Places to stay in Pescina
Luca's House is located on Monte Amiata, an enchanted place with ancient history. We are in the municipality of Seggiano a Pescina. The farmhouse is an ancient peasant structure that dates back to the 19th century, built entirely of stone and with the appearance of a small village.  Completely surrounded by greenery, it is the ideal place to be able to regenerate and find oneself, dive into rivers and thermal baths, do Yoga and enjoy life
The ancient peasant structure that dates back to the nineteenth century, built entirely of stone and restored leaving the architectural features of the place intact, constitutes a small village with four apartments, for a total of 14-20 beds, with sauna, whirlpool, hot tub  and small swimming pool. Long term rentals are also available. The apartment of this announcement consists of the union of the apartments Petra and Fonte, visible in the photos.  There are 3 bedrooms, a large living room with fireplace, two bathrooms, a kitchenette;  ideal for 6 people plus children. Alternatively, Petra and Fonte can be made distinct and with separate entrances. The other apartments are the Ciliegio and the Brezza. There is WiFi connection inside the house and in the garden. Small and medium-sized animals are welcome. The farm is located a few km from the thermal baths of S. Filippo, Bagni Vignoni, while few others can be reached the thermal baths of Petriolo, Saturnia and those of San Casciano ai Bagni. We are 10 minutes from the winter ski slopes that offer two chair lifts and various lifts. The farm is completely surrounded by greenery, by fields, pine and chestnut woods.  Roe deer, porcupines, badgers, wild boars and foxes are often visible.  The area is completely unspoiled, a refuge for various bird species including hawks and buzzards.  And for the thousands of fireflies to be observed at sunset in summer, and the swarms of butterflies in spring.  Ideal for bird-watching, trekking and mountain bike enthusiasts, while not far away it is possible to practice paragliding.  Due to its position, it is ideal for organizing photo tours and your own artistic shots. Yoga courses can also be organized
Located in the cross area where Maremma and Val D’Orcia Nature Park meet, Mount Amiata is an ancient volcano (1774 m.) with an abundance of underground and springs thermal waters. . The closest thermal bath (20 minutes by car) is at San Filippo; in the area there are thermal baths at Bagni Vignone or San Casciano up to those at Petriolo and Saturnia. Not distant the sea side Argento coast(one hour by car) . The ski slopes are about 10 minutes by car from the farm: in winter there are several kilometers of slopes equipped with two chair lifts and ski lifts. Mount Amiata has always been a crossroads of intense spiritual activity thanks to its churches and to the Via Francigena(from VIII century pilgrim itinerary coming from north europe) which flanks it in the north. At the beginning of the 19th century it witnessed the rise of David Lazzaretti’s social-Christian community on Mount Labro. At the moment it is home to Merigar, the seat of the Dzogchen Community, one of the biggest Tibetan Buddhist centres in Italy. In the area of Seggiano and Pescina you can visit the Spoerri Garden, an international contemporary art museum by Daniel ,a museum of contemporary art created by Daniel Spoerri which attracts an international audience. From Santa Fiora and Arcidosso to Pienza and Montepulciano there is a succession of medieval villages and Renaissance towns to visit and numerous local activities in any season.
  • Luca's place is a magical sanctuary with a beautiful stone house with cozy fireplace and an incredible jacuzzi to relax in at the end of a night. The view, the trees, the flowers and sweet affectionate kittens are all delightful. Just a short drive up the mountain you can hike through forests with mossy boulders and see deer, porcupines and foxes in the pristine nature. Luca was very helpful with advice for local places to visit and made sure we had plenty of kindling for the fireplace and a fantastic sauna experience. Would definitely recommend this place. you will not want to leave!

  • Luca’s place was amazing. If you are looking for a place to stay in a country side, choose his!

    Shirlyn2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Luca's house is located at over 900 meters altitude on Monte Amiata - a wonderful retreat, if you are looking for peace. To the places in the area you usually need longer than indicated in the helpful documents, because you are not quite as wild rushing around the curves as the locals do that probably. The thermal spring Bagni S. Filippo is more than a full hour and a half, and you also need to spend your time shopping in Castel del Piano. But it's worth it ... The area is enchanting and the house is fun. Especially the bedroom upstairs, with windows in three directions :-)

    Stefan2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great! Luca’s home is large and quite comfortable, and the property is beautiful. The roads can be a little challenging for people who are not used to mountain driving (there are no street lights at night, for instance) but we adapted pretty quickly. In terms of location, we found it to be a great base for day trips out to Saturnia, Siena and wineries.

    Christian2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Luca and his place are amazing. The rustic buildings, amazing views and green surroundings makes it a very peaceful place to stay. The wood fired hot tub was a highlight!

    Lawrence2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent place to relax and enjoy authentic, stunning Italian culture and cuisine. We can't wait to come back and stay for longer next time. So beautiful and I'd say quite unique.

    Peter2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning rustic place which is furnished with lots of lovely personal touch. Can gladly recommend and would stay there again.

    Peter2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Not only the surrounding nature but the house is charming as well. Feels homely and everything is there you need to feel at ease. Inside and outside the house. Good chairs, more than enough equipment in the kitchen. A very relaxing place to stay and have a rest. Luca is relaxed as well. Be sure you have shopped your food before arrival, because the place is quite high up the mountain and no shop around the corner. A very nice experience is to take a dip in one of the hot water springs. There are several springs in the wide and nearer surrounding, although you have to drive with a car to get there. But ofcourse you can take a dip in the swimmingpool at your own backyard as well.

    Seggiano, Tuscany, Italy

Apartment of 1200 A.D. recently renovated, furnished with ancient furniture. It is divided in 2 floors, connected together by a medieval tower whose upper floor overlooks the hill on which stands the old town of Seggiano.
The ancient building has been renovated in the respect and preservation of the original materials used. Its terracotta floor, the timber beams of the ceiling, make this apartment unique. It offers a wonderful view over the hills of the Val D'Orcia. It is located 16 km from Montalcino, 20 km from Pienza, 50 km from Siena.
The tower is the oldest building in the center of the Medieval town of Seggiano. Our house is located in the heart of Tuscany, the cradle of art, history and of the traditional Italian cuisine, appreciated all over the World for its exquisite wine, oil and meat. There are many recommended activities and routes available and we strongly believe that they will meet the various needs of our guests.
  • We stayed in this fascinating medieval tower on New Year's Eve; Silvia was extremely available (through the legendary Tina, lady of the handyman cleaning). Beautiful house and village, highly recommended especially for those looking for a relaxing break out of time!

    Martino2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed two nights in the tower and it was a lot of fun. Everything ok for heating. For breakfast we found only rusks and tea bags.

    Giovanni2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing experience. It's nothing like we have done before. It's big, beautiful and the view is quite something. Seggiano was fun exploring Wish we could have stayed longer.

    Jonathan2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • This should be your home in Tuscany. First the city is magic, have dinner at the local restaurant near the chapels, it has an old well inside the restaurant, just magic. Second the tower is just magic. The shower and bathroom are small but standard for europe and the beds were ok, but the location and the structure are magic. There is a local supermarket 10 min walk downhill and the kitchen is fully stacked. Stay here at least 2 nights if not a full week.

    Jake2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything great :)

    Stefan2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views at every turn. A huge choice of historical/cultural places to visit, but all still lived in and fully thriving, which makes them extra special. We visited, Pienza, Siena, Ptigiliano and Montalcino (wine here delicious). Also cycled in the Maremma Nature Park and watched the annual palio in Castel del Castiglione. Seggiano's Cafe60 was very friendly, provided tasty local dishes and seemed to be open all hours - great as we didn't arrive till after 11.30 pm on the first night! If you're hiring a car choose a small one with a good handbrake as some of the hills and narrow winding streets are a little scary.

    Fiona2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Silvia’ s medieval tower is unforgettable: the tower has a unique atmosphere with the beautiful old furniture and the astonishing view. It is also very clean and well organized. The village and the whole area is very pretty. There is a cafe-restaurant (cooking nice picci) and a pizzeria with the best pizza we’ve ever tasted! Thanks to Silvia for the experience!

  • I can recommend the accommodation to anyone who seeks peace in Tuscany but also a nice starting point to many great and worth seeing cities would like to have. We felt very comfortable with Constanze and her husband and had a lot of fun in the cozy conversation on the terrace, which also spoiled us with a very nice panorama. We look forward to the next visit. Bye for now! :-)

    Jeanett2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you very much to Constanze and her husband who received me with great kindness despite an unexpected late arrival. The room and the bathroom are extremely nice and clean. And the house is located in part of the village with stunning views of the Tuscan countryside. Unbeatable value for money.

  • Lodging dreamed in the middle of the mountain in a very quiet town without the madness of the big cities. Constanze and his Husband made us feel like part of their family. Ideal to go by car and visit the villages of Montepulciano, Montalcino, Siena, Pienza and many more that are so popular but have their charm. 100% recommended lodging !!

  • We stayed with Francesca on 30 and 31 December, already from the telephone contacts we immediately perceive that we are dealing with a very kind and polite person. But it is when you know her personally that you immediately understand that you will be dealing with someone who immediately knows how to give you the impression of being at home and so it is. The typical Tuscan farmhouse is very beautiful, ancient and furnished according to the taste of the owners, everything seems to give you peace of mind. The room is cozy, warm and clean like the rest of the farmhouse which Francesca shares with her guests. In the morning she offered us a delicious breakfast with jams made by her with fruits from their trees, in a typical Tuscan farmhouse cuisine, a dip back in time. To conclude, I am very happy to have met Francesca, part of her family and her dogs and cats, among whom there is Oliv a cocker of an incredible sympathy. If we return to the amiata, we will certainly return to Francesca if she has availability.

Location with attention to detail and a purposeful environment. You breathe a beautiful energy. Thanks for the hospitality. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area.

    Castel del Piano, Toscana, Italy

A beautiful space in the middle of a chestnuts forest, in Monte Amiata, Tuscany, surrounded by nature and history. Situated between Castel del Piano and Seggiano, in the valley named Conca d'Oro, really nearby Val D'Orcia. The room is part of an ancient and traditional restored stone cottage with a huge history of storing and drying chestnuts in the past, long time ago...
Terra delle Sidhe is a small organic farm located in southern Tuscany overlooking a beautiful valley located on the slopes of Monte Amiata, between the two most important medieval towns named Castel del Piano and Seggiano. The landscape has the peculiarity of a typical natural forest and the diversified productivity typical of organic farms. The estate is spread over three acres of chestnut trees, IGP marroni Amiata, a precious olive variety of DOP Olivastra Seggianese and cherry trees over a hundred years old. A rich variety of fruit trees, medicinal plants, a biodynamic garden, chestnut flour, extra virgin olive oil, natural soaps, delicious teas and jams complete the range of organic products produced on our farm.
Practically no houses around…the property is in the middle of nature and the few neighbors are quiet and calm, nice people, most of them foreigners, respectful with nature and the beauty of the place.
  • Luisa was an amazing host, she is super fun and just a wonderful person to deal with. Her place was charming, overall an amazing experience. I will visit again for sure. So far my best Airbnb experience in Italy. Thank you again and hope to see you again soon. Cristina

  • Luisa was incredibly welcoming and we felt directly at home. The house is located in a fantastic magic area where you can feel good vibes around you. Beautiful Light, a perfect place to relax ! Luisa thank you for having created thus small paradise :) all the best !

  • Great place and people !

    Michal & Barbara2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • If you love the nature, animals, rustic atmosphere and if you would like to chill and relax this is the perfect place for you. There is quite close to Val d'Orcia valley, Monte Amiata, Bagni San Filippo hot springs and many other gorgeous places worth to see. However, the most of the time we spent here in the gardnen in the company of animals, enjoying nature, roasting chestnuts on an open fire, looking on sky full of stars, listening crickets and hoot of an owl. Hosts Luisa and Andrea are great, kind and inspiring people full of positive energy. Wonderful experience. Thank you!

    Kamil2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Luisa was so kind and welcoming and the residence is charming and has everything you need. Definitely check out the hot springs and say hello to the friendliest cats ever. Those were some of the highlights of our stay! The bed and home are very comfortable and we would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Luisa!

    Matthew2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house is situated among olive groves and chestnut trees, where we also saw some deer. We ate apples and figs grown in the garden and it was a pleasure to relax in the hammock between the trees and read in the sun while the chickens scratching around us and the dog and the cats were to be pampered. The whole house is well cared for, the rooms are cozy, the bed super comfy and from every window the view is lovely. The village is 10-15 minutes by car and you have to do to get a country road a bit 'challenging but we are not weighed and we enjoyed the quiet and isolation. The area is very beautiful and we made several day trips but it was always a pleasure to return to a home so magical! Unfortunately we have not met Luisa but his colleague Sabrina did not make us miss anything.

    Arianna2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Luisa made our stay absolutely unique :) Mesmerising views on the valley, tasteful decoration in the cottage, the most comfortable bed ever, friendly pets and glimpses of fawns along with the surrounding chestnut, olive and cherry trees are indeed the very strengths of this awesome place. Not to mention Luisa herself :) she made us feel at home away from home :) We loved it so much that we are already planning on going back there in autumn to enjoy the chestnuts season!

    Marzia2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at a home farm was such a pleasure after a few days in Florence and Chianti. Luisa's home is a special and unique place and although a little more challenging to find than some places, well worth the effort. The wild rugged beauty of the Val d'orcia is a unique experience. Luisa is a kind and warm hearted person and an excellent host. We would highly recommend her place.

The Retreat-Cottage is a little stone house in the middle of the garden of the Podere Montecatini, on a natural, spacious property at the foot of the Monte Amiata. Here you can come to yourself, reflect and leave everyday life behind. The landscape is peaceful, fertile and intact with wonderful views over the Tuscan hills. There are colorful meadows, old trees, chestnuts, cherries, wine, streams and olives. It's a good place for a retreat with yourself .
The Retreat Cottage is a small antique house, a tiny house, made entirely of natural stones and was formerly used for chestnuts and wine. We called the cottage "Retreat Cottage" because we think it's a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, get it touch with simplicity and to rearrange. It is hidden from view on the large grounp of the Podere Montecatini with beautiful views of the valley and the nature. It is located about 50 meters away from the old farmhouse. The Podere Montecatini covers a 50,000 m2 plot and is a small organic farm. We produce olive oil from a very special mountain olive, the "Olivastra di Seggiano" chestnuts and cherries. There is a small vegetable garden and lots of aromatic herbs. 150 meters away from the Retreat Cottage is our private swimming pool, embedded in a slope and somewhat separate so that nobody is disturbed. The pool is halfway between the Retreat Cottage, the Farmhouse and the Eco Lodge. At the other end of the property about 300 m. away, the Eco Lodge is in a secluded location. Guests can also stay in the farmhouse and in the Eco Lodge, where everyone can be on their own. In the Retreat Cottage there is a 12m2 room (1 or 2 beds) with bathroom (shower). On the one hand, the house is suitable for being on your own, on the other hand, it is also a very romantic place for a couple or an adventure for children when the parents live in the farmhouse. It is small, but everything is there to make you feel comfortable, it is furnished with antique and Asian furniture, with a small desk, wardrobe and built-in chest of drawers for clothes, an Indian chest, a small fireplace, WiFi Connection, a large living terrace with an outdoor kitchen, with hot plate, cooking utensils, Bodum coffee pot, iron cupboard, small natural stone sink, refrigerator, small cupboard to store food and with a dining table and beautiful wrought-iron chairs. The terrace is like an extra living space. The windows have mosquito nets and there is a fly curtain in front of the front door so you won't be troubled. With solar, photovoltaics, own wood, own water and wastewater treatment plants, we have tried to respect the nature and to conserve resources. You can go shopping in Seggiano (7 km) or Castel del Piano (4 km). If you stay longer and would like help for cleaning and bed linen, you can settle this directly with our help at a cost of € 10 per hour / bed cover.
Southern Tuscany is an ancient cultivated land since the Etruscans, the beautiful landscapes can be found on many Renaissance paintings and yet this inspiring area is not crowded, so you will find peace, relaxation and self-reflection here. The special thing about this land is its unique blend of undestroyed nature and incredibly rich, over 2 millennia cultural development. Scattered in the landscape there are farmhouses situated on top of the hills between olive trees and vineyards.

  • Very comfortable and cozy two-room apartment, with everything you need to stay for more than a day. Located in a charming village, a stone's throw from the fortress and the castle of Castiglione, in a strategic position to reach the main attractions of the Val d'Orcia. Angelo was a precise and friendly host, he made us feel at home and gave good advice. We hope to return to have breakfast again in the gazebo in front of the entrance which offers a magnificent view of the hills.

My home is located 100 meters from one of the best restaurants in the area, "La Scottiglia"; 1 km from the wonderful garden of Daniel Spoerri, close to the Monte Amiata Wildlife Park and Monte Labbro, with stunning panoramic views and the ski slopes at 9 km. It is suitable for couples and families (with children). The MAXIMUM capacity of the house is 5 people (sofa bed in the living room).
The balcony entrance is independent; on each window are mounted mosquito nets. The view from my home is unique as its sunsets and the hamlet so quiet…

  • The place of Silvia is a proper flat in a larger compound of flats. Most of the other places are currently not occupied, so it was nice and quiet there. Everything in the place was perfect for our needs (we where on multi day hiking trip). There was a well functioning kitchen, a balcony with nice views and some space to dry our washing (which we could wash in the supplied washing machine). But the best was Silvia: it was very easy to communicate with here as she was very quick in replying and speaks fluent english (and italian of course and Spanish and french apparently). She was super friendly in the sense which we haven't seen before on our travels. We came hiking to her place and where a bit misinformed about the area so we could not get food for the night. She offered to bring us something with her car from the next village which saved us and our mood this evening! (Next day, the restaurants in pescina where open again). We met Silvia next morning at the local restaurant where we had our breakfast and chatted a bit with her, which was very nice and interesting. She seems to really enjoy hosting guests and this kind of hosts make the life of a traveler so much nicer. Thanks again, Silvia!

  • Silvia is a very kind person, very helpful and nice.lei provides everything that is in the house, and I must say that really nothing is missing.I and my husband we had a great time.

    Simona2018-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Silvia's home was exactly as described. Very clean, spacious, and everything at your fingertips. At that time (early April) it was still a little cold so we had to use 1 bag of pellets in the stove (for 2 days), but Silvia had warned us. The apartment is near Montalcino and Montepulciano (notice to lovers of good wines), and in a beautiful area (many abbeys of all times in small villages). Below is the restaurant La Scottiglia which is also excellent, offering specialties of this region to drink and eat. In short, excellent time spent in Tuscany, thanks in large part to the accommodation of Silvia that we will not hesitate to recommend.

  • Silvia is very pretty and helpful. The house very comfortable and clean. The location is good for those who want to go skiing, less than 10 km from the slopes. We really enjoyed it, we will definitely be back!

Brezza apartment is compoused by a livingroom, with a night area whith sofa bed,one kitchen and one bathroom at ground floor, two bedrooms, a little lounge and a bathroom at the upper floor. The other apartments are: Petra, Fonte Ciliegio and Brezza.
  • We had a wonderful stay at Luca's place, flexibly check in and out. Beautiful house with nice country side styling, and full of nature around, a great place to have chill and relax in Tuscany.

    Chia Ying2018-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Luca's house was exactly what we were looking for. A beautiful rustic home in the country split in to 4 apartments that allowed us to spend time with family without being on top of each other. Our time at Luca's house was simply magical. The kids played outdoors in the grass and daisies; with the little stream that flows through the property, and with the cats that call the property home. We launched little 1/2 day trips to varies places around Luca's house, and then came home and relaxed and fired up the BBQ. Let's not forget the spectacular view from the property. We often ate out too just down the hill at "da Luca" in Pescina, which was always good for a tasty treat. We had no interest in doing 3 hour tourist lines for galleries and museums in Rome and Florence, and were very happy staying at Luca's house and seeing a different side to Italy. Luca's a great host who is willing to take the time to tell you about places nearby. He's very knowledgeable and we even had him and his wife over for dinner which was a lot of fun. We miss it already and we will definitely go back.

    Matthew2018-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Luca's House is located on Monte Amiata, completely secluded from everything else, so it is reachable only by car. The house is very stylish and the scenery beautiful, we enjoyed our stay very much. The sauna is a great plus. Luca was patient and helpful in answering all of our questions regarding the area. I would highly recommend staying here, it was a really special experience.

  • We really loved staying here. After the hectic days in Rome, this quite place was just right. Still it was very easy to make day trips to tuscan towns nearby. You definitely need a car here, but the scenery makes up for it.

  • Luca is a considerate, accommodating, discreet and discreet host. The place is fabulous for a break in a dream environment. The house is large, clean, well equipped and full of charm

  • Beautiful place, lovely cool and quiet with a nice second swimming pool and ample sunbathing area. Enough space for privacy even if there are more people.

  • Lucas house was an absolute dream! Straight out of a fairytale. It's beautiful, spacious, artistic, authentic, and absolutely charming! Luca and his wife are both very sweet and helpful. The house is located in very scenic mountains with lots of hiking spots. Also near the beautiful hot springs- which are a must see! The nearby towns are all very adorable as well.

  • Lovely place in the middle of Tuscany. Perfect for a weekend of relaxation with sauna and hot springs. Luca is a formidable host, very available and perfect person for a chat about the region. He has many tips on what to do in the area and probably can also give you a tip or two regarding home improvement. :) All in all, it was a lovely stay in a lovely place!

Montalcino è situata a 20 km, l'inverno per passeggiare e/o sciare sul Monte Amiata. La camera ha l'entrata e il bagno indipendenti.
Essendo in piena campagna lo spazio esterno non manca.

  • What a Gem! We booked our stay with Sophie last minute and only stayed one night. We wish we could have stayed longer!! Her house and land is absolutely beautiful and in a great location! Just put the Coordinates into your GPS and it takes you right there! She made us an incredible breakfast and gave us lots of suggestions for things to do and see in the area. Ask her to show you pictures of when they bought their house and tell you about the repair process. Quite a story!

    Em2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The room in Sophie's house is very neat, clean and welcoming. A few km from the thermal baths of Saturnia, Bagni San Filippo, Bagni Vignone, Petriolo is ideal as a support. The area is beautiful, with breathtaking views, with fruit trees, far from the bustle of the city, in the open countryside. In the room there are also herbal teas of various types and everything you need to prepare them. The bathroom, very clean and tidy, is in the room so privacy is guaranteed. If you are used to using the bidet you will not find it here but you have a shower in the room so the problem does not arise. The very kind, punctual, friendly and very friendly host provides very useful information for your stay and prepares rich and delicious breakfasts based on pies and fruit compotes produced with natural ingredients. Highly recommended!

    Ilaria2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The B&B is all in stone immersed in a field of olive trees with only crickets and moon to accompany the evenings. We only stayed one night, and we loved it! Stone outside and large wooden beams inside with the bricks that make up the ceiling of a small closet where, in a rather funny way, there is a shower outside the bathroom because it just didn't fit there. At the entrance we are welcomed by Sophie's husband who advises us to have dinner at the chestnut festival in nearby Abbadia San Salvatore, a very beautiful medieval village where we ate excellent mushrooms and chestnuts! Thanks also to Sophie, good and plentiful breakfast; very nice and useful in the evening especially the thought of putting tea and herbal tea in the room with the kettle. Room suitable for couples ...

  • It is a magical and perfect place for those who need to switch off from everyday life, from those who need to reconnect with themselves, with nature and learn how to live slowly and clearly. Very friendly and willing to give good advice. I would definitely recommend it to friends and acquaintances. Thanks Luca !!!!

  • We had a lovely stay at Luca’s place!! It felt so good to be surrounded by nature and calm. A little piece of heaven, litteraly. The appartment was also really cute and well equiped. It was perfect for a couple getaway. We were a little sad to notice that the pool and the spa were’nt open yet but I guess it will be in few days/weeks. Also I would recommend for you to rent a car to get there because the main attractions are at least 30 minutes driving away. Also not to forgot that we had a really great host! Luca was nice and always there to help. We recommand it very much!

    Karolynn2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Luca is a very helpful person and not at all intrusive, the apartment is surrounded by peace, very welcoming and intimate with everything that can be used to stay. Excellent location to visit the small villages in the area and the various spa areas. I would definitely recommend coming back!

    Andrea2018-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • If Luca isn't a superhost he should be! What a great guy. What a special peaceful and magical find. Hidden on the slopes of the mountain. A lesser travelled road. Calm. Peaceful. We did a day trip to the Mediterranean from here and also to the local hot springs. It's all relatively close. Before you arrive make sure you tell Luca to prepare the hot tub!

The room has an independent access and includes the use of a little kitchen/living room and a bathroom that could be shared. The rear door gives access to a sunny patio, available to guests.
We are located on the slopes of Monte Amiata, an extinct Tuscan volcano,  near the ancient village of Seggiano  and hot springs that were highly valued by the Etruscans. The landscape is divided between the austere, imposing presence of the volcano with its chestnut trees and larch woods, on one side and lush, green hills planted with olive trees and vineyards on the other. Holiday Farm, whose oldest part dates back to 1600, is surrounded by the greenery of the quiet Bugnano River valley, which lies about 20 yards away.  Particular care has been taken in the renovation of the buildings in accordance with green building principles. The Farm is being organized by the principles of permaculture and natural agriculture and is energy self-sufficient. You can choose between a small apartment, a large comfortable room with private bathroom or a caravan in the nature. You are Welcome!
Less than one hour to Siena and Grosseto and two hours to Florence and Rome, the area surrounding Seggiano presents opportunities to explore both natural and cultural attractions. Nice apartment in the middle of the village. The forniture, all choosen with love and care, are new and perfectly working. The house is near to wooden paths, mountain, thermal bath about at 15 minutes. The water of Vivo d'Orcia is particular and good, fresh, a tipycal mountai water. Just outside the house door, there is a nice fountain for water.

  • Fiora's home is a real gem set in a wonderful place like Monte Amiata. We really appreciated the attention to detail in the house, aimed at making it more welcoming than ever. Making us find some breakfast products at home was a gesture not due and therefore even more appreciated. The apartment overlooks a small street with little traffic and for this reason it is quiet and from home you can reach a bar, a tobacconist and a supermarket in less than a minute. I recommend to anyone who wants to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying the landscapes of the beloved mountain, the Fiora lodging

    Alessandro2019-08-22T00:00:00Z

  • We were the first guests at Fiora's and everything went very well! The house is very pretty and equipped with everything, beautifully furnished. Fiora and her husband are very available to all needs and requests. Vivo d'Orcia is a good starting point to see the whole Val D'Orcia. In short, I recommend it!

  • Very kind and very helpful hosts, the house is equipped with everything you need and is warm and welcoming. Montelaterone is charming and very suggestive, silent and at the same time vital. The surrounding area offers various possibilities not far by car, from visits to the historic centers of the villages close to nature excursions. Perfect for retiring for a relaxing break.

  • Federica was so kind to wait for us till late evening, altough our group was delayed a lot.. and she very kindly showed us the way to the place. The place is quite tiny for four people bud very cosy and the experience of staying in such a beautiful historical place was magic.

    Veronika2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We have never seen such a beautiful little house and we loved the cozy atmosphere of the village. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful and we felt very welcome. The printed list of recommendations was very useful in terms of both shopping, restaurants and excursions. We would definitely recommend this to others!

  • We were in this wonderful place, we had booked the room but since the other room was free we had the whole house at our disposal. The accommodation is in a beautiful place, isolated and surrounded by nature, the house is very welcoming and well kept we found the stove already lit. We hope to return soon, maybe in the spring. Luisa is a really helpful host, very fast in communications, she gave us many useful tips on things to do and places to eat. Really recommended.

    Roberta2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • What to say .. all absolutely perfect !! We arrived in the evening and Luisa and Andrea welcomed us as friends, the directions were precise, they gave us a lot of advice (which we did well to follow!). The house was spotless, warm, with all the comforts and even more, including a baby bed, and is located in a magical place. Experience that we hope to have the chance to repeat, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

    Aulaquattro2018-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We spend one week in Luisa's little house. 100 weeks too little, we noticed at our way back. We searched for a calm place in order to enjoy the nature. We found the most beautiful landscape where we have ever been, lovely hosts which were reliable and supportive (Thanks for welcome us so nicely) and a cosy place where we felt like at home immediately. We will come back soon with more time, promised ;)

    Alex2018-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place where the house is located is absolutely magical and surprising ... surrounded by nature, with only around trees, lawns, animals and a large rock that seems to protect the house; inside and everything is taken care of down to the smallest details..the floor in stone slabs, the beamed ceiling and the window with a view of the grove just above the headboard of the bed! Luisa and very kind as well as being an interesting person ... in a special way for her agronomist culture;)

    Lara2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Luisa is very welcoming and smiling. The place is particularly relaxing and calm. The cottage of Luisa is superb. A must address

    Anne Marie2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two wonderful and relaxing days in the cosy (!!!!) apartement of Luisa. During this days we became best friends with her cats Giuletta and Romeo, ate the best Pizza of our life (and we are very experienced! :P), took a bath in the hot springs of St. Filipo and were happy and satisfied. The only problem was that we had to leave after 2 nights, because we had to fly back to Germany :( Luisa was very helpful, she organised reservations and planned for us a perfect day in the surrounding area! Thank you for all :) We will come back again - and next time for a longer stay :) Christian & Kathrin ps.: We loved your style of living and we will try to copy some features to make our home as cosy as yours!

    Kathrin2017-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Luisa went perfectly. Very welcoming, Luisa provided us with all the information on the surrounding countryside. The accommodation has a lot of charm, is very well furnished and located in an idyllic place!

    Grégoire2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Luisa's home was a magical escape in the middle of Tuscany. The property terms with life and was a peaceful escape from more hectic destinations on our trip to Italy. Despite others staying on the property while we were there, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. The house was equipped with everything that you need to make your stay as homely as possible, perfect for cooking in and enjoying meals in Tuscan evenings in the calm of the valley. As a host Luisa was consummate, friendly and thoughtful. She communicated well with us and gave an exhaustive list of activities in the area - although the property proves hard to leave. Could not reccomend more highly.

E' una piacevole casa piena di luce, immersa nel silenzio della campagna, vicino ad una chiesetta e una pista per cavalli
  • Great villa in a cozy region of Tuscany. 5 minutes by car to the center of the town and the store. Stephanie - a responsive hostess, quickly answered, helped to get firewood for the fireplace. The house is warm, cozy, beautiful furniture, there is everything you need in the kitchen, clean. It is very nice to sit at a table by the panoramic window in the kitchen. Horses lived near the house, and we went to admire them))) A great place to relax and explore the surroundings

  • Stefania's accommodation is truly a hidden gem in the wonderful nature of the Sienese hills..we strongly recommend a holiday for those in search of peace, nature and relaxation..pur having the opportunity to visit nearby places that deserve to be seen!

    Roberto2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house, great, with all amenities, wonderful stylish place, very nice hostess. Parking on the property. Available fireplace, large and comfortable beds, spacious rooms, 2 bathrooms are very practical. The only small thing: the driveway is a little complicated and in poor condition. Thank you and we can definitely recommend to anyone who wants to stay in this area. We were very satisfied.

    Lenka2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly equipped and super clean country house! Stefania's accommodation exceeded our expectations in every way. This was partly due to the great location just below the beautiful village of Castel del Piano in the middle of nature with short distances to Monte Amiata, to various wineries, to Siena, to the beach (Marina di Grosseto is completely empty in the off-season) and to numerous small villages with a nice atmosphere; and on the other hand, the equipment of the house with its 3 bedrooms (double bed, 2 single beds, a single bed) and 2 bathrooms upstairs and the huge living and dining area with large picture window, large dining table and comfortable seating area on the ground floor. All windows are equipped with mosquito nets, so that it can be ventilated without any problems. The kitchen is well equipped with great attention to detail. The whole house is very clean and Stefania was always available for us with minor issues (garbage, Wi-Fi, key). We felt very welcome and very comfortable and recommend this accommodation without restrictions.

    David2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stefani's house is located among neighboring small farms. From the windows there is a beautiful view has nearby towns. Access to the main road takes only 3 minutes. The house is equipped with all necessary home accessories. All rooms were clean and decorated in accordance with the Tuscan climate. We are happy to come back to this place. There you can really feel like in a typical Tuscan estate.

    Jędrzej2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Ms. Stefania was a very welcoming and scrupulous person. The house accommodates up to 5 people although we have only used one bedroom and a bathroom with shower attached to the bedroom. Presence of a second bathroom. Location of the house 5 minutes from the town of Castel del Piano very well served (private pool, tennis courts, supermarket, hospital ...). With the car you can reach very beautiful villages nearby in the Val d'Orcia. The farm is a well finished structure even if being in the middle of the hill it is possible to bump into the house with some bugs. For us it was not a problem but maybe someone who fears them could get "scared". For the rest, we also recommend the structure for the position in which it is located.

    David2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Stefania's house is beautifully situated at the foot of Castel del Piano, in a quiet, rural area. The views and sunsets are really amazing here. The house is comfortable, spacious and equipped with everything you need and even more. You won't find here furniture from Ikea or discount tableware, but each item is unique and creates the mood of the house. The house is ideal for holidays with children and gives the opportunity to explore the entire area (Siena, Montepulciano, Pitigliano, Soprano - 1 hour, Pienza, Grosetto, Termy di Petriolo, San Filippo - 45 min.). We were positively surprised by the change of bed linen and towels after a week's stay. We spent 12 days here and really didn't want to leave :) Thank you for a great holiday, great contact and hospitality. We strongly recommend to all those in love in Italy and Tuscany.

    Jarosław2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • A fairytale place. The house is beautiful, it is on two floors, very clean, well equipped, it is isolated, there is maximum tranquility and privacy. The lush forest in which it is immersed is fairytale. The distance from the town of Castel del Piano is less than 5 minutes by car, so for every need it is possible to reach all the services immediately. I have no problems with insects, but whoever had, should not be frightened by the location because the house is protected by mosquito nets everywhere and insects do not enter. In short, everything really perfect, I just hope to come back soon !!!

  • The accommodation is located under the fortress of Campiglia, certainly in a very charming position but above all very convenient for visiting the Monte Amiata both on the Grosseto side and on the Siena side. Excellent finishings and complete with everything necessary to stay even for several days. Recommended.

  • It was a pleasure to stay at Lamberto's place, everything in the house is new and works perfectly, we only used the double bed and it is very comfortable, the bathroom is well equipped as well. On the one side from the kitchen and large bedroom there are fantastic views of the Val d'Orcia and on the other side there is a very nice terrace. Lamberto is very reactive and communication via WhatApp with him very effective. I would definitely recommend this place.

  • One of the most beautiful locations you could possibly stay at. Me, my two sisters and our mother stayed at the house during a recent mother-daughter trip to Italy in January. Thanks to Google Maps and Luisa's direction it was easy to find the house, even though it is in a rural setting and far off the beaten track. We loved everything about the house and the location, and were very sad that we couldn't stay a bit longer. The house is cozy, comfortable and well-equipped. Since it was middle of winter it was quite cold in this part of Italy, but Luisa made fires in the upstairs and downstairs fireplaces for us every night which warmed the cottage up nicely. Luisa is the perfect host, friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Can definitely recommend this place, and we cannot wait to go back.

    Denene2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Luisa's place is great, for children and adults at the same time. We spent 2 weeks in the house with 3 children. The kids enjoyed the climbing rocks and trees and the lovely cats and dogs. We loved the quietness, the nature and the great view into the landscape. Luisa lives next door but still you don't see her a lot. But if you meet her she is just spreading happiness and satisfaction. If you are her guest you feel welcome, warm and home right from the start. The house has everything you need, it is cosy, clean and spacious. We did a lot activities from there: We went to some beaches, visited some towns and villages, were hiking in different landscapes and enjoyed some hot springs. This variety is all possible from Luisa's house. We had great holidays, thank you Luisa!

    Ulrike2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, quiet place in the middle of a bright chestnut forest. Luisa and Andrea are very warm and unobtrusive hosters and we felt very comfortable in their house. The friendly animals (3 dogs, 3 cats) were a great enrichment for us. We have discovered great places in the area, including hot springs, pretty towns, the wonderful Monte Amiata and of course many great restaurants. Also, the sea can be reached in just over 1 hour and was very clean and pleasant. I and my family can warmly recommend Terra delle Sidhe - many thanks to Luisa and Andrea!

    Tom2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • It is a magical, silent space, a home. You feel at home, surrounded by nature and in an area not very touristy close to going to know villages, walking to the river, or simply staying to enjoy this special house. Plan an extra day just to enjoy the house

    Lucia2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • 5 stars all round for Luisa and Andrea. The house is just perfect for your stay in Tuscany; look nowhere else, you won’t find better. Wonderful hospitality from our hosts. We will be back!

    Jordan2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a must stay. Perfect hosts, magical house the real authentic country experience. Kids had a ball checking out the river, the farm and playing fetch with dogs. We recommend just booking it!

    Michelle2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We already envy anyone who is lucky enough to find this offer on Airbnb and get to the magical house of Luisa. This is a spectacular place. All the house and the garden are just for you, you will not be able to explore it all, so big it is. The house is furnished with a great taste, since the owner is a true artist. You will feel her love for nature, which you will find in each detail in the house, like pieces of chestnut wood decorating rooms. You will have a nice terazza outside where you can eat meals surrounded by the flowers. The kitchen is so well equipped that you will enjoy making dinner for 10 people. I don't remember any plastics - all is made out of wood or other natural materials. You feel really taken care of - Luisa even thought about colour pencils for drawing. There is plenty of books, leaflets and albums about Tuscany. And the dogs and the cats, kind and friendly, coming to see you every morning - we miss them already. The view of the window in the morning - outstanding. And you are in the middle of the countryside, enjoying the beautiful view of the valley, of medieval towns with towers on the hills on the other side. Don't miss little foxes when you are driving in the evening! Luisa's hospitality is a great gift you will be able to enjoy. The benchmark has been set very very high...

    Monika2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • It was such sweet get-away thanks to you. Each member of our family got lots of energy from Luisa’s cottage. We enjoyed every little things in this house even wooden hand made soap tray. Now I am looking forward to having a chance to stay here in winter season with the fire place. Thanks Luisa~

Nestling on top of a medieval village, an outpost of the crumbling castle guarding the area. The house faces the Amiata volcano and the fertile valley home to olive groves, vineyards and chestnut woods. The downstairs door opens on to the terrace to step into nature, from sunrise to sunset, at any time. The neighborhood is in a word..quiet..the village itself is home to less than 200 people..making for an incredibly tight-knit and welcoming community.
Open terrace with table and deckchairs. Garden with bench, hammock or baby bouncer depending on the ages! Stunning view of the mountain volcano in a medieval hilltop village, look out from your house at the top, which sits undisturbed in perfect harmony with the surroundings..
A medieval village with a population under 200. There is one bar 'La Brizza' run by 3 local women https://www.maremmaguide.com/montelaterone.html
  • Carlo's apartment is rather a gem with a lovely terrace and view. Carlo was very hospitable and helpful and I really enjoyed my stay.

The apartment, about 75 m², with double private access, is located on the lower floor of the farmhouse surrounded by greenery and consists of a double bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, a large living room and a bathroom.
The Tavern apartment, with double private access, is located on the lower floor of the farmhouse and consists of a double bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, a large living room and a bathroom, and has an area of about 75 square meters. The apartment is located within the farm Bindozzino, lovingly run by a characteristic and friendly family of authentic farmers and nestled in a picturesque setting in the Natural Park of Val d'Orcia, rich in villages to explore and known for the presence of numerous thermal springs. The farmhouse is surrounded by approximately 25 hectares of cereals, grapes and olives from which is extracted a precious extra virgin olive oil that our guests can taste. The portion of property available to guests is separated by a short stretch of dirt road from the farm where the owners live. The likely origins of the farmhouse dates back to the sixteenth century and was built entirely using local materials. The recent restoration has returned the charm and grandeur of the past to the entire structure, respecting all the original features that make the Farm Bindozzino an authentic and unique place to spend time relaxing.
Farmhouse Bindozzino is located in the area of Castiglione d'Orcia that marks the boundary between Val d’Orcia and the Monte Amiata forests. Once the property of the Aldobrandeschi family, it was contested in the 14th century between the Salimbeni family and Siena. In the village centre there’s a piazza dedicated to the painter and sculptor Lorenzo di Pietro known as Vecchietta. In the middle, there is a travertine well dating back to 1618 and the piazza is overlooked by the Town Hall. The churches of Santa Maria Maddalena and Santi Stefano e Degna are noteworthy. The centre is dominated by the remains of the Aldobrandeschi Fortress and the magnificent Rocca a Tentennano fortress.
  • Of all the many places we have stayed in the world, this was the first place where the scenery literally brought tears to our eyes. The house is remote from any other structure. It is 16th century and appropriately basic but clean, warm, and plenty of hot water. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and our host. She only speaks Italian but we had no real problem communicating.

  • Hello! We rested in this wonderful place from September 4 to September 13, 2019. Unfortunately, the photos of the hosts cannot reflect the allure of this place: beautiful views of the hills, enchanting sunsets, evening silence and the chatter of night cicadas. But we will try to describe in detail all the charms of our stay ... Firstly, we planned to travel a lot around Tuscany and the place of our stop was the most convenient for us: on the one hand, you can easily get to any interesting places (Florence, Venice, Verona, Siena and even Rome) - which we did, on the other hand - in the evening we returned to this quiet place surrounded by an olive garden and with beautiful views of the valley for a wonderful dinner in this picturesque place. It is worth noting that for lovers to relax on the sea - it is easy to get from here (only 1-1 / 5 hours) to the beautiful beaches with pine forests. We travel a lot, but for the first time we met such wonderful hosts as Zaire and her family! Zaire invited us to dinner (at one of which an accordion concert was arranged in our honor!), Advised where to go better and what interesting things could be seen in the district, supplied us with products from her farm! Everything was just wonderful and family friendly! It was hard for us to leave such lovely and kind people and such a wonderful place, we will definitely come back here!) Marina

  • My wife and I just spent the most magical and special 3 nights at this Tuscan farmhouse. Did not expect the experience of watching the sunset with miles and miles of the Tuscan countryside before us. This destination is at the top of a range of hills with magnificent views and the sight of several hilltop villages and the towns of Montalcino and Cinigiano across the valleys from us. Personal transportation is a must to explore and enjoy the many towns and facets of this majestic region. It took us a few hours to realize that our previous 10 days in various Italian cities did not prepare us for the uniqueness of this opportunity to be totally immersed in this special part of the world. We left refreshed, renewed and deeply blessed. Communication with the host was with a lot of smiles and GoogleTranslate. No WiFi but 2 bars of LTE smartphone connection outside on the lawn.

    Rick2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were extremely lovely. The place was beautiful and views just breathtaking. It is settled in the beautiful region of castiglione d’orcia were you can visit many small towns or go swimming in natural hot springs called “terme”. We loved our stay and everything was great!

  • The accommodation is located in a beautiful location and offers a fantastic view over the countryside. In the house it is as described, spacious and pleasantly cool. We were there in June with sunshine and heat there. The garden and the surrounding area offer all possibilities to enjoy the tranquility and nature, thermal springs, Monte Amiata, the beautiful monastery of Sant'Antimo, the Parco Faunistico - there we met no one on our hike - or the small beautiful places with their squares, the invite to stay, everything next to. We have enjoyed our stay. The hosts are very welcoming, everything was simple and easy, although we do not speak Italian. Their own products whether salami, olive oil, pasta, jam, fruit .... just delicious. I can recommend this accommodation without restrictions.

  • We arrived right at check in time and I was caught by surprise that the beautiful views at sunset actually brought a tear to my eye. This place has charm for days! So peaceful and idyllic. If using Google Maps definitely search the name of the place instead of the address. I read this in advance, forgot, and ended up on a bit of an adventure. Totally my own fault. There are helpful signs when you're in the correct place which will lead you to the house. I wouldnt suggest trying to drive a low slung vehicle up. Right at the last bit the road gets a bit choppy. Also be sure to bring bug spray because, trust me, you will want to spend all your time outside looking at the beauty. I even got up before dawn one morning to catch the stars. They didn't disappoint. Vastly many more stars viewable here than you can see in city life. Bring your own food for lovely picnics. The kitchen has got you covered for dishes and cutlery. Truly an experience unlike any other I've had.

  • First and foremost.. the views on this farm are majestic. The sunsets over the hills of olive trees and vines with the mountains in the distance make for colorful bucolic outside dinners. You can even drink the homemade wine made from their grapes and eat the olive oil and ragu made on their farm. The secluded farm house is rustic and quaint. As a result, there are some features that naturally accompany such a place, like some bugs. For us, it is a non-issue. But if you are scared of an occasional spider this might not be your place. If you want to get off the grid yet enjoy the nearby surround Tuscan Medieval Towns, this is a spectacular option. Zaira and Fabruzio do not speak English so be prepared to communicate with gestures if your Italian is poor. We speak virtually no Italian and everything worked out fine. Cant wait to come back!

  • This place is everything that it looks to be. It’s situated atop a Tuscan mountain on the edge of an olive farm. The views are just barely beat by the views from the drive getting there. We enjoyed watching sunsets and waking up to drink coffee and enjoy the valley lighting up. The inside is a little on the minimum with amenities, but this suited us just fine as we wanted a place to sit down, relax, drink wine, and read. We were able to buy olive oil and wine that they make right there on their farm which was neat. They only speak Italian so the language barrier was a little difficult but we were able to handle everything smoothly. I would recommend this to any couple that loves to get away from society for a peaceful break. It is calm, quiet, and the views are incredible. Also, check out the restaurant Osteria Santa Caterina. It’s just a few hundred meters down the road from the house. It had great food, views, and we loved attempting to converse with the waiter/owner.

    Castiglione D'orcia, Toscana, Italy

Apartment, sleeps 3 w twin bed, kitchen, dining, bathroom and panoramic deck. The farm overlooks the medieval town of Seggiano and Val D'Orcia at the foot of Monte Amiata in South central Tuscany, halfway between Siena and the beaches of Maremma.
The Podere is a 4 hectare (10 acre) traditional Tuscan farm (certified organic) situated in one of the last truly unspoiled and untrodden areas of Tuscany. Podere San Martino consists of small group of newly renovated and charming stone buildings located at the end of a tree lined private country lane, on a ridge overlooking the town Seggiano with accommodations for up to five people in two separate furnished apartments: the "Olivella" and the "Elm". The accommodations: The "Olivella" has a spacious living room with a kitchen and dining area and a comfortable double bedroom with adjoining bathroom. The living room is furnished with a sofa bed. The "Elm" consists of a large double bedroom with bathroom, small kitchen and a terrace overlooking the Val d'Orcia. Both apartments have independent entrances. The original stone pizza oven is available to guests, as are various picnic areas, flower and vegetable gardens, cherry orchards, vineyards and 4 hectares of olive groves. The landscape: Located in Southern Tuscany at the foot of Monte Amiata (1,768 M) and on the border of the provinces of Siena and Grosseto, San Martino is half way between the medieval towns of Seggiano and Castel del Piano. From its hill top, looking down into the Val D’Orica, Podere San Martino offers 360 degrees of panoramic views; with sunrise above Monte Amiata, the extinct volcano once considered sacred to the Etruscans - to the East and spectacular sunsets over the Potentino Castel (11th century) and the down across the Val D’Orcia to the West, where on a clear day, the hills of Corsica are visible on the horizon. The area is internationally renown for both, its olive oil, Olivastra Seggianese (DOP) and its wines; Montecucco, Brunello di Montalcino and Morellino di Scansano. The history of San Martino The first documented origins of Podere San Martino date back to the fourteenth century, when it was the hermitage of a community of Franciscan monks who tended the farm’s fields, vineyards and olive groves. Local legends recount tales of a lost Etruscan treasure hidden on the farm somewhere within its surrounding hills. Podere San Martino stands in what can be considered one of the last truly wilderness areas in Tuscany where one can encounter boar, deer, porcupines, hedgehogs and hear the songs of cuckoo, upapa, thrushes and black birds, the cries of falcons, hawks and in the evening the nightingale.
Places to visit: Parco degli Etruschi - Monte Amiata, the Monte Labbro Natural Reserve- Montalcino- Val D'Orcia During the autumn one can search for wild mushrooms in the nearby chestnut groves and beech wood forests on Monte Amiata. In winter the slopes of Monte Amiata offer over 25 km of ski and snowboard trails. We are a short distance from the historic and cultural heritage sites of interest such as Pienza , Montalcino, San Quirico d'Orcia, Montepulciano and many exclusive thermal spas (terme) as well as hot springs open to the public without charge, such as Bagni S. Filippo, Bagno Vignoni, Petriolo and Saturnia. For contemporary art lovers the farm faces the Sculpture Garden of Daniel Spoerri, one of the cofounders of the Nouveau réalisme (New realism) artistic movement founded in 1960 with the art critic Pierre Restany and the painter Yves Klein. The Garden contains sculptures by the leading artists of the Nouveau réalisme and Fluxis movements, such as Armand, Jean Tinguely, Eva Aeppli and Dieter Roth as well as works by many younger contemporary artists. Hiking and mountain bike For lovers of hiking and mountain biking there are many beautiful trails through the unspoiled natural mountain setting; “A recent network of trails crisscrosses Amiata, uniting the mountain towns between themselves and the peak, and allowing the gathering together of an extraordinary natural and cultural patrimony. At the same time, this network links up with the principle routes which pass through the rest of the Sienese and Grosseto provinces, underscoring the centrality of southern Tuscany, and lending a regional scope to the existing system of trails. The trails stretch to about 215 Km/134 miles, divided into two main routes linked to the great ring around the volcanic cone, for a total of 19 main trails which include surrounding paths.” Abbey of Sant'Antimo The original Benedictine monastery dating to the time of Charlemagne (742-814) approximately 10 km from Montalcino about 9 km from the Via Francigena, the pilgrim route to Rome.
  • It's a house i will build for myself and stay. Simple, minimal, double heighted loaded with all you need with a small patio a chair and table to breathe in the gorgeous tuscan views. Jacobella and her entire family were really warm and supportive. We had long chats with her son about living in italy and their kids were too cute. The house is perfect for a week stay and you can visit the best part of Tuscany. Montalcino, pienza, montepulciano, pitigliano from here. It's all around 30-45 mins away from this house. Hoping to go back and stay there.

  • This was an absolute highlight of our trip! Such a beautiful location with the lovely Orsa the dog to greet us. Cosy room in a picturesque area close enough to towns for dinner etc. WiFi didn’t work really for us, but we weren’t too fussed as this was a nice break from the digital world. Lovely hosts and very attentive with tips and suggestions for visiting the area 10/10 would stay again

  • This is a beautiful place to stay. The location is close to seggiano and easy to find. Gabriele was really helpful and met us on arrival even though it was past midnight. The house is simple but has all we needed for a short stay..we really didn't want to leave and could have stayed much longer. The little terrace has a stunning view and is a suntrap. We were greeted each morning by lovely Orsa the dog. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back again.

  • The accommodation is beautiful, with views out over the nearby hilltowns and nature. The place is great, with a fully equipped kitchen, a fireplace and a comfy bed! The location is perfect for exploring Tuscany and further by car. Word of warning to get a rental car with some clearance at the front, ours was a bit low for the driveway and tuscan roads :). Jacobella was lovely and very helpful with plenty of tips for the area. The dog Orso is our new favourite. We enjoyed our stay so much and hope to come back! Grazie mille

    Tom2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, remote cottage, where you can watch great sunsets from the small patio. The location is ideal for laying back and enjoying day trips to the area. Jacobella's daughter guided us to the house and we were more than friendly welcomed by Panna Orsa (their dog). Highly recommended!

This apartment, Ciliegio , is compoused by a livingroom with kichinet, bathroom, and two bedrooms at the upper floor, ideal for 4/6 people. The other apartments are: Petra, Fonte and Brezza. Yoga courses can also be organized.

  • Don't hesitate, just book. The house is beautifully situated. The apartment as well as the host have tons of character. The environment is truly magical. A beautiful region to discover the enchanting Tuscany. At dawn you can spot deer, and in the evening you enjoy the spectacle of fireflies. A perfect place to soak up the peace and quiet. Highly recommended!

  • The apartment has a lot of character and charm. It’s a bit dark but that comes with the stone architecture. Take your coffee or meals outside and enjoy the amazing views and ambiance. The setting is extraordinarily beautiful and peaceful. The bathroom is rustic but well kept. Luca was very responsive to any requests.

  • Luca's place is straight out of a dream: an old stone house on a mountain in Tuscany stylishly renovated, with a charming and thoughtful host. I haven't yet mentioned the sauna and jacuzzi. The place and location and host are all amazing.

  • The camp area down in the woods is exactly that, rustic basic camping in beautiful surroundings next to a brook (good for a refreshing dip). A large fire area with plenty of prepared wood made life very easy. Massimo is a great host: considerate, knowledgeable, helpful, and polite. If you are looking to get back to nature this is the place. Steak cooked over the BBQ with a couple of bottles of Brunello isn't exactly the worst thing in the world.
