The stone walls and lighting make this particular apartment. The accommodation is situated in the center of the small medieval village of Badalucco, a few km from the beaches. The country is connected by an efficient bus service in Arma di Taggia, a small town on the sea, and Sanremo, the famous resort.
On request, in case of stays of seven days, is available linen (sheets and disposable towels) at a price of EUR 7 per person per week. For stays of 7 days we will be charged 20 € for cleaning.
  • Roberto's place was as described, great vaue for what you pay. I will definitely stay again and recommend my friends

    Regina2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is awesome. Very pretty and clean. The kitchen is perfectely equipped (we didnt need it this time but maybe we will start cooking the next time we come back). Newly renovated and located in a quiet, pittoresque vicolo. We loved it and would definitely come back! Badalucco is a great village in general and Robertos place gives you the best value for money.

  • Amazing Place!Lovely view, small beautiful village in the Mountains.Only 5km from sea. We'll be back! Adrianas friend Franca is very helpful,we arrived late and she brought us Soup for the Kids,Milk and Wine. She is there when ever needed.

  • Nice and clean apartment. Amazing views from all around the house! Adriana wasn't there but her friend Franca gave us a warm welcome. She was very friendly and explained us everything about the place. Brought a bottle of Italian red wine, thank you again! Castellaro is a cute and quiet village high up in the mountains. Drive to the beach takes about twenty minutes by car. San Remo about fifteen minutes. Also visited Bussana Vecchia, an artists' village, very nice. Would recommend this place for the absolutely stunning views! But would advise to rent a car, since it's a high up in the mountains.

  • The apartment and especially the view is great! We enjoyed staying in this small village so much and Marco and Franca who took care of us were very kind! We can totally recommend staying here. If you do so you should go to taggia

  • The apartment is absolutely nice, cozy and comfortable and has averything you need! Sea is just 10 minuts by car and view from the balcony is gorgeous. Although it is was hot weather we didn't feel any discomfort because of windows jalousie and good air movement. Special thanks for welcoming plate of fruits)))

He also will book restaurants locally for you so you don't need to speak fluent Italian to stay here. The locals are very hospitable and everyone greats you as you go past. • Davide's place is great - as described up on the hill with a magnificent view out to sea. The drive up there up the hill is not for the faint hearted, but it is well worth it. We had a beautiful dinner with Davide and three of his friends.

    Jonathan2017-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • The place was a great getaway overlooking the city of Taggia and the Med. We swam in the pool all night and used the wood BBQ. Davide was accommodating and helpful. Very happy with our stay.

    Kim2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • A breathtaking location and plenty of space for a family or a small group of visitors. Being able to enjoy a well-kept swimming pool with a view over Arma di Taggia is a great luxury. Davide is a very helpful and discreet host. The only caveat is that mentioned by several other guests: the road is not for timid drivers. Yet such persons are unlikely to find themselves behind the wheel in Liguria to begin with. Oh, and you have to at least tolerate cats as well. They'll come to greet you every time you step out of the door.

  • We were welcomed by Daria and her husband as though we were family. They were friendly, generous and helpful. The house was cosy and comfortable. There are two levels - the main level for living and sleeping contains gorgeous antique wood furniture with a CD player and selection of classical music and books to help you unwind from your journey. A window opens up to an amazing view of the valley. The lower level has a cabinet stocked with essentials and a bathroom stocked with many bath products. The kitchen opens out to a beautiful garden with spectacular views of the town and mountains. Our hosts were quickly attentive to all our needs. We would be delighted to stay here again. One note: the path to the house is a bit steep and the spiral staircase in the house is narrow and steep which may be challenging for persons of limited mobility. We had no problem with this though, and despite being able to carry our own bags, our kind hosts still insisted on helping us carry our luggage to the house. They could not have been any more friendly or helpful.

    Anthony2017-09-10T00:00:00Z

  • The house has just been restored, so I am honored to be the first to give a feedback on it. The place is marvellous, strategic in terms of walking in the mountains (the hosts, who were quite helpful and friendly, suggested me a beautiful road in the valley which brings to the secular oak, local amenity!). The house has some amazing pieces of antique furnuture in it, quite elegant but absolutely in harmony with the authentic rustic ambience. The view, as the description says, really takes your breath away! Quite a confortable structure with a beautiful garden all for the guests, an ideal place for a pieceful meditation in the midst of ligurian splendore. It was a pleasure staying here! Highly recommended.

  • Ludovico is such a great guest. Unfortunately we arrived late but he was very nice to organize himself to wait for us. Then he offered us olive oil from is own olive fields. He also gave us advises about the surrounding restaurants:-) The flat is nice and comfortable. Exactly like the pictures show it. The small village is very beautiful : the small old streets, the amazing church and the valley itself... We really enjoyed everything!

    Cyprien2013-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Ludocico was a great host. He was very communicative and accommodating in arranging a time to meet. He also gave us a safe place to park our bikes, provided a good introduction to the area, and made sure we felt settled in before leaving us in peace to enjoy the apartment and quaint village. The apartment itself is very tastefully decorated and comfortable (mattress and pull-out bed are firm), and the kitchen is fully equipped. The town and its surroundings are stunning - we came here to do day trips on our road bikes in the surrounding hills and cook feasts in our apartment at night and all our expectations were surpassed. There's a beautiful river in which you can swim that flows through the village, and there's a number of restaurants serving typical and delicious Italian food. I will surely come back again when I have the chance!

  • Ludiviko couldn't have been a more helpful host even being so kind as to leave us his very own olive oil and olives. So delicious! The apartment was clean and comfortable. Be aware that it is up three flights of stairs and the light in the hallway was rarely on- making passage quite challenging in the dark. Secure underground parking was great though. All in all a good experience.

Stone house in Pietrabruna, 20 minute distance from the Riviera. The House includes one double bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, with table and chairs, a small living. The garden is shared with the family house and is available for the guests, with all the furniture.
Very relaxing house, in the middle of Pietrbruna, a medieval village of backcountry in Liguria. The house is confortable, with a big garden with fruit plant, lavanda bushes, olives trees.
Pietrabruna is a peaceful medieval village, no cars can drive inside the center. If you go through the typical small streets, called “carruggi”, you can admire the houses made with local stones, the two main squares, the one of San Matteo's Church and the Republic Square, which is used for festival, concerts and cinema. There are two bars, in the upper parte of the village, and restaurants (Agriturismo Au Torciu), a small grocery and a drugstore. The small museum exhibits documents and objects of the local history and culture.
  • Alessandra's house is small and functional. You will find everything you might need in there. It has been furnished with great tast and attention to detail. It is very clean and tidy, although maybe a tiny. We missed a comfortable place to sit inside in case of bad weather. The house is beautifully situated in the picturesque mountain village of Pietrabruna and has a great little garden with a spectacular view of the valley. Alessandra herself was always accessible and friendly - good communication.

  • We had a nice stay in the house in the lovely village of Pietrabruna. The owners gave us the feeling we were very welcome. We could use the garden of the family house, but they gave us enough privacy. The house is perfect for two persons. In Pietrabruna you have a small grocery shop and a bar with sea view.

  • we had very good communication with the owners and the stay was absolutely pleasant. The house is at the edge of the town and also because the town itself is forbidden for cars (there is a public parking place very near) it was really quiet. The house is not very big, but it is enough for two persons and has all the basic things you need. Living design is plain but stylish. The garden gives extra relaxation with a pretty good view of the surrounding mountain and valley. All in all very recommended.

  • We were greeted by Steffano, Pino's co-host, which is an extremely kind person, a really incredible guy. The appartment is all refurbished but it has still an authentic italian look, placed in a really cool neighbourhood, very stylish. If you want to know what is like to live in a small italian village, this is the place to go to. I went with my girlfriend and my mom and we all loved it.

  • Esperienza molto positiva.

Athos

  • Thank you so much Fulvia for this experience! We had an amazing time in Pietrabruna – what a wonderful place. Can highly recommend it to anyone interested in visiting a relaxing part of Liguria, away from tourists. The apartment had everything we needed and more, and Fulvia was truly a great hostess! Don't hesitate! Come to Vecchi Ulivi, eat breakfast on the amazing balcony, enjoy the beautiful view, take a morning swim in Laguna Pietrabruna and finish off your day with pizza and beer at La Colombiera (the best bar in town).

  • The Vacation in Pietrabruna was great! Fulvia was a great host and very friendly, we felt very welcome in the wonderful place. She gave us very good tips (Hicking, Beaches,...) what we can do and Fulvia took the kids to help her in the garden. The kids loved it. This apartment exceeded our expectations. I am already looking forward to our next stay in Pietrabruna.

There are three bars within a hundred meters of the studio which have free internet connection. Other amenities found nearby include a post office, bank and three groceries.

  • Hi everybody, my boyfriend and I stayed at Christer's and Nilla's summer residence for four days this August. If you’re looking for some silent days away from the hectic every-day life to relax in a lovely mountain village, you will love this little house. The house offers a great view over a river valley and the village of Ceriana, which is a really tourism friendly village. In front of the house is a small square where you can finish a perfect day with a proper barbecue and a glass of wine. Inside the house, there is a television, a chimney, a wet-room, a gas-cooker and a big fridge. Without any request we even got a portable internet adapter. Very special were a lot of nice things in the fridge. We got some home made jam, some olives and a sparkling wine, which made us feel really welcome. We wish you amazing days and unforgettable memories in the mountains, you will enjoy it. Marc & Lena

  • Perfect!

    HELEN2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Krister and his wife Nilla are a real nice bunch of people, and they were very welcoming and helpful in all respects. We liked it very much in their appartment which is centrally located, nevertheless calm, with a marvellous view on the hotchpotch of rooftops beneath and the surrounding mountains. The appartment is nicely furnished, the beds were perfectly cozy to sleep in. We definitely would return any time possible because Ceriana is a nice place to be for everyone who likes good food (despite the place being only a village of about 1,300 inhabitants you can buy everything there in a very good quality!), nice people and a stunning landscape.

    Susanne2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • A clean, we'll equipped apartment in a beautiful setting. Christer is an excellent host, very helpful. We will certainly return.

    HELEN2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • It is basic, but clean, nice and friendly, and in the centre of Ceriana. We liked it a lot!

  • We had a very nice stay in Christer's apartment. It's beautifully located in the middle of ceriana with breathtaking views, small but perfectly equipped with everything you need and tastefully furnished. Would always come back!

  • Christer and his wife are very friendly people! He's being a very helpful host. Ceriana Is a very cute village in the Mountains, very close to san remo. There are lot of options, what to do, go to the Beach, discover the Mountains and villages around. The Apartment was much better then expected. You have everything you need. We are happy we decided to spend some days in ceriana in christers Apartment ! Thank you very much Christer! :)

    Tim2016-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our six nights in Ceriana was very good. The studio was nice and clean, and it included everything needed for a stay in this beautiful mountain village. In addition, the studio was perfectly located in Ceriana, with an excellent view of the surroundings.  s Ceriana offers a few genuine Italian restaurants, grocery stores etc, and is located 40 minutes from Sanremo with bus. The nature around is incredible, and we could especially recommend to visit the refreshing ”swimming pool” in the river nearby. sss Finally, Christer was very friendly and helpful, and we could warmly recommend him as a host.

Gorgeous house in small medieval village 20 min above the Italian Riviera. 160 sqm, five beds. A space beautifully furnished by two artist-friends in a peaceful and genuine village. The terrace offers astounding view over the valley.
The area In Liguria where the Alps join the Mediterranean Sea, small medieval villages are scattered along the valleys and are often hardly visible from the sea. This part of Italy is still relatively unexploited. The coastline is of course busy like everywhere but you do not have to travel far from the waterfront to experience a rural tranquility. This part of Liguria in Northwest Italy is called "Riviera dei Fiori" because of its mild climate around the year and favorable for cultivation of flowers and olives. In close proximity there are the mountains with many opportunities for trekking. Skiing is two hours away, wintertime. The Riviera offers possibilities to discover new beaches and bays every day (all is small scale in this part of the coast), exploring local markets, restaurants, golf and excursions nearby. The village Pietrabruna is situated 95 km from Nice Airport, approx. 1,5 hours on the highway. The closest larger city is San Remo, 45 min drive, Imperia approx. 30 min drive. 350 meters above sea level at the top of a valley, 20 min from the sea with car which is recommended to have as there is a bus only three times a day. In Pietrabruna we are all fortunate to be guests and in minority as opposed to in more touristic areas. Villagers have been living here for centuries working mainly with flower and olive farming and the small village still is vital with a school, a post office, a small grocery store, two restaurants, one with bar. It is a peaceful place, particularly suitable for the quiet life, walks in the hills, food&cooking, relaxation and contemplation. And yet so close to everything the Riviera has to offer, the Italian and the French. Near the village there are also natural sweet water ponds and waterfalls as a cooling alternative to the sea. The house Is furnished by me and my artist friend Maria, hopefully you will find it both tasteful and very practical, both aspects are as important to us. The basement dates from the 16:th century and the house has been gently restored through the years. 160 sqm. four floors, three bedrooms with two double beds and one single bed. In the living room there is a fireplace for use cooler days. The bathroom has a shower, bathtub, toilet and a bidet. There is a small bathroom with toilet in connection with one of the bedrooms. There is a laundry room with washing machine. The top floor has a kitchen, dining space and a terrace. The kitchen is well equipped for everybody like ourselves who enjoy Italian cuisine. Dishwasher. There are windows in three directions and from the terrace you have an amazing view over the valley with the hillsides and olive plantations. Clear days you see the Mediterranean Sea.
Based on experience from previous guests, there is plenty of information and suggestions gathered in the house.
  • Ivar was a perfect host, the communication with him was very very pleasant. The cozy apartment was perfect for a relaxing holiday. The view from the roof terrace is breathtaking. You have to see this small and unique mountain village, it's amazing. Thanks Ivar for everthing!

  • Ivar & Maria have a great stay in Pietrabruna. It's clean, fresh, great rooms and most of all located on a lovely square with a view to die for. Pietrabruna is a place where the atmosphere is authentic, small and quiet (there is a shop and 2 restaurants, so it's not end of the world). Pietrebruna is a good place to return to when you made a trip to the other lovely towns in Liguria. The house has very well desinged rooms and the sleepingrooms have very comfortable beds. We traveled with our son of 15 month (not walking), the house is not very adapted for little children who can walk, but Ivar did his outmost to make the stay comfortable and safe four our son! He had a great time...! We strongly recommend the Townhouse from Ivar as your temporary house when staying in Liguria, it was a delight to stay there for 9 nights!

  • We had a very pleasant stay, thank you Ivar! The house was great And very good equipped. Perfect circumstances for our First holiday in beautiful Liguria!

  • ONE WORD : WOW ! The house is much better live than on the pictures. Very big and the view from the terrasse is great. The village is beautiful and really calm. The perfect place to relax after a day at the crowdy beach. The Bar Columbriera is great for breakfast, lunch or just to have a good Craft Italian Beer. Do not go to the Tabacci Trattoria (terrasse in the parking), the price is very very expansive for what you get and the service is not really good.

  • We had wonderful days in this peaceful and beautiful place. All were very friendly and Pietrabruna is the perfect place to relax, drinking a cappuccino in the bar, hiking, reading... The house was very good and stylishly equipped, the view from the terrace breathtaking. We also liked the beach of San Lorenzo, which you can reach in twenty minutes by car. My daughter and her friend took several times the bus, which was uncomplicated. Great was also the lovingly prepared dinner in the small reastaurant near the house. I hope we'll come back again.

    Margrit2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great stay. The house is so lovely, the view from the terrace stunning. The house is fully equipped except of TV (but you don't need it there). And the village of Pietrabruna is so nice. Highly recommended.

  • We - my wife, my tow daughters and myself - liked very much our stay in Pietrabruna! The apartment was perfect, the contact with Ivar was very pleasant and easy, and Pietrabruna is small village with nice people and a lot of local activities. And because the weather was also like we hopped it would be... (sunny, warm, but not too hot)... we will keep our vacations in Liguria in very pleasant memories.

Set on an idyllic mountain with beautiful views of valley and sea, small stone rustico with a wood burning stove, roof window for watching stars, 1 double bed on platform I single day bed below, outdoor kitchen and covered roof terrace, solar phone/tablet charger and solar fridge. shower, compost loo with great views
Enjoy total relaxation, getting back in tune with nature, staying in this basic but comfortable, quirky eco dwelling, which has been personally developed with this in mind. The rustico sleeps 2 to 3 , and there's a lovely tee-pee dome tent with real mattresses for 2 to 3 additional guests, the tent is big and roomy, this is all set in the owners tranquil olive grove in the Ligurian mountains. From the dwelling there are spectacular views of the valley and the ocean beyond and a roof window that let's in natural light during the day and the night sky with a miriad of stars after sunset. There's an outdoor kitchen to make the most of the glorious weather (although indoor facilities are available) there is a wood burning stove and availability of hot showers, solar fridge for ice cold drinks, solar charger for phones and devices and free WiFi there is however no electricity, candle light being preferred which adds to the magical night time ambience of this special place. There is a secluded compost toilet with amazing views.... giving a whole new meaning to the word contemplating. Although secluded and peaceful it's just a 30/40 min walk down a lovely walking track to the town of Ceriana, which is like stepping back to an Italy in time with it's 12th century architecture, maze of alleyways and piazzas, yet enough shops, bars and eateries to meet all requirements. A natural swimming pool too with a delightful view to town. It is also a great hiking area, with the Mediterranean sea being just 6 miles away and at the top of the atmospheric valley is the beautiful old druid village of Baiardo, where the alpine views are such they take the breath away. The owner lives on the land in a strawbale/cob roundhouse and is a quirky pleasant gentleman who gave up his life in Industry a few years ago to follow a more sustaining and sustainable way of living. He found here such a place of beautiful and natural surroundings it's almost hard to believe, and he loves to share this place with others.
The old town of Ceriana is magical, with a traditional way of life still alive, there are a maze of alleyways to explore and many festivals throughout the year, twice at weekends in summer. It is built from the river upwards and it's unique charm draws many artists inspiring their work. A natural swimming pool is in Ceriana with delightful views of the old town There are many beautiful walks around the valley, and the views from Monte Ceppo are stunning. The sea is 7miles away with a choice of beaches and cafes to chose from.there's a purpose made cycle route that follows the sea and can be accessed at various places along the coast
  • There is no way and no word to describe the atmosphere, the experience and what you will feel at Alan's place. It's just a perfect place to disconnect and have a real and thorough break. You will leave revitalized with a desire to come back again!

    Benoit2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Where to begin!!! We only stayed for two days but could have stayed an entire month! We had an incredible time staying with Alan in his beautiful olive grove on top of the hill in Ceriana. Alan went above and beyond every step of the way to make sure we felt at home and had the best time exploring the town and neighboring hills. The space was truly magical and every detail was carefully thought of -- from fresh herbs next to the kitchen space, local wine waiting for us, firewood, and drinking water, to beautiful sitting spaces ready for us to relax in. Alan helped us find incredible local trails, restaurants, and swimming holes to explore. We are already dreaming of our next visit!

    Reilly2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place. Remote, wild, peaceful and yet still comfortable and with everything you might need. We loved the natural pool in Ceriana, which is an incredible town; a labyrinth of alleys and narrow streets to explore. Alan could not have done more to make our stay so wonderful. I loved the open shower looking across the valley, the walk down to town, Milou the dog and cooking pizzas in the oven.

    trine2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This place is utterly beautiful surrounded by pristine nature and open sky! If you ever wondered what it's like to live in an olive garden by the Italian coast, this is your chance. However, you must be prepared for this rustic beauty to really enjoy the remoteness and basic living in/with the nature. It's not an easily accessible place, especially if you have a lot of things to carry with you. You must know that you can't bring your own car as this place is connected by two narrow bridges and roads aren't properly maintained. You can either hike up and down (takes 30 leasure minutes downhill) or walk (I didn't walk, but it could be about an hour?) to his place from the town (where you will park your car). However Alan is there with his car (sturdy with dents) to give you a ride with your stuff (which we also did), takes about 15 minutes. Make sure you bring a mosquito net and insect repellant (you are in nature after all) for a good night sleep. And it helps to shower in the natural swimming pool near the village or in the ocean nearby to conserve the water in the guest house. Because there is no running water, Alan has to bring water from the village in his car. The open air compost toilet is maintained properly so it's not smelly at all, and I think it comes with the best view while minding a very personal business. The best selling part Alan's place is that the simplicity with a touch of basic comfort to really appreciate the most valuable things in life: a comfortable bed, a brick oven to make pizza, a solar powered little fridge to keep your beer and wine cool while you sit under the olive trees and take it all in with the spectacular view of the setting sun, the distance ocean, and the town of Ceriana and just get cozy with your loved ones by the fire.

  • Million star hotel That's the number of stars you see from your bed at night but also the rating of our trip to Ceriana. Alan was a most incredible host, making us all feel instantly at home and welcome. We descended on him with our 2 kids and a big dog. It was the most enchanting experience we've ever had. Talk about detoxing from the hustle and bustle of today's life. What a refreshing experience! Alan has made an incredible job of his rustico and olive grove. He has created a paradise on the top of a mountain with breathtaking 360° views. The rustico has everything you could ever desire in a real house, only it's totally eco-friendly and created outdoors. Alan, took such great care of us that we would definitely come back. He came and collected us from the village and taking us up the hill (if you don't have a narrow car, you won't get up in your own car) and brought us firewood regularly to keep us warm in the evening. The kids slept in the tent which they adored. We slept in the beautifully decorated rustico and its really confortable double bed (complete with a wood burner). We loved the outdoor shower (that Alan heats with firewood - you must see his invention : it's brilliant) and the pizza oven that we fired up the last day to make the most delicious homemade pizza you've ever tasted. The kitchen is brilliant, the outdoor bathroom is too and I just loved the hammock. We only stayed for 3 nights but it seemed that we had taken a week off. Thank you Alan & Milou for your incredible hospitality! We'll be back!

    Imogen2016-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Alan was a wonderful host and his place is a magical lesson in the beauty of simplicity.

    nigel2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our time at Alan's was amazing. If you like to be in the nature and don't mind being a little bit away from everyday's trouble, it's the perfect place to be. Up on the hill you can really calm down but Ceriana and the area around San Remo also have a lot of amazing places to discover. Alan had many very good tips for us and was always helpful with everything. The accomodation is super beautiful if you're into DIY and ecological living and the description and comments are desciribing the location pretty precisely. The highlight is the most beautiful view that you have during cooking, eating, even from the toilet and the outdoor shower. It's amazing what Alan created up there. Our only troubles were the mosquitos, but that's the price you have to pay when you want to be in nature. It was still amazing to sit outside watching the impressive night sky over Liguria. We were two people staying in the Rustico and because we had some luggage it was a little cozy. But if you're three people or more you can easily set up the tent outside which should be no problem as well. Alan is a real host by the truest meaning of the word. He is extremly helpful, taking us up to the lot with his car whenever we needed to. So you can plan your daytime activities however you like. We also really enjoyed sitting down with him for a drink or toying around with little Milou. We discovered this place by chance but were immediately struck by the beauty of the olive grove and Ceriana and its inhabitants. To us it was a little bit like having holidays with friends.

    Valerie2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking at Alan's place right now and feel a bit reluctant, don't. (Well, if you're that kind of person that needs a hot bath before going to bed or air conditioning, well, you might think twice then) but otherwise we strongly recommend this. Alan is the most helpful host we've ever had and his place is amazing. This is the perfect getaway from a stressful lifestyle and just enjoy peace and quiet. (Accept the noice of the crickets.....) We'd love to come back and stay a few more days.

Large, charming riverside attic with sloping ceilings and wood burning fireplace in Badalucco, Riviera dei Fiori, Liguria, Italy. Fantastic views from the living room and balcony over the Argentina river and the surrounding olive grove-terraced hills.
My apartment, situated on top of a three storey building is 110 sqm in size and is therefore very spacious. Olive wood parquet flooring, fitted kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with shower, large living room, TV lounge, reading area. It is equipped with 40'' TV, media player with a wide collection of movies, DVD player, music system, washing machine, hairdryer, WI-FI. The place is perfect for a family (however I would not recommend it for really small children), a small party of friends or couples wishing to get away from it all: the river view and fireplace make a perfect backdrop to romantic weekends away. It has 2 balconies: one ideal for al fresco dining during the balmy summer Mediterranean evenings - it is furnished with an outdoor table, 4 chairs and a barbecue; the second smaller balcony overlooks the river, allowing for relaxation and people watching while listening to the river running and sipping on an aperitivo or a nice glass of locally produced wine. Free parking is available by the sports field, situated on the other side of the bridge opposite the house (about 50 metres away). +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ PLEASE TAKE NOTE: Our minimum stay is 3 nights during the year but during PEAK SEASON (1st to 16th August) we require a MINIMUM stay of 7 nights. The published price per night is for 4 people only, any additional guest for up to 6 people in total will be charged an extra Euro 10 per night. Extra guests will be accomodated on the sofa bed in the TV lounge (with a memory foam mattress and therefore very comfortable). ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The village of Badalucco has a small supermarket and a grocery shop, 2 butcheries, 2 bakeries, 3 hairdressers, a deli, an art gallery, a wine bar, 3 other bars (one of them with a patisserie and artisanal ice-creamery section). There are 6 restaurant and 2 pizzerias proposing excellent local cuisine and a couple of olive mills (frantoi): these are open to the public and sell superb genuine local produce. As a bonus sporting activities such as mountain biking, tennis, hiking and river swimming can be practiced around here too!
Badalucco is the largest centre in Valle Argentina, a beautiful unspoiled area of North Western Italy, famous for its production of excellent olive oil sourced from the "Taggiasca" olive variety. Here you will find the real Liguria: luxuriant vegetation, vineyards, ancient olive groves and medieval villages perched on hills which propose an authentic and interesting diversion from the beaches of the buzzing coastal towns situated 10 minutes' drive away. In Badalucco, you will find tranquility, great local cuisine and friendly people. Badalucco's attractions and charm do not end in summer, autumn is great for mushroom and chestnut picking and during this season the woods of our surrounding hills are covered in the most beautiful yellow, red and brown hues, great for photography. Late spring - early summer is perfect for whale watching trips from Sanremo or Imperia. In spring you will find our beautiful vegetation in full bloom so hiking and mountain biking are at their best. We have books and maps on the best hiking routes in the area. EVENTS: The most important yearly events in the area are: "DIFfest", 14th and 15th July 2017 A very interesting and varied festival with art installations, food, theatre and music taking place in Badalucco "INVITO AL VINO" August 14th and 15th each year. A two day wine festival where one is able to taste some of the best wines from all Italian regions, accompanied by good food, music and a very festive atmosphere. It is one of the most attended events in the Riviera dei Fiori. It takes place in Badalucco. "SULLE ORME DI SAN BENEDETTO" 26th August. Taggia celebrates its most famous inhabitant, Benedetto Revelli with street food, music, fireworks and a re-enactment of its historical past with theatre shows in various parts of the town and in the magnificent newly restored castle. The actual San Benedetto's day is celebrated with another festival on the 12th of February every year (see below) "FESTIVAL DELLO STOCCAFISSO", 17th September 2017 . The Stockfish festival is a culinary feast which celebrates one of the most ancient local culinary recipes transmitted from generation to generation. The festival attracts gourmands far and wide. It takes place in Badalucco on the second Sunday of September each year. HALLOWEEN in Triora. The original "Village of the Witches" celebrates Halloween on October 31st in style. On this occasion the village honors of a group of unfortunate local females who were tried for witchery during the Inquisition era then tortured and killed. Triora houses a museum which tells the story in more details. SAN BENEDETTO's day in Taggia takes place on the evening of February 12th. It is a unique and very festive traditional occasion celebrating St Benedict, patron of the town. Benedict, during medieval times cleverly managed to save Taggia from a Saracene's siege by placing huge bonfires around the city squares. The pirates upon seeing smoke and huge flames from the seashore believed the place was already under attack and fled. On this occasion, fireworks, bonfires, music and dancing revellers create a party atmosphere around Taggia's streets throughout the night. MILANO - SANREMO. The classic cycling competition takes place at the beginning of March each year.
  • Our stay in the Riverside Apt.ment this summer vacation for a week in the beautiful and small village of Badalucco was very nice. From the house you have a lovely view at the Argentine river and valley. The appartment itself is big and there is enough room for a family of 4 or more. Authentic and cosy, with everything you need, with 2 bathroooms and 2 balcony's. Our children (11 & 9) loved it also, and often we took a swim down at the river. We had a wonderfull time in the mountains above the Tagia- and San Remo area and at the sea. Badalucco is a good kept secret in the Italian Riviera, as well as the icecream in Bar Pino! The very kind Giusy is the best host you can wish, we would love to come back!

  • We had one week in Giusy apartment. Both Giusy and her husband was extremely service minded And we had a wonderful time there It was an Extreme hot period in Italy but even though The apartment had no AC we had a breeze through the place. The town is unspoiled and appear authentic and we got a smile and hello from everybody. A real gem! One night Giusy's brother arranged a bbq on the hillside A fantastic experience- ask Giusy for information.

  • The apartment has a definite retro feel to it, which to us felt cozy and homely. Badalucco is an unspoilt, historic little town with lots to see. Our hostess, Giusy, and her husband Gavin, made our stay a very welcome one. We shared a most enjoyable evening together at the not to be missed wine bar under a portico in one of the town squares with a view off the impressive 16th century church front. The house is spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The terrace at the back of the apartment is great for enjoying starry nights, and hanging your washing Italian style. The dining room provides a panoramic view of the valley and outskirts of the village, and is the star feature of the apartment. The sounds of the river, the crickets, the Argentine Mountains, people on the street and the small village football pitch in the distance provide an almost cinematic experience . We totally enjoyed hanging out there. The nights are quiet, and conducive to a good night sleep. Every evening a nice breeze sweeps through the valley and pushes the heat out of the apartment. We found Badalucco to be an excellent base from which to explore all that the Riviera di Ponente has to offer. The town has two good bakeries, small shops, several excellent restaurants and a great Gelateria. And for those on a modest budget Pizzeria La Stua will give you the best pizza that Italy has to offer. The Côte d’Azur, Monaco and the major coastal resorts of the Italian Riviera are within comfortable driving distance. The mountains around Badalucco offer up an off the beaten track plethora of scenic mountain villages that your are certain to enjoy. Our host provided us with a wealth of knowledge on all there is to do in the area. And last but not least, don’t forget to order a box of Giusy's brother's vegetables which are cheap and of excellent quality.

  • A PLACE TO RECOMMEND! Giusy is a wonderful, very helpful host and the apartment is even nicer than descibed. Everything was well prepared, incl. milk, juice and vine in the fridge. Moreover, Badalucco is a charming village in the vicinity of hills and the sea. We had a very relaxing stay. Two nights very not enough...

  • Thank you Guisy for a memorable week in Badalucco and your apartment! The stay was even better than expected, and thanks for all help during the week. We would sincerely recommend anyone to stay at your place! Best regards Mattias and Rebecca from Sweden

  • We (2 adults + 2 teenagers) stayed at Giusy's apartment for 10 nights recently. It was perfect for our needs, an ideal base for exploring the hidden gems that are the villages in the surrounding hills yet close enough to the coast for access to beaches if you got tired of swimming in the river pools. We made day trips to Monaco, Genoa and even Turin from there. The apartment was clean (and well equipped for self catering) with balconies front an rear where you could sit/sunbathe with a drink and watch the world pass by, (or get a grandstand view of a football game on the local pitch.) Giusy gave us plenty of information about local restaurants, places of interest and activities. Badalucco itself is a charming town with its quaint narrow streets. The people were friendly and welcoming. It has some good value restaurants serving great food so we ate out more than we had intended to. (€8.60 for 4 two scoop ice cream cones & 2 cappuccinos in one bar). Judging by the amount of cyclists we saw it is very popular route for climbers with some challenging mountain roads in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and it is high on our shortlist for a return visit.

  • Amazing places, superb appt. and location, we just want to go back now. If you are looking for a place in the Italian Riviera then look no further. You really don't need to be next to the coast as you are only 15 mins away anyway. What you get instead is the beauty and I mean beauty of a fantastic little village in the Argentine Mountains, surrounded by rivers and private spots to bath and relax, gorgeous local cuisine at a number of high quality restaurants as well as the wine of course! Giusy and Gav were just amazing hosts, helping with all we needed pre and during the visit. To be honest they went out of their way and we were amazingly happy for their support. A dream holiday not to be forgotten.

  • Our stay in Badulucco was great. Awesome town with a lot to see. Our hostess, Giusy made our stay that much better. All our needs were taken care of and she was always around if we needed anything. The house is spacious, clean and comfortable. Although the weather was great for this time of year, the evenings were a bit chilly. Giusy provides as much wood as you need to keep the fireplace roaring. Our stay was great. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you Giusy.

  • Virginie was an excellent host. Always available, helpful and nice. Whenever we needed help or tips, she supported us. The flat was exactly like it was described in the ad. Clean and cosy. Everything we needed for our stay was already there - we also got a bottle of prosecco when we arrived:-) So we can highly recommend this nice little flat (including a nice terrace above the rofs of Badalucco) with a fantastic river to swim in nearby!!!

  • Nice apartment, Virginie was very friendly, helpfull, she organise for my husband nice experience he wants. Badalucco is nice place to spend vacation, ancient Italian village with friendly atmosphere and local people in the middle of hills which are settled with olive trees. We can only recommend this place due to its ambience. In few words we can say that was trully local Italian experience. Thanks again to Virginie.

  • Our stay at Virginie's apartment was just wonderful! Virgine has welcomed us at the apartment warmly, showed us everything in detail, gave us a lot of tips for the surrounding area (shops, restaurants, river side, ...) and how to spend our few days in a perfect way. She was always available for questions and even offered us to show us arround the village. The aparment is situated in an old, traditional house within Badalucco's old town - a perfect location. Just a stone throw away from the market square and typical italian (wine) bars and restaurants. It's only a few minutes walk to the beautiful river, which you can even see from the apartment. The place itself is newley refurbished and was very clean. You won't expect an apartment like that, seeing the house from the outside. And even better: the small roof terrace, where you can enjoy breakfast on top of Badalucco. Thanks again, Virgine - we really enjoyed the last days of our vacation!

  • Very lovely place with a lot of charm. A little difficult to reach. You have to leave your car 800 meters away cause the house is in a pedestrian historical village. You can make a travel in the past and it's part of the enchantment. Mariella who was there to give us the keys was really helpful and nice for us. A pleasant experience for a couple of days.

The town of Pompeiana is located on the south slope of Mount Cross. Its good southern exposure, proximity to the sea and the hill behind guarantee a mild climate all year round. Pompeiana is composed of several villages, the most ancient areas, distributed a short distance from each other. Among them, the villages Minting east, where is the house, Soprane homes and Barbarasa north, and Belli and Furnu south. To the west, behind the Tower of Panei, a tower built in the sixteenth century for warning and defense against barbarian invasions, there is another village (Costa Panera) abandoned after the disastrous earthquake that struck the Western Riviera during 1831.

  • We enjoyed our stay in this rustic suite with beautiful views of the Ligurian hills from the balcony. Nora, our host, speaks French as well as Italian and understands some English, and she was very helpful. We loved the tour of the extensive garden and Nora kindly gave us some of her homegrown fruits and vegetables, including the most delicious pears we've ever tasted. Thank you for your hospitality, Nora!

A charming medieval house with welcoming local atmosphere. Close to the beach, the mountains, Sanremo, Monaco and Nice. Perfect for an active family or as a refuge for those seeking peace and solitude.
This newly restored town house is located in Ceriana, an authentic Ligurian 'borgo' only 15-20 minutes drive from the seaside and about an hour and 15 minutes from Nice Airport. With its vaulted ceilings, heavy stone walls and terrazzo floors, this house provides the perfect setting for a genuinely rustic italian holiday. In order to create a light and open atmosphere, doors have been removed on all three floors save for the bathroom. Terrace with a view The house has three floors and a 25 m2 terrace extending from the top floor with a marvelous view of the mountain terraces that provides world famous olives, truffles and vegetables. With a double bed in the master bedroom, a single bed in the living room and a fold-out double bed on the top floor, there's plenty of room for a family or a small party of friends. (Please note there are no doors between the bedrooms). Perched on a cliff at the end of a lush valley between the sea and the Ligurian alps, Ceriana is an ideal base for exploring the region, whether your prefer hiking, swimming, skiing - or just staying put in this charming village, enjoying the views, the friendly cerianasci and sampling the local cuisine. We look forward to welcoming you in our italian home, Ben & Mette Please note: This is a medieval town with a lot of stairs. Likewise, the house is on three floors connected by stairs, so, unfortunately for some, sore legs will be part of this rustic experience. Heating: During colder periods, the main source of heating is a pellet heater using apx. one sack of pellets per day. The charge is 5 euro per sack. There may be an additional fee for the electricity, depending on the season. Distances by car: Nice airport - 1 hour 15 mins Milan - 3 hours Monaco - 40 mins Beach - 15-20 mins
Ceriana has a unique local atmosphere and the cerianasci are friendly and welcoming. Don't be surprised if the men ind the bar spontaneously starts singing - singing is at the heart of local culture and impromptu concerts in the main street are not unusual.

  • We had a very nice time. The apartment is nicely located in Ceriana with a magnificent view over the hills. The apartment is fully equipped. There are a lot of stairs getting to the apartment and in the apartment but for us this was no issue. Results in a great appetite. ☺ Ceriana is a lovely village with very nice people. The local grocery stores are the best. Good prices, great products and very friendly staff. Driving to Ceriana is also a in experience. Lots of small roads up into the hills. The natural pool in Ceriana makes going to the sea not needed.

  • We stayed in Benjamins house for a week and we immediately felt at home. The house is perfectly equipped, very cosy and beautifully restored. The view from the terrace is in one word breathtaking. The people in Ceriana are very warm and friendly. There is always something to do in the centre, have an espresso at Bar Rina with owners Lorenzo & Sabrina and be part of the local, social life which is there 24/7. Bussana Beach is down the hill and it is fun to be there. San Remo, Ventemiglia and Genoa are within reach. We surely recommend this house to everybody! The communication with Benjamin was swift and efficient, his liaison Kirsty who lives in Ceriana helped us checkin in and out and gave us also helpful tips to start with! Great place, great village and magnificent surroundings!

  • The photos of Ceriana and the house looked amazing but nothing can prepare you for the experience of being there. Ceriana is one the most magical and atmospheric places I have ever visited. The house is beautifully restored, simply furnished and very comfortable and homely. It was a joy to spend time on the terrace. The detailed guide and recommendations provided by Ben were incredibly helpful. Ceriana is great. We particularly enjoyed hanging out at the "Star Pub" and "swimming pool" in the river. Having Kirsty to welcome and help us when we arrived made everything easy. We enjoyed visiting the beaches (recommended by Ben) as well as some lovely walks in the mountains. Ceriana is a maze of steep, stone steps and alleyways, which are amazing, but probably tricky if you have poor mobility - that would be my only word of caution. We really hope to return.

  • Ben is a great host and responds really quickly to any queries. The house is in a super situation and the view from the terrace is spectacular. We watched the swifts flying below us during the day and listened to the frogs in the evening! The house is described accurately: it's clean and architectural, it isn't luxurious but it has all you need. Ceriana is a-m-a-zing! You really feel as though you're entering another world. As you can see from the photos, it isn't the place for someone who can't climb stares though. The food in the shops and Bar Rina was great and the little restaurant too - perfect. We were sorry to leave.

  • Benjamin was a fantastic host. He answered all our emails despite being in another country, within minutes. The house is located in a medieval town up in the mountains. It had a breathtaking view from the balcony. The house had everything we needed. It is a traditional, authentic area that has not been destroyed by over development. There were authentic shops to buy local foods. Be aware that there are several stairs to the house and within the house (definitely a great way of having kept us fit) but given that this was an authentic and beautiful town in the mountains, it is to be expected. The internet connection was also, very good. We loved our stay and would love to come again in the future.

  • The city of Ceriana is really wonderfull. The people there are sooo nice.. Everyone knows everyone and it really gives to our trip a real and wonderfull italian flair. Ben was really helpful with everything and the contact was nice and very fast. Though he forgot a baby cot he could organize one for us very quickly. Great host. The house is in some very bulky street. We couldn't park the car near the house and we had to lift our heavy luggages through some "broken roads". it was impossible for us to go there with the kinderwagen. Though it wasn't easy access we enjoyed our stay there. The city is still wonderfull as i said before. The house was on 3 floors with quite high steps and almost no doors (only one for the bathroom). So even if the place is given for 5 persons, you'll hear a lot about what's happening in the whole house. Furthermore i wouldn't say that it's kids friendly place. For our 6 months daughter you have to carry a lot to get there and for small children you have to be carful if they play in the stairs. The equiment was perfect (gas cooker, plates coffee machine, washing machine) and the terrace great to use. Even with thoses small cons that we found, we were more than happy with our stay in Ceriana and in the house. We enjoyed a typical italian flair and an unusual place to live. This place is really nice and soo much better than a standard hotel room...

  • Tasteful restored house in surprising and welcoming village. Outside the tourist crowds among olive trees and vineyards and near the sea. We had a pleasant stay and will certainly return.
