  • Judith's cottage was the perfect weekend getaway, exactly as described, impeccably clean, and fully outfitted with everything you need for a cozy weekend in! If you enjoy cooking, you'll appreciate the complete set of pots, pans, knives, and appliances big and small, plus cooking basics like olive oil, salt, and pepper. Relax with a movie from the DVD collection. Sip a glass of wine on the porch swing while you enjoy the country air. Borrow a book for the weekend, or take it home by leaving a couple bucks or a book of your own in exchange. Judith and her beautiful dog Sheba greeted us at the door and made sure we had everything we needed. I look forward to returning to the Mooresville Guest House again soon!

  • Judy was a fabulous host and the guesthouse was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The guesthouse was very neat and clean. It is very nicely decorated and has everything you need including kitchen supplies for any cooking you want to do. The front porch is inviting, a great place to enjoy the quiet of the rural location. Rural Missouri Gem is a very apt description.

  • Friendly, inviting, warm, hospitable: that is your host Judy! Clean, cozy, quiet, secluded, comfortable, everything you need (including a porch swing!): that is the Missouri Gem guest house!! Did I mention it is not far from Missouri Star Quilts too?? - side bonus!! Loved our stay here!!

    Kay2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and everything you could want in a stay and a host. Judy is so kind. My husband and I stayed over the eclipse viewing weekend and their is nothing we would have changed about her cabin, it's perfect.

    Patty2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Mooresville guest house is beautiful and so peaceful! MSQC being just a short drive away was a plus. Judy is a super fantastic hostess! Enjoyed our weekend immensely!

  • I cannot say enough about Judy and the Mooresville guest house. The accommodations were much nicer than what we expected. Judy was awesome and provided everything and anything we needed. We are already making plans to come back next year.

    Sean2016-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very lovely, spacious and comfortable - has everything, all very helpful and clear. You might call it a cabin but you really cant, not with all that space and a 12 foot ceiling. We wanted a place that would feel quiet and remote and natural and it did that. The stars were brilliant.

  • Judi and her husband have created a wonderful little home away from home. We truly enjoyed our time in the area and at the guest house. Highly recommend the Moorseville Guest House. Judi was very helpful in helping with information about the surrounding area and excellent in communications. Thank you for a fun and memorable trip. We would love to stay there again sometime soon.

    Rural Missouri Gem!
    35 reviews
Close to Amish shops, LDS Church History, great hunting, hiking, fishing, Kansas City/St. Joseph, Missouri Star Quilt Co. and more. Nestled on 18 wooded acres. Family friendly but also perfect for couples getaway or friends get-together. Wifi, 6 TVs, satellite w/ sports package, video/board games, foosball, bar, leather couches, w/d, yard area, outdoor games, fire pit & more. Space for tents. Also, there's a house adjacent to the cabin we're remodeling to hopefully rent during summer 2018.
Woods Crossing is located just outside of Lock Springs, MO, conveniently between Chillicothe and Jamesport, the largest Amish community in the state. The facility is nestled on 13 acres of wooded land, full of bright stars and peaceful countryside. The facility sleeps 8 with a full bathroom and shower, washer and dryer, kitchen, tables and chairs, bar with seating, leather couches and recliner. There's free WiFi, 6 TVs with satellite and sports package, video games, board games, foosball and more. There is also a large yard area for outdoor games, a basketball hoop, a horseshoe area and other sports equipment available.
The cabin at Woods Crossing is practically invisible from the highway with no neighbors' homes in sight. It is farm country so you might hear the occasional cow or tractor. And there are train tracks about a mile away; the train can be heard in the distance a few times a day.
  • Staying here was great! Better than we even expected. Very cozy place, and the Woods are incredibly helpful! The place had everything we needed for a nice, quiet weekend getaway. I would definitely recommend staying here.

    Forest2016-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! We loved the seclusion, the decor, the comfortable beds, the great kitchen, and the game cupboard. We only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it more!

    Emily2016-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Was exactly as pictured. A bit hard to find but was well worth the adventure in finding it. Great attention to detail down to the scentsy warmers. The only downside would have been to have the grass cut so we could enjoy the property outside. Would recommend and hope to stay again sometime.

    Pat2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This property was perfect! The hosts really thought of everything! They were quick to respond and exceeded our high expectations! If you are looking for a quiet, remote, secluded getaway then Woods Crossing is the place for you! They have all of the modern amenities you expect as well. Too many thoughtful touches to mention them all! Great hosts and property! We will be back!

  • We loved this place. I came to town to visit Missouri Star Quilting and my kids did not run out of stuff to do when they stayed back at the house with my husband. It probably was one of the best houses we have stayed in to provide entertainment for the kids. The only issue we had is we bought steaks before we realized there was not a grill; however, we did find a cast iron grill pan so it wasn't a loss.

    Jennifer2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • This location was even better than described. The perfect spot for a weekend getaway with friends. Really enjoyed the "tavern" like feel the inside had. It was a great spot to play cards, relax, and chat. This location was incredibly clean and well maintained. I would definitely come back here.

    Josh2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Woods Crossing. A quiet peaceful place, well furnished, and beautifully decorated. Enjoyed sitting out at night because the stars were magnificent!! We plan to return again to Woods Crossing.

If you're traveling to the quaint small town of Hamilton ("Quilt Town, USA") to visit the Missouri Star Quilt Company, or for another reason, we would love for you to stay with us. We're two miles from Hamilton, about 30 miles from Jamesport (an Amish community), and 60 miles from KC. You’ll love our place for the peace and quiet, and close proximity to Hamilton and surrounding towns. Our farmhouse is on 40 acres of gently-rolling hills, with a beautiful 5-acre pond and a treed property line.
** Please note - I have blocked off my calendar for November and December, due to many personal commitments. I don't believe I can keep my house in guest-ready condition. However, if you are unable to find other accommodations, please message me. Depending on your needs (and ability to overlook dust), I may be able to unblock a night or two for you. Our spacious guest room was redecorated in late 2016. Fresh paint on walls and trim, new bedding, decor, etc., will ensure a comfortable, restful stay. The bathroom has a new shower and paint, and the landing has a comfy chair near the coffee maker, allowing people traveling together to find their own space. These are the only finished spaces on the second floor of our home, and you'll need to climb a full flight of stairs to get there. This is the perfect place to unplug and unwind. The guest room is stocked with a selection of books, games, jigsaw puzzles, and even an adult coloring book and markers! Wi-Fi is available, but slow, and there is no TV in the room. The queen bed is a Select Comfort (now called Sleep Number), and is adjustable on both sides to individual preferences. You can make one side of the bed firm and the other soft, if needed. The twin bed is from Ikea, and is somewhat firm. Because I am picky about pillows, we offer a variety for you to choose from. They all have allergen covers which will be washed frequently. Even the removable covers on the decorator pillows will be washed frequently for your protection. We have a single-serve coffee maker (not the pod kind), along with hot chocolate mix, a few tea bags, and some snack bars and bite-sized candies ready for you. I'll be happy to provide your choice of breakfast food and beverage, too, as long as it doesn't require me to cook. (You wouldn't like that!)
We're in the country, just about two miles from Hamilton. Our home is on a beautiful 40 acres, with a large pond and trees around the perimeter of the property. Our road is gravel, and we're about 1/2 mile off blacktop. There is a fair amount of traffic that goes by, and on a dry day the dust can be a bit annoying when you're outside and near the house. (If you have severe allergies, this might be important to know.)
  • Very peaceful place to spend time and get away. I loved it and will go back!!

    Kim2017-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay and be close to the town of Hamilton. Very relaxing to be able to sit on her back porch and talk with our hostess. Clean room with two comfortable beds and private bath. We would stay there again if we are our out this way again. An Oregon guest

  • Kelly's place is out in a lovely rural area. She lives in old well restored farmhouse and we had the whole upstairs to ourselves with every sweet accommodation you can think of.

    Louise2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy clean upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Very Clean! Nice setting with walking path around the pond. Communicate your needs with Kelli. She was very welcoming and She is very willing to oblige.

    Mary2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kelli and Vic are awesome folks with a great story! Take a minute to talk to Vic about his shooting range and the journey that he has been on while creating a great venue for the sportsman who enjoys long range shooting. Our room was great, the view of the pond from the swing was fabulous and visiting with Kelli and Vic was the highlight of our evening! Great place to stay (and play) in Hamilton Missouri!

    Donna2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely quiet place to stay. We stopped while visiting the Missouri Star Quilt Co in Hamilton and found it the perfect location. Wish we could have stayed longer. Beautiful comfortable room with absolutely every detail provided. Breakfast supplies on hand and a beautiful kitchen to use to prepare your own meal. Kelli was helpful with the booking which got a little confused and also with directions. I'd give her more stars if possible!!

    Maryethel2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were gracious and accommodating and couldn't do enough for me. I certainly felt at home. The room was clean, warm and inviting. I highly recommend Kelli’s place to anyone visiting the area!

    Robert2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Kelli's house and would definitely recommend staying here! Kelli is so friendly and welcoming, and very easy to communicate with. The room is spacious, clean, and private, and the bed is really comfortable. Kelli has put a lot of thought into the details to make this a special stay: breakfast, snacks, coffee, among many other things. The farm is beautiful and quiet, but it's also at a great location that's close to the highway. Thanks again!

Nice quiet neighborhood in a small town. Six blocks from downtown, nice little playground 1 block away, Simpson park is about a mile away. Nothing in Chillicothe is too far from my place.
  • Sheri was a great host. My sister and I were very pleased with everything. We were free to cook sew and have a quiet place to rest. We look forward to coming again.

Located in Kingston, we have great local library and historical sites. Just 7 miles from Hamilton with quilting, shopping and restaurants and 45-50 minutes to Liberty, Kansas City and Saint Joe . Classic foursquare design with add-on. Many beautiful original features are still present. Big kitchen with breakfast table. Floor heat in main room with heaters in bedrooms. Bath is small but does have tub. Home is work in progress so somethings not as finished but totally functional and kid friendly.
With cooler weather arriving if you plan on bringing your doggies we need current health cert BEFORE your arrive please and if your not familial with Oriental Beetles and Box Elder they have started to move in, we will continue to spray but warm days and cold night make them move... bonus of old houses just be aware you may have a few extra guests. The house is made up of two floor with one big bedroom upstairs and one smaller one with a library landing at the top of the narrow stairs. The downstairs has living/dining room and small corner room next to stairs. The kitchen, bathroom and laundry were added later. Originally build for the doctor in town, it and the church across the street made up the "hospital" in the area during the civil war.
Kingston is a very old town with broad streets, great for walking. Many of the buildings and houses are old and fun to look at. There is a little museum in town, the county's court house with original jail next door and local school building. Missouri Star Quilt Company is 7 miles up the road in Hamilton which also boasts a swimming pool with water slide, several restaurants, a micro-brewery and grocery store. Also 7 miles from Far West, with dozens of historical sites within an hour.
  • Love staying here. Home away from home.

  • Awesome place. Second time staying here! We will be back! Love all the stars in the sky and the sounds of the country. Very relaxing and a terrific host!

    Tammy2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The big bonus was that this farmhouse was only 7 miles away from the Missouri Star Quilt Company. It was clean. The stairs looked steep in the photos, so I asked if an additional bed could be brought downstairs, so we could stay on only the main level. That was nice. The beds were way too hard and uncomfortable for us and the cool air did not reach either of our beds at night, so we were hot. I didn't not contact Melissa about these issues, because I didn't think there was anything they could do to remedy the situation. We were there to sleep and eat breakfast only. The kitchen was nice and had a window ac unit, which kept the area cool. It had a coffee maker, toaster, stove, counter space, dishwasher, sink and frig. We had an issue with moths, fruit flies and flies in general. I think with some cosmetic changes, fans and comfy mattresses this could be a good choice for the area.

    Jamie2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an issue and Melissa took care of it quickly

    Shawn2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were pleased to stay here. The description is exactly as what was presented and what I expected. It is an old house and a work in progress, with its own quirks, and it was just fine for my husband, 3 kids, and me. Guests should know before booking that it is exactly as described. If you are seeking shine and tons of amenities, you might be disappointed, but we felt like it was aptly described and it worked well for us. Our biggest need was the location, as we were visiting family in Braymer (just 15 min or so down the road). Knowing the area from my youth, I knew there was nothing like this around for several miles, so I was ecstatic for the location. The extra touches and excellent communication was very appreciated by my family. There was bug spray available for outside adventure, we were able to use a baby gate and toy cars and books were very appreciated by my kids. The fridge was thoughtfully stocked with items. This is my first personal AirBNB experience that I booked, and I think that the good communication and thoughtfulness of Melissa and Carolyn has set a high bar for my expectations of a host.

    Amy2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I love old homes and discovering local history as we travel, so staying at Melissa's place was a delight for our get away adventure during the solar eclipse. As she says in her description, this pre-civil war home is a "work in progress". Much has been restored and freshly painted in the home, and although there is always more work to be done in old homes, this one is in very good shape. The home is located in Kingston, a small quiet town, which is great for walking. It is very near other towns with great eateries (try J's Burger Dive!) and interesting shops. The home isn't very far from the interstate, and that makes this place a great stay for travelers who want a great stay that is more homey and more of a vacation or treat during their journey. It's apparent that Melissa is very attentive to the needs of her guests. Her communication was excellent and positive. Many of the kitchen appliances are brand new (or like new). The furnishings are comfortable and cozy. I especially love the oak breakfast nook in the large kitchen. There is a fenced back yard with a small play set for children. It is peaceful and quiet in Kingston, and a good sleep is easy here. We visited some shops and eateries in nearby towns, but, in the main, we stuck close to the house. It's lovely to just sit in the front porch swing. In our estimation, the home would easily accommodate seven people, and it would be great for a family with children. Be aware, however, that the stairs to access the sleeping spaces (for all but one person) are quite steep and narrow, and the bathroom is downstairs. This was not an issue for us--a relatively typical middle aged couple. We enjoyed our stay, and we think this place is great for a variety of travelers. Thanks for a great stay, Melissa! We hope to visit again!

  • This place was really special. We are dirtbikers and back country camping folks. The ATV noise and schedule is something we are used to, but we were day tripping anyway. Plenty of LED lighting and a propane lantern made our headlamps un-needed. The air mattress beds were firm and DID NOT LEAK in 3 nights. The cabin was bigger than it looks and decked out with a cool western cattle/cowboy/hunting theme. It was very interesting to look at all the horse tack, and big buck skull mounts, etc. Eclipse Monday was very quiet and the clouds opened up during totality and gave us some wonderful life memories. 2 nights of heavy storms and we felt safe and snug in the cabin with enough room for our nephew to come from his tent and sleep in the loft. When we travel this way again we will certainly be back. Primitive car camping made much more comfortable.

Enjoy the lake, fishing, and quiet of Lake Viking while visiting the sites of the area. Couples visiting for quilting classes in Hamilton, Adam-ondi-Ahman, Haun's Mill, the Amish community in Jamesport, or the attactions of Kansas City can easily and quickly get to this quiet lake in 30 to 60 minutes. The home comes furnished with a jon boat, trolling motor, and basic fishing gear. Bring your favorite tackle and enjoy a day on the lake while your spouse their day.
Our lake house sets on two lots on the lake with direct access to the water. There is a dock and our family boat will be moored there (sorry....not for your use). The fishing boat will in the water and ready for your use....weather providing. We will provide a map in the house outlining the property. There are other property owners on both sides and we want to be sure to respect their property.
Lake Viking is a 650 acre private lake. It is located about 3 miles east of I-35, just north of HWY 6. It is very important to us that all guests respect the lake and our neighbors and their property.
  • I would of absolutely loved to have stayed at this place as a kid with my friends and family. A cabin completely set up for a “camping” trip on the lake. Didn’t get to stay long due to business, but Howard’s place would be a great place to enjoy for a week.

    Autumn2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding lake chalet! The pictures absolutely do not do justice to the incredible interior which is so roomy and inviting. At every turn there is another fabulous space that beckons you to curl up with a book or gather with friends. The layout is wonderful and the furnishings are everything.

    Suzanne2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Howard's lake house was a cozy and comfortable retreat on the chilly weekend we were there. It is spacious and clean. Howard kept in touch and had everything ready for us. It is a bit of a drive to Hamilton where Missouri Star Quilt Co is located. But we planned with that in mind and staying at Howard's was worth the drive and a much better option than the area hotels. I especially enjoyed the fireplace that ignited with the flick of a switch!

  • This place is absolutely AMAZING. We have enjoyed our time here SO much! It is very spacious, offers plenty opportunities for family time, and the setting is beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch with lake view and sip some wines for surrounding vineyards. Some of us even went out on the lake with the boat that Howard provided. Check in and out was very easy and the communication was great. This is a gen of a spot... it had so much to offer and the price is unbeatable!!! Thank you again!!

    julianna2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed are stay. It was relaxing, clean and we liked it so well we stayed longer than we planned on. The communication was great also and they did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable.

    Des2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very large for big families and close to a lake. We didn't use the lake at all, so can't speak to that. Howard was a great hosts and responded quickly to any concerns we had. There were no deadbolts on the entire house, which made us a little nervous, especially in a secluded area with little kids. Bed was comfortable and worked fine for what we needed.

  • Terri was super friendly, and the room was clean and fresh. I would definitely stay here again.

  • This was such a nice place to stay. The cottage has an open floor plan with a great amount of space, and the little TV even has good cable to watch. The kitchen is stocked with dishes and silverware to use and cookware as well. The fridge is a good size, so you can stock it with plenty of food for your stay. The lake is beautiful, and it's a nice walk to go down by the water. Such a neat place!

    Tyler2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay with Terri! She was a gracious and kind host and sought to make us as comfortable as possible! The room was nice, clean, and well decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • This was a great little cottage to stay in for a couple of nights while visiting family for the holidays. It was a little tricky to find by the address, but once we figured out the landmarks and which building on the property we were going to, no problem. We were missing a few basic items (shampoo, hairdryer), but nothing we couldn't live without for the short time we were there.

    Kim2016-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Terri has been wonderful. Everything about this property has been amazing. It has worked out perfectly for me. What was advertised is accurate plus more.

This is more than a place to stay! My family and friends have come together to make the Total Solar Eclipse must see event. My Dad and his wife, Cheri, call the farm their little slice of heaven. Dad told us that there is nothing like the peace and quiet at the farm. Moreover, the stars fill the sky. (So bring your telescope to gaze at the stars during the night.) Space to park your RV or ten! Nightly bonfire! W/ some meals! Bring your lawn chairs, bug spray and sturdy shoes! Outdoor games!
Because we are out in the sticks, we are including real meals. We will be providing a simple supper on Friday night. Then we will have Breakfast on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday mornings. We will have supper on Saturday. Kansas City is famous for barbeque. We are pulling out all the stops and we will have a big barbeque on Sunday night. Big events are scheduled for the whole weekend in St. Joseph, Cameron, Lathorp (all 1/2 hour away) and Kansas City (just over 1 hour away. We are also only 1/2 hour away from Hamilton (big quilting town) and Jamesport (the heart of the Amish country in Missouri). If you love Mark Twain, we are 2 hours away from Hannibal, Missouri. There are two race tracks within 10 miles away. (I don't know if there are races this weekend or not. I will update as I find out.)
We are in the sticks. Yes there are fields all around us. It is very quiet. The light pollution is limited so the stars are very bright. All of the neighbors will be watching out for us

We live on 36 acres in the rolling hills of MO, just 30 minutes north of Kansas City. We are a small family farm, with a nice variety of farm animals on hand. The wife is a massage therapist, only charging $45 for 60 min.
Basically, renting our guest room, private 1/2 bath with queen size bed. Plenty of floor space for kids, $5 ea. Some exra bedding available, recommend bringing sleeping bag for them.
36 acres of rolling hills in rural Missouri, about 30 minutes north of Kansas City. We have 3 ponds on our acreage. . We are near 2 state parks for other recreation.
  • Great farmhouse stay with modest accommodations as expected on a busy working farm. The variety of animals was great and the hosts were very willing to answer any questions we had about the different lovely animals!

    Mark2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We chose Janel's place hoping to wake up on a farm to the sound of roosters crowing and to be surrounded by animals needing their morning chores attended to, and we were happily satisfied! Upon arrival, we were greeted by Duke, a neighbor German Shepard with a warm and friendly disposition. Then we met Patch and Sadie, lovable big dogs who love attention. Cats don't ordinarily warm up to me as they can tell I'm a dog lover, but even the cat came over and let me rub its neck and behaved as if we had always lived there. My wife got to milk a goat for the first time in her life, something she always wanted to do, and the animals knew the routine so well, it was effortless. There are beautiful peacocks, goats, chicken, roosters, and other animals happily coexisting on a very large acreage. If you are looking for a relaxing taste of farm life with warm hearted hosts, this is the place to stay. We will be back on our next van trip.

    Pam2017-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice people; their hospitality was great. I choose it as the location for viewing the eclipse, and it didn't disappoint. It's a farm and smells like it, so if you have a sensitive nose, please be advised. Other than that, it was fun to be part of farm life.

    Debbie2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Janel welcomed us warmly. She gave us lots of ideas for places to go or visit even after we left there. The children are so polite. I will say that you MUST love critters if you want to stay here. They have a lot of cats and dogs that come inside. They are very friendly and do not cause problems - unless you are allergic, which we are not. They truly have a menagerie of animals on their farm. They are in the process of building and renovating, so it is in a less than ideal state. Other than that, though, you will get a warm welcome.

    Doreen & Bill2016-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very easy to work with.

    steve2017-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our 2-night stay at this working family farm located in the lovely rolling hills of Northern Missouri. Our relaxed and friendly hosts and their two children made us feel as comfortable and welcome as family. They also provided excellent suggestions for things to see in nearby Kansas City. The WWI National Museum and Memorial, for instance, is a definite must-see if you're a history buff. And the Wabash BBQ restaurant in Excelsior Springs is excellent. It was fun to see all the animals and exotic fowl on this farm and relax by the pond. This is a great place to stay if you love big, friendly dogs and cats, and the kittens we cuddled were a sweet bonus.

    Jim2017-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • When you first arrive on the property, critters of all sorts rush to greet you, seeking your attention. And speaking of attention, that given by the host, hostess, and kids was top notch. They provided a clean private room, two chef-made meals, a coconut-butter Swedish massage, and good old Midwestern hospitality, all for less than $100. What a nice, relaxing experience. I need to go back!

    Kevin2016-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a out of the way place that is quaint with a lovely pond, friendly people and cute pets. I enjoyed it because it was out in the country and very quiet except for animal noises which I enjoy. Janel and her family are wonderful people and I enjoyed my time with them, Close by there is sight seeing at the Watkins Mill and the birthplace of Jesse James. Also, the town of Excelsior Springs is lovely. If you are looking to get away for a few days, this is the place to be.

If I was back in the area, I would definitely make arrangements to stay again!

  • This is a great bed and breakfast. Abbie and Joe did everything possible to make sure I had everything I needed. The neighborhood is nice and I felt very comfortable walking around. Restaurants are very limited but that is what you get in a small town. Restaurants close after lunch and the only one that wasn't fast food was closed on vacation for the week. I was there on business and had everything I needed to have a great week!

ORCHARD HILL is a beautiful 6500 sf house set on 80 acres of rolling hills. We are set apart from all our neighbors so that there is complete privacy and solitude. We operated the property as a B&B for 5 years but now are offering the house as a venue for weddings, events, family reunions, and other gatherings. The house sleeps 14 people in the beds provided but additional guests can be accommodated on couches or air mattresses. There are 5 ½ baths in the house and plenty of parking.
  • Orchard Hill was a perfect location for nursing friends to gather for a weekend of stories, laughter and relaxation. The house was fantastic with 5 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths, 2 large comfortable living spaces, a fully stocked kitchen large enough for all 6 of us to work comfortably in, and 2 dining areas. The beds were all very comfortable. We loved having a piano and music, games and a library. The huge yard is gorgeous, and the flower gardens perfectly manicured. Hummingbirds were spotted several times. The gazebo was perfect for reading on a drizzly Saturday afternoon. We made a drive into KC for a baseball game, but for special meals went to Excelsior Springs to Wabash BBQ--Excellent!! Ted was prompt in response to my email questions and a pleasure to work with. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your magnificent home, Ted!!!

    Millie2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is HUGE! We have 3 kids and 2 toddlers, and they had a great time just by running around the house or playing in the back yard. We even helped ourselves to a few fresh peaches picked right from the trees. Awesome experience that we are sure will reminisce years from now. Thank you, Ted, for being such a gracious host.

    Khiem2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! We had 12 guys out there and everyone was able to spread out throughout the house and sleep in their own areas. The kitchen was very open and the house itself was able to hold all 12 of us very easily. It didn't seem like we were packed in the house or over crowded at all. We all loved this place and spent most of our Saturday outside on the patio or in the Gazebo enjoying being outdoors. It was the perfect home away from home and a great location for a vacation!

    Colton2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place has plenty of room for all guests and 5 full bathrooms. The location is very secluded which allows you to not worry about being too noisy for the neighbors. Great patio for large groups.

    Garrett2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We rented orchard hill for a reunion of 4 friends and our now extended families. Overall 7 adults and 4 kids (2 under 2.) The home and property are beautiful, but left a little to be desired from the photos. There are missing outlet covers, open wires, doors that don't close and bugs and dust. However, the space is amazing for large groups, and it's not a far drive to Kansas City. The kitchen was well accomodated, beds were super comfy and the kids had plenty of tv options. I expected bugs since we were in the country, but We had an issue with ants in the kitchen and ticks when we sat under the gazebo.

    Keri2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Orchard Hill was perfect for our weekend girls retreat! There were 10 of us and 2 babies and plenty of room to spread out and so very comfortable! It's in such a beautiful setting outside of town and was very peaceful and pretty! Ted was a wonderful host. Very easy to communicate with and answered all of our questions promptly! He even went out of his way to help the speaker for our retreat get her notes printed! He was accommodating in every way! We highly recommend Orchard Hill!

This is a nice, rustic cabin located out in the country in a calm quiet atmosphere. Located a short drive from Bethany MO with access to everything you would need. There is plenty of countryside to explore as well as farm pond great for fishing about 100 yards from the back door. Great place to experience the country life and get away for a few days.
  • The lodge was in a perfect location. Very secluded with a fun outdoor space. Inside was clean & roomy. There were games & toys for the kids in one of the closets that helped pass the time while we were there. We enjoyed the swings and the fire pit on the back deck too. Check in was simple & Scott was easy to communicate with!

  • Remote location was perfect with a relaxing feel - views of nature and wildlife completely envelope you, all while being just off a paved road. The lodge had an inviting ambiance, very roomy, and extremely beautiful. Bunk room delighted the children since we were all able to room together during our mini family reunion! Delightful experience, location, and hosts... we even had homemade cookies waiting for us! Hosts were communicative both remote and in person. Simply an astounding place!

Large trees, plenty of shade, the night sky is amazing! Back deck perfect with propane firepit and huge grill. Inside has been fully remodeled. Beds were comfy and clean. Picture window in the living room is amazing. Bunk room in the back of the house has huge TV and love sacs. Highly recommend!

Beautiful 1917 craftsman with hardwood floors, stone accents, & charming decor. Fully equipped kitchen for light cooking. Enjoy Keurig coffee/tea, water, juice, bagels, fruit, and snacks. Luxury linens, spa bathroom, wifi, & tv's every bedroom.
It's a historic home and is beautifully decorated. Has a front porch and private back yard to enjoy. No steps to enter and exit the cottage. Private off street parking. Very comfortable beds, luxury linens, soft towels, wine/champagne glasses, all the comforts of home.
Historic district is only 2 minutes away. Shopping, dining, historic tours, trails, parks, wineries, and more. Beautiful park just across street from cottage.
  • Perfect space for our girls weekend! The minute we opened the gate and walked to the entrance we knew we had picked a winner. Beautiful craftsman house with all the amenities. The pics do not do justice to the spaces. Initially looked at staying at the Elms but they were booked and we are so happy we decided on Sunnyside Cottage. The weather happened to be perfect for sitting outdoors on the private deck space. PS. We happened to be in Excelsior Springs for Waterfest weekend and their fireworks display Saturday evening. The front porch had the best view on the hill.

  • This is the nicest AirB&B ever! Every detail has been considered. We love it so much, this was our 2nd stay. This time we brought 2 other couples with us to use all 3 bedrooms. The house has been restored beautifully by keeping unique touches and adding purpose built updates that have been carefully planned. The quality is exceptional. The host, Kim, goes out of her way to make sure you are happy and no detail is overlooked. You must stay!! 5 star for sure!

  • Beautiful little home, so cozy and comfortable! Gary and Kim are awesome hosts... Even with helping me find a lost package I had delivered! Super clean and they left cookies and cupcakes upon our check in! Wonderful place to stay!

    Shannon2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sunny side cottage was perfect for myself, my husband, & my parents. Every piece of furniture and every decoration was beautiful. We were provided with so many unexpected treats: ice cream and sundae toppings, muffins in the kitchen, cupcakes in the dining room, and chocolate and every conceivable surface. So fun! The view from the front porch was so peaceful and picturesque. The spa shower was so luxurious, but I also loved that the king bed lavender room had its own private half bath so that there were no awkward bathroom run ins since the only access to the full bath is through the 2 other bedrooms. We were so much more comfortable at this cottage than our other family members that stayed at the only hotel in town. Kim & Gary also went above and beyond by having the cottage ready early so my parents could check in soon after their early flight into Kansas City & start their vacation as soon as possible. We would all highly recommend this property!

    Kaitlin2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend this listing enough. There were countless personal touches and amenities that made our stay at Sunny Side truly a home away from home for my family. We enjoyed fresh cookies, cupcakes, and muffins, chocolates, Kuerig coffee, and we were provided with ingredients for waffles which we made for breakfast. It was immaculately clean and the beds and linens were comfy and luxurious. It is nicely updated while retaining the charm of an older home. The spa shower was amazing! We loved the breakfast nook. The outdoor spaces were lovely and we spent a lot of time visiting on the front porch or shaded seating area out back. The view was beautiful and Excelsior Springs was a joy to explore. We visited the Hall of Waters and local shops, and were only about forty minutes away from what we wanted to do in Kansas City. Kim messaged me regularly to check in and was able to accommodate for early and later check-in times, which really helped us relax and spend quality time with each other during our short visit. We can't wait to visit again!

    Amber2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is definitely THE place to stay if you are visiting Excelsior Springs. We have stayed at the hotel in town many times but for the same price you can have this entire idyllic cottage to yourself. Amenities like freshly baked cookies, everything you need to make waffles, the ability to link to your Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon accounts, and overall coziness make this one of our favorite places we've ever stayed at! We can't wait to plan our next overnight vacation at the Sunny Side Cottage!

    Kirby2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The host was interactive and available. The cottage is EXQUISITE! There were little extras everyday that we noticed in the beautifully decorated house! Will do again!

Our bright cozy carriage house is a perfect retreat. Lexington is a unique small town with beautiful antebellum homes. Breakfast is included!
Deck overlooking the spacious lush yard and gardens is a sight to behold. Winding walks give the guests beautiful views at each turn. There is a lot to look at including the vast array of birds that frequent the feeders and nest in the beautiful bushes.
  • 5 stars,. the place was beautiful, Carol & Bob were really awesome, made us feel like family. I would recommend them to all my friends & family looking for a b&b.

  • We stayed here for eclipse weekend. Our stay with Carol and her family was wonderful and really added to the enjoyment of what was already a special event. Carol is a great cook; Lexington is a lovely, historic town.

  • If you are in Lexington, MO, this is where you want to stay; Carol and Bob are truly fantastic hosts. The property is quite nice - the yard is well manicured, the gardens are attractive and have something for everyone. The carriage house is beautifully done, well maintained, clean, eclectically decorated to meet all tastes, and private. We went to do a short Missouri winery tour - and that was okay as Missouri wines can be a hit or a huge miss - with an overnight near our last winery stop. Little did we know our favorite part of the trip was getting to know Carol and Bob. I already stated Carol and Bob are fantastic hosts, but I really want to express Carol went well beyond our expectations and we found ourselves lucky to have met them and identified this getaway less than an hour from our home. We are looking forward to our next trip to Lexington to visit Carol and Bob!

  • We loved our stay. Carol and Bob were amazing and hospitable hosts. Our breakfast was so good and a nice added touch to our overnight stay. Beautiful yard, cozy living quarters, and great amenities. A fabulous gym and even a hot tub. A perfect couples getaway but also plenty of room for a family! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and can't wait to find a reason to head back to Lexington!

  • David and Belinda's place was way more than we ever expected. We came in later than we thought and still were able to easily find the place at dusk. The beautiful rolling hills and views were breathtaking. We enjoyed walking the property and felt at home. Although our schedules didn't allow much time for visiting we were impressed with the little special things that were provided, i.e. Keirig coffees, teas, hot cocoa, plenty of chilled water, and yummy Kashi bars. The king sized bed was very comfy and our son slept great in the other room in the single bed. We definitely would stay here again if we had the chance. We give Scenic Ridge Suite in the Country 5 stars!! Thanks Dave and Belinda!!
