  • Great townhouse in the center of town. I love this sleepy town and all it has to offer. The house was beautiful and perfect for the two of us. We will definitely be back very soon!

  • We had a wonderful stay in this lovely home. It was so clean, comfortable, and warm. We loved having the bikes available for getting around town and enjoying the Tammany Trace. I would absolutely recommend a stay here, and I'd like to revisit.

  • The house was lovely, and spacious, even though it is only one bedroom. Four of us stayed quite comfortably. It was very convenient to the park and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

    Margaret2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • I was the first guest to stay here, so maybe the kinks just needed to be worked out, but I definitely had people coming into the guesthouse more than one for various reasons. Once was to hang curtains, because the front door was glass and the sofa is a pull out bed. A second time, the gentleman who lives in the main house came into the guesthouse to drop off am additional curtain panel without notifying me or asking my permission. I only knew he did it, because the curtain appeared. A third time, it was the owner herself, who knocked, but I didn't answer because I was on a very important phonecall. So instead, she went to let herself into the guesthouse without my permission or having given me any warning that she was coming over. She piddled around in the house for a bit, with me there, used the bathroom, put stuff in the closet, and left. Also, a new roof was being put on the main house during my stay (which I did not know in advance that this would happen), so I was unable to park under the carport for 4 days, plus I had to put up with bricks being thrown off the house into the yard, as well as asbestos tiles and all manner of debris. The trailer parked under the carport was parked so close to the fence that I had to turn sideways and squeeze between the trailer and the fence if I didn't want to get dirty. Plus, there was a slew of strangers running around just outside my front door for that time. Definitely did not make the last part of my stay very pleasant. I think future guests will have a better experience though, since these seemed to be early growing pains.

  • While I've never communicated with Ann, I had a good experience with Emily and Derek. The lines of communication were easy and quick. They allowed us the utmost privacy (something we greatly value as we travel so often for work), and they also allowed our traveling partner (Harper the Great Dane) to stay. This little home is well updated, seems like new construction throughout, with a nearly new kitchen (with gas stove), bath (with a small soaker tub) and living areas. The wifi is quite reliable, and there are some satellite channels (about what you would have in a hotel, minus the movie channels). The house has large windows and gets lots of natural light. The only thing I would caution about is the doorway to the bathroom is quite tight. My husband is 6'4" with big broad shoulders and he had to turn sideways to walk through the doorway. I had no problems, but I'm much more petite at 5'2"! The neighborhood is walkable, although there are only two streets with actual sidewalks (that I found), most people around town just walk their dogs along the side streets and through the cute little town square. You can walk to restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, parks, to get ice cream and a few groceries, as well. There's a fun farmer's and crafter's market on the weekends, too, and a little produce stand in the town square. Abita is a family friendly little town with lots and lots of character, adorable restored homes and friendly people. PS. I recommend the BBQ chicken pizza from Mama D's! Yum!

  • When you travel it's a bit of an unknown adventure, though we were pleasantly surprised by the cottage it had everything we could ever need or want; they've thought of it all for you! Sparkling clean, private and quiet, and even a yard for the dogs to play. Looking forward to staying here again.

Previously a garage, this 400sf space was completely remodeled and enlarged this year. It has the original brick floors, a separate bedroom area, living room with leather sofa, recliner, bistro table with 2 chairs, computer desk & chair, a kitchen area, and a large full bath with closet. We are on a secluded acre lot just one block from the Tammany Trace, a 31 mile paved bike/walking path and we do have loaner bikes available.
There is a step up to the bathroom from the rest of the living space. There is a micro-wave, small frig/freezer, and a Keurig coffeemaker, but no stove or oven. Dishes, flatware, glasses, and basic utensils are included. We don't serve breakfast but do provide coffee, tea, and breakfast snacks. Also, although we don't allow smoking in our home or guesthouse, you are welcome to smoke on the grounds and the patio. Please use the ashtrays provided!
The heart of Abita Springs is a short walk/ride away and has restaurants, museums, a grocery store, tavern, bakery, park, and more. There are many things to do on the north shore of New Orleans. We have fine dining, shopping, concerts, biking, fishing, swamp tours, canoeing/kayaking, just to name a few. For more information, please check out our tourist commission at LouisianaNorthshore. Com

Cozy room in beautiful neighborhood in Covington, Louisiana. Guest Bed/ Bath completely private. Shared access to living area, kitchen and laundry. Enjoy the serenity of the private back yard with covered patio and outdoor kitchen. Only 45 min to New Orleans and 1 hour to Baton Rouge.
Great area that has a quiet country feel yet is close to town and just a short drive across the lake to New Orleans. Close access to Tammany Trace for running or bicycling.
Quiet friendly neighborhood. Great area to take a walk, run or bike ride. Close to great restaurants and shopping.
  • They went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable and relaxed even though we came so late at night. The house was great and the room was clean and the bed was really comfortable. They told us all about the area and where to visit. Plus the neighborhood was quiet and really peaceful.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Paula and Scott's. We were there for 10 days. Our bedroom and bathroom were on one side of their home which made it very private. They allowed full use of their kitchen, laundry, and beautiful outside patio. Their home is located in a nice, quiet, semi-private neighborhood. We wish we were able to spend more social time with them although we did get to spend one fun evening with them on their outdoor patio. They are fantastic hosts! They are approximately 45-60 minutes from New Orleans. There are many great restaurants in their town and nearby Abita Springs. We even became regulars for breakfast at Abita Springs cafe'. I let Scott know that if the need ever arose again we would definitely stay at their home. Oh, one last thing, Ginger is their lovable dog and she is extremely friendly but not bothersome. She comes to you if you call her. All in all we could not have anticipated a better experience.

    Allen2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Paula and Scott are a lovely couple. Their home is inviting and offers a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect place for stopping after a long day on the road! I would stay with them again without hesitation and recommend their place to my friends and family.

  • Great place, quiet and great hosts. Would recomend it to anyone.

    Alejandro2016-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Close to the action but away and quiet at the same time. Paula and Scott are very good hosts. I will stop in again.

    Bill2017-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Paula and Scott are very friendly, accommodating and offered referrals to places to visit when we asked. Conversations flowed easily and were entertaining. Their home is clean, quiet, comfortable and nicely furnished. Sitting in their back yard in the evening was very relaxing. We are looking forward to a future return stay.

    Lea2017-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed for one night to see New Orleans. It was about 45 minutes away from Scott and Paula's place. Scott attended us and helped us with our bags and let us store some things in their fridge. Very nice place to stay for the night or even longer.

    Janelle2017-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Scott and Paula were lovely hosts. Their home is beautiful, and that back porch! It was such a shame it was too hot to enjoy it fully. This was a great place for me to post up during my workshop in Covington.

Awesome home with king size master bed, queen guest bed, double reclining leather couch. Huge HD TVs. Office/workout area. Mountain bikes and easy access to St. Tammany Trace. (Bike to 3 different breweries.) Located 1 hour north of New Orleans and 1 hour east of Baton Rouge.
    Ultra comfortable
No crime, outdoorsy, near LSU and New Orleans, easy going, great food and drink.
  • Stayed here for a weekend wedding at Abita Brewery. House was easy to find, a quick 5 minutes to Abita Brewey, and minutes away from cute downtown Covington. Derek was very communicative yet laid back and flexible to our plans. His house is so comfortable and has such awesome entertainment options that you almost don't want to leave! But Abita Brewery is must-do and Covington was way more fun than we honestly expected! Our men got shaves and haircuts at North Shore Hair Salon that were so dapper that they plan to come back as often as possible to keep the look going. Food at Del Porto was phenomenal, fun bar and band at Tap Room, and the strongest drive thru daiquiris ever at Daiquiris and Creams. Derek left a list of places to hit up, and now we want to come back and visit them all!

    Kelly2016-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a GREAT experience! Derek was a wonderful, informative host. His house was spotless and what we had hoped (URL HIDDEN) husband is fanatical so I was thrilled he was pleased with the house! A few of my favorites: the couch (I loved that it reclined - on both sides and I could work on my laptop) and the master bed - it was extremely comfortable. The shades were on the light side so we woke up early - an idea I warmed up to after a day or two but originally didn't like. Suggest a stand alone fan to drown out the noise from local busy street behind house - It worked perfectly ! Loved the wooden floors! Felt clean!! The kitchen was wonderful and had all of the amenities we needed. I was appreciate he left whole milk in the refrigerator because we didn't take the time to go the store the night before and we really needed milk for our coffee. He had mentioned in his notes that if we needed anything - just replace- which we did. We would recommend and would surely stay there again! Also appreciated extra charges for iPhones left in house - a nice touch !

    Bridget2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • The listing was very accurate. Our host kept in constant communication with us. There was plenty or room for me, my sister, and my son.

    Mary2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • House was a small, well kept, 2 bedroom place. Great couches and entertainment system, including Xbox 1, that my kids loved.

    Chad2016-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in a quiet neighborhood; nice yard for our dog. Derek was a great host who checked in with us periodically. We would stay here again!

    Tara2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Derek's home was perfect for our weekend in Abita Springs. Our favorite part of the trip was being able to bike from the house to The Abita Brewery. The house was very clean, had everything we needed, and Derek responded quickly to any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this place to friends!

    Teal2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Derek is a thoughtful host. He left instructions for his home and suggestions for places to check out. His home is bigger than what we thought and very comfortable. We are very happy with our stay.

    Janie2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately the high end electronics didn't cover up the dirty bathrooms, kitchen and floors. My wife and I had to clean the first night there after a cross country trip. The toilets were not sanitary nor was the shower. The only thing worse than urine on the toilets was the shower drain that backed up. Standing in 2 inches of water in essentially a public shower was more than I could stand. When I notified the owner, he said the shower would eventually drain. Fortunately, he dropped off drain cleaner and light bulbs the next day. Did I mention there was probably a dozen dead light bulbs including the front door that I got to replace? The clincher was the dirty dog bowl and mat he left for me in the kitchen sink. After seeing the state of things, we washed the sheets and towels as a precaution. My wife and I wouldn't let the kids touch anything that hadn't been sprayed with Lysol first. I tried to reason with the owner but he claimed he cleaned the house for 8 hours and that nothing needed to be cleaned. I'm not really sure what he did for 8 hours, but if he truly did clean, I can't even imagine how filthy the place must have been. I have rented houses and condos from other site multiple times and never have I had to deal with such a problem before. I don't have unrealistic expectations, just sanitary conditions at the least.

  • Kevin responded quickly when we had a slight issue with the key less door code. He also texted quickly suggesting two awesome restaurants. The cottage is definitely charming with beautiful wood floors, wood walls and ceiling. It was a great get away experience in the woods relaxing on the wooden balcony. My husband and I only spent one night, but came back refreshed. Definitely a winner with complete privacy. The cottage is definitely in the woods with no neighbors.

  • As seeing i booked the cottage late at night, Kevin was very swift in getting back by the next morning. Great little place that is nice and secluded but still 5 minutes from anything you might need on your stay.. Very accomodating..Great place

  • Kevin stayed on the phone with us until we made it to the cottage since we had a little trouble finding it. And he made great recommendations for places to eat as well. We felt very welcome. The cottage was cozy and quaint and very clean. The area is beautiful. It was a very relaxing and refreshing stay!

    Julie2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Good location, beautiful house and property, well maintained, welcoming hosts.

    James2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a few months and had a wonderful experience. Kevin was a fantastic and attentive host, and the property was rustic, cozy, and delightfully secluded. The backyard was spacious with a lovely creek in back, and it felt very private. The kitchen is well stocked and we didn't want for anything. And it's waking distance from a local brewery pumping out the best beer I've ever had. It was hard to leave. We would come back here any time.

I have 3.5 acres on the Bogue Fayala River in Covington, La. Once you turn off the highway, I have this lovely cottage surrounded by pines, magnolias and oaks. I have a 2 bedroom house also available to rent on river frontage. My bungalow is a 850 sq foot apartment over a garage overlooking the acreage. Deer are a common occurrence. It has had a updo recently with fresh paint, new floors and countertops, appliances and sinks. Check into my other rental on Airrb!
The cottage has a great room with cathedral ceilings and windows all around. The view is amazing. The master bedroom is large with the queen bed and great mattress. Again the windows look out into the property from the second story. Large bathroom with plenty of storage and room. Absolutely beautiful setting on three acres. Enjoy all the seasons of the year with the many different types of trees. If your feeling good take a dip in the clear shallow Bogue Fayala and go for a swim. Tammany Trace is near by for biking. A perfect getaway. The cottage has a washer dryer, equipped Kitchen and A Little porch to bird watch. Your job is to relax! Downtown Covington is nearby with the Sat morn farmers market and cute cafe's and I love so many of the eateries. Almost like Magazine st in Nola.
I live in a part of Covington that begins to turn into country. Towering pines line the road and the property turns private and secluded. There is river frontage on the property. Across the river is the convent in which you hear them ringing the bells for prayer every morning. Yes, its a bit of paradise. If your quiet You might catch a deer roaming around with her fauns. Many different species of birds are nesting. If you look and are attentive you will see a lot.
  • Comfy and secluded!

    Luke2017-04-29T00:00:00Z

    Chris2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place. Private. Tons of space to relax. Parris even texted me when the tropical storm was rolling through to make sure I put my car some place safe. Oh, and most importantly, amazing air condition.

    Patrick2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was perfect. The house was very clean and open and the area surrounding it was serene and secluded. After weeks of staying in hotels, it was so refreshing to spend a week here. The host was very communicative, but also gave us total space. Perfect balance. They also showed up with some extra blankets while we were away and put them in the dryer to fluff them up. Thanks for everything, highly recommend this place.

    Niles2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great visit at Parris' home. We were looking to escape from New Orleans for the weekend and it was the perfect spot. Beautiful property, beautiful and comfortable clean home. It's located very close to Covington so we were able to easily spend time in town but also retreat back to the cottage surrounded by woods which feels like it's a million miles away. Parris made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay.

Treehouse, Louisiana is a magical place where you will be inspired and intrigued. It's the perfect place to get caught up on rest, reconnect with your partner or write that novel. The house was built by an artist in the 1970's, sits on wooded acres with ionized air, and provides peace and privacy. The open floor plan has two lofts that center around the grand picture window overlooking the forest. The treehouse is a woman/artist owned property that seeks to encourage sustainable slow-living.
The house is a 3 story lofted raised cabin built by an artist in the 1970's. The highlight of the space is a large picture window overlooking the woods. We call it a treehouse because it sits high in the treetops, but technically there is not a tree inside the structure. The listing can accommodate up to 6 people, but is best suited for 2. The master bedroom has a queen size bed with a Keetsa organic eco mattress with zero off-gasing. The floor plan is open and there are no real doors so its best if you are well acquainted with any guests who will be staying with you on your trip as you can hear anyone moving about in the house. The spiral staircase used to access the lofts is very compact so please pack accordingly. The third floor is set up like a small studio/guestroom. I keep a small selection of supplies and a drawing table and easel for guests who feel inspired during their stay. The house has one and a half baths, but only the master bath has a small camp shower with a half-size hot water heater which is sufficient for comfortable hot showers for one or two, but more people will need to be spaced out. The only way to access the full bath is through the bedroom on second floor, and the only way to access 3rd floor guestroom is via the spiral staircase that passes through the bedroom. Though the setting is very private, there is very little privacy inside the home, so please know this before booking. The 3rd floor has two camping cots with Anthropologie bedding. The main living room has a futon with plush pillows which becomes a double bed. If you have any questions about the layout of the space and suitability for more than 2 people, please let us know. There is a small deck by the front door, that is elevated and has a small bistro table, perfect for morning coffee with the birds. The space under the house is accessible and has a round picnic table. There are also two hammocks provided which remain in the house, but can easily be carried outside and hung on the hooks under the deck. There is a campfire pit behind the house and firewood is provided under the house in a bin. This house is rustic and rural. If you make a booking, I trust that you are seeking this type of setting. While the house has modern comforts including AC and heat (window units and space heaters), stove, toaster oven (no real oven), microwave, small hot water heater, and fans. It also has limitations. There is no bathtub. The house is old and drafty. It can be warm in summer, and cold in winter. It's glorified camping indoors. So please consider if this is your style. Woods-life is full of natural wonders as well, so the occasional bug or lizard finds a way inside, and once you step out the door, you should take caution and accept responsibility for yourself as you CAN encounter raccoons, armadillo, snakes, rodents, or other pests. But you can ALSO encounter birds, falcons, foxes, deer, butterflies and other beautiful creatures. The woods has it all. I love that about it and I hope you will too.
The Treehouse is just 2 miles from the quaint town center of Abita Springs, known for its pure water, tranquil natural setting, and the Abita Brewery. The house is perfect for doing nothing at all, but you won't find any shortage of things to see and do in the area. Nearby is the wacky museum "The Abita Mystery House", the beautiful Tammany Trace for biking or walking/running. The Abita Brewery offers tours and tastings, and the brew pub has local cuisine. Abita has a snoball stand, splash pad, park, cafe, farmers market, grocery store, and gas station. Beyond Abita Springs is the vast northshore where you will find horse farms, fine dining, rivers, canoeing and tubing, the lakefront and Fontainebleu State Park and beach, The Dew Drop social hall, and so much more. We provide recommendations in the house binder, but if you need more advice, just ask!

  • We had a wonderful stay at the treehouse! It is absolutely beautiful and so relaxing. We felt so at home. It was also really nice to feel like we were in the middle of nowhere, but actually so close to town. It was hard to leave! We will definitely be back!

    Lilly2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place is nestled in the trees and provides a retreat from the hustle and bustle! It is easily accessible for those who can climb stairs. The addition of a record player and jazz records was a welcomed treat! If you are looking to get away and have reflection time or to visit with family or friends you have found the place! It is located near to a grocery, pharmacy and restaurants so you are not so removed from "civilization".

    Mike2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy lofted treehouse is even more beautiful than the photos! It is truly amazing! I wish I would've had more time to stay. I will definitely stay here as many times as I can when I am in town visiting my family. It is a great escape from the city, but close enough to easily drive to restaurants etc. We felt as if we had stepped into a magazine! The decor, furniture was simple yet chic and the panoramic view from the windows was amazing. We sat out on the patio deck which was great for conversing and relaxing . It is very quiet - you don't hear traffic, or the noise of any neighbors etc. And to top it off you can open any bottle of wine for $20! Rebecca was an amazing host and worked with us on scheduling. We had some last minute changes due to a death in the family and Rebecca was completely understanding and worked with me! I honestly couldn't have asked for more! If you are in the Northshore area of New Orleans, you have to check this amazing place out for at least one or two nights . Tip * I wouldn't recommend it for children as it is pristine and the stairs etc are antique. It is safe, but a place more suitable for adults. Although, children are still welcome. I cannot rave enough! Thank you , Rebecca, for this amazing retreat!

  • The treehouse is an absolute dream to stay at. It is the perfect get-a-way home. My husband and I are so thankful we found this gem.

  • This is truly a hidden gem. Very secluded and beautiful. The decor was very unique and cozy. This lofted tree house is by far my favorite Airbnb that I've stayed at. Plus the town was a great place to explore with many unique places to visit. They also were great with recommendations. Would definitely stay here again!!!

  • Our stay at Ms Sally's home was amazing. Everything was just as she has it listed. Great room, great view of the river and wildlife, and so close to the reataurants and nightlife of downtown covington. Would definately recommend to anyone for a relaxing weekend.

  • My sister-in-law and her husband had the privilege of staying in the Dunn home. Enjoyed their stay very much. Very convenient to the charming downtown area of Covington, LA and a delightful drive across Lake Pontchatrain to New Orleans!

  • After the long drive from Houston my parents were tired and irritable, but upon seeing Sally's beautiful and cozy house it really made them happy they made the trip! The place was clean, beautifully decorated and tranquil. The creek in the backyard is huge for a creak and peaceful to just sit by. Would highly recommend Sally's place, it's like a nature retreat!

    Vivian2015-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house in downtown Covington. Sally had flowers, wine, and snacks available for us. Great host.

    Regina2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sally was a fantastic host. She warmly welcomed us into her beautiful home, explaining where things such as coffee in our private kitchenette adjoining the room could be found. The room itself was beautifully furnished, including with exquisite artworks, the beds very comfortable and it had a gorgeous balcony overlooking her back garden, which was full of birds and other wildlife. Sally not only took the time to make us feel at home but was full of excellent ideas and suggestions on what we could do during our stay. Although it was a half hour drive into New Orleans each day, the drive itself was easy and Covington was a welcome refuge from the bustle of the city. I would definitely stay here again during my next trip to New Orleans!

    Emerald and Liam2015-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sally was wonderful! We stayed in two of her rooms while in Covington for the wedding and it was perfect. The rooms were spacious and bright. She had a little welcome basket along with suggestions of places to go in the area. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Sally and her home are absolutely lovely, filled with love and southern charm. We felt very welcomed. Covington is wonderful- quaint and walkable. A great weekend destination in itself, but also an easy, pleasant drive to New Orleans. Highly recommended!

    Elizabeth2014-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time at Sally's and words really cannot express how much I love it in her home. The yard, the river, the amazing and beautiful objects in her home, the balcony looking over the yard and the river, the beautiful pillows and linens on the bed. It is all simply wonderful. Sally herself is so lovely, friendly and my long lost spirit sister. You can walk to all kinds of wonderful parks, coffee shops, bars and restaurants, too. I will be back!

  • Our stay at Crystal's condo was a most pleasant one. Her place was very clean, spacious, nicely decorated, and full of amenities. Our family of six had plenty of room for sleeping and eating. The location in downtown Covington was perfect for walking to the local farmers market, shops, and restaurants. Our favorite restaurant was Coffee Rani which was only a 2 minute walk from the condo. The service was friendly, prices were reasonable, and food was very delicious and fresh. Our kids really loved it too! Highly recommend this rental and would definitely visit here again.

  • Crystal did a great job in creating the cozy atmosphere and was very friendly in letting me call the loft my home. She had a lovely binder with calendar events in town and maps from her home to different restaurants which made it very helpful to see the proximity. I'm excited to book again at the downtown loft. She went above and beyond in accommodating Mojo (my dog) and I. There's nothing she didn't think of for us!

Over 100 year old home; 4 bedrooms, 2 baths situated on 6 acres overlooking Bogue Falaya River, 45 minutes from New Orleans. The town of Covington with restaurants , supermarkets, etc. is 5 minutes away. Great for retreats or small family reunions.
This home is over 100 years old on 6 acres of beautifully landscaped property. The property is located on the Bogue Falaya River. There is a great outdoor area with a fireplace and built in bbq that overlooks the river. Next to that is a screened-in room with tables, benches and ceiling fans for eating. L'Esperance has a shallow pool that is fed by an artesian well and waterfall; perfect for cooling off in the summer. Too many special places on the property to list them all.
While we are located in a quiet residential neighborhood that is 5 mins away from the historic town of Covington, our property is very secluded and offers lots of privacy. Covington is a quaint, small town with wonderful restaurants and shopping. We are also located 45 mins from New Orleans.
  • The house was very beautiful - even more so than the photos. Very magical with lots of different nooks around the property that were fun to explore. We had a great time, the host was very helpful and always responded quickly to questions. My friends and I had a great time. Right off the main drag but removed enough to feel like you are in the country. I hope to come back in the summer when the river is lower and warmer - I definitely recommend it!

    Sara2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • L'Esperance is a real treasure. We enjoyed the beautiful yard and lovely old house, full of charm. We hope to visit again.

  • This place was gorgeous, perfect for a larger group. Monique was a great host and made our stay very enjoyable.

    Gayatri2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Monique and her father were gracious hosts who responded quickly with any and all questions we had. They made us feel very welcome in their home. Everyone in the family absolutely loved this place. The grounds are beautiful. We especially enjoyed canoeing on the river and wading in the artesian pond. We took advantage of the outdoor stone fireplace with grill for a nice family cookout and bonfire. The house itself was amazing, much larger than I expected and filled with character and treasures. The screened porches were a plus. The front porch with the rocking chairs for some quiet time to enjoy the beauty of the property and the side porch for hanging out together playing cards into the night. Given the opportunity we would love to come back!

    Patty2015-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Every detail covered and reflected in the description. Monique was welcoming and was there to help with any logistics. This is the perfect spot for families and friends to gather. We will be back!

    Sara2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a home away from home, a quiet and peaceful jewel tucked away at the back of on a large and beautiful property, just off Highway. Entry for the property is about three miles from the charming and fun town of Covington; actully you can see Covington across it's river that runs through the back of the property. The large hous, as the photos show, is an old classic – but the interior with cathedral ceilings, warm kitchen and furnishing provides convenience without sacrificing charm. Just 50 minutes from New Orleans and the French Quarter should you tire of crickets and stars. When I return, we've already been in serious discussions to continue to use this as our home base.

    Andrew2016-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical experience! We live in Portland, OR but are originally from Covington. I grew up in an old house like this one and it made me feel so at home. It is a beautiful, historical property very close to downtown Covington. The house is a slice of history (built in the late 1800's) and transports you back in time. It has a classic "dog trot" down the middle of the house (a wide hallway) that promoted cross-breezes prior to A/C and 14 foot ceilings throughout the house. We had meals on the screened porch in the evenings watching the fireflies and watched a dramatic and thrilling Louisiana thunderstorm from the rocking chairs on the back porch. The grounds are well-manicured and lovely. There is a large fantastic spring fed wading pool on the side of the house that my 3 and 5 year old loved. They were able to swim and splash and play while we watched and waded and got some relief on the hotter days. The house is simple to find and is in the oldest part of Covington. Covington has a great downtown with really nice shops and restaurants and it's just a short drive away. The house is right on the Bogue Falaya river, directly across the river from Bogue Falaya Park. There is a large grill and a screened in family area down closer to the river which would be great for gatherings. Behind the house and down some brick steps is an enchanting walkway with giant stands of bamboo here and there along the way down to the river and a small pier. Although we did not use it, a canoe is there for guests' use. The house was very comfortable for all of us with plenty of room and the central A/C handled record heat very well despite the age of the home. We hope L'Esperance remains available for letting for years to come as it really felt like going home to me and my family.

    Nicole2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely a must stay if you are looking for peace and quiet away from the bustle of New Orleans! The artesian well pool was awesome following days of touring the north shore and New Orleans (about a 30 minute drive). Very convenient to local attractions (don't miss the Abita Brewery), restaurants and shopping. You couldn't ask for a better hostess, Monique will do everything in her power to make your stay a great one! The best example of southern hospitality we've ever encountered.

  • Our host seemed very interested in our comfort and enjoyment. He was very approachable and available. The guest house was spotlessly clean. the property is beautiful. If anything, the photos don't quite do it justice. The property sits right next to old Covington with lots of nearby, walking distance, dining and shopping. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

  • Wow! what a perfect getaway. This property is so adorable and who wouldnt want a private pool??? The hosts were very nice and were available for all my questions! We had asked (hopefully politely) that we wanted a more private stay and the hosts were very willing to accommodate that. The guest house itself is beautifully decorated and was very comfortable for 2 people. The town itself is very cute and had some lovely dining experiences as well. We just had such a great time - we cant wait to go back!

  • The Guest House at Charropin beach was amazing. It definitely lived up to my expectations. It is in the perfect location and was extremely comfortable. It gave my husband and I the rest and relaxation we needed. I highly recommend this wonderful guest house and hope to return soon. Sean thanks again for everything - you are awesome!!!

  • Everything you want in a getaway. The pool was fabulous. The river was peaceful and inspiring. The accommodations are impeccable. The host is kind and generous. ❤

  • Where should I begin. The pool house and grounds are magnificent. So, so peaceful. We were so fortunate to book this property for my daughter and her husband for a small honeymoon. They really enjoyed their quiet time after the wedding down on the dock by the river. The hosts could not have been more accommodating. Everything you need was there including drinks and champagne in the refrigerator. Thanks so much Sean and Ian for making this a very memorable end to a wonderful weekend.

    Denise2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend getaway at the guest house! Bryan was an amazing host. The fridge was stocked with water, beer, soda, and even supplies for mimosas! He was also very flexible with check-in/check-out times. We spent our time relaxing by the pool and also brought our canoe to paddle the bayou that's in the backyard.

    Leah2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was amazing, grounds beautiful and the proximity to the wonderful venues in town, fantastic. A one of a kind accommodation!!!!!

    Jeffrey2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place needs to be in a magazine - on the cover!! It is amazing. The place and the setting are equally unbelievable. If you are looking for a great retreat (or recovery) from New Orleans, this is the perfect spot and it comes with the perfect hosts. The Guest House: a huge bedroom with an incredibly comfortable bed (new with new linens and about six huge pillows). Refreshing crisp white decor with high end furniture (the owners are in the furniture business and it shows!). Large modern open bathroom with a shower and separate soaking tub that overlooks the grounds and river. Adjacent to the outdoor sitting area (I'll come back to that) is a small kitchen that the owners graciously and generously stocked with refreshments, beer, wine, mixed nuts and even a bottle of vodka (Southern hospitality?). Peets coffee was in order (and thoughtfully supplied) after a night with wine by the pool. Entire place was super clean. Very nice bathroom amenities - high end spa level. The Outdoor Space and Setting: Wow. The sitting area (loggia?) is so nice and relaxing. It overlooks the amazing pool, grounds and views of the original 125 year old home. Nice lighting and sound system (and steps from that fully stocked kitchen!). The grounds are incredibly private. You can't see another structure. The river is pretty cool as is the Spanish moss growing from some 100+ year old trees. The dock is a treat. Plenty of comfortable pool furniture (pix don't show the cushions) and plenty of sun! Grounds are meticulously cared for - beautiful. The Owners: This might be the best part of the experience. This is a father/son operation. I was in contact with both prior to arriving - they are extremely responsive and I've rented Sean's place in Nola and it was great. Check-in and out went without a flaw. They are very proud of the place, as they should be. However, they truly want their guests to feel at home and to enjoy it - and they went out of their way to make sure I did. I certainly did. Mr. Byran (Sean's dad) is a long term resident and knows Covington extremely well, and certainly knows the best restaurants. He was gracious to spend some time with me at a local great restaurant and it was very much appreciated. Covington may be a small town but Bryan showed me some great restaurants. Excellent food. THIS PLACE IS A GEM AND THE OWNERS ARE TRULY AWESOME AND SO VERY ACCOMMODATING. Very highly recommended.

    Trevor2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful property with many amenities that make it the perfect spot for a family. We are a large family that was in town for a family reunion that took place about an hour away. This wonderful space was comfortable and we were able to relax and have a family getaway. The toddlers/teens made great use of the pool and the grounds, including fishing in the pond. There was ample space on the property and in the house which was clean and well maintained. There were also more than enough beds and bathrooms which was a highlight. Our hosts were very welcoming and gracious. I would definitely recommend this home to others. The property might be a little difficult to find at night; I would suggest that travelers arrive in the daytime. Thanks again Shannon!

  • The secret garden was a truly lovely, peaceful home and setting for our visit. We got stranded by hurricane Harvey, unable to drive home to Houston, and the host graciously allowed us to extend our stay one day at a time until we could get home. The home was very comfortable and the pretty salt water pool was fun and refreshing.

  • Karen greeted us at her condo, showed us the layout and gave us a few needed instructions. She left us a bottle of wine with some cheese and crackers and even items for breakfast the next morning because we had arrived late! The condo was beautiful! We were there almost a month! It was truly our home away from home! Comfortable, very well stocked, close to all stores, supermarkets, restaurants and major highways! The condo development is well maintained, very quiet and there is a clubhouse, pool and gym! We could not have asked for better accommodations! We had our own parking spot under a carport, which is important in the hotter temps! We mostly took advantage of the immediate area, but New Orleans is only an hour away! I have no negatives about our stay and I hope when we return to visit our family that Karen's place will be available!

Our Guest House sits behind our historic home in a lovely residential neighborhood. It is in walking distance to our histortic downtown with many galleries, shops, and restaurants. We are just 40 minutes from New Orleans over the the Causeway Bridge. Our Guest House is done with a New Orleans feel. 5% of your rental fee is donated to Habitat for Humanity.
The Guest House is well appointed with a comfortable living area including a kitchen which has granite counter tops and a dishwasher and everything you need to make a true Louisiana meal. We have strived to have special thoughtful touches, such as locally made soaps in the bathroom as well as little treats in the kitchen. The bed is reported as being very comfortable and the bathroom reflects a spa feel.
Our neighborhood is filled with historic homes, many including ours, featured on the Holiday Home Tour last year. We are in easy walking distance of the historic downtown, there are frequently events such as wonderful free concerts at our trailhead or river landing. Our community is a pretty friendly place where folks will take the time to talk with you.
  • This was a wonderful place to stay during our time in Louisiana. The cleanliness was off the charts, the snacks were great, and the place was very cozy. We spent the weekend visiting New Orleans for Voodoo Experience but decided to stay in Covington. The location is spectacular. The hosts are even better. Don't hesitate on this! For the price and comfort it is a steal. Thank you again to these two for putting us up over the weekend and we won't forget it.

  • Our stay with Helen and Cleo far exceeded our expectations. Not only was the cottage very well decorated and cozy but we were treated so nicely. Fresh baked cookies, fresh fruit after our bike ride and an exceptional quiche for breakfast. The attention to detail at this property makes all the difference in the world. Our family hopes to be back soon to visit and we would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for a beautiful weekend.

    Brandy2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The guest house was awesome, it the best airbnb experience I ever had. Helen even made a quiche for us for breakfast. Aside from the quiche, she made cookie on on the side for midnight munchies. The bed is super comfy. 100% will book this place again if I go back to Covington. My group still talks about the house even after we left.

  • Helen and Cleo rock! The prepared breakfast was great, and there were snacks and beverages waiting. Thank u for making our first airbnb so wonderful

    David2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Helen's place is beautiful with a fantastic location in downtown Covington. The space was warm and inviting, and the hosts were as well! Very clean, and Helen and her husband provided breakfast and snacks. We would definitely stay with them again!

    Margaret2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We've stayed at many airbnb locations and have been happy with the majority. This was by far...the best. Exceeded every expectation. Convenient location near the library, excellent eating establishments, park...you name it. The cottage is lovely and the presentation was impeccable. The best part...our hosts. Genuinely lovely people. If you have the chance...enjoy the experience of this gem.

    Gail2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Helen and Cleo are lovely, chatty but also gave us plenty of time on our to just unwind. The cottage decorations were tasteful and interesting. It has a full kitchen that was a pleasure to use, but we hardly needed it as Helen and Cleo left us well provisioned with snacks and breakfast. Great hosts, great stat, will definitely be visiting again!

My place is close to 45 minutes away from New Orleans and just minutes off I-12. You’ll love my place because of the nice neighborhood, cozy bed, TV, mini-fridge and Wi-Fi. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. The room is on the 2nd floor along with the bathroom. Please park in driveway. Recently acquired two boxer puppies on 1st floor.
  • Trevor's place is very quiet. His mom (Kim) and dad was very nice and easy to talk to.

    Julie2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Trevor and his family were very nice and helpful. The room was clean and the house was nice in a good neighborhood. The drive into New Orleans wasn't bad at all. Definitely a good place to stay for my mom and sister's first time out there.

  • What a great place to stay! I was traveling in the North Shore area for business and needed a place to stay for 2 weeks. Trevor's family was more than accommodating. They are truely wonderful people to stay with. The room was very clean and comfortable. Their home is very well kept and located in a quiet, safe, family friendly neighborhood a few minutes drive from Mandeville and the Causeway to New Orleans. I have been traveling for the past 10 month using Airbnb, and this has been one of my best experiences. I will certainly be coming back here to stay if I am in the area. I highly recommend this Airbnb if you need a place to stay on the North shore!

Inviting upscale home in secluded setting right in the middle of all the New Orleans Northshore has to offer. Plenty of open living space for family gatherings, a large deck overlooking a wooded river and 5 spacious bedrooms to accommodate everyone!
  • This is a great getaway! Our family thoroughly enjoyed the location, the shaded back patio with views of the river, and the opportunity to stay together in this big house. The kitchen is fully stocked, there are nice sheets and towels for use, and the washer/dryer came in handy. The trees and river views make the back patio a great place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the real world, and reconnect with family and friends!

  • Do not stay here. He will assess charges for something of which you are not responsible weeks later once you are gone for which you should not be held responsible or accountable. They are not honest or trustworthy. He accused us of ripping a door of the hinges and I think we would know if we did that (we did not) --he simply wants us to pay to update his home and buy a new door for it. I will fight any extra charges in court if necessary cause this is wrong. My parents were with us and were so so helpful cleaning and maintaining the home during our stay!

Enjoy your stay at the Acadian Cottage featuring the living room with heart pine floors, patio deck, bedroom and bathroom. Conveniently located off Interstate-12.
High and Dry! The home for rent includes 1 upstairs bedroom including two twin beds with full bathroom attached, a living room, full kitchen, laundry room and a large fenced in backyard with patio deck. There's a TV with an HD antennae and wifi internet in living room. Acadian Cottage is centrally located between Old Mandeville, downtown Covington and Madisonville. Restaurants, local breweries, pubs, coffee houses, tiny shops, art galleries, nature trails, bike paths, the Tchefuncte River and the Ponchartrain lakefront are all within a short driving distance away. Fountainbleau State Park in and Fairview State Park are also located in our area. The grocery store is right down the street.
Nice little neighborhood not far off I-12, but you wouldn't know it with all the birds singing pretty in the shady oaks and lazy magnolias that canopy the area.
  • Andrew welcomed us upon arrival and showed us around the house. He kindly made last-minute accommodations when our travel plans changed. We had some minor concerns during the beginning of our stay, but he promptly addressed them and made everything right. One of my favorite parts about the house was its location - just two miles from the Tammany Trace, which is a beautiful biking/running trail. Thanks for letting us know about the Tammany Trace and thanks for your hospitality, Andrew!

    Diette C2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew's place is great if you're looking for something economical and close to the Covington area as I was. Andrew was a great host. Very communicative and friendly.

    Nathan2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew was an amazing host. He was very friendly and gave us lots of clues where to go and what to do. The room was nice and quite spacious and had its own bathroom. It was really comfortable to use the kitchen and hang out on the porch. Also, the area around Covington offers a lot: biking, hiking/walking or kayaking as well as many nice restaurants. I’d definitively recommend this place!

1200 sq. ft. Cozy Cottage on private acreage, 6 minutes from downtown Covington. This is a stand-alone home with deck overlooking pond, screened front porch and BBQ. Charming interior, lots of windows, and a comfortable interior might have you sleep late one day.
This is a home away from home, a quiet and peaceful jewel tucked away at the back of our 20 acres property, just off Highway 21. Entry for the property is about six miles from the charming and fun town of Covington. The cottage, as the photos show, is an old classic – but the interior with cathedral ceilings and modern kitchen and furnishing provides convenience without sacrificing charm. Just 50 minutes from New Orleans and the French Quarter should you tire of crickets and stars.
We are the cottage’s only visible neighbors. Abita Springs and Covington are each about 5 minutes’ drive; Mandeville on Lake Ponchatrain is 15 minutes away. All these towns offer great restaurants, shopping, parks, walking trails, music and fun concerts, markets and events almost every weekend. New Orleans is 50 minutes away, across the Causeway Bridge, and as you know offers everything.
  • Our first AirBNB experience couldn't have been better. Better in every way than we expected - and the reviews led us expect a lovely experience. Quiet, restful, beautiful, and great hosts. Elaine and Wayne were more like good friends than ABNB hosts. Couldn't say enough about how wonderful the stay was, so I'll leave it at that. If you want a first rate experience, book now.

    Gerald2015-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • I'm traveling home via Amtrak, reminiscing about our week at the cottage. This was our second stay at what we fondly call our "home away from home". Elaine and Wayne go beyond expectations to ensure your stay is as flawless as possible. It's difficult to find any complaints in this magical cottage by the pond and we will return again and again when we are in the New Orleans area! Thank you for another stellar week E & W!!

    Kathy2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was just an awesome experience. I can't say enough about the host & hostess. We welcomed like family and will definetly return. The quiet was loud. So if you enjoy your "quiet loud", this is the place to stay. The back patio for a cigar and sip of adult beverage was just so peaceful. The screen porch in the morning for coffee. The weather was also cooperative. This weekend was 10.5 on the richter (???) scale.....thanks Elaine & Wayne.

    Tim2015-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine and her husband Wayne were super welcoming right from the start. They are such wonderful people and made our whole experience in Louisiana so much fun. The cottage is a perfect getaway from the everyday stress, cute and cozy. The listing is very accurate and is surprisingly close to Covington and everything you might need when you're there. We heard nothing but crickets and other animals during our stay, no cars or people at all, which is great after being in the city for too long. If we could give our experience at Elaine's six stars, we would. Definitely going back when we're in the area.

    Marina2015-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful wonderful cottage. Exactly as advertised, plus more--above and beyond type of hosts. Quiet peaceful setting, yet right down the road from so much. It was terribly sad to have to leave, we enjoyed our weekend so much!

    Rachel2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage is the perfect home away from home. Could not ask for better hosts than Elaine and Wayne. I stayed for a month, and I wish it could have been longer!

    Julia2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful three days! The cottage is really relaxing and beautiful. A really interesting design where every room faces a peaceful pond. It was just what I needed to recharge. Elaine and her husband were real dolls. So sweet with fresh baked bread, homemade honey and jam. So wonderful. I will definitely be back!

    Renee2015-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Pond View Cottage was our home away from home for two months and we enjoyed it immensely. Elaine and Wayne are superb hosts who anticipated all our needs and more than provided for our comfort. The cottage contains all the amenities, plus has a unique charm in a delightful setting. Our time passed too quickly! Covington is a fabulous small town with big-city perks such as fantastic restaurants, art galleries, and cute shops.

You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space and the quiet, peaceful neighborhood. The outdoor space is great for a variety of activities such as barbecuing, campfires, and crawfish boils. The house has boat access to a waterway that leads to the tchefuncte river, which is great for watersports. My place is good for couples and families (with kids).
Boat slip available with boat launch at property or down the street. great access to the tchefuncte river for fishing, skiing, and dining in madisonville. Ample deck space for relaxation and barbecuing.
  • Nicks place was absolutely fabulous. The pictures did not do this place justice. The location is nice quiet and relaxing but close enough to get to stores and restaurants. The home was clean with everything we needed for a short getaway. This sure beats a hotel stay. We are planning our next trip there soon.
