Places to stay in Brig o'Turk
The guest suite is attached to our family home and sits in 5 acres of grounds, made up of a peaceful garden, woodland and the banks of a mountain burn. It is nestled in a beautiful glen in the centre of the famed Trossachs. The suite has it's own private entrance and lobby, a double bedroom, shower room and toilet and an open plan living area with a well equipped kitchen. Guests are welcome to use the garden and woods and also have exclusive use of a summer house in the grounds.
Beauty abounds at all times of the year: A still starkness in winter, vibrant spring with the woods bursting with bluebells, green summers and fantastic autumn colours await you; and all of this with the burbling of the burn as a backdrop. Daily visitors to the garden include woodpeckers, nuthatches, red squirrels and pine martins. Dippers and heron are frequent visitors to the burn.
Centrally placed in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Brig o' Turk is located 22 miles from Stirling and about one hour's drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh. The village is steeped in cultural history! Brig o' Turk has no shops but we have several restaurants in the local area. The Byre Inn, a cosy gastro pub, is within walking distance (5 minutes). A short drive away is Venachar Lochside, situated on the shores of Loch Venachar. Another short drive away is the Tigh Mor local bistro, Scott's Bistro, which is open to the public. Brig o' Turk Tearoom is now unfortunately closed, but the former managers run Poppy Seed Restaurant in Callander. Callander (7 miles away) is the nearest town and is known as the gateway to the highlands. This is a popular tourist destination where you will find plenty of amenities including shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, pubs, banks and a post office. Amenities are also available in the small village of Aberfoyle (8 miles away), reached by the spectacular Duke’s Pass road that provides stunning views of Ben Venue, Ben A'an and Ben Ledi. A small traditional community set in a very rural, peaceful environment, surrounded by the nature.
  • We had a fantastic time staying here, the location was brilliant for walking, and the flat had everything we could want and more!

  • I planned a surprise trip for my girlfriend's birthday, as someone who loves and appreciates nature. Tim and Penny's place was perfect! It's rural, off the beaten track (so you will need a hire car), surrounded by beautiful walks, hikes and surroundings - a perfect escape from the city! We were greeted with Scottish hospitality, which is warm and inviting (despite the rainy and cold weather!) but we both had an amazing time. The place itself is a cosy 1 bedroom apartment with access to the beautiful gardens: watching the birds feeding in the morning was a particular highlight. It was perfectly clean and had everything we needed for our weekend break. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to getaway and experience the fresh rural sights of Scotland.

  • Brig O' Turk is a wonderful area to explore and Tim & Penny are great hosts. Lots of information for routes for walking and cycling. The accommodation was warm and they even helped with drying wet shoes(!)

  • We can only echo the comments of other reviewers; lovely location, hosts, and cake! This was a great base for a tranquil mini break with all the facilities you could want in a home-from-home. No hesitation in recommending, would happily visit again.

  • This is an excellent base for exploring the area. Functional, sparking clean, comfortable apartment, with well equipped kitchen. The communication was prompt and accurate, full of useful and clear details. We were welcomed with nice lemon drizzle cake and starter pack of tea, coffe, milk.. We enjoyed our stay and would consider coming back. Thank you Tim and Penny.

  • Tim&Penny were brilliant hosts, very quick to reply to messages and made our weekend getaway really special! Couldn’t recommend their place highly enough!! Great value and perfect as our base in the Trossachs to explore from. We’ll be certain to return :)

    Sean2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tim's guest suite was lovely! Exactly like the pictures and description. They have a beautiful house and garden with everything we needed to cook with and a lovely lemon drizzle cake to greet us! The location is stunning, even in the November Scottish weather we still managed to make the most of the local walking routes in the hills and lochs. Tim gave great recommendations and local tips. We would love to come back here, couldn't have been more perfect :-)

We live surrounded by Woodland Trust land, which during Spring is home to cows and their calves, which provides endless entertainment. Throughout all seasons we have red deer around the property and an array of birds.
We are situated within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, just 6 miles from the town of Callander. We are just 2 miles from the start of Ben Aan and Ben Venue, as well as many other walks in the local area, which can be accessed without having to drive. • Mike's chalet is very beautifully made out of wood. It is very well located in the middle of the Trossachs park, but as well not far from Callender, shops and supermarkets. Mike is nice and welcoming.

  • Nice quiet location nestled into the hill with spectacular views. Close to hiking and exploring the outdoors. The chalet is cozy and comfortable. Love the world map!

  • Mike has quite deliberately made his place simple ....but this doesn’t mean comfort has been sacrificed. We loved the tranquility and peace in this setting. There is lots of good walking but it’s also easy to get to Stirling, Edinburgh or Glasgow if you want to. Mike is just lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting him.

    Paula2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Mete are lovely and have been looking for anything we might need. The accommodation is as it appears in the description, it is well equipped and in very good condition. Thank you!

  • Lovely accommodation in a fantastic location. Very little driving once we were there with great walks from the house, and just a few minutes drive from the lochs. Fab shower and really comfy beds so had a great night's sleep. Cooking facilities were basic but adequate for simple meals so we didn't need to eat out. A great few days thank you.

    Alice2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • The ‘log cabin’ feel of the accommodation matches the surroundings perfectly. The outdoor decking and pond provide a great area to lounge around and enjoy the views.

  • The accommodation is very good - incredibly clean and with great quality of such things as beds, towels, toiletries, kitchen facilities. In the middle of a wet February we were always warm and comfortable. It was our first time in the area and we found wonderful landscapes even in bad weather - we felt really refreshed after our short stay.

    Philip2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is a prefect hideaway in the Trossachs especially in stormy weather! The location provided great access to all the walks. The house itself is superb. It is cosy, comfy, very clean and beautifully decorated with great facilities, it really feels like home away from home. Hillary was a prefect host, meeting us at the property to help check us in, and she even left us a helpful welcome basket. We would love to stay again.

    Isabella2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Hilarys place is spotlessly clean with everything you need. Plenty of information on places to visit. There is a pub in walking distance which serves good food. The beds are so comfy. Would definitely recommend a stay.

  • Beautiful wee cottage in the heart of Loch Lomond - great base for Ben A’an hiking. The cottage looks newly renovated and has every possible thing you could need including books, dvds and extra bits and bobs in the kitchen. Highly recommend. Extremely clean.

  • Hilary's cottage is excellent, such a peaceful location with great walking paths from the village, lovely big comfortable bed and excellent amenities. Our weather was sunny and frosty and the clear night skies were amazing! Really enjoyed our stay and didn't want to leave.

  • What a beautifully decorated house with absolutely everything you could ever need for a stay in the Trossachs. Even after my 4 year got covered head to toe in mud we could get everything washed and dried in time to do some more exploring the next day. Warm, comfortable and perfectly located. I loved the wee goodies left for us at the start and all the information about what to do around about. So many fantastic walks near by. I would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you Hilary...it made a crazy weekend away with three young children (and dog) so much easier and more enjoyable than expected! x

    Josee2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Hilary’s place. Every detail was thought of! The location is beautiful and we appreciated all the small touches and suggestions that Hilary offered. She provided great directions for arriving that were very helpful as GPS would lead you incorrectly. This was one of the best places we stayed on our trip. Thank you for everything!

    Megan2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Just wow. An insanely beautiful Airbnb. Hilary has created a home away from home, with every tine touch well though through. Beautiful decoration and superbly comfortable beds! Lots of great suggestions for days out and hiking, and a great selection of DVDs to snuggle up too at night. A fantastic location and we would love to come back! If you’re coming to the Trossachs, you’re missing out if you’re not staying here!

The cottage is on the Duke's Pass, detached but among other local houses. Parking is on street, free and rarely more than 20 yards from the door.
  • Very cosy cottage and very well located! We had a great time...having the woodburning stove was special. We would recomend!

  • A lovely, cosy little place. The location is fantastic if you want to go for walks through the stunning surroundings - literally a stone's throw from The Lodge Visitor Centre and other walks around Aberfoyle. The lounge space is perfect for spending a quiet evening, and you're also really near to the local shop and pubs if you want to pop out.

    Katie May2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was lovely and clean. My new husband and I were here for our honeymoon and it was the perfect place to relax. It rained the whole time we were there, but the cosy-ness of the cottage meant we didn’t mind staying in. Dukes cottage is really close to the shops and restaurants as well, only a 2 min walk away to most things.

    Emily2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage, perfectly located within a few minutes walk of multiple pubs and shops. The log burning stove was a treat to come back to after a day out in the rain! Im sure we barely scratched the surface of activities and walking in Aberfoyle and the surrounding area - we'll be back!

    Alice2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place. Highly recommend

    Sam2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute gem of a place in the perfect spot to be quiet, cosy and comfortable with everything from local amenities to a whole host of walking and magnificent countryside to explore, all right on the doorstep

  • This was our second time staying at Andy's cottage, once again a fantastic little cottage to use as a base of operations for exploring the Trossachs. Would recommend to anyone looking for a cosy space to relax in.

    Jill2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place in an excellent location. Andy was very responsive with his communication and even did an emergency hairdryer run when the one in the cottage stopped working 20min before we needed to leave for a wedding nearby!

Buzzard is a unique 2 bedroomed barn conversion which retains the original stone walls. Views from the estate are amongst the best in the National Park. We've chosen lush soft furnishings, Scottish accessories and natural colours to compliment your Trossachs experience. An ideal cottage for friends or family to socialise after a day of exploring or hiking in the National Park. The wood burning stove and wood fired hot tub provide the perfect evening ambience.
Buzzard is located on a working hill side farm which offers magnificent views of the Lake of Menteith and the surrounding hillside. The great outdoors can be enjoyed directly from your doorstep from which you can hike into the Menteith hills. Or you can relax in the garden in the summer, enjoying the magnificent views, watching the Highland Cows, playing badminton or having a BBQ. Whatever the weather or season there is always lots to do at Nether Glenny Farm: book the 'off road' farm tour in the Kawasaki mule, relax in the hot tub under a star lit sky or simply relax by the roaring fire in the cottage. Only a few mins drive from the cottage is an award winning restaurant which offers lakeside dining and to compliment that there is a great local taxi service which nips up and down our hill regularly. Alternatively, you might decide to choose something from our delicious ' dine in ' menu: choices range from tasty pizza and salad to our incredibly popular Venison Casserole which could not be any more locally sourced as our venison is literally from our very own hillside. The tourist towns of Aberfoyle and Callander are a few miles away and offer a good selection of restaurants, shops, art galleries, whisky specialist suppliers and excellent visitors centres. There is also quality bike hire, water sports, Go Ape, mountains, lochs and glens all within a few miles. Buzzard is open plan with comfortable lounge and dining area. The underfloor heating and log burner make it very cosy indeed. Upstairs there is a chalet feel to the bedrooms and the rooms are spacious, with one bedroom having a shower room and the other a full bath and walk in shower. If you require more or less space then please ask as we have two other cottages on site. There is an abundance of wildlife to be enjoyed; Buzzards, owls, red deer, Osprey in Summer, not to mention the Highland cows, peacocks, sheep and the Nether Glenny cats, Harris and Tweed, who are a firm favourites amongst our guests. Please note that there is a supplement for the use of the hot tub as it is an optional extra due to the fact that we clean, fill and heat your tub per use and details can be found in the ' other things to not section'.
The cottages are set amidst an 84 hillside estate nestled in the Menteith Hills. You will have stunning views of the hills and Lake of Mentieth from all walks on the estate. Although you have lovely views from the velux bedroom windows and from the downstairs windows, the best of these can be enjoyed from walks on the estate.
  • Hosts were lovely, cottage felt very quiet and secluded whilst also giving great access to the lochs and amenities. Personal highlight was running in to a highland cow!! Would love to stay again - thank you so much for having us!

    Eve2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Buzzard Cottage. There were 4 of us in total (5 if you include our 4 legged friend) and felt very comfortable and well catered for. The rooms are lovely and the finishing touches show just how much care and attention has been paid to the decoration and styling of the rooms. Kitchen is fully kitted out and the wood burning fire was a joy (although we did have to get a bit of help in getting it going). Great location with stunning views and lots of friendly cows and sheep who appeared to enjoy keeping an eye on us. Loved our stay and will definitely be coming back!

    Sophie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic hosts nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful, homely, cosy & stunning place to stay. Watching the stars from the hot tub was amazing we will definitely be back..

  • Great locations with access to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs and Stirling. A really cosy hideaway when it was cold and wet and a great place to come back to after a long walk. The farm tour and home-cooked menu were both brilliant.

    Duncan2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, facilities, log burner is great and so is the hotub, highly recommended

  • We had a brilliant couple of nights in Buzzard. Really warm, cozy and comfy. The farm animals and peacocks were great entertainment and the cottage is beautiful.

    Andy2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic break at Buzzard. This property does exactly what it says on the tin. Cosy cottage with great views and wildlife. We bunkered down for the entire weekend and enjoyed movies and board games. The highlight was the hosts home cooked venison casserole. We’ll definitely be back.

    Chloé2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place as a rural retreat with stunning views and heavenly walks, and blissful scilence and starry skies at night. Newly surfaced single track road up the hill to property, and excellently signposted. Beautifully designed space with cosy underfloor heating and woodburning stove and quality furnishings throughout. Games DVDs and books if you dont want to go out and a naturefest on your doorstep if you do ! Detailed folder with information of day trips away and how to use the stove etc. Alison and Matthew genuine kind and interesting hosts. Exceeded expectations .. alot of thought and love has gone into the place and it shows. Thank you Alison and Matthew !

Bethany Cottage is situated in the hamlet of Brig O Turk, part of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Beautiful views and walks are on the doorstep. The village has a pub within easy walking distance. There are also several pubs and restaurants within short driving distance. The pleasant tourist town of Callander is 7 miles away and has 2 supermarkets and many gift shops. Great for winter breaks: lovely walks straight from the door and real fire to relax in front of come evening time.
The cottage is light and spacious. Large lounge with open fire, kitchen equipped to cater for 6 and a hall with sitting area. There are 3 bedrooms: 2 doubles and a twin. The main bathroom has a bath with a shower over it, added after guest feedback. The master bedroom has an ensuite shower. Outside there is parking for 2 cars and a good sized garden.
Brig o Turk is quiet and peaceful and has beautiful scenery. Walking, cycling ( road and MTB), fishing and golf abound.
  • Bethany Cottage is a very homely and peaceful haven in the heart of the beautiful Trossachs. John is a great host and his house the perfect place for quietely relaxing and unwinding with wonderful walks or bike rides during the day and sipping a glass of wine after dinner by the open fire in the evening. Greatly recommended.

    Benedict2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely time staying at Bethany cottage. Good location, loads of walks on your doorstep, lovely little village and great pub only a five minute walk away. The house is a good size, loads of space for 6 adults. Kitchen had everything you would need and more. Beds very comfy. Loads of information on local walks. There was a oil smell in the kitchen as other reviews have mentioned, however, by just shutting the utility room door and opening the window in there, it soon disappeared. Would recommend staying here, we will definitely be back!

    Kirsty2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and spacious house. Everything was sparkling clean and the house was fully equipped if you fancy cooking in and then have a glass of wine by the fire place. Highly recommended :)

    Paola2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Johns place is an exceptional find. Tucked away in the tiny village of Brig O’Turk it has everything you need and more. The pictures of Johns property don’t do the place justice - it is an incredibly spacious property. Bedrooms are great, comfy beds. Two bathrooms. Extremely large, comfortable lounge and fully equipped (best we’ve stayed at) kitchen with full dining table. Thoughtful bottle of wine was left for us which was lovely. Loads of information in the property about local area, walks etc and John was great with communication both before and during our stay (even messaging to check we arrived ok!). Location is perfect for exploring the Trossachs. With a number of walks from the house (Glen Finglas dam, Loch Achray, Loch Venacher) meaning you don’t have to get in the car and also easy access to Ben A’An, Loch Lomond, Loch Katrine and surrounding towns. Also great for access to Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. We had a few pints and a dinner in the local pub ‘The Byre Inn’ which was great and I would definitely recommend. Supporting local businesses in this reasonably remote location is very important. We did a boat trip on Loch Katrine which I would also recommend. Thanks so much for a fab stay and we hope to be back in the future!

    Kate2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • My 2 teenage kids and husband spent 3 days at Bethany Cottage. We all enjoyed the spacious space but also how cosy it is , specially in the lounge when the fire is on. I have to mention the beds mattresses which are SO comfortable (air sprung), which makes for a great night. The house is very clean and has got all that is needed. It is in a very small residential area and well situated for lovely walks without taking the car as well as few yards from a lovely little pub. We really recommend it!

    Beatrice2019-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended accommodation in a great location!

    Theunis2018-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bethany Cottage and were extremely lucky with the weather. The cottage was spotlessly clean and situated in an ideal quiet location close to paths for walking and cycling. The surrounding scenery is outstanding. The only negatives are only one shower (bath only in second en-suite) and it would have been nice to have more garden furniture as the garden is very spacious.

    Sandra2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage/house is very spacious and all on one level in a lovely, quiet location. The photos don’t do justice to the space. The facilities were great, with everything you need for a holiday home. The area is absolutely stunning, with gorgeous walks, including foot/cycle access to the Three Lochs Forest Drive (from the lane next to the Byre Inn). Lots of walks around Brig o Turk too. The drive to Callander is very picturesque and the drive to Aberfoyle is via the Duke’s Pass. The Byre Inn is a lovely pub with excellent food. Quite expensive, but worth the treat. They also hire cycles. The Tea Rooms are currently closed. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend both the cottage and the area of Brig o Turk and we will certainly return in the future.

  • Pauline and Steven gave us a warm welcome to Benview Cottage, where we stayed for a fantastic week including New Year's Eve. There were many little details like Christmas cookies and a bottle of milk and one of prosecco in the fridge. We have rarely rented a so well-equipped place, everything needed to have an enjoyable stay and much more had been made available and in perfect working order, the WiFi and multimedia are fantastic and very appreciated for these moments when we all preferred stay indoors and watch a good movie. A small supermarket and an astounding butcher are located just a 15 min walk from the cottage, which is located in a stunning, peaceful area with great wildlife around the property to see as well. We all enjoyed watching the many different birds coming to the feeders, as well as our first wild red squirrel in the UK, although we missed the pine marten. Highly recommended for a family with children that loves nature while still having all the comforts of civilisation nearby.

    Stephan2019-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful week staying at Benmore Cottage! This is a true home away from home in the Trossachs and makes a great base for the area's hiking and cycling opportunities and other attractions. The cottage is in a lovely secluded spot just south of Aberfoyle surrounded by forest with lots of resident birds on the feeders and friendly Highland Coos in the paddock at the bottom. It is warm, comfortable and modern on the inside with complimentary wine, cake and milk on arrival, a log burning stove, fully stocked kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, board games, books and local info in the lounge and comfy beds. We enjoyed lots of day trips from the Cottage including the boat on Loch Katrine and cycle back, Benmore Botanic Gardens (great place to see Red Squirrels!) , hike up the Munro Ben Lomond, hike up Ben A'an and walks in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. 'The Faerie Tree Inn' in Aberfoyle is a pleasant place for an evening meal and drink too! Pauline and Steven are the ideal hosts - warm and welcoming and only 5 minutes down the road if you need anything during your stay. Would highly recommend this as a great Trossachs base! Already planning our next trip back!

This is a single static caravan with no neighbours, situated in a quiet open rural space, with a beautiful view of Ben A'an.
Brig O'Turk is a very small rural village/ hamlet near Callander, approx 11 km. No shops as such, there is a local pub which is currently being refurbished and the Tea rooms mentioned above plus a post office. We are situated in the heart of the Trossachs national park, if hill walking, fishing or just being in the Scottish country side is your thing then you have struck gold with this location.
  • We stayed 12 days in Rogers trailer and enjoyed our stay a lot. There is a lot to explore nearby and the landscape is stunning. With a car it‘s really easy to do daily trips to - for example - Edinburgh or Glasgow. The Trailer is just as described, so if you look for an opportunity to relax in silence without TV and internet, you should definitiy have a go for the trailer. Though there are shopping opportunities nearby in Callander. Roger is really nice, we loved to chat with him and he was always helpful and available when we needed something. We would stay there again any time. Thanks!

  • The caravan is comfortable and clean and is situated in very peaceful surrounds. It's really lovely to sit and just experience the tranquility! Roger (a very pleasant host) provides everything that is needed to cook within the caravan which is very useful. His three German Shepherds add extra character to the stay - they love their purple frisbees. The caravan is situated within an easy drive of Callander, Loch Katrine / Venachar / Achray , Ben A'an, Ben Venue and Glen Finglas.

  • Fantastic few days - great chance to relax in an idyllic setting. Lovely little cottage- perfect for me, my wife and our 3 month old. Great communication with our lovely hosts in the run up to our arrival. All in all- great stuff.

  • We found this place a real gem. It actually exceeded our expectations. No photo can really do justice to the amazing views from the cottage here, just stunning! Good value, super homely and definitely make sure you do the farm tour on offer. The hosts Mathew and Alison are quite literally living their dream here despite the riggers of farm life and it’s infectious!

  • We loved our stay here, the cottage was perfect for a relaxing weekend away. The stove was a great touch for a nice, warm and relaxing evening. We also did the farm tour which was great, loved seeing the animals and hearing about all the efforts being made to have a sustainable and environmentally friendly farm, as well as having a strong community focus. Thanks for everything and best of luck with everything

  • This Nether Glenny holiday cottage is idyllic! Kestrel has spectacular views, cosy log burn with tasteful decor and furnishings. Very special place. Alison and Matthew are very friendly, helpful and communication was easy. The “dine in” option is excellent - the crumble was delicious!! We have already booked our next trip! Thank you very much Alison and Matthew for a wonderful new year getaway, your Kestrel Cottage is truly fabulous.

  • Beautiful views of the lake and lovely quiet location. The space is really stylishly decorated and kitchen well equipped. Place warmed up really well with the wood burning fire. We were lucky enough to have a night with the hot tub as the Buzzard cottage was being redecorated and it was well worth the small extra charge. Perfect little getaway for me and my fiancee and we would love to make it back sometime.

    Juli2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a stunning location, the cottage was warm, cosy and spotlessly clean. Great shower (I have long thick hair, so is always a winner for me!) and such a comfy bed, we both had a great nights sleep. The hosts cannot do enough for you, and are so friendly. I highly recommend a farm tour if available, it’s such a great experience, with amazing views and turned out to be a highlight of our trip. I can’t recommend this cottage highly enough, you would be silly not to book! We can’t wait to come back, and are already planning our next trip.

The Bolt Hole is a cosy retreat situated between the picturesque village of Aberfoyle and the Trossachs National Park. A two minute walk from the village with its many pubs, shops and cafes. The space is perfect for couples and nature lovers with a garden full of local wildlife including Red Squirrels, Deer and Foxes as well as a large selection of birds ranging from Robins to Buzzards.
The Bolt Hole is a room only basis but does provide tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge to store cold items. A king size bed gives a little extra luxury.
Aberfoyle offers a good selection of places to eat, drink and shop. A two minute walk takes you into the National Park where you can enjoy spectacular scenery. The area is full of walks and cycle trails or for the more adventurous, perhaps a trip to Go Ape which is situated in the forest behind the house.
  • We had a fantastic two night stay in the bolt hole. Heather and Grant were lovely hosts, great communicators and our stay was really comfortable with an incredible array of extra little touches and amenities. The location is in quaint and cute Aberfoyle within walking distance to shops and pubs and an easy drove to Loch Lomond and the surrounding area. We’ll definitely be looking to visit again in the near future.

  • This place is lovely, a cosy wee den tucked away just a minute or two from the village’s main street and the pubs. The hosts are super friendly and welcoming. Couldn’t have asked for more really! Definitely would return in future :)

    Rob2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute perfection! 'The Bolt Hole' is comfortable, warm and cosy, suited us down to the ground. Heather and her husband properly looked after us! The touches of snacks and drinks in the room really added to it. It's a perfect location for exploring, or just taking a breather. We look forward to going back in the future. Chloe and Zack xx

  • Had a lovely weekend in Aberfoyle staying at The Bolt House. It is attached to the main house but you’d never notice. Heather was friendly and non-invasive. She even went to the extra effort of stocking the fridge with soft drinks, wine and beer. There was a good selection of hot drinks with biscuits and even porridge for breakfast. The house is a 2 minute walk from the Main Street with pubs, cafes and shops, perfect location. Would definitely stay again if back in the area.

    Rachael2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Bolt Hole far exceeded expectations. The location is excellent, only 2 mins walk to local co-op, pub and restaurant. Despite this you dont hear a sound. Picturesque views not only in the surrounding area but also right outside the front door. Heather and her husband were very welcoming and friendly. Despite the fact the studio is attached to the main house, you wouldnt realise it. I guess thats a bonus of having unimposing hosts who have made every effort to make your stay a comfortable one. Fresh milk, fruit juice, local biscuits and sweets were there in abundance. There is also a kettle, mini fridge, toaster, iron and ironing board! The bathroom is great, the underfloor heating and toiletries were a great bonus. Couldn't have asked for more, especially at such good value. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

    Stephanie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful place, a lot bigger than it looks in the pictures. Heather is a fantastic host and made us feel really welcome. Everything we asked was responded to immediately. Perfect little hideaway for the weekend with the forest a few minutes walk away for walking/cycling. Lochs nearby for wild swimming and more. Couldn’t ask for more. See you soon Heather x

  • The Bolt Hole is in a stunning location perfect for viewing nature and creation at its best. It’s a cosy clean relaxing space with all necessities included. Beautifully decorated too! The hosts went over and above what was expected to help us enjoy our stay. We loved our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

  • I rented the Cottage for a getaway with friends and it was fantastic - very clean, good location. The cottage had everything we needed! I would recommend renting mountain bikes from the pub across the road and cycling along Loch Venachar to Callander!

  • It is lovely. Well recommended.

  • A fantastic cottage in a beautiful location. Peaceful, but next to a wonderful pub run by friendly people. Easy access for outdoor activities. Would definitely recommend and would certainly return. 😊

    Tracy2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • There are useful amenities in the cottage (including a washing machine and a dryer, indispensable in the autumnal rain!), it's a warm space with hot water in the shower at all times. Cosy communal space with a fireplace and a big table. It's situated away from the main road making the surrounding peaceful and quiet, although it means it's best accessed by car.

The perfect staycation or work from home alternative. Set in a fantastic location within the Trossachs National Park and at the foot of Ben Ledi. There is a fantastic pub a very short walk from the house, The Lade Inn. It's a 15 minute walk into the popular visitor town of Callander. An ideal stay for explorers, walkers, hikers, cyclists or just those who want a couple days peace and quiet. During this period I am taking extra care to disinfect commonly touched areas between reservations.
Available is the 2 bedroom annex of my home in Kilmahog. The Annex is a lovely 2 bedroom self contained semi-detached bungalow with 1 double and 1 single bedroom, a bathroom with electric shower, full kitchen and good sized living room. The cozy living room includes a working Wood Burner. Wood available at cost.
  • We really enjoyed our holiday at the Annex. Exactly what we needed, a nice, quiet, lively spot with fantastic scenery where we could switch off for a couple of days. Very nice and well equipped, cosy house just outside of the town. Jim was very helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend!

  • No hesitation everything is ok for a good stay.

    Rodolphe2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely overnight stay here. The little annex was surprisingly roomy and comfy, and spotless. The big windows let in plenty of light and offered fantastic views of the surrounding country side. Check in was easy and the house was located minutes from a nice pub and good walk to the falls of Leny. Most of all we loved the little log burner that made it very memorable stay - would definitely recommend to others!

    Robin2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great weekend at The Annex. Would highly recommend it to anyone after a quiet get-away.

    Andrew2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jim was a great host. He was very quick to respond to all my questions and gave great local tips to help us make the most of our time. The annexe was very comfortable and in a great location.

    Patrick2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying in the Annexe. The location is excellent for visiting the Trossachs and beyond. We loved the cosy nights sitting in front of the log burner which was a real treat for us. We would love to stay there again.

Achray Farm is a working smallholding in the Trossachs, between Callander and Aberfoyle. In 2018 the Old Farmhouse was renovated to create bright, spacious accommodation whist retaining original features, along with a wood burning stove complimented by central biomass heating. Unlimited broadband finally arrived in late 2019. Our location is the perfect start for walking, cycling and touring the area right from the door and walking distance from the local pub.
We occupy an idyllic location within the National Park. The farm is on the Great Trossachs Path a two minute walk to the stunning Loch Achray and a few hundred meters (in the opposite direction) to the inn serving food. When staying on our smallholding you will be part of the farm for your stay. You would be welcome to join us for a walk down to the Loch with the goats. As well as biomass heating and hot water, we run solar PV for electricity topped up by a renewable energy tariff. The third bedroom can be configured as two single beds or as a double room. Broadband arrived in the village in late 2019 and is available at Achray Farm via the unlimited guest Wi-Fi! The farm is a developing modern smallholding with regenerative principles, we have an open gate policy and welcome the opportunity to explain our plans for development.
Brig o' Turk is a small, strong community. We have regular functions in the village hall and guests are welcome at yoga, coffee mornings and ceilidhs. The Trossachs and wider National Park are full of activities including walking, cycling, boating, fishing, birdwatching, treetop adventures and other pursuits. Restaurants are a-plenty. Stirling is 30 minutes away with Glasgow and Edinburgh beyond.
  • Nicola and Crispin were wonderful hosts. Their farmhouse was ideal for our 4 night stay in February. Their hospitality was outstanding and knowledge of walks in the local area a massive positive. We would certainly come back - and hopefully will!

    Dan2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely time staying at the Achray Farm oasis! From eating breakfast in the beautiful dining space while watching the ducks run around in the morning to cosying up by the wood burning stove and playing games in the evening, we only wished we could have stayed longer. Nicola & Crispin were great hosts and easy to communicate with. The farm is located in a good spot to explore Loch Lomond. We’d love to return someday!

    Michelle2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for 2 nights with 5 people. The house is spacious and clean, warm and cosy. The kitchen is well equipped and there’s a lovely dining room where you can eat your breakfast and watch the chickens. It rained all weekend but there were lots of board games to keep us busy. Nicola was very welcoming and provided lots of information about the local walks, cafes and restaurants. We hope to visit again in the summer to make the most of the area, the loch and the chimenea in the garden.

    Robyn2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Nicola and Crispin’s place is just wonderful. We all loved the goats, ducks and chickens. Super clean cottage, spacious, cosy with everything you could possibly need. Wonderful walks from the doorstep, my boys swam in the loch New Year’s Day Great start for 2020!

    Jo2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Nicola and Crispin have created something special in a beautiful part of the UK. And I can only imagine that it’s only going to get better over time. They were welcoming, kind and knowledgeable hosts. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel at home. This was our fourth National Forest style Christmas getaway from Cornwall, and probably the most memorable. Whilst Cornwall is beautiful, this part of the UK offers a completely different beauty. It takes tranquility to another level. At times Achray Farm and the Loch felt like being in your own private universe. We travelled with our children of 7, 8 and 11. The place gave them a safe place to explore outdoors during the day and games in the evening. Whilst having goats on their doorstep was fascinating, it was the chickens that stole the show. I’ve no doubt they’ll remember this Christmas for years to come. Although Achray Farm is tucked away, it’s location was perfect for exploring the Trossachs & Loch Lomond. Even Edinburgh was only a day trip away. The property itself is more spacious than photos suggest. Whilst it’s a renovation, it’s retained it character. Personally I think it has been modernised as far as it should be. Anything more (Eg massive TV, sky etc) would have compromised it’s charm. The place was spotless and we wanted for nothing. Which is no easy claim, travelling with 3 kids. Overall, the selfish side of me wants to keep this place a secret but the traveller in me wants others to know of it’s unique beauty.

    Carlos2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house is comfortable, well heated, the rooms are cozy, the kitchen is well organized, the farm is wonderfully well situated, in the heart of a splendid nature. Even goats and chickens frolic with a satisfied air. You can go for a walk in the house, the hosts are delicious! It's an excellent address!

  • The bothy is such a wonderful place. It’s perfect for when you need to get away from it all. Alison and Matthew were so welcoming and the bothy itself just has to be experienced. It has everything you need and is full of lovely little touches that let you know that your hosts have thought carefully about everything. The views are spectacular and even though we stayed in January the bothy was toasty warm; so cosy. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the bothy.

    Chris2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is perfect for a relaxing quiet get away. Alison and Mathew were lovely attentive hosts who were on hand when needed yet left us in privacy - the perfect balance. Check in was very smooth, friendly and helpful as was check out. The cabin is beautiful, everything you need for a relaxing few days, we got a peaceful sleep and using the shower was brilliant fun. It’s off grid as described which adds to the experience. As does seeing the farm animals. You can get a lift in the brilliant Kawasaki up to the bothy however it’s only a 5 mins walk from the main farm buildings so not too far. We had a great stay would def recommend and hope to stay again soon. Jill & Lyndsay.

  • From 7/27/2019 to 8/5, 8 nights, 3 couples + 3 men + 2 women helped. A group of enthusiasts who participated in an orienteering competition called Scottish 6 days, with an average age of 71 years. The venue is different for all six days and is 18 miles from Silvia's house on the near day and 61 miles on the farthest day. On the way home from the tournament, you can buy ingredients at the supermarket, prepare your own meals, and wash dirty competition wear. The Silvia House can be enjoyed by a large number of people. Silvia House is located in the eastern part of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, less than 2 hours' drive from Edinburgh Airport. This time, the purpose was to participate in the orienteering tournament, but if there is an opportunity, I would like to try trekking in the national park.

  • We are a party of 10, (6 adults and 4 young children) and have just completed a seven night stay in Dundarroch House. The well presented house offered ample comfort with room to spare and the grounds offer plenty of scope for real adventure or serene relaxation in exceptional surroundings with magnificent views. Even the the occasional rain did not dampen our enthusiasm for cycling, long walks, fishing ( children only) but our best adventures and relaxation were spent in the splendid private grounds which surround the house. It is a stunning house in a remarkable setting. It's hard to see how anyone may be disappointed with any aspect .

    Michael2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This house is beautiful and just as advertised. Ten of us have just had a fantastic week there, ages ranging from 4 to 62 and there was something for all of us. The children had the play room and a cosy room with a tv & DVD’s which they loved. For the adults there were open fires, and a living room we could all sit in once the children had gone to bed an play games or just chat. The grounds were perfect to let the children run loose and for us all to explore. They lead down to the river and up to the bridge where you can get on the road and do a circuit back to the house. There are so many walks for all abilities that you would need to stay there a year to cover them all. The house is clean and warm, there is a large kitchen that we cooked in more than once with plenty of pots, pans, crockery and anything else that you would need. The dining table was large enough for us all to sit around. The Byre Inn pub next door is very good, they do good food and even let us have the yurt to ourselves. They lit the log fire in there and set up a music system so that we could play our own music. It made celebrating my 60th birthday an our 40 wedding anniversary very special. Callander is a short distance away. It has lovely gift shops, takeaways, a Tesco, Co-Op and much more. There is a bakery opposite the fudge shop that does amazing pies. We had them heated up with veg one evening. They really were delicious. If you are lucky you will see red squirrels. We waited all week to see some and as we took our cases out to the car on the last day two were performing for us. Thank you Silvia for a memorable stay 😊

A cycling, walking, nature watching, fishing, canoeing heaven. Loch Venachar Cabins are set on the waters edge looking at the first of big hills of the Scottish highlands. The perfect retreat, our bespoke cabins are the ideal get away without having to go too far. An hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow, with usually no artificial light at night, this loch side setting in ancient woodland on a private estate is truly idyllic. Part of the national cycle route and easy access to pubs and restaurants.
Rowan Cabin - Larch clad on the outside and hardwood on the inside the long lodge has a snug, warm feeling to it, heightened by the crackling log burner. There is a bedroom with a super king size bed and a double sofa bed in the living area. The Long lodge is small but more than comfortable, with an open plan kitchen and living area. What it lacks in size inside, it more than makes up for with its glass front and huge breathtaking views.
There are lots of local sites to visit such as the Bracklyne falls or the Paddle Steamer SS Walter Scott. You can cycle to two pubs within 25mins and paddle in a canoe to the excellent Lochside for lunch or dinner. Fishing, pony trekking, hillwalking, water sports, nature walks, cycling are all readily available, for more information please see information packs in the lodges.

Cosy low lights and and a lit hearth in the evenings, lovely natural light and the enjoyable view out the windows at breakfast time (also delicious). Our room was impeccable. Trossachs Gate Cottage is a garden cottage in the centre of the picturesque village of Aberfoyle in the heart of The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park in Central Scotland. The Cottage comfortably sleeps 4 persons in 2 bedrooms (a twin and a double) and has a wood burning stove and parking. It is decorated and equipped to a high standard and has everything you will need for a relaxing holiday or short stay in the scenic area of The Trossachs.
The Cottage has 2 bedrooms, 1 double and a twin bed room. Built around the early 1900s as a stable building, it has formally been a meeting hall on the upper level and a chapel on the lower level! It has been tastefully updated and modernised by the present owners over the last 30 years. It is well equipped and decorated and is in a perfect location for exploring The Trossachs and beyond. Trossachs Gate Cottage is on the upper garden level and has oak flooring throughout, a wood burning stove in the living room and gas central heating. It is double glazed so is warm and cozy in the winter and quiet in the busy summer months. There is a well stocked garden with sunny seating areas and a Gazebo for outside dining with all tableware provided. The Gazebo has solar lighting and oil burning lamps to create a lovely dining ambience.
Aberfoyle is one of the gateway villages of the Trossachs and Loch Lomond National Park and is also the hub of the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and is just 5 minutes from the Forest Visitor Centre on the Dukes Pass where visitors can get lots of information about the area. We also have a Tourist Information Centre in The Main Street of Aberfoyle as well as a bank, Post Office, Pharmacy and a choice of pubs and places to eat. We are really a great base to see this scenic part of Scotland.
  • We had a great Christmas holiday in this house. We traveled with two small children (1 and 3), and it is a very nice stay at the cottage. Fully equipped, warm and cozy. The village of Aberfoyle is around the corner, supermarket and nice pub just steps away. In the other direction you walk straight into a nature reserve. The Lodge Forest visitor center is a short walk away and you can make all kinds of hiking trips, also a wonderfully easy short (for company with small children), with an impressive waterfall. Furthermore, Loch Lomond is nearby, Glasgow and Edinburgh, the castle of Stirling is amazing. All different trips that are easy to do from the cottage. Just a five-minute drive up Duke's Pass will take you to breathtaking landscapes with views of snow-capped mountain peaks. Both cottage and the area are a must!

  • Excellent accommodation in a lovely garden (with several nooks and crannies to enjoy at different times of the day). Every comfort catered for but if needed, all amenities within five minutes walking distance. Excellent delicatessen, ice cream and sweetie shop, bakery, pubs and shops in Aberfoyle. We were pleasantly surprised how good it all was and how many activities were just a stone’s throw from our base. Caroline and Joe are also a mine of information on where to go for your particular interest. Loved it!

  • Highly recommend

  • Fantastic cottage in a great location. Aberfoyle is a beautiful place to visit with loads to do if you love the outdoors. Caroline and Joe are excellent hosts they really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and their cottage is superb. We'll definitely be back!

  • What a lovely location. Co-op just round the corner and pubs in town all walking distance. Even a spa a couple of miles away. Walks from your doorstep and only 20 mins drive to Loch Lommand. Ideally situated for a holiday so much to see and do in the area. Aberfoyle is a town which is being regenerated with a fabulous bakery and many places to dine. The photos do not do the accommodation justice. Definitely five stars for accommodation, with high quality furnishings, bedding and very well equipped kitchen. Not to mention the log burner. The outside area is also well equipped for a bar- b-que. The hosts have thought of everything, including leaving bread, eggs, milk and a lovely vase of flowers. They were so helpful and welcoming and nothing too much trouble for them. Will be back.

  • Everything written before holds - very comfortable, 100% clean, well equipped, excellent base for exploring the area (actually quite wide area as it is close to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and obviously for the whole Lomond-Trossachs national park, even Glencoe is easily reachable for a whole one day trip). Caroline and Joe and very helpful but still keeping your privacy, excellent mix.

    Viktor2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline's place is beautiful and we felt right at home straight away. So much effort has gone into making sure that the cottage has everything that you could possibly need whether you're in the area for long walks, cycling, sitting out in the garden, or just some some rest, relaxation, and appreciating the beautiful scenery. Very clear instructions are provided about the facilities within the cottage (wood burning stove and our personal favour - the range cooker!) as well as information about the local area. It was great base for us to walk up Ben A'an and Ben Lomond, as well as driving around sampling the local tea and cake shops! This place really is a 'home away from home'. Very highly recommended

    Katherine2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Well Trossachs Gate ticked all the boxes, with Caroline and Joe as the most amazing hosts as well. Set in the gorgeous Loch Lomond and Trossachs (Little Highlands) National Park it was a great base to explore the area and Caroline and Joe had terrific suggestions. The trip down Loch Katrine in the SS Sir Walter Scott (c1900) on a perfect summers day was just beautiful and was capped off with lunch at the cafe. Another suggestion was a tour of Glengoyne Distillery only a short drive down the road. The most southern Highlands distillery with the interesting fact that whisky is distilled in the Highlands and aged in the Lowlands across the road! A great guided tour with knowledgeable and entertaining guides who are passionate about their distillery and whisky. We wish we had stayed longer in lovely Aberfoyle and will happily return in the future to lovely, comfortable accommodation with the best equipped kitchen we’ve had and fabulous hosts!

Spectacular views, beautiful and peaceful spot, just take care when driving up the single track road. Properties look lovely we had a short stay in Merlin which was perfect for the tine we needed it. Lovely thoughtful touches on arrival and super comfy bed. Highly recommend, and an easy 10 min taxi ride away from Nick Nairn’s cook school - local taxi can be booked no problem. • Merlin is a beautiful and cosy apartment for a trip to Lake of Menteith. There are many possibilities to visit other Lochs, Waterfalls or Scottish small towns in the area, but a car is definetly recommendable. Very kind and helpful hosts - thank you!!

  • I only have one regret with booking here, and that is that I didn't book longer. What an incredibly beautiful stay we had. Incredibly clean, luxurious, so much thought has gone into the design of the suite. I contacted Alison for some personal touches to the room and she gladly helped which I'm thankful for. I wish I'd had the chance to book for longer to enjoy the rest of their land and animals, and the room! Lovely breakfast available and felt like a home from home. Highly highly recommend.

  • Netherglenny Farm was an absolute gem. Beautiful location overlooking the lake. The farm tour got up close and personal with the friends and animals of the farm. Super informative as well! I stayed in the Merlin cottage and it was cozy, clean, and just adorable. Would love to return for a longer time! The hosts were warm and welcoming and all my meals were delivered to my door :) ‘Twas a dream...

*Covid-19 update below* Woodend Cottage is a historic bothy attached to our farmhouse in the Trossachs National Park, perfect for couples and small families. Nestled in a cliffy corner by the ancient Duchalton Oak Wood, the cottage is remote enough to feel off the beaten track but close enough to easily explore the beautiful surroundings. The cottage has one double room, one small single, a bathroom with shower and an open plan kitchen & living room.
*Covid-19 update: we unfortunately won't be able to host until further notice. We look forward to welcoming in the future when we'll all be in need of a really good holiday!* To the South, we have vistas across Flander’s moss - one of Scotland’s last and protected great bogs - to the Campsie, Fintry and Gargunnock Fells, terminating on the West end by the volcanic plug Dumgoyne. To the North we see the Menteith hills (known to us as the 3 Sleeping Giants) and the North West we can peer into the wooded Forth Valley to Ben Lomond where the mighty River Forth originates. Sit in peace in the large garden and enjoy walks through the woods & meadows behind the cottage where you can spot red squirrels, deer and lots of birds. Come & enjoy our cosy rustic cottage deep in the countryside.
  • We had a lovely stay: the location is wonderful, and great for a secluded weekend away. The open fire is a really nice feature, and is stocked with plenty of firewood! The hosts were very kind, and had plenty of local knowledge which helped us get the best of our stay

  • Woodend Cottage is even lovelier than it appears on the website. All cottage amenities and the extremely convenient location are accurately described, however there are many extra personal touches which make it much more homely than expected. The hosts are excellent, communicating well, and are very helpful with local advice. It would be difficult not to enjoy a stay at Woodend Cottage!

  • Chara’s cottage was wonderful. A great place for us to stay with some friends. Chara was super helpful and responsive, the property was clean and had everything we needed, and in addition it had some beautiful scenery of the river! Thank you Chara !!

    James2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Chara’s cottage is just outside Callander and at the foot of the first of the Trossachs’ wee mountains. It’s a beautiful area and perfect for those who like the outdoors. We were there for a long weekend and only started on all the many walks and other land - and river and loch and air - activities we could have chosen. “Wee mountains”? Ideal shape and heights for children starting off … Ben A’an and Ben Ledi for instance, both a short distance from the cottage, look like real big mountains - with steep bits and rocks and gullies. and super views all the way up - but are of a size that children (and their carriers, and those of greater maturity) can handle. The cottage itself and its garden are right by a proper river, and though it backs onto a main road, that goes unnoticed. The accommodation is very comfortable - we went on a sunny weekend but I can imagine it being snug on a winter’s night. And good for cooking too - we managed a brunch for 10 in the kitchen. Decent food shops (Coop and Tesco plus butchers and super bread shop - try the terrific tattle scones as we all as the stoneground walnut bread) plus the usual Highland wool mills etc in Callander a mile away. And whisky.

  • Penny and Ian were the perfect hosts to start our first anniversary trip through Scotland with! After 2 delayed flights, it was so refreshing to be welcomed by the couple and their wonderful hospitality- tour, cookies, tea, and local recommendations. We were only in town for one night but they set us up for success by recommending local pub for dinner, hikes in the morning, and the amazing home cooked breakfast before we left for the day. Highly recommend and one of our favorite Airbnb experiences. Lovely people to get to meet and wouldn’t hesitate in coming back- thank you so much!!!!

If you are looking for a holiday in Scotland or a short break then The Hayloft is set amidst the beautiful, unspoiled Trossachs countryside at the heart of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The Hayloft self catering holiday accommodation offers a cosy annex which sleeps 4 persons where you can escape from the pace of modern life, slow down and unwind. Enjoy wild scenery and wildlife, good food in welcoming restaurants and shops in The Trossachs villages. The Victorian owners of Forth House used the hayloft as storage for feed for the horses stabled below. These horses were needed to pull the family's carriages. A recent imaginative conversion means that The Hayloft now provides modern, comfortable, cosy, self-contained, holiday accommodation. The Living Room with views to the garden, has a comfortable sofa and chairs. The TV (FreeSat) and DVD, Hifi and CD player, books and maps, and some games will help you enjoy your stay. The Kitchen cum dining area is fully equipped with ample appliances, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Sorry no dishwasher ..... bring your own human dishwasher! The first bedroom has a double bedroom. Bedside tables with drawers and a built in wardrobe with shelves provide ample storage space. The second bedroom has bunk beds - see photos. French doors open onto a patio and secluded garden with an ancient woodland beyond. This woodland is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is home to a rich variety of animals and plants. Guests have been excited to see red squirrel, pine martin and deer, and birds such as woodpeckers, jays, many varieties of tits, including long tailed tits, and finches, robins and wrens are regular visitors to the feeders and the garden. Buzzards and peregrine may be seen overhead. Within a 10 minute walk, you can be deep in the woods of The Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Discover tumbling rivers and crystal clear streams, and the traffic free south shore of quiet Loch Ard. Follow the roads deeper into the forest and you will be rewarded with tranquility, spectacular views and a rich variety of plant and animal life. Whether at the height of summer or the depth of winter, the scenery is breathtaking! And if you enjoy cycling there are miles of tracks and routes to explore. It's only one mile into the village where there are shops, pubs and cafes. There's bus transport from here too. There's Go Ape, an outdoor adventure centre at the David Marshall Centre and canoe and bike rental at Loch Ard. For energetic hill walkers, Ben Lomond, Ben Venue and Ben Ledi are close by, with many other Munros(mountains over 3000 ft) and Corbetts (over 2500ft) within easy reach. Ben A'an is a good starter hill walk for youngsters who will be rewarded with spectacular views over Loch Katrine at the summit. Canoeing in lochs and on rivers, fishing, bird watching quietly in a boat, dingy sailing on Loch Ard and Loch Venachar or sailing on the historic SS Sir Walter Scott or The Lady of The Lake on Loch Katrine. These are just a few of the opportunities for enjoying all that The Trossachs, land of sparkling lochs and quiet and rushing rivers. Whether you enjoy fishing on quiet lochs or trying your luck on on the Forth or the Teith you will not be disappointed. Fish for wild brown trout on woodland lochs, or rainbow trout on the well stocked Lake of Menteith (only Lake in Scotland!). Salmon and Sea Trout are returning in greater numbers, and Pike fishing is very popular throughout The Trossachs too. Golf courses may be found in many Trossachs communities. The 18 hole Aberfoyle course will test your golfing prowess but with stunning views to Ben Lomond, across Flanders Moss and as far away to Stirling and The Wallace Monument it's worth a game! Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park aims to preserve the wild habits to encourage and protect the wildlife living in this spectacular area. Red deer, red squirrel, Golden eagles, Ospreys, buzzards thrive here but these are not the only animals to be found. Wild flowers and other plants of special interest find their own niches, from the bogs of Flanders Moss, in the woodlands and to the tops of the mountains of The Trossachs. Knights Templar, Rob Roy, Jacobites,Queen Victoria, Sir Walter Scott, General Wade, Thomas Cook .. famous folk who, realising the beauty and bounty of the Trossachs, have lived in or visited The Trossachs. Stirling and Doune Castle, the Wallace Monument, the Victorian architecture of the aqueduct taking water from Loch Katrine to Glasgow 26 miles away, are all worth exploring. Edinburgh is just over one hour away. It's a cosy, comfortable place to stay, with easy access to the wonderful scenery of the Trossachs. The Hayloft is best suited to a couple or a family with children. Note: during peak times (ie Summer) the 3 night offer does not apply and we require bookings for a full week.
