In early September the area hosts the Rush Bearing Festival and the Norland Scarecrow Hunt - information on these can be found in the information folder or the websites.
  • Wonderful and cosy barn, super stylish and modern too. Susan was a great host, it had everything we needed including fresh eggs! Great location- walked to pubs and not far from some great hills.

  • What a wonderful lodge in the heart of some beautiful scenery. Fantastic for chilling out and relaxing especially in the hot tub

    Gillian2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute fantastic place to stay, couldn’t have asked for more. Beautiful views, fresh eggs and a baby lamb to watch out of the kitchen window 🥰🥰 The barn is new and modern, beds and linen beautiful, I wish we had stayed longer.

    Lucy2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is a home away from home, it has everything you need! Great value for money and in a great location for a little break away! Some lovely places around to go walking or for some food but the barn also has great facilities if you want to just stay in play games and cook. The views are incredible and can’t forget to mention how cute the animals are especially Sue’s dog! Highly recommend x

    Rachel2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is very stylish, sparkling clean and nicely decorated - modern yet homely. It had everything we needed for our stay, and the fresh eggs were a lovely touch. The barn's location is excellent; you have enough privacy but you're not completely isolated. The local village is a 5 minute drive away with plenty of shops should you need something. Communicating with Susan was straight-forward and easy. There were plenty of recommendations for local attractions/experiences which were very much appreciated. The barn really completed our escape from the city life, and we would definitely recommend staying here - it's great value for money too. Thanks again Susan!

  • Beautiful barn, with stunning views. We were attending a wedding at the fleece inn and it was a perfect location for us. The kitchen/ lounge area plan is a great place for socialising. Rolling countryside views with sheep and chickens who love to be fed! Good communication from Susan. Would recommend.

Fabulous studio flat just a few minutes walk from Hebden Bridge centre. There is a combined bedroom/living room, shower room and compact kitchen area with microwave oven, fridge, freezer and everything you need for your mini break, including teas, coffees and breakfast cereals. There are books, board games and a TV/Radio with DVD player. On street parking is available 10 to 20 meters from the front door. The Cabin' is quirky and cosy. Simply gorgeous!
We have converted the ground floor of our home into a mini apartment. It has privacy mirror glass to ensure you enjoy our cosy hideaway. There’s seating outside in a small garden area and fantastic views of Hebden Bridge and the valley. We would like to assure all guests that, particularly at this time of coronovirus, your stay at The Cabin will be safe and enjoyable. Between guests The Cabin will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, following Air BNB guidelines due to coronavirus. Bedding and towels will be washed in high temperatures, frequently touched surfaces will be disinfected, a box will be left by the entrance for outer garments to be placed in. You can request to use the washer and dryer if need be. We have new super comfy swivel chairs so you can watch TV or enjoy the amazing view over Hebden Bridge town. There are books, games, DVDs, TV, radio and a small kitchen. We provide milk, snacks, cereals and a full range of teas and coffees. Local restaurants are offering delivery and take outs. Hebden Bridge is a rural town in a beautiful valley offering amazing views over woods and moors. You can walk or cycle directly from The Cabin up hills to Stoodley Pike ( look for the Honesty Hut) or Hardcastle Craggs. There are scenic flatter routes along canals and rivers. If it’s warm enough there is seating outside The Cabin. All the best from your hosts, Stella and Toby.
In Hebden Bridge we pride ourselves on acceptance and inclusion. The 'village' has many amenities you would normally find in a city (theatre, independent cinema, railway station) but within a beautiful country setting. The village has 3 rivers and one canal, and many small woods. There are festivals and events throughout the year. To find out more contact the tourist information web site or Hebden’s own web site: HEB WEB The valley is superb for cycling and walking plus it has a lively cafe culture and a variety of wine bars and pubs with quirky independent shops and art galleries. Nearby are Howarth, Heptsonstall, Holmfirth, Todmorden and Halifax with the fantastic Piece Hall and Anne Listers home, Shibden Hall, all worth a visit.
  • This was my first experience with airbnb and I am probably now spoilt as this was such a lovely place to stay. I especially appreciated the snacks and eco washing up liquid and small touches that made it a very comfortable stay. I would highly recommend.

This character cottage is a 10-15 walk from the centre of Hebden Bridge with street parking outside. The property has been recently renovated to a very high standard and includes all amenities of a functioning home. The accommodation has beautiful period features with some modern twists. Facilities include two bedrooms both with double beds, a bathroom with large shower, open spacious kitchen/living room, beautiful garden and plenty of storage inside and out. !!!DOG FRIENDLY!!!
The walk into Hebden Bridge can be done along the scenic canal, with a café and award winning pub just around the corner. Hebden Bridge is a thriving town recently voted the UK's most unspoilt and best independent shopping town.
Originally Hebden Bridge was seen as a "Hippie Hideout" but as the town has changed so has it's residents and visitors. It is now becoming increasingly cosmopolitan and bohemian as artists, performers and the LGBTQ community started following in the footsteps of the first hippies. The town is becoming increasingly popular with tourists/walkers/bikers etc. Furthermore, Hebden Bridge has recently been voted the UK's most unspoilt and best independent shopping town.

Our apartment is perfect for a couple or a family to self-isolate in a beautiful part of the country. The scenery around here is absolutely stunning but it is not a busy tourist area. You can easily get right up onto the moors where you often won't see a soul. So if you fancy getting away to be with nature and do some walking, or some fishing in our stocked millpond then this is the perfect venue for you! **Now with an Electric Vehicle Charging Point for the use of guests*
It has been our life's passion to rebuild this wonderful coaching house into the most amazing country home imaginable! Far too magnificent to keep to ourselves,we invite you to come and enjoy it too! The apartment sleeps 4 people in 1 double and 1 twin room and is a wonderful space in the most beautiful countryside! It's a fabulous open-plan space - fresh, light, airy, modern, stimulating and ingenious with some extraordinary touches: Japanese style screens around the raised double bed in the main room, metal and perspex stairs leading to a cosy twin roof room - high tech meeting old timbers. Marvellous chunky beams, wide planked floors, original art on subtle walls.
This is a fabulous area for entertainment and eating places, we are extremely lucky! We have theatres, cinemas, music venues, museums and galleries within a 15 minute drive and Leeds and Manchester are both very easy to get to. Just ask and we will let you know what's going on. Of course - the beautiful Pennine landscape is right outside the door offering wonderful walking, bird watching, mountain biking and touring opportunities so you can just show up and chill out if you want to! The recently restored Piece Hall in Halifax is a must with its International feel, cafés, bars, theatre and cinema.
  • A lovely space created from an interesting conversion. Great host and well placed for visiting the Calder valley

    Liz2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Super base for exploring Calderdale. The apartment is cozy and warm with nice styling. Plenty of room for a family. It is well kitted out with equipment, great kitchen and plenty of books to read watching the ducks in the mill pond. 15 minutes drive from either Halifax or Hebben bridge.

    Troodon2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing apartment with fantastic views of the hills in an amazing location. The apartment itself is light, airy, well furnished, and full of everything you would need for a long or short break. The kitchen has all you need for a huge meal and more. The bedroom was lovely and very uniquely styled. There are a few steps around but nothing too serious once you are in the apartment. Hilly, the owner, was so helpful when we arrived and offered local guidance and help if we would have required it. We would have no qualms about staying here again.

    Judith2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Three of us enjoyed a lovely two night stay at Hilly’s place - wish we had stayed longer. Hilly was a very welcoming host and took time to talk to us about restoring the barn and also about her art which is really interesting. The apartment has lots of great touches and the most is made of the space. The kitchen is well stocked, comfy bed, cosy living space and decent shower. There are plenty of books to read if you want to relax in the apartment. Hilly left us a few bits to get us started-eggs, bread, milk which was very thoughtful. We found the apartment to be in a good location for getting out and exploring. There are a couple of pubs within walking distance- the Lord Nelson Inn wasn’t serving food when we popped in but we had a quick drink and chat with the friendly locals and headed down to the Weavers (half hour walk back to apartment or cheap taxi ride otherwise!) decent food if you don’t fancy cooking yourself. One of our best Airbnb stays, thanks Hilly (and family) for making us feel welcome.

    Sarah2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • The barn was perfect for our stay over Christmas. It’s an amazing space in a fantastic location. Hilly was very accommodating and we would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

  • Jill is an amazing host with a property to match. The cottage has everything you need inside it, and it is located on a private and peaceful plot of land. You can park your car right outside the door, and it has a nice big garden for dogs to play in. The cottage is immaculate and we loved the little surprise treats Jill left for us on our arrival including the dog biscuits for our dogs Coco and Lucky. We had a lovely few days staying at this property and would recommend it. There are plenty of places to eat near by, and we enjoyed visiting Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. Thank you Jill!x

    Clare2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a real gem! Lovely welcome touches like treats for the dog, milk and tea bags as well as chocolate for us. Nice decor with everything you need and no fussy clutter. Great setting. Wonderful walks. The alma inn was great and welcomed the dog. Hosts on hand if you need them but totally respected our privacy too. I would highly recommend this place and would like to return when the weather is brighter.

    Tracey2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage offers a great base for visiting local areas. All spotless and modern amenities close enough to hosts but private too.

  • Jill and Matts place was amazing. Everything from the location to the communication was 5 stars. We booked a last minute weekend away to explore the area with the dog. And it didn’t disappoint. Jill and Matt were so thoughtful, messaging exact directions, leaving us a welcome gift and even leaving the dog some treats and her own towel. The cottage was spotless, it had everything you could possibly need and more. Jill and Matt were both available on the phone should we need anything. We would 100% recommended this place. So much so, we’re going to book again in a few weeks and my parents are looking at staying too, thank you so much to both of you. Ricky, Rebecca and Cleo xx

  • Lovely , cosy little cottage in an idyllic location. There are some beautiful walks in the surrounding area....perfect for dogs!! There are some lovely touches with Jill providing all the essentials that you need in the cottage such as tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and everything needed to cook. Some really useful tips on the local area and good internet and TV......we will return and I highly recommend

    Andy And Rachel2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very helpful host from the start of the booking to the departure, even allowing us an extra hour to check out. All the little things that you normally have to take away with you for a weekend were supplied ie cooking oil, kitchen towel, toilet roll, hand soap, towels and even a towel for the dog (although I took my own as never imagined these would be provided). A welcome pack which we devoured, this included milk, chocolate, cakes, sweets and biscuits for the dog. The cosy cottage was spotlessly clean, it felt as though we were the first people to stay in a newly renovated place, even though we were not! Very impressed and would highly recommend. Excellent value for money.

    Joanne2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is perfect for a small family like ours (with a toddler and a 4-year old). The space is super clean, cosy and child friendly. Kitchen has everything one needs for a short stay and more. We particularly enjoyed the stunning walks and local pub. Having the tv in the lounge helped us relax with the little ones at night after long days out. The location is perfect for both urban and countryside experiences. We couldn’t recommend this place more. Jill is a fantastic host.

A traditional weavers cottage in the hill top village of Midgley overlooking the Calder Valley. An ideal location for hill walking, fell running, cycling or just relaxing in a beautiful setting. A short walk away from Midgley Moor with it's historic standing stones and burial chambers, or a short distance from Hebden Bridge with it's independent shops, cafe's and restaurants. Ideal for a weekend away in a traditional Yorkshire Stone cottage with mullion windows. Well behaved dog welcome.
66 Towngate is a cosy cottage with underfloor heating downstairs. The house is practical and comfortable. The views are absolutely stunning and although the cottage is just below the moor, access to Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd is very good.
Midgley is a small hilltop village. The people are very friendly. You will meet the locals, dog walkers, mountainbikers and horse riders. The local shop is run by very helpful volunteers from the area. Next to the shop is the community room which is open at times for tea and cake or an evening talk or quizz.

  • Superb little place, has everything you need to get away from it all and decompress. Warm, very clean. Plenty utensils, everything you need to feel at home. Kaya was also very kind to leave milk in the fridge. Walks in area, particularly up the back of the house / northwards are great: bring boots though!

Set in the steep and stunning Luddenden Valley within 13 hectares of beautiful Calderdale countryside, Jerusalem Farm Barn is a barn conversion set close to Jerusalem Farm Campsite and is surrounded by a landscape of woodland valleys and high moorland plateaux. With a welcoming atmosphere and accessibility-friendly facilities, Jerusalem Farm Barn is a perfect place to enjoy the local nature reserve, which provides a safe haven for woodland birds, woodpeckers, herons and deer.
Jerusalem Farm Barn was created with people with accessibility needs in mind. The barn is fully accessible for wheelchair users and has facilities including a hoist which runs from the bedroom to fully accessible en suite bathroom and profiling bed . With its own extensive network of footpaths, Jerusalem Farm Barn also makes an ideal base from which to access the wider countryside, which is largely protected for its breeding bird population and can be easily accessed by foot or push bike through an extensive and well marked network of public rights of way. The camp site and the spacious grassy areas below the barn are also accessible by wheelchair. Situated between Halifax and Hebden Bridge, the site is perfect for exploring the surrounding South Pennines, an area rich in both natural and industrial archaeology. The mill towns of Sowerby Bridge and Mytholmroyd (the birthplace of former Poet Laureate Ted Hughes) are nearby, with Hebden Bridge particularly good for day trips, with cafés, galleries and a grand old picture house. Haworth, home of the Brontës, is just a few miles over the moors. "Eureka!", The National Children’s Museum in Halifax (for big and little kids) can be reached in around 20 minutes as can the Grade I listed Piece Hall. The green oasis of Shibden Estate with its park and hall, soon to be seen on TV in the BBC/HBO drama Gentleman Jack. Jerusalem Farm is owned and operated by Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council
Jerusalem Farm is set in the picturesque Luddenden Valley. This community is dominated by small cottages and farms, and has a extensive network of footpaths which included the nationally recognised trails The Calderdale Way and Pennine Way. Two small villages can be located in the Luddenden Valley. Luddenden with Grade II listed Lord Nelson Pub, once regularly frequented by the famous Branwell Bronte, and Midgley which its community run local shop.
  • This is great if you want to get away from it all. Having no phone signal was a bonus as we all talked to each other and played games. We enjoyed nature being literally on our doorstep. Any questions we had were answered very promptly. We are looking forward to returning in the future.

    Alexandra2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect property for my elderly Mum with mobility issues. Also large communal space for everyone to be together, especially liked that the kitchen area was open plan so if like me you end up doing the cooking you don't feel detached from the rest of the party.

    Lorraine2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay in a magnificent setting. This is my second year staying here and it was perfect in every way. The accessibility features such as hoist and electric bed made the perfect place to stay even better. Can't wait to stay again soon

Large studio flat on 3 levels within original Sanctuary of Westwood. - kitchen and dining area; main living area & upper level; separate bathroom (with a bath).

  • This was the perfect place for a tranquil weekend. Great location, value for money, and has everything you need. The kitchen is simple but had everything necessary to cook all my meals. There were no spices/seasoning so remember to bring your own. I couldn’t find a chopping board or good knife - but I’m sure Nikki would have responded if I felt I needed these! The bed was big and very comfortable. Will be coming back again in the future!

  • I highly recommend this place. Everything was exactly as described, including the wonderful views and scenery! Checking in was very straightforward, and the room is large, warm and very clean. I cooked all my meals there and found everything that I needed. It was exactly what I wanted for a restful weekend. Thank you Ellie.

Private self-contained studio flat in stone cottage. The space has a double bed, 2 comfortable chairs, dining table and chairs, fireplace with electric stove, central heating. There is a small kitchen area with sink, kettle, toaster, combination microwave/oven/grill and fridge. There is a shower room with wash basin, loo and electric shower.
This is a 'granny flat' located on the ground floor of a family house. It is completely separate from the rest of the house, although it is on the same central heating system. It's got everything you would want for a short or even long stay, with a kitchen and dining space and comfortable seating area. The space is perfect for short or long stays. We offer a discount on stays of a week or more. Check in is after 12 noon, but we can be flexible, contact us if you want to arrive earlier, it may be possible. Check out is 11am, similarly talk to us if you want to stay longer than that.
This is a lovely quiet neighbourhood, it feels like a village on the outskirts of Halifax. We look out over the valley, and are on the edge of lovely woods. We're very close to the iconic Wainhouse Tower and are surrounded by lovely countryside and parks. There is a Tesco within a few minutes walk, and lots of good places to eat and drink nearby, including the wonderful Big 6 pub. If you want ideas about places to eat please ask us. The Tower House Hotel is a very short walk away - handy if you are attending a wedding or event there but don't want to stay at the hotel.
  • Staying at Anne and John's place was so relaxing! I had an entire flat to myself which was brilliant because I needed to get a lot of work done. Anne and John are super kind. They left me to myself but were always available to answer any questions I had. They know loads about the area and are always up for a nice chat. Anne even agreed to let me use her washing machine because I was going to travel on after check-out, which is amazing, not everybody is OK with that. The view is amazing, you can see the entire valley and Sowerby Bridge at the foot of the hill. And the bed was the most comfortable one I've ever slept in. Definite recommendation from me, if you come to Halifax or Sowerby Bridge, stay with Anne, you'll be well looked after.

The Lookout is part of Westwood Christian Centre - a 19th century church building converted into beautiful self-contained flats. The moment you walk into The Lookout - after you have caught your breath from the incredible views over the Colne Valley -- you will notice the beautifully retained features of the church building. Spacious and high-ceilinged, the Lookout studio flat is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, or people needing to get away from it all.
The Lookout provides self-catering accommodation with a well-equipped kitchen. The main living & dining area features two beautiful clear glazed arched windows; lovely views to South West and North West and as well as central heating, there is a gas fireplace - which you are more than welcome to use. There is also access to a washer, dryer and iron in a separate utility room in the building which we can make available to you upon request. We have awe-inspiring landscapes on our doorstep, and we are nestled in the Pennine hills surrounded by rambling walks and stunning views. Located in Bolster Moor, you can discover what neighbouring Yorkshire villages (Golcar, Scapegoat Hill, Slaithwaite) have to offer. We intentionally don't have any televisions in the flats, however, we do have WiFi and 4G if you do need to catch up with the world.
We're set in a lovely little community up on a hill, overlooking the village of Slaithwaite.
  • We had an all round 5* stay here at Westwood. Even in the rain and storms The Lookout provided spectacular views of West Yorkshire and it was a warm, calm and spacious place to retreat to. Ellie was always on hand if we needed anything and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely be back!

  • Such a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful place. The kitchen is very well appointed and the flat is airy and spacious. Loved being ensconsed in a 19th century church, its structure being beautifully preserved. Old narrow roads made it somewhat challenging to navigate the short distance to town, but that comes with the territory. The hosts/wardens are wonderful, warm, and helpful.

    Marty2019-10-14T00:00:00Z

  • Superb place - lovely surroundings, good furnishings, spotlessly clean and great value for money. I met Jake on my arrival and he was really helpful and pointed out a few places to go in the local area. The location itself is great - amazing views and only a short drive to nice local town/shops. Incredibly peaceful atmosphere, and the quality of the apartment itself is great in both furnishings and cleanliness, especially when you consider the price. Would definitely come back, thank you.

Enjoy time away in my beautiful large peaceful attic bedroom. The room is light and south facing with fantastic views over Hebden Bridge. Just a few minutes walk into town or woods. Tea and coffee making in your room. En suite wc and sink. Longer stays welcome. If you are using instant book please tell me a bit about yourself at the same time and the reason for your visit.
I live in a beautiful Victorian terraced house on a quiet street with easy access to town and country. My house is spacious, welcoming and well equipped and you will feel at home when you are here. Also the room is beautiful and private and the views are spectacular.
Hebden Bridge needs no introduction! I live here not only because of its physical beauty but also because of its culture, people and access to nature. The woods are literally five minutes walk from my house but it's also only 10 minutes to walk into town and experience life there. Plenty to do during the day and evening: cafes, theatre, wine bars, cinema, fair trade shopping, pop up arts events; festivals ; Trades Club. Or just sit by the river and enjoy the water and the people who pass by. Great food for vegetarians, vegans and carnivores both here and in our neighbouring town of Todmorden.
  • Quiet and comfortable night in a lovely home. Highly recommend!

  • This is a really spacious room with a jaw-dropping view which has to be the best thing to wake up to. It was also warm and cosy which is important considering much of the week it was around freezing outside. Liz was thoughtful and considerate of my needs. This is lovely if you are looking for somewhere peaceful and quiet, and central to the town.

Tyas Cottage is located in a small hamlet within an idyllic local beauty spot on the site of the first water-powered mill in the Colne Valley, near Slaithwaite and 7 miles from Huddersfield. Tyas Cottage is south facing within the sheltered, wooded valley, Merrydale, and at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac. Tyas Lane is an ancient, cobbled pack-horse route and, apart from the sound of falling water, the property is quiet and rural. Please note that, due to the pandemic we now have a "deep clean" (to government guidance for employers) between bookings and a more flexible cancellation policy. This property is ideal for people wishing to self-isolate.
Our guests seem to particularly enjoy the quiet, secluded, rural location. They often walk up through the woods on the ancient packhorse route that leads to the Rose and Crown with its delicious beer (it is not suitable for the old and infirm).  Also much commented on is our steep, narrow, cobbled access lane. We are happy to ferry guests up and down the hill when there might be snow or ice on the road, but even large ambulances are able to get up and down in normal weather. The cottage is furnished with very special antique furniture, much of it brought over from South Africa. This includes a hand-carved Georgian mahogany 4 poster bed. The gardens contain several sculptural features. The metal pods that hang from a tree next to the millpond are very well used. There is a charging point for electric cars.
Slaithwaite is a vibrant village and definitely "on the up". It is a lovely walk down Merrydale to Slaithwaite (about 25 minutes). The seat of the industrial revolution, the topography of this district is very varied with its tight little valleys in between vast heather-clad moorland. There are loads of varied and interesting walks in the area. Tunnel End could be a destination if one were to walk along the canal from Slaithwaite to Marsden. The Pennine Way is quite near to Tyas Cottage.
  • Tyas cottage is a lovely stay for those who like to walk due to its settings ... Down quite a steep country lane past sign saying road is not passable to vehicles, don't be put off and continue down the lane...

  • Haven of tranquility just 5-10 minutes off the M62

  • We had a wonderful two night stay at Tyas Cottage to visit a friend in Slaithwaite. The cottage is comfortable and full of character. We had a lovely meal at Devour in Holmfirth - highly recommended. I’m sure we’ll be back.

  • The most stunning location and such a beautiful cottage, located a little off the beaten track - which was what we wanted. A little treacherous in wet weather but no complaints from us. Victoria was next door to hand if there was a problem, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place.

    Maria2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Tyas cottage was really great. The interior is well thought of and has a uique style that we really enjoyed. The house is very well equipped ans the rooms are big and nice.if you like it a little bit rural and quiet this cottage is perfect for you.

  • Tyas Cottage is beautiful, restful, comfortable and the flowers from the garden a lovely touch. The garden itself is stunning, we wished we could just spend a day there.

  • A stunning location and a well-furnished property. The hosts were very pleasant and welcoming and the house is immaculate. There are lots of local walks or you can just relax in the lovely garden. The beds are very comfortable too!

  • What can be said other 5 STARS. We absolutely loved our stay at Tyas Cottage. It was everything we could have wished for and more. Victoria (the host) answered many questions prior to our visit and even spoke to me before we planned our trip to the UK from Texas. I was a little worried than the 9-seater van we had hired would not fit down the lane since I had read in the description that the lane was narrow and steep. There was nothing to worry about at all and our 9-seater Hyundai van easily navigated down the road to the cottage. Victoria was not only great in terms of communication prior to the visit but also met us when we arrived and gave us a great overview of the area and everything we needed to know about the cottage. With a 2 week stay we really wanted to know that we had chosen the right place for the vacation. We were super happy with our choice and it could not have been a better stay. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and in such an idyllic setting. Our 4 children were in heaven exploring the secret garden and tithe surrounding areas. It was so peaceful and yet also so close to all the things you need. A local grocery store within 5-10 minutes drive and with access to the M62 only 10 minutes away we were so well positioned to visit Manchester, Leeds and beyond. Everything we needed on a long trip away from home was there. We missed Tyas Cottage as soon as had to leave. If we could rate more than 5 stars we would. We highly recommend!

Character cottage, dating from the early 1800's with a wealth of original features such as mullion windows, beamed ceilings having views of the Colne Valley and beyond. This grade II listed cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway and/or for walking and cycling (as long as you like hills!). Golcar pronounced "Goker" ("L" is silent in local pronunciation) is a village located on a hillside crest above the Colne Valley in West Yorkshire. It is 3.3 miles away from the Huddersfield town centre.
The Kitchen There is a fully fitted modern kitchen with fridge, washer/Dryer, Dishwasher and Freezer. There is plenty of cutlery, crockery, glassware, utensils etc. There is tea coffee condiments etc. We provide a welcome pack which usually consists of bread, butter, milk , eggs, and cereals. If you are vegan or would prefer something different let us know and we will try to accommodate your preferences. The Lounge There is a spacious lounge with beamed ceiling, stone mullion windows and door surround, pine dining table and chairs, antique ottoman, antique delph (plate) rack, pew in front of the window and corner cabinet. There is a sofa bed and a "smart" TV and speaker/docking station with blue tooth connectivity to stream music. Polished wooden floor, and central heating radiator. The lounge overlooks the south facing paved terraced garden. The Bedroom The bedroom is spacious having a king size bed with quality mattress, pillows and bed linen so that a good nights sleep is assured. The ceiling is beamed and the room has stone mullion windows overlooking the garden There is a monks pew below the window, bed side cabinets and two antique chests of drawers, a corner wardrobe and an additional hanging rail. central heating radiator. The mullioned windows give plenty of light (This is where the weaving would have been done in days gone by) There are views over the garden and valley. The Landing With balustrade, this gives access to the bathroom, very spacious bedroom, and large walk-in storage cupboard which has a vacuum cleaner, iron, ironing board, cleaning materials, spare towels , loo rolls etc. It also provides additional clothes hanging space if required. Beamed ceiling and stone mullioned window. The spacious bathroom with fully tiled floor and walls, having a large corner bath for a luxurious soak, separate shower, heated towel rail washbasin and WC . We provide loo rolls, towels, shampoo etc. Beamed ceiling. The garden This is a south facing sun trap with long distance views and giving a high degree of privacy. It is paved and on four separate levels. We keep it planted up with lots of containers.. There are two separate seating areas with tables and chairs and we have two large parasols for shade when needed. Chill out with a glass of wine. I've seen wild deer on the path that runs down the side of the house and garden. Parking There is free but limited parking on Clay Well and sometimes it can be difficult to find a spot. To help guests I can sometimes leave a car parked opposite the cottage which I move on their arrival. We live approximately 150 yards from the cottage down a steep hill and can also make a parking place available for you there if need be. There is additional parking on the road at the end- Carr Top Lane. There is a free car park in the village centre which is not far from the cottage but up a steep hill. Many of the roads in Golcar are quite narrow so it's best to fold in your wing mirrors. The owners of the large building to the right of the cottage - "Millbarn" have asked that we do not park on their side of the road right outside Millbarn as it can cause an obstruction. I've always tried to respect that so ask guests to as well although it should be OK for unloading/loading luggage.
The Colne Valley is a steep sided valley on the east flank of the Pennine Hills in the English county of West Yorkshire. It takes its name from the River Colne which rises above the town of Marsden and flows eastward along the floor of the valley. The name is generally used to describe that section of the valley of the River Colne that lies between its source and the town of Huddersfield, which lies at the point where the River Holme joins the River Colne. Less often, the name is used to describe the whole valley of the Colne, including the section through Huddersfield and on to the confluence of the Colne with the River Calder at Cooper Bridge. Using the more common definition, the Colne Valley includes the towns and villages of Marsden, Slaithwaite, Linthwaite, Milnsbridge and Golcar. Slaithwaite is a 2 mile walk or short drive along the valley where there are some interesting shops, bars and restaurants. The Colne Valley played a significant role in the development of the Industrial Revolution. Most of the population had been weavers for generations, so when water-powered textile mills were built on the many streams and small rivers in the area, the area was well set to become a major producer of textiles. The River Colne and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal provided early transport links which were soon added to by road and railway links to Huddersfield and Leeds to the east and Manchester and Liverpool to the west. By the end of the Second World War, the importance of the Colne Valley as a centre of textile production had begun to decrease. The area is now primarily residential and has excellent transport links. The Huddersfield Narrow Canal was reopened in 2001 and boat trips into Standedge Canal Tunnel are available; the National Trust advertises walks on Marsden Moor Estate; and television programmes such as Last of the Summer Wine and Where the Heart Is have been filmed there.
  • The cottage is just lovely; warm, comfortable, well-equipped, clean and in a great place to explore Huddersfield and the surrounding countryside. The hosts could not have been more accommodating and helpful. There are useful amenities close at hand - a butcher's shop, supermarket and Take Away restaurant just up the road and a choice of pubs. We would certainly recommend Clay Well Cottage and hope to return, ourselves.

  • Incredible stay! A lot of lovely thoughtful touches -including vegan milk and butter and bread and fruit. Robert met me and showed me everything in the cottage. There was everything I could have needed including local walks and menus. Bath is incredible and the whole place is wonderfully cosy. Can't recommend it enough! Thank you!

  • We stayed here for 3 nights, the whole experience was definitely much more than we expected! It is a very unique upside down cottage with a lot of history, very warm, cosy and welcoming. The bath is luxurious and the bed is comfortable. Robert is a great host, he greeted us on arrival and showed us around, and even provided us with vegan milk, butter, bread and fresh fruit for our stay. The electric fireplace is great and really warms up the living room, and Netflix is also provided on the smart TV. We would love to stay here again, we hope to come in the summer and make use of the garden! Thank you for having us. Kasia and Lewis

The Nave flat is part of Westwood Christian Centre, a 19th century church converted into flats. Spacious and high-ceilinged, the Nave flat can accommodate up to 5 people. You will love Westwood because of the views, the space, the peacefulness. It's good for couples, solo adventurers, or people needing to get away from it all.
Lobby entry to dining/living area, with "bed recess" and bed settee. King size or twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a second bathroom with a shower. Five beautiful clear glazed arched windows; lovely views to South East and North West. • Amy's place was perfect for our needs. We attended a wedding near by and found that the four of us could get ready in the house with ease. The location meant we were only minutes away from the M62 and the venue in Lindley. The kitchen was very well equiped with pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery. The beds were comfy and rooms were clean. The instructions for the house were clear and Amy has been great with communicating details.

  • Very conveniently located for visiting family in Rastrick. It was a cold rainy couple of days and the house was beautifully warm and cosy. Lots of nice touches, including slippers to wear and Netflix on voice command. The Tesco Express opposite was extremely convenient, with a Greggs next to it and a restaurant next door to the house. We appreciated the garden, despite the weather. Communication was great and Amy made it easy for us to get in without any hassle. Thanks for letting us stay!

A lovely quiet self contained large cottage with superb views across the countryside. A comfortable stone built cottage with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, spacious lounge/diner, fully equipped kitchen and a private driveway. We are in a quiet rural area, quite literally in the middle of a field, and sometimes surrounded by sheep! Lots of great walks, things to do, and close enough to York, Manchester, Leeds, Harrogate. Dog friendly. Wheelchair access.
The Gatehouse Cottage is a lovely cosy place in the countryside. We are near to shops, roads and iconic sightseeing areas. But our little cottage has been kitted out to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Wi-fi, TV, games, jigsaws are included. There is a large kitchen which is genuinely well equipped, so that if you want to do your own cooking you should have almost everything you need. Dishwasher, toaster, kettle, microwave as well as a range of pans and pots, crockery and cutlery. There is a downstairs bedroom with en-suite wetroom. The utility area has a free to use washing machine, and small tumble dryer. up a steep narrow staircase is a second bedroom, with their own bathroom on the opposite landing. We originally fitted out the Cottage for my parents, and who needed wheelchair access. So the threshold to the Cottage is only 0.5inch. Most of the doors are wide to accommodate a wheelchair user. The downstairs bedroom is easy to get around, with a sliding door into the wetroom, which is wheelchair accessible, and has a shower with a fold down seat, and also has grab rails in appropriate places. Outside the kitchen is a small area under the stairs, which can be used to store/recharge a wheelchair/mobility scooter. Access to a patio with views across the valley. Electric BBQ.
We are 15 minutes from the centre of Halifax. The renovated Piece Hall and Square Chapel are well worth a visit. We have local shops and several restaurants and take-always in West Vale (in fact West Vale has become so trendy, the locals call it West Vegas!). From Thai, Indian, Fish & Chips, Bistro, Craft Beer, Tapas and Street Food and all on offer. Or try eating at The Moorcock off Norland for some mouthwatering famed local food! York and Harrogate are about 55 minutes away, Leeds 20 minutes and Manchester 35 minutes. You have great access to the Yorkshire Moors, and nearby Ilkley Moor. If you are a shopper, then Manchester, Leeds, Old Trafford and a couple of outlet centres should create ample shopping opportunities! Closeby is Holmfirth (Last of the Summer Wine), Emmerdale studios, and if you are a Last Tango in Halifax or Happy Valley fan - many of the sets were shot around here. Old Trafford Football Stadium, and the RHS Harlow Carr Gardens are good to visit as well. To be honest, there really is such a lot to see and do!
  • Well equipped, clean , spacious, very welcoming and helpful host with lots of thoughtful "touches".... good location for exploring, walks etc etc Recommend highly

  • Sarah’s place is gorgeous. Beautifully decorated and lovely ambience. Very chilled and peaceful. The room is fab and cozy with a great en-suite, a lovely little boudoir. It’s super clean and the little touches were lovely. Kettle and pot of chocolates in the room. Sarah is a lovely host and nice to chat with. You really have your own space too with the room. • What a lovely stay I had. Sarah's incredibly friendly and welcoming. I slept better on that lovely bed than I do at home! Great surroundings, fabulously friendly - I only wish I could have stayed for longer, but hope to go back to try the lovely walk along by the waterway in the valley. Can recommend without hesitation.

  • Sarah was a very welcoming host and we particularly enjoyed being able to walk by the canal into Hebden Bridge. We would recommend this property.

A beautifully restored and furnished luxury cottage for two in the funky town of Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire. Superking sized bed, roll top bath and lots of exposed York stone make this a cosy, romantic retreat.
The cottage is set over three floors and features a cosy sitting room with cast iron gas stove, a small but well equipped kitchen, utility with additional shower and a first floor offering a luxury bathroom and bedroom with solid oak flooring and original features.
Hebden Bridge is pretty unique and is a great place to visit. It offers the best of both worlds; the surrounding countryside offers miles of beautiful walks and is a great base for mountain biking and road cycling. The town is always buzzing, offering plenty of cafes, restaurants, pubs, independent shops and the famous Trades Club for live music.
  • Gorgeous little space, good communication and awesome amenities. The location was fantastic and we enjoyed exploring the local area before relaxing in front of the fire with our very tired dog! Would recommend this place!

  • Beautifully designed space, perfect for a stay for 2 to explore the local area and lovely town of Hebden. Fantastic view from the bath and kitchen! Very clean and stylish, great shower.

  • Fabulous cosy cottage in an excellent location for the centre of Hebden Bridge. Lovely comfortable bed and gorgeous bath. Easy and helpful communication with Jonathan and lots of thoughtful extras like bathrobes. Loved it!

  • A really lovely cottage, interesting and stylish. The downstairs utility room is really useful in bad weather for drying clothes. Good views from the windows. A convenient location for popping in and out of the centre but also easy to walk into the hills, there's a good path just on the other side of the road that goes up through a wood.

    Jennie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place just a few minutes walk from the town centre. Beautiful space and perfect for our weekend break with the dog. Will be back.

  • A beautiful, clean and well-appointed cottage retreat, right in the heart of Hebden Bridge. It's a really comfortable base from which to explore the wilds of West Yorkshire, including Hardcastle Crags (only 20 mins walk away). Jonathan was a really attentive host, and the helpful welcome pack was a lovely touch. There are a number of steep stoney stairs in the property, so it's not an ideal choice if you have mobility problems, but we loved it and we can't wait to visit again!

    Leanne2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Jonathans place. Its the perfect location. I wouldn't look for anywhere else to stay in Hebden. It has all we need. Thanks again.

There is outside space front and back with seating at the front and tables and chairs at the back. Theres free on street parking. The bedroom faces South westerly and has a double bed with orthopaedic mattress. There is a spacious wardrobe and large chest of drawers and generous shelves. Sowerby Bridge is a small Pennine Town with an industrial past. Situated in Calderdale, on the river Calder, Sowerby Bridge is quieter and less touristy than nearby Hebden Bridge but also has an interesting canal basin and lovely nearby countryside. The town is within easy access of all that Calderdale has to offer. The town boasts several good cafes, pubs and restaurants and is well connected by rail and bus. The nearby countryside offers plentiful walks and there are many excellent country pubs. The house is in an elevated position above the town in a safe neighbourhood and is close to bus stops for nearby Halifax, Hebden Bridge and Ripponden. Bronte country is within reach by car or public transport and it is also possible to reach Leeds and Manchester by train There is an annual rushbearing festival in the town which is well worth experiencing Some popular places to eat and drink in the area include The newly opened and highly recommended Moorcock Inn, Norland, see the review by Jay Rayner in the Guardian Up the road in Warley village is the fantastic Maypole inn, great views from the garden, large portions and great value, this is walkable for the fit on a nice evening ( uphill to get there - 30 min walk). Also in Warley is the Winterburn Pub which has amazing views over the area Gimbals restaurant down the road in Sowerby Bridge, fine dining in a lovely setting. The Village Indian restaurant is probably the nearest eatery , excellent Indian food and they also do takeaways. Another recommended Indian restaurant is Syhiba, also on Wharf st. The Hobbit in Norland - has a Sunday Carvery and views over Sowerby Bridge. Best value and biggest menu choices locally is the Sportsmans inn, Barkisland - also does an excellent Sunday Carvery The Moorings pub in Sowerby Bridge is in an old water mill by the canal which serves food. There's a lovely cafe down the road from us on Wharf St called Moonbean, selling breakfast, lunch, sandwiches, cakes, nachos and with gluten free, veggie and vegan options ( though not a veggie only place). The cafe is licensed and has a large selection of gins amongst other alcoholic drinks. They also do smoothies. The Larder delicatessen on Wharf street also has a cafe attached. Gabriel's cafe, near to the bottom of Gratrix lane ( so probably our nearest) serves coffee and cakes and sandwiches with indoor and outdoor seating. The nearest pub/bar to the house is the Peacock at the top of Bairstow Lane on Burnley Rd. Other good pubs in the town of Sowerby Bridge are - The Hogshead ( real ale brewed on the premises) ; Hollins Mill ( large selection of real ales) ; The Firehouse ( also serves food), The Blind Pig for live music and late opening. The town is also fortunate to have a good Wetherspoons Pub, The Commercial- serving food and drink all day ( including breakfast) . There's a Lidl and a Tesco in Sowerby Bridge- there's other large stores and supermarkets including Sainsburys in Halifax. Halifax is within very easy reach by car or public transport and the newly renovated Piece Hall and nearby Square Chapel are particularly worth visiting.
  • This is a great little house . It felt really welcoming as soon as we went through the front door . Everything you need is there and I cant think of a single thing that could’ve improved our stay . I used the car a lot during our stay but I never had a problem parking right outside the house . Thank you Cath 😀
