Private large Studio with king bed. Private bathroom with shower, bath and toilet separate from Studio. Enjoy all the beautiful Bayside has to offer. Take the cruiser bicycles or enjoy a walk along the foreshore that's just down the road. Minutes walk to trains and buses and many restaurants and cafes with markets on Sundays. Free off street parking. Airport is a 15-20 minute drive. Free WiFi, Netflix on 42 inch digital TV. Kitchenette inc toaster, fridge, microwave, electric frypan and grill.
Guests will enjoy their own private studio with kitchenette, high quality king size bed, leather lounge and dining table. There is also a separate private bathroom including a shower, bath and separate toilet. The bathroom and toilet are in the same area as the studio but are a few steps away and still under the same roof and still in your private area. There is a large rumpus area that can be used as a sitting area too, still under cover and a lovely verandah with views to the bay overlooking the garden available to guests. The owners do not access the guest's space during the stay unless at the request of the guests. Guests have there own private entrance to their area and the studio is completely secure with lock and key for guests. Free Wifi, Netflix and 42 inch Digital TV.

    The room has a full size cupboard. Comfortable queen size bed, 4 power points + Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection in the room + TV. We can offer additional bedding and an inflatable mattress if required. We can offer additional storage if required.
    We're lucky enough to be in a very friendly neighborhood. Neighbors on all sides wave and say hello and there are often people out and about exercising, walking dogs or just enjoying the beautiful South East Queensland weather. We have near by Thai, Indian & Chinese restaurants as well as a number of fast food chains, a great butcher, a Woolworths and a number of other shops a 10 minute walk away in the Alexandra Hills Shopping Centre.

    The Private Retreat Downstairs is a new, spacious, open plan, well lit, modern, self-contained apartment which offers a fully equipped kitchen and separate bedroom with a very comfortable queen size bed plus en-suite. The house is in a quiet street, has bay views and a tropical garden. It is close to all amenities and walking distance to Wynnum and Manly.
    We have upgraded our Private Retreat to a brand new spacious open plan apartment with a separate bedroom and en-suite. The apartment provides everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
    Best of both worlds on your doorstep! On one side you have got Brisbane offering lots of cultural activities, live music, markets, restaurants etc. and on the other hand side you have got the beautiful Moreton Bay with beautiful islands, endless beaches and subtropical climate.     This two storey apartment is bright, modern, airy , spacious and comes with all the comforts of home including full cooking and laundry amenities. It has water glimpses from the top deck and catches beautiful sea breezes. The bathroom has a bath and a large shower area. It is very clean and comfortable for short or long stays.
    The getaway is situated in a lovely tree-lined, suburban street just a few streets away from the waterfront. Swim in the sea pool, enjoy restaurants, bars and gift stores or visit the local markets every Sunday. There is a small shopping village with everything you could need a short stroll away.

  • What a delightful find is Angela's place - it was so refreshing to relax and escape on our mini break in such a beautiful and comfy setting. We were greeted with champagne, chocolates and fruit on arrival and Angela settled us in with some local tips and friendly conversation. One covered car space and plenty of safe on-street parking. Wynnum is perfect place to relax & enjoy the breeze. ADVERTISED RATE IS MIN RATE FOR LAST MIN BOOKINGS AND OFF PEAK. AIRBNB VARIES THE RATE DEPENDING ON DEMAND (SEE CALENDAR). UNIT IS PET FRIENDLY AND AS SUCH IS NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WITH CAT/DOG ALLERGIES.
    The unit catches the cool bay breezes and includes little garden. Small to medium sized pets are welcome however additional cleaning charges may be applicable.
    Wynnum is a bayside suburb of Brisbane full of character and charm. The esplanade is a great attraction. The unit is a 10 minute walk to Wynnum CBD which offers a range of boutique shops and good quality food. The CBD also includes an IGA, Coles and Woolies. The Esplanade is 100m down the road and you can walk to the boardwalk through the picturesque mangroves or all the way down to the stunning Manly Harbour.

  • Ellen and Michael were very friendly (but not in the least intrusive) and very responsive whenever we needed help or had questions. We booked the place to stay for 4 weeks whilst we looked for somewhere to live more permanently and it really suited us. Very clean and tidy, quiet, and in a great location. Super Indian curry house just around the corner and a great coffee bar too. The courtyard is compact but our puppy was very happy staying there - although he found it hard to bury a bone in the artificial lawn :-) Massive off-lead park only a couple of minutes away and then there is the esplanade for relaxing walks. Cannot recommend highly enough. We were sad to leave - even though we were going to our own place. :-) :-) :-)

    My house has a beautiful peaceful feel about it. This room has a queen bed, walk-in-robe, comfy chair, side table and chest of drawers. We are close to beaches, restaurants, the shops, public transport, and the Stradbroke Ferry terminal. There is a lovely coastal walkway nearby, plus many other walking paths.
    The house is large, bright and airy with 5 bedrooms, so lots of space. There is plenty of street parking available. The bathroom is shared with the other guest/s. I run a health and wellbeing business on the upper level of this split level home, away from the living area. The pets are friendly and sociable.

    The perfect escape from the fast-paced city, yet close enough to enjoy it! Overlooking the swimming pool and garden, your beautifully appointed private suite is connected to our home by the alfresco patio that we welcome you to share with us. Bright and exquisitely decorated, we know you will enjoy your stay with us. Tadpoles' is always a popular choice amongst Sleeman Centre competitors, and we love having them back time and time again.
    Best suited to a couple although two children could easily sleep on the double sofa-bed. Car necessary - as public transport is not very regular, particularly weekends. We have plenty of off-street parking for your vehicle. Access to and from the airport is very direct along the freeway, avoiding all suburban areas. It takes only 20 minutes to drive there from our home. Linking to the freeway to make daily trips to the Sunshine Coast (1 hour 20) or Gold Coast (50 mins) is very simple and very quick - 3 minutes and you're on the freeway north and south! Guests are preferring to take themselves on relaxed daily excursions knowing their luggage and personal possessions are safely locked away with us. We are also very close to direct link roads in to Brisbane City and certain times of the day can only take 20 minutes. Effective air conditioning ensures your comfort throughout our balmy summer months and cooler winter evenings. A centrally positioned ceiling fan gives you the other option of a more soothing breeze. Tadpoles' is perfectly positioned for those attending events at either the Sleeman Sports' Complex (2 minutes drive away) or the three Belmont Shooting ranges (3 mins drive away). Both complexes will be hosting events for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and throughout every year, international, national and regional swimming/sports competitions are held at these venues. We will provide you with delicious and healthy breakfast food left in your suite, so you can help yourself at a time that best suits you. The kitchenette allows you to make tea/coffee and there is also a sandwich maker, toaster, microwave and bar fridge that is stocked with our home-made preserves. PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO OTHER COOKING ALLOWED - a deliberate choice with it being a studio apartment. We ask people that are about to book Tadpoles' Retreat to please read our house rules BEFORE you make your booking. You will wake most mornings to the beautiful sounds of the native birds, the kookaburras start around 5am - their laugh is truly infectious. We have quite a flock of birds who think our place is their place, impatiently waiting each morning for their breakfast. We now have a beautiful juvenile lorikeet named Diane who crashed in to our window a few months ago - she turned out to be a boy, is absolutely adorable and now part of our family. We've occasionally had 'Kenny' the Koala arrive up a tree, but it's not often. One minute drive you will find the Gumdale shopping centre showcasing different cafes/restaurants as well as the local pub which serves up great food. There should be a store there that will meet all your needs (pharmacy, post office, grocery) As we live in the main house you will always see us pottering. The property is on 2.5 acres with huge protected gum trees. You will see us enjoying, working and relaxing around the area most days (unless John's surfing). We will always respect your privacy, but if you feel like a chat over a cuppa/wine with us, we always enjoy swapping travel stories. I pride myself in being a Super Host and encourage any guests to please let me know if there is something they are not happy with. I always strive to provide a clean, welcoming environment for you, and will do my utmost to ensure you will come back in the future, or recommend Tadpoles' Retreat to fellow travellers. To date the mix of guests that have made Tadpoles' Retreat their home away from home has been truly amazing: 30% are attending either the internationally acclaimed Sleeman Sports Complex or one of the three shooting venues at Belmont. One of our sporting families had one of their 4 sons represent Australia at the Rio Paralympics! To date in one year they have stayed with us seven times. We indeed feel very special. 30% of guests are from countries far and wide. We always try and invite our guests for a dinner (time permitted). We are continually learning about others' cultures and totally enjoy our get togethers. The other 30% of our guests are people often flying/driving interstate for business and/or pleasure. Tadpoles' Retreat seems perfectly located from the airport with no negotiating through built up areas. We are also understanding guests appreciating the direct 4 minute drive to the Gateway Motorway taking them to the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast on day trips. Apart from the charm of the out-of-town neighbourhood, waking up to the birds chirping and the beautiful flowers in the garden... we also loved the comfort of the studio unit. Donna is a very good hostess. In spite of being on the other side of the world when we visited, she was regularly in touch. The unit has all basic amenities and very well thought and planned. The vegie and herb garden just outside the door is a classic element of thoughtfulness. The arrangement of basic food item for breakfast is a great thing Will love to stay there once again when we are on a holiday to enjoy the place properly.

  • I have travelled around the world using Airbnb and this is with out a doubt the best one I've ever been in. Donna was incredibly warm and welcoming; felt like we were leaving home by the end. The self contained unit is perfect and is stocked with everything you could need (and more). The pool was amazing and unlimited access meant we could jump in whenever the Brisbane weather got a little too warm!   • Donna's tadpole retreat was fabulous. It has everything a traveller need. She took care of little nitty gritty details from the food in the fridge to the equipments and essentials needed in a bathroom. You name it she has it. The chili jam and fruit salad was made by her personally. Personally, she was a wonderful host and we even have breakfast with her on the wooden table beside her swimming pool as she shares with us her experiences of Airbnb. She mentioned that she treats all airbnbs like her babies hahaha which personally we felt it. She even help us with our laundry and dry it for us and folded it nicely and left it in our doorstop which was a pleasant surprise. It's advisable to rent a car so you can tour around to more places like we do. The place is at the suburbs. Overall, it was a pleasant and happy stay for us and I'm sure other people will enjoy it too as Donna is amicable.

  • We stayed at the Tadpoles retreat for only two nights. We were sorry we did not stay longer. The studio style apartment is roomy and well appointed as shown in the photographs. The location is perfect for people who like peace and quiet after a days touring. We drove by car however public transport in Brisbane is excellent and you are never to far from a bus or train line. All conveniences are close by. Restaurants and supermarket are a leisurely 15 minute walk. A large shopping mall is only 5 minutes away by car. Gumdale is a pretty neighbourhood and close to lovely coastal towns such as Manly. However, the nicest thing about the retreat is Donna. She is a most welcoming owner and leaves an ample supply of food including homemade jams. Take care with the her Chilli jam. Beautiful but hot. She is always available with a friendly smile.

About the room: Self contained studio with kitchenette, and own bathroom with access to laundry if required. Private access is via sliding doors looking out to the garden and there's also a connecting door to the main house. Train station is an easy 300 metre walk from the house and there's ample Street parking in a lovely quiet neighbourhood.   • We contacted Susan several times and she was prompt and friendly in replying, giving us all the info such as directions, what to do, where to eat. Even though we arrived late (after 8 pm)on Saterday and left early 7.30 am on Sunday that was still fine for her and her husband. She was very welcoming (waiting outside upon arrival) and had even changed the room around so we could use the extra bedding. We had a relaxed long chat with Susan and Trevor and they invited us to sit in there living room which made us feel at home straight away. Although we didn't use the kitchenette facilities it appeared it was well set up with brand new appliances and kitchen utensiles. We loved the homegrown bowl of fruits so homely and tea etc was all there and also milk in the fridge. Bathroom was clean with shampoos and soap etc provided. Bedding was comfortable and clean and extra blankets where to be found in cupboard. Nice private space with outside patio to open up. We enjoyed the quietness in the garden to enjoy our breakfast. We went for a morning walk to explore the beautiful bay area and walked to the island on low tide. Shops and restaurants are right around the corner and so is a trainstation. Plenty of free parking in street. Well done Susan and Trevor for newly Airbnb hosts. I will certainly come back when on another course in the area.

Aside from the bedroom, we were able to use the study, which was really handy for working on the go, and the private bathroom is spacious. They had breakfast for us too, like homemade granola, fruits and toast, as well as a coffee machine, kettle etc. Great internet connection, which you can't take for granted in Australia, to be honest! The whole set-up was perfect for us. We telecommute and were in Brisbane to visit family, so this was the perfect place for us to relax as well as make sure we get our work done. The Stradbroke Ferry and water taxis run pretty well hourly and is at the other end of our street. There are boat ramps closeby & there are parks a two minute walk away where you should be able to spot Koalas.

    Located 5mins drive to the Anna Meares Velodrome and the GC2018 Belmont Shooting Range. Private & self contained, with open plan living & kitchen areas, and french doors that lead to a beautiful sunny covered deck.
    A quiet, semi rural location yet only 18 km (20min drive) to Brisbane CBD and 20min to the airport. Close to the bayside and easy access to the gateway motorway. We are also only an hours drive south to the Gold Coast and north to the Sunshine Coast. We are a few minutes drive to the Anna Meares Velodrome, Sleeman sports centre at Chandler and the GC2018 Belmont shooting range. Plenty of space for parking and camper vans welcome. There is no public transport nearby so having your own vehicle is a necessity. The granny flat can accommodate 2 adults and 2 small children with 2 guests in the bedroom and 2 children on the double sofa bed in the living room. The sofa bed is only suitable for 1 adult. Nightly price is for Maximum 2 adults allowed. Any extra persons will be charged at a nightly rate of $30 per person. There are 2.5 acres of gardens with abundant local wildlife such as possums, kookaburras and cockatoos. We live in the main house within the property so we are on site most of the time. We are happy to give as much help and advice as you require but equally happy to leave you in peace. Gumdale is a semi rural suburb. It's very quiet and peaceful, with lots of wildlife, yet so close to the CBD. We are 5 mins drive from neighborhood shops which include an IGA minimart, pharmacy, bottle shop, subway and many cafes and restaurants. There are stairs up to the deck and apartment level. The apartment is situated below our garage. There may be occasional noise from the roller door opening and closing however we try to keep this disruption to a minimum.
    Gumdale is a semi rural suburb. It's very quiet and peaceful, with lots of wildlife, yet so close to the CBD. We are 5 mins drive from neighborhood shops which include an IGA minimart, pharmacy, bottle shop, subway and many cafes and restaurants. We are ideally situated 5 minutes drive from the Sleeman Sports Centre at Chandler and Belmont Shooting Range.

The shower blew me away... Literally. Wow what a nice powerful shower. Location is about 20 min. Drive to cbd. You need a car to get around.

Camilla and Neal are empathetic to the needs of guest by providing basic food items (salt, pepper, oil, cling wrap etc.) which takes some of the burden of buying some food stuffs. Loved the capsule coffee machine!!! If we travel to Brisbane again, this will be the first place that we will check for availability. Camilla, Neal, Joseph, and Callum (oh .. also Bruno their very friendly poodle who knows his space) were excellent hosts.

    Welcome! I have stayed in a variety of Airbnb places and have done my best to create a space for you that offers all the things I've enjoyed plus all those things that I would have liked! There is ample parking on the street, and you are also welcome to use the driveway for parking. You'll enjoy lovely bayside breezes most afternoons in this light, airy and immaculately clean space. There is also reverse cycle air conditioning and a floor fan for those days when the breeze fails. Once I have greeted you on arrival and provided you with your own set of keys, you will have separate access to the Studio directly from the driveway. The sleeping area includes a comfortable queen-sized & single bed, as well as a wardrobe with hangers that has been added since the photos were taken. I can also provide a single airbed, as well as a portable cot, if needed. There is plenty of storage space so that you are not surrounded by luggage during your stay. The kitchenette is equipped with a small refrigerator, microwave oven, single element cooktop, small baking/grilling oven, electric frying pan, kettle, coffee plunger & toaster. Crockery & cutlery to meet basic cooking needs is also provided. If you need anything else I will happily provide it for you. A small table with four chairs provides a handy place for using your laptop as well as dining. USB chargers, as well as extra power points, are available for your devices. The bathroom includes the toilet and shower, a laundry hamper and hair dryer, and also has ample storage space for your toiletries. PLEASE NOTE that while the unit itself is wheelchair accessible, there are two steps up into the shower. The lounge area has a small TV, DVD player, ChromeCast Dongle, a generous sized, good quality sofa and a comfy old rocking chair. An iron and ironing board are also provided.
    Wynnum is a tranquil family-friendly bayside suburb that boasts great facilities for fishing, sailing/boating, walking, cycling, & kayaking. It has a growing number of interesting little cafes & boutique shops springing up in the central shopping centre, as well as along the Esplanade. It's also a popular spot for op shopping! Of course, fish & chip shops abound! Close by is a Wynnum Plaza which has Woolworths, Coles, KMart and a range of other shops, including a laundromat. Walk to the Wynnum Gold Course! An information Folder about local attractions is provided in the Studio.
  • Jennie is a lovely host! Loved her studio so much! It feels like home. The place was very clean and you would wish to stay there forever! ^.^ She prepared eggs, jam, butter, toasts & milk for us. As we arrived late in the afternoon, that's very convenient for us as we were too tired to hunt for food! Jennie is very efficient at communication, she replied immediately. Not too far to drive to shops. The only problem I found was parking on the steep driveway. I have an injury on my right leg and the slope made it harder for me to get in and out of the car.

  • We arrived in the evening and Jennie was there to greet us with lights on and very welcoming. The accommodation was exactly as described - very comfy bed, well equipped kitchenette, lovely clean self contained and private space. Jennie had provided a few basics for us, bread, milk, butter and eggs for our first breakfast. We never actually saw Jennie again but she sent several messages ensuring that all was going well and making sure we didn't need anything. This accommodation is only 15 minutes drive from the airport and really central to accessing the city, and both motorways to travel north to the Sunshine Coast and south to the Gold Coast. The beach is only a few minutes drive away with lots of nice cafes. Coopers cafe on the esplanade at Manly was our favourite for breakfast. Really yummy food and good coffee. Not too far from the river so accessible to the city cat ferry. We drove to the Apollo Road terminal and caught the ferry all the way along the river for a $5.40 fare, stopping at Southbank for lunch and a look around Thanks Jennie for creating such a nice place to stay Would definitely recommend to my friends visiting Brisbane.

    Brand new room, new luxury bed and furniture. Lush green gardens, it's like staying in a park, but still with in Brisbane City.
    We love our location as it is close to the Bay, the city, the airport, the coast highways, shopping centres, but feels rural as it is a suburb of acreage properties. It is the closest acreage to the city centre.

    A new self contained granny flat. A perfect home base while visiting the local attractions. Stradbroke Island with deserted crystal clear surfing beaches and beautiful white sand.     My aim has been to provide the best comfortable stay at a very reasonable price. Both bedrooms have queen size beds with plenty of hanging space. The bathroom is larger than normal. The food preparation area is in a real kitchen. Fully fitted out with pots, pans, glasses, cups, plates, gas stove and a decent size fridge. A front load washing machine. Fully air conditioned. off street parking
    Directly across the road are large gum trees where Koala's can be seen occasionally during mating season. There is a large park 5 min down the road where you can fish, have a bbq and a play gym for the kids.
  • This place is a gem, being so affordable yet close to the city, Barry was on hand for all our questions both before and during our trip. The unit was very modern and clean, as a family of four it provided more than enough space & so many shopping spots within a few minutes drive. We found a lovely spot for a picnic and dip just down the road. Ask Barry for any local tips, he was so helpful on our stay and we will definitely stay again

Loved the beds better than home, the shower was unreal, the location was better than expected once we got on the right walking path to the shops. And as for Barry & Baxter (the dog) we couldn't say enough, Barry is a brilliant relaxed host, you do the right thing by Baz and he will do the same in return a truly good bloke.     We're lucky enough to be in a very friendly neighborhood. Neighbors on all sides wave and say hello and there are often people out and about exercising, walking dogs or just enjoying the beautiful South East Queensland weather. We have near by Thai, Indian & Chinese restaurants as well as a number of fast food chains, a great butcher, a Woolworths and a number of other shops a 10 minute walk away in the Alexandra Hills Shopping Centre.

Our room was large with a comfy bed and we were able to use the large kitchen. Tom, Caitlin and their friends and family were so welcoming and made us feel completely at home.     Our family home is a large five bedroom house in a quiet cul de sac in the leafy surburb of Thorlands (4164).
    We offer your own private room with a queen bed, with bathroom/shower and seperate living area. Wifi is available plus access to a shared kitchen and dining area with full cooking facilities including microwave, toaster, oven and fridge. There is an outside shared area with BBQ and outdoor eating area. Our large driveway allows for plenty of off street parking. Full access to the laundry is available.
    Our home is located only five mins drive to the local Redland Hospital, it is 3.5 km from Cleveland centre and close to the ferry for picturesque Stradbroke Island which is great for a day trip or a few nights away. The Gold Coast is 45 mins drive offering some of the best beaches in Australia and Theme Parks (Dreamworld, Wet n Wild, Movieworld and Seaworld). The Sunshine Coast is approx 90 mins drive which is home to the world famous Australia Zoo and the pristine Mooloolaba. Brisbane airport is 33 kms and we are 35 kms from Brisbane CBD. Sirromet Winery Mount Cotton is also close by which hosts Day on the Green and Miss Mudder. There are many shops, cafes and restaurants in the Cleveland and Raby Bay Marina which regularly hosts the Raby Bay Triathalon series.

Dee was so welcoming upon our arrival and we were introduced to her beautiful pets, Puss-Kin and Jack, who were so well behaved and loving. Our room was very clean and comfortable, the bed was SO comfy and we had the best night sleep, we enjoyed the tv in our room and our own bathroom was clean with a welcomed hot shower! We were treated to a lovely breakfast by Dee's Dad, who's company we enjoyed immensely. I highly recommend a stay here if you are looking for comfort, a warm welcome and beautiful surroundings.

Dee and her dad Mike were very welcoming and although Dee was away with work most of our stay, we had great chats with Mike. The bedroom was large, light filled, and had a tv. We had our own bathroom next to the room. The full kitchen was available to us and Mike even made us breakfast one morning. It was too cold to swim but the pool looked amazing and we also had access to the outdoor lounge area. The resident dog and cat, Jack and Pusskins were lovely company.

The house itself is at the end of a quiet court and is quite large and fairly new. The room was as described and it was very convenient to have our own bathroom right next door. It was also nice to have our own TV in the room so we could watch the Football. Our breakfast of cereal, fruit and yoghurt, was a great start to the day.     10 minute drive to airport. Quiet ,clean & comfortable home on 5acres, everything you need within 5min walk, shops, hotel, restaurants, post office. Buses 2min walk, trains 20min walk.the house itself is large with deck overlooking 5acres of land and wildlife. I live downstairs. You will enjoy your stay.

  • Kellie is a very nice person and the house is a real retreat. Quite and relaxing with all amenities you would love you have within the price you pay. All arrangement were very satisfying. Quite large rooms with very comfy beds and and new linens and bath stuff. Kellie was always helpful and there for any issues. A big kitchen with all equipments, living room with a 100 inch plasma LED TV and sound system for movie experience was amazing. Nice views from the balcony and terrace. Very fresh air as its set out in an acreage. I totally loved the place and would recommend any one to choose this.

Easy access to the beautiful Moreton islands and Brisbane Airport. Close to rail for city excursions.

  • We stayed at John's place as we used to live in the area and were returning to visit friends. This is a 'true' Airbnb, a really comfortable space, probably the best equipped Airbnb we have ever stayed at, a real home from home. The area is lovely and Brisbane City is easily accessible. It is exactly as described and is actually bigger than what we expected from the pictures. We would highly recommend it. Thank you John & Kate

  • This studio by the bay was great value. It's a lovely room (exactly like the pictures). John and Kate filled the cupboards with food for our use. Check-in was super easy, and Kate was in contact the whole time to coordinate the check-in. I actually booked for my Dad to stay there while visiting me in Wynnum. He said it was very comfortable, but did mention it was a little hot (to be expected in the 30 plus degree days). He also mentioned a little bit of noise with the owners dogs getting a bit excited. But it wasn't enough to spoil the stay, and it certainly didn't impact on his activities or sleep. The laundry was available to use and supplies provided. Parking was easy also. My Dad will be booking again, thanks.

  • Dear John and Kate , Winnie and I really enjoyed our stay with you. This was our first experience of ab&ab and it was very pleasant . The room was spotless and very well appointed . The breakfast supplies were very generous and we would certainly stay with you again when we next visit our son in Wynnum .
