“This restaurant is situated in a historical monument. It was a manor where people would enjoy the countryside outside the city back in the days. There is a park around it. Nice for a stroll, coffee or lunch.”

“You’ll find the De Gooyer Windmill located between Funenkade and Zeeburgerstraat, next to the IJ brewery which pours traditional Dutch beers. It is about 35 minutes walking from the city center. One of Holland’s many famous windmills, the De Gooyer Windmill was used as a flour mill and dates back to the 16th century. It is one of the few remaining windmills located within Amsterdam, and is also the tallest one in the entirety of the Netherlands. Octagonal in shape, the wooden windmill was once a part of a group of five windmills located here though it is the only one remaining. It has been built, destroyed, and rebuilt over time, with its wooden facade over the original stone placed in 1814”

“Built in 1913-15, the Scheepvaarthuis is often regarded as the first building designed in the style of the Amsterdam School. This Art Deco-ish style drew on the examples from Art Nouveau and the Glasgow architecture of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The hotel that currently occupies this former joint office of multiple shipping firms has restored the building's grand style. Don't hesitate to go inside. ”
