exploring during the day then come back and sit on the deck and enjoy the evening.

    Theresa2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Two of us stayed in this sweet house for 3 nights so that we could attend the Brimfield Antique Show nearby. The location was only about 10 minutes away and in a beautiful, wooded area across the street from a pond-lovely. Sunrise and sunset was beautiful from Ladidas' front window or front bedroom. Ladidas is a thoughtful communicator. And it was great to have AC in the bedroom in which we stayed, as a couple nights were humid.

    Amy2014-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Ladidas was great to work with and quickly responded to all of my questions before and during my stay. I enjoyed my stay here. The house is on a pretty quiet street across from a nice pond. I loved waking up watching the sun rising up over the pond. As secluded as it feels, it's extremely convenient, only a few minutes to the highway and some excellent restaurant in Sturbridge.

    John2014-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • I went to MA to visit Boston and found this home at an affordable price. The home is located in a beautiful part of MA right across a pretty pond. It was my first time in MA and also my first time making reservations through airBnB. I did not mind the hour ride to Boston. The home is fairly spacious consisting of four bedrooms, two 1/2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining rooms, living room and patio. I enjoyed the quiet retreat environment and the ability to move around the home without feeling cramped. I very much enjoyed the master bedroom and private bathroom. Wall frames throughout the home provided a sense of being in my own home and a feeling of peace. I would like to add Ladidas was very accommodating and prompt in answering questions. I def. recommend this home.

  • Excellent stay! A wonderful way to truly unplug! Michael was a superb host, incredibly easy to communicate with, very kind, super gracious, and more than accommodating. The property itself was clean, comfortable, & well stocked with everything you need for a week (or weekend away). The lake/pond was very pretty, calm, clean and quiet. We'd love to stay here again in future.

    Fred2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a very relaxing visit to Sturbridge thanks to Michael and his wonderful house. The lake was so peaceful, and provided almost all of our entertainment for our stay. We even had a great blue heron visit. Watching the birds, the sunrise, and the fish was lovely from the balcony, hammock, bedroom, or dock. I would love to come back again. The house was just great.

    Patti2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • In a few words, a perfect stay. This location, Michael and Sheila's hospitality, and the beautiful house (that pictures don't do justice to) have validated my need to someday own a lake house of my own. The amenities are perfect, with everything we needed for meals, daily activities, and cleaning. I can't get used to being back after such a lovely week stay. On a final note, that lake water is the cleanest and warmest lake I could've asked for. Perfect.

    Benjamin2014-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was a totally charming and wonderful home away from home for our family. We loved the location right on the lake, and enjoyed the lake from the deck and from the canoe that Michael leaves for his guests. He's very friendly and a great communicator. You know what to expect at his place-- and that he's expecting you. Games on the shelves, space for a fire, a dining table on the deck--a perfect place for a family reunion that feels like your own summer place. Definitely an Airbnb we would return to !

    Mary Beth 2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Let me begin by saying that Michael and his wife Sheila were awesome hosts. They were attentive and communicative every step of the way, from making sure we knew where the cheapest gas and food/beverage stores are, to careful directions on how to get to their idyllic lake house. I rented the home with 6 friends, and we couldn't have had a better time. The house was right on the beautiful and clean lake. We had a fabulous view of it and caught quite a few fish (which we cleaned and grilled for dinner!). There's a wonderful fire pit that was easy to build at night and plenty of board games to keep us entertained. The house easily sleeps 8 people. Everything was great. I would love to come back.

    ming2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Michael was a great host and available any time we needed him. This cabin was very clean and in a good location, easy drive into town. We loved our stay!! The guys caught lots of Bluegill - it was great fishing!! The fire pit on the lower deck was so great to have at night as well. Plenty of things to do here as well! Board games, books, magazines. We couldn't have asked for a better stay - minus the things that were out of anyone's control of course (mother nature). :)

    Amanda2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect summer vacation spot! I came here for a long weekend with a group of 8 (which the house easily accommodates) and we all had an incredible time. First off, Michael and Sheila are the friendliest, most communicative hosts. From the very beginning, they sent us detailed directions to the house, pointed us towards the cheapest gas, groceries, etc. in the neighborhood, and made us feel very welcome. They were easy to reach by phone for any questions, and live nearby so were always able to swing by the lakehouse in just minutes when we needed them to. The house itself is clean, cozy, and feels like home away from home. Amenities include a full kitchen (we cooked every day and night), a grill, a fire pit, and a big deck that is perfect for relaxing on. The view of the lake is so picturesque, and the lake itself is very clean and perfect for both swimming and fishing. This was a wonderful place to unwind. I can't wait to come back!

  • Loved this cozy little place. Clean and comfortable.

  • Alice's place is a beautiful little house, very well maintained and with all amenities for a comfortable stay. Impeccably clean! We only spent one night there but you could easily spend more time exploring the quiet and beautiful area. The house is an easy detour from the highway - we used it to break our trip to Maine in half. Alice was quick to respond and even left a wine for us to enjoy upon arrival.

  • Alice's home was so lovely, we are already planning our next trip! We felt right at home and so didn't our dog. The beds were comfortable and Alice was kind enough to move a twin bed into the second bedroom so our two small children could sleep together. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt very safe throughout our stay. This was my first experience with an airbnb rental and we were more then satisfied. I highly recommend Alice's home.

  • This lovely cottage is peaceful, and quiet, in a friendly lakeside community. We were looking for a cozy, cottage and Alice certainly provided this for our sisters' weekend getaway. I would definitely recommend.

  • Cozy cottage in very quiet & friendly neighborhood. Great proximity to Old Sturbridge Village & Brimfield Flea Market.

  • Alice’s place was a perfect stop-over for us on a long drive from Maine - cozy, well-equipped, and near a beautiful lake.

  • James was both very communicative and gracious as a host. Not only was his home beautiful, but he left us a nice bottle of wine as an early wedding gift! I would absolutely recommend staying in his lovely home to anyone traveling to Sturbridge!

    Clinton2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house felt brand-new! It was spotless and recently renovated and seemed to have everything we needed. The setting was really pretty with lots of outdoor spaces and beautiful views. We were in town for a wedding (and were very happy that we had 2.5 beautiful bathrooms for our group to get ready in) but it was great to be able to hang out on the decks and use the kayaks and paddleboat when we weren't involved in wedding activities. The house was perfect for our needs and James was great with communication and accommodating our schedule. Thank you!!

    Jennifer2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Jim's house! He was there when we arrived and very welcoming and friendly. He answered all our questions and made us feel vey comfortable. The house is even nicer in person! 6 adults and one 2 year old stayed at the house and we all had room. The lake is amazing, we enjoyed the paddle boat and kayaks. We visited the Brimfield antique fair (10 min drive!) and came home with some great finds. We made a stop at Rapscallion Brewery (less then 2 miles from house) and enjoyed our time at the lake. We wish we booked for longer... My two year old keeps asking to go back to the lake house

    Stephanie2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great house. Everything was like brand new. The living area was spacious, airy and comfortable. There were great outdoor spaces for lounging and enjoying a quiet lake. We enjoyed the use of kayaks and the dock area has lots of easy steps to get in and out of the water. James provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. His email missed our departure for this destination, but the early instructions provided a seamless entry into the house. James made sure to stop by and meet us in person and answered all our questions. Will surely consider this rental the next time we plan to visit Brimfield.

    Janet2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house was beautiful and accurately described. James was welcoming and was very quick to answer any questions. I highly recommend this place and host.

    Dale2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our time at the house!! It is gorgeous, clean and private - the perfect getaway if you are looking to just unwind. Jim is an amazing host who's always accessible for any questions or issues you may have, whether it be house related or just general info on where to eat/shop in the area. The multiple decks have breathtaking views which you will notice as soon as you enter the house. The kayak's, paddle boat and fire pit were such a special treat. We hope to be able to return.

    Cynthia2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • I rented Jim's place for three nights at the end of July with my boyfriend's family and my parents (8 people total). I have literally no complaints about our stay. My boyfriend's parents arrived first around noon on a Thursday, and before my boyfriend and I even arrived later that afternoon, my boyfriend's dad was already talking about trying to rent it for a week next summer. The pictures for this listing are great but still don't do the house justice. It's so much bigger than it seems online and beautifully renovated. The open floor plan was great and it was so nice to have all that space. The view of the lake from the kitchen/living room area was fantastic. We woke up early every morning just to hang out and enjoy it. We had all our meals on the large deck off the living room. We had access to Jim's paddle boat and two kayaks and spent the majority of our time exploring the lake, floating in the water, or lounging on the dock or the several decks off the back of the house. As far as amenities, pretty much everything we needed was provided to us - bedding, towels, etc. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for all 8 of us in terms of cookware, pans, etc. There were some basic food items (coffee etc.) but there were several grocery stores close by for when we needed to run out for anything we didn't have. Jim himself was very responsive and was very accommodating to our large party as we went through the booking process. Instructions on how to get into the house, where everything was, and how to leave it when we left were very clear. I didn't get to meet him in person as I arrived later, but he made a point to stop by on our first day there in case we had any issues or questions. This was my first time booking an Airbnb and I was extremely impressed. I would definitely book this place again, no hesitation, and highly recommend it to anyone else!

  • John went above and beyond host when he picked me up after my car broke down

  • Johns communication was great and he was very informative on our arrival. The listing is accurate and it was a lovely location with a beautiful view of the lake. The room was clean and cozy and the bed very comfortable. His suggestion of the Travellers Restaurant was great, the food was excellent and it was so unique. Johns place is a spot we would love to stay at longer and explore the area.

    Richard2016-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • John was absolutely wonderful and I couldn't have asked for a better host for my first Air BnB stay! I was a vendor at Brimfield and the location was perfect as was the space. My mother came to help me and the space was the perfect layout for what we needed: A TV (with Netflix!), bathroom with a shower, kitchenette and a full sized bed (and futon if needed!). There's a separate entryway for the basement/space which is great for early mornings and later nights. The location is ideal- just off I-84 which made traveling to Strubridge a breeze (yummy restaurants!) and it's south of Brimfield so it made going in and returning easy. Not to mention the gorgeous piece of property he lives on! (The drives to and from are beautiful with the reservoir right next to you) John's communication is quite timely- he is very attentive while giving you your space. I definitely plan on staying here again in the future!

  • The stay was more than great! John is such a nice and open-hearted person and it was very welcoming when we arrived. His place at the lake is very beautiful and quiet and surly worth to stay for more than just one night. The apartment is really clean, cosy and makes you feel like your at home right away. We highly recommend this place if you want to spend a couple of days at a quiet and peaceful place or even if you are just looking for a nice place to stay for one night. We would definitely come back to John and Zoey, the lake, the fireflies and the campfire in the garden ;)

    Juliane2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • John met me in the driveway with a warm welcome and carried my clunky bag for me, down stone steps to a big, comfy room that opens on the back yard. Glass doors look out over the pond and, when I was there, the leaves were bright gold. The setting is beautiful, on a winding country road in the woods. And John is so nice! When I asked him what I should see at Old Sturbridge Village, he offered me a guided tour, so off we went, and had a great time! Also - in his description John mentions the possibility of having a massage therapist come in for a session. I let John know ahead of time, and he kindly set it up for me. Massage therapist Rosemary is wonderful. Altogether, it was just a beautiful, enjoyable stay.

  • Even with such a late arrival John was there to welcome us and even help carry my cooler down the stairs. He was very friendly with a quick review of the layout of the space and some information of the surrounding area. The kitchette was awesome. We brought a little griddle to add to his kitchen with microwave fridge and freezer, coffee maker, plates, utensils, and even salt pepper. Very user friendly space! There were some games and books along with a desk area to work in if you like. I would highly recommend John's place... We definitely got our monies worth.

    Melissa2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • John's place is exactly as described - it's very conveniently located, very comfortable, and very clean. John was a superb communicator throughout the process and checked in a few times to make sure we were set with everything we needed. We arrived pretty late at night and John was gracious enough to wait up for us in order to show us to our room. Highly recommended! Would stay there again!
