  • We had a great time at Naomi's cabin very clean and tidy and Naomi was lovely to deal with

    Samantha2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Naomi was very quick to response even very late. (we needed one night stay while on the way). Cabin exceeded our expectations. It is very nice, clean and private. In quite neighborhood of beautiful Central Coast. We would have stayed for a week if we would have more time.

    Miroslav2015-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was beautifully presented and surprisingly spacious with the backyard area. Naomi was very helpful and welcoming, and Umina Beach was terrific. I will recommend this lovely little place to others looking for a quiet getaway.

  • The Aloha Cabin was a lovely place to stay. Very clean & tidy. Fresh linen provided. Close to shops. Quiet neighbourhood. The main thing to note if you have a young family is that there is no bath & there is no laundry tub & the bathroom and kitchen sinks are both really small, so you would need to either bring a portable bath or wash your children in the shower instead. Overall, we had a lovely stay at the Aloha Cabin.

    Elizabeth2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fabulous time in Naomi's gorgeous cabin. It is really clean, modern and has a well-stocked kitchen. My kids loved the board games and selection of DVDs as well as the enclosed yard. Naomi was a great host who went beyond to make our stay great. We'll be back!

    Veronika2015-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at this cabin in Umina. So comfy and warm - we stayed during a cold snap!! Bright, modern, private, washing machine (tx goodness with 3 kids!!), kitchen with everything you could need, lovely deck looking on to good size yard, close to beach. We can't wait to stay there again. Thanks!!

    Michelle2015-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was fantastic. We were a family of 4 and spent 3 weeks there. Umina Beach is a great beach for kids and the cabin had everything we needed. Very clean, modern and well equipped. Naomi was very kind and even helped sort out an issue for us on Christmas day. Communication was very easy. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This original timber and sandstone fisherman's cottage on the water’s edge of Pittwater's stunning Mackerel Beach has been lovingly restored into a beautiful, secluded beach and bush hideaway and couple's retreat. * Gift vouchers for a romantic weekend away available now * * 10% discount offered to returning guests! *
Perfectly positioned, the Little Black Shack’s north east aspect lets you wake to the sunrise over Palm Beach headland and enjoy the sun all day long. The sea breeze keeps the shack cool during summer whilst the tree-lined ridge of Ku-ring-gai National Park behind, shelters it from the cold southerly winds during winter. With its rustic, hand built sandstone open fireplace, comfy leather chairs, soft cowhide rugs and full-length window box seat, The Little Black Shack is also a cosy winter cabin. There are two bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Just metres from the water, every room features windows and French or barn doors opening out to uninterrupted views of Mackerel Beach, Pittwater, Barrenjoey Headland, Palm Beach and beyond. The interior features recycled and hand made furniture with an eclectic mix of nautical antiques and collectables gathered from travels around the world and forages along the beach. The lounge, dining and gourmet chef’s kitchen are open plan. The lounge features a hand built sandstone fireplace and a floor to ceiling bookcase with an extensive library. A large flat screen TV, Blue-ray DVD and the latest Bose surround sound Wi-Fi stereo are hidden behind the doors of a rustic handmade cupboard with Bose speakers in the outdoor areas and Bose Wi-Fi systems in each bedroom. The window seat spanning the full length of the front of the lounge room, is the perfect spot to relax with a good book, chill out with your own playlist, take a nap or gaze out of any one of the 6 windows overlooking the stunning beaches and bay. The kitchen features concrete bench tops, wooden cupboards made from the original floorboards, a large farmhouse sink, commercial grade cookware, microwave, Ilve gas stove and electric oven, perfect for creating your favourite meals. Two French doors open from the kitchen/dining area onto a small covered balcony and bar area overlooking the water. Once you are here you will never want to leave - which is why the gourmet chef’s kitchen comes equipped with everything you need and a fully stocked pantry. You can also help yourself to the fresh herbs in the kitchen garden. The original sandstone bathroom features a beautiful stone bath and a large copper shower with amazing water views. The main bedroom has a generous king bed and access to a private lawn and garden. The rustic hand made bed has loads of comfy down pillows and is elevated to take full advantage of the water views! The second bedroom is reached by a short set of sandstone steps in front of the house. This cosy room features a super comfortable hand made queen bed. The room is built from the original sandstone, lined with timber and has a soft cowhide rug on the floor. It also enjoys stunning panoramic water views through the window and barn door. It has its own private stone terrace overlooking the water and a grassed area shaded by a large Frangipani tree, with a hammock to relax in ... Both rooms are beautifully furnished with cowhide rugs, antique cupboards and chests of drawers and the bedding is 100% linen. There is a large north facing sun deck at the front of the shack and a covered terrace and outdoor hand-built sandstone kitchen. Featuring a wood fired oven and charcoal BBQ/fireplace this space is perfect for all day alfresco living, dining, cooking and entertaining. There is an outdoor shower set amongst the trees half way down the front steps leading to a secluded sandy beach at low tide. Here you can rinse off after swimming or shower under the stars on warm summer evenings. The cottage is surrounded by native coastal gardens and terraced grass level areas overlooking the water and shaded by huge Frangipani trees. The Little Black Shack is completely eco friendly. Windows, barn doors and French doors allow the sea breeze to circulate and cool the house in summer while the open sandstone fireplace warms the house during winter using firewood collected from fallen trees off the property. Rainwater is harvested for bathing and washing which is recycled to irrigate the main garden. The grounds also feature a small kitchen garden to provide you with fresh herbs. When it comes to the interiors, if we couldn’t find it second hand, we made it by hand, from recycled, repurposed and found materials. Candles and oil lanterns are provided for alternative lighting.
Whilst we’re only a mile from the mainland and Palm Beach, we might as well be a million miles away … Getting here is part of the experience. Once you board ‘Myra’ the old timber ferry at Palm Beach you leave the city and your worries behind. The Little Black Shack is reached via a short walking track at the end of the beach or via the rocks along the beach at low tide. Once you are here, close the gates, breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the view, the peace and the quiet. Relax and unwind on Mackerel's beautiful main sandy beach or enjoy swimming or snorkelling right out the front on a secluded section of the beach, fishing off the rocks below, kayaking or boating in the crystal clear protected waters of Pittwater. The surrounding National Park offers some incredible bush walks to secluded beaches, The Basin Lagoon, ancient Aboriginal carving sites and incredible lookouts. Take a leisurely stroll along Mackerel Beach or through the valley behind it where you will find friendly locals (including wallabies and bush turkeys) and some original fibro beach cottages. You can also hire your own 'tinny' from Palm Beach to explore Pittwater’s many coves and bays by water. If you feel like heading back to the mainland, the old timber ferry ‘Myra’ leaves on the hour and is just a 10-minute ride to Palm Beach wharf. From here you can make the trek up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse, walk to Palm Beach, dine at the local restaurants, bars and cafes or browse the shops, galleries and Palm Beach markets (on set days). You can also head into Avalon village, just 5 minutes down the road by car. Here you can explore the many shops, restaurants and bars, visit the surf beach or take in a movie.
  • I've stayed in a lot of airbnb places but this one is special. It is instantly apparent that The Little Black Shack isn't some airbnb money spinner for Jamie and Ingrid; rather it is their love and they are generously sharing it. The shack is decked out in detail as only a home could be. The kitchen is well stocked; the towels and linen are great quality; and every effort has been made for you to be able to use the Shack to its full potential. My friend and I absolutely loved our stay.

    Justin2017-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ingrid and Jamie were wonderful hosts. The little black shack is really special little place. We loved waking up staring across at Barranjoey Point. We kayaked, swam, walked along the beach a perfect little break so close to Sydney. Would definitely recommend, and we will be back.

    Duncan2016-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Black Shack was a wonderful experience and we truly enjoyed it despite it being winter and having heavy rain for a whole day. The locations fantastic with views to die for. Ingrid and Jamie did a terrific renovation, all the spaces are well thought and beautifully decorated. Highly recommended for couples, friends and families. We are looking forward to coming back

    irene2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Totally unique place in an absolutely stunning setting. The shack is in a prime position, comfortable and very stylish . Great pizza oven. Fantastic sound system was icing on the cake! Swimming in clear water off the rocks below the house, and exploring Pittwater on foot and by kayack was amazing. Ingrid and Jamie were easily contactable and helpful. We (four) found it very hard to leave.

    Susan2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is something quite magical - a little piece of paradise within easy reach of Sydney. The communication was excellent and the house is really something you have to see to believe. Its stocked with all the pantry basics and an amazing kitchen with all the little details that make a place extra special - linen sheets, Aesop products in the bathroom, fluffy towels. It's right on the beach with panoramic ocean views and hugged behind by the bush so it feels like a real hideaway. Can't wait to return!

    Joan2017-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Black Shack is an amazing spot and such a unique property, great for a coupes getaway if you want to switch off and relax. You'll forget you're only an hour away from Sydney.

    Stuart2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing experience at the little black shack. We couldn't have wished for more. Idyllic location, beautiful house which was perfectly equipped. Very much looking forward to a return visit.

    Tom2015-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Another fabulous stay in unique, barefoot luxury. Every detail is beautiful and considered - from the recycled furnishings to the gorgeous linens to the beautiful kitchen to the sandstone bathroom with aesop products, to the lovely timber and stone terraces dropping down to the sea, and the views out to the lighthouse. Great array of books also! Thanks Ingrid and Jamie, wonderful hosts!

  • Olivia's apartment was just as described; the views were beautiful, and the apartment had everything we needed. The kitchen was particularly well equipped, which was really handy to be able to make snacks and simple meals. Olivia was kindly very flexible with check in and check out times, which enabled us to make the most of our trip, and her Dad was very helpful in getting us settled. It is a beautiful, peaceful place. Would highly recommend staying here!

    Jordan2015-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is lovely and has all the things we needed. Olivia was very responsive to our emails. Her father showed us around and was very welcoming. It's a perfect and tranquil place for a quiet get-away, with a beautiful view. . It is located in a very scenic area. Just a few minutes from the bus stop and a few more minutes walk to the water, where you can take a lovely walk and visit the pelicans. Highly recommended.

    Hien2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Olivia's place just for one night on the way back from The Entrance. It was a good idea to stop there. The sunrise was beautiful. I wouldn't be able to say much about the area as we left early. The only minor cons that we had was the parking. The driveway is quite steep and I found it a bit challenging to park. Altogether the stay was good and I would recommend this place to others. Thanks Olivia!

    Jakub2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, cozy and scenic apartment. Everything that you need for lovely weekend in the coast. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

    Julia2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a lovely find - stunning views (just like the pictures), spacious, lots of light, great kitchen for self-catering, and easy enough to get to via public transport. Olivia was friendly and flexible and communicated clearly and her Dad who greeted me was also lovely. Only downside was that the space wasn't as clean as I would have expected.

  • What a wonderful place. A stunning location and a beautifully designed space. Peter was very personable and easy to deal with. Overall, a great experience.

    Keith2016-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Peter's home surpassed our expectations in every way. Stunning views offering an everchanging artwork of birdlife, cloud formations and nature at its best. The house was stocked with every imaginable need, with caring neighbours. Whisper quiet, soul food.

    Sharon2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical place. It's as pictured. Presented beautifully, tastefully furnished and simply a pleasure to be in. Sitting on the deck taking in the sublime view with a glass of wine at the end of the day, then preparing a meal in the BBQ and kitchen to eat on the deck was the icing on the cake. Peter was an attentive host and access to the property was easy. Even though he couldn't be there to meet us in person his neighbour David called in to ensure everything was ok. Two resident ducks kept us well entertained as did the visiting kookaburras. I would have no hesitation in giving the experience the highest recommendation. Thank you Peter!

  • We had a fantastic long weekend at Peter's house. The house is just great, very functional and lots of space. We had all meals out on the deck, admiring the view and being entertained by the local wildlife (ducks & other birds). Peter is a very thoughtful host, he took care that we had everything we needed. You cannot fault the location, the bay is just gorgeous, so peaceful and beautiful, feels like you're million miles away. Big bonus was that we could bring our dog, she loved swimming off the wharf. Would definitely book again.

Great kids playground located at the beach and tennis courts close to caravan park. The famous Patonga pub is just next door and the jetty to Palm beach is also very close
  • This is an amazing house in a beautiful location. There was plenty of space for a few families with kids and the children loved using the games and tv in the loft which gave us adults time to hang out on the massive terrace and watch the beautiful view. Well equipped kitchen, laundry and living spaces. Be aware of the steep driveway and limited parking for two cars at house level - we did a lot of climbing up and down stairs to the bottom street but at least we felt no guilt about eating our way through the weekend! We visited Pearl Beach and Umina Beach frequently - both about 15 mins away - for the waves, and the younger families loved sandcastles on the beach in Patonga. The pub was great for lunch - seafood platter is amazing. Galina is so speedy with communications and super helpful. I just wanted to mention that my husband left his wedding ring at the house and it hasn't turned up yet, so if you are a future guest reading this and happen to find it please let Galina know thanks! Highly recommended property!

    Ilona2016-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • My first impression was that the house looked very stylish, comfortable and spacious with great views from all 5 bedrooms. The deck was fantastic and was where we spent most of our time drinking, talking and looking at the gorgeous views. Beach and pub (great meals) where just a short stroll and the creek was just around the corner. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed. My wife is a bit of a clean freak and was more than happy of how clean and immaculate everything was, as well as how lovely the design of the house was presented with a bit of rustic charm, modern furniture and beach decor. Galina was very welcoming and responded in a timely manner to questions thrown at her. One of the best houses I have stayed in and more than happy to recommend it.

    Mark2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Arrival was easy, the place was fantastic with everything you could need, the view is spectacular. Will definitely consider rebooking for our next getaway.

    Alice2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful property with plenty of beds, great living space and a fabulous kitchen. If I could ask for anything it would be either a warning to bring eye masks for sleeping in... or curtains. Highly recommended - we'd love to see it in summer. Great for sharing - we are two families and there was ample room. Very well appointed kitchen too - little things you forget to bring, but never expect of a holiday stay.

    Karina2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hampton Beach House. The house was as lovely as the photos and was very spacious allowing plenty of space for the four couples and their children to enjoy and relax. The house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked for entertaining and the view from the deck was amazing! We would definitely recommend this place to friends and would love to visit again.

  • This house is absolutely incredible - tastefully decorated with superb improvements. The driveway is very steep (4WD access only), with the only other access being 80+ stairs from the street.....but if you can work around these limitations you are sure to have a memorable stay! The beds are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms are well appointed. The kitchen....what can I say....I want it! The deck would be perfect for warmer weather (we had some rain and cooler weather). The views are just lovely and Patonga itself is an idyllic fishing village. The Patonga Pub is a MUST DO and the fish & chips from the store are amazing! If you are needing to celebrate a special occasion check out Palm Beach River Cruises and their cruise for lunch at Cottage Point Inn. Very special indeed! We did have WiFi issues but the owners are looking to change their provider in the near future. The Foxtel channels are limited but I believe the owners are also looking to introduce an alternative provider for TV content also. If this house if available and you own a 4WD book it immediately! You won't be disappointed!

  • Galina was easy and delightful to communicate with prior to our stay. Her house has an amazing outlook and is so spacious! We especially loved the fire as we had a cool and wet weekend. The entire house was very clean and well equipped with all we needed for a great girl's weekend getaway.

  • I cannot speak highly enough of this retro caravan option for something just annoy different. My two kids loved it. Our hosts were amazing, they took great pride in looking after us- the beer, wine, milk, coffee, tea on arrival was way more than I expected! The fire pit was set, and towed, sheets and toiletries were all gorgeous!! I would defintely recommend this and Bianca as a host x

  • Really do love this place, second trip here but the first unfortunately was in better circumstances. Thought there was keys like last time but there was combination codes. Luckily we were able to guess it as the host only got back to us the next morning. Cleanliness was spot on. Was however really looking forward to using the bikes (as we don't have a car) but unfortunately one was unridable and the other had minor appendages but was okay. Overall worth for the location but was looking forward to an experience like last time.

  • I have to say this was probably the most unique and memorable stay and experience we've had through air BnB. It way exceeded our expectations. The little touches that Banks has made really makes it feel special. You can tell its all done with love. We really enjoyed exploring the surrounding beaches but ultimately we just wanted to hang around the caravan and the outdoor area. We also got a visit from a cute possum :)) Banks was always super fast to reply. I will be highly recommending a stay here to my friends and family who enjoy a little something special. We really hope to return soon. Thanks for having us ! Xx

  • We loved our stay in the caravan, it was the perfect get out of the city stay for us. Sitting around the fire felt like camping and was very relaxing. Three adults and a dog comfortably fit into the caravan.

  • This was exactly what we were looking for!Banks and Jon went out of their way to accommodate us, they even offered to drive us to the Oyster festival and train station. What a lovely spot for a vacation. The kids had an absolute blast. Will definitely return sometime in the near future.

  • Such a cute little space that was the perfect little getaway. We enjoyed the location and how close it was to Pearl Beach and Patonga and the beautiful surrounding National parks. The van was super cosy and the bath was a beautiful touch! We would love to come and stay again.

  • We had a nice relaxing stay in the caravan and enjoyed having the bikes to get ourselves all around Umina. There is plenty to keep you busy in Umina with great beaches, shops and restaurants. We found the bed comfortable and the caravan had ample space to move around in. I'd recommend this to anyone for a great little get away.

Our place is just half a block to Umina beach and the fabulous recreation area with one of the best parks in NSW. We are a five minute stroll to the main street where you will find everything you need as far as shops and restaurants. Feel free to enjoy the ample outdoor space we have to offer - from the deck to the pool.
The area and our cabana are great for families with kids. If you have more than 2 children we are happy to accommodate extra little people, just send me a message to discuss.
  • The cabana was very spacious and had everything we needed, including a small kitchenette with one hot plate, a microwave and a small bar fridge. The location is extremely family-friendly with a nice cafe, a big park and play equipment, a beach with good surf and the dog-friendly part of the beach on the right hand side as you walk towards the water. Everything you need is right at your doorstep, as the main road is close by as well. Highly recommended the Umina Beach Markets on the 3rd Sunday of each month, with nice food and featuring local buskers! We had such a great time, thank you so much Amelia and Shane!

    Clarice2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Maybe the description explains this, but I did not understand that it's a small house in the back yard of the owner's house. It wasn't as private as I thought it would be. That said, the house is quite nice and we did enjoy our stay. Amelia and her family were welcoming hosts.

    Nathan & Alyona2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great proximity to the beach and shops. Basic and comfortable accommodation. The family were all very friendly and helpful.

    Heidi2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to bring your friends to for a short get a way! Amelia's family were so welcoming and friendly it got hard to say goodbye! Best part of the place that it's literally a minute away from the beach! Would definitely recommend!

  • Great location and friendly hosts.

  • The Cabana in Umina is a super comfy and beautifully styled little cabin with a queen bed in one room and bunks in the second smaller room. There are TVs in the lounge and main bedroom and the bathroom is beautiful. There is a little kitchen with one induction cooking hot plate and microwave and small bar fridge. The blue tones and lovely linen in bedrooms were a nice touch. Our dogs loved the place and the secure yard. The accommodation is a work in progress but we loved it. The location is fabulous - quiet, a hop skip and a jump to the beach with one end being a dog friendly beach. It's opposite a park filled with kids swings, climbing structures and a great little cafe called Jasmine Green Park Kiosk where we had breakfast with our dogs. There is a Thai restaurant around the corner and it's a short stroll to the centre of town. We adored the place and we'll definitely be back.

    Siobhan2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Loved the playground and cafe nearby, and the local Thai restaurant was fantastic!

    Bridie2018-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I are already trying to find another date to return, and we have only just arrived home. The accommodation is a self contained very comfortable and tastefully furnished 2 bedroom granny flat, at the rear of their family home, it is fully fenced, and was perfect for our dog and family. Amelia and Shane let us use their pool and the back garden, and are incredibly hospitable, always offering an extra towel, or anything we may need. The bathroom in the flat is awesome! New and very clean. Amelia and Shane have the most gorgeous little boy, whom our kids loved playing with. The house is literally meters from Umina beach, and you can easily walk into the town centre for lunch and dinner. Lovely house, lovely family. Can't wait to return.

  • Wonderful home. Wonderful host. We were a mixed group of friends who were seeking a relaxing weekend out of the city and we all had a superb time. Could not recommend more highly.

    Piers2015-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona was fantastic to deal with, very responsive, great arrival instructions, she was very flexible with check in and out times. The house is in a stunning location with a gorgeous view, directly on the water, short walk to the Inn and Kiosk, we couldn't have asked for better. Fishing was made easy and the balcony was used a lot, worked very well for a cooler weather getaway. The drive way is pretty steep and exiting up the hill can be tricky, caution of spinning wheels. We enjoyed the inclinator especially with kids, it did get jammed due to brush turkeys passing twigs over the cables. Fiona was quick to respond and one of her neighbours helped fix within the hour. The dingy's engine was not functional and therefore we were not able to use it during our stay which was disappointing. There were a few cleanliness disappointments such as very dusty rooms and some rubbish/clutter left behind in the rooms particularly, cupboards. This is the lowest standard we've experienced for cleanliness with holiday rentals especially when a $200 cleaning fee was charged. Our overall experience was pleasant. We're delighted to have discovered Cottage Point as a getaway destination.

  • Would recommend in an instant. The house has big views of the river and a balcony with bbq. Very clean and thoughtfully arranged, easy with kids (we had 3!) Jenny knows everything about the Hawkesbury and helped us arrange water transport to and from the point which I would recommend instead of looking up water taxis etc. Pack bait - the fishing is g (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) d!!!

The house has proved to be a great success for extended families, for families who wish to entertain their overseas guests or relatives or just for a great family holiday to spend some quality time with family or friends. There is something to do for all ages. Fishing, kayaking, boating, walks or just take in the wildlife, serenity. water views and clean air (no cars on Barpoint)
I am not offering accommodation…I am offering a lifestyle/ holiday resort that only the very rich can afford but who don’t have the time to enjoy it. For the advertised price you get. A four bedroom house with linen supplied 2 Kayaks Over 100 DVD’s Internet A 6 burner gas BBQ An enclosed back yard for your pets Fully equipped kitchen NEW: Buggie and cart to assist bringing your stuff from boat to house too many things to mention For an additional AUD 200 cash a 5.0 m pontoon boat with a 30 HP Motor for up to 3 days or AUD 300 for more than 3 days Assuming you are lucky enough to know some millionaire, who will give you their holiday house FREE for a weekend, You will still be more out of pocket if you had to hire the kayaks, wash the linen farm out the dogs to kennels, pay for fire wood and leave a small gift to say “thank you” and live with the debt that you may feel you owe them… Don’t bother.. You don’t need them anymore. You have it all at my house...and to annoy them, just invite them for a BBQ.. You can even offer to pick them up on my boat..!! And if you are generous enough let them stay overnight telling them they don’t have to wash the linen when they leave. Unfortunately, it still cost quite a bit to stay here (and will stay so until my bank manager lets me off my mortgage repayments…don’t hold your breath), however if you take the cost of heating your house, going to restaurants, kennelling the dogs etc from the cost and divide the remainder (if any) between 2 full families, 4 couples or 8 friends you will realise just what good value you are getting. No cars on the "island", no traffic no smog just pure air and great views.. The front yard is the river where you can fish ski kayak ... The immediate back yard is enclosed and comes with an outdoor shower, BBQ and a Huge fire pit. On the other side of the backyard is the Popran National park where you can hike, walk down the only road (or path) Kalinda road, get some free fire wood or just take in the nature. If the bush is a bit rough for you then walk on the grassed reserve in front of the house which is more of an extended garden than a reserve. Visit the local Post office and see how post offices were some centuries back (open 24/7) You can even fish from the post office when the postman has gone. Visit the historic Bar island with the church ruins and grave stones (boat access only) or simply explore the waterways with your boat or mine. Now for something different How often have you gone shopping or to restaurant by boat??? Now is your opportunity with numerous shops, restaurants and bars that can be accessed by boat. There is something for all. All you have to do is book early to ensure no disappointments
Bar Point is located in the Popran nature reserve. Many houses are occupied by full time residents. Due to the water, no cars and any commercial activity, the place is extremely quiet and peaceful, so much so that if you are quite you will hear the fish jumping in the water and the tides lapping on the shore from the balcony of the house .Noise seems to carry very easily in this area and hence we ask our guest to keep it low after 10PM.
  • What a great place to relax and wind down, we had a boat and was able to to also enjoy the Hawkesbury River.

    Derek2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house, very unique, spacious and cosy on the waterfront with a big fireplace and stocked with plenty of amenities. Quite a different getaway but David helped us through and checked in regularly to ensure we were going alright and to make sure we felt at home.

    Dean2015-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • I first visited Bar Point to photograph David's home away from home, but I was captured by the areas natural beauty, the romanticism of the river access and the spacious layout of the house. I came back with the family to spend a few days exploring the area and relaxing by the river and it was everything we expected and more. We found friendly locals, hidden history, mysterious serpentine creeks, swimming, walking, climbing and spent our evening cooking banquets and relaxing around the fire pit or on the Balcony overlooking the river. David went to great lengths to ensure we had everything we needed, using his local contacts to keep the house stocked, despite its remoteness. Bar point is a special destination and well worth making the effort to put yourself out away from the madding crowd. David will make sure your experience is the best it can be.

My place is a light filled house close to the Hawksbury river, the garden runs down to the mangroves and water . The small suburb of Mooney Mooney is surrounded by National parks and there is great bush walking, swimming, water sports and boating in the area. There are also local restaurants, cafes and a pub and club. My place is both good for couples and solo adventurers and would be a perfect retreat for writers or other creative people.
My house is long and narrow so is very easily able to accommodate guests who wish to be autonomous or for guests who are happy to socialise and share the different features of the house and garden whilst still having privacy with there sleeping arrangements. If you are interested in having the entire house to yourself without the host you may do so by booking both rooms for 2 people and letting the host know that this is your plan. A second room is also available to people related to the first guest , i.e. if you are wishing to have a break with another couple, friends or family.
This area is half way between Sydney and Newcastle so is quite a convenient stop over whilst travelling or as a holiday destination that doesnt take long to drive to from Sydney . The Mugamurra national park is open to the public during August where you can see extensive rock carvings done by the original inhabitants of this area and also fantastic local rid gland flowers. It is a special treat to take a guided tour through that area and very close to here. I also run clay / pottery classes as an extra experience upon request. fees apply.
  • Jane and her house are lovely. Mooney is a beautiful place and we would definitely stay again.

    Lee2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jane was pleasant hostess who welcomed us into her home, we spent at least an hour chatting away about various topics from travel to snakes. The bed room was large, the bed was comfortable, the shower had good water pressure, there was off street parking every thing you require for an over night stay. The local club was close by and provided good quality food.

  • This is a delightful home on the banks of the Hawkesbury River with beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces to maximise the lush sub-tropical location and the cooling effects of breezes from the water. The living spaces are beautifully presented with a great combination of areas to both mingle with the host or sit in peaceful seclusion. The main bathroom is also a beautiful free space. The bedrooms are comfortable, although the ceiling fans could not quite cope with the extreme weather conditions we happened to strike on our stay. Jane is a very welcoming and informative host, as well as being a highly creative and experienced ceramicist. There are artistic treats on offer throughout the property. Highly recommended.

  • Jane's beautiful home was hands down the best Airbnb I have stayed at. The house itself was stunning, with big open ceilings and lovely doors and windows everwhere which all open up all so you feel like you're out in the middle of a tropical rain forest. It's also filled with Jane's beautiful artwork and pottery which she creates in her amazing workshop downstairs. Jane was friendly, caring, open and honest and I look forward to visiting her again!

Escape to The Last Resort, an attractive single level house with deep water views and a shared pontoon. Boat access only - we provide you with your own little tinny. Marlow is noted for its all year round fishing and is the perfect place to enjoy boating, water sports, bushwalking or to simply escape from it all. Harmonize with nature, enjoy the spectacular sunsets and the tranquility, only occasionally broken by the abundant bird and wildlife. Featured on Channel 7 Great Outdoors in 2001.
Serenity abounds, inspiring poets, writers and artists. Little friends to visit the front verandah (kookaburras, ducks, bush turkeys, Boots the dog). The house is supplied with mountain spring water. Brew delicious tea and coffee, and take relaxing showers after swimming on the private beach. Cook your fishing catch on the gas BBQ under its own balcony. Keep cool with air conditioning in the main room.
Across the river, Spencer Village stores offer provisions and supplies, light meals and for the indulgent, a great cappuccino!
  • A beautiful location to stay in over New Years. Having our own boat was a great touch. Weller was very quick with communication.

    Margarita2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at The Last Resort. Loved the view, the quietness and having a boat to ourselves. We had no phone reception for 4 days which was actually a blessing - complete disconnection and pure enjoyment of the moment. Weller was friendly and communication with him was easy. The neighbours were lovely. The house was comfortable and child-friendly. We didn't want to go back to the city!

    Caroline2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at The Last Resort was great. The house was exactly as advertised, a well loved house right on the Hawksbury River among secluded hamlet of Marlow. The boat-access was challenging at first (Arriving after dark not recommended), but once we were settled into the house the riverfront position was fantastic. We very much enjoyed using the included boat to put up and down the river, for both fishing and trips to the nearby town of Spencer. Reception is limited (including phones, internet and television), however that provided a good excuse to cut ourselves off and enjoy the environment and company instead. All in all, a great location for a quiet weekend away with friends or family. We would definitely be happy to book again.

  • this is an absolutely beautiful, get-away-from-it-all cottage. The boat ride is less than 5 mins, very easy to manage and navigate and the view is breathtakingly beautiful - just you and water. Very lovely, quiet, peaceful. If you love fishing, it is perfect; if you just want to silence, no reception, no devices - this is your place! Weller was perfect - prompt with information, advice and guidance. Beautiful weekend away!

  • This place has stunning views, tranquility to burn and an adventurous access route. Read the manual thoroughly, there is a boat with a small engine you need to run to access...and don’t check in after dark or you may be trying to cruise over with the light of the stars. If you’re looking for off the grid, this is your place. Bring some books and a fishing rod.

  • A great place to unwind and enjoy the peace and great views. Be sure to take a trip in the boat to Spencer for brekky or lunch. The kids caught many flathead off the jetty and spent hours playing and fishing. Leave the electronics at home. There is no mobile reception or internet, so you can switch off and unwind.

  • Excellent. It was lending exactly what we needed. Great location, great value for $. I highly recommend 'The last resort'. We're already planning the next trip.

  • Tracy's place was amazing. Couldn't fault the position, space and facilities. The pool was refreshing during the warm afternoons and bifolds throughout the living areas ensured the place was open to the breeze and views. So many great spaces in the house meant you could always find some peace if required. Getting there with the water taxi was easy and only 10 mins from Mooney Mooney. Sunset drinks on the wharf, lunch at Peats Bite (15 mins by hire tinny- rented via Water Taxi co) and BBQs by the pool were highlights. The house is kitted out with board games, dvds, books, fishing gear, pool toys etc etc. Just bring your food and drinks. Everything you need is there. The kitchen was also excellently appointed and for 2 families (9 people) the bedroom configuration was ideal. Great communication and Tracy was on hand to answer any queries. Highly rated and already dreaming of a return visit.

  • Tracey was amazing with getting back to me very fast and very helpful. Her place was better than expected ! We arrived to a beautiful spacious house with a stunning view, I thought It was going to be a problem with finding a boat to get a us there and from but I book and hired a boat from the local water Taxi. It was very much worth it ! The house was so clean and above expectation, the heated pool was amazing to cool off in. I would definitely be recommending and staying here again.

  • Beautiful spot if you are looking for a waterside getaway. Great house, big kitchen and open plan lounge area very comfortable for a big family.

  • Tracy is a fantastic host! She gave us all the information we needed to know about how to get there and the house is absolutely fantastic! It is set up really well with the big entertainer's deck and the open kitchen. Our dogs had a great time exploring and swimming - us adults enjoyed a glass of wine on the deck and the pool was great for cooling down after a long lunch at Peats Bite. The house is really on a great spot at Bar Point, we loved the well stocked kitchen and we will definitely be back for a long weekend soon! Thanks for being such a great host Tract :)

  • Just back from the most amazing weekend at Tracy's place - the images really do not do the property justice, it's just stunning and right on the water where we witnessed the most beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Access to kayaks and the jetty was very convenient, especially in the winter sun. A fully equipped kitchen made our stay and feeding 9 people so easy. Couldn't recommend Tracy's place more - it has been a perfect weekend and will definitely be back soon. Thanks Tracy!

    Nicola2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Tracy. We had a great weekend. You've got a very special spot there at Bar Point. Very peaceful, a beautiful surrounding landscape and the boat-only accessibility make it unique. Tracy kindly left a bottle of wine and block of chocolate on arrival and the place was spotless and had all we needed for a memorable stay.

    Will2017-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a relaxing break and good quality time with your family or friends, Tracy's house is the perfect place. You have exactly all you need there (and probably even more) with a very well equipped kitchen, a nice swimming pool (just want you need to refresh yourself on a hot day) with the barbecue close to it, good room sizes, a quiet and nice location. We had a wonderful stay and I can only recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place, for a week or a week end.

  • Wow just wow. Could not of ask for anything more the house was everything that we expected and more. Extremely well equipped from the kitchen to toys and games for the kids. kayaks and even a tinnie for us big kids. Having free wifi was a great added bonus. Plunge pool was just perfect to sit in and have a relaxing drink after a days fishing, which was also good including straight off the wharf in the morning and evening. Would like to thank Tracy for the use of such a wonderful home

  • Very relaxing week in a beautiful place!

    Alessandro2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely week at the house. Most beautiful spot on the river. We spent lots of evenings having dinner on the deck and using the bbq. Each room had a stunning view and was a perfectly tranquil get away, thank-you!

    Sid2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • My family had a lovely time, we spent most of our time fishing and relaxing. We took the tinny to Spencers point to buy some food one day, its very expensive but we already knew that but still enjoyable . We did some laundry but couldn't find a clothes horse. The fridge and cupboards had a few necessities which helped out. Alot of mozzies at night so you'll need spray as coils aren't allowed. There was one couch & an unusual shaped chair, it was a little squishy for the 4 of us as both boys are 6 ft. The stairs to the bedrooms are steep so try not to forget anything. We didn't bbq but they have a good one, the table near the bbq is old & I suggest the owner disposes of it. Everyone we met was friendly & people going past in boats always wave hello.

  • Amazing place to connect with the nature. The tranquil setting amongst the fishes, water and greens was perfect for us. The perfect weekend away without the distraction of modern technology. Absolutely loved it

  • Mike's house is fantastic. The location is incredible with beautiful views of the river and convenient at only 55 min from central Sydney. The house was clean and well equipped. Having use of the boat was great to go fishing and explore the area. There was some wood for the open fireplace and Foxtel to watch the footy! Unfortunately there is no internet and mobile phone reception very limited but I am sure this would please some people to disconnect on a weekend away. The kitchen was great and well equipped for us to cook in. There is a general store up river but being a captive market is very expensive so make sure you bring all necessary provisions (they do have newspapers etc so is quite convenient). Bob and Lorraine (the neighbours who looked after us) were very helpful with petrol for the boat and leant us a crab pot to try and catch a mud crab! Overall it was a wonderful experience and would highly recommend.

Boat access only, this modern one bedroom house has all you need for a relaxing weekend away. Sit and chillout on the wrap around verandah that overlooks the Hawkesbury river. We live off the tank water on the property, so please use water sparingly – thank you. A water filtration system is installed in the kitchen for fresh drinking water.
Water access only, house has its own private jetty with pontoon
Very private with only a few holiday homes next door. The house is waterfront, however there is a great bush behind you can hike in.
  • We had a lovely time. Very peaceful and relaxing. Would recommend to our friends.

  • Absolutely loved our stay. Loved driving 45 minutes from the city, jumping in a tinnie and arriving to such serenity. Karen's place had everything you need to unwind. We explored by boat, the shipwreck nearby, soaked up the history and cooked lots of delicious meals. If you're looking to relax and get off the grid, we highly recommend this wonderful place.
