  • This was an absolutely beautiful clean home. It was so much fun for the kids, so many things for them to do. Would highly recommend this home to anyone considering the trip. Will more than likely sneak a getaway with the kids again!

  • Thank you for sharing such a lovely property for us to gather as a family, and have an unforgettable weekend. This was our first getaway with all of our children and grandchildren, and is a tradition we hope to carry on. Your home provided a wonderful atmosphere, and offered a great selection of outdoor recreation, during the time that the weather cooperated. We felt as though you went the extra mile by making sure there were an ample amount of toiletries, pool towels, and all the kitchen essentials. (Just to mention a few!) We left with happy hearts and fond memories, hoping to return again. From our family to yours, thank you!

    Susie2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot sing our praises enough for our stay. The house feels very secluded (which is exactly what we wanted) but was only a short drive away from grocery stores and restaurants. The heated outdoor pool was fantastic with ample seating. Bedrooms were as described with very comfortable. beds and pillows. Toiletries and kitchen amenities were above Parr. Communication was fast and courteous. Thank you so much for the memorable stay. We will all be recommending this house to froends!

  • If you are looking for a private getaway with a ton of activities at your disposal this is the place for you. We would definitely go back.

    Ben2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • We walked in and were greeted warmly, shown how to operate everything, and then left to enjoy the peaceful, large home and grounds. We followed the kids' interests and swam, used the paddleboat and kayaks, played pool, and one evening built a fire to cook over and visit around. The kitchen was well-stocked with all that we needed to assist in putting our pre-planned meals on the table. There was ample seating at mealtime and while visiting. Everything was in perfect working condition, well-maintained, and the pool was almost 90 degrees, so felt like bath water. The pool water was sparkling clear with pool toys nearby. The tennis courts and basketball court had balls and everything needed to enjoy immediately. The weather was perfect and we so loved sitting on the gazebo early in the morning and watching sun rise. This place is paradise. We never left the property once we arrived. There were 2 refrigerators to hold all of the food and beverages, also.

  • This was a great place for our family to stay. It was well kept, with plenty of room for all 21 of us. We took advantage of all of the outdoor activities and appreciated the equipment that was available for us to swim (pool toys and floatation devices), boat (kayaks, paddle boat and life jackets) and play tennis and basketball (rackets and balls). We're looking forward to our next visit.

    The Lakehouse Getaway
    33 reviews
Charming, comfortable country suite with private bathroom, sitting room, and separate entrance in our updated 1930's farmhouse. Casual peaceful country feel just minutes west of downtown Bloomington! Indiana University is an easy 15 minute drive, and the west side shopping, dining and entertainment neighborhood is just 7 minutes drive. Enjoy a day exploring our college town, attend a great performance, and then retreat to quiet comfort with fresh coffee and light breakfast in the morning.
This private suite is casual and cozy, with original hardwood floors and comfortable furnishings. The bedroom includes a queen bed and features a writing desk, tall window that opens to the summer flower garden, and access to the private bathroom. The spacious sitting room features comfortable seating, a flat screen tv and easy-on gas fireplace for cool evenings, with French doors that open to the deck. The private entrance porch includes a mini fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. We leave a light breakfast (usually muffins, bagels, fruit, and a pot of coffee) here for you in the morning to enjoy where you choose. Outdoors, please feel free to enjoy the flower garden, firepit, or go for a hike in our beautiful country neighborhood.
We live in a beautiful area of Monroe County just outside of Bloomington. The area is heavily wooded but not secluded, so you have the advantages of a neighborhood with the peace and privacy of the country. We are only a seven minute drive from shopping, dining, and entertainment options, about fifteen minutes from campus and downtown. We love to enjoy a fun evening downtown, dinner, drinks, maybe a free concert or an I.U. Auditorium event, or a walk on the B-line Trail - and then come home to the peace and beauty of the country.
  • This is lovely private suite in the same house but separated from the host family living area. Easy driving distance from IU campus and pretty easy to find if you use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map to direct you. Ann and Frank are very friendly couple and they make you feel like home. I highly recommend this house if you are planning overnight stay while visiting IU.

  • What a wonderful experience! Our first Airbnb and were nervous but Ann was there to welcome us, answer all our questions and helped with Bloomington restaurant recommendations. The suite was amazing with fresh flowers, clean throughout and very roomy. Being in the country was quiet and peaceful, yet only minutes from town. Thanks Ann.

  • Our stay with Ann and Frank was relaxing and pleasant. Their home is a comfortable and private space in a green and semi private area outside Bloomington. They are engaging hosts who value their guests privacy yet are engaging and great to talk with. Their description of area and accommodations are accurate and charming. We felt more like we were visiting a family member and are happy we chose them for our first AirBnB experience. Their dogs were well behaved and made good company while drinking coffee on the deck. We would happily seek them out and stay again given the opportunity!!

    Doc2015-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is exactly why Air B&B is successful, you can find a wonderful, clean, an interesting place to stay that is so much more than a motel. We were welcomed with smiles, introduced to our accomodations and met our host's 3 dogs! Fresh flowers and a clean fresh scent welcomed us as we relaxed in the sitting room. The queen bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of towels and any extras you might need. Oh the breakfast wax delicious: locally made sourdough bread, breakfast casserole, fruit and fresh coffee. When can we return?

    Janet2016-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived, we were greeted by Ann and her husband. They were very welcoming and gave us some great tips about entertainment and food in Bloomington. They also explained everything we needed to know about their place. There is a very comfortable bed, nice bathroom, roomy living room with lots of comfy couches and a porch. We went to the restaurant they suggested and enjoyed a band. In the morning, Ann and her husband left the breakfast we had chosen - baked blueberry steel-cut oats (wonderful), with granola, milk, strawberries and other fruit, yogurt, a pot of coffee, and a juice blend. It was a great breakfast. The location is very close to restaurants and stores but is on a quiet rural road. I highly recommend this AirBnB.

  • Warm, friendly quiet setting. Highly recommend it!

  • Don't miss out on this excellent place. Ann and Frank are fantastic hosts. We couldn't have been more happy staying here. The house is a quiet, relaxing place that's just a quick 15 minutes outside Bloomington. The room is very private, with an exclusive sitting area and patio. We enjoyed a bonfire during our stay, which was a very unexpected surprise. The breakfast was a delightful addition to our stay, and delicious at that! I'd recommend this place to any of my friends or family. Thank you, Ann and Frank!!

  • My family and I can't say enough great things about this amazing cottage! It was peaceful, relaxing and the sunsets are breathtaking. It was beautifully decorated, abundantly stocked with towels and other thoughtful items, even snacks & cold beverages in the fridge available. My only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer. I'm hoping it works out that we can stay again next year when it's time for our annual family reunion. ️

  • A group of friends and I stayed at this lovely cabin for the weekend. It was so cozy and quiet. The place was so clean and equipped with everything we needed. Our hosts greeted us and gave us a quick tour. Then they let us have our space which was awesome. They have two adorable cows that greeted us as well. The farm is so nice and quaint. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting some quiet time and relaxation.

  • Conor and Bridget were exceptional hosts that made us feel welcome in every way. Our check-in was super easy and Conor showed us the place and told of its history. It is a great cabin. Much larger than we anticipated. It's huge. It has a large stone fireplace that Conor had already filled with wood for our first fire, then he graciously provided lots more kindling and wood for the next two nights. It made for a priceless visit. One of the things we appreciated is the seclusion. It is truly in the country, but amazing close to Bloomington and IU. It took only 10 minutes to get into town. Cell phone coverage was very minimal as was data coverage, which didn't bother us at all. HINT: I did find that if I propped my phone up in the window over the kitchen sink I could get emails and texts pretty regularly. The kitchen was large and well-stocked. The only thing lacking was a microwave, but we didn't miss it. As city folk, the one thing that took some getting used to is the lack of curtains on the windows. But your in the middle of nowhere, so there aren't passersby to peer in on you. We got over it quickly. Most of all we enjoyed the large living room with its high ceilings. The fireplace made space so cozy and inviting. We actually pulled mattresses down from the loft on two nights and slept on the floor of the living room in front of the fire. It rained a lot while we there, including one very bad storm on our final night, so we were not able to get out and explore all of the property, especially the pond. We will have to do that next time - we definitely plan on going back!! Go to Conor and Bridget's place, you will not regret it!

    Elizabeth2017-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of six (2 adults, 4 school aged kids) was looking for an inexpensive rustic setting that was minutes away (15-20 min easy drive) from McCormick's Creek State Park (and Bloomington). Conor and Bridget's place was ideal. The cabin had one private bedroom and a loft area (pull out queen couch and four mattress pads) that was perfect for our slew of kids. After a long day of hiking, we enjoyed being unplugged for the evening, and spent time looking at the stars and campfire instead of a tv. Conor's hospitality was top notch, and if you have the time you could ask for a tour to see all of the things they have going on their property. The large farm table for meals and games as well as the inviting fireplace and porches all made for a renewing fall break family vacation. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, unless it's booked after we tell all of our friends!

    Tim2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Conor and Bridget were perfect hosts. They greeted us, checked on us, and their whole family made sure our experience was flawless. The setting is completely lovely. We felt tucked away in the Southern Indiana hills, yet only 6 miles from Bloomington's west side. The cabin is quaint and charming, with comfortable spaces and fabulously unique touches. We'll be back!

    Sara2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect family getaway.

    Jordan2016-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Conor and Bridget's cabin provided a perfect backdrop for a relaxing weekend. We were able to wander around and explore the property, though we mostly stayed close to the beautiful cabin. The kitchen was fully stocked, and we were blown away by the loft and fireplace. We felt comfortable and secure the whole time, including lying out in the yard stargazing. It's amazing how close to town this is for how serene the property was. My friends and I really enjoyed our time.

    Gabriel2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Solsberry Hill Retreat Cabin was just what we needed! The cabin was situated on a beautiful farm, that had the feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere. In reality the cabin was only about 20 minutes from Bloomington. This gave us great options. Connor and Bridget were fantastic about our last-minute booking. We were super lucky since they were actually booked most of the month. After visiting, I can see why. The cabin is beautiful. Rustic yet refined enough to be super comfortable. We were also very fortunate to have a cool evenings in late April, which allowed us to use the beautiful fireplace. The weather, which is completely out of their control, was gloomy and rainy the whole time… Which did not allow for us to explore the beautiful farm ... guess we will just have to come back for that. The closeness to Bloomington made it easy for us to head into town when the power was out for a meal at one of the many local restaurants. This is definitely a cabin that I would rent again and will recommend to my friends. If you're ever in need of, or looking for a place to get away near Bloomington Indiana… This is definitely the place.

  • The listing does not do this place justice. It's like a homey, safe little apartment off the beaten path, and the family running it went out of their way to make things comfortable from the moment I arrived. Great place to stay, clean, cute, and organized, with everything you need (unless you need city life, I guess).

  • I enjoyed spending time in rural Indiana, and this place was a great way to enhance the experience. The host gave me a friendly welcome, and the accommodations were clean and modern, with a lot of added touches like a patio with a fire pit that I would have liked to have used if I had more time. I would definitely like to come back.

Enjoy our 1-bedroom apartment with a private entrance in the beautiful countryside on the west side of Bloomington, conveniently just 15 minutes from campus and a very easy drive. The view from every window is beautiful as you relax in the comfortable peaceful space.
Come stay in a comfortable 1-bedroom apartment with a private entrance and a very private feel which shares no walls with the house. The above-garage apartment was finished a few years ago with the same level of quality as our home, including custom Amish cabinetry, wood laminate floors and beautiful tile in the bathroom. One of the things we hear most often about our home is how beautiful the view is. We decided to accent this feature in the apartment by way of huge windows to enjoy the gorgeous views of the surrounding area, including tree-covered hills and a nearby barn with horses. The bedroom has a queen bed with an incredibly comfortable Tempur-Pedic mattress with a small sloped-ceiling room off the bedroom perfect for kids. A queen air mattress could be used in that space or in the living room. The kitchen has all standard equipment, including full oven, stove, refrigerator, Keurig, toaster, garbage disposal and microwave. If there's anything else you might require, I'm happy to loan from my extensive kitchen as well. We will also likely be able to provide some eggs from our chickens (if they're not on strike.) The apartment has wi-fi with an airport express to provide a good signal. Just ask if you would like to use our Apple TV or Amazon firestick with the flat-screen TV. There is also a dvd player and a collection of movies for your enjoyment. We do not have cable.
Our home is on a beautiful road that used to be a farm and now has 8 homes, each on several acres. It is a beautiful country space with a creek at the back of our 7 acres which makes a lovely walk and friendly neighbors that are happy to have you walk along their creek side as well. We keep chickens and you can enjoy their antics as well as eggs. We also have a limestone raised bed garden that is a focal point of our yard providing produce during the summer and fall that we are happy to share with you. We also have a playhouse, castle play set, swings and a sandbox in our yard for any children.
  • Great comfortable stay! Archie and Ann are very nice folks. They went out if their way to make me feel at home. My arrival was a last minute arrangement and they made sure to have e wry thing ready for me. When I arrived at the apartment, Ann had left me a warm welcoming treat! It was a delicious piece of cake that her boys had baked!! Perfect touch...

  • The setting of this beautiful apartment was spectacular. We were lucky to be just down the road from the ball fields where my daughter's softball tournament was held. The apartment was perfect for us because we had all the comforts of home, especially laundry! Fresh eggs and garden vegetables were the icing on the cake. Heather is the perfect host!

  • We had a great time staying at this place! Heather responded to all my communication extremely promptly, and the apartment was fantastic. It was exactly what we were looking for - quiet, spacious, comfortable, and had a great view. This was our first time visiting Bloomington. We loved it, and this place was a very relaxing place to come home to after seeing the sights.

  • This BNB was fantastic! We really enjoyed the country setting, but close proximity to town. The BNB was very well laid out, spacious, and clean. Thanks for having us!

  • Heather and Archie kept us supplied with fresh eggs from their chickens and were the perfect hosts. We met their delightful children and enjoyed walking out to the creek and sitting around the fire table at night. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated, with pleasant views of the bucolic surroundings. A long staircase leads to your private entrance. Safe, quiet, private neighborhood with ample parking. For relaxation, try watching the pampered chickens from your window. Heather responds almost instantly to inquiries on the Airbnb app. The ride to downtown Bloomington is only about 15 minutes on a scenic country highway. Our son is a grad student at IU and we combined a week-long visit with a trip to the Indy 500, hiking, and other excursions in beautiful southern Indiana. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again.

  • Host was very flexible and helpful. Richard and Sherri took good care of us. What we needed was a two week furnished apt and this was perfect. The apt is very clean fresh paint hard floors so no worries about hotel carpet syndrome. Very clean. clean sheets. Clean towels. Washer and dryer available for use. Overall, a great experience and I will stay there again if the apt is available.

  • Very clean, accomidating, nicely decorated, and well appointed. Easy access. The little "English" garden and picket fence made it very appealing when you arrive. We would reccomend this to any one traveling through the area.

  • This was absolutely great for my needs, although my visit was for a very bad reason, attending my Mother's funeral. I grew up in this area, and have been back for visits many times, but never heard of this place. Only problem I could see was that many family members were totally unaware it existed as well. Local funeral home didn't know about it either! And although I'd like to keep it to myself so when and if I need it again it might be available, I've told everyone this was where I stayed this weekend. I fully expect many will use to encourage visits from family and friends in the future!

Our charming suite has a front porch overlooking the pond, private bath, queen bed as well as a cozy sleeping loft. There is a private gated driveway & ample parking adjacent to front porch.
Close to Bloomington, yet out in the country & private.
You can not see any neighbors & are bordered by woods & a certified forrest that prevents any development.
  • We had a cabin to ourselves which had three beds and a bathroom. It was the perfect size for my group and was easy to move around. The cabin and the property itself is secluded so there was no noise to bother us. Conor and Bridget were responsive to my messages and very helpful. I would highly recommend their cabin for anyone looking to have a nice and quiet stay.

    Victor2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Conor and Bridget were the best hosts. Not only were they friendly, they were extremely responsive to our requests, yet not intrusive. The place is just beautiful and just what we needed. We'll go back!

  • Conor is a very nice, accommodating host, and very available via text or email. The property is large, so you don't see the hosts much. We LOVED the beauty of the lake and surroundings, and wildlife. Saw a fox one day! Conor is busy fixing up and building the cabins and look forward to seeing the finished product. Needs to get cabin interiors finished more for guests; shower was cold most of the time. Right now, the accommodations can be a bit primitive, but if that doesn't bother you (fine for a night or two), don't miss this beautiful place.

  • Waiting till the last minute to find accommodations on a IU graduation weekend is not recommended! However, this time our procrastination led us to find a beautiful place to spend our weekend while our son graduated IU. Conor & Bridget worked diligently for us and bent over backward to make sure we had what we needed. The little touches like a newspaper with our son's name in it, some breakfast bar goodies, coffee and clean accommodations were so appreciated. They have such a beautiful spot for their cabins. We were amazed how secluded it felt but how close we were to campus. Travel to and from is very easy. It was so quiet! I sat on the porch one evening listening to see if I could hear traffic (I could not). In fact, that particular evening I could not hear any "man-made" noise at all. Lovely view, lovely farm! We will definitely return. Thank you Conor & Bridget!

  • The Beachcomber is a hidden gem! Richard had EVERYTHING we could have needed during our stay! GPS led us straight to the site. He greeted us as we pulled up, made us feel like family, and then retreated to his home (around the lake) and let us enjoy ourselves! The tent was beautiful and Richard's attention to detail is obvious. We kayaked and hung around in the hammock during the day- stargazed and stoked a campfire at night! It was a perfect getaway for our honeymoon. My husband fished and caught three bass very quickly! It was great having a (warm!) shower, sinks, and a flushing toilet while camping. Not to mention the fridge, grill, and awesome firepit! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and next time we're in the area- we plan to come back!

    Emily2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • My son loves to find beautiful Airbnb places and he chose this place for his 11th birthday. It was great! The hosts even put balloons and a gift in the cabin! My boys had an awesome time fishing and said they loved waking up to the sound of the birds. The hosts were very friendly and kindly checked to see if we needed anything, we didn't, everything we needed was there. Great getaway! My son is asking when we can go back...

    Megan2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fantastic. Richard and his crew have thought of everything. You get the best of both worlds: the outdoorsy fun of camping and the conveniences of a stocked apartment. It is peaceful and beautiful, we paddled on the lake every chance we got. One night of our stay there was a 4-hour severe storm -- we stayed perfectly dry; the tent is extremely sturdy. It's great, highly recommend.

    Elizabeth2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem!!!! This place is everything we were looking for. Get the full experience because it's worth every second. The morning bass fishing was outstanding! Got some real monsters in there!!

    Tyler2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place "Wowed" us from the second we got there. All the little touches make this place special. Loved the scenic view. Richard and his family were so kind and friendly. With the awesome fishing and the fun on the kayaks..we are going back!

    Jenna2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay. We will definitely be back.

    Candice2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a one of a kind place. When you pull up to the two tents sitting on the water, it's like a whole new world. Completely secluded; with everything you need. Running water to a shower and toilet? Amazing! Comfortable queen size bed, gas grill and electric hookups! Cleanliness was first rate, someone had stayed the two nights prior and I couldn't tell anyone had been. Unforgettable experience

    Nathan2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is simply incredible! The tent is adorable, clean, comfortable, and they have thought of everything- they had dishes, utensils, a cast iron skillet for the grill/fire pit, and even games! The property as a whole is beautiful and isolated so you truly feel like you're getting away from it all. The lake is fun and Richard has kayaks and paddle boards to rent and is incredibly generous with them. Richard is, by far, the best host I've had. He's accommodating, generous, and makes the whole process a breeze! We're planning a trip back with our families. We loved it! We will (and have!) recommend this property to everyone!

  • Nice place with well laid out house with nice private rooms upstairs. Breakfast was made to order from limited menu between 7 and 8 am. Rural setting in Amish country in small town Odon in Indian.

  • My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Naomi and Steve's B&B. It is a lovely modern facility with three guest rooms upstairs. Our room was quite spacious and well appointed. We enjoyed the experience of being in the middle of an Amish community; we saw many horse drawn conveyances including open and enclosed buggies, two wheel carts and farm wagons and received many friendly waves from their occupants. Naomi prepared a scrumptious and hearty breakfast for us and sent us on our way very content with our stay.

    Zed2013-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Naomi 's place is lovely , very quiet, on a hill in the middle of Amish country. We arrived on Sunday evening so heard the clip clip of many horse and buggies going up and down the road. I was thrilled to be staying in this unusual setting! Naomi was kind enough to prepare us breakfast with delicious coffee, etc. and we enjoyed talking with you after a good nights sleep.

    Susan2014-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, lovely rural location in the middle of an Amish community. The host and hostess are delightful, warm, welcoming and very gracious. You will feel like you're staying with friends. Breakfast was wonderful, tasty and very fresh. Naomi is a wonderful cook. You will thoroughly enjoy your stay here.

  • Very welcoming host and quiet, relaxing place!

    Randall2015-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very lovely B&B in a tremendously quiet and serene setting on a picturesque country road. It is set back quite a ways from the road with only light local traffic from motor vehicles and Amish buggys. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, and quite spotless. A microwave and refrigerator in the shared upstairs guest space along with snacks and hot and cold drinks are also available. The common space includes two exercise machines, a large TV (there is also satellite TV in the room), movies, and books. Naomi was a welcoming hostess who offered fresh, hearty breakfasts while sharing her knowledge of the surrounding rural Amish community and farming lifestyle. The nearest town of Odon, a few miles North, offers one Mexican restaurant, an Amish cafe' and bakery, and a small grocery store. Being a rural area, my cell and internet service were spotty - adequate for short tasks but not more intensive use. Best to plan on unplugging and enjoying the comfort of the Inn and the beauty of the area! Further South the town of Loogootee is significantly larger with more amenities and offerings. Overall a most pleasant stay and one I would repeat should I return to the area.

  • It was an absolutely lovely weekend in Bloomington. We visited our son at Indiana University. The 20 minute drive is easy. The house was even better than the pictures. Stephen and Sebra are kind and very well organized for your stay. I would recommend this to anyone that appreciates a flare of design and tranquity of the country. You will not be disappointed. Their home is special and deserves to be treated like your very own home. Thanks. We loved it!

  • Stephen and Sebra are wonderful hosts and the Steelcroft house greatly exceeded our group's (12 total from multiple states) expectations. This was my first Airbnb booking and the extra time and care that Stephen and Sebra took to quickly and thoroughly resolve all of my many questions was very helpful and comforting. Overall our experience was excellent and I submit my strongest possible endorsement of Steelcroft.

  • Beautiful, Unique Home! Great Hosts! Stephen and Sebra were very friendly and left us a list of activities we could do with our children nearby, sent us very helpful directions to get to their home, and made themselves available to us, but left us to enjoy ourselves on our own as they stayed in the apartment attached to the home. The beds are a little small in the upstairs rooms and grown men had trouble fitting into them, but we made it work! We really enjoyed all indoor and outdoor spaces!!

  • We needed to stay West of Bloomington on SR45 near our family's farm, and this was only 5 miles away! It was very convenient to Bloomington but not in the midst of hustle and bustle. We used the 2 downstairs BR. One had a Queen bed and ensuite bath. The second room had a twin bed and a bathroom in the hallway. Upstairs there was probably another large BR. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were outfitted with nice soaps, etc. The kitchen is huge, with big granite counters, 2 sinks, and what seemed to be plenty of pots and pans for cooking. There was a large coffee pot with filters set out for us, as well as some ground coffee. There was plenty of room in the fridge for our travel food, leftovers. We did not host anyone, but the dining table and living room are clearly set up to host! There was also a large yard with veggie garden and flowers, so we spent some quality camera time chasing bugs. The A/C was quiet and effective, which is important in Indiana Summer! There was a family with children living in the basement apartment, and MaryLee was very up front about that. There was a white-noise machine in the larger first floor BR which could be used if that is needed. This was a much better setting than any hotel for our visit!

    Theresa2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This home is absolutely lovely and in a peaceful neighborhood, but just a quick and easy drive downtown. The space is light-filled with a large and comfortable kitchen and dining room for your family or group and plenty of sleeping space! The backyard and deck are lovely and everything is well-maintained and clean. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

  • From the moment I found and booked this place I knew my husband and was in for a little slice of heaven. I didn't realize once we got their that it wasn't just a slice, it is picture perfect heaven! The view is beautiful. The seclusion is amazing. The canopy tent is glorious! We were able to enjoy this paradise for our anniversary. Richard and his wife were so friendly and greeted us with open arms. Checked in on us but also gave us our privacy. Could not of picked a better place. From the small gift of thoughtfulness from Richard and his wife all the way to making sure you have basically everything you could need or desire. We highly recommend staying here and I promise two days is not enough. Think I found my new favorite place on earth!!!!! We will be back ASAP!!!! I promise you will love this place if you like lake's, fishing, kayaking, peacefulness, fires, outdoors, and serenity this is the place for you!! Plus you get a "glam camp" with it. Nothing better if you ask us!

  • We had a great time relaxing at Richard's property. Being able to make a cup of coffee, step outside and stare at the lake was amazing. Not to mention the luxury of launching kayaks right outside your front door. Just about everything you need is already at the property. In case you do need something, the Dollar General and bait shop are just a few miles away. Richard is extremely welcoming and accommodating. Everyone in my family said they wanted to come back.

  • My husband and I had a great stay with Nancy! Her place is tucked away surrounded by nature. I was able to enjoy a Little time on her front porch caching up on some reading and absorbing some sun. The sounds of nature and catching sight of a humming bird, doing what they do, was an enjoyable added touch! Nancys home has a solid, durable, robust feel to it, with an amazing design. A diamond in the rough!! Our only regrets are we didn't find this earlier!

    Brenda2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first airbnb stay. Honestly, it was better than I imagined. My fiance and I agree that Ms. Nancys' home is a beautiful, secluded, serene, piece of heaven, and its nestled right in the middle of Gods majestic landscaping. We have decided to be a frequent repeat guest.

  • If you're tired of the hustle of the city this is the spot for you! Nancy is a relaxed and gracious host living in an amazing community in the best kept secret in the Midwest. Prepare to completely relax.

  • Nancy has a beautiful place and she is a great host. My stay was relaxing and a great value. Perfect as a resting place or a getaway. I plan on bringing my wife next time to enjoy it with me. Great conversations and a beautiful setting full of nature's rewards!

  • Nancy place is beautiful. Inside and out. It's a beautiful and roomy home. The downstairs is her bedroom but if you rent all 3 rooms then you have the whole house. Otherwise, she stays there with her guests and you have the 2 upstairs rooms. The whole house is unique and special the way it is decorated. The kitchen is gorgeous with lead glass door that leads out to side deck and stain glass windows throughout house. Big picture windows in dining room and family/sitting room. Lots of natural light and low lighting. Beautiful landscape in front of the house looking out the windows. She's on May Creek farm. The place has so much character. The 3 pics she had didn't have any of house. This place would be booked up solid if she had house pics. It's just that nice. The place was extremely clean and nice. We came here after going to my 95 yr old grandma's funeral and let me tell you, it was perfect. Just the zen we needed. The yard has cool barns, pond, pavillion, swingset, and even in the distance chicken coop. Coop is far from house so you wouldn't know it was there unless you ventured out. The place is located in the country which is why we only booked for the day after. The day before we needed a place closeby the funeral chapel in Bloomington. This place would have been too far out. But after funeral, it was perfect. We sat in sitting room and sorted old photos of grandma. We ate cheese and crackers, drank wine and reminisced. Oh there's the friendliest house cat names Jetsong. Jet for short. If you want to get away from the city and want a quiet place, this place is great. Plenty of parking too which was good since the 4 of us had 3 cars. Nancy is very nice and interacts with you as much or as little as you want.

    Lana2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's place was a great experience. Far more than "booking a room and bath". The house is welcoming, warm, and the amenities are great. The host (Nancy) is a great person who made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. If you're looking for a place to stay that is quiet, near to nature, yet 20 minutes from anything in town - - Stay here.

    Nick2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Nancy's house when visiting our son in Bloomington. The place is perfect...quiet, serene, comfortable, and woodsy with a friendly house cat. It is a nice drive from the highway for which Nancy provides detailed directions. The inside of the house is as beautiful as the outside and is filled with unique art and other decor. About 20 minutes to campus. We recommend it highly.

  • Mary Lee's home is in a lovely, secluded and safe neighborhood, with a spacious back yard, vegetable garden, and tree swing. There is even a creek with beaver dams across the street. The basement apartment is clean and very comfortable, including board games for the kids. The water pressure is perfect, lots of hot water. The cozy beds and crisp linens put us to sleep right away. Haven't slept that well in a long time. Everyone was kind and helpful. We had a wonderful visit, thank you!

  • Mary Lee's apartment is very cozy and comfortable. This was our first Air B&B experience and I was hesitant, but the stay was simply perfect. Mary Lee thought of everything and it couldn't be cleaner. We have a student at IU and we much preferred Mary Lee's place to our hotel stays. We'll book with Mary Lee again!

Enjoy a long-term stay in a warm and comfortable suite in our updated 1930's farmhouse. You will share the main entrance to our home but the 2nd floor will be all yours. Suite includes bedroom, spacious bathroom, and sitting room.
The 2nd floor of our home was recently remodeled and has only been used for guests since then, so the interior is fresh and clean, decorated in warm colors. The bedroom includes a queen size bed, the bathroom is spacious and well-lit, and the sitting room includes a flat-screen TV. The house is surrounded by mature trees and the views from the windows are very nice.
  • Ann and her husband were wonderful hosts! The space was perfect for me and very clean. It was so nice to have breakfast, delicious at that, brought up for me. Location was close enough to Indiana University to visit my son. The dogs were so sweet. Would definitely stay again!

  • Ann and Frank are very kind and generous people. The room was just like the pictures, and the scenery is very peaceful and quiet. They are very good hosts I would definitely stay with them again! :]

    Chelsea2016-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • I feel lucky to have found Ann's listing available during the busy graduation season in Bloomington. Ann and Frank were thoughtful hosts -- so friendly and respectful -- and the 2nd floor country suite was comfortable and welcoming. A perfect retreat after a long, busy day at IU.

    Sharon2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • The space is secluded but not too far from town. The 2nd story space was very comforting offering a cute kitchen nook, private warm bathroom, and very comfortable bed! Ann and Frank's hospitality were spot on! The dogs were great too!

    Brad2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ann's place was so nice and cozy! The 2nd floor suite was very private and Ann couldn't have been nicer! Great place to stay! Would definitely stay again!

  • It felt like being at home! The upstairs suite is very private, very nicely remodeled, and very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay so much, I had wonderful conversations with Frank and Ann about the Bloomington area and really learned about the local community and insights that I would not have been able to get anywhere else. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place in or near Bloomington. The short drive out provides a great relief from the busy city life and let's you truly enjoy the quiet of nature and comfort of the home.

    James2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you very much Ann & Frank for being one of the best Air BnB hosts we have ever had! The room was very clean and they give you full private access to their upstairs (bedroom, TV room, bathroom, fridge, microwave, coffee). We sadly could not stay around to chat much since we had to hit the road early but they made great accommodations to our traveling. They normally make breakfast but since we were leaving early, they left us bagels and delicious pastries to have in the morning, along with yogurt and granola. When we first arrived to their home, we were greeted by their very nice dogs, that wanted all kinds of love and petting. I highly recommend this home to anyone in the area passing through and need a place to stay or if they want a nice getaway. Thank you very much Ann!

Our home features an open floorplan, updated kitchen, and four bedrooms- perfect for hosting your group. The master bedroom is a retreat- with a sitting room and walk in shower. Close to IU and downtown.
Our house is great for hosting large groups because of the open concept living room/dining room. There is plenty of space to hang out and enjoy meals together. The updated house has so many features: stainless steel eat-in kitchen, two gas fireplaces, tiled bathrooms, spacious bedrooms, backyard seating, fire pit, and hot tub.
I love living in Bloomington and being close to downtown and campus. Our neighborhood is within walking distance of Karst Farm Park, a large park with a disc golf course, playgrounds, and a Splash Pad. Our neighborhood is also on the Karst Farm Greenway, a beautiful hike and bike trail connecting several parks and attractions. There is a train track that runs along the back side of our neighborhood. You will hear trains from time to time but they have never disturbed our sleep. Located on the west side of Bloomington, we are just 10 minutes from campus and downtown.
  • Julia was very communicative before our arrival, and gave us helpful directions to get to the area in the fastest and easiest way possible. Our group was in town for a bike ride, so we were a little bummed to find after arrival that the hot tub didn't work, but Julia was very apologetic and responsive to our questions. The house is very spacious- we had more that enough room for a group of 5 of us. The kitchen is especially nice if you'd like to do some of your own cooking. Comfy beds, too!

    Molly2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is large with a great open floor plan. Four ample sized bedrooms. The master bathroom is awesome! Julia was so easy to work with and was great at communicating. I would certainly recommend this house.

    Bill2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Julia was very responsive to any questions and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Her home is immaculate. The living/dining/kitchen is an open concept and very conducive to relaxing (we had a group of six). We will definitely stay here again if in the Bloomington area.

    Susan2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great, we had 9 alumni stay for Homecoming weekend and it was the perfect meeting place for us. It was great to be able to cook some last minute things for the tailgate and prepare a few meals throughout the weekend. Julia was a great host and we would absolutely stay again.

  • Heather and Archie made us feel right at home. Showing us around the house and showing us how to operate things. We all had a blast with the huge back yard, playing volleyball, Football, and Frisbee. The house was better than expected. Archie even set up a computer for us to watch the Cubs playoffs! Neighborhood was beautiful, quite and the neighbors were all friendly. The chickens were a big hit with the kids, because they liked to pet them and have fresh eggs every morning. All in all, a fantastic experience and we would love to go back soon. The kids did not want to leave. Thank you to Heather and Archie for being such wonderful hosts.

    Donald2016-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • First time experience with Airbnb and it was perfect! Beautiful home in a with a beautiful view. Heather and her family were the perfect host. We were in Bloomington for a wedding and we stayed in their home and apartment which comfortably suited 15 of our family members. It was a great time and was much better than staying in a hotel. Everything we needed was provided to us. The hospitality was top notch and amazing. Fresh vegetables from the garden and eggs from the chickens. Also, very kid friendly. We had 2 young children with us and they loved the playhouse in the back and all the toys suitable for them. If you are staying in Bloomington and looking for accommodations for a large group (10-15) I recommend this home. If you are just looking for a place for a couple then their apartment is perfect. It is updated, clean and has everything you will need to be comfortable. This place exceeded all my expectations. Thank you.

    Benjamin2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This home was a great place for a low-key NYE with 6 couples. We enjoyed playing tons of games around the large dining table and cooking meals together in the open layout kitchen. Thank you!!

  • Heather's house is situated in a beautiful, expansive area, with stunning views and scenery. The deck is a great place to hang out and take it all in, especially at night or early morning. It's a very quiet area and a beautiful drive from Bloomington. The house is well equipped and comfortable. We had everything we could possibly have needed in the kitchen, which was great because we did quite a bit of cooking. The grill works well as does the propane fire pit on the deck. The eggs Heather left us from their chicken coop outside were truly amazing and delicious! I highly recommend Heather's home if you have a larger group or are just looking for a big, comfortable home that is "away from it all" while still being conveniently located to Bloomington. We would definitely stay there again!

    Shawn2017-06-10T00:00:00Z

The host family is so nice and accommodating--we never felt unwelcome and none of our questions went unanswered.
