Antonito Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Antonito

This small, rustic cabin has it all under one roof. A queen sized bed, kitchenette, wood burning stove and a small bathroom with a shower and stool. It is the perfect place to relax after a day of hiking up to Zapata Falls, climbing Mt Blanca or maybe a much needed upgrade from the hard bumpy ground of the local campsite. We'll be glad to supply coffee and some farm fresh eggs, but it's up to you to cook them up!
The well water in the valley is packed full of minerals. It is great for bathing but we drink bottled water (provided) and recommend you do the same. Also, the hot water heater works GREAT! Use caution because the hot water is extremely HOT!
The Lucky Little Dog is easy to find because it is just off Highway 17 but it is sheltered from any highway traffic (and noise) by the Lucky Dog Lodge. It is 7 miles North of Alamosa and it is a 14 minute drive to the San Luis Valley Regional Airport and 13 minutes to Adams State University. We are 7 miles South of the Sand Dunes access road and it takes about 25 minutes to drive to The Great Sand Dunes Park and Preserve.
  • Lucky Little Dog was the perfect spot to relax after a long day of travel. The cabin was clean, cozy, and stocked with fruit, fresh eggs, and snacks for the next day's hike. The accommodations were great, but what really made our stay special was getting to know Wendy and her family. She and her mom went above and beyond to get to know us and make us feel welcome. Gathering eggs from the coop was definitely a highlight, as well as playing with Wendy's rescue pups. We would absolutely recommend booking Lucky Little Dog and would love to stay again!

  • Wonderful, spacious cabin 20 minutes from the Sand Dunes. It was clean and provided everything we needed as we cooked two meals there. Wendy is great! Provided snacks, breakfast items including farm fresh eggs, toiletries, bottled water, and even personalized it to our preferences! Highly highly recommend. We hope to be back.

  • I've stayed in probably 15 Airbnb's, but I have to say that Wendy's was the nicest experience I've had to date! She went above and beyond with everything, leaving us a wonderful gift basket full off all kinds of goodies, as well as having a partially stocked fridge and pantry--even with eggs from her own chickens! My girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience and can't wait to return again.

    Steven2017-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at The Lucky Dog cabin. It was a really nice size for my boyfriend and I. The place is so clean, awesome and really neat. It has more than you can hope for as far as being stocked. The cabin is about 10 minutes from town and 30 minutes from the dunes. Wendy and Bob are so welcoming and friendly, we hope to go back and stay at this place again soon. They made us feel like friends, not just guests. Wendy is excellent at communication and she has great recommendations for food and places to go in the area. Baxter and Elsa were also awesome fur ambassadors for the property. We loved it so much here!

    Kristina2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy really makes this place great. The little touches go a long way-- she had fresh fruit ready for me, and brought me a book she thought I'd enjoy. This was the perfect pit stop for me after a long drive from Denver!

    Eliza2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Lucky Little Dog cabin could not have been any better! The place had everything we needed and more. It was comfy, cozy, and clean. Wendy's communication was spot on, and she made us feel so welcomed. We spent hours hiking the Great Sand Dunes National Park, followed by Wendy's perfect recommendation of soaking at the Sand Dunes Hot Springs Pool. Fantastic all around! We will be recommending to friends for sure!

    Katie2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • I can't imagine a better place to stay for anyone looking to explore the Sand Dunes National Park and surrounding areas! The cabin exceeded my expectations and Wendy went out of her way to make sure my stay was as comfortable and inviting as possible. The space was clean, well stocked, perfectly located and quiet - the perfect getaway in beautiful setting! I look forward to coming back someday soon.

    Lacey2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy's place was fantastic, and she even had great tips for places nearby to check out after visiting the dunes. The surrounding landscape was insanely beautiful, I highly recommend catching a sunrise from the table outside!

Stay overnight in your own cute cottage. Right in the heart of downtown Alamosa, close to shopping, restaurants, and more. Make Alamosa your basecamp for visiting the Great Sand Dunes or riding the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad. The single bedroom has a comfy queen bed and the living room has a futon that could sleep two children or one adult. Make your own meals when you bring your own food to the kitchen fully stocked with cookware, plates, and utensils.
The cottage is small, but cozy. A perfect size for couples or families with small children. Bathroom is good - sized and recently remodeled. The kitchen is perfect for cooking any meal. For the warmer months during the summer there is an evaporative air cooler available.
  • Loved it!!

    Pam2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Prompt and easy communication, extremely tidy and quaint cottage, perfect location, couldn't ask for more! It's so nice to be able to support our local economy by renting from people and not corporations. I highly recommend Jamie and Scott's property for short or long-term stays. Just awesome!

    Marisa2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a really wonderful place to stay. It was extremely clean, welcoming, and comfortable. Jamie was really helpful and showed us around the house once we arrived. Would highly recommend this Airbnb - it's an easy 30-40 min drive to the Great Sand Dunes National Park.

    Herman2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Scott and Jamie have a very well-appointed, comfortable cottage on the outskirts of downtown. You can easily walk to dinner downtown (we did) and just enjoy the Main Street area. It's really quite a relaxing place. The bed is very comfortable and the shower has enough water pressure, you won't want it to stop. There are extra towels, blankets, and pillows. They even have shampoo and soap in case you forgot yours. There were full ice trays in the freezer with a bin to dump them in. And there were water bottles in the fridge. There was coffee, filters, creamer, and of course, a coffee pot. Parking is right next to the cottage with easy access to the kitchen door for loading and unloading. All in all, they've got a really sweet setup. One thing to pay attention to is the directions provided. Main Street is one-way west-bound, so you'll need to go one block further than your GPS tells you to. Follow the host's directions and you should be good to go.

  • Within easy walking distance of best restaurants in Alamosa and just down the street from Walgreen's/Safeway. I loved it that I didn't have to carry luggage very far -- it's so much easier to stay here than at a hotel. Facility is very clean. We enjoyed our stay.

    Harold2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable, super clean and comfortable place to stay. Nice and roomy, easy to walk to several businesses and restaurants. Friendly hostess.

    Sherri2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, comfortable and clean with close proximity to restaurants and grocery stores and "great sand dunes n.p.". Using Jamie's kitchen is a pleasure as it is well stocked with all utensils. It was a pleasure staying here.

    valerie2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first airbnb experience and it was even better than I had hoped. It is evident that Jamie has put a lot of work into making this a great place to stay. Clean, comfortable and convenient! My son and I especially enjoyed playing the Clue and Go Fish games that Jamie thoughtfully provided in the apartment.

  • It was very nice to stay with Laura who is a great host. We had a huge space for ourselves with all commodities. We totally recommend this place! Thank you again Laura.

    marion2016-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in a quiet neighborhood. We stayed while visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park (in winter) and it was the perfect spot for a warm night. Check in was super easy and Laura was incredibly responsive and helpful! She also has a dog who was very calm & sweet. Would stay again!

    Deirdre2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were given a whole shelf in the fridge so we could easily make breakfast and store our leftovers.

    Beatrice2016-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great host and place!

    Jay2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • It is very close to downtown. It is a lovely place. The upstairs is spacious, but the room is without a door.

    Haley2017-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We just needed something close to the sand dunes. We got so much more! Checking in was a breeze! We didn't know what time, so Laura told us how to let ourselves right in. Everything was clean and welcoming. The loft is very spacious and cozy. We walked 2 blocks out the front door for drinks and dinner. Great place, great location, sweetest host ever! We will be back to see laura and Molly!

    Kristen claire2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Laura's place was a lovely and unique space to rest our bones after our adventures in the region brought us through Alamosa. Our interactions with Laura, truly genuine, welcoming, and accommodating, were icing on the cake of our stay! We'll surely be back whenever we pass back through Alamosa!

    Dina2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Laura's place is lovely! She was very accommodating when we arrived sooner than anticipated, and gracious and wonderful throughout our stay. There was a nice array of tea waiting for us, plus Molly is the sweetest dog. Definitely recommend staying here if you're going to the Dunes or passing through!

Enjoy splendid isolation: you're the only guest on 6 acres of hills & forests. Sleep inside ..... the modern micro cabin; stream movies on the web; cook a gourmet meal in your fully equipped kitchen. Or sleep outside.... in the traditional Sioux Tipi, after an outdoor grilled BBQ. Your property shares a border with vast public lands: national forests, wild rivers, endless mesas. Hike or bike to them directly from your cabin, never crossing private property.
Your micro cabin has hot showers, toilet, a full kitchen (fridge/ freezer, microwave & toaster ovens, hot plate, cookware, etc), and WIFI (fast enough for NETFLIX, etc). Your patio has a large BBQ grill; propane is provided free of charge. Your micro cabin is heated with an electric heater in the winter. Your brand new futon folds out into a comfortable bed. Or sleep in the tipi (also equipped with a mattress big enough for two). Help yourself to coffee and tea. Clean linen, dishes, and blankets are provided.
  • My daughter and I had fantastic time! The accommodations were great and Brady made sure everything was perfect. I highly recommend staying here and I look forward to going back!

    Jacob2016-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Brady is an amazing host with the most view. The pictures do no justice ,, we would recommend anyone to this beautiful cabin. Family , couples, friends it's the perfect get away. Spending the whole weekend with his dog jake was amazing and made everyone feel safe at night. Thank you !

    Andrea2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Brady's cabin, it was a beautiful and peaceful (URL HIDDEN) was so relaxing we had a hard time leaving to go do any of our planned activities. The cabin was super cozy and I loved being able to lay in bed and watch all the stars out the huge window, and then watch all the birds in the morning. The shower was surprisingly big for such a tiny space and it was very nice. We hiked the nearby San Cristobal trail and had a great day. We got to visit with Brady and he is a fun, energetic, and genuine person to talk to. I only wish we had more time there! Would definitely go back.

    Gina2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Really cozy stay in a beautiful NM setting. The micro cabin has everything you need and is close to Taos and all the mountain activities you could ever want!

    Rosalee 2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Brady was an amazing host. We did a very last minute booking, and he was so accommodating. He quickly responded to questions and went above and beyond to ensure we had clear driving directions and information for our stay. He even offered to give us hiking information and to make himself available if anything came up. The place was clean, cozy, and well organized and just as advertised. It's very convenient to Taos, Questa, and Red River. We felt off the grid but also had wifi. It has all the amenities of a bigger place with the tiny house experience. Highly recommended!

    Christine2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed this tiny tidy home for the weekend! Can't wait to visit again in the summer to sleep in the tipi. Beautiful sunsets and yummy meals (we cooked in the kitchen)

    Dana2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Everything as advertised. Great space, clean, friendly host.

    Brendan2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place to stay at. The micro-unit is cozy with plenty of room and the tipi is a perfect place for a mid-afternoon nap. The trail that borders the property takes you to the top of the hill which gives one the opportunity to get some more amazing views. We will be staying here again!

This 1911 home, built for a dairy farm, is peaceful and quiet: rural neighborhood, very nice yard and patio, great night sky views. • Dennis and Holly provided a delightful experience for our first time with air bnb. We enjoyed their company and their animal family.

  • Details on listing were accurate. Had a nice overnight. Enjoyed conversations with hosts.

    Danielle2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Holden House is an amazing place to stay. It provides a glimpse of true country life; sparse neighbors, very quiet surroundings, peaceful patio to sit and enjoy the mountains, sky, birds, and above all the quiet. The room was very comfortable and clean; did I mention quiet? I slept so well! The refrigerator and pantry were full of good food, and the access to the kitchen at any time to make my own meals was relaxing because I did not have to adhere to a schedule. The cold-pressed coffee- Awesome! Dennis and Holly were the perfect hosts and we had good conversations about world events and affairs that could have gone all night; very accommodating. This is not a place for the white leather and marble floor types. This is an early 1900's house with history, character, gorgeous antiques, wood floors, etc. right down to the chickens and cats that are outside. The town of Alamosa is a few miles away, so it is a short drive to restaurants, stores, and nightlife. The view of Mt. Blanca and the Sangre de Christo Mountain range filtered through the trees around the yard is a beautiful sight, and they seem within touch. Definitely one of my favorites.

    Robert2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend Dennis and Holly's home! It is the perfect place to stay. We hold our experience here as the gold standard in Airbnb. The home and room are charming and clean. The price is just right. Beautiful yard with tall trees, you can also see the rolling Great Sand Dunes Ntl Park from the yard, and the perfect patio for coffee, conversation, or pondering about life. Dennis and Holly are extremely hospitable, and they accommodate their guests without fuss. We brought our 5 yr old daughter and Dennis and Holly treated her so kindly. We highly recommend staying here, and plan on returning when we get the chance!

    Jordan & Colbi2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Dennis was on his own for our visit as Holly was out of town at a writer's conference, but he rose to the occasion superbly, and we found him to be a very gracious host. Kudos also for a very quick response on a same-day reservation made via phone on a trip for us that was planned only hours in advance on a day-to-day basis. Dennis' place is a couple of miles out of town east (toward the Great Sand Dunes entrance) and is very rural and quiet. Views of the stars at night were amazing for us east coast residents. The facilities are as advertised and very pleasant, We enjoyed our stay and got a good early start for the Dunes the next morning for some outstanding morning-light photography.

    Ray 2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We reached pretty late in the night but they were amazing in cooperating with us and we loved their house. They have a super cute cat and a beautifully decorated house. While you might think the house is secluded, don't worry about it at all. It's perfectly safe and we had no issues at all. Sadly we had to leave early morning and couldn't meet both if them. Maybe next time!

  • Dennis and Holly were fantastic hosts! We arrived pretty late at night, but they had lights on their fence so it was very easy to find. As soon as we parked in their driveway, we were greeted outside so we had no doubt we were at the right place. We really appreciated the stash of water bottles they provided since 1. We were thirsty and 2. The tap water had a slightly different taste than what we were used to. Their cat was very friendly and in the morning we made a delightful breakfast with the resources Dennis and Holly provided us. A great place to stay and highly recommended!

  • Very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.

    Lisa2017-08-12T00:00:00Z

  • Interesting older house nicely refurbished, very nice hosts, even a friendly cat. Quiet, clean, very nice.

  • Dennis and Holly were wonderful hosts! We booked the room the same day of our stay, just a few hours before check-in and they were so accommodating despite our short notice. Their room was nice and cozy and everything in the house was labeled so we could find it all easily. Dennis and Holly waited up for us after we got to their place late at night and greeted us warmly. They gave us a quick tour of the house and made sure we got in ok, which was so nice. In the morning, we sat and ate breakfast with them and had a great conversation. Holly showed us around their beautiful property. It was so nice to stay with them, and we will definitely stay again if we ever head back to the Sand Dunes (which were an easy drive from their place.) I highly recommend Dennis and Holly and their wonderful home!

  • Dennis and Holly were fantastic hosts; despite our last-minute booking, they welcomed us in and made us feel at home. Their home was clean and the kitchen was well-equipped, including their fresh eggs they shared with us for breakfast. They also provided some much-needed herbal tea for Katie's sore throat. Our stay was excellent and we would definitely stay with Dennis and Holly again.

  • This AirBnB is amazing. Hosts are very accommodating and can give you some good tips about different locations in Alamosa. The house is located of a beaten track, so you can get a little country feeling. The sky at night is full of stars and if the weather is good you can even see Milky Way. At the front porch in the morning hummingbirds can be spotted. The room was clean and equiped with simple desk. The coffee and cereals in the morning are a nice addition not so offen occurring in todays AirBnB's. I would love to stay there at some point in the future.

  • This was the best airbnb we have ever stayed at. Wendy is incredibly friendly (and interesting!), and her two pups are darling. She also made sure we had everything we needed. The room and the whole house in general was very clean and unique. We would love to stay here again sometime in the future!

  • Unfortunately my car broke down before I could reach Wendy's place. Wendy was quick to get back to me and most concerned about my well being and offered to let me stay a different night when she had availability. She has been kind and considerate throughout the process and her communication was always prompt. I hope I get to meet and stay with her!

  • Wendy and Bob have been such nice and kind hosts ! They are so welcoming and share everything. They live in a cosy wooden original house next to the great sand dunes. They have 2 adorable dogs. We would definitely recommend the place and particularly the extraordinary hosts. This has been our best airbnb experience so far !!!

  • Wendy and her family are great hosts! Comfortable bed, just as described. I felt at home from the moment I drove up. Friendly, welcoming, peaceful and inviting. It was a relaxed "join in the family thing" experience from the casual breakfast to fun porch visiting w/ friends to sharing an aromatic bowl of chili on my last evening. Thank you for a great stay!

  • This place is a little off the beaten path, but so worth it! The views of the elk preserve are unspoiled, yet you're still less than 10 minutes from the town of Chama and the Cumbres & Toltec RR station. Perfect place to stay before and after a day on the train. Not only were Jerry and Judy very friendly and helpful, they served us a delicious breakfast, too! And even invited us to sit at their dining table to eat our grilled hamburgers when it got too dark and cold to eat outside. Highly recommended Air B&B.

    Karen2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Judy and Jerry are terrific and wonderful hosts. The place is fantastic, quiet and secluded. Deer and elk walk through the yard. We had 3 kids with us 12, 10, and a new born. Jerry setup a fire to make smores for the older kids, Judy played with the baby. We all had a fantastic time. We had insightful conversations and truly a unique experience. We felt like part of the family.

    Chris2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • The great things about this AirBnB come break out into two categories: the location and the hosts. First, the location: You'll find yourself about two hours north of Santa Fe, just south of the border with Colorado. You're about 8000 feet up, in the middle of a very green valley nestled among the peaks. Bring your binoculars, because in the mornings and evenings you'll see elk and deer, the occasional hawk or eagle, and maybe even a black bear. About 45 minutes south, you can hike in and around the mesas and desert cliff walls of the Ghost Ranch, the Carson National Forest is nearby as well, and Southern Colorado is a very short drive away. In short, if you want to spend a few days hiking in the diverse landscapes offered by Northern New Mexico, it's hard to imagine a more ideal or idyllic location. As for Judy and Jerry, they welcomed us almost as though we were members of their own family. Communication before arriving was a breeze. In particular, Judy very helpfully provided a description of nearby hiking trails. The breakfast provided was great and I can't think of a way that Judy and Jerry didn't go above and beyond. My wife and I can't wait to go back.

  • Cozy room, beautiful scenery, and wonderful people. Judy and Jerry are absolutely fantastic and I can't thank them enough for everything. Easily one of the best lodging experiences we've ever had. Definitely recommended.

  • Rabbit Peak Ranch offers a unique opportunity for quiet solitude in a beautiful location just outside of Chama, NM. Judy and Jerry are genuinely delightful hosts- pleasant, helpful with directions and genuinely concerned for my experience. The wildlife viewing opportunities from the beautiful, covered back balcony are stellar. I am excited to plan a next trip to Rabbit Peak Ranch.

  • Jerry and Judy were amazing hosts. The rooms were comfy and cozy and the views amazing. Breakfast was wonderful as was the conversation! I highly recommend this beautiful place.

  • The hosts we're very generous and very welcoming to my wife and children. The B&B is on a beautiful scenic site overlooking the Chama valley. The amount of wildlife on the property is amazing. The continental breakfast was a spread. We will definitely be back to visit this summer. Highly recommend it as a Northern NM destination. Gonzales Family-Albuquerque

Nestled in the mountain-side of Lama, NM, surrounded by a covered deck, this intimate one-room cabin with loft will lift you out of any city mode, and set you into a serene place. We are located within the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, 30 minutes from Taos Ski Valley and Taos, and at the Gateway to the Rio Grande del Norte Monument. With scenic drives, skiing, hiking, picnicking, biking, fishing, and spectacular starry skies, you'll understand why it's called the "Land of Enchantment."
    - The cabin sits at +/- 8,200 feet elevation. - The cabin is surrounded by national forest as well as our property. It is situated about 200 feet from the main house, which is occupied by the hosts. The cabin is about 350 square feet with a loft. It has a wrap-around deck/porch. 1-2 guests fit perfectly. The space is NOT suitable for 12-year olds and younger. - Absolutely NO SMOKING ON THE PREMISES! We live in an area that is designated high fire risk.
    - Our neighborhood is quiet. - We are close to the Lama Foundation. - The closest town is 6 miles north of us - Questa. There is a small grocery store and a gas station there. The Questa Super Market is across the street from the Chevron Gas Station. - ALL-WHEEL DRIVE is suggested for winter months. - In summer months, beautiful hiking trails all in the near vicinity.
  • Winter solace with an urban appeal. Cozy with sleek design. Simplicity with enormous design to match the view that completes this stay, perfected in every way. Thank you to both of you. Anna

  • Incredible!!! Caroline was a wonderful host who goes above and beyond. Beautiful home and views!

    Lexie2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • I would like to write a bad review so we could call the cabin ours...ha! But here is the truth: Coming from Texas in July, we especially enjoyed the cool leisurely mornings wrapped in one of the cabin's long blankets sipping our hot drinks, listening to bird song and rustling pines. (Our last morning was 58 degrees!) During our stay, we fished the Red River in Questa, hiked down to the junction of the Red and Rio Grande Rivers, shopped, ate and danced in Red River and Taos. Caroline and Rob are such gracious talented hosts-- the kind of neighbors/friends I'd like to have year-round. Carolyn Baker

  • Romantic modern and beautiful B and B! Beautiful view, on the edge of a mountain too... snow covered peaks of Colorado from huge deck, totally secluded, brand new home. Well appointed kitchen, European linens and spa robes, sheep skin rugs on the floor. Like a Nordic retreat somewhere in the alps, .lovely, personable host who brought us fresh fruit and vases of flowers on arrival! We will be back!!

  • This cabin is so perfect. The location is surrounded by trees and amazing view. We loved the sound of the wind in the trees. So peaceful and quiet. Hosts live on property and are such wonderful people but they give you your privacy. We would see them while we were out and they were so great to chat with too. The cabin has everything you need as far as cookware, glasses so we were able to just enjoy the peace there and not have to leave unless we wanted to. A few groceries and we were able to make all our meals. What a refreshing time we had here!

    Rhonda 2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was very quiet and peaceful. Not too far off the beaten track but it feels very remote. Very well furnished and supplied. Caroline is a great host.

    Larry2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great romantic get away with seclusion and connection to Mother Nature in comfortable high end cabin. My favorite thing was sitting on the porch to absorb the wonderful view & nature. Caroline responded quickly, gave good directions & was the perfect host. Cabin has comfortable bed, nicely equipped full kitchen and feels very cozy.

    Donna2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline and Rob were fantastic host! They were friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. They went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed. Their cabin was amazing. It was beautiful, very clean, and has all the appliances you need to have a successful trip. It is in a perfect location between Taos and Red River. The location allows you to escape to a quiet place with fantastic mountain veiws from the wrap around porch. This cabin exceeded our expectations and met the needs we had for this trip. We plan to visit again!

Welcome to Chama! Our house is right in the center of town, across from the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railway. Come enjoy our unique 1890's home built out of railroad ties, and all that Chama and it's surrounding area has to offer! Walk to the gift shops, restaurants and brew pub! Gas and groceries just a mile away. Inquire about special pricing for small groups of 1-2 people.
Natural gas heating, or warm up next to the wood stove! Quiet residential neighborhood, with a large, private backyard area. Free wi-fi.
  • Sara was amazing and in constant contact with us as we made our 14hr drive to Chama. She was at the property when we arrived and showed us around everything and provided everything a hotel would have plus some. I would highly recommend staying at this property especially in the winter.

    Jennifer2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for watching the train and getting to the gift shops and other places around town. All the necessities were there. The kitchen was very nicely equipped with cooking dishes, utensils, etc. It made cooking our meals easy.

    Margo2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • As advertised, this home provided our work team all the basic necessities, centrally located and within walking distance to activities in Chama. Sara was available, responsive and helpful. I would stay here again and recommend to others.

  • 198 6th in Chama, NM is a comfortable, homey place. Sara and Mark went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. I really appreciated their knowledgeable advice on the local Nordic skiing scene, both around Chama and above the Colorado border. I came to Chama for the skiing. Was pleasantly surprised to find the house equipped with unlimited WiFi. Did not see that mentioned in the property description. The property is directly across the street from the depot for the Cumbres and Toltec scenic railroad. Will come back next summer and bring the family.

    Robert J2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's home is exactly what you see in the pictures what you can't see are the squeaky floors which really made it kind of fun. We stayed there to enjoy the Cu,mbres Toltec Railroad and we were able to walk to everything we needed including a good breakfast and a good dinner

    Robert2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sara was everything you would want in a hostess. The house is comfortable and home-like with lots of games, a nice back yard and deck, comfortable beds and a perfect location if you want to be close to the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic train. The house is great for a family or active, fit people but could pose a challenge for older adults or people with mobility or visual disabilities to navigate safely. Price was very reasonable.

    Vickie2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • A great house for vacationing in northern New Mexico. We were in town for the Cumbres & Toltec Ry and the house was so close to the depot that you could hear steam whistles from the living room!

    James2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sara's home in Chama was a really conveniently located spot for our two day fishing trip in the Chama area. We weren't on the railroad, but it's only a block walk to the station. Also close to several restaurants and bars. We appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with dishes and cookware. There is also a TV with DVD player that came in handy. Lovely home- we enjoyed our stay!

Federico, Italian business consultant in the fashion industry for 20 years, extensively traveled visiting 102 countries and always had the dream to build a luxury private resort in a forest. The Wild Horse Mesa in South Colorado with the lake, Blanca Peak, and the Sangre de Cristo range both visible from the ranch together with the peace and the fantastic views was the perfect call for his dream. Here you can indulge yourself in a unique experience and in complete privacy.
We are in the forest at 3 miles from the sanchez reservoir lake between the Blanca Group and the Sangre de Cristo Range. If you like open spaces in the mountain range, here we are. In the winter 4 ski resorts are available in one hour driving. Federico is also a ski instructor and you may discuss with him a package.
  • Amazing host. Ask him his life story. You won't be disappointed

    Matthew2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing, far from the stress of any city. Frederico has been a great host. We (kids included) really enjoyed the fires that Frederico prepared as well as the beautiful view of the sky! Will definitely come back

    Marie2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a completely relaxing escape with the best of Colorado's nature all around, this is your place. You get a private, beautiful, rustic cabin with a pool & hot tub & amazing views of multiple 14,000ft peaks all to yourself. While "off the grid" the house provides all everything you could want for an unplugged mountain getaway - great beds, great bathroom, full kitchen, a great fireplace with leather couches, & many outdoor relaxing/site seeing options. Federico is an incredible host - we came here to honeymoon & recharge after busy wedding week. Federico stays on the land & will provide as much or as little interaction as the guest would like. Federico gave us an amazing experience, from preparing us the hot tub, to giving us recommendations for an excursion (sand dunes), to cooking us a 6 course gourmet meal with excellent wine pairings. While we had all of the romantic time we needed, we had a brilliant time conversing with Federico and invited him to sit with us and finish our wine. He was such a great host we felt like we made a friend in the end. We are already planning to come back to Dolomites Ranch for quick weekend getaways that can either prove to be full of adventure (ski, hike, lake, dunes) or completely serene & peaceful....or a stay here can provide the perfect balance of both. Great value, great service, great property/accomodations. Just a few notes for future visitors: 4 wheel drive is a must & grab some snacks/drinks before you arrive as neighboring towns are 20 min. Prepare for a great time.

    Jack2016-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • You are not just getting a place to stay, rather a resort with many facilities. While we did not use them because time did not allow, we will consider renting it just for that. Federico did everything he could to meet our needs, as we are very quiet we had little interaction. This is an off the grid facility and when you understand how it works, then it is very easy. Mille Grazie Federico

    Marc2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Dolomites Ranch is gorgeous and has everything you need to relax & get away. From a tower with the most breathtaking views of the mountains to gourmet dining to the massages, sauna, hot tub & pool you are pampered from the moment you step on the property. Federico's level of service is impeccable & we were constantly impressed!

    travis2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Do NOT miss the opportunity to stay with Federico! His ranch and his amenities are simply amazing! He prepared an outstanding meal just for us with all of the special touches of a five-star restaurant! Federico has the most charismatic personality and charm. And talents, like a masseuse, a ski instructor, knowledgeable guide and chef! We had a delightful conversation and I learned a lot about the interaction between food and wine that I was not aware of at all. We fished the nearby Culebra which is very secret and magical stream of water.

    Cathy2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This rustic getaway is great for anyone looking to escape the city life and cozy up with a loved one! Federico was very communicative prior to our arrival to make sure we arrived safe and sound!

    Matthew2016-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • It is apparent that Federico loves what he does and is cut out for the work of being a vacation rental host. in addition he is an incredibly thoughtful, kind, caring and generous soul. The property is in a remarkable setting, literally in the top of a mountain, set back from the road, private, fresh air. The cabin and set up is charming. Thank you Federico for all your efforts to create a special stay for each of us.

Our handcrafted two story adobe sits on two gorgeous acres. The spacious bedroom upstairs has great light and mountain views; downstairs, there's a comfy living space, galley kitchen, bath & laundry. It's peaceful, quiet & close to hiking trails.
The place is perfect for creative work: it's quiet, comfortable, and set in a lovely natural setting with few distractions. (Well, the birds, and the view, and at night the stars…). There's a queen bed that's suitable for one or two, a dining table, a writing desk, and a great couch and armchair for lounging. The other side of the house is a long-term rental with a very quiet, respectful tenant. Separate entrances at opposite sides of the house, separate driveways, and separate internet accounts ensure maximal privacy, but the neighbors you encounter are friendly and informative.
San Cristobal is a beautiful valley village surrounded by national forest. The DH Lawrence Ranch is just up the road, Taos is a 20 minute drive away, and the Taos Ski Valley is 30 miles from here. You can see the Rio Grande wind its way west from the road entering the valley. Hiking trails offer short jaunts or multi-week expeditions: this really is a gateway to wilderness.
  • We had a wonderful stay at Summer's peaceful home. We traveled right after a snowstorm and Summer and her son were conscientious and communicative about road conditions in the area. They also went out of their way to clear snow for our arrival. We found the house to be bright, cozy, clean, and full of positive energy. We enjoyed seeing the stars and the Milky Way each night, and waking to idyllic mountain views each morning. We didn't use the outdoor bath due to the winter weather, but it looks like something from the Secret Garden! We couldn't ask for a kinder host than Summer and we look forward to visiting again.

    Lori2016-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the house is paradise. The house is very comfortable and extremely well-appointed for all one's needs. The accommodations are so cozy and inviting it is difficult to venture away from it! The breathtaking view from the upstairs bedroom window towards the mountains is one that stamps an indelible memory on one's heart and mind. It was hard to depart this special and tranquil place. I will certainly return. One could not ask for a better host than Summer; prompt to respond to any of your needs and completely pleasant and accommodating! A+++ ratings here!!!!

    Bobby2015-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous stay at Summer's cottage! Even if you don't write, you will. Summer was so patient with Miss Woody Allen, as I prepared for and settled into my heavenly unplugged week away in the valley of The Enchanted Circle. You can certainly choose to get on tha' grid - the wifi was super fast and the landline came in handy. Once you leave the valley, Midtown Lounge (a very clean and super friendly watering hole) down the road in Arroyo Hondo (on the way to Taos) had great wifi and AT&T cell reception. So did Taos! As for this ultra charming cottage, it was very clean, extremely comfy and had all that I needed. And, yes, a great selection of books! I loved the thoughtfully lit pathway from the car to front door (though you still need a flashlight, which Summer provides). It's super quiet, private and...spoiler alert...amazing bird songs every morning! I stayed awake just to drink them in. The renter on the other side, Jim, was very friendly and extremely quiet. Summer's neighbor Carl, whom I met on my way out, was muy amable as well. For close by food, I recommend the very expensive specialty pizzas at Pizaños, so worth it and a great view if you eat in. Shopping bliss at FX18 on Bent Street. Great affordable mostly locally-made gifts, jewelry, hats, fun items. I love Summer's cottage and would be absolutely thrilled to return - especially now that I know the drill. Thanks for having this (now) peace-out City Slicker, Summer and Kan!

    Sheri 2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • It's a great place to be if you want some privacy and beautiful scenery. I loved the neighborhood, and Summer was always easy to reach! I loved our stay here.

    Michelle2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • I was arriving late and Summer made sure I had very explicit directions and instructions for arrival. She asked that I check in so that she knew I made it safely there which I thought was very kind and thoughtful. The location is perfect if you want to be a bit remote (but not too far from the shops and grocery stores of Taos) and yet, you have high speed Internet. The neighbors were friendly and quiet. The setting is fabulous and the bedroom feels like you are in a treehouse. The bedroom is gorgeous. Summer also had coffee and milk there to start your morning (all the basics were there). Hiking is abundant and just a drive away. There are a couple of spas around as well. It's a very peaceful setting. I would absolutely recommend Summer's place and wish I could have stayed longer!

    Pamela2016-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This little house is a wonderful place for creative work or retreat; I stayed for over six weeks and wasn't ready to leave! The location is beautiful and remote, and a great base for day trips into Taos and Santa Fe or around New Mexico. There is a lovely sitting area in a glade beyond the house, an outdoor tub, and easy walking access to nearby roads and trails and into San Cristobal canyon - as well as a maze of hiking trails within a few miles along the Rio Grande and in the Sangre de Cristos mountains. The kitchen is fully functional, the bathroom tidy, the living room cozy with an expandable table, and the upstairs bedroom truly perfect - simple, inspiring and full of light. Though there are a few friendly neighbors around, the feel of the space is very private; its many windows open out onto empty fields and stunning views of the mountains. As the description explains, cell phone reception was limited (though the house phone worked when needed), and the internet was also a bit slower than my city norm, though perfectly adequate for the work I needed to do. Summer was an excellent and responsive host: she guided me through my late-night arrival and was great about checking in to make sure everything was working as I settled in and addressing any requests. I would absolutely recommend staying here for anyone seeking a simple space and a break from daily life. There's a lovely feeling of work and art having been done here by others before. And the light and the stars are incredible.

  • Summers Adobe Studio was like home for me for ten days. I loved the house surrounded by cottonwoods, birdsongs and coyote howling. The bed was a dream in a room upstair, full of light and cosy. Summer was a great host - very kind and helpful. It is a quiet place, everything you need is there - a washing mashine, a little kitchen, bathroom, wifi. I appreciate the cooler and the ice pads when I went to my daytrips in the area and it was very groovy to have some things in the fridge when I came. I was looking for a place where I can do my writing work and it was perfect. Hard to leave. I hope I come back one day. Back home again in Germany, but still in San Chrostobal in my mind. Thank you, Summer!

    Antje2016-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect, warm, cozy cabin full of light and books! I stayed here for a month cooking, reading, writing and hiking. The real treat is the bedroom which has the bed pushed up right against the window where you can see all the stars as you fall asleep. This space was great for reading, working and yoga. It was the cheapest place to escape for a month in the mountains and summer was so responsive and helpful with everything.

  • Perfect little house for one or two people. Has all the necessary amenities in a charming little loft set-up. House was clean and it's close enough to downtown that everything is accessible. Hosts were friendly, gracious, and available. Great value over the hotels in town.

  • Definitely try this place out.... If you go be prepared to see a beautiful tiny house with really nice art work. Her husband was very friendly and full of information about the area and different events that go on in the downtown area. They did have a frigde, coffee pot, small crock pot for cooking, but we took a waffle maker and a few other items to make dinner. Really great place we will definitely return to this tiny house that is suitable for 5'9 and 6'2 tall people.

  • Location was in sketchy part of town. Lots of loud noise, partying going on around area. We had to clean the place before even entering the place due to it being dirty.. Bed was very uncomfortable . Wifi was out almost every day.(host attempted to fix it ) Host also was around the area hanging out and it wasn't a very private experience. Host left out dirty dog blankets . Overall would not stay here ever again.

It's close to Taos, Red River, and Rio Costilla Park, but it feels like you have the whole mountain to yourself. I've never seen so many stars at night. Great place to take advantage of all the outdoor adventures that northern New Mexico has to offer.

  • We were looking for a quiet getaway from the every day hussle of the city; this secluded cabin gave us just that. The cabin was very clean, comfortable bed, and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make meals during our stay. The cabin is nestled between a few other cabins but we rarely saw or heard anyone during our stay. We had the opportunity to go on a few hikes and the views and calmness of he area is breathtaking. We will absolutely be returning.

  • This is the perfect place to go if you want to get away from your busy life. Definitely a secluded area. There are plenty of trails to enjoy or you can sit out on the patio or down in the valley and make a fire in the fire pit provided. April will give you great directions to get to your destination. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps was not very accurate once we got to Amalia. We will definitely be going back.

  • This place is amazing! We were fascinated by the history of this former ski resort and very much enjoyed the peaceful hikes throughout the property. There is a casita next to and behind this casita so at first glance you may think privacy could be an issue but we rarely noticed or ran into the other people staying in the nearby casistas. The area is very quiet with scenic hiking trails and open meadows. Our 4 year old son and yellow lab absolutely loved this place. We will definitely be coming back.

    Drew2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! It is a fully modern and comfortable and totally cute cabin in the middle of real mountain wilderness. It is perfect for folks who want to get out into the wild while keeping the comforts of home. The cabin is in a cluster of, I think, four or five other cabin, surrounded by miles and miles of land. There are wide open trails and roads heading in all directions. We had a great time hiking and enjoying the beautiful views. Since it is in the real, honest to goodness wilderness (yay!) visitors should pack flashlights (for walking away from the cabin at all in the night; we needed it to take our pooch for bathroom breaks after dark) and know (or learn) a thing or two about basic safety when out enjoying nature. I would & do highly recommend this place!

    Jennifer2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • The casita was lovely. It was within driving distance of Red River and Valle Vidal. I would suggest future guest bring some of their own supplies (kitchen items including pots, pans, utensils and can opener). Also, be sure to bring your own folding chairs to enjoy the views from the front porch.

    Sherry2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely Cabin! Clean and nice decor. The views are amazing! I could feel the peace while having picnic outside surrounded by mountains. When arriving to the cabin, I could see a little bear and many deer pass. It was the highlight of my trip.

  • This was my second stay and it was just as amazing as the first! The walks, the views, the cozy fire and spacious (URL HIDDEN) all just such a special place in the world. Kenneth is the absolute best. You’ll be lucky to meet such a kind host and gifted craftsman.

    Annabel2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth accommodated our late night arrival which was very appreciated. His guesthouse is private but not too remote. For rafters like me, this place is a perfect base for runs on the Rio Grande and Rio Chama. Great stay!

    paul2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most spectacular space, both inside the home and surrounding you. Kenneth is one of a kind. I felt I had been on a retreat!

    Annabel2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth was so generous to let us stay another night when we had missed the first one due to car trouble. The cabin is gorgeous and spacious, the views are stunning, the dogs loved running around the land, the sunsets were spectacular

    lolly2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beatiful and unique place to stay. Kenneth was easy to get along with, left us alone to explore his ranch. We drove or walked every inch of it, and had a great time. We fished nearby, spent a day at the farmers market in Taos, a day in Ojo Caliente hot springs, and would have taken the narrow gauge train ride if we hadn't already did it twice. Great place to stay.

    Don2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth's place is great. Very comfortable. I stayed here for a week and drove up to Conejos each day for a job I was doing there. The drive was very nice. (Wished I had time to climb the mountain I passed every day...maybe next time.) Will definitely consider staying here again in the future when I have work out this way. Kenneth is a GREAT host. Very kind and knowledgeable.

    Gregg2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I only had one night to spend at Kenneth's guest house, but it was a comfortable home base for our adventures in the area. The closest grocery store we could find was about twenty minutes away, so be sure you don't forget anything! Kenneth was kind enough to give us a cup of rice to cook with the veggies we brought for our dinner. The guest house is a very large studio, with high ceilings and large windows, but still manages to feel cozy. Although we didn't have much time to spend there, it was very enjoyable for the few hours we did. The location is quiet, rural, and very beautiful, Kenneth's property included. I wish we had more time to explore the property itself! This was our first time in the area, so we drove to Ojo Caliente to visit the hot springs, and spent the following day in Taos, both about a thirty minute drive. We enjoyed our stay and believe that you will as well, especially if you love spending time outdoors or in quiet, secluded areas of our beautiful state. Sommer

Taos Goji Eco Lodge Retreat & organic goji farm is nestled in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Cabins are close to Taos & the Taos Ski Valley & Red River. Perfect for small retreats, reunions & weddings. Taos Ski Valley is open 1 week beyond Easter.
New Mexico is blessed with more sun than most other states. Imagine skiing the mountains and feeling the warmth of the sun. Our historic eco-lodge is located on a 40 acre goji berry farm in between Taos and Red River ski areas. The Cabana Vista Hermosa is 450 sq ft converted dairy barn and can comfortably sleep 3-4 people. It has a queen bed. There are extra beds available for familes with two children. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, fridge, and micro oven. The bathroom has a shower. Our goji berry farm is nestled in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains in close proximity to Taos (11 miles) and It is only thirty minutes to Taos Ski Valley and Red River. We raise organic goji berries and have baby chicks and miniature goats. We also have an eco-lodge with rustic log cabins and adobe casitas for rent short and longer term. The Vista Hermosa Cabin and the other eco cabins are surrounded by national forest and the land has creeks, ponds, aspens and cottonwood trees, flower gardens, stone paths, goji, raspberry and apple orchards and great views of the mountains. We use only green cleaners and recycle. Most cabins and casitas have wood fire stoves plus electric and propane heaters. These historic casitas and cabins offer a great country retreat for writers and artists, couples who seek solitude and families who would like to experience living on a farm in the country side. It is a great place to just to to kick back in, take walks or fish. Our place is also a bird sanctuary and a couple of dedicated bird watchers counted up to 100 different species! There is a play ground outside and we are adding animals to our petting zoo. Aldous Huxley and D.H. Lawrence lived and wrote here, so the writers who come here are in great company. The cabins are fully-furnished and each cabin has a separate kitchen and bathroom. Drinking water comes from our deep wells. The poet's View is a large studio room with a kitchen and a bathroom (shower). The cabin has a queen bed and a queen sofa bed. During summer we have fresh, organic vegetables available to guests and during late summer and fall there are plenty of apples to pick. Beginning in mid-April, gourmet breakfasts and dinners are available at extra charge. Massages, baby sitting and horse trail rides are available by appointment. We are located in the countryside and city slickers may be dismayed by the lack of street lights and the quietude at night. Depending on your cell phone provider you may have to drive to the post office or up the road to get reception. Wifi: fiber optics, we also have several landlines to enable connection anywhere in the U.S.) We’re not a motel or hotel: these are clean, rustic country cabins, a perfect place for creative individuals who desire to take a break from the hustle and bustle of civilization or to bring your children to appreciate country living. This is also an introduction to camping or glamping for families who want a degree of country comfort. This is a place to get away from the TV and computer games. Don't panic, Taos is a 15 minute drive away! Taos is home to more than twenty sites on the National Register of Historic Places. The Taos Pueblo has been occupied for nearly a millennium and is considered to be the oldest continuously inhabited community in the Unites States. The Taos Pueblo was added as an Unesco World Heritage Site in 1992 as one of the most significant historical cultural landmarks in the world; There are many ways to explore art in Taos. Taos is an old art colony since 1899. Some of the artists' studios have been preserved and may be viewed by visitors. Many of the historic sites are homes and studios of artists, including the Mabel Dodge Luhan House,Eanger Irving Couse House and Studio, Joseph Henry Sharp Studios, the Leon Gaspard House, the Couse/Sharp Historic Site and the Ernest Martin Hennings House. On Ledoux Street, just south of the Taos Plaza, are the Ernest L. Blumenschein House and Harwood House. There are three Art Museums in Taos: Harwood Museum of Art, Taos Art Museum and Millicent Rogers Museum that provide art from the pueblo Native Americans, Taos Society of Artists and modern and contemporary artists of the Taos art colony. The town has numerous art galleries and there are several houses of the Taos Society of Artists.
The small quiet village where the lodge is located. The mountain views and the hiking and fishing paths. The closeness to Taos, hotspirings and ski valleys. The hundreds of birds who return in the spring to nest. The struggle to protect our goji berries from the same birds :)
  • We were met by Sia and shown our new home for several days. We had an absolutely wonderful experience. We like the location out from everything but not too far away either....besides the drive back and forth to Taos is worth it anyway. We were on part of the Enchanted Circle north of Taos and the scenery defies description in its beauty. Saw many birds and animals we have never seen before. Eric and Sia were very gracious and knowledgeable about the area and very helpful. We were very pleased with everything. Dudley and Marge Miller

  • Incredible and idyllic location. A charming and unique way to experience New Mexico and Taos. Plus, the family is just lovely. I hope to stay here again!

    Sara2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really neat location. I recommend arriving during the day so you can find your way to your home easily. I arrived at night and I actually went into the wrong home initially (how embarrassing). Sia was very kind and helped me find my way into the correct location. I stayed in the poet's view and there was plenty of space for my girlfriend, our dog, and I to enjoy. The bed was comfy and the sheets were clean. Fresh towels were in the bathroom. Sia provides a booklet with a lot of neat local things to do (activities, eats, the works!) which is really helpful if you haven't done any research on the area to begin with. One of the doors to the home was incredibly difficult to open and nearly impossible to close. I noticed the screens on the doors weren't quite secure. I mention this because we had a couple of spiders on the head of the bed and a few grasshoppers in the bathroom. I thought that if the doors and screens were secured I could have enjoyed more fresh air. Instead I kept the doors closed to keep the bugs out. The home is fenced and has a small yard with some chairs and shade outside for lounging. A few steps away were some chickens, goats, and alpacas that liked to pose for a photo or two. Additionally there were two comfy hammocks set up outside on the property that you could crash on if you pleased. There are also a few hiking trails that start at the farm. The home is about 25 minutes to Taos and 30 minutes to Red River. Great views of the stars. Overall it was a cool place to stay and I would go back to the area for the proximity to Taos and Red River.

  • I never met Sia, but the cabin is quiet and comfortable. The setting is inspiring. I got a lot of creative work done during my stay. Thanks!

    Michael2014-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sia sent us a message with directions to the cabin before our arrival, which was great, because our GPS only got us so far (however, we were able to see the farm on the GPS map, so we knew which direction to head if we got lost). We visited in the summer time (early August) and the cabin was comfortable (no AC required). Note that the farm with the cabins is in San Cristobal (about 15-20 minute drive North of Taos proper). The cabin itself was cozy and rustic, but well appointed. The bed was comfortable. We did not actually meet Sia, but we had plenty of privacy despite other guests staying in the neighboring cabins on the farm.

    Sean2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our time at Eco Goji farm in the Poet's View Cabin was nothing short of incredible. Our hosts had fresh flowers and fresh eggs waiting in the cabin for our arrival. Everything was spotless with a clean comfy bed and yet charming, warm and lovely decor. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting host Eric and talking with him, learning about the farm, the chickens and the land. The land and views are spectacular. It was delightfully serene, secluded and invigorating. It wasn't far from Taos proper and other great opportunities for exploration. There was plenty of space to spread out, relax and explore with attentive but not intrusive hosts. We look forward to returning in the future for a longer stay. Thank you!

    Susannah2016-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed this country side place. We spent 4 days there during the Christmas week. Winter was tough but the heater worked very well. Everything was nicely arranged as shown on website photos. We really liked the view from the house and the silence in the area. The 2 minor downsides/disappointments were that the wifi signal was not powerful enough to reach our house. The other thing is that the house is not exactly in the middle of nowhere as suggested in the description details: there are several small b&b houses in the same area. Strongly recommended!

    Antoine2013-12-26T00:00:00Z

  • The lodge truly exceeded our expectations! It's charming, clean and very well located between town and the sand dunes. Wendy was a wonderful host! She was quick with communication, stocked our favorite beverage (coffee) and had great recommendations for the area. The two dogs on the premises are also adorable and a huge plus!

    Elizabeth2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy was an amazing host, she truly made us feel at home and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. The cabin is very spacious and has great views! We loved our stay and highly recommend. Also the dogs Baxter and Elsa are so sweet and friendly.

  • We adored our time at this airbnb! Wendy went above and beyond to make it feel homey, which was wonderful after so many nights of camping!!

  • Wendy and Bob are incredible hosts- genuinely warm and hospitable. Their home is just as advertised on AirBnB. They are just a 10 minute drive to Alamosa for restaurants, 20 or 30 minutes from the Sand Dunes, and 10 minutes from the Gator Farm. Wendy put out a lovely goody basket of snacks and drinks for us. It was spacious, homey, rustic-chic, clean, and wonderfully secluded but quite accessible to all the places we wanted to visit. Wendy let us visit her chicken coop and collect eggs too!! We loved our stay.

  • It was a wonder place to stay for visiting the Sand Dunes. Wendy was most gracious and has tons of knowledge on the area. The cabin is very interesting. We had the whole upstairs, with the private sitting area and bath. Wendy shares her well equipped kitchen and is very well stocked with breakfast items which was a plus as most places don't include breakfast with the stay. We cooked fresh eggs from her chickens. Definitely to go back when I go out that way again or on the way to Durango.

    Theresa2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • The four of us stayed upstairs in a queen and two singles. Wendy was very friendly and accommodating. Great wrap around porch to watch the sunset. Beautiful log home with great detail. Highly recommended and will stay again the next time in the area.

  • This is my second stay at the Lucky Dog Lodge and I got to know Wendy and Rob more. Wendy is very friendly and sincere. Her attention to details is way beyond what one would expect at a rural lodge. The cabin it self is very interesting, the upstairs area was so private, but the downstairs kitchen and dining area is so available, you may think that you have the whole lodge to yourself. Will definitely stay there again, when I am down that way or in transit.

Easy walk to the park or to the farmer's market, and a short drive to the mountains, sand dunes,Wolf Creek ski area, rafting on the Rio Grande, etc. the house is very clean and very well appointed. This cabin is located at Taos Goji Ecolodge, an historic property with ten renovated cabins and a 4-acre goji berry farm located on 40 acres of pristine land in San Cristobal, NM. The Frieda Lawrence cabin is one of four built at the beginning of last century, originally for sheep herders. Both Alduous Huxley and D.H. Lawrence lived and wrote in these cabins, and Frieda was known to frequent and Georgia O'Keefe also visited. Later Elizabeth Kubler Ross and Ram Dass stayed here. The log cabin, designed for 1-2 people, has a cozy and quiet feel. The porch overlooks a flower garden and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The cabin is a one room efficiency/duplex with a bathroom and kitchen. It is fully furnished and equipped. There is a wood burning stove, and a propane heater. The water comes from our deep wells. Only green cleaners and detergents are used. We are located in San Cristobal, a small village of about 200 families surrounded by national forest and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Our place is also a bird sanctuary and a couple of dedicated bird watchers counted over 100 different species recently! The cabin is a one room efficiency/duplex with a bathroom and kitchen. • The cabin was so cozy and comfortable! Thank you for a great 2 night's stay. Sia and Eric even offered us some farm fresh eggs!

  • I stayed at the Eco Lodge for two days and absolutely loved it! The valley it was nestled in was so quiet and picturesque. We will definitely stay here again if we ever get a chance to go back to the Taos area!

  • This was a cute little cabin on a very nice property. My son had plenty of space to run around. We enjoyed seeing the chickens. The kitchen was well-equipped and the bathroom was a nice big size. Very cozy and very quiet. If you're a writer, you'll find it very comfortable. It's definitely a great place to do some writing.

  • Cabin was just what we wanted. We were taken on a tour of the property and told about all the projects that they were doing. We were also given fresh eggs. Great out of the way location but also close to all the sites we wanted to go to. Thanks for a fun 3 day weekend.

  • We really enjoyed our stay here. The room is small but cozy and cutely furnished. It is very quiet at night, except for the sounds of the coyotes and elk! We really enjoyed that. The hosts are very sweet and they let us take a pumpkin from the patch. We also had some tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden. This is a great little rustic place to stay in if you are looking for peace and quite in the mountains!

  • Such a beautiful place to spend our time in Taos. Amazing sunsets and stars.

  • My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Taos Goji Ecolodge. The hosts and their family were welcoming, down-to-earth, folks. The cabin itself provided a cozy little getaway for two, which was perfect for reading and writing. The farm is rustic and scenic. It's nicely situated for a drive to town or to woodsy trails and hot springs. There's a refreshing energy to the Ecolodge... the scents and sounds in the morning were especially reinvigorating. Highly recommended.

  • The cabin was as described and a great base for exploring the Taos area. The wood stove kept us very warm and we appreciated the fresh eggs too. Thanks! Just wish we could have stayed for longer.

This rustic 325 sq ft log cabin is on a small goji berry farm outside of Taos, NM; 25 min to Taos Ski Valley. Enjoy the cottonwood trees, silence, and bright stars. Organic veggies and eggs available seasonally. Queen bed, equipped kitchen, and bath.
This cabin is located at Taos Goji Ecolodge, an historic property with ten renovated cabins and a 4-acre goji berry farm. The Georgia O'keefe cabin is one of four built at the beginning of last century, originally for sheep herders. Both Alduous Huxley and D.H. Lawrence lived and wrote in these cabins, Frieda Lawrence and Dorothy Brett were frequent visitors as well and later Elizabeth Kubler Ross and Ram Dass stayed here. The log cabin, designed for 1-2 people, has a cozy and quiet feel. The porch overlooks a flower garden and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The cabin is a one room efficiency/duplex with a bathroom and kitchen. It is fully furnished and equipped. If this space is too small for you we also have larger cabins and casitas. There is a wood burning stove, and a propane heater. The water comes from our deep wells. Only green cleaners and detergents are used. We are located in San Cristobal, a small village of about 200 families surrounded by national forest and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It is a great place for hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and cross country skiing. We raise organic goji berries and chickens on the farm. In the summer we keep lambs and small goats for the children. Fresh veggies and eggs are available seasonally, usually in exchange for a little weeding or a good word. The land has creeks, ponds, aspens and cottonwood trees, flower gardens, stone paths, goji, raspberry, and apple trees. Everywhere there are great views of the mountains. Our place is also a bird sanctuary and a couple of dedicated bird watchers counted over 100 different species recently! Our historic cabins offer a great country retreat for writers and artists, couples who seek a romantic getaway, and families who would like to experience life on the farm. It is also a wonderful place for solo retreat. Expect to get away from the modern life. Some folks may be dismayed by the lack of city lights and the pervading silence at night. Our internet connection gets spotty during rain storms and snow. Depending on your cell phone provider you may have to walk or drive to the post office or up the road to get reception. We invite you to sink into these moments, listen to the wind rustling through the glossy leaves of the cottonwoods. Never fear for boredom at night - the stars outnumber your imagination. We're not a hotel. These are clean, rustic country cabins, a perfect place for creative individuals who desire a break from the bustle of civilization or to bring your children to appreciate country living. • The eco-lodge is a great retreat from the busy world. My partner and I had a relaxing, peaceful stay at the farm. The room is rustic with comfortable beds, basic kitchen, and good sized bathroom with a tub. Loved the decor with local retablos and Mexican tiles. Sia was very easy to communicate with and responded quickly to all my questions. I hope we can go back one day.

  • We could not have felt more welcomed. The entire family and WOOFers made us feel like part of their tribe rather than a visitor. The cabin was clean, cute, cozy and exactly as described. Our highlights of our stay included the fresh eggs and free greens from the garden, all the cute baby farm animals and room for our three year old to romp and roam. I highly recommend the Dorothy Brett Cabin!

  • I'm hesitant to write a glowing review because I don't want to lose access to this gem in the future :) A friend/co-worker found this location for me as my husband and I wanted to go out of town the very next day and didn't have time to look. I didn't read the *whole* website info about the accommodations--was too excited to find a place that that allowed our dog and was available on short notice. We knew it would be fairly rustic (we were fine with that since our Plan B was to camp). Upon arrival, someone was in our cabin--an accidental double-booking. No big deal--mistakes happen. One of the WWOOFers (a new term we learned!) contacted Sia, we were moved to an identical cabin, and all was well. That experience got us meeting a WWOOFer, the folks in "our" cabin, and other guests. This was one of the best parts of staying here: everyone was so friendly! It was reminiscent of sitting on your porch and visiting with neighbors. Much better than any motel where you hole yourself up and don't socialize. As others posted, we were provided fresh eggs each evening that we savored each morning. We LOVE fresh eggs! They also offered the various lettuce and squash from their gardens, which we did not take but appreciative of the offer. They provided olive oil, salt and pepper and a few cooking pans/pots, plates, cups, utensils. The location was close enough to Taos but at a slightly higher elevation, giving a little much-needed break from the heat. The cabin was very hot in the evening (air didn't circulate well), so we would bring a small fan the next visit. As mentioned, I hadn't really read the website so had no idea about the goji trees on their property. That was a new experience for us and we did further research about the excellent antioxidant properties of goji berries. As others posted, it is a working farm, so you'll be awakened pretty early by the rooster. And there were lots of mosquitos at dusk (bring bug repellant). Seriously, if you're looking to be pampered at 4- or 5-star accommodations, you should look elsewhere. But for us, it was great. I believe the positive energy at this place attracts people who enjoy this experience.

  • This was my first airbnb experience and it was great! Joe was hosting since Sia was away, and he responded very quickly by phone and email when I had questions. The location of the cabin is ideal: short, beautiful drives to Taos Ski Valley, Taos Pueblo, Taos town, and Rio Grande Bridge. My dog was welcome too, and we were both very comfortable in the cabin! The dirt roads around the cabin are great for brisk morning walks with beautiful vistas. Thank you!

    Erin2015-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great experience here. I was greeted with farm fresh eggs and veggies from the garden and even scored a few pounds of chanterelles from the host's foraging trip. The cabin was simple with a very comfortable bed. The land was expansive and everyone was welcoming. Overall this is a rustic, simple place exactly as described.

    Stephen2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome cabin. Great secluded location. Perfect for quite getaway. Sia was a great host who went above and beyond.

    Eric2015-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • A unique small farm in a beautiful, secluded valley near Taos and Arroyo Seco but not too near! The family who run this place are as special as the cabins/casitas....if you want a different, funkier experience this is your place. Bring food to cook in your kitchen and eat breakfast at the trading post. The WI-FI works very (URL HIDDEN) TV! Each casita/cabin is different...lots of charm. The beds are comfortable and pay attention to the art/folk art adorning the walls and arranged on the shelves. Very cool. We try and visit at least once a year.

    Maggie2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect spot for us to take a day and rest. We were on a trip cross country and really appreciated this peaceful spot. It is very rustic and quiet. No TV and spotty Internet. This was just what we needed to escape the road. It has a small kitchen so we were able to cook and eat real food. We took some walks, napped and read. Very relaxing and our dog was welcome too. All in all a very good experience. I would recommend Sia's place if you are looking to escape the rat race and just be in a quiet and peaceful place. Don't forget your bug repellant as there are mosquitos.

  • We had a wonderful stay at the Writers Cabin. Sia, Eric and Shandra were wonderful hosts and very knowledgable about the surrounding area. The cabin has everything needed for a relaxing stay. All in all, a very pleasant stay. Would definitely recommend.

  • We had an amazing time staying with Sia, Eric, their daughter Shandra and their grandkids. They are a beautiful and welcoming family that has made a truly unique and beautiful space to share with others. The property is spacious and includes the goji berry farm, an organic garden, fowl, chickens and goats, a beautiful teepee, and metal made art, in addition to the living spaces. They are working on finishing the main cabin to be a cafe space and the renovations are gorgeous so far. We look forward to staying with them again in the future.

  • Thank you for a great stay! Accomodations were cozy and relaxing - and the farm charming and welcoming. Was a nice relaxing visit, friendly, welcoming, and accomodating hosts!

    Halle2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was a beautiful place to stay - and perfect for a girls retreat. We didn't want a whole lot of stimulation - just a quiet place to catch up, make dinner, and hang out and it was great for that. I will say that the Bed was super squeaky, so much so that it woke me up in the night, and I am not a light sleeper. And there were no goats, which we were kind of looking forward to meeting. And we never saw Sia or anyone who seemed like a host. With no cell service I couldn't have reach out if I wanted to and it would have been nice to have someone come to the door on arrival, just let us know where they were staying on the grounds so we knew where to go if we needed something. Luckily, we didn't need anything. The scenery was so beautiful though, I wasn't upset about any of that at all. Just so thankful for the time and the space provided. Beautiful.

  • We just loved Sia's place. Nestled up in the woods north of Taos in San Cristobal, it was welcomed hermitage for 3 nights. The Writer's Cabin was simple and classy, had all the amenities we desired, even candles and fresh flowers. The heater worked great (we were there during a rainstorm), the kitchen was well-stocked with utensils, dishes etc, and there were eco bath products and dishsoap which we really appreciated! The land is also beautiful, and it's only a 30 minute drive from the center of Taos. I highly recommend staying here!

  • Check in was great. Appreciated being able to bring the dogs. Quiet, cozy and warm. Neat time walking around the property. The view to Taos is beyond stunning! Enjoyed the 3" of snow we woke to on the last day. We'll be back!

  • We were extremely pleased with our stay and Kenneth's welcoming nature. The private room was spacious with a view of the garden. The views exceeded our expectations, with both the beautiful land on his property and surrounding area which is right next to Carson National Forest. Kenneth gave us great recommendations on all sorts of outdoor activities. We only wish we had more time to explore this area. We will surely visit again!

  • My stop at the ranch was a beautiful respite from traveling toward home at the end of a busy vacation. My pup was thrilled to be off of his leash and allowed to explore and chase rabbits! The location is secluded and scenic, and the property itself is pristine with picturesque views. It was a special treat to have an opportunity to see the Sun Tree at the back of the property which had recently been a ceremonial centerpiece. I found the full kitchen to be well equipped for my needs and the outside seating by the pond perfect for sipping a drink and watching the day slip into a colorful sunset. I took a trip into Taos (reasonably close) for supplies and just to sight see for the day. It was a lovely surprise to pass over the Rio Grand Gorge bridge to get there and I took a quick earth ship tour before returning for a peaceful rest. Even though I was traveling alone, I felt at ease at Kenneth's place. He was a friendly and informative host.

    Jennifer2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to come to relax and not do much. The interior space is enormous for the price, and being able to stroll on the expansive property was a bonus. Kenneth was friendly and welcoming, then left me alone, which was perfect. The bed was comfortable and it's so quiet on the property that I slept wonderfully. If you're looking to be out and about a lot, be aware that Tres Piedres is a good 30 to 45 minutes from tourist attractions and even gas stations. However, there are a few good hikes closer--check at the ranger station for info.

Laura was very pleasant and informative about area. She was easy to touch base with and flexible on arrival time. All around a nice experience in this unique 'tiny home' in the country, I will stay again in the future! Cindy R.

Thanks for the great stay Laura!

  • I was on a solo motorcycle trip and just needed a place to sleep. This is a minimalist place (no running water but the owners opened their home for bathroom access). It's very quiet (no neighbors in close proximity) and far from the main highway. Just a few miles to Great Sand Dunes National Park. Has a great view of the mountains. Owners very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.

  • My boyfriend and I loved staying in this tiny home - just the right amount of space for everything and in a beautiful area. Using the bathroom in the main house was no hassle at all, and the tiny home kept us warm at night! Laura was so accommodating, we literally booked the place at 7 pm and showed up at 11 pm same day. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a country experience, there are even roosters in the morning.

The cabin is decorated with Spanish-style art work and has plenty of windows to lookout and see nature views, exceptional kitchen features, equipped with kitchenware, stove, oven, sink, refrigerator, coffeemaker, heater, bathtub and shower, clean linens, two couches, and a King size bed. Take a walk through our vast open meadow and hiking trails right outside your cabin. Pets are allowed, absolutely no smoking inside. Relax with scenic views in your own private mountain resort. However, as the unit is a little on the small side, it is recommended to book a 3-bedroom unit for four people. Here is the listing for the 3 bedroom unit: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/15869813

  • Incredibly quiet forest setting. Great accommodations; clean casita, well provided kitchen, well maintained roads for gravel. Host located on site during our visit and very warm and welcoming, responsive to our needs. Not the place to go for night life; dinner, dancing, etc. But it was just what we were looking for; a place to get away from work, life, a place to decompress. Loved it!

  • Great location for our annual hunt. It was great to come back after a long day to warmth and comfort. Also appreciate the addition of another bed to meet our needs.

  • The casita we stayed in was clean, modern, well equipped, and most importantly for us - quiet and relaxing. I would highly recommend this place for people who are wanting to "get off the grid". The closest community to get groceries was about 30 minutes away in Questa, but that worked great for us. We slept late, sat on the porch and observed nature. We also went river trout fishing about 10 minutes away. We had a great time.

  • We were there right after Christmas and before new year's eve, with 20" of snow. Some trails were trimmed to use, we do not Ski but we had sleds and it was fantastic. Not every trail was open or available to ski, but what we had was more than enough. Cell phone with T-mobile was non-existent, and AT&T was spotty with 3G, pretty much like in the rest of the county. We traveled back and forth to Red River daily, It was a 45-50 mins trip for me. The casita was adequated. It has one King bed and one Sofa Sleeper bed. Hot water was adequate for a family of 4 even during cold, cold nights. Heating works perfect and the fireplace is gas or firewood. We had firewood rigth there in our front porch. The Kitchen is good, regular size and well equipped. The wifi Internet can be improved as signal was weak in the bedroom. TV cable has many channels and the TV is a good HD TV. The place has 4 or 5 casitas together so you do not feel that alone. Roads are good. My GPS registered 3,991 ft above sea level, so its high. We walked around the place with no problems. We saw many animal tracks in the snow. The place was great for my family. We are 4 and we had lots of fun and quality time. The trails were all for us and we could stop and go as we pleased. I will definitively stay again if I have the opportunity.

  • The casita was very clean, private, and located in the beautiful mountains of northern New Mexico. We had a great time exploring the nearby area on snowshoes.

  • A few relatively-minor rough edges, but reasonably clean, conveniently located, reasonably comfortable rental house. A very good option if one's attending a family affair in Alamosa; gives the immediate and extended family a place to gather, which worked out very well for us. An attentive and engaged property owner. I'd say...oh, three and a half stars, overall.

  • Our host was great- very nice people! They greeted us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the house and made sure that we knew how all of the appliances worked and where everything was that we may have needed (towels, kitchen wear, etc...). They also called once during our trip to check-in and see that everything was going smoothly.

  • Good house, with very nice owners who allow pets. We visited in December, a very cold month for outside activities, but house has a nice deck for sitting outside to enjoy the view. You won't find anything better in Alamosa.

  • The Artsy Fun Home is delightful & very well equipped. Evelyn made us feel welcome & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our son brought his puppy & she was made to feel very welcome. The spacious house was spotlessly clean & is located near downtown Alamosa. Highly recommend this rental.

  • Evelyn and her husband George were great hosts and made our stay wonderful. The home was so comfortable and inviting and we felt so at home while we were there for a month. The property was beautiful and convenient to everything in town. It was a quite and safe place to stay and great if you have a dog or small family you want to travel with. Thanks for everything Evelyn and George. We will certainly be staying with you again next time we're in Alamosa!

  • This is a great place to "basecamp" while day tripping around Colorado. This house was clean and very accommodating for my family of 4. I loved that everyone had their own space! It was very quiet. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the Alamosa area.
