Vacation Rentals in Binalong Bay

Just booked in Binalong Bay

The Bay of Fires Bush Retreat is set amongst a beautiful bush setting, close to the stunning Bay of Fires beaches, and only 2.5km from the Binalong Bay township, and 8km from St Helens. Tom is a well know chef and offers dinner platters as an evening meal featuring home made and locally sourced produce. Breakfast is also available on some occasions and these food options can be booked upon arrival (if you arriving after 4.30pm, please message any food orders ahead of arrival).
Our Bell Tents are cosy and beautifully decorated with comfy king size beds. The Bush Retreat has shared bathroom and kitchen facilities and is a perfect base to explore the Bay of Fires and surrounding East Coast area, including the new mountain bike trail networks at the Blue Tier, Weldborough and Derby. We have 6 Bell tents in total, 3 of which are listed through AirBnB.
The Bush Retreat is located on the outskirts of Binalong Bay on a private Bush Property. A great place to relax and unwind.
  • What a place. Anna and Tom were great hosts. The experience was wonderful. Relaxing and entertaining all in one. The facilities are 5 star. We had the dinner platter and it was delicious. Highly recommend this retreat when you visit Binalong Bay. Thanks Anna and Tom!

  • Anna and Tom have created a beautiful, relaxing space for travellers to the Bay of Fires. Clearly, a great deal of care went into its design. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our first "glamping" experience.

  • Thanks Anna and Tom for making my partner and I feel welcome. I am so glad that I chose your retreat for our anniversary. We loved everything about our stay. The platter and breakfast was so delicious. I definitely will recommend this place to my friends.

  • The Bay of Fires Bush Retreat is OUTSTANDING! This was easily one of the best places I've stayed in Tasmania. It's location is simply stunning only a 5 min drive from the iconic Bay of Fires. The tents are beautiful and very well appointed with warm bedding and power. I'm a cold frog and I would stay here in winter as the tents stay very cosy and there are hot water bottles for anyone will cold toes. The communal area and fires are the perfect place to snuggle up and look at the stars. The showers and toilets are modern and the styling is all very well in keeping with the natural landscape whilst staying modern and minimalistic. Plus the site has fantastic internet access, even in your tent. 10/10 stars! I can't wait to return!

    Michelle2017-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • The retreat was a fund place to stay. It's well designed and comes with a large kitchen. My daughter caught some fish that day and was really happy to have the kitchen facilities to cook them from scratch. Tom is also a wonderful chef. His breakfast was delicious.

    Lauren2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Tom were fantastic hosts. The food was absolutely incredible, the facilities were outstanding for a "bush retreat" we loved our tent and the whole experience. Would definitely do this again! Thanks guys!

    Mel2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a little gem set in beautiful native bush surrounds. All the reviews for this truly remarkable experience are so true and accurate, right down to the super comfortable king beds. I would also highly recommend trying the tasting platter for dinner and the breakfast. Both have more than enough food for two people and a gastronomic delight. Even though it rained constantly while we were there it only added to the ambiance of the experience, who doesn't love snuggling up in a warm need listening to the rain dripped on a canvas tent? We were warm and dry in the tent, and the paths and surrounding area seamed to drain well so the ground didn't get boggy at all.. the run to the toilet was a bit of a pain but not enough to put a downer on our stay. While on the subject of toilets and showers, yes they are well appointed and so much more than you would expect, true GLAMPING...

  • Beautiful accomodation in such a scenic area. The home was so clean and beautifully decorated. The bed was comfortable, but the most amazing thing about this place is the view. We only stayed one night but will definitely be back!

  • Stunning little property! Warm in winter with a gorgeous view. - Check-in at the Bay of Fires Eco Tours office was super-easy - The property was lovely, very clean, very new (not shabby at all) and with a great kitchen - Note there are no restaurants in Binalong - the closest is St Helens, along with supermarket etc. Great location that acted as a base for exploring the gorgeous Bay of Fires.

  • A lovely space, with everything you'll need for a few nights stay in beautiful Binalong Bay. Kathy and Dick were welcoming and gracious hosts. Love this area and would definitely recommend to visit!

    Aislinn2017-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • The 'Tin Shed" is cosy, well-appointed and very comfortable - not what the name immediately suggests! Kathy and Dick are very welcoming and keen to share their extensive local knowledge of the area. A great place to stay!

    Glynn2017-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Tin Shed was a lovely modern, comfortable space that was met with friendly, helpful and personalised service. I would definitely recommend to others!

    Elicia2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely delightful stay at Kathy and Dick's wonderful Tin Shed. Our hosts did everything to make us feel totally at home. The apartment has a high quality finish and is very comfortable. It is located a short stroll away from the Bay of Fires coast and provides a good base for other highlights around the area. Dick gave us some brilliant tips for our trip too. Many thanks Kathy and Dick!

    Michele2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • I wish I had booked to stay longer. Dick and Kathy were wonderful hosts. The Tin Shed was immaculately clean and extremely confortable. Kathy responded immediately to any correspondence and they both looked out for me on my adventure. I was travelling alone for a week and my time in Binalong Bay was magical. I got great tips of things to see from Kathy and Dick and I throughly enjoyed toasting marshmallows on the fire outside. I wish I could bottle up how relaxed I was there and release s little bit every day. Thank you both for a great stay and you thought of everything. Simply wonderful!

    Elaine2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space behind Kathy's home. It is perfect for two people- plenty of space, modern interior and an incredible bathroom! There is undercover parking and an outdoor setting too. No need to wash up either! Thanks Kathy!! It is walking distance to the beach and an easy location to find. Highly recommend!

    Tess2018-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely the most luxurious 'tin shed' anyone can wish for. This private and comfortable studio at the back of Kathy and Dicks' home is spacious and beatifully decorated. The most comfortable bed, soft carpets, underfloor heating in the bathroom and warm towels are just the beginning. Add Kathy and Dick's hospitality, and you are in heaven. Do not make our mistake and stay for only one night. There is so much to do and see in this corner of Tasmania. We also had one of the most enjoyable meals in Lichen, a restaurant on the waterfront overlooking the Bay of Fires,...walking distance from Kathy's place.

    Jay2017-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Anne's house is amazing! The photos don't do it justice, it's brand new, had everything and more you could ever want and was sparklingly clean. The view from the deck is beautiful and it is set on a large beautiful lot. Anne was extremely kind and helpful when we left an item behind. Can't recommend Binnalong Bay and Anne's house more highly.

Although the neighbours are close, the property is quiet and private. A great destination for families travelling together with children. This light and airy, spacious cottage is located in the iconic Bay of Fires Area. Nestled next to coastal reserve and close to kid friendly swimming and snorkelling beaches, it's a great place for the whole family to unwind.
The cottage is open plan and quite spacious and the bedrooms are also quite large. As an added bonus we have an external kids playroom directly opposite the bbq area so Mum and Dad can relax and unwind whilst still keeping an eye on the kids :) We are also bordered by coastal reserve giving you more privacy and only ten minutes to the beach in either direction. An added bonus being this close to our beautiful Australian bush is the distinct possibility of viewing some of our unique local wildlife directly from the dining room window. Parking spaces for three vehicles means plenty of space if you want to bring the boat along.
  • Charming wooden shack, with a delightful verandah at the front bedecked with a table and chairs. We can see the ocean through the trees. We have a choice of three gorgeous bedrooms. There is a large sitting room cum dining room/kitchen all beautifully furnished and decorated in a nautical style and equipped with everything we need. out in the back garden is a delightful patio with sun loungers and at the rear of the garage is a small children’s room equipped with two beds, a tv and loads of games. A perfect retreat in an idyllic setting.

  • Amazing place to stay as a base for exploring the bay of fires. We stayed 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this comfy warm cottage. Susan was a great host & had the place set up immaculately for us to walk in to. The house had its own private view out to the bushland which sits just before the waters edge. So a short stroll down to the water. Will def be recommending this highly to anybody visiting the area & staying there again should we return. Thanks!

    Pete2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was beyond our expectations. Beautifully decorated with everything we could possibly need. The dog friendly yard was fully fenced and the host even left some Schmackos for Floyd which he enjoyed very much. Located at the end of a quiet street and backed onto a reserve, the location was superb, with a small private beach only minutes away. We will be back!

    Gerry2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place with lots of nice little decorations around the place. Loved staying here even though it was only for the night.

    Suvanna2017-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Susan welcomed us personally not long after we had arrived and settled in which was lovely. The property looked just like it's pictures inside and the location was great, apart from some building noise across the road one day, we had easy access to the reserve, beach and local lookout. Everything was thought of at the house, including games, books and dvd's for all ages, laundry and bathroom needs, and bedding, so we had the perfect place to base our travels each day.

    Karen2016-04-23T00:00:00Z

A cosy and comfortable classic, self contained shack, lovingly restored and upgraded, but still retaining character. Enjoy ocean views of the Bay of Fires from our living rooms or in a few minutes, feel beach sand between your toes upon white sands of Binalong Bay beach or in secluded coves enclosed by colourful granite. Relax or be active, with or without your dog, in serene Binalong Bay. At Daisy cottage your hosts offer a personal welcome. We own, clean, and maintain just this one place!
Daisy Cottage is a bright shack with a sunny northerly aspect and sea views. Recline in the sunroom. Explore, swim, walk, fish or sail from or amidst the little coves, the long pristine beach, or the rocky headlands, all in close proximity. Guests enjoy free, NBN internet via WiFi. The cottage has an excellent floor based heat pump for heating or cooling. A quality flatscreen TV, blue-ray DVD, iPod dock / sound system is at your disposal. ALL rooms of this listing are comprehensively photographed. View all rooms, the Cottage front and rear (as well as its great views), in the Photos section.
Daisy Cottage is so close to many seaside choices: * A two minute stroll gives you the pick of three, safe, sheltered sandy coves with intervening expanses of granite. They are just down the hill. The rocks are vantage points for whale watching, which is most rewarding in spring. * A little further afield are more rock pools and a viewing platform where one can gaze north at the Bay of Fires coastline. * In just three minutes walk from Daisy Cottage, 'The Gulch' [the small harbour] is an active spot with a mix of sea birds, boat launching, coffee stop, history display and scenic boat trip departures. There the Duggan family can answer any any local query related to their "i" sign. * Dining or cafe patronage of "Lichen" is but a five minute stroll from your base. [This is the only food provider in Binalong Bay] * Also within five minutes walk is Binalong Bay's iconic fine white sand beach. Many walk it's curved mile. A varied return can be along the rear dune Grants Lagoon track. * A variety of tracks through the native coastal vegetation reserves, leave from Binalong Bay. * Increasingly mountain bike enthusiasts are choosing to combine a coastal stay with the bike adventures of Blue Derby / Atlas descent / Weldborough / Blue Tier descent. All are between 50 and 65 minutes away. We know these places well! Please Note: The service town of St Helens is a 10 minute drive where you can find two supermarkets, chemist, hospital, post office, ATMs, tourist information services, other restaurants, coffee shops etc. It is possibly a good idea to stock up before arrival.
  • This is a fantastic home in a fantastic location. Spectacular Bay of Fire views and only a short walk down the road to the beach. This house is very well presented. I love cooking and the kitchen has everything I wanted, and more. The quality of cookware is better than I have at home! Revel was very helpful, and nothing was a problem. I highly recommend this h destination - if coming to St Helens, why would you stay anywhere else?

  • What a fantastic house. Perfect location, cute set up. A really great place for a getaway.

  • Loved our stay in this cottage. It is cosy with a welcoming feel and a wonderful view of the bay. We particularly appreciated the iPod dock which allowed us to play our own music. The bed was comfortable, the shower hot and the kitchen had all the equipment required to cater for ourselves. Even so , make sure you dine at least once at the nearby restaurant, Moresco.

    Susan2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely old cottage with absolutely stunning views of the coastline. My husband and I, our 10 month old and my parents stayed here for a few days on a tour of Tasmania. The house was very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed for our self-catering holiday (though the newly reopened Lichen restaurant was brilliant for that night we didn’t feel like cooking). The host was very friendly, proactive in getting in touch and made check in a breeze. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Great location very close to the water. The cottage was well appointed, clean and comfortable. Everything just worked with no problems- a result of attention to detail by the hosts. Our host checked in with us and followed up afterwards when there seemed to be an item of clothing left over. Would definitely recommend it.

  • Anne's converted studio is a lovely place to stay in Binalong Bay. Just up the hill from beautiful swimming spots, the house is well located. Binalong doesn't have much in the way of shops and restaurants, but it was a gorgeous place to explore the Bay of Fires and surrounding regions, like Pyengana. Anne's family next door ensured we were comfortable and well cared for, and the apartment itself is cosy, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Thank you Anne!

  • Had an amazing stay. Location was perfect. Lovely little escape from the world.

  • Balmoral Apartment is in the perfect location - amazing view from the lounge room over the bay, 1 minute wal to the beach. The apartment was very clean. The bed was super comfortable! The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to cook our own food which was perfect after a few days camping all we wanted a home-cooked meal. Jane was flexible with an early check-in managed around the previous nights guest check-out and cleaning. We would highly recommend this place to friends - thank you Jane!

  • The apartment is beautiful and right across from the beach and the bay of fire. It was so relaxing listening to the waves at night! Highly recommend Jane's apartment to explore Eastern Tasmania!

  • This place is fantastic for a large group or family with a few kids. Location is about a 10min walk from the beach and from most areas in the house you can't see your neighbours due to the size of the land. There is only very limited phone reception (if you're with Telstra), and very limited 3/4G reception. Best internet is the free WIFI at the phone booth about 2min drive away. Essentially there is no phone reception, but we were happy with that. There is only 1 cafe in Binalong Bay, which is pretty good, but St Helens Town is a 20min drive away with more options. All water is from two large tanks, but is filtered on the property and nice to drink.. If you're looking for a relaxing trip in a nice large place, consider Point Break seriously.

    David2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This house is beautiful very well equipped and essentially one wants for nothing when you walk in the door! St Helens and the shops are 11k away so come prepared. Large family or multiple friends this is the place for you. Chris Wake

The kitchen is well equipped and a generous pantry made for some really enjoyable meals. The sun streams in all day, keeping the house warm and cosy..... the deck is also a lovely sun trap. Check in was simple and all details were warmly communicated by Kazusa. Umi is the perfect pad from which to explore the Bay of Fires - our stay here was the highlight of our Tasmanian trip.

  • We loved Umi house and Binalong Bay, everything exceeded our expectations. Beautiful views, stylishly appointed with quality furnishings made it a pleasure to spend time there. The space is clean, light and peaceful. The beds were very comfy. The accommodation was perfect for our family. We spent quite a bit of time on the deck outside which was great, watching local wildlife while sharing lunches. The local beaches are stunning we loved exploring the coast line. We appreciated the communication we had from Kazusa everything was straightforward. Also the lovely bottle of Tasmanian bubbles we received was delish. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space. Kindest regards Emma

  • Umi Beach house was a wonderful place to stay. David made us feel very welcome and we had a fantastic time. The deck area was wonderful, we cooked some feasts, played games and enjoyed the fire pit. It was also very conveniently located close to the bay of fires with beautiful views. This was one of my favourite places in Tasmania - I hope we'll be back soon!

  • We loved our stay in Binalong Bay. The Loft is spotless, the view is absolutely stunning and the amenities were fantastic. Lots of thoughtful touches from the hosts, Robyn and Ian. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • Absolutely amazing! The pictures do not do this place justice, the views are breathtaking and all the little touches inside will make your stay feel very homely and comfortable. Only down side is that we didn't book longer!

  • Perfect location, stunning views and an impeccably presented property. Hosts were helpful and warm. 5 Stars!

  • Robyn and Ian are perfect hosts and their property is stunning! The views are 'to die for' and the decor is immaculate. It's the 'extras' that we appreciated. Up to date magazines to read, fresh bread and cheese on arrival and enough 'breakfast goodies' to keep both my husband and I happy. We totally recommend staying at The Loft. Kerstin and Brian

    Kerstin2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we stepped through the door, we knew this was a magic place. The accomodation itself is absolutely first class and the views are superb. Our only disappointment was that we only had one night to enjoy everything the house had to offer! Breakfast items were provided and all the furnishings tastefully presented. The hosts, Robyn and Ian, are delightful and super friendly. Our recommendation is to stay here as long as possible, so we need to return in the near future.

  • The best Air B&B experience ever. We really enjoyed the space - stylish, upscale, comfortable. Gorgeous view and great amenities. We arrived to a warm welcome from the host and bread and cheese. They hosts provided eggs, fruit, and espresso for breakfast. It was perfect. I️ will stay there time and time again.

  • Robyn and Ian's place sets the standard for Airbnb accommodation. The Loft is extremely comfortable and well equipped, with high-end appliances and furnishings and a slew of lovely little touches, such as the pantry essentials and the fresh bread. The views are fabulous and you are guaranteed a good night's sleep due to the peace and quiet. We really enjoyed it - our only regret was not being able to stay longer!

  • This lovely beach house exceeded our expectations in every way - the photos just don’t do it justice! The view from the balcony was absolutely incredible. The rooms were spotless, beds were comfortable and the added bonus of a coffee machine and toys were a nice surprise.

    Kate2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The place is just plain awesome!! The view is gorgeous, it is very very clean, wonderfully furnished, everything was great, even the small details. We used the oven which was great, made use of the extensive DVD collection, the Nespresso coffee was great while listening to music via Bluetooth, enjoyed the rainy days to the fullest and the location is great for experiencing the Bay of Fires. Samantha and Richard are wonderful hosts, they answered very quick, they brought over a small Christmas tree and brought a bottle of wine as a present. I can’t mention enough how wonderful it was, we will gladly be coming back!

  • Large, spacious, and clean apartment. While travellers using the OPTUS may find it difficult to get reception on their mobile, the wifi in the apartment was excellent and makes up for it. Apartment was also very near to scenic lookout points at the bay, and St Helens was just a 10 to 15 mins drive away.

  • This was a great place to stay. Tucked away in the bush but still close to the beach The setup was great. Kitchen well stocked, loved the outdoor shower and enough space for two.

  • We loved staying at the Eco Retreat. Really one of a kind experience if you are looking to get away! However also 5 minute walk to one of the world's most beautiful beaches - Binalong Bay! The decor and furnishing is tasteful and thoughtful. The best part was the local kookaburras surrounding the place! Definitely want to go back!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Jeremy's Eco hut. It was very relaxing and despite being in the middle of town, it was so lovely and quiet we felt like we were the only ones there. The outdoor toilet was very clean. We definitely hope to come back again one day!

  • Very secluded, and within walking distance to Binalong Bay beach, one of the best beaches I have ever been to! Outside toilet/shower are a nod to camping - without the uncomfortable tent bed. Perfect for something a bit different.

    Kath2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of a place, well-appointed, comfortable and a bit funky. The outdoor shower is actually a lot of fun! Provided it's not too cold I suppose . . . Highly recommend!

  • A secret hideaway that is everything it says it is.We loved our stay so close to the sea but with privacyy amongst the Bush and the birds. Super comfy bed which though a double was excellent says my 188cm husband. Sparkly clean - everything we needed was there and Jan was very helpful providing an emergency iron and board. Communication between us was exceptionally thoughtful and efficient. Will stay again and longer next time!

Binalong Bay is much more intimate with only the one restaurant/cafe, Lichen.

  • The house is situated in a fantastic, scenic location, a stone's throw from the water. The accomodation was very comfortable and well equipped. There is no mobile phone coverage (well on our networks) which we utterly enjoyed. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this accomodation.

  • Beautiful location and view. Everything as described and a wonderful place to stay - retro, not luxury but comfortable and clean.

    Cathy2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A charming shack that was perfect for our small family to explore the Bay of Fires beaches, relax and recover after time camping and on the road. Enjoyed the comfy beds, soft towels, well-equipped kitchen, beach house trinkets, books and games, and the fab location right opposite the beach (perfect for sunsets down at the boat ramp). Would recommend for anyone looking for some down time and who is interested in the stunning coastline.

  • This was our favourite place to stay in Tassie! Binnalong Bay and surrounds are just spectacular. The house has a great beach shack holiday vibe and is in a nice location with relaxing views. Teenage son loved having a separate apartment downstairs. I hope to return to this part of the world. Thanks Elizabeth :)

"The Shack" fronts directly on to a pristine beach in the heart of the Bay of Fires Conservation area rated by Lonely Planet as one of the best two natural beaches in the world. Guests are visitors world-wide. It is a small, simple stand-alone timber home to suit the environment with uninterrupted views from every angled window and its three decks. A genuine relaxing respite. Most suitable for couples, artists, photographers, walkers, divers and environmentalists.
The Queen-size bed with feather doona is on a mezzanine level. There are stairs and high decks which makes it unsuitable for small children. All necessary comforts are there, easy to rearrange to your liking eg bbq can be wheeled to front or back deck. A torch is suggested to spot the wild-life or follow the track to the beach at night.
The position of "The Shack" allows privacy with houses some distant apart. Please email or phone me before disturbing neighbours unless in an extreme emergency.
  • Chris, you were a wonderful host! From the emails to the text messages I cannot fault you. The Shack was amazing. I have no words for the location - absolutely superb! It was just so breathtaking and I feel so lucky to have stayed there. Thanks so much and I hope I’m lucky enough to stay again in the future. Geoff & Sarah.

    Sarah2018-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The location and view is exceptional. Yards from a beautiful pristine and isolated beach with plentiful wildlife.

    Andrew 2017-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Shack is located beautifully, just above a secluded beach, with fantastic views from the deck. It's a simple accomodation but has everything one needs. We had a fabulous time, enjoying the serenity of the location and long walks along the empty beach. I would definitely recommend going if you're looking for a vacation home that's off the beaten track.

    Louise 2018-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and comfortable, great deck for watching the sun and the ocean. Beautiful part of the world

    Sandy2018-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location with good view of the beach. Second bedroom is small and has little room for luggage. There is no shelter between the bedrooms and the bathroom and toilet and the winds shake the bedroom rooves.

    Vivien2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice good.

    James2017-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Binalong Bay is a beautiful location and the view from the living area gives glimpses of the Bay of Fires. Apart from the main living area the house consists of a number of Colorbond sheds accessed by a steep sloping walkway. As such the description "Balinese style" is misleading. There is a laundry which houses the shower and therefore there is not a conventional bathroom. An uncovered walkway from the bedrooms to the toilet is a problem on a rainy night for anyone who needs to go to the toilet during the night. Otherwise, all was neat and clean and in a good location.

    Ester2017-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very well presented. Very well stocked with utilities and supplies. Everything was really easy to find and there was an abundance of utensils available. The house is quite roomy and the bedrooms were really cozy and beds were comfy. Everything was really clean and refreshing. Well lit up and beautiful view out to the ocean. We really enjoyed our stay there.

    Del2018-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Clean & well appointed beach house in a beautiful part of the world. Good value for money. However, as bedrooms & bathroom separate from main house & each other don't think it would suit couple with young children. Also would be difficult in bad weather.

  • We had a bit of trouble opening the key safe due to unfamiliarity. The house was a lovely space with very cozy settings and decorations. However, it would be good to have some additional heating facilities as the house can get a bit chilly at night. Neighborhood was quiet and perfect for relaxing with nice views. The drive to the accommodation was made enjoyable with the scenic views. :)

    Xin Er2015-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A great spot, really meant getting away from it all. The house was extremely comfortable and we elated in the lounge, made good use of the kitchen and the bed was extremely comfortable. Definitely ensure you bring all your own groceries. We walked along the various rocky and sandy beaches, I did one of the bush walks directly from the house (Skeleton Point) which was easy and pleasant. We went for a drive to The Gardens which was fabulous and got all our supplies from St Helen. We also did the most wonderful driving to and from Binalong - from Coles Bay and then to Launceston. We stopped at Pyengana, went to St Columba Falls (stunning) and the cheese factory for tasting. Binalong and Bay of Fires us a Tassie must - loved the landscape and peace and quiet.

  • Sharon and Rob's place is a perfect getaway. We loved the view of the bay down the driveway, from the deck, the bedroom and the lounge. We loved the slow combustion fire and the comfy, cosy bed. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and it was a delight to just sit on the deck, watch the birds in the trees, the sun going down, the glorious starry night and have such a peaceful place in which to relax. Would definitely recommend.

Or sit on the veranda deck and watch and listen to wave’s crash on the rocks below. From the deck spot our local pair of Tasmania Sea Eagles who nest nearby, as they soar and wheel over the house, tall trees and surrounding bays in search of their next snack, and the family of wallabies who dine on the grass below in the evenings. The surrounding bush is full of native birds. Far Horizons at Binalong Bay is nestled between Humbug National Park and the Bay of Fires conservation area, and is a few minute’s walk down to Skeleton Bay. It is located within easy walking distance of the world renowned Bay of Fires stretch of pristine beach of Binalong Bay, the local boat ramp, a café-restaurant with breathtaking views, and Eco Tours, open daily, where you can enjoy great coffee and panoramic views. If you prefer, you can launch your boat from the unique Binalong Boat Harbor Point to enjoy Tasmania's premier game fishing areas or explore the endless white sand and crystal clear waters of the numerous beaches. Book the local tennis court for a hit of tennis down on the waterfront, whilst the children play in the playground and have a BBQ down on the green. Go surfing on the local beach or snorkeling, kayaking or boating on the local beaches and lagoons. It’s worth noting that Binalong Bay was voted by a well-known travel magazine as the second best beach in the world. For the more adventurous go out diving to see the protected Weedy Sea Dragons or spot some Boar fish. Jump in the car and take a short 10 minutes’ drive into St Helens where you can visit the galleries, grab a coffee and local cake. Then go visit the Village Providore for a wonderful selection of Tasmanian treats like honey, cheeses, wines or homemade deli items and local meats. Or take a stroll down to the waterfront. If you like golf there is a pleasant little golf course. On the way home drop into Lease 65 for plump local oysters. For an exciting day trip a short drive takes you to the St Columbia Falls, the Pyengana Cheese Factory and its Holy Cow Café or visit the Pub in the Paddock, the Shop in the Bush, and even the famous Blue Tiers at Poimena for extensive walks including a visit to Halls Falls. The Goblin Forest Walk is rated one of the 50 best walks in Tasmania. Or drive south along the coast and visit Bicheno, where you can see the blowhole and visit Nature World to meet the cute Tasmanian Devils and lots more wildlife. What about a visit to Wineglass Bay at Freycinet or the wineries and a boutique beer brewery - whatever takes your fancy.

  • What a special place! The family loved everyday, including our little dogs! The photos really don't do this place justice. There is plenty of room, and the setting is just so peaceful looking out over the bushland and listening to the ocean. It is a private, simple, comfortable and relaxing place to stay in the amazing Binalong Bay. Outstanding value for money for a week stay. Was at pains to leave and can't wait to return.

  • Pamela's place is located in the beautiful Binalong Bay within easy walk to stunning Bay of Fires beaches. We were 7 adults and the house was more than large enough to accommodate us all comfortably. The house is well stocked with all the basics and the wallabies that came out to graze on the lawn in the early afternoons was just the cherry on top for this lovely place.

  • We loved this house, so much space and in a fantastic location with lots to explore in the surrounding area. Pamela was a wonderful host, very welcoming and quick to respond to communication. A quote from smh's news article..."The Bay is described by Lonely Planet as "a castaway bay" with a 29 kilometres ribbon of sea and surf spooling out from the old whaling town of St Helens, on Tasmania's north-east coast. "White beaches of hourglass-fine sand, Bombay Sapphire sea, an azure sky - and nobody," the guide says. "This is the secret edge of Tasmania, laid out like a pirate's treasure map of perfect beach after sheltered cove, all fringed with forest. "It's not long since the Bay of Fires came to international attention, and the crowds are bound to flock. Now is the time to visit." • Jan is a terrific host! I can't say enough great things about her or her place. The views are absolutely stunning and the house is beautifully decorated. It was a very windy day and night while we were there so we didn't get to take advantage of the wonderful decks (with lovely outdoor eating and seating space) but I imagine that it would have been wonderful to do so. I would happily stay at this AirBnB again! Thanks Jan!!

  • The stay at Larapuna Place was very pleasant. Even though you are close to Binalong Bay and The Garden, you feel like you are in the middle of the bush. Aari was a great host and very helpful.

  • The location of this house is wonderful - it’s a short drive to the spectacular Bay of Fires beaches. The house itself is lovely and there is a nice communal bbq area and gym area available. The rooms are a good size and the bathrooms are fresh and clean. The family do live above so expect to hear some noises / footsteps!!

  • We had a lovely stay at Molly and Aari’s place while exploring the nearby Bay of Fires. Great location, brand new room and very welcoming hosts. Perfect for our short stay, and especially enjoyed using the bbq to cook our dinner.

  • We were Aari first guests. Very comfortable well appointed room, looking out over the peaceful surroundings in a bush property just outside Binnalong Bay . Covered BBQ area with a large table and comfy sitting area. Aari was very welcoming, his sons were delightful and very dog friendly. This is a lovely place to stay, very close to beaches, Binalong bay and StHelens, but placed peacefully in the bush.

  • It was a wonderful place to stay! Just a perfect spot to explore the Bay of Fires and Mount Willam N.P. The house is modern, well equiped (except Wifi) and spacous. If I should ever come back to Tasmania, I hope this house will be available. David responded quickly by SMS or e-mail and hand-over of keys was done without e personal meeting. David provides two folders with lots of information about the area and the house, very helpful.

  • Set is a peaceful location, with minimal noise we could hear the birds chirping and the waves crashing on the beach and then there was the view - spectacular - better than I had imagined - more impressive than advertised. The house was clean and tidy with lovely linens being provided along with a carton of milk in the fridge upon our arrival! Con had given us a briefing on the self check-in so we knew what to expect and what was required of us. He was quick to answer my enquiry and any other questions I had. This made for a very relaxing albeit short stay. Highly recommended.

Wonderful views from the deck. The place was also equipped with everything we needed to make our Christmas roast! Excellent WiFi and entertainment facilities. We called Con with a question and he was extremely helpful and friendly. Would recommend!

  • Brilliant beach house with amazing view. Appreciated the cleanliness and lovely linen. The table tennis table got a thorough workout! The beaches just at the doorstep are the most beautiful we've ever seen - we feel so lucky to have discovered this place. Thanks Matt for the friendly welcome and helpful hints from a local.

    Penni2016-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The location is walking distance to the start of the Bay of Fires - the beach area is lovely. We walked down there and spent some time walking over the rocks and then watched some locals fish which attracted some pelicans - was very cool. The house is really big - great living area and kitchen. The deck has a nice view of the ocean and is great for breakfast. Also, under the house is a games room with pool and ping pong. The backyard is really big. This place would be great for a family. Oysters!! If you love Oysters, you should go here.

    EMMA2016-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • All good. Cosy and warm with the fire going. Bed was great as were the linen & towels, etc. Residential area with a great view & balcony space. Nothing much in Binalong itself. A restaurant & a newish coffee outlet. St Helens has the lot though.

  • We were very happy with the house, there was so much space inside and out and we had a ball making pizza’s in the pizza oven. We were a group of couples with a few bubs and the layout of the accom was great for this. Also a very easy and enjoyable walk to the beach.

  • Lyndall and Jan’s holiday home was scenic , beautifully decorated and perfect for a large group or a few family’s. It has an excellent outdoor area to watch the amazing sunsets over the ocean. Also very spacious inside the house with two living areas. They had stocked the house so well with the essentials specially for visitors that would only be staying a few nights such as washing powder, tea, coffee, milk and maps of the local area. Was a wonderful place to stay and would come to visit again.

  • The house had everything we needed for great stay. It is well positioned for the beach and visiting the Bay of Fires and St Helens. We loved the pizza oven and watching the birds in the garden.
