Modern two bedroomed, separate accommodation with studio kitchen comprising of a combination oven, double hob, fridge and sink. There is also a kettle and toaster, cutlery etc. Youngs garden stable block is on the edge of a charming old village in East Sussex, within striking distance of Bateman's ( home of Rudyard Kipling ) and many other historic sites such as Bodiam castle, Scotney castle, and many more. The village is approximately a 10 minute walk and has 2 pubs and a small supermarket.
The converted stable block at Youngs Garden offers a relaxed and welcoming environment. We have pet pigs, chickens, geese and ducks hopefully enhancing your rural experience. Please note that if there are 2 guests requiring single occupancy of both bedrooms there is an additional charge on the listed price of £35.00 per night
Burwash is central to so much that East Sussex has to offer. We are only half an hour from the historic towns of Lewes, Battle and Hastings. The village of Burwash which is a five minute walk or a 1 minute drive has a small supermarket ( Open from 8.00am to 8.00pm) and 2 pubs. Please don't hesitate to ask for any information on things to see and do and additional places to eat in the area.
  • We had a lovely weekend staying in Burwash. Claire was a great host and made us feel most welcome. The stables were tastefully done and incredibly comfortable. We would definitely come back to stay if we were in the area.

  • Lovely place. Very well equipped, super warm and clean. Host was helpful and friendly. Our son helped feed the chickens in the morning and enjoyed watching the pigs. Local pub is fabulous (and happy with a 4 year old being there!). We had a wonderful break. No issues at all.

  • We had the worst wind and rain all weekend, but the stables were so warm and cosy, and we had all the TV and movies we could need! It turned out to be a really lovely weekend away from home :)

  • Beautiful location, stunning place, amazing host! I were travelling with a 14 month old and a dog, when we arrived the house was warm and cozy, there was a box full of toys for our daughter who was delighted with them, and our dog couldnt believe the size of the garden, she was ecstatic! The house has everything we could need, it's well decorated, great shower, underfloor heating (great for crawling babies!), and comfy bed. Claire even booked a table for us at the local pub, which by the way we highly recommend, yummy food and great environment. We will definitely come back once the weather improves!

  • Wonderful cottage, just perfect for a relaxing girly weekend. Very well laid out, loads of homely touches and Claire was a great host.

  • What a fantastic few days away in a comfortable and modern rural retreat! The barn conversion was spotlessly clean, comfortable, spacious and equipped with all the basic necessities you need for a short break away (tea, coffee, milk, towels, toiletries, kitchen essentials). The cottage is located just on the out skirts of Burwash village so its lovely and quiet and only a short (10 min walk) to the village center, and importantly the local pubs! We can highly recommend the Rose & Crown pub in the village, the food and atmosphere was excellent. We can also recommend the Claypot Indian Restaurant in Hurst Green for a delicious meal/takeaway. There are a number of National Trust properties within a 30 minute drive, making it the perfect bolthole for exploring. Claire was an excellent host, she made us feel so welcome and we really appreciated her taking the time to introduce us to all the animals and help feed them! We look forward to visiting again soon! p.s If you're visiting over the winter period I would advise you bring a torch if you plan on walking into the village. The village doesn't have street lights!

    Chloe2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous one night stay! Place was clean and so pretty. The garden is amazing with all the ducks and pigs etc and loved the fact the garden was dog safe. Easy to check in and great local walks and pubs within either walking or driving distance. Host was friendly and welcoming.

    Mia2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay! The barn conversion was charming and so comfortable, it had everything we needed. The location is beautiful and our dog loved the huge garden. Claire was so helpful and welcoming.

  • The best AirBnb I’ve ever stayed in. Fourteen friends came for a weekend of fun by the pool. Plenty of sleeping space. So much kitchenware including lots of cutlery, glasses and serving plates. Not to mention a well-stocked dressing up box! Beautiful patio space for BBQs and breakfasts. Plus an enormous dining room for a big sit down meal. Charlotte was really helpful and friendly, answering all my questions ahead of the stay.

    Sophie2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely beautiful house, it's enormous! Plenty of space and comfy beds. Great dressing up box and a selection of toys, dvds and games. The garden is great, swimming pool was fine to use even though the weather wasn't very warm. The children loved saying hello to the horses nearby. We would love to return one day.

  • I stayed here on my own for New Years Eve and it was incredibly peaceful, warm and cosy. Helena lit the woodburner to ensure the hut was warm for my arrival - and it was toasty! Watching the sun set over the fields was a lovely way to end the year, and a bracing walk up to the temple, with just sheep for company, was a lovely way to spend New Year’s morning. Everything you need for your stay, from plentiful wood, washing up liquid, towels and toiletries is provided - even milk in the cool box for your morning coffee. Loved it and would happily recommend to others.

  • Absolutely unreal. Would recommend 110%. Away and isolated and gorgeous. I had the time of my life and will definitely be visiting again. Stunning scenery - a beautiful country walk to a pub - the lodge itself is perfect. Would award ten stars if I could. Simply superb. They have everything spot on. Can’t ask for more.

  • Fantastic place to stay. Went in the rain and cold and we were as warm as toast. Great fun!

  • We had a fantastic time in this beautiful little shepherd’s hut. Very comfortable, well equipped and a great place to switch off from the world, have a few drinks and watch the sheep and the pheasants!

  • Beautiful hut, everything you need from a small space! The most comfortable bed and lovely finishing touches. Dinner in The swan not far away ...served the most delicious pie. Overall experience- fabulous 🙌🏼

    Kelly2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place in a fantastic location, Helena was very helpful and informative during our stay. But we were also given the space and privacy to enjoy our little getaway! Great for doggy owners! Jesse had lots of fun talking to the sheep and birds 😁

    Chris2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute little hut.Easy to find ,if you follow Helena's instructions even if you go to the farm by taxi.Would definitely recommend!!

    Papantoni2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 1 night stay and only wish it could have been longer. It’s a beautiful space in a lovely location and it was so cosy in the windy weather and we both slept really well. We went to the Swan for dinner and some drinks and that was really pleasant - would definitely recommend taking a photo of the helpful directions Helena has written as the trail is quite overgrown and there are a few opportunities to get lost! Thanks Helena, hopefully we will be back.

A lovely comfortable single room with a small double bed and sole use of the large family bathroom mornings and evenings. The cottage has a cosy kitchen, dining room and a lovely snug lounge area. About 3 miles away is Etchingham Station with good train links to London and Hastings. The patio is large and great for breakfast outside in spring and summer. We have a emu and peacock that live nextdoor, the peacock likes to pop in the garden. Kipling’s home Bateman’s is only a short walk away.
The room is on the first floor with a small double bed for single occupancy and includes sole use of the beautiful family bathroom in the mornings and evenings. The room is at the front of the cottage so looks out to the road but the garden has a lovely view of fields and trees.
Burwash is a lovely rural village surrounded by beautiful views. There are many places to explore including Rudyard Kipling’s home, Batemans. Batemans is now owned by the National Trust and is open to the public most days. There are 2 pubs in the village both serving food and a well stocked village shop. There are also some good farm shops close by. Etchingham station is 3 miles away with good travel links to London and Hastings. There are also lots of other places to visit as well. Mayfield is 8.3 miles, Bexhill is 11 miles, Hastings is 13 miles away and the historic town of Rye 22 miles away.
  • Incredible value for money.. Karen and her husband made me feel very welcome on my brief visit. So lovely to have breakfast provided too. Love Oscar the puppy 😂😂

    Liz2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a lovely stay. I was looking for a weekend outside the city and was on the look-out for nature, a bath and a fire place and got it all. Staying at Karen and Mike‘s place was such a great break that instead of waking up early as I thought I deeply slept in. They are a warm welcoming couple who made sure I safely arrived at their place with Mike picking me up and dropping me off again when it was time to leave. I got great recommendations and made discoveries I wouldn’t have thought off. The breakfast was such a treat and I feel fully rested going home. Thank you both plus Oscar the dog (loving little gem) for this great break!

  • Our stay at the lodge was wonderful, it looks beautiful inside in a stunning setting, and the extra little touches (like the delicious brownies) were a lovely bonus too. Having working wifi and netflix/amazon was great for relaxing in the evenings and Sally's list of places nearby to visit was really useful for the day. Battle is only 10 minutes away by car and the Abbey well worth visiting! I can thoroughly recommend.

    Mara2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely beautiful lodge, relaxing and peaceful. The scenery outside the back doors was next to nothing. Unfortunately it was a short stay for us but would definitely be coming back again. Sally made are stay smooth and easy, she was the perfect host. All her small touches made everything so much more luxurious. If we do not come back to stay we will definitely come back for the brownies 😊

    Sonal2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A very cozy and cozy cottage on the estate of the owners. When we arrived, the fire was burning nicely and it was nice and warm. The cottage was very luxurious and thought of everything. There was an extra breakfast basket, bread, eggs, cake, chocolates. In the fridge was a bottle of bubbles, milk and butter. There were even bathrobes and slippers in the bedroom. Unbelievable. The house was spotless and everything in the interior was nicely finished. The only downside is that the water does not get very hot and that the hob is quite slow. But the oven is doing fine. The owners are very cordial people and they do everything to make their guests happy. If you need anything, just ask. We are definitely going back.

    Erik & Gre2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a lovely stunning little bolt hole, a place you can shut off from the outside world. Loved it, can’t wait to go back for longer.

  • Sally and Gavin go above and beyond our expectations of a host! thank you for making our weekend so peaceful and relaxing. Despite Storm Dennis and the weather, your lodge is beautiful and our time went far too quickly! Sally and Gavin were always on hand to keep our cozy fire going, give us local recommendations and the finishing touches really went the extra mile. Thank you so much!

    Rachael2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical weekend at Sally & Gavin’s Lodge. First of all the location is stunning and beautiful surrounding. The sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous. The lodge itself is incredible, it has everything you need. Beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches and extras. What makes this place however is Sally & Gavin and their hospitality. No stone is left unturned they really do make this experience special. They are two bubbly and friendly hosts that help with local tips: from running routes to local food stops as well as beautiful Homemade brownies on arrival. My husband and I will 100% be back! Thank you Sally & Gavin!

    Samantha2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the lodge for my boyfriend’s birthday was very lovely. Sally and Gavin were fantastic hosts. The decor of the lodge was absolutely stunning, the attention to detail was amazing. They did a lovely birthday welcome with the best brownies I’ve ever eaten! Thank you Sally and Gavin.

  • Immaculately presented and beautifully decorated luxurious lodge in a lovely setting. This large space has all the amenities you require for a long weekend or even longer in the holidays. I would highly recommend this place in the heart of Sussex, with its great local walking of the countryside. Very comfortable bed and great shower. Views of the surrounding Downs from the patio and the sounds and sights of the farm add to the experience. Easy parking and access to the accommodation. Sally is a great host.

More professional photography coming soon! Inkpen Cottage is a charming, detached Grade II listed red brick building originally thought to have been a farmworker’s cottage. You’ll find it tucked away on Strawberry Hill Farm, where the owners are working towards developing a self-sufficient lifestyle. There’s plenty to see on the farm itself, including a vegetable garden, fruit trees, a poly tunnel and geese and chickens, not to mention the odd pig or two! Recently renovated, the cottage has been refurbished to a high standard. The attractive, locally-made clay tile flooring has underfloor heating throughout, while the open-plan sitting room and kitchen benefits from a wood burning stove with French doors leading out to the private garden. The garden has wonderful views of the East Sussex countryside. In one corner, you’ll find a copse with a hammock and hot tub, perfect for relaxing after a day out exploring. The cottage is situated in the High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with ancient woodlands, iron workings and meadows teeming with wildlife. With many beautiful villages and towns nearby to explore including Battle, Rye, Burwash and Tenterden and the south coast is a short drive from the cottage. This holiday at a glance Sleeps two guests. Bedroom with 5' king size bed. Shower room. Open-plan kitchen and sitting room. Wood burning stove. Enclosed garden. WiFi. Gravel parking area. Sorry, no children or dogs. Minimum two night stay. Additional features Electric oven and hob. Fridge with freezer compartment. Microwave. Dishwasher. Cable television. Sonos speaker. Hammock. Hot tub. Garden furniture. Attractions and nearby amenities Cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, historic buildings, Rye is a delightful place to visit at any time of year. You’ll find lots of independent shops and cafes nestled amongst the narrow medieval lanes and passageways like Mermaid Street. St. Mary’s church tower is normally open to the public, from where you can enjoy a magical view of the houses and streets below. Camber Sands has to be seen to be believed. The beach here is vast, with a backdrop of magnificent sand dunes. People say that the best end of the beach is towards the west, where the River Rother meets the sea. If you like your history good and ancient, a visit to the town of Battle will take you back to 1066. Re-enactments of the battle are held regularly and there are arts and music festivals throughout the year. The medieval abbey is worth a visit too. Bateman’s was the last home of Rudyard Kipling, whose widow left it to the National Trust. This 17th century Jacobean house has a moat and a beautiful romantic garden too. The house is laid out as it would have been in the Kipling family’s day. Bodiam Castle is another National Trust property, also complete with its own moat. This dates back a lot longer, to the 14th century, when it was built by a knight of Edward III. The interior is now a ruin, but the exterior looks just how you’d want a castle to be. Sissinghurst Castle is famous for the garden created by Vita Sackville-West and her husband Harold Nicholson. The couple created a series of separate garden rooms, including the Rose Garden and the White Garden, with its wonderful monochromatic colour scheme. If you’re an art lover, you’ll want to visit Hastings. The town is home to Hastings Contemporary, a vibrant centre of the contemporary arts that’s just a few steps from the beach, while White Rock Theatre hosts everything from rock concerts to panto. If opera is more your thing, don’t forget about Glyndebourne, where the Festival Opera is held every summer. For additional inspiration on what to do within the area, please click here.

  • Beautiful cabin. I spent a couple of nights here by myself and, aside from being slightly spooked at night, I felt very calm and grounded when I left! The space is really wonderful and has everything you need for a few days. The woodland outside is gorgeous, and there are some nice (and muddy!) walks nearby. The shop and cafe at the farm are great - the cafe is very popular so get there early if you want to visit. Bed was super comfy and I loved the fire pit and the visits from the sheep!

  • A very comfortable and cosy studio above the hosts' garage. Perfect for a relaxing night after driving around to explore the local area. Nice views of fields and pheasants. The extra special touches of soft towels and posh coffee, tea, milk and biscuits were much appreciated in the storm Dennis weather.

Robertsbridge Cabin is conveniently located on Robertsbridge High Street, with its own private access. There is a large double bedroom with a cosy Chesterfield arm chair, plenty of storage and tea and coffee making facilities. Guests always comment on how comfy the bed is! Adjacent to the bedroom is a separate modern bathroom, complete with underfloor heating and complimentary toiletries. Fluffy robes add to the comfort! Private patio area, where you can enjoy star gazing or even a BBQ!
Situated just off the high street, this is a log cabin style property, with a modern bathroom and comfortable bedroom.
  • Rebecca’s cabin is absolutely gorgeous! Tucked away off the high street we followed the fairy lights up to the cabin with Rebecca who showed us the space and gave us some tips on the area. This is a great spot for walking around the beautiful area and we loved it lots! Good sized space with tea and biscuits (super important!) and a good sized bathroom too! Also super cosy, just what we needed! Highly recommend!

  • Really lovely place to rest your head! Excellent personal touches!

    Nicola2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca saved me in an emergency when I found myself too far from home to get back at the end of a work trip. She responded to my request within an hour, prepped the lodge and heated it, and it was ready for me within three hours of my first enquiry - if not two! It's plain and simple, but stylish - and the chair and generous bed are both incredibly comfortable. The shower room is unexpected - completely luxurious (especially given the situation at the top of a network of gardens), with strong shower, lovely towels, underfloor heating plus heated rail. Essential toiletries, tea and coffee (and chocolate biscuits!) are laid on - and I needed those! The night I stayed there was yet another storm, and the rain pounded on the roof and chunks of tree were thrown about by the wind - but it was still warm inside, and the verandah turned out to be really sheltered, so even going to the loo in a storm was no hardship. It's a great place to stay, and Rebecca is just amazing. Thank you!

    Claire2020-02-29T00:00:00Z

  • This is the second time we've stayed in the cottage, and it was just as good! A lovely fire in the woodburner, luxurious bath upstairs and stunning views all around.

    Jamey2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect peaceful getaway. The views from the fields off the back of the cottage are stunning. Cottage is cosy with stylish touches, a real retreat; plenty to do new nearby or just enjoy doing nothing; feels really secluded. Melissa was thoughtful and easily contacted should we have needed anything. Late check out given without request which was a real delight as we didn't want to leave! Wish we could have stayed longer but we would definitely come back!

    Nadia2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jacks Cottage is quite frankly spectacular. A beautiful, airy and idyllic barn with stunning views of the Sussex countryside. Really cosy and homely place to stay (with the freestanding bath being a personal highlight) I would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting a quiet few days away or to use as a base to go exploring around Sussex and Kent.

    Thomas2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa is an amazing host. She showed great hospitality and very quick in responding. We had a weekend escape with my family. The cottage has a beautiful garden and very close to one walking path to the local pub. The kitchen was fully equipped and there were enough staff(spices, tea, coffee, sugar, bread etc) to prepare breakfast. Melissa also left some complimentary items in the fridge (many thanks for those) . Beds were very comfy. Certainly recommend having a Sunday roast at the Star Inn pub. Over all, we enjoyed our stay very much.

This is brand new holiday rental accommodation with great access to the town of Battle and lots of close by attractions including Battle Abbey, Bodiam Castle, Coastal towns of Hastings and Bexhill and Historical towns like Rye.
The attractive town of Battle gets it name from the Battle of Hastings, which was fought between Harold the Saxon king and William the Conqueror in 1066. The battle was so significant it changed the course of English history. The town grew up around the Abbey of St Martin which was built by William the Conqueror after the battle. It is said that William vowed that should he win the battle he would build such an abbey. The abbey was built between 1070 and 1094, and the high altar is believed to have been placed on the spot where Harold fell. Today the Abbey ruins and the battlefield are cared for by English Heritage and are well worth a visit. The imposing Abbey gatehouse built circa 1338 can be seen as you look down the length of the High Street. Battle has some notable Georgian buildings along its High Street. The cottages and houses near the Abbey date from around 1700. The parish church of St Mary was built in Norman times and for the most part is 12th century in construction. It offers the visitor rare 14th century wall paintings and a Norman font amongst other things. At the Northern end of the High Street can be found the Almonry which was built in 1090 and now houses the Town Council and the Battle Museum of Local History.

  • It is so difficult to explain the total relaxed atmosphere at The Buzzardry. We had planned a number of trips out but actually didn’t do one of them as we chose to ‘camp out’ with the log burner in the beautiful surroundings of The Treehouse. A perfect Christmas

    Lesley2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I rented this treehouse as a birthday surprise for my partner and it was more magical than we could have ever anticipated. “A childhood dream come true” were his words! The space is faultless - it’s immaculately clean, the welcome hamper is such a lovely addition, and the grounds and story behind the treehouse are so wonderful. We would definitely stay again and 100% recommend it to anyone thinking of staying here!

    Naomi2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse is a very unique home set in the most beautiful surroundings. We spent two nights there in October and were very lucky to have brilliant sunshine to wake up to while sat on the deck drinking tea each morning. The stylish interior and welcome we received was amazing. Would definitely recommend this little hidden gem! Lisa and Jon

Cooking facilities are great too so really felt like a home from home. We took our dog too and he found the cottage very comfortable! Was a lovely break and wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Charming cottage with generous sized living room area upstairs. Good base for exploring the local countryside. Layout of the cottage suited to people who like outdoors activities with a large entrance for clothes / boots / kit and separate from the living space. There is also plenty of room outside for bikes and parking . The cottage is next to a road and a few mins drive from the Swan pub which served good food.

  • Absolutely brilliant country stay; would recommend to anyone! The hosts were lovely people, quick with responses, and were even kind enough to provide some meat from their farm for us! The property is in wonderful location; secluded, with beautiful views of the countryside all the way toward the coast. Inside, the kitchen is well equipped with everything you’d need, and the living space upstairs is simply splendid. Very nicely furnished and decorated home with a warm, homely feel to it. The only slight hiccup is that although WiFi is available in the property, the connection itself is so poor that streaming any content is out of the question; even sending emails is a struggle. Other than that minor issue, it’s an absolutely wonderful stay at The Old Chapel; 10/10 from us.

  • Lovely space with wonderful views! The hosts were very helpful and check in and check out were very easy!

  • The Old Chapel is a really lovely place. It's in a great location for visiting places like Rye and Battle, and also for visiting country pubs and going for walks through the woods. We enjoyed getting a guided walk through the sheep fields, and also sampling the free range sausages and eggs. The house itself was very clean, nicely decorated, and very well stocked. Highly recommended!

  • Neil and Helen are fantastic hosts and we loved visiting their farm to learn a lot about raising Sheep, Chickens and pigs. Venue is spectacular and grateful we had the opportunity to spend some time at the Chapel.

  • This was our first experience of AirBnB and we definitely hit the jackpot. All communication with Anna was very friendly and helpful. She was there to greet us on our arrival and went out of her way to make us feel welcome along with introducing her dogs who are very friendly. The studio is beautifully styled, immaculate and very comfortable. Anna provided a fantastic choice for breakfast which we weren’t expecting along with a good selection of tea/coffee (some good hotels don’t even offer decaf tea) and biscuits. The view from the studio of the oasthouse and the garden is idillyic and peaceful. This is a real gem.

    Helen2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautifully situated in nature. Very quiet with sheep in the garden. Nice and green environment. Very friendly welcome. They were always ready to help us or provide information about trips. We went to Batemans gardens and that was really worth it. Large and soft bed. Only positive experiences!

  • Absolutely gorgeous cottage. Quiet and quaint setting away from the city. Romy was quick and responsive and took great care of us during our stay. The stars at night were beautiful. Had a great Christmas!

  • Lovely place. The place is spacious and has everything you might need. Kitchen is fully equipped. Lots of places to walk around. Romy is a very nice host. She’s very friendly and attentive.

    Maria2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely converted barn, located close to the host's home. It's a private space, the enclosed small garden was perfect for letting our dog out safely. But we really enjoyed and appreciated being able to make use of the field just outside. Our dog loved playing with Romy's gorgeous pup! The kitchen facilities were great. Heating was quick to come on and kept us cosy. Everything, including the bathroom was spotlessly clean. I travelled with my mum who slept on the sofa bed downstairs and said it was very comfy. Beds upstairs comfy too. Romy was available for help and info, and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We'd love to return! Thanks for having us.

  • The cottage was lovely, spacious yet cosy. Extra touches and amenities were added making it feel more homely. Romy is a great host, really knowledgeable about the area and local activities. I would highly recommend a stay here.

    Anouzka2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Romy's place is lovely! What a fab place to recharge and use as a base to explore the beautiful countryside nearby. It's a self-contained converted space - it feels very separate to the house, with a gorgeous green view from two sides and lots of light (huge floor to ceiling windows). It's spacious and quiet. But as well as feeling the peace of being away from it all, it was nice to know that Romy and her family were nearby if I needed anything. Romy was lovely to talk, with local recs too. Great selection of books and dvds inside as well. I'll definitely plan to go back when I need a bit of a retreat!

    Ali2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic cosy rental in great location with lovely pub nearby. It has everything you need and is really nicely done, plus beautiful views and fantastic local tips from Romy. Robertsbridge, owes its existence to the founding of a Cistercian Abbey in the 12th century. Excellent links to London and Hastings with a main line station 10 minutes walk from The Parlour and The Dairy. The Kent and East Sussex railway run steam trains between the near by village of Bodiam to the elegant market town of Tenterden. For the steam train enthusiast Robertsbridge has its one Rother Valley Railway supporting 2/3 mile of railway track. Gray-Nicolls makers of the famous cricket bats manufacture in the centre of our village. We are blessed with many national Trust and English Heritage properties with in 10 to 30 minutes drive including Bodiam Castle, Battle Abby 1066 country, Batemans the home of Rudyard Kipling, Scotney Castle, Herstmonceux Castle and Observatory. Robertsbridge is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Cinque port Town of Hastings famed for its bohemian old Town still has a commercial beech landing fishing fleet. • Not too difficult to find following Virginia’s directions, ample parking on arrival. We were met by Virginia’s daughter and son-in-law who showed us around and made us all feel very welcome. They were very accommodating and hospitable during our stay and nothing was too much trouble. We were very touched to find breakfast bits and a couple of bottles of wine in the fridge, very thoughtful! Very well stocked kitchen, comfy beds and a really nice shower! We had fun meeting the resident goats and enjoying the beautiful sunrises across the fields. We’ll definitely be back! Thank you.

    Amy2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely country kitchen and wood burner, we sat around the kitchen table and played cards using acorns which we gathered in the woods near by in front of fire. Close from historical town of Battle and lots of nature walk. Lastly we loved the giant goats they have in the ground.

    Midori2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! We loved the historic features. Kitchen is large and well stocked. Large bedroom and king size bed was comfortable, with an excellent rain shower upstairs. Our collies were comfortable in the enclosed porch overnight and also handy when they were wet from rainy walks. We used footpaths to walk into Battle, took about 45min (wear wellies - some mud and brambles).

    Lauren2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Virginia and Ted are wonderful hosts showing my partner around and making sure he knew where everything was. There are beautiful bridleway walks we loved the walk through the woods opposite the drive. We also were delighted with all the personal touches even a bottle of wine and the kitchen is a delight to cook in. There are deer in the woods too!

  • Virginia and Ted are lovely welcoming hosts , made us feel very welcome. The cottage its self is a pretty little cottage with everything you could need . It was great for us that it has two shower rooms as there was 7 of getting ready. The little extras were a lovely touch consisting of bread , milk , jam , tea and coffee and even bottle of wine which I wasn't expecting any of . The children loved the fact that they could wake up and see the two goats in the morning too . Also was very accommodating with our dog which was a big help as we originally didn't intend to bring her . Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again hopefully for a longer next time .x

  • Lovely and hugely spacious cabin in a great part of the world. Views from here are stunning. The hosts are super friendly and go that extra yard to ensure you’re well looked after. Plenty of privacy as it’s detached from the main property. Highly recommended - would love to return in summer to enjoy the excellent outside decking space.

  • Booked this place due to brilliant reviews and it didn’t disappoint. Spectacular views from property, comfortably fit five adults and had everything we needed. Would definitely book again to experience the garden and terrace in the summer.

  • I stayed here with 5 of my friends for a girls getaway - it was perfect! We were originally booked for 7 of us - I think this would have been a bit of a squeeze though, so it worked out that one of our party had to change her plans. The place was very well located and had good amenities. Very homely and lots of nice personal touches - including a Christmas tree which was lovely! Many thanks Helen for a very pleasant stay!

    Punnett's Town, England, United Kingdom

Enjoy serenity and privacy in your own part of a Sussex oast nestled in 2 acres of garden, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, 1 mile from the charming village of Salehurst. The ground-floor guest suite (accessed from its own garden) has bedroom (king size), a small sitting room and shower room. Enjoy breakfast before exploring local walks away from roads, ancient towns, historic houses, world-class gardens, castles, vineyards and the seaside in this beautiful pocket of SE England.
The guest suite is a separate living space from the house and comprises: a bedroom with king size double bed plus memory foam topper and top quality cotton linen (freshly ironed); a small sitting room with a two-seater sofa, TV (including Netflix, BBCiplayer and Amazon Prime), a table to take breakfast inside, and a tea/coffee station. French windows from the sitting room provide access to the terrace and garden. The oak-floored en-suite bathroom includes a walk-in shower, heated towel rail and electric shaver point. There is, of course, wifi. Table and chairs outside are there for you to use on the terrace or in the garden. Please note there is no fridge and the space in not suitable for self-catering.
We are situated in a very rural location, down a half mile private drive near the River Rother, surrounded by hop gardens, woodland and open countyside, well away from roads. This is a wonderful corner of East Sussex, with great pubs, walks, country houses and castles (Bodiam, Bateman's, Finchcocks and Scotney), world-class gardens (Great Dixter and Sissinghurst), the historic town of Battle (1066 and all that, only 10 mins away), Hastings Old Town with interesting antique shops and great fish - straight off the beach - and chips, hipster St Leonards with its quirky shops and restaurants, the smart spa town of Tunbridge Wells (good restaurants and shopping), and if you're keen on art the Jerwood in Hastings and the stunning, modernist De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill. The delightful town of Rye filled with art, antiques and history is also near. Robertsbridge (5 minutes by car, 20 minutes charming walk) has a great French cafe (Judges) and a quirky pub (The Ostrich). There is a wonderful walk, away from roads, along farm tracks and footpaths, past hop gardens and a fine 13th Century church, to the well loved Halt pub, which does great food and views. If you're a keen walker there is great choice, from the magical Fairlight cliffs, Bedgebury Pinetum, Battle Great Wood, Brede Wood, Bewl Water (reservoir) and the beaches from Winchelsea to Rye, including the impressive beaches and dunes at Camber.
  • We stayed at Serena's place for a weekend away and loved it! The place is separate from the main house with well kept gardens and lovely surrounding countryside, and has everything you require provided for a stay. Serena and Ian were hospitable and kind. They absolutely went the extra mile to ensure that we felt welcomed and at home, and were exemplary hosts. We had two lovely breakfasts prepared by them. They also have great dogs that enthusiastically greeted us each time we came back. I couldn't recommend this place enough - it offers a fantastic countryside retreat.

    Simon2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Oast House, hosted by Ian & Serena. Their local knowledge for places to visit, places to eat and local walks came in very useful. The room was clean and in a peaceful location with a close link to the A21, a great place as a base to see the local area, half an hour to the coast at Camber Sands. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return in June/July next year. :-)

    Mike2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Serena and Ian are excellent hosts, extremely welcoming, lovely breakfast and cosy room.

    Sandra2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolute gem of a find! Beautiful oast house accommodation, super attentive hosts but with your own privacy respected. Serena and Ian are charming and can't do enough to help make your stay comfortable. We walked into Robertsbridge (just 15-20 mins) one evening and had a great meal at New Spice Indian restaurant. The other evening we walked to the Saleshurst Halt pub across footpaths (15 mins) and had a fab meal there too. We walked to Bodiam along the river and did a vineyard tour at Oastbrook , plus had a wander around the castle. There were plenty of lovely shorter walks all recommended by the hosts and easy to use maps were provided. There is so much to see and do in the local area - lovely gardens, national trust properties, great pubs and the seaside only a short drive away. You could spend a week here and still not visit everything! We would love to have stayed longer and will definitely come back. Five stars all round from us.

    Amanda2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely property in quiet countryside location. The suite is very private with its own beautiful garden to sit out and enjoy breakfast or stargaze. 7 mins cycle or 20/25 mins walk from the train station so very doable even if you don’t have a car, and there are nice walks and bike rides from your doorstep. Serena and Ian were amazing hosts, we loved having a chat with you and it’s clear you really care about the comfort of your guests. Breakfast was amazing!!!!!! Thank you for such a wonderful weekend, we hope to make it back again some day.

Pine Ridge is situated in the historic town of Battle and is a 10 minute walk from Battle Abbey which was built on the site of The Battle of Hastings in 1066. We are nearby the Sussex Downs and surrounded by local, beautiful countryside which are both great for walks, yet close to the High Street for the convenience of shops, restaurants, cafes and coffee shops. Battle railway station is a mile away for trips to Hastings, Bexhill, Rye, Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells, Brighton and London.
Pine Ridge was built in the 1930's and is a lovely, warm, friendly, family home that we share with our sociable dog and cat. The listing is for our luxury, double bedroom that overlooks our back garden with ensuite bathroom. Complimentary tea, coffee and bottled water are available in your room. Breakfast includes cereal, toast, Croissant, fruit, yogurt or a full English Breakfast.
Our neighbourhood is a quiet, safe, friendly place. We are a tight knit community and there are often town activities going on that we all participate in such as The Medival Fayre, Battle Bonfire Night, Marbles on The Green, Scarecrow Festival, Summer Fayre and carnival, the Christmas parade and switching on of lights. We also love the annual Hastings Pirate's Day! All great fun, it seems that the locals like any excuse to dress up in a costume!
  • Really great stay at short notice in Battle on a ride between Pevensey and Rye. Lovely room, very comfy bed, fantastic breakfast and great, attentive, thoughtful hosts who were very helpful on tips for local area - including driving me to the pub on a very wet evening. Highly recommended! Battle itself is a lovely place - I found the Abbey and the battlefield fascinating - a seismic shift in history in just a few hours!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Ali’s place. Our hosts were really attentive and helpful. The location is lovely and quiet and our bedroom was spotless (the bed was so comfortable!). They offered us a full english breakfast which was really tasty and we also had some croissants! We couldn’t have asked for more, we felt really welcomed and comfortable. There were some lovely touches like our names in our room and how they went to get us the paper to read during breakfast. They also made sure to give us our space and ensuring we were happy with everything. Would definitely come back again! Thank you for looking after us so well.

  • Really great value for what’s on offer. The en-suite room was clean and very comfortable with a selection of toiletries. There is a hairdryer and slippers if you need them. The bathroom was perfect with lovely fluffy towels. A beautiful house with a lovely view of the garden from our room.

  • Fantastic hospitality and really everything you could want and more at Ali's place. From the beautiful soft bedding to the spotless rooms and the fantastic full English breakfast you really couldn't wish for anything more. I recommend highly to all and I'm sure we'll be back as we felt so welcome. This is more hotel standard than what you would expect from an Airbnb. We loved it : )

    Heidi2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend this air bnb highly enough. Alan and Ali have a beautiful home and they made me feel like a personal guest, which was very much appreciated as I was staying there on my own. They were so friendly, helpful and hospitable, and the breakfast was delicious... Cooked exactly as I had requested. Fresh cut flowers greeted me in my bedroom and I had the choice of sitting inside or outside in their beautiful garden for breakfast , so I opted for outside. Spotlessly clean, beautiful and tastefully decorated

    Nicola2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely restful place. We were offered tea in the lovely afternoon sun when we arrived. Ali advised on the best places to eat and even made the booking and dropped us off at the restaurant. It took us less than 15 minutes to walk home. We slept very well and had a beautiful breakfast served on the patio in the back garden, it was all so well done and like a mini holiday. I look forward to staying here again. I really do recommend staying here.

    Fiona2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very hospitable hosts, lovely surroundings and comfortable accommodation

    Rosemary2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Pine Ridge in Sussex will not disappoint. The room available is beautifully presented with everything you could ever need for a welcome and a very special stay. The room is spotlessly clean, with added little touches and beautiful decor. Everything you need is provided and if you have forgotten anything from home, Ali will endeavour to provide anything you should require. Ali is a marvelous host who is so accommodating and thoughtful. The breakfasts are amazing, fresh produce, delicious, well presented and the croissants are phenomenal. The garden is delightful and there are some lovely seating areas where you can simply sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility, an ideal place to just soak in the beauty of your surroundings. Our holiday was so relaxing and Ali made us feel so very welcome and we have already recommended staying at Ali's to all of our family and friends. Our holiday in Sussex was wonderful and staying at Ali's place made our stay even better.

Located as we are in the heart of 1066 country, the famous town of Battle, the location of the Battle of Hastings and Battle Abbey, is also just half an hour away, while the coastal towns of Hastings, St Leonards and Bexhill-on-Sea with a myriad of seaside activities are between a 30 and 40-minute drive away. • Amazing refurbished barn. I would recommend to anyone wishing to stay away from the usual town b&b or hotels. Has everything you would need. On a separate note; I would however recommend booking a local taxi some days early; i don't know how early as we never found an available one on a saturday afternoon/evening - but worth coordinating early if you don't plan for a designated driver.

  • The apartment was ideal for exploring the local area. We travelled as a family and the apartment offered everything we needed. The communication with the hosts was excellent; they also provided us with really good local recommendations in terms of areas to visit and places to eat.
