  • Susan and David left fresh fruit and vegetables, also cheese and yogurt. There were plenty of paper plates, napkins, etc to make eating easy. There were lots of bath products and clean towels. Everything felt like home. This house is so cute and welcoming. There is a wonderful walking trail two doors away. The smart tv was great for relaxing at night. The front porch is welcoming and very pleasant. This house is a short distance to the Ashland Bakery, my favorite place to visit in Ashland! I would definitely recommend this home.

  • Really enjoyed the stay at Susan and David's. The place was everything it said it would be.

  • This is a great deal. See below.

    Don2016-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet neighborhood in walking/biking distance from downtown Ashland coffee shops, pubs, parks, bakery. The house is roomy and eclectic. This is a wonderful place to chillax after the day's excursion. Sit on the veranda and sip a brew or wine, play board games with the family or rediscover a favorite movie DVD. Better yet, jump on one of the complimentary bikes and hit the town for ice cream!

    Kim2016-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Susan and David have created a very cozy inviting home. There are many little touches that warmed my heart. We enjoyed the proximity to downtown and walked along beautiful path by water. We would definitely return.

    Mary Kay2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice place to stay, very clean, very homey. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

    Jason2017-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great and fast communications from our host. Great value, great location for Ashland. Within walking or biking (with provided bikes/helmets) distance to everything in Ashland. The house itself is and older house. If you have lived or visited an older house you will know what to expect. The house is still very well furnished and has a family friendly warmth. Both of our families enjoyed our stay.

Our house less than a mile from Lake Superior and about 1/2 mile from Northland College. Guests describe our home as cozy and reminiscent of visiting their favorite coffee shop. We have 3 bedrooms to offer guests. We have one full bathroom on the second floor and a half bath on the main floor. A portable crib with changer available for infants (30 pounds max). Please note that many of our floors are not refinished yet, but they are clean. We also are replacing baseboards, moldings, and doors.
We invite you to make our home feel like your home! All three of our guest rooms are located on the second floor of our home. The yellow room has a queen sized bed. The room with the patchwork quilt offers a full sized bed. The room with the blue wall has a full sized futon. The full bathroom is also located in the upstairs of our home. We use the bedroom that is located on the main floor of the house, which we do not rent out to guests.
We are located within walking distance of the grocery store and are in close proximity to the downtown. We are a short walk to the start of the Whistlestop Marathon.
  • Staying in this home was perfect! Danielle was a very accommodating host, and a genuine, cool person. She had everything we could possibly need, let alone think of! The house is clean and comfortable. It's so cozy, and I don't think the pictures do it justice! Ashland is a really charming lakeside city with small town spirit. I felt completely safe in Danielle's home and in the neighborhood. Gorgeous views of lake Superior only several blocks from Danielle's -- maybe a couple miles, I'm a city dweller, so I would walk it without thinking of driving. Main street has a host of shops, but I didn't have the time to see much. I would have loved to check out the Black Cat Coffeehouse, though. My first Airbnb experience and I am impressed.

    Madelyn2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle's place was easy to find and totally central. She is an easy going host, very kind and has such a beautiful home. The antique wood furniture, comfy bed (with extra blankets!), claw foot tub and super soft towels made this a delight of a stay. Great price and a great host! We definitely hope to stay again. Meegwetch Danielle!

    Melaina2016-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely welcoming home. I felt comfortable from the moment we checked in. The location is perfect, you can walk to the market, to shops downtown and to the many taverns. Take a stroll to the "purple park' and have your picture taken atop the trestle!!

    Debbie2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle is an excellent hostess! I would definitely stay at her place again. The place is clean, lovely and enjoyed it thoroughly. She made us an amazing breakfast and she pays a lot of attention to details. Highly recommend her place!

  • Danielle was super nice, I would definitely stay here again!

    Deanna2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely one of the best Airbnbs I (and my group) have stayed at. We were first greeted with her dog and led to the comfortable and private bedrooms. Danielle even made sure we got a delicious breakfast each morning. She went above and beyond. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Jeana2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle's passion for what she does was highlighted by her hospitality and accommodation. Her genuine personality made for a very relaxed and enjoyable stay. I would love to come back and I would not hesitate to stay with her again.

    Irina2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle's hospitality and friendliness was outstanding. She is very social minded and made us feel very welcome and at home. She provided a very nice breakfast which was unexpected. She is energetic in remodeling her home and an interesting conversationalist. It was a very comfortable stay.

  • Peter greeted us warmly upon arrival, made sure we what we needed and kindly had bagels, coffee and OJ for us within the apt. There is a small fridge for a few items and the apt. Was also equipped with bathroom tolietries. Great place to stay if you are hiking in the area and would like a more secluded feel.

    Amy2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a great experience we had at Peter's place. The place was clean and comfortable. There was a good view of Lake Superior. It was easy to find and check in was a breeze! Peter made some recommendations that were well worth his advice. Favorite spots were hiking at Myers Beach, Bayfield and Copper Falls. Beautiful!

    Sarah2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Peter was a very responsive and attentive host - contacting me multiple times throughout my stay in order to make sure that everything was going well. The place is quite primitive - small mini-fridge and microwave and very old/worn furniture, but if you are simply looking for a place to lay your head after a day of kayaking, hiking, etc., then this place may be for you.

  • We felt that this was a good value, which was what we were in the market for! Based on the listing and reading reviews, the accommodations were as expected. We brought a lot of food that could just be reheated in the microwave, so we were able to eat most of our meals out on the balcony/ deck. Peter is a very friendly host, and the location was a convenient home base for our weeks adventures.

    Anne2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Peter's place was comfortable, clean, and a great view. Peter was friendly, knowledgeable, and discrete. We will stay there if and when we go back.

  • A very nice place to stay. Nice view of the lake and an easy drive to many area attractions. A peaceful, quiet spot at the end of our days of sightseeing.

  • Had a wonderful stay! Beautiful location, secluded and right on the water but just a short drive to Bayfield. House was clean and comfortable. Excellent communication with Peter. Happy to have had the opportunity to spend the weekend here and look forward to getting to stay here again!

Snowbird - A 31" Silverton Yacht located in the heart of Ashland within walking distance to downtown, parks and many other amenities. A short drive to Bayfield and all of the surrounding attractions. Clean and comfortable with two beds, kitchenette, bathroom, breakfast nook and large back deck to enjoy the water and sunsets. Let me know if you have any questions!
  • This was a great, unique place to stay for our long weekend visiting the area. The location was convenient located in the heart of Ashland, making it a quick drive to Bayfield and other neighboring towns. Josh met us at the dock and was very nice and courteous. He explained the basics of the boat in a quick and complete fashion. It was a nice bonus to have a couple of amenities such as coffee provided to us. Saved us a trip to the store! The marina has newly renovated, clean restrooms and showers that are easily acceptable. I would recommend a stay here, for sure. I know I get tired of the same old boring hotel room. This was certainly not boring. Thanks again, Joshua, and we hope to make it up to the area again very soon!

    Alicia2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay on the boat. It was interesting and fun. It was especially nice to sit on the back deck with a drink in hand and enjoy the view.

  • Josh, Thank you for sharing your wonderful yacht with me. I will highly recommend your yacht to family and friends. Would love to see a cheap clock radio and maybe a nice guest book. Eagerly awaiting to stay again. Thanks Traci

  • THIS IS A BOAT!!! That is something that we kept on reminding ourselves, we underestimated how much different staying overnight on a boat would be. The water had issues an didn't work the night we stayed here.... The hosts were nice and came out right away when we told them it didn't work but they didn't get it fixed. We did make do with the marina facilities, they were nice. It was just inconvenient because we couldn't really use the onboard bathroom because there was no running water... Hopefully that is something they fixed since. The built in lights didn't work either... They said the don't run when the boat is on shore power but at the same time it is the only light source available in the bathroom. Bring an extention cord... Being that it is a boat the wall outlets are not available in the main sleeping area.

    Andrew2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Josh was great at communicating and even suggested fun things to do in the Ashland area. The brewery was great and the location close to Bayfield can't be beat! Fun and unique place to stay. We loved it!

  • This was a great unique place to stay for a great price! Josh was a great host. He had everything taken care of and the boat was clean and ready for us when we got there

    Tom2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic rental and experience!! We had a great time on the boat and our 3 yr old had the best time!! We even caught a few fish off the back in the marina. I would recommend this adventure to anyone looking for a new, fun experience!! Joshua was a great host and we can't wait to go back and do it again!!

  • Jocelyn and her husband were a treat to stay with! Very great hosts that had nice recommendations of local shops and things to do. They made us feel right at home with their cozy home.

    Erica2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay with Jocelyn and family. House was easy to find and very cosy/comfy atmosphere :) About 30 mins from Bayfield. Really enjoyed Ashland.

    Christina2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome in Jocelyn's home. She and Joel gave us a good sense of Ashland and Joel shared suggestions on where to explore. They are a cool family with two dogs.

    Michael2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jocelyn and Joel were very gracious in their welcome. Jocelyn showed me right to my room, made an excellent restaurant recommendation, and was helpful during a city-wide power outage. The room itself was spacious, clean and well-appointed.

    Ric2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a wonderful stay! We felt right at home and the conversation we had seemed just like old (but new) friends. It was an excellent way to start our vacation and would love to stay with you again next time we are in town. Everything was perfect: the bed, the hosts, the homemade raspberry jam, the dog, and even the ginger ale :) - We loved your place and your company! Running into Joel the next morning at the coffee shop was just like it was supposed to happen. Thanks again Jocelyn and (URL HIDDEN) couldn't have been a better stay.

    Chris2014-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great room in a quiet residential area close to the college and a short walk from the main street business strip. Jocelyn was friendly and accommodating, especially when i asked for an umbrella to go for a walk in the rain. She has two friendly dogs, too. For me that was a plus. I would happily stay here again on a future visit.

    Nicholas2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jocelyn probably deserves a higher rating but due to our time constraints, we basically arrived, changed clothes for our event and went back to her place to sleep before heading out at 8:00 a.m. the next morning. So, we didn't have time to visit, etc. We did like that she had a coffee pot in our room so we could have a cup of coffee while getting ready to leave. She has 2 lovely dogs and we never heard a peep out of them after we went to bed. Only comment we had is that the bed was rather soft for our liking..we have a firm mattress at home. Otherwise, no complaints!

    Vicki2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at Jocelyn's house was very nice. They made us feel welcome and at home. The room was as described, clean and neat and there was a breakfast provided for a good start in the day. Both, Jocelyn and her husband Joel were lovely and interesting to talk to. I would recommend their home anytime. I guarantee it's going to be a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Almost 2,500 sq feet of unique, loft-inspired studio space with a nice mix of private sleeping space and larger open space. Perfect for families or couples looking for a unique experience when visiting the Chequamegon Bay Region. Downstairs is a hip new bar with a fun atmosphere and great drinks. • A wonderful time was had by all of our group of gals. We spent two nights over, and explored Bayfield and Madeline Island. We loved the lake view, and had a hard time leaving the house to go exploring as the beauty and peaceful environment was so captivating. Thank you to Jenaye, our gracious host.

    Nancy2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with 4 adults, 1 toddler for a long summer weekend. The setting is perfect for young children--small sandy bottom beach, clear shallow water, great deck for sitting, grilling, visiting. Very quiet, only one neighbor within sight. Very near to Washburn which is a cute town and Bayfield a few more minutes down the road. The home itself is new, common area downstairs is great for a group gathering, could easily have held another couple or more kids. Jenaye was very easy to communicate with, lots of good suggestions for area activities, and left us some AMAZING pastries as a welcome. We absolutely would (and hope to) return.

    Lindsey2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful home set in an equally beautiful setting. It was the perfect vacation rental for our two families with small children. The kids (ages 5 and 3) enjoyed playing on the beach and in the water. Adults enjoyed using the complimentary paddle boat and kayak. Within 20 minutes to Bayfield where we caught the ferry to Madeline Island. In all honesty we could have skipped the island trip since the kids were content at the home beach. Jenaye was a great host who answered all my questions prior to the trip and left us some sweets from the local chocolate shop. We would love to come back in the future!

    Linda2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful lake side home. Love all the modern finishes. There is a sand bar in the lake that allows you to walk the shore for miles...or swim out a few feet more for more depth. Secluded enough, but easy and quick access to town and amenities. Loved the paddle boat and kayak. Photos are accurate. Had a great time. Would definitely stay here again.

Our cozy farmhouse is close to town but in the country, just five minutes from Ashland's best restaurants, twenty miles from Bayfield, the gateway to the Apostle Islands and close access to bike, ATV and snowmobile trails, plus, waterfalls, and beaches. This Farmhouse Retreat is a duplex (Whimsy being the lower apartment). It's inviting, an oh so homey! It's like going to gramma's house... It's great for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.. We provide WIFI but have no TV.
Whimsy is homey, welcoming and very spacious. It was my grandparents home that I visited with my family every Sunday evening. Sunday always held great anticipation as we headed out to Grampa and Gramma's farm. We hope you to will come with great anticipation for a wonderful stay in the country, yet so so close to town. You're welcome to enjoy our sweet farm animals as you sit out in the sun-porch or better yet, take a walk up the drive of our drive and greet our horses, cows, donkeys and chickens.
Enjoy your stay in rural Ashland. Your neighbors may have four legs or two... donkeys, beef cattle, horses, chickens, deer, wild turkeys, coyotes and even bear are all seen regularly by our farmhouse guests.
  • We had a peaceful stay in this quaint duplex in the country. The place is cutely furnished and is in a wonderful location just outside of Ashland. I loved the apple trees outside the window, views of the farm, the book nook, opening the windows to let in the smell of rain and fresh air and how clean and organized the place was. Many thanks to Mark and Kelly for putting together such a cute rental property. There is a great farm-to-table restaurant a mile away and the bakery in Ashland has the best baked goods and bread I've ever had.

Our home is on a quiet rural road one mile off Hwy 13 and Lake Superior. The house is on 8 acres of forested land and ravines.
  • We loved staying at Palma Lodge! The only downside was that we had to leave so soon! Washburn is a cute and cozy town and the Palma's gorgeous yard, woods, and rustic apartment made it feel like a real get-away into nature. We hope to stay again someday!

    Alyse2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Palma Lodge is a premier location to stay in the Bayfield area. Nestled in the Northwoods it is a perfect quiet getaway from everything. We enjoyed star-gazing and the calm and quiet around the cottage...and the chats we had with our hosts Pat & Beth. Beth even called me the morning of our arrival to make sure we knew how to get there and et into the house in case they were still at work. Everything went really smoothly. The Lodge is a 4 minute drive outside of Washburn, 10 minutes to Ashland and 28 minutes to Bayfield. We prepared our own breakfast in the little kitchen, which is equipped with everything you need (fridge, microwave, electric griddle, coffee maker and a sink + towels, detergent, etc.). During the day (end of August) we did different activities: - rented kayaks at the outfitter in Cornucopia (25 minute drive) to go on a full day sea cave tour (destination had to be changed due to 3 foot high waves, so we went to Houghton Falls (close to Washburn) instead, which was very nice as well and we got to paddle into one sea cave - went on a Evening Grand Tour cruise all the way out to Devil's Island and got pristine views of the sea caves in the setting sun, which gave them a nice glow, and watched the sunset over Raspberry Island --> this is a must! - took the ferry to Madeline Island for one evening: most of the attractions and shops were already closed (after 5 pm), but we had a nice dinner at the Pub with a view of the sunset and a drink at Tom's Burned Down Cafe, which was a fun stop as well - visited the berry farms around Bayfield to get blueberries, blackberries and some fresh apple cider We will definitely come back to stay at the Palma Lodge!

  • Fantastic host alert! Beth made us muffins in the morning! [AMAZING] Super cute place, really lovely. Beth and Pat were very welcoming and helpful. 100% recommended!

  • We enjoyed our stay at Palma Lodge! It's a beautiful homestead with a lot of character, well loved and well maintained. The space was very comfortable with a lot of thought put into how to make guests comfortable. It was newly renovated and felt fresh and clean. The hosts were gracious and friendly. They offered basil from their garden and a wooden train set for our daughter to play with. We would stay here again and will recommend it to friends!

    Sara2016-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beth and Pat,s place is a Haven for peace and quietness! Pine smell surrounds the inside and outside, silence reigns! Thanks again !

  • Beth and Pat were perfect hosts! The location is beautiful, and the lodging is great-clean, beautiful, private... Yet Pat and Beth are easily accessible and ready to share ideas and insights about the area if wanted. We would love to stay there again!

  • Beautiful, serene, quiet country location. Beth and Pat were very friendly and accommodating. There were two of us who stayed the weekend, but plenty of room in this spacious rental home for more. We were in the area for an event on Madeline Island. We stayed for two nights and would love to have stayed longer! Short drive to Bayfield and the Ferry. We would highly recommend and will hopefully have an opportunity to return!

This cottage is more like a small house. Air conditioned. Enclosed back porch with french doors. Two bedrooms facing the woods with mature trees. Large side yard with a picnic table, fire pit, and grill. Perfect for a relaxing get away! ***Please note, this bathroom is smaller than average and people with mobility issue may have trouble using it.***
  • Liked the privacy and the fact we could bring our dog.

    Lynette2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I were so happy to call this home base during our trip up north! We were a quick drive away from La Pointe (and then the ferry to Madeline Island!). A highlight of our trip was sea kayaking in the sea caves with Trek & Trail. We loved casting a line by the water just a few steps away from the house and having a cocktail hour on the picnic table outside. We felt lucky to have found this space on such short notice, and would definitely return!

    Hanna2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • It accommodated all of us comfortably. We knew going in the bathroom was small so it wasn't a surprise. We could get to all the places we wanted with short easy drives. I wished there was a rolling butcher block island for prep work. The host responded right away with anything we needed. Plus the water was the softest ever.

  • This is a nice and quiet spot off the road near Lake Superior and close to everything the area has to offer. Katie was helpful and communicative. The cabin is clean and comfortable and a good choice for couples and families visiting northern Wisconsin. It is particularly good for sleeping - comfortable beds and quiet.

  • We had a fun time staying at this place and Steve will provide you with what you need and tell you all the things going on nearby. We will look to stay again on our next visit.

    Merle2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great value and short distance from Bayfield as well as Ashland. The private entry and our own bathroom was a plus. We were out and about during the day and only needed a place to sleep and Steves place met our needs.

    Sandra2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place right off of the main Hwy 13 which makes it really easy to get to the downtown areas of Ashland, Washburn and Bayfield. You have to whole first floor that yourself with access to the hot tub and the artisan well in the back. Steve is super helpful and accommodating. He was very knowledgeable about the surroundings area and is a great resource for places to eat or things to do during your stay. Get some ideas in advance. If you are visiting on the weekend Bayfield especially can get busy so you'll want reservations. Most other places are over priced and book up quickly due to the amount of tourism, but this is a great value especially since it includes a great host.

This is a quiet street, with kind neighbors. It is located within walking distance of the downtown, a very short drive of the lakeshore!
  • Washburn is a great community and is close to Bayfield and Madeline Island, Kim's house was clean and comfortable! Checking in was a breeze and we were able to check in as early as we needed! Kim and her cohost, Lily, responded to all my messages quickly as it was my first time renting an airbnb, they were very helpful.

The place is close to great food, the lake, the city center, parks, art galleries, culture, and public transportation. You’ll love it and not only because of the wonderful energy. As a heads up, WE DO NOT PROVIDE LINENS. Bring your own bedding and towels :)
  • This is an economical place to stay close to downtown Washburn. You must have a flexible schedule as activities continue during your visit. Bring your own bedding and linens. You sleep on two futons, a bench or on the floor. We found the kitchen quite handy. Thanks for sharing the meditation center with us.

  • Jodi's place is a fantastic choice for people who are looking for an economical option. The place is centrally located, spacious, well furnished, and has an excellent kitchen. There are three shower stalls, and two bathrooms - making it a great option if you are traveling in a group of three or more. We did not have any problems during our stay, and things were definitely better than I had expected!

  • Our stay at the meditation center was great. We were primarily exploring the Apostle Islands during our stay here. Communication with the host was thorough and prompt, and the experience turned out to be even better than I expected! Futons were comfortable to sleep on and the space was spacious and clean. Kitchen was well equipped. The two shower stalls and two toilets were a plus since there were four of us :) Would absolutely recommend and would stay here again.

  • We enjoyed staying in Washburn; although less touristy than Bayfield it is an interesting & historic town in a great location for seeing Lake Superior. Colene is a super hostess who makes good recommendations about the area. It was beautifully quiet, and the bed was super comfortable!

  • Colene made the check-in process easy and informative. Our room was located in an area which was in a different part of the house from her residence. We could easily come and go as we pleased. Colene was a wealth of information about cool things to do in the area. She was a very intuitive host and only shared when we asked or indicated some sort of curiosity. It was a wonderful respite and we will be excited to vacation there again soon. I would recommend the place highly and its most prominent features were quiet stay, access to local shops within walking distance, and an owner with a great spirit!

My place is close to Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands It is located 2 miles north of Washburn or 8 miles south of Bayfield. Peaceful country setting, the long house is a freshly remodeled mobile home.
I created this space with multiple travelers in mind, the 2 bedrooms, consisting of 2 double beds each are located on either end of the building with 2 vanity sinks and a shower/bathroom between. There are 2 covered porches on either side. There is a small firepit available with seating. i do not provide firewood but it can be purchased at the local park. There are no street lights around, it is dark at night, star gazing can be incredible along with northern lights. The space was designed for summer use only but there are a couple electric radiators in each bedroom for the chilly mornings and evenings early and late in the season. The space is very well insulated, it is approximately 750 sq ft

My place is 3.5 miles from town with restaurants and store. There are many activities in the area with Lake Superior, trails, beaches, the Madeline Island ferry, and Bayfield shops. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (pets).
Guaranteed European hospitality! We try everything we can to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Cozy and small, what looks like a total hermit spot, is actually just off our driveway deeper into the woods. Prepare to be "off the grid" for wi-fi and cell reception (AT&T works perfect, others have some problems being connected). Super private, surrounded by tall trees, no traffic and no disturbance but for the bird song and squirrels quibbling. A living space with kitchenette (no stove, yes microwave and fridge), bedroom and bathroom with shower/toilet. In-floor super cozy heat. Small fenced in deck with dog yard, doggie door is there. We love to have your furry family members around, but please do not plan to leave them behind unattended! Guests love the quiet here, writers found their inspiration, business people their peace. It is a good place to recharge away from it all! Please note, our property is NOT suitable for hunters.
Forest, agricultural and cabins. Closest neighbor is half a mile away. But we have four units on our property, and sound travels far in the quiet of the forest.
  • Beautiful quiet space, nice and secluded, yet, close to a cute town. Marieke was always on hand if we needed anything and was on top of everything. Perfect spot to go relax and get away from the busy city.

  • The Cabin was perfect for our needs. It was super clean and homey and Marieke was very nice. She confirmed that we had arrived and found the place easily. It would not have been all that simple to find with out her complete instructions. My only comment is that the only cooking appliances area microwave and coffee pot. We were in town for the Whistlestop Marathon and were planning on cooking dinner the night before. fortunately, we planned pasta which we were able to cook in the microwave after we got a larger bowl at the Walmart. That aside, we were very comfortable and would consider staying there again should we come for another visit!

    Rebecca2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend so we could explore the Ashland, Washburn, and Bayfield areas. It definitely was a cozy little space. There were a few minor things we wish we would have known before our stay, such as the small hot water tank making for quick showers, and the lack of a stove. Overall, the place had all of the basic necessities for a woodsy, inexpensive weekend. There was no cell reception or internet, and this added to the enjoyment of our stay to truly be able to unplug. We did have a hotspot if we needed to find something or contact someone, which could be important in emergency situations. Overall, we had a nice experience. Marieke was a kind and welcoming host! Thanks for the nice stay!

A clean and cozy bedroom with adjacent personal bathroom. Breakfasts were health promoting, very tasty and from Jacki's garden or local farms, above expectations!

  • Our stay in The Loft was absolutely wonderful! Jackie was a wonderful host. We had more privacy than we have ever had at any other hotel or bed and breakfast. The deck off of the room was perfect for enjoying a glass of wine on a nice summer night. The location was great as well - a few minute drive to Washburn and about 10-15 minutes to Bayfield. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area. Oh yeah! Jackie's breakfast is absolutely wonderful!

My country home is central to all sorts of outdoor activities. Bird watching, hiking, biking, and running are right out the front door. Lake Superior & inland fishing, the Apostle Islands and Bayfield Apple Fest. Winter has skiing, ice fishing & Sea Caves! Restaurants and bars are a scenic drive away. Great outdoor spaces, a warm gas fireplace, well equipped kitchen, and friendly pets! Great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers and small families.
Nothing fancy, but quiet and comfortable. Centered on 40 acres with a trout stream, several wetlands, great vistas, and a trail network. This 1940's home has two Sears Roebuck barns that have seen better days and a wood-fired sauna in the converted milk house. In summer, fall to sleep by the calls of frogs and toads, and wake to the songs of birds!
This is a very quiet and rural setting. Silent sport recreation is encouraged on the property, but it can also be a great jumping off point for your outdoor adventures throughout northern Wisconsin. Fishing on Chequamegon Bay and the many inland lakes is very popular, as is hiking, kayaking, canoeing, waterfalling, or strolling along the many Lake Superior beaches..
  • Tom's place was great for me and the price was perfect for my budget! It was farther out of Ashland than I anticipated, however, on the north end of town close to Washburn and Bayfield where I spent most of my time, Tom was an interesting person to talk with and generous in providing fruit, coffee, juice and toast for breakfast. The shared bathroom was no problem as the other guests were on a different schedule from me and our paths never crossed. I would definitely return to his place if I came back to this area. Mariana

  • Tom is a great host, even when our road trip was longer than expected he accommodated his schedule to our itinerary and was there to welcoming us. He has a great, cozy and very charming house in the middle of the nature. He lives about 30 minutes from Apostle Islands so it's a very good option if you want to go there. He also provided everything we needed for breakfast and he has two beautiful pets that are very charming and well behaved. Tom also knows very good the area, we were a little bit lost in our trip to the islands and he helped us to organize better our trip and gave us very good advices for everything you must see there. I totally recommend Tom!

  • This home is in a country setting with total peace of mind. We saw a giant bald eagle on one of the forest roads. Tom knows the ecology and habitat of the area. Great host.

  • So the weekend started with us being SUPER late getting to Toms's house (like almost 1am) and when we got there the power had just gone out. They had a pretty rough storm just pass through a few minutes prior and keep in mind that this was our first time using airbnb... we were both thinking this cabin in the woods was going to end up like your stereotypical horror film. But Tom never missed a beat and made us feel comfortable right away. The room was clean and in the morning it was amazing to wake up to birds singing and complete silence. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning to come back this winter and bring snowmobiles and possibly another couple to stay in his other bedroom. If you need to escape from the city for a few days I would definitely recommend Toms place :)

    EmmaLeigh2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't get to spend much time at Tom's house but from what I saw it was very nice. Cozy house, large/secluded property. If youre looking for quiet, country feel this is the place. We are possibly going to be in the area later this year and would definitely consider staying there again.

    Jessica2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Tom is an awesome host! Very accommodating and welcoming! It was the perfect location in between The Apostle Islands and Duluth.

  • This quiet little cabin tucked into the woods was the perfect base camp for our weekend exploring Washburn, Ashland, and Bayfield. Tom is a great host, knowledgeable about the local culture.

    sally2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tom was a warm, friendly and accommodating host. We appreciated the cleanliness of his home and his knowledge of the area. His home is situated just far enough from town to feel secluded, but close enough to be convenient. We would most definitely recommend Tom's place to anyone traveling in the Ashland area.

Explore thousands of acres of the Bayfield County Forest and enjoy endless miles of exceptionally maintained non-motorized recreational trails. The yurt has direct access to CAMBA mountain bike trails and Mt. Ashwabay ski trails. The landscape is also spectacular. Take in the panoramic views of Lake Superior and the Onion River valley. This is a rustic, minimally maintained yurt set in the middle of the county forest, so come prepared to relax, unwind and explore the wonders of the north woods.
This yurt is nestled in the Bayfield County Forest and is only accessible by foot, snowshoe, ski, or bike. Our yurts are 20 feet in diameter and insulated for year round use, complete with woodstove. Fire wood is provided only for heating with the woodstove. The yurt comes equipped with 2 bunk beds; a full mattress on the bottom and a twin mattress on top and sleeps up to 6 people. No linens or pillows are provided, so be sure to pack your sleeping bag. A picnic table is also located inside the yurt. Outside the yurt we have a bear proof box to store all your food, along with a deck, picnic table, fire ring, and outhouse. This is bear country and the yurts are made out of fabric. Please use the box to store all food and never leave food inside the yurt. A rundown of the basics: Bathrooms: the yurt does not have indoor plumbing, nor access to water, but is located near a pit toilet/outhouse, which is available year-round. Capacity: Can sleep up to 6 people. Additional overnight guests are not allowed. Accessibility: Only accessible by foot, snowshoe, ski, or bike. No motorized vehicles, of any kind, are allowed. The hike in is about 2/3 of a mile, up hill nearly the entire way. There are steep stretches, so please take your time and plan accordingly. Cooking: All yurts have a picnic table and fire ring with grill grate for outdoor cooking, and a bear proof locker for secure outdoor food storage. No candles, or other open flames are allowed inside the yurt. Cooking is permitted in the yurt only during the winter (on top of the metal hot plate). Extra caution must be used when cooking inside the yurt. Electricity: no access to power. Water: no running water or direct/immediate access to water. Prepare accordingly. Closest water sources would be the ski chalet at Mt. Ashwabay, Lake Superior (must be filtered), or the cities of Washburn or Bayfield. Heat: Yurts have a wood stove for heat. Split firewood is provided for use in the woodstove only. Matches, lighters or other ignition sources are not provided, so please plan accordingly. Firewood: Wood will be provided for the wood stove which heats the yurt. Dead and down wood can be collected from the surrounding forest for use in the fire ring. A bow saw and axe are also provided. Pets: no pets allowed within the yurt or on the premises. No exceptions. Smoking: no smoking within the yurt. If you do smoke outside, please discard butts in the fire ring.
The yurt is roughly located in between the cities of Washburn (about 9 miles to the south, from the yurt parking lot) and Bayfield (about 7 miles to the north). Both locations contain gas stations, a grocery store, numerous restaurants and other quaint shops. The city of Ashland is located about 10 miles south of Washburn. The yurt is also in close proximity to numerous outstanding public Lake Superior beaches. Access to the Sioux River Beach (North - Bayview) is approximately 2 miles to the south of Whiting Road. Access to the Sioux River Beach (south - across from Friendly Valley Road) is another mile south of the northern access. These beautiful sandy beaches connect and provide about 1.5 miles of Lake Superior access, with unbelievable views of Madeline and Long islands. This yurt is also located just over the hill from Big Top Chautauqua (about 1 mile to the east). Shows run from around the middle of June through the middle of September. Check their website for schedules. The Mt. Ashwabay ski hill is also located about 1 mile to the east of the yurt (same general area as Big Top). Access to all of the cross-country ski trails is included as part of your stay, but use of the ski hill is not. The ski hill provides plenty of downhill skiing, as well as sledding opportunities. They also rent skis, snowboards and snowshoes. Bayfield County contains more public forest land than any other county in the state of Wisconsin. Nearly 172,000 acres of Bayfield County Forest land, about 273,000 acres of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, approximately 27,000 acres of state owned lands, roughly 6,000 acres of Parks Service lands and around 8,000 acres of other municipal owned lands. In total, about 51% of Bayfield County, almost 500,000 acres of land, is in public ownership. The opportunities to explore and recreate are almost endless.
  • A special place and unique experience. Glad I read the reviews beforehand re: the uphill hike.

    Andy2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place! Hard to come up with any praise that hasn't been stated in other reviews. If you're interested in a beautiful setting, complete privacy and a well-designed yurt, this is the place to go. The attention to the little details is impressive. No running water, no electricity and a bit of a walk up a hill, so it may not be the spot for everyone. But, you're comfortable without running water or electricity for a few days, the yurt between Washburn and Bayfield is perfect.

    Edith2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks! Great Idea Bayfield County! The location was great. Great access for skiing. Woodstove did a great job keeping the space warm in single digits. Floor is insulated and holds the heat. Well done. Can't wait to check out the other yurt!

A Place on the Lake Enjoy Lake Superior while being only two miles from downtown LaPointe. The unit is a lower level walkout to a patio and has two bedrooms, one large bathroom, a living room and kitchenette with microwave, crock pot, toaster, electric fry pan, coffee pot but no oven or top burners. There is a two burner gas grill. You are just steps away from swimming or sunbathing on the large dock and enjoying the beautiful views of the lake.
This unit is suitable for 4 adults or a family of 5.
  • Carol made it easy to check-in, and even had chocolate chip cookies for us upon arrival. The location is beautiful, right on the water, with a dock and a fire pit. The kitchenette isn't big, but we found it easy to cook what we needed. The location is an easy drive to La Pointe or to beaches. We found the hosts extremely accommodating and helpful, and would highly recommend. Note you are essentially sharing a house, as this is the lower level- but this was not a problem.

  • Carol was an absolutely wonderful host. She went above and beyond to make our stay great. Her cabin is right on the lake with a beautiful dock to hang out on. The island itself is a great place to spend a relaxing weekend and enjoy some hiking in the parks. I look forward to hopefully being able to stay here again!

  • Fabulous!!! Carol and Neil were above and beyond the perfect hosts. Their home is beautiful, clean, conveniently located with an incredible view of additional Apostle Islands. Their home easily accommodates 8 people--there were 5 of us. They treated my children as their own. They live upstairs and were available to answer questions and offer ideas.

    Cassie2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay on Madeline Island! It's easy to find, very comfortable and Carol is a very gracious host. The beds are very comfy and having dish TV was great for my children. The only thing missing is a stove/oven for cooking dinner. We enjoyed ourselves!

    Jaime2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Carol was a wonderful host who was filled with suggestions for things to do on the island. Beautiful gorgeous view. Only sad thing was that it was super windy so we couldn't do a bonfire. But the bonfire area was beautiful. Loved our stay! Big thanks to Carol and Neil for being so accommodating!

  • Carol was a fantastic host! She was very kind and helpful! She told us about a local pizza place right in town and we knew we had to try it! It was fantastic! Definitely will be going there again. Her home is beautiful!! I would recommend her place to any of my friends and family in a heartbeat.

Our Fishermen's Wharf room was inspired by our family history in the commercial fishing industry dating back to the late 1800s and of course by the amazing view of lake superior which the Wharf room overlooks! Enjoy the peaceful cool lake colors and beautiful boat pictures by Austin Miller Studios.
The Bed and Breakfast is located just 3 miles south of Bayfield. We live towards the top of Ski Hill Road by Big Top Chautauqua, Mt. Ashwabay, and the CAMBA (Chequamegon Area Mountain Biking Association) mountain biking trails. It's a peaceful forest get-away with an amazing view of Lake Superior and Pikes Valley that's just the right amount of secluded. Far enough away to be quiet but close enough to get to Bayfield within 5 minutes.
  • A hidden gem tucked atop the hillside over looking nature and Lake Superior. Recently finished (June 2017) the have planned everything down to the last detail. Everything is brand new and top of the line. This is a great retreat and just outside of the city to enjoy nature and get away from hustle and bustle (exactly what we were looking for) the rooms are spacious and furnished with everything you need including basic toiletries, only thing not in our room was a TV. Anna was a gracious host and her baked goods were delicious. We didn't indulge in her breakfast but the option is there. Coffee and water are complementary and available in the Great Room (common area) along with books about Bayfield and games. Very close to downtown Bayfield and 30 minutes to Cornucopia- where Meyers Beach is for Sea Cave Kayaking. Book this, I promise you won't be disappointed.

    Brittany2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Timber Baron B&B offers a wonderful large room with an even better view. Located about 6 minutes away from Bayfield (and less then 2 minutes away from The Big Top) it was in the perfect location to get away from the busyness of the town. We stayed in the Fisherman's Wharf room which overlooked the rolling hills and Lake Superior in the distance. Good Parking, large common room, local area brochures, and games available to borrow. Anna's cookies were some of the best :) I would most definitely recommend this B&B for any couples visiting the area.

    holly2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's house is beautiful! A secluded cabin in the woods, far enough away from the road to sit outside & hear nothing but nature, but still a short drive to Bayfield. The room was incredibly clean, the bed was perfectly soft, the shower was great, the towels were fluffy, and having a temperature-controlled AC/heat unit was a great touch. Overall we can't say enough positive things about our stay! (By the way, Anna's baking skills are PHENOMENAL!)

    Rachael2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful time during my trip to Bayfield and during my stay at the Timber Baron Lodge - it was restful, quiet and enjoyable. The Lodge is thoroughly modern, with appreciated special touches and I would recommend Anna, David and the Lodge to anyone! Hopefully I'll be back soon. One seemingly small amenity I appreciated: USB ports built into the bed's headboard! In our world where most people carry multiple electronic devices, it was convenient for charging my phone and iPad. Cheers, Rick

    Rick2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great! The rooms and view are beautiful. Our bed was comfortable and the shower was enjoyable. The one place for improvement would be in privacy in terms of noise. We did not stay with any noisy neighbors but we were able to hear any and all (URL HIDDEN) husband and I felt that we needed to talk very quiet almost if we did not want others to hear us. The hosts were kind and helpful. Anna's cookies we a nice perk.

    Lisa2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Anna's place. Great quiet location up in the forested hills overlooking the valley and lake in the distance but only a short drive from downtown Bayfield. I enjoyed the fire pit where we sat by the fire on a cool evening. Very clean amenities. I would stay again.

    Tom2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to stay, I would definitely come again!! So beautiful. Anna is also a fantastic cook!

  • We had a great stay! The view is amazing, the food was delicious, the room was very well decorated, the bed was comfortable, and the hosts were great! We even had a bonfire one night. Would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the Bayfield area.
