Tipi 1 is one of 16 units located in the Community Inn at the front of the Community First Village, a 27-acre planned community for the homeless & the world's largest tiny house village. The Community Inn lets people like you experience the goodness that's happening here & give dignified income to our formerly homeless friends. Our community has something for everyone; farms with chickens & goats, dog park, outdoor movie theater, soap-making, beekeeping, blacksmithing, & much more!
WELCOME TO THE TIPI! Enjoy the unique experience of staying in an authentic American Indian Tipi! Enjoy connecting with nature through your stay inside our tipi's while listening to the chirping birds and crackling nearby fire pits. You’ll love the views, the location, the outdoors space, the ambiance. It's a great place for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). Our large tipi's house up to 11 people and have 7 cots inside to sleep on. You will not have to share the tipi with anyone else. Guests will need to provide their own towels and bedding. If there are more than 7 people, extra guests will need to provide their own air mattress as well. Fans are also provided and help keep the air circulating throughout your stay! Note that the bathhouse is no more than 50 yards from your tipi. The bathhouse has 4 private individual locking bathrooms with flush toilet and sink and 4 private locking showers. All are available 24 hours a day and cleaned daily. Our tipi's are adjacent to an Alamo Drafthouse outdoor movie theater at the front of the Community First Village. For more information on the village search Mobile Loaves and Fishes online.
While we are an AirBnB, there are many different exciting aspects to our community. There are tiny house communities around the country, but there are none on 27 acres. We will grow to 250 people this year. The Community First Village is a $17 million dollar community specifically built for the richest people in Austin, but we only rent to the chronically homeless. Everyday we get visitors from around the country for tours and for the wisdom we've received in the last 18 years of working with the chronically despised of our city. Our experience is that transformation is not only possible, its beautiful; for you, for me, and for everyone. We are established by Mobile Loaves & Fishes, an Austin-area, Christian nonprofit.
  • Pretty good experience for tipi.

  • It was a pleasant stay.

    Mario2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Close to town, but also a cool spot to check out itself. Some of the residents may give you tours of their tiny homes if you walk the village, as an extra perk. Great value, July is hot, to state the obvious.

  • Such a beautiful community! We had a great time on our short stay.

  • Community First! Village is an amazing place, I went for 2 nights and stayed in Tipi 1. What they are doing is truly amazing, and I admire it so much. The photos are not enough justice, you just have to see it for yourself! I petted the donkeys, meditated at Pat and Bucky's Reflection Area, I read by the garden which is full of blooming flowers and veggies, took videos of the chickens and watched a movie Friday night at the live amphitheater. They have movie night every Friday, all you need is a blanket and CASH to buy goodies. Also, I didn't even need to use my bug spray. Though it is hot during the day, if you shower before going to bed you'll be fine! The cot is comfortable. If you're looking for some alone time to yourself this is the perfect place. This will be my permanent housing whenever I visit Austin again! Thank you Barret for being such a pleasant host!

    Melida2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Barrett is awesome. We arrived late to our check in and we're still able to check in and get our teepee. The teepee itself was clean and there were no mosquitos inside of it--the bathrooms were very clean--specially for being community bathrooms/showers. Barrett's cat was also cool, she was kind of like our host; very friendly and would check in on us from time to time. If I go to Austin again I'm definitely staying here.

This unique & amazing place is good for couples and solo adventurers. You'll take a hike down the hill to the authentic American Indian Tee Pee. Altho short, the hike is on a rough and steep terrain, and does have some steps on the steepest areas. Be sure to wear some good hiking shoes and be aware that you should be fairly fit to traverse it several times during your stay.
The TiPi is on the same property as the owners home & they will be on the property most of the time for you, if any needs arise. The Tee Pee cannot be seen from the house and you cannot see the house from the Tee Pee. It is very secluded. This is a peaceful and very quiet area, so we ask that you do not have loud music, as the sound carries around here. This is an authentic American Indian constructed Tee Pee. You will have a queen bed, linens, sofa, small kitchen and an ice chest all inside. We provide you with silverware, cooking utensils, a pot and a skillet, plates, cups, glasses, and a 4 cup coffee maker with coffee and filters. There is electricity. We provide you with 2 space heaters and 2 fans & we now have added a personal space air conditioner! . No smoking or pets please. Outside, we provide you with a propane grill with a burner, a bathroom & hot shower, a table and a comfy bench with a small fire pit below. Be sure to wear good hiking shoes to hike in. The area is very natural, therefore it's steep in most places with some steps along the way. You will need to carry your gear in down the hill. We provide you with drinking & cooking water. There is also a light and several lanterns inside. You'll just need to bring your food, drinks & any personal necessities. You will have access to our one man kayaks and a canoe that you can use, at the lake just below the tee pee. FYI, Lake Travis is a fluctuating lake and can go from very low to very high. When it's low, you will still have access to the deep water and the canoe, and kayaks at our park, which is just around the corner from entry to our driveway. When it's high, the water is just below the tee pee and the canoe & kayaks will be at the tee pee. We provide life jackets and they must be worn while in the water. The lake is currently at full level and just below the teepee.
This neighborhood is sparcely populated, quiet and peaceful. You most likely will hear the deer at night and possibly other animals.
  • We had a great time here. Ed and Donna were very friendly and made themselves available for any needs we had. The teepee was very clean and cozy and the provided space heaters kept us warm throughout the night, despite it dipping into the low 40s). This place is great as a home base to discover what the hill country has to offer since it is in proximity to so many destinations. Or if your perogotive is to just chill, it is perfect to relax on the deck, take in the view and unwind. You are close enough to town for provisions and dining options, but far enough away to have undisturbed nature (and star-gazing)...highly recommend!

    Steffany2018-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • They was very great. The best hostess I have ever rented from. Their hospitality was the best.

    Kim2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Come here if you want to RELAX. This is the ULTIMATE chill out spot: it's quiet, secluded, and very peaceful. Ed and Donna are really thoughtful hosts and were lovely people! This place is a little slice of heaven- go check it out! :)

    Nicki2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time even during hot weather. We went to the town for few hours during the day when it was 97 degrees outside to stay away from the heat. Personal AC helped a little with a couple of additional fans running inside the tee pee. In the morning, we enjoyed the kayak on the lake and bbq at night. It was a great get away from a busy life for few days. Donna and Ed helped us with our bags and shared really fun stories about the new journey they started by the lake Travis. We definitely want to come back when the weather gets cooler to experience what this place has to offer during fall/ winter season.

    Abigail2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Such an amazing experience and amazing host!

    Blake2018-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great, unique experience!

    Benjamin2018-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I loved the teepee. Ed and Donna are super nice. If you're looking for a unique weekend away that's also clean and comfortable, this is a great option.

    Joe2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and 2 co-workers planned a Girl's Getaway to relax and let loose. We couldn't have asked for a better place to do it. Ed and Donna were so patient with us and were very helpful! The TiPi far exceeded our expectations. The hike down to the TiPi wasn't too bad. The hike up from the TiPi was hard. Definitely need to be able to climb. Great leg workout though! I would recommend tennis shoes for sure. They did have an awesome tram type thing that sent a lot of our big stuff down by a zipline. The grounds themselves were beautiful. So much green. The amenities themselves were awesome! Shower and toilet. All outdoors, so you better bring some bug spray and be ready to be one with nature! We got acquainted with a very friendly lizard during our stay and a couple of large spiders. The bed had a mosquito net around it, which was super helpful! We spent a lot of time around the campfire (they provided wood) and grilling on the grill. Overall, it was a great experience that we would recommend to anyone. We will definitely be booking again.

Bienvenidos! We invite you to come enjoy the unique experience of staying in a Sioux style Native American Tipi. OESTE is an 11-acre boutique campground home to 10 tipis and Texas farmhouse. Located in the heart of the Hill Country– Dripping Springs, TX our tipis make the perfect place for camping in comfort.

We cannot express how wonderful Dripping Springs is. The people, the food, the drinks and the scenery– it's hard putting into words just how great the Hill Country is. OESTE is a place where we welcome everyone. It's the perfect place for wedding goers or anyone looking to enjoy all the Hill Country has to offer. Our neighborhood is pretty amazing, and includes all sort of points of interest: wineries, breweries, distilleries, an olive plantation, some of the best bbq in Texas and other great local restaurants. There are more than 30 wedding venues in the area– it's no wonder Dripping has been names "The Wedding Capitol of The World".
  • Another great win only 26 miles from ATX! If I don't feel like the full weekend in Marfa / Big Bend, a single night here + Luckenbach and a night dip in the Pedernales is just as good! Can't wait to come back. Keep this place on the DL! ;)

    Nathan2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Go stay in the tipiii! You won’t regret it! This place was all I hoped for and more!

    Katie2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at La Rosa Tipi was fantastic! Staying in a tipi is really neat. You get to fall asleep to the sounds of nature and wake up with sunlight. Our bed had a heating blanket which was needed because it was in the 40’s! Loved this place and will def be back again :)

    Victoria2018-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was very cold. I would suggest electric heaters

  • Our stay with Paola was great! The space was so cute and spacious, and the bathrooms/showers were so clean. Highly recommend!

  • Really adored my stay here. The space was warm and inviting, and the thorough communication beforehand was extremely helpful. The night sky was awesome, and a couple other guests had already started a campfire before we arrived. Everyone we ran into was a friendly, and the amenities were just as described. Loved it!

  • The place was great and I'm sure the issue has been fixed but it was really terrible that we expected bathrooms and showers but there was no water after the initial flush. Of course people didn't know that so they did their thing only to find out there was no way to make it go. By the time we found out, we'd already started drinking so no one could drive to a place that had reception so we could call someone. No one was there at checkin so we didn't know who to walk up to and no one came to tell is anything. We just assumed no one from the property was there. Add to that it's not really that secluded because it's very well maintained and the Tipis are quite close to one another and you can see right through the woods, so it's not like you can go around the corner with a little toilet paper. We were also quite sweaty after walking all day at the market and were really looking forward to a nice, shower.. You know.. Cuz we were glamping. Anyway. We did sleep comfortably and we had a good time. Oh and the bathrooms and showers looked nice for camp facilities so, there's that. Other than that the place is great and maybe we'll try again. It would be nice to have your own fire pit area with more chairs. Our neighbors wanted their own space so we felt bad that they had to hunt down an area far from their Tipi in the dark. But we did offer to share.

  • Great and unique experience. Paola was great at responding and accommodating to our needs. She gave good instructions about how to get there, what to expect, and other things to do. Prepare as if you’re going camping. Next time I would bring meat to BBQ. Highly recommended.

    Vue2018-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • We lived this place! Very secluded in the country side, plenty of hiking/walking options around. Highly recommend to people who want to escape into a nature to recharge batteries.

    Martin2018-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome tipis in a quiet yet creative location in the Hill Country. Very clean, comfy, and experiential accommodations. Just what we needed, fire, big skys, and close to home. The owner was a great communicator. We’ll return.

    Christie2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a really great get-away. It starts with the scenic route to get there. The Tipis are really clean and thoughtfully decorated. We loved it!

    Rebecca2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • As a fellow host, I thought I was exceeding expectations when it came to hosting, but Paola's Oeste defines Superhost to another level! We got the privilege of being the very first Tipi renters at Oeste. We have always wanted to glamp inside a Tipi, and being able to do so on a secluded piece of property was special. Paola has created something unique on her property, and I would invite anyone even considering this opportunity to book now! Very cool space, vibe, and super relaxing. The tipi's themselves were clean, spacious, and comfortable. Thanks Paola, we will be back!

    Luke2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • The teepee was spacious! Super cute and a cute fire pit area. With no A/C the teepee is very hot. There is power and fans that help. Get ready for more of a camping experience as it’s possible you’ll have “neighbors” and little alone time.

    Sharon2018-07-08T00:00:00Z

  • Our stay in tipi #2 was awesome! The cots were comfortable and the tipis has plenty of room for us! We are worried about rain but stayed completely dry through our one night with rain, it was so nice. The walk to the community bathroom wasn’t too far and they were very clean all weekend. Community is such a neat place to hang and feel like you’re doing some easy camping with just a short drive to all the awesome stuff Austin has to do. Would absolutely recommend!

  • Great get away for Glamping!

    Brenda2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We were so excited to finally come check out Community First! Village! It's located about 15-20 minutes from downtown but it's a breath of fresh air to return to after spending a day in the city. If you're looking to stay in one of the tipis expect a high quality tipi with very basic amenities. One of their cats, Goody, is exceptionally friendly. It slept in my husband's sleeping bag one of the nights and in mine a different night! Absolutely hilarious, this cat. I'd definitely encourage any and all to come check out this community. They're changing lives over here and you'll be glad to support them by renting a tipi or tiny house!!

    Sammy2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really felt incredibly safe... Even when showering late at night. I traveled alone this time. Cops were even taking a tour. Fans in Tipi made glamping fabulous! Even charged cellphone in Tipi. Wifi good enough for occasional connection. "I'm NOT even a camper"! I am now. Thx to Barrett for top notch service

    Robin2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Would stay again!

    Brandie2018-07-08T00:00:00Z

  • Paola was an amazing host! And helped make my birthday trip so enjoyable, She helped with anything I needed and with any questions I had. The Tipi was a blast to stay in! Was decorated so cute, with all the Perfect touches to make the tipi comfortable and cozy, and was very spacious. The camp ground is so quiet and peaceful as well, and is also close to so many restaurants on the list she provided of things “to do” which we went to a ton of, and were all perfect suggestions! I would highly recommend staying at Oeste campground for any occasion. You won’t be disappointed!!

  • If you are looking for a place to disconnect this is the place to go to, located in the beautiful hill country. I enjoyed my stay and was able to have an outdoor camping experience with the important amenities! I will def be back and will tell all my friends about this gem!

    Cynthia2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The campground has an awesome concept and the tipis are well put together. It's a great getaway that is close to many fun things to do. Late May was pretty hot but we spent most of our time in local waterholes and were back to our camp in the early evening which felt great. Definitely coming back!

    Benjamin2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Good Fun, with Caution Good Fun: The Tipis are great fun and wonderfully furnished! The owners have taken great care to create a unique and fun experience for their guests. I think once the facilities are fully finished it may be an even better experience! Caution: The first thing we had to do upon entering our tipi was kill a scorpion that was hanging out on the floor. Furthermore the port-a-potties were extremely unpleasant and clearly hadn’t been emptied in a long time. Finally, we were not even able to stay in the tipi the second night due to a massive lightening storm that rolled in. There is absolutely no service of any sort out there to help you keep ahead of the weather. Therefore we unfortunately wasted an entire nights stay and still had to drive into town in the middle of the night to find safe lodging during the storm. The lack of air condition is another factor to consider, Texas is extremely hot y’all! Overall: If you don’t mind roughing it this might be an option for you but since you are not paying “roughing it” prices I would caution you to think weather the tipis are a good option for your stay.

  • We had an amazing night at Oeste. The tipi was perfect and we stayed warm despite 40 degree temps thanks to the heated blanket. The common area has a ton of amenities and we were able to grill and cook breakfast without having to bring any of our own equipment. The surround sound doesn’t hurt either. Will definitely be back!

We are located just west of Austin in the town of Dripping Springs, TX. Our little boutique Campground is a unique opportunity to experience Hill Country life at its finest. Our unique lodging options allow you to surround yourself with nature while not having to sacrifice the basic comforts of home (we have toilets and showers!). We aim to provide an unpretentious space for you to relax and enjoy. Our journey of carefully developing the property has been done keeping guest needs in mind– we have places to grill, lounge and kickback and relax. Each tipi has a separate listing. Are tipis all include a bed+bedding, heating blanket (winter months), lighting, seating area, large fan (summer months), lighter, bottle opener/cork screw, bug spray. Also, some complimentary waters, a light snack and a coffee maker with some fresh ground coffee. El Arbol Tipi has a queen bed and can sleep two people. If you would like a king bed check out our listing El Corazon, El Arbol, El Mundo or La Rosa. If you need a tipi that sleeps three check out El Sol or El Nopal. *** We recently acquired a portable A/C unit available as an add-on for a surcharge. If you are interested in this option please let us know.
  • Paola is pretty detailed with the check in procedures and everything was pretty easy to figure out. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the site map prior to arriving as I didn't see one posted on the grounds, especially if arriving after dark. The accommodation was clean and super roomy! You could do jumping jacks in them... probably a human pyramid too. Some pretzels/granola bars/bottle water was provided in the room. The linens were comfy and electric blanket was hottttttt (handy on a 36F night). The firewood situation was a bit confusing initially, as there wasn't one designated place for it. Instead there were some random stacks of cut wood in various places and I was initially unsure about using them in case another occupant had brought them along for their use. After a while it was apparent that there weren't many people at the site on my particular night so I went ahead and used the firewood that was stacked by another vacant tipi. The bathrooms are super clean with plenty of hot water. It was about 40F when I showered in the morning so I did end up lingering in the shower a bit longer than usual. Good thing they have a tankless water heater so I wasn't depriving anybody else of a hot shower. The road into the property is unpaved and has some potholes here and there however my sedan, which is slightly lower than your average family sedan, made it through unscathed. Just go slow and you'll be able to avoid the rutted holey parts.

  • We really enjoyed our stay. This was such a unique and glamorous camping type experience. Lots of attention to detail and very clean. Paola and the Tipis made my birthday a very memorable and enjoyable experience. Plus, there is a book with a ton of local recommendations provided...every suggestion we went to was top notch! Highly recommend staying here and we would go again.

  • This trip was beyond our expectations!! The tipis were incredibly impressive and clean. The queen bed was VERY comfortable. Super awesome host with quick response time. We brought our black lab, which made the trip that much better! Provided fire wood. The camp grounds were gorgeous and well thought out. I can’t express enough how much we enjoyed our stay! We will definitely be coming back! Thank again for everything!

  • Beautiful place to stay while visiting, not far from Austin. Unique atmosphere to start off our adventure in Austin! Would highly recommended.

  • Great location to relax and unwind. Close enough for a quick trip and far enough to get into nature.

  • Awesome experience! When booking we where super excited about the price compared to other similar properties around the area. The property has a great location a few minutes away from town. Paola was such a good host. She had a list inside the tipi with different restaurants, shops, vineyards and natural parks. When coming in we were amazed by the size of the tipis. They had great amenities such as huge bed, small refrigerator, coffee maker and extra little snacks. We also requested for the a/c unit. I am not a huge camper so it was a must have and so glad they offered it! During our stay it started to rain and we didn’t have any issues with water coming in. I could say the rain made our stay a bit more magical. Definitely coming back!

  • Truly incredible place. I’ve stayed at many Airbnb’s, and this is by far my favorite. A very peaceful getaway, very stylish, and it pays tribute to Native American history. There are many breweries, wineries and restaurants nearby— most about a 20 to 30 minute drive. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again in the future.

    Liliana2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing place to stay. It is peaceful at night and everyone respects the quite time. This is camping with some conveniences... electricity, real bathrooms with sinks, tubs, and showers... and you get to sleep in a TIPI!! On a bed with a fan or ac unit if you want. All of this in a private area that's peaceful and IN NATURE. Bed was great and the lighting provide the perfect setting for....SHADOW PUPPETS. Oh, you may have some visitors in your room like spiders or scorpions, nature yo! Great place to kick off your Chacos and star gaze or practice your bird calls.

  • We had a great time staying in the tipi. Paola was very welcoming from the start. She responded very quickly and greeted us when we arrived. To our surprise, Paola also updgraded us to a larger tipi. Overall, I highly recommend staying at one of the tipis!

  • Our weekend at Oeste TIPIS was absolutely wonderful! Not only was it amazing experience staying in a TIPI for the weekend and grilling out but Paola provided so many great restaurants, breweries and swimming holes within 15 minutes of the place. We highly recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic weekend away.

  • Super cool tipi experience! I would suggest bringing a book with you! Very relaxing! Also bring some a blanket or lines. They weren’t the most comfortable but definitely where there. Also I would bring some extra chairs. I didn’t love the types of seating they had. Love being in dripping springs. Super cute city with tons to do.

I will set up this 16ft bell tent anywhere within 60 miles from Austin. You can rent a campground spot and I will set it up before you arrive. The tent comes with an queen size air mattress on a frame with bedding. I need a 20ft x 20ft flat spot with no tree above to set up tent.
Great for glamping!! Backyard, birthday parties weekend getaway, events.
  • We rented Jinny's tent for our boys' birthday party and it was a huge hit! Much larger than the photos depict, it easily accommodated many people comfortably. Jinny was very communicative regarding pickup and delivery, and she responded to questions clearly and promptly. Would definitely get the tent again - we loved it!

  • Such a fun experience! Keep in mind that you’re glamping, so down to bare essentials. That’s part of the experience though! This is super glamping - heated blanket, coffee maker, showers with nice shampoo/conditioner and soap, bathrooms, fire pits, pavilion with heaters and bar/kitchen area, etc. If you’re staying during cold months, I would def suggest bring a little space heater and a few blankets. The bare concrete floor makes it COLD, and it’s nice to have warm blankets by the fire or up at the pavilion. Very nice view from the pavilion and super quiet. Loved that there was hardly cell reception. This was the perfect weekend retreat for my husband and me!

    Maci2019-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • I surprised my girlfriend with a trip out here in the El Mundo Tipi for the night and it was the biggest success! I knew exactly what to expect because Paola had everything covered when it came to providing information on the property and its surroundings. The tipi itself was spotless and beautiful, the fire pit had great smelling wood right next it for us to use, there were fresh towels and even eye masks. The bathrooms were immaculate and the outdoor kitchen was fully stocked with plates and cooking gear. We enjoyed every amenity that this place offered us and will absolutely be back soon!

    Joseph2019-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was beautiful! My husband and I loved unplugging for the weekend and watching the stars. It was very peaceful and quiet, and Paola’s directions made it very easy to find. I would suggest going in cooler weather though. We went early October and it was still about 85 degrees during the day. Even with the A/C and fan running all day, it got way too hot in the tipi and we had to leave. Just typical Texas weather! But it was a beautiful stay. If the price ever drops again, we will definitely be back.
