  • Accurate description, beautiful views, Viv is an excellent & friendly host.

    Lauren2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is super sweet. It had everything I needed. Great coffee at local shop and fresh oysters at Pepper Tree restaurant only a few minutes drive. Could have walked but it was stormy. Nice view of the beach. Private enough for me. Great hot shower! internet worked well. And Viv was a kind and gracious host. I am glad I picked that spot! Thank you

  • We had a fabulous stay at Viv's bit of oasis in Coromandel! It was sad that we only stayed one night because we would have liked to spent more time socializing with Viv. She was an awesome host. Very comfortable accomdations with a spectacular view. Close to town.

    Bernie2015-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Viv's place! It was comfortable, clean, and peaceful. It was a very late notice booking, as my girlfriend and I spontaneously took a road trip to Coromandel without much planning beforehand. Viv responded to our request very quickly and when we arrived the place was very clean and well appointed. We woke up well-rested to an amazing view of the water. We only stayed one night, but if we had more time we would have loved to stay many more!

  • In spite of the weather, our stay was amazing. The place is simply beautiful, the view of the room is priceless. Sharon and her husband are very friendly, in fact she cooked some muffins for us. We could use the hot tub and enjoy the day that was really rainy. We go back next year to end our trip top cathedral cove.

  • We had a lovely two night stay at Sharon's place. The house is true to photos and description, has everything needed for a weekend or longer stay. Located on a beautiful rural property with an amazing view. Sharon is a great host she greeted us on arrival showed us in and explained what we needed to know. The house was clean, tidy and comfortable and the use of the spa pool was a wonderful treat too!

Genuine quaint Kiwi bach set in an idyllic location nestled beside a delightful stream and just across the road from the beach and boat ramp. The main bach has a modern kitchen, living space, bathroom and toilet. There are two separate cabins for sleeping. Great spot for beach and bush walks, swimming, boating and fishing or just lazing by the stream. If you're looking for a place to get away from it all, then come and spend some time in Amodeo Bay.
The main bach contains the kitchen, living / dining room, the bathroom and outside access to a composting toilet. There are two separate cabins for sleeping. Cabin one has a comfortable Queen size Sleepyhead bed and cabin two has two single beds. We offer guests the option of supplying their own sheets and towels as this reduces the load on our effluent system and (sometimes limited) water supply, however we can supply sheets, pillowcases and towels for a one off fee ($10 for a Queen set, $10 for one or two single sets and $10 for up to four towels) payable when you get here. We also ask that the bach and cabins are left in a clean and tidy condition when you vacate as we have not added a cleaning fee.
Amodeo Bay is located 17kms up the coast from Coromandel town and 10 minutes from Colville where you will find the Colville General Store for supplies, a cafe, and the Himalaya shop that is open from late October and through the summer months. Carry on from Colville and explore the top of the Coromandel Peninsula.
  • A true Kiwi bach experience beside a lovely stream across from the coast. Well set up and friendly, helpful hosts.

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Amodeo Bay and will definitely be back. The accommodation has been recently refurbished, is very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Loved the welcoming touches like flowers on the table and bedside. We enjoyed our stay so much that we wanted to add on a couple of days but couldn't. A very relaxing place to stay and just unwind, or alternatively go exploring the Coromandel. We did the trip up to Port Jackson one day, and another day to Whitianga, Hot Water Beach, Hahei & Cathedral Cove - a long day, but doable from Amodeo Bay. The bed was very comfortable and it was a delight to wake up to the sounds of the babbling brook outside. Deb & Ian are very welcoming hosts, nothing is too much trouble and they have a wealth of knowledge about the local area to share with you if required. Thank you, it was awesome.

  • If it's peace and quiet you're after, then Debbie's place is great. It's a 20 minute drive to Coromandel Town which suited us fine. The bach was spotless and comfortable

  • We had two great days at Debbie's accomodation! Everything was very clean and tidy and the area was quiet and idyllic. Just a 3 minute drive to a nice beach! We would love to come back if we're in the area again.

  • Cute little place with everything you need for a short stay. 1 cooking plate and small fridge if you want to cook yourselves. 20 min drive to Coromandel town if you want a restaurant. Bed needs replacement (very soft, makes a lot of noise and pillows as thin as paper so if you can, bring your own). Nice little beach at 5 min walk to enjoy the amazing sunsets

  • Sweet spot with gorgeous views and all the amenities. There were guests in the upstairs unit one of the nights we stayed and we could hear most everything going on up there (not because they were too loud, just because the space is so small and close). If you're a light sleeper or sensitive to other folks' noise, a unit that isn't split might be a better bet. Otherwise the place was awesome and we enjoyed the noises of the sheep and beautiful birds outside our window.

    Lauren2017-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place up in the hills. Very relaxing listening to the rain fall down on the tin roof at night. Chris was friendly and attentive and the place is built to host! Great weekend trip!

  • I am a french student, living in Auckland just for a semester. We spent a week end in Coromandel with three friends of mine and we definitely enjoyed ourselves. We couldn't have found a better place to stay. This farm is absolutely fantastic. Waking up in a comfy, cozy cottage in the middle of cows and surrounded by mountains and large fields is definitely the best feeling for any nature-lover. It's peaceful and quiet, perfect for a relaxing week end with friends and family. As the property is so large, there is an endless diversity of landscapes there : from fields to high mountains, rivers and waterfalls, we enjoyed a nice hike across the farm. At some places, the panorama is absolutely stunning. We also enjoyed a nice two - hours horse ride across the fields and down on the beach. Friendly hosts and horses ! Not too far from a small yet beautiful sand beach, it's a very nice place for a picnic or just a relaxed afternoon. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys nature and who desires to take a break from the busy and noisy city life. I don't regret anything about our week end, except the fact that we did not stay long enough !

    Bianca2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very nice place to stay when visiting the Coromandel. Lovely cottage, top location and excellent facilities. Highly recommended.

  • We had a great time in Colville. The house was clean and inviting and the location was stunning. We went with 4 adults 2 babies and 3 dogs and we all enjoyed a relaxing stay. I'm sure we'll be back again some time soon :)

    Sayaka2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The stay and house itself were great. Very nice country feel with cows right outside. Beautiful porch views and the stars at night were SPECTACULAR. Didn't have the time to take advantage of any of the hikes, they were all very long. There was little instructions given when it came to check-in and no directions at all for checking out. But they are very friendly and answer any questions you have, you just have to reach out. Would definitely recommend this place; especially because of the price!

  • This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a bit of time off the beaten track. Coleville is quite far north in the Coromandel, so you will drive the breath-taking and at times hair-raising coastal road to get there. Our family liked the vintage caravan, which was well-maintained and well-supplied, and the location was beautiful. The bathroom was immaculate, the wifi worked very well, the linens were soft and cozy, and the caravan was warm with the heater running. As I had injured my leg earlier that week, we changed our plans and only stayed one night instead of two, but I'm glad we made the drive up and had a night there. It was gorgeous and a nice mini-adventure for our kids. Note: the water in the caravan is untreated, so you may want to boil it or bring bottled water.

  • Beautiful spot in Colville, quite secluded and very quiet. The farm was wonderful and good for walks and exploring. Caravan was great for our short stay. Bathrooms are separate to the caravan and shared with others staying on the farm.

  • The campervan was in the middle of a field with the view of mountains it was really nice when you take your breakfast outside. It was a bit cold so we put on the mattress heater and it was nice, the only thing was that the mattress was a bit thin and on a wood bedspring so it hurt the back a bit, there is nice little beaches around and maps in the caravan to show you what to do around. It was a nice peaceful stay !

  • The hut is really the tip for you all if you all plan to stay here. I was speechless: I alone with hut? But it was best time. I can hiking, cycle and more much... really good local! I can advice you all to visit this.

    David2017-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a place to stay, wish we had more time to explore and had the right gear to do so, next time we'll be prepared and maybe do it when the weather is warmer. If you like the country side and being in the forest and looking to explore then this is for you. Also don't fret over crossing the creek as we did, we were in a small little Mazda and thought there was no chance and we would need a 4x4. luckily two kids came to our "rescue" and insured us all would be good. I would also recommend you get supplies before tracking to the cabin so to not waste time driving back to the shop.

    Greg2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place was quiet, clean. Would recommend!

    wang2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and comfortable but kinda in the middle of nowhere. Managed to get lost on one of the hikes which was super nice but we couldn't find our way back for hours and couldn't get ahold of the host, even afterwards.

Just outside the door you have bush and scenic walks, waterfalls, horsetrekking, swimming down in the creek and healing and tasty Manuka honey for sale. And it's only 2-10 mins drive away from the beach, cafes, general store, farm store, art & craft shops, medical centre, library and tennis courts. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space (1260ha of it) and the equal amounts of character and comfort. My place is good for families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
Our older but comfy 4 bedroom home is cool in summer but cosy warm in winter especially with the woodstove going. 2 bedrooms are inside the house and there are 2 bedrooms adjoining the bathroom which is across the metre-wide verandah from the kitchen. When there are more than 4 people staying, the other bathroom will be available to use. It's about 10 metres around the outside of the house There's no deck but the BBQ table on the lawn outside is perfect for cooking on the BBQ, supping a wine or two and stargazing at night (no light pollution here !!) Or during the day it's neat to see the Hereford cattle grazing on the paddocks with the mountains in the background.
  • Cows, hills, awsome stars at night, nice house, sunset at the beach, great walks... perfect, 100% holiday-feeling.

    iris2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely beautiful location. Close to all that the Coromandel offers, while having it's own, private scenic walks. Fabulous original farm house, very clean and well appointed, with TV and WiFi. I was on my own and loved it, but easily accommodates a family or 2 - even has a washing machine. Will be sad to leave, but intend to return.

    Guy2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ngaires place was well equipped and had plenty of space, particularly in the living areas. It's in a nice quiet valley 30 mins north of coromandel town, perfect if you're after some tranquility! Thanks!

    Katherine2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The farmhouse is simple but comfortable, and the farm is so incredibly beautiful. We rode horses, pet lambs, did some gorgeous hikes, and found the location restful and serene.

    domitille2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The farm is great and offers a walk to the old goldmine where you can find some glowworms. It was a nice and quiet time there.

    Jochi2017-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ngaire replies extremely quick to messages and communication was easy. Rustic farm house but with reliable wi-fi. Stayed with 5 adults and 2 children, more than sufficient space for all. Stayed during summer but house should be fine for winter as well. Two toilets are available when there's many occupants, one located outside the front door and the other round the house, both with heaters. Beds are comfortable and bedsheets as well as blankets are provided. Cooking utensils and cutleries are plentiful. Kitchen has two stoves, one with an oven, fridge and freezer. Toaster and microwave oven (unable to get it to work though).

A sunny guesthouse close to the bush, the beach, a waterfall and spring water pools. There is abundant bird life, and the air and water are clean and fresh. We are very close to a beautiful beach that is white sand and safe for swimming. We are within an eco village that is run solely on solar power and is a quiet and restful retreat space. A piece of paradise perfect for total relaxation.
The guesthouse has only recently been built so it is new and clean and a sunny restful place to stay in. It is decorated with my fabric art and the colors throughout are bright and cheerful. You can sit on the sunny deck and admire the bush views and watch the native birds fly by and listen to the sound of the fresh water stream that comes from the waterfall and runs through the property. The guesthouse is self contained with a detached composting toilet and a solar hot water shower.
We are very close to the beautiful Waikawau Bay which is a white sand safe swimming beach of absolute beauty. Colville is the nearest village (which is half an hours drive north of Coromandel town) and then 20 minutes to Karuna.
  • What a beautiful spot, secluded and private. Surrounded by beautiful beaches and bush. Warm welcome and lovely guest house! Thanks for hosting us!

  • Thank you so much for barbel's kind help. We apologized about the late. She kindly explained to us. The place is so good and quiet. Nice experience. Thanks

    2017-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Barbel is a very helpful and sociable host who makes you feel at home in her guesthouse, an excellent base to explore the north of Coromandel, highly recommended.

    Joachim2016-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice, calm place in the nature. You have everything what you need there and the accommodation looks fabulous. Definitely a place to stay on the way up north or just to be away from the civilisation :)

    Klaus2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Barbel's place. She was very friendly, helpful and welcoming to us. We felt like we had found a perfect getaway from it all, a little slice of heaven you might say. It was a very peaceful place and has wonderful little natural swimming/picnic spots around the area and beautiful beaches close by. If you really want to get a way and relax, enjoy a tranquil setting with the sound of bird song, and you don't mind a compost toilet, then this is a perfect place. It has a well equipped small kitchen and very comfortable bed and the furnishings are beautiful. The deck area is lovely, you feel like you are in a tree house overlooking the tree tops.

    Fiona2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Bärbel's place is truly unique and a real gem hidden away in NZ's native bush. For anyone who doesn't know the area that well, be advised that the north of Coromandel is quite remote with the last petrol station being in Colville and if you're an unexperienced driver on mountain roads a four-wheel drive might help on the gravel roads. Thanks for having us, Bärbel!

  • We had a great time staying in the Pine House! Mark was a wonderful host, when we arrived he made us a fire (the house is a bit chilly in the winter), and delicious pastries, and left us persimmons as well. The house has a wonderful outdoor shower! The kitchen is spacious and the bedroom is quite cozy. The house is great for people looking for a rustic getaway— there are amazing views of the stars at night and the surroundings are quiet and beautiful.

  • Heather's place is lovely! The apartment is clean, spacious, and stocked with all the necessities (we really appreciated the bread, milk, yogurt, and packets of butter/jam!), not to mention the view is absolutely stunning! The bed was really comfortable. It was just my partner and I, but the space is definitely large enough for 1-2 more people. We struggled to find the unit at first, even though Heather provides amazing step-by-step check in instructions, so I would recommend looking at the "Check In Process" photos she sends you! :) I would definitely recommend Heather's place!

Our room was beautiful, clean and tidy, as was our bathroom. We had a delicious breakfast in the morning, with lots of variety and plenty of it. We even got recommendations on where to go and what to do from Pat which was so helpful. Her gorgeous dog Jess is so lovely and we enjoyed having a cuddle before we left! this is a small but charming self-contained studio in a secluded spot beside Ara Manawa stream. Driving Creek Cafe is 5 mins walk, Driving Creek Railway 10 mins walk. Suits 1 person or a couple. Naomi's property has many medicinal herbs which are harvested for making fresh plant tinctures or dried in the herb drier for teas. The free range chickens will be curious about you; Bella the dog loves to lie on your doorstep and Bad Boy Jinsky will be waiting to run up the ladder to the mezzanine.
There is an outside flush toilet shared with the Wwoofers (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) . You climb a ladder to get to the mezzanine bed. The shower is in Naomi's house nearby. Pets are welcome as long as they can coexist with the chooks, no dogs inside.

Yes, it’s rustic, so don’t expect some sanitised, 100% spotless environment. It would t feel right any other way. I would suggest bringing a mosquito repellent since it’s nice to leave windows open for fresh air. We had a lovely time there and would definitely recommend!

  • If you care about the environment, you will love this place. It's not advertised as an eco-retreat, but I would definitely describe it as such. Naomi's Buddhist care and compassion come across in how she treats her land, her animals and her guests.

  • Comfy and cosy space, such a beautiful home and location. We found the place really easily as its well signposted. Wonderful views and close to town and driving creek. We loved it! And loved all the little stick insects dancing about in the garden

  • The place is an excellent spot to stay in Coromandel. 2 mins drive from Coromandel town. Well-equipped, Solar powered house with an excellent view of the bay. It is a thoughtfully decorated house with personalised touches. Ideal for families to stay. Bedrooms are good size. Clean place. Being Summer, it was really hot, no fans or cooling appliances available. We found it really hard to sleep the night because of heat. We could not leave the windows open because of the mosquitoes and bugs would anyways not let us sleep. Also no mosquito repellent device was available. Either the host needs to add some cooling fans or guest need to carry their own.

A modest, but cosy, two bedroom home nestled in a private cliff-top corner surrounded by stunning nature. Experience what guests have described as 'spectacular', 'one of a kind', 'breathtaking', and 'magical' views.
Coromandel Bay-view experience is a sunny, cliff-top bungalow with two double bedrooms, an open plan living area, two decks, and a newly renovated bathroom. It's located on a peninsula overlooking two bays and the Pacific Ocean. Watch the sun set over distant islands and enjoy NZ nature at its best. For those driving, there is ample parking for the car and it is located only a short drive (5 minutes) along gorgeous coast line to historic Coromandel Township. Close by is Wyuna Bay, which is a lovely swimming spot at the end of the road, or take a walk to the Long Bay Beach (about 25 minutes). For those wanting to shamelessly chill, we have a growing library of DVD's and books, wireless internet, a gas bbq, and a Breville infuser coffee maker. The kitchen is well equipped and chef friendly with a herb and spice rack to get creative with. Kick back, relax and enjoy the ever changing views!
Explore the old gold mining town of Coromandel and take part in any number of activities nearby including: fishing tours, kayak adventures, bush walks and hikes, mussel barge snapper safaris, sail charters, kayak fishing and the famous driving creek railway - an open train ride through gorgeous rain forest. The train stops at a spectacular view point where you can look across the peninsula. Kids will love Water Works which is a quirky theme park with fun water gadgets and inventions to play with. Visit award-winning restaurants (such as the Pepper Tree) and great cafes in the township. Umu is a perfect breakfast/brunch spot, and it is not uncommon to see people helicopter in to the famous Mussel Kitchen for lunch or dinner in summer. The Driving Creek Cafe is also a great spot to have brunch or lunch. For adventurers looking to explore further afield, the location is a great base for checking out both the northern and eastern side of the peninsula. To the North, New Chum's Beach (15 km away), was voted one of the top 20 deserted beaches in the world by The Observer, and highly rated by the Lonely Planet and National Geographic. Favorite tourist spots on the east coast include Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove Marine Reserve (featured in rapper Macklemore's music video). Or relax and unwind at a natural geothermal spa and springs near Whitianga. The east coast is also home to some of New Zealand's most pristine, white sand beaches, and a popular holiday destination for New Zealanders. To get to Coromandel Town from the airport or from Auckland city, there are a number of options: The fastest option is to fly with Flystark - $175 NZ per person (minimum 2 people). It takes only 20 minutes from Auckland International Airport. You can also catch the ferry from Auckland city with the company 360 Discovery Cruises. It takes 2 hours. A free bus will pick you up from the wharf in Coromandel and take you in to town. There are also shuttle vans that come to Coromandel Town - The company is called Go Kiwi. It takes 3 hours. Finally there is a bus company called Intercity. It takes 4.5 hours (with a stopover in Thames). Intercity also goes to other parts of NZ from Coromandel Town, such as Whitianga, Thames, Rotorua etc. Once in the town, the information center in Coromandel Town can help arrange tours and transportation to areas on the peninsula. A rental car facility is also located in the township and at Auckland airport. It is quite possible to get around without a car (as we do) - by walking and calling a taxi every now and then! But adventurers may want to hire a car. Please note that we have a two-day minimum stay in January. We strongly advise early bookings for December and January as bookings start coming in as early as February. We also have a minimum two day stay for weekends in February. However, for those wishing to stay only one night we can organize a slightly higher price to cover extra cleaning and linen costs. If it's a special day for one of your favorite people and you would like to arrange flowers/cake etc, please let us know. Our property manager may be able to organize something! Small children must be supervised at all times outdoors and on both decks. 私の家に興味を持ってくれてありがとう。 日本語での対応が可能ですので、些細なことでも遠慮せずにメールしてください。 お待ちしています。

  • We had such a wonderful stay at this bach. Absolutely stunning views, and a great spot - rain or shine (we definitely had both extremes)! Good location just six minutes from Coromandel town. The bach was very clean and tidy. A great DVD collection. Communication with the owners and property manager was friendly and easy and key pick up/drop off was straight forward. Thanks so much! We would definitely stay here again.

  • Really enjoyable stay - great views and the wood burning stove kicked out loads of heat and made a very cosy focal point. Great place for a winter break with lots of DVDs to watch and Coromandel Town just a short drive away. Would deffo stay again.

  • I had a wonderful time here at the Bach - the views and location were both as described - beautiful and serene! The amenities of the Bach were great and provided all the comforts of home. Would highly recommend staying here - if only I had more time...

  • The view is breathtaking. I could not capture it in a photo. I would have liked to book longer but it was already booked. Just great.

  • Sunsets and amazing views. If you like these, this is the place for you! The house is cosy and comfortable and set in the most peaceful spot. We spent hours on the deck listening to the sea, birdsong and watching the horizon. The surrounding area has so much to offer. Whether you're looking for walks, adventure, local amenities, history, food and wine, beaches, or scenic drives, this place has got it all. Dawn and Peter are amazingly knowledgeable and approachable hosts – they couldn't have been more helpful in assisting us to plan and enjoy our stay. They responded to messages straightaway and their tips for best restaurants, beaches and day trips were perfect for us on our honeymoon. If you're looking to get away from technology and the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Wyuna Bay is ideal. Thank you and see you next time!

    Chris2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing! The views are simply breathtaking and the house is perfect! It's modern and cozy and we enjoyed spending time just staring out at the water. It's a perfect place to vacation! If you're not familiar with this area, which we weren't, just remember things close early here during the off season so make sure you have what you need before settling in. But our stay here was perfect and we will definitely be back again!

Private, quiet & relaxed country cabin for one guest or couples, a great alternative to a tent. Coromandel Town is a short drive away for your shopping needs, restaurants, and pubs. Close to boat ramp and beaches. 230 volt power for appliances.
We offer a small but cozy little cabin for couples to relax and enjoy their country surroundings. There is a very comfortable queen size bed with linen supplied. Table and chairs. Kitchenette with crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. The cabin has a microwave & a small fridge to keep your milk, butter etc cold. A separate little cabin has a hot shower, hand basin and a chemical cassette toilet. The Cabin is located up a quiet little road, on our 3 acre lifestyle block. We have about 15 coloured sheep, (lambs in the spring time), a couple of miniature horses and two resident cats - who will more than likely pay you a visit. This is a great place to make your base while you explore the scenery and fabulous activities the Coromandel has to offer.
Walk for about 2 minutes up the road and you will enter a beautiful pine forest with amazing views of the sea and islands surrounding Coromandel Town. You may also stumble across an old miners hut and the entrances to some old mine shafts (not to be entered), relics from Coromandel's gold-mining days. Driving Creek Railway, one of Coromandel's biggest tourist attractions, is just a 10 minute walk away. Wind your way up through the native forest on a narrow gauge mountain railway to the 'Eyeful Tower', a viewing platform overlooking Coromandel Town and beyond.
  • This place is absolutely amazing! The cabin had everything we needed (and more), it was so comfortable and clean. We cooked all our meals here and there was everything we needed like pots, pans, cutlery, a gas cooker, microwave etc. Donna and Alan were so welcoming and kind, absolutely fantastic hosts. There was even a book made by Donna full of all the adventures to do around the Coromandel. Would recommend to anyone to stay here!!

  • Lovely quiet position in a little bay with beautiful view, just around the peninsular from Coromandel town. Comfy bed sitting room and useful kitchen, with a balcony facing the view, in fact view is seen when lying in bed! Great to have window mesh to keep the bugs out but allow windows to be left open, a welcome surprise! You do need a car to reach this property, or a boat!! Fishing from a boat seems very popular! A great place to chill out for three days. Thank you!

  • Julie was very accommodating; she kept in touch ahead of my arrival via messages, and provided her phone number in case I needed it. When I arrived at 'Beneath the Southern Cross,' I was taken aback by the AMAZING views from the Fantail Wing bedroom and patio. Located just outside Coromandel Town (on the West side of the peninsula), I can't imagine a better view could be found. The bedroom was bright, yet cozy, and breakfast provided daily was lovely. Julie provided me with recommendations on where to eat in town, and activities throughout the Peninsula. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Haley2016-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and Graeme are absolutely wonderful hosts. They are incredibly welcoming and have really thought of everything so that guests enjoy their stay. They gave us a bottle of wine on arrival and had prepared a pack containing information about local attractions, walks and restaurants in the area. Graeme also kindly offered to lend us his kayak, fishing materials and even gave me a signed copy of his book. We loved getting to know them over breakfast each morning. -- This all added to make this our best ever Airbnb experience!! The room is lovely and has a comfy bed, nice window bench seating, brand new and silent air conditioning, tea & coffee facilities, mini fridge, wardrobes, full length mirrors and large windows with the most remarkable 360' view of the beautiful Coromandel. The bathroom is compact with a shower which had good pressure. The location for us was a perfect base for exploring the Coromandel. It's quiet and not far from the towns restaurants. New Chums beach is around 30 minutes drive, Opito Bay is about 45 mins. Hahei and Cathedral Cove are also around 90 mins drive, as is the start of the Coromandel Costal Walkway. There's lots of fun off-road drive experiences too! We had an amazing stay and one day would absolutely love to come back. Thank you Julie and Graeme for creating a really special moment in time for us. Xx

Lovely 2-bedroom cottage with double bed and two twin beds; a quiet getaway in a scenic, secluded setting, a 2.5-kilometre stroll from town centre. Enjoy your morning coffee surrounded by beautiful gardens, listening to the birdsong of native New Zealand Tui and Bellbirds. Relax in the morning or afternoon sun and experience glorious sunsets from the deck with wonderful views of the Coromandel Harbour and bush-clad Coromandel hills.
Throw open the sliding doors and enjoy this truly indoor outdoor house. Enjoy your meals al fresco on either of the expansive decks or in the courtyard patio. The kitchen windows fold back for wonderful views and provide a convenient pass-through for meals. Your choice of deck and your choice of view: Coromandel Harbour to the west and the Coromandel hills to the north. Depending upon the week, sheep may be found grazing in the adjacent paddock. Kereru, the native New Zealand pigeon, can be found perched on the native yellow-flowering Kowhai trees near the cottage. The Kereru is a large bird with iridescent green and bronze feathers on its head and back and a smart white vest. The noisy beat of its feathers is a distinctive sound in our forests (bush). Traditionally hunted by Maori for its meat and feathers, hunting of the bird is now illegal. In the winter, snuggle under fluffy duvets and premium sheets. Dual-control electric blankets (aka electric mattress pads) make the beds toasty warm. Electric towel warmers can be found in both of the bathrooms. The well-equipped kitchen, stocked with a variety of oils and spices, coffee and teas, make cooking a special meal a pleasure. In season, help yourself to fresh herbs from the garden and fresh fruit from the orchard. There are Award-Winning restaurants and cafes in town for those who prefer to experience the local fare. World-reknowned local green-lipped mussels and oysters are widely available.
Coromandel has a well known arts community with many local potters, painters, weavers, fabric artists, woodworkers and glassblowers, many with open studios. Kereru Cottage has the work of many Kiwi artists on display. The Source, an artists' cooperative, the Weka Gallery and Driving Creek Railway and Potteries feature pieces by local artists. There are Open Studio Arts Tour Weekends in the Spring or Autumn. Gold was first discovered in New Zealand in 1852 in nearby Driving Creek, and the School of Mines Museum and Gold Stamper Battery provide local history. Hiking tracks through the native bush are within walking distance of the cottage. The beautiful white sand beaches of Whangapoua, New Chums and Matarangi are a short drive. For more immersion in the local community, join up with the local art groups, embroiderers, walking groups or many other organizations that meet weekly. The local iSITE (Information Centre) and monthly Coromandel Town Chronicle have more specific information. For the fishermen, ride the local mussel barge on a charter to fish at the mussel beds or take a charter to deeper waters in the gulf.
  • The place is a little slice of (Website hidden by Airbnb) rained consistently for the first day but it didn’t dampen our visit because it was such a lovely place to relax and unwind. • Don't hesitate to book this home. Wind, rain or shine, it's an amazing place to stay: peaceful, serene and clean! Our ten month old loved rolling around the large living space - but if he was a few years older, he would have enjoyed running around the gorgeous green space surrounding the house. Also a great base for the peninsula's sights. Mary Pat was a great host: excellent communication, easy-to-follow instructions on getting to the property, and great suggestions on what to see and do locally.

    Teena2017-11-05T00:00:00Z

“Everyone should go to Coromandel to visit it´s amazing beaches, beautiful landscapes and to meet Jeff. I stayed with my boyfriend for three nights and It was great. The rooms are great, his house is beautiful; he has an amazing garden and two incredible dogs. Jeff is a very smart person with an excellent ironic sense of humor that will ensure you will have a great time. I will definitely recommend staying at Jeff´s place; it was one of our best experience in New Zealand.
This is a traditional Kiwi house that has been modernised to a high standard. There are several places outside you can sit and relax. It's a 5 minute stroll to town. The house is right next door to the Museum. I love cooking, I'm happy to provide a really really scrummy dinner for $20pp. Please let me know if you would like an evening meal or a cooked breakfast. This room has a shared bathroom, if you want an ensuite room please look at my other listing.
It's very quiet, you'll see lots of stars.
  • I couldn’t have ask for a better stay here. Jeff’s house is very clean and warm, close to the shops, the wi fi works excellent. Try the dinner option! Thanks for being so nice with me Jeff!!!!

  • Our stay was wonderful. Well thought out design. Peaceful and relaxing. The outside shower was my favorite and the long window to the left that looks out at the beautiful ponga trees. I would definitely recommend this place and would probably try the Bali room when we return

    Ashlie2017-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the setting and the birds and garden, a very special place. Enjoyed the Balinese open air pavilion, in the garden with it's little wooden Balinese windows, water feature and peaceful ambience. The outdoor shower was a treat, a very clever unique set up. Great warm hospitality and there was a warm welcome even though we arrived very late from AKL airport at midnight! Thanks so much for having us.

  • We've had a fantastic time at Diane's place! She's really made this a very special place where it's easy to relax and enjoy nature. We loved the boathouse and the outside shower is a cool experience. And we spend a lot of time in the communal area which is a balinese style building beautifully surrounded by palmtrees and flowers. The owner Diane is a superfriendly host who makes your stay very easy. The cafe across the road is hip, has good coffee and sells second hand books. We've spend our time here with a baby of 1 and i can definetely recommend that. This place offers a lot more than just a private room. Thank you Diane! We had a great time!

  • Diana was an amazing host, friendly and very obliging. The Eco sanctuary is beautifully landscape in native bush in Balinese style, very relaxing.Good location opposite the scenic railway station, and a two minute walk to a cafe and 5min drive back into town. Highly recommend

  • We stayed in the boathouse over Christmas and couldn't think of a better place to spend our first summertime Christmas. We were enchanted by the Bali style eco sanctuary and barely left the place because it was so relaxing to sit in the lush garden and listen to the birds. Diane, the owner, lives just opposite of the boathouse. She gave us a warm welcome, was very supportive and lovely to talk to. Thank you for the beautiful time!

  • I highly recommend the Coromandel Eco Sanctuary! I was blown away by the amazing space - both the Bali Room and the common area. Everything was immaculate and the atmosphere was incredibly blissful. Perfect for a quiet getaway! Thanks so much for sharing a lovely space! :)

  • Cute, clean, quaint place.

Within walking distance of Coromandel Town (5 minutes) yet in a secluded spot surrounded by countryside, the best of both worlds. A quiet and cozy home away from home atmosphere. The main room is large with a Queen size bed and a single bed as well as a table and chairs, microwave and fridge and kitchen requirements. There is a foyer area between the main room and the private bathroom/laundry - handy for storing jackets, boots and outdoors gear. Free unlimited WiFi. Acoustic guitar, if you play.
The studio accommodation is set up so that you have your own private space to come and go, with everything you need. It is a perfect retreat for a couple, with room for an extra adult or child. Three guests maximum
On the property there are 2 houses, so there is one immediate neighbour and also the hostess home which is semi detached from your accommodation. There is a stream adjacent and a reserve across the road that has access to the stream. There is ample parking across the street
  • This was first time for me to use Air bnb service. Abby responded so quickly and she advised me about road condition, it was so helpful.(at that time we couldn't come Coromandel town through Thems.) Her room was so clean and tidy. All applicants were prepared there and we felt comfortable always. Abby's room was so nice place to stay.

  • We stayed one night with my dad at Abby's place and really liked the athmosphere there. The room was tidy and nicely decorated and the coromandel town's main street was located only a short walk away. Abby welcomed us warmly and gave us tips on things to do in the area and restaurants.

    Daniela2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful, peaceful and relaxing place. Thanks Abby

    Fergus2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Abby's place is truly a haven, surrounded by greenery, and with a space to sit outside. The bed is really comfortable, the bathroom has lovely toiletries, and Abby is a really thoughtful hostess. Self check-in was easy as I arrived late. It's worth scheduling a massage into your stay - Abby truly has healing hands.

  • The night was relaxed and cozy. Rooms are nicely decorated and clean. Abby is very friendly and helped us immediatly with small questions. Highly recommend!

  • Abby's Haven is a lovely spot on a quiet street in Coromandel Town. She also offers massages and facials and I took advantage of a wonderfully restorative facial. The suite had a large private bath with plenty of hot water, and the kitchen/dining amenities worked well for us. Abby is a warm and welcoming hostess and shared tips on exploring the area, which we also appreciated.
