  • An absolutely stunning find! Everything was wonderful, easy to access, high quality, and in a terrific locale! I sent the airbnb link home to friends and several asked if the apartment was actually THAT nice. My response: Even better! Thank you, Olafur, for making your place available! It's one of the nicest places I've ever stayed and the pride of ownership shows! A+++++++++++!!!!

  • Amazing view! Exactly as described.

  • This is a beautiful place to stay. The view of the harbor is lovely and even though it was cloudy we could see the faint light from Auroras behind the clouds. We stayed here for two nights, and very much liked the place. It was clean, comfortable, and homey. We appreciated being able to wash some laundry, and the grocery store is a short walk up the street, along with great places to eat. Hope we can come again!

  • A nice stay in this flat. Light full and charming. Exactly what we were looking for ! Nice view and great situation in the town.

    steve2015-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice, clean, and conveniently located. We took walks throughout the town and down to the harbor. Within a short distance, you can find a supermarket, a post office, and a few nice bakeries. The kitchen was well equipped, so we could cook our own meals at home. We were very comfortable staying in the apartment for two nights.

    Monika2014-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really amazing time in the absolutely perfect apartment. Thank you very much!

  • Sehr schönes kleines gemütliches Apartment, frisch renoviert und mit allen ausgestattet was man braucht ... On Top schnelles WLAN und Apple TV. Ein idealer Platz um von dort aus die Westfjorde zu erkunden. Braga und Ihr Mann sind superfreundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber ... Ich kann U31 house nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen.

The Old Slippur Marina apartment is located 5.min walk to the towns center in Isafjordur and has all the advantage the town has to offer like the swimming pool, restaurants, grocery stores and etc.
The Old Slippur Marina apartment is located in a really unique area, this area is preserved since is attached to the old heritage and maritime museum and there in the middle we have the unique restaurant Tjöruhúsið, with all that to discover you have an big open area as well around you so you'll get the feeling you are way out in the countryside, but still you are only 5. min walking to the center of the vibrating town of Isafjordur (Icefjord name of the town translated).
In Suðurtangi we have a lot of different Icelandic things colliding together in the same small area, we have the beach behind the house and a vibrant activity of icelandic water sports, mostly sailboats and kayaks, and then we have the heritage and maritime museum, then there is the old repair dock and a outdoor site all in this same magical area, to top it all we have the famous restaurant Tjöruhúsið right to the side of the house.
  • Great location right on the water.

    Sarah H2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Not so easy to find but Tony is very helpful! The apartment is big and well located. We have a pleasant stay BUT: lot of things wasn't clean enough (hairs in the shower and on the couch, dirty dishes and microwave, condition of the mattress, floor not scoured,...). We also had problem to close the windows...and hopfully Tony installed portable radiators because all other were out of order! I hope it will be better for next visitors!

    Gaël2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very central and check-in very easy! The place was also incredibly spacious and well-equipped for our stay. We would definitely visit and stay here again!

    Cristisvs2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Unlike what one reviewer complained about.... the apt was quiet roomy with a sofa bed that would fit four comfortably. Full kitchen, washing machine etc. I was satisfied and would stay again.

  • Tony's place was a lovely apartment in a lovely town. Check in was easy, it was cozy and well located.

  • Very solid for one night stay. The instructions where clear when we read them carefully. The apartment was clean. The wifi worked fine. All in all we had everything we needed for our stay over one night on our road trip.

Beautiful cabin in quet and nice area. The wiew is great, the birds are singing. I love this place and i hope you will too.
One bedroom for 2 people, kitchen, living room and bathroom with a shower. On the upper floor, I have mattresses for 2 people if necessary. It´s a beautiful peaceful area. In walking distance there is a golf course, and a beautiful waterfall. There is a big terrace with a table and 6 chairs where you can enjoy the amazing view along with breathing in the fresh air. It is a summerhouse area but peaceful. Everywhere in Iceland you can drink the water from the tab and it is better than bottle water bought from the store. Towels, barbecue, bedding included, oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, all kitchen supplies for 5 people. Smoking is not allowed in the cabin.
  • Simply our very best experience in Iceland , we had the chance to stay 3 nights at thorun's cottage and it was just fantastic the cottage is extremely cozy and everything is well thought The only negative point is that you feel so good inside is that you won't go outside We highly recommend long stays, you will regret to stay only one night !

    Fouad2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Þórunn was an excellent host and she explained everything clearly and was super-accurate. The cabin itself was a perfect small getaway with fabulous fjord views, but still in close proximity to Isafjordur. I recommend it entirely.

    Alexis2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying in Thorunn's cabin! It was beautiful, cozy, and really relaxing and fun. The view of the mountains and trees was very nice, and we especially enjoyed sitting out on the screened in porch with the heater looking out at nature and drinking tea! It was great to be off of the beaten path and out in nature, but still very very close to the city. We would most certainly stay here again, and would highly recommend it to others. There is no wifi, however, which may be a problem for some. We were happy to be away from wifi and get it when we went into town.

    Lindsay2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Such a charming cabin that is close to Isafjordur, the airport and the Bonus grocery store! There were plenty of heaters for when it got chilly at night - even on the sun porch! We loved lighting all the tea candles and eating on the porch. Thank you!

    Jennifer2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful & comfortable cabin in a secluded location that's also conveniently a short distance from the Bonus supermarket and the town center. If you find yourself in the Westfjords I highly recommend staying here.

    Greg2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is actually magical and we can't wait to visit again. The cabin is perfectly clean and organized and stocked with anything you could need. It was easy to locate and is super close to an inexpensive grocery store as well as a beautiful waterfall. The cabin is not at the city center, and this made the secluded vacation even better. Highly recommend.

The house very clean and tidy. All in all it was perfect stay and we would definetley recommend it. Thank you Jóna for the pleasent stay.

  • Jóna's apartment is absolutely a great place to stay. Very comfortable bedding, a nice bathroom, a table for breakfast. It's a cosy homely place and with the bad weather is was great to have Netflix. I would stay here again when coming to Isafjordur.

A cozy studio apartment with private entrance facing a large sunny garden. There you can barbecue in the evenings and enjoy your morning cup. Only 5 minutes walk downtown. The family lives upstairs with two dogs, Golden Retriever and Labrador.
Two cosy studios with private entrance. Mountain view and sea view. Quiet area, with a short walk to downtown Ísafjörður. Free Wi-Fi and free parking.
The neighbourhood is quiet, but a short walk to town. The scenery is beautiful, both mountain view and sea view. Shorter and longer walks to the mountain and to the valley, or just down town
  • We were let in by a neighbor since our host was on vacation for the weekend. The place was clean and spacious. We had a stocked kitchen and nice bathroom. There was a view of the mountains and a little outdoor space which was nice bit we didn't use it much. It was easy to find and there was parking. The place got a little humid in the morning and there didn't seem to be any heat controls that we could find, but it was still warm. Overall, we really enjoyed it.

    Erik2015-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice stay. Can not complain of anything. Since first contact service was friendly and wery helpfull. Location was excelent, just next to downtown. It's easy to park car on the street. From the flat it self you could ask more.

  • This place was SO cozy and thoughtfully appointed. We had everything we needed and more. Sigridur was lovely and came down to greet us. We ended up having our favorite meal of our visit to Iceland based on her recommendation. Highly, highly recommend!!

    Kate2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely fantastic stay with Sigridur. The apartment was better than described and a very short walk from the center of town. The set up and the location are excellent. Sigridur was a wonderful host, checking in to make sure we were finding our way to the best sights and directing us to good restaurants. She also knew we were fellow dog owners so she brought her pups over for a visit too. We had an absolutely amazing stay and wouls stay again in a heartbeat. Can't recommend staying here highly enough!!

    Stuart2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed out stay at the apartment. It was super clean and stylish with a lovely view to the mountains. We had great weather and could sit in the nice garden. Sigridur is an awesome host. She provided us with all the informations we needed for trips in the area. THANKS!

    Rosario2016-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sigridur received us very heartily (2 sweet dogs too). She showed us the apartment which was very tidy and definitely spacious enough. She also had quite some information available in the apartment for sightseeing in the westfjords (books, map of isafjordur, boat schedules) and she tipped us off for going to visit vigur, which was indeed worth the trip. Always willing to help and showing interest, we had a very nice stay.

    Pieter2015-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very spacious and clean place to stay. Room was perfect. Host was great and very accommodating. Not a whole lot to do in this area (especially in bad weather) so we ended up leaving one day early. Wifi was very fast and location was close to where the restaurants are.

  • Sigga is a wonderful host .... She likes to receive people at her place, we saw that when we arrived at Sigga's guesthouse. We have even seen Northern lights !! She explained us what we could see all around Isafjordur, especially a seals spot at Hvitanes. Thanks to all of these things, we loved our stay in this town. Just two words : Great Sigga !

  • We were 5 people and the accomodation was comfortable for all of us. The house has got an equipped kitchen and also useful wash machine and dryer. The flat is warm and cozy and is situated not very far from downtown. We have to thank Sigga, the host, for the precious information that she gave us about Ísafjörður, its shops and some interesting place to reach.

    Riccardo2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, wow, wow- we absolutely LOVED our stay in Ísafjörður! Sigga gave great directions and details in advance so we could find the home and get in. She was there to greet us and show us around. Her home was BEYOND welcoming and warm and cozy and, after staying in hostels for several days, being able to do laundry was priceless! She even had some snacks and food essentials in the kitchen! We were in a great spot in town, nearly right by the city center and easily in walking distance to everything. Oh my gosh, and she had city maps and information on the city as well as AMAZING handmade wool products for sale in her front room. Beds were perfectly cozy and the duvets were warm! Sincerely, we couldn't have asked for more.

  • Gurry and Robert were great hosts. We didn't see them too much but when we arrived they made us feel very welcome. The room was clean, comfortable, and had great amenities. I loved the heated floor in the bathroom! The location was great. It was easy to walk to all the restaurants and shops in town. Totally recommended!

    Erin2016-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Gurry and Robert's home. They were very friendly and Robert answered all our questions as well as letting us know all the features of the town. The wifi was great and Robert was nice enough to help my friend having trouble with his Galaxy phone. The town is just a five minute walk away. The room was very clean and we definitely recommend them as a stop in Isafjordur, we couldn't ask for anything better.

    Stephen2015-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Gurry's place was perfect for our short stay in Isafjordur. It is located two blocks above the city only a few minutes from restaurants and cafes but still feels secluded. The rooms are clean and bright with a view to a garden. The bathroom is palacial, one of the largest and well accommodated I've seen in Iceland. A perfect experience.

    Frano2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Gurry and Robert greeted us on arrival and gave us a quick orientation to the guesthouse + Isafjordur. Super friendly and gave good suggestions for places to eat/things to do. Our room was clean, comfortable and well decorated, had a kettle/microwave/coffee machine. Great safe location in town, walkable distance to everything. One bathroom shared between 3 rooms, which was fine. Just anticipate having to share is all. Overall great experience, would definitely stay here again next time we visit.

    Iris2016-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience in Isafjordur! Gurry and her husband were very helpful with suggestions of things to do in town and around. Location is great to town–we walked every where and it was very easy.

  • This place was beautiful and restful. We enjoyed the porch and the garden in the cool evening sun. We felt more than comfortable and Gurry had thought of everything. Isafjordur was made even more beautiful by our restful space here.

  • We spent one night at Gurry's place. The house was really clean, the bathroom big and the room really cozy. The bed was really comfortable and it's exactly what you need after a day around the Westfjords! For the check-in we had no problem at all, Gurry was there waiting for us and gave us good tips about the town and the rest of our trip in the Westfjords. We definitely recommend a stay here!

Central but not in the sometimes noisy town center. Located in historical Tangagata, We offer our guests a cozy and relaxing atmosphere in a newly renovated small house. We have reviews on trip advisor
This is a cottage/studio apartment. The cottage is small with private bathroom(shower) and kitchen. It was renovated summer 2008. One large living area with 1 king size American bed. There is a sleeping loft upstairs where we have one double size mattress. (usually for young adults, children) sleeps 2 . There is no door between the two sleeping areas. Projector TV . Internet. The house was renovated 2008 on the inside. The outside and garden were finished the summer 2015. We now offer a private parking space and a private porch/ "garden" area.
It is a 3 minute walk to the town center where there is a hotel that offers a breakfast buffet. All your necessary services and shopping are within a 5 minute walk.
  • The host was truly nice and made his best to let us find the house and to make ourself comfortable. The furnitures are all brand new and the little entrance door is adorable !!

My place is close to Ísafjörður, the main town in West Fjords. You’ll love my place because of the nature in the area. It offers one bedroom with one full size bed making it good for couples. It provides all regular amenities, yet only with an outside shower sheltered by the house and trees.
The house is located at a short distance of approximately 0.5 km from highway 61 (Djúpvegur) at the inner end of Skutulsfjörður and about 3-4 km distance from the town of Ísafjörður, where all regular services can be found.
The house is located on secluded land yet also in a close proximity to a farming community. The benefits are a quiet situation, yet occasionally providing pleasant views of the life at the farms, including sheep and horses.
  • The summerhouse is very cosy and easy to reach. For us, the outdoorshower was a nice experience. Even in autumnlike weatherconditions the water was warm. It is such a cute idea, that the guests are allowed to use the fresh herbs and the salat from the garden.

  • I stayed here for two weeks in August. Ólöf´s cabin is comfortable and in a nice location, about a five-minute drive from downtown Isafjörður. The view of the fjord and mountains is wonderful. (And after I got used to the idea, the outside shower was fun!) Communication was easy.

  • This is a lovely little house, ideal for a couple. And the Western Fjords are breathtakingly beautiful.

    Dave2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at the little cabin for 7 days and it was very comfortable. very scenic view with a tiny river nearby as well as a kind of observation deck of sorts about 50 m down the street from which you can see Isafjordur and have a beautiful view of the sunsets and -rises. Olöf gave me many tips beforehand about where to go to get food and other places that may be of interest. She also kept in contact with me asking for tips and if everything was alright and offered me to stay with her in Reykjavik if I was too exhausted from the flight to drive the bit to the cabin! Absolutely loved it!

    Helena2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time in Ísafjarðar and Ólöf's house was perfect. It's the perfect spot for those willing to use it as a travel hub like we did, or just to take in the town and the views. We would love to come back and do it again.

A spacious townhouse with a big garden and a great, sheltered veranda. The house is very open and neat. The view from the house is unique. Two of the bedrooms have double beds. Two of bedrooms (upper floor) have childrens beds (age 4-16). Two extra matresses (for adults) are on the upper floor and can be placed in the childrens rooms. There is a diswasher in the kitchen. There is a washing machine/dryer in the garage. The garage is not for using except in the need to make some washing. There is a fire stove in the living room. A big veranda with a gas barbecue and furniture, very cozy. Beautiful mountain and ocean view. You can hear all sorts of wild bird singing in the evening and the nighttime. The house is very open and comfortable. It's 4 km walk or ride to Isafjordur town center.
  • Our stay at Oliver and Helga's place was very nice. Just as described. Although we did not get to meet Helga, she responded quickly to messages and provided tips and maps for the area. She even left some snacks and coffee. This place was fantastic! Best air bnb of the trip. Quiet, comfortable, great location, roomy, backyard area with outstanding views. No issues at all. Felt like staying at a friend's home. Within reasonable walking distance to town and a very short walk to grocery store. Really enjoyed the stay. I highly recommend this air bnb.

  • Very nice and comfortable house, with a beautiful view. Isafjordur is a really pretty town. Visitors should book their tours/activities in advance, because of thé cruising ships.

  • Helga was out of town during our visit so we did not meet. Her communication with us by text/email was excellent, so we had no problems with the rental details at all. Helga's house is wonderful. Her aesthetic is cool. She has the best equipped kitchen--you can tell that it is a real lived in home. Everything was clean and comfortable. When you walk out the front door there is a fabulous fjord right across the road--beautiful. Highly recommended!

  • Dagny's place was very comfortable and perfect for exploring Isafjordur! Everything we needed was there, including some lovely extras, like the bowl of fresh fruit, and the milk, eggs, and food in the kitchen. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops thanks to the perfect location, and Dagny had great recommendations for where to eat and what to see in town. She is a wonderful host!

    Patricia2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We would definitely stay here again. The place is as described and even had the makings for breakfast. We were running behind and after a long day of driving arrived after midnight and Dagny was there to great us

    Jim2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful one month stay at Dagny's apartment. The communication went very smooth and everything was perfectly prepared for our arrival. The apartment is spacious and has all the equipment to cook and dine like you would at home. During our stay we could count on Dagny's help if we had any questions. She and her family are so nice, we soon felt like a part of the family. I would definitely recommend this place if you're staying in the Westfjords!

    Sharon2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Dagny's couldn't have been better. The location is wonderful. Anything (supplies/food/gas) you may need during your stay is within walking distance. Simultaneously, you're surrounded by the overwhelming beauty of the West Fjords. The apartment is well equipped and comfy. What made our stay here really stand out was Dagny, herself. She provided great communication, invaluable tips, and was so warm and friendly that we felt instantly at home. We can't wait to make our way back.

    Christina2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Dangny's place was fantastic. It's a great place to stay if you want to have a home base to explore the West Fjords region. Dagny and her husband were kind enough to give us maps to use and some advice about places to check out while we stayed there.

    Jeremy and David2016-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Dagny and her husband Halldor were incredibly welcoming and gracious hosts! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Ísafjörður and would happily recommend this apartment to anyone taking the time to travel up to this stunning northern region of the world! You will find the apartment clean, very comfortable and with all the amenities you would need - a true home away from home situated in the heart of Ísafjörður. You can walk wherever you need in the downtown, enjoy beautiful views of the harbor and mountains right across the street, and if you need any recommendations for things to do/see in the region, I am sure that Dagny and Halldor will be happy to lend you some advice :-) Their enthusiasm for their home country and Ísafjörður was much appreciated by us and they made us feel very welcome and at home up North! Additionally, Dagny is a talented glass artist and you can enjoy her beautiful artwork during your stay in the apartment, as it is on display throughout and adds so much unique charm to the space. If you are looking for a lovely apartment with wonderful accessible hosts and a perfect safe location in Ísafjörður, this is definitely the place for you!

  • Location of this house is just perfect. It was a lovely 5-15 minute walk from literally everything in town. The host was kind and communicative. The setup was a little weird with the bathroom in a hallway that you have to leave the small apartment for, but other than that it was a wonderful stay.

Sigridur and her husband were lovely hosts, gave us good guidance on what to do in and around Isafjordur. Will look for this place when I go to Isafjordur again.

My place is in the middle of town central at Isafjordur. Beautiful mountain and sea views from windows and balcony. You’ll love my place because of location and comfort. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups.
  • We stayed in this 2nd floor flat as a family of six. Accessed either via outside steps that lead to a central 2nd floor patio area or via an inside staircase, flat is centrally located in the middle of tiny town so easy to walk everywhere after arrival. Building has multiple flats with stairs accessing some of them located under/near the double bedroom so you hear people going up and down in the night/morning. Wifi for us was reliable and fast. Quad bedroom is small with just enough room for the beds and closet storage unit which suited us fine b/c each child had their own bed. Double bedroom is larger with small table, 2 chairs, storage for linens/clothing. Mattress in double bedroom is fantastic. Black out blinds throughout help with the midnight sun issue in summer but bring sleeping shades -- there is significant leakage at the sides of the black out blinds; we had a difficult time with the light coming in. Bed linens are excellent and in abundance so we were able to make up one of the twin beds that had been left sheetless for some reason. Bathroom is large, has good lighting, ventilation fan, and reasonable shower although water pressure is only fair. Like most places in Iceland, kitchen stove is electric so plan cook time accordingly. Kitchen reasonably equipped. Sofa cushions in the black couches collapse in a funny way when you sit on them. So rather than sit on them, we used them to hold open suitcases. The quad bedroom w/ the 4 twin beds hasn’t space for open luggage so using the common area worked fine for us. Communication w/ host was timely, efficient. Overall a great stay. Highly recommend.

  • Baggo's place is very nice. Lots of space, a very well equipped kitchen, good wi-fi, view of the harbor and the mountains. Also there's a grocery store right across the street. We had a little trouble finding it. We loaded the directions in (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps which took us to the wrong place. If you are looking for it, it's the multi-story white building with red roof on the corner of Havnarstreati and Mjallargata.

    Amy2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Central location, spotless apartment, well equipped, great communication

    Tom2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Baggo's place! The location can't be beat - you can walk anywhere in Isafjordur - and there are several cute shops and good restaurants you'll want to walk to! The 3 of us fit nicely in the two bedrooms that were as described bed-wise. Surprisingly, we had a little trouble finding the apartment as we didn't see the street signs that we needed. Thankfully, we had the picture from the website and found it that way. Easy check-in/check-out.

It is a charming renovated apartment in a VERY small and cozy house in the heart of Ísafjörður. The apartment is best suitable for 2 people, but up to 4 can sleep. It is divided like this: Living room on the ground floor with a dining table and a sleeping couch (for 2 persons). Small kitchen for self catering and a very TINY bathroom with a shower. Upstairs is a romantic sleeping loft with two single beds. Just be careful in the stairs, it is rather steep :) The apartment has a private parking space. Less than five minutes walk to the main street where you can find bakery, groceries, restaurants and pubs. There is also about 5 minutes walk to the harbor and the swimming pool. Very charming and friendly neighborhood in the heart of Ísafjörður. Linen and towels for two persons are included. If you need extra items just let me know and I will arrange that. Its 15 Euros pr person. This house is a great choice for couples, small families or hikers going to Hornstrandir :)

The house itself is quaint and lovely with a very lived-in feel - a wonderfully stocked kitchen, a lot of sitting room, and lovely little bedrooms. The place is well-kept and relatively clean. • We were welcome in radrikur's home in isafjordur. It was hard to find as the airbnb listing did not include the house number, only the street. The key wasn't as described, but the neighbors helped us. Being fairly new to airbnb I hadn't asked the host for specific directions to the house, which I should have done.

  • The place is much bigger and nicer than it seems from the photos. It is in a quiet residential are but only a two minute walk to the main square. We loved the place and Erikur was alway quick to respond and very friendly. The home is decorated with a cool and quirky style that I really liked.

  • Gurry and Robert had a great place. We enjoyed our stay in Isafjordur. We (2 couples) stayed 2 nights. Disa, cousin of the owners, met us when we arrived on Saturday night and let us in. Robert connected us with a local travel agency (BOREA) to inquire about trips. The apartment was clean and good value. There is a washer / dryer unit that is combined.

  • Of all the airbnb places that we stayed in Iceland this was our favourite. 2 lovely bedrooms, a nice lounge area with TV. Would recommend highly. Communication was also first class & met us when we arrived.

  • Nice, quiet place. Clean and cozy for after a long day driving, hiking or adventuring. Second time staying in one of the gentlspace properties. Very happy with cleanliness and accuracy of description. Great place to call home for vacation.

  • Wonderful apartment in central Isafjordur. It's a cute and cozy apartment that is conveniently located (can even see the water from living room window). The hosts were friendly and provided helpful and thorough information before arrival. Róbert greeted us when we arrived and even offered us some good dining recommendations. Overall great place to stay!

    Jessica2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at this apartment was great! The location was perfect. The apartment was clean, beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything we needed. Dealing with Gurry was always easy!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Gurrý's apartment. Robert met us on arrival and was very helpful telling us about the apartment and town. The apartment was equipped with everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. Thank you!

  • Gurry's place was wonderful. Everything is clean and ready. The apartment as right in the middle of the town so you can walk to a lot of place.

  • My family and I were in Isafjordur for only one night and wished we could have stayed longer in this place! It's a 5 minute drive from the airport and just a 5-10 minute walk from all the restaurants and shops in town. It was the perfect place for us to come home to after a long hike--the living space and kitchen are big enough that we were able to make dinner and relax instead of going out. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful house in a quiet place with beautiful garden.
  • Do not stay here. The host was rude and did not present a clean or reasonable house. When asked to clean the house and provide CLEAN sheets he hung up the phone on us. Tried to barter for a cheaper stay but did not fall for that.

  • A spacious house, perfect for the eight of us. It would have been even better if there would have been bowls for everyone when we had breakfast and cooked dinner. But the host is very kind and helpful!

  • We had a superb time! The flat was neat and spacious! He provided us with wonderful day-trip tips and laundry services. The tv also provided us with a means to watch the NBA playoffs, which was a must for us!

  • Great spacious and beautifully decorated apartment right in the middle of town. Very communicative and helpful host. The kitchen would be great for those who want to cook. All in all, a great value.

  • Gunnar's home was a great home base for Isafjordur. It was centrally located, spacious, well-equipped and clean. He left us with fresh fruit and a map of the area. I'd highly recommend it to anyone staying in this Iceland town.

  • A gracious and communicative welcome and a wonderful stay. Our only disappointment was not being able to stay longer in such a beautiful apartment right in the center of town. We couldn't have been happier.

  • This two story apt is on the 3rd floor of a building that is right off the main square in town. It was a wonderful place to stay - beautiful wood floors, lots of natural light, clean and more spacious than many of the places we stayed in Iceland. The beds were quite comfortable, and the kitchen is quite modern with very nice appliances, countertops etc. The 2nd floor is a good place for kids to stay - a long room with wood floors and sloped ceilings ( and without much furniture in it so good place to play) with a bedroom off of that main room. The unit has one bathroom on the first floor with a nice shower. The unit is located on the main 'square' in town which is not a huge square. We heard a few groups out our open window in the evening but the square wasn't really noisy. I am not sure what it is like in summer when there are more tourists in town. The location is wonderful in that you can easily walk to everything in town. There were beautiful sunsets (at about 11 pm) just about every night. Gunnar was very accommodating and easy to work with. . You do have to walk up two flights of stairs to get to the 1st floor of the apt - no elevator. The parking spot was 20 feet from the apt door. We would definitely stay here again

    Karen2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • We can't comment on the accommodation itself because we didn't get to stay there. Our ranking relates to the fact that the owner cancelled our booking on us on the day of arrival, as we were travelling to his home. This was after we had booked several weeks in advance and paid for the night. The excuse given didn't make sense to us but whatever the reason for the cancellation, it was inexcusable.

Cosy 2 floor apartment in an house built in 1906. Big windows, light and bright. Fantastic mountain views to the east and south. Balcony for the afternoon tea in the sun. Located in the old part of town, 1 minute from the Silfurtorg square.
This is our beautiful primary home. This spring and summer, however, we're living in a nearby old house that we are in the process of fixing up. In the meantime we thought we'd let other people enjoy the apartment. The apartment accommodates 5 guests.
Our apartment is right down town, in the old part of town, 2 minute walk from the main square. It's in a big old house built in 1906. In the basement there is a bakery and it's been there continuously since the house was built. Next door there is a barber shop.
  • Our three days in the Apartment of Haukur were lovely. Me, my wife and our sons felt Like being at Home. On the way to Isafjördur we Had a visit at the Dynjandi waterfalls which was one of The biggest Highlights on our Trip. As we Had a Problem with the door the neighbours and the Host helped us immediately. Isafjördur is a Village with everything you need at the end of The world which is absolutely crazy. It was a good decision to visit the westfjords and Haukurs Apartment.

    Bastian2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay in Isafjordur. Haukur was an excellent host, always ready to answer questions about the area, and the apartment was exactly what we were looking for as a group of 3 traveling to the westfjords. The location is ideal, located in the center of the historic part of town, a close walk to most everything. The apartment itself we were very impressed with. It felt new, clean, and uncluttered while also having character. Added bonus was the hammock and box of instruments. Would definitely stay again if I ever make it back to the area.

    Dylan2015-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful apartment with great location. Quick answers from the host before our visit and they also left us a number to call if we had any questions during our stay.

  • Wonderful location for cross country skiing and for the Fossavatnsgangen. Easy walking distance to registration sports hall and culture center for worldloppet reception.

  • Charming, clean, great location, great host. Couldn't have asked for more. Thanks!

    Davy2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment provided us with a great base for exploring in the Westfjords. The kitchen was sufficiently stocked that we were able to cook meals. When we were exploring in town it was easy to park at the apartment and walk anywhere we wanted to go. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

    Megan2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Haukur was a great host. He was extremely responsive to questions and went out of his way to help us with information about skiing in and around Isafjordur. The apartment is very comfortable and is well-described in the listing. The location in downtown Isafjordur is very convenient and walkable to everything you need.

  • This funky, homely, comfortable two level apartment with fantastic views, in the center of Isafjordur, was great. You have everything you need here for a comfy stay. While the kitchen area and bench space is small, it is sufficient. The shower was fantastic - loved it. The beds are comfortable. We had a comfy stay at Isafjordur downtown.

  • Everything with this stay was great. The one-way streets made it a little difficult to get to, but once we arrived, we figured out the street layout and it wasn't an issue after that. The apartment was clean, well-furnished and really conveniently located just a couple blocks away from the water and the main part of town. Magni was great with communicating with us to make sure that everything was set for our stay. Have no complaints at all and would definitely recommend staying here to anyone.

  • The apartment was lovely, just like the pictures. Nice living room to relax, but we couldn't get the TV to work. Too minor a problem to call the host. Well equipped, attractive kitchen. Comfortable bed, night tables and lamps on both sides, lots of storage. The bathroom would benefit from better lighting, some shelves near the sink, and a shower curtain that goes all around the tub--but everything worked well. Excellent wifi connection. Free parking behind the building. Very convenient location for restaurants and to get in/out of town. We were happy to come home to this apartment for 3 evenings.

  • Comfortable, nicely appointed and clean accomodations equipped with everything you need to relax after a day of sightseeing. Well equipped kitchen for cooking , comfortable living room for lounging, fast wifi, parking, etc. Central location --walking distance to restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores. Magni was super responsive to our questions and gave us so many tips for activities and hikes in the area. We felt very at home here and hope to come back one day.

    Zia2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great central location walking distance to restaurants, there is a school and sport field right outside the front door of the building. Kids were out playing at 8am so if you're looking to sleep in during the week days this might not be ideal for you. Cable tv didn't work despite having reset the modem as the information papers instructed us, wifi worked great though. Bathroom towels were a bit musty/mildew smelling (they were clean just a little musty is all). Stove had a few dried up noodles on it from previous occupants, not a big deal since we were there for just one night but general detail to cleaning was hit or miss. Had all the necessities we needed and was fine for our one night stay. Host was easy to reach via phone...we had to call for lockbox code since it wasn't sent to us prior to arrival but didn't have to wait long to get in. Overall a decent stay and host was nice.

    Carolyn2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Magni's apartment is modern and in a central position in isafjordur. There is a school in front, so during the day you listen children's voices, but during night is calm. We were three guys and I slept on sofa and was also comfortable. A great point was Netflix on tv .... evening in isafjordur could be really boaring.

  • A cosy old house in Isafjordur. It's well located in the old part of town. We really enjoyed our stay at the house during Easter and the music festival "Aldrei fór ég suður". We were three couples, two individuals and a 3 year old boy (nine in total). We all got good beds (one room had top bunk bed, kid size) and travel cot for our three year old. There was a super friendly cat living in the house which kept us company and didn't bother us at all. The host was very responsive and friendly. It was her first time hosting so she was still learning the ropes.

    Friðbjörn2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Even though the house was not very clean, we enjoyed the very welcoming atmosphere (free home made beer...) as well as the house itself (super pretty house, and warm jacuzzi). On top of that, the accommodation was very well situated.

  • Fantastic, beautiful place to stay. The hosts are kind, easy to communicate with, super helpful with knowing the area. Stéphanie even baked us Icelandic pastries, which were delicious. The rooms and kitchen were clean and very comfortable. The house is situated close to some very close hikes and the water. We saw whales in the water only a short drive from the house.

  • We had a very pleasant stay here! Check in was a breeze. Rodolphe and his kids greeted us warmly, we felt so welcomed. Our bedroom was fantastic, new bedsheets with very nice smell, we instantly felt at home. Rodolphe is a great host too. He gave us tips and guide and attractions to visit in Westfjords. His son & daughter are both very friendly we played card one of the nights we stayed. Very clean, big bathroom and overall very good place to stay. Recommended!

    Dayana2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • I was traveling with my sisters and cousin, and we had a lovely stay at Rodolphe's! We arrived very late, but our hosts were gracious enough to wait up, and made sure we were comfortable and familiarized with the house. Rodolphe had endless suggestions of activities for us, and his wife made delicious Icelandic pastries and jams (we even picked wild blueberries to go into the next batch)! (The only complaint I have is that the house was very damp and humid, so our clothes had a hard time drying.) The best part about this house was the location. The Westfjords are absolutely gorgeous. The community of Sudavik is very small, but so inclusive and friendly. We just happened to come the weekend of a big hiking festival, and we also enjoyed a neighborhood breakfast and bonfire. Isafjordur is great to go into for food, but Sudavik has much more charm - I'm glad we landed here!

    Maggie2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The room was splendid and the town was a testament to the amazing views of the Westfjords. We were late arrival check-in guests and the hosts took the time to put out a snack for us when we got in and they made it very easy for us to get to our room and go to bed. Would absolutely recommend this room to anyone because the hosts are very hospitable and the location is amazing.

    John2017-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Rodolphe and family made us feel like one of their own. They had a convenient lock box ready for us. Additionally, they also made treats for us as well. They lived above the property and were able to not just answer our questions about the area, but also provide us usage of their own property such as their kayak. We only stayed there one evening, but we left with so much more knowledge of the area than we would have otherwise. The space was very comfortable as well. It was an entire place complete with kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms which was very spacious compared to our other rentals. Location was convenient and pretty close to Ísafjörður. The Arctic Fox Center is in town as well. Overall, great place and great hosts. Would highly recommend this place for a more family-oriented feel.

We were very comfortable - the place is clean, spacious, and cozy, and the view is really beautiful with the harbor to one side and mountains on the other. Stéphanie's directions made it a breeze to find and it's very well located for travel around the west fjords or out of Isafjordur. Highly recommend!

  • Omar's home was a very comfortable stay from beds to well equipped kitchen and nice outdoor deck. The scenery from the house is beautiful in every direction. There is a trail head just a few houses away and we were able to get a good view of the Northern lights. Our family of four, with 2 adult children had plenty of space even with 1 bathroom. The bathroom is large with plenty of cabinet storage for everyone's toiletries. It was nice to be in a home after several nights in hotels. I would highly recommend and hope to visit again some day!

The exhibition demonstrates the biology and ecology of the arctic fox, the only native land mammal in Iceland, the hunting history and the relationship between foxes and men throughout the centuries. The arctic fox centre is serving as a cultural house with a nice little café, souvenir shop, multi-use loft and the Arctic Fox exhibition. You can have some coffee and homemade cakes or soup, watch a nature film about Iceland (about 50min long), go online (if you bring a computer), write postcards to friends and family, relax on our patio or look at some local handcraft. "The Summer village": The "Old village" Súðavík, hit by an avalanche 1995 - memorial, cross and signs that explain the damage of the avalanche and how the village was rebuilt in the present location in 1996. Now serves as "the summer village" and houses are rented out during the summer. Súðavík camping is located here as well as the diner "Amma Habby". A short walk to Raggagardur which is a family playground, built up by volunteers and in the memory of Raggi, a local young man who passed away in a car accident. The church: The church in Súðavík was pre-built in Norway and send to Hesteyri, in the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, as a gift from Norwegian Whalers (Brödrene Bull from Tonsberg in Norway) who had a whale station in Hesteyri. The first formal ceremony took place in the church in Hesteyri on September 3rd 1899. Hesteyri was abandoned by all the inhabitants during 1952 and the church became out of order. It was thus moved to Súðavik in the 1960´s and first served there in the year 1963. For some reasons the people from Hesteyri were never asked for a permission to move the church and therefore it has been referred to as „missing". The people in Súðavík, however, are happy with the church and it serves the habitants well. After all, the people did not steal the church, it was simply the church authorities who made the decision of moving it to a place where there was a need for it. The village of Súðavík is connected to the Norwegian whaling history in the way that the village housed the first Norwegian Whaling station in the Westfjords. At the church you see a memorial of lost sailors and the local graveyard. Short hiking tours and mountain tops •Valagil: This enjoyable walk is a tour of Seljalandsdalur valley, just above the inner end of Álftafjörður fjord. One particularly interesting spot is the spectacular Valagil. •Kofri: The local mountain of the village Súðavík. A beautiful mountain with magnificent powers. •Sauratindar: This rather demanding route, beginning at Súðavík village , goes up grassy slopes to the south of Traðargil gorge. Sometimes it helps to follow the narrow sheep trails. The large glacial cirque above the gorge shows interesting rock features, and no one will regret having reached the top of the mountain with its stupendous view. •Langeyri is a great place for birdwatching. There are breeding arctic terns, loons, whooper swans and eiders. Please watch from a distance and try not to disturb the birds.
  • This is a wonderful, cute house that is much bigger than it seems. The scenery outside the windows is incredible. I am so happy to have stayed here and look forward to my next trip.

  • A nice old house, lovingly furnished and ideal located to explore the area. What a great place! We'd love to come back some time to what has become one of our favourite places in Iceland. And Ragnheiður was also very helpful in the run up to our stay giving some tips and advice on the Blueberry festival that was in town at the time.

  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Blómsturvellir. The home was spacious and inviting, perfect for this family of four. We explored the areas around Ísafjörður and Súðavík during our stay, and Blómsturvellir is a perfect location for that. We all slept well in the comfortable beds after long days of exploring. Hope to stay again some day, thanks Baldur & Ragnheiður!

  • We enjoyed our stay here and the hosts have done a wonderful job at having a home away from home.

  • This place is so stunning. A lovely quiet location right on the Fjord. We enjoyed watching the marine life in front of us. Not far to drive to the next (bigger) town, would not even think twice about coming back for another stay.

  • Maison très bien située pour une étape dans les fjords de l'ouest, avec une magnifique vue. Même si la déco est un peu hors d'âge, tout le confort est là.

The house is a small, welcoming and cozy cottage with sun deck and a grate view. It nests in a spacious garden near the sea and the harbor of the small fishing village of Bolungarvík witch is surrounded by mountains on three sides. The house is on 2 floors, on the ground floor there is a open kitchen, living room with a sofa bed and a bathroom with a shower. The second floor is a sleeping loft with 1 double bed, but mattresses for children and a travel crib is available op on request.
This restored cottage is over 100 years old and it is a classic Icelandic fisherman's house from the 1900's. The cottage has both an ocean view and a mountain view. From the sleeping loft you can see over to Hornstrandir nature reserve and from the deck you have a great view of the mountains surrounding the village. In the kitchen there is a stove, oven, fridge, microwave and a coffee machine. The sofa in the living room is a sofa bed for 2 persons and the double bed in the sleeping loft is 200 x 160 cm. The house is suitable for up to 4 adults and 2 children. The staircase to the sleeping loft is rather steep but only with few steps.
Bolungarvík is a small village so everything is within a walking distance. There are 2 grocery stores in the village, a bank and a post office. One of the grocery store is very small and over 100 years old called Bjarnabúð (Bjarni's store). There you can buy little bit of everything, like food, clothes, books, toys, Icelandic lopi, yarn and more. There is a restaurant and a pub / coffee house in Bolungarvík and for those who like to get pampered there is both hair and beauty saloon in the village and the local swimming pool has a sauna and hot tubs where you can enjoy the nice mountain view. In the nature museum in Bolungarvík you can see a polar bear and just out side of the village there is the Ósvör Maritime Museum. It contains double 19th century fishing base, a salt hut, a fish drying area and a drying hut. The curator greets visitors wearing a skin suit that is similar to the one Icelandic fishermen wore in that era. In the summer you can drive up to the top of the mountain Bolafjall, witch has a breath taking view over the fjords, and to Skálavík which is a small remote bay with magnificent black sand beach and powerful waves. In winter you can go skiing in Ísafjörður (15 km) or if you like mountain skiing the Westfjords is THE place to be. You will enjoy your stay in Bolungarvík if you like nature, peace and quiet, hiking and trekking, fishing, snow, arctic surfing and the northern lights.
  • My favorite in the two weeks of my iceland trip. Beautiful house, super furnished. View of the sea and the mountains. Very clean and comfortable. We will be back. Simon

  • Lovely cottage. It had everything we needed, and was very cozy and comfortable. The location was very nice and convenient for an after dinner stroll along the coast.

  • The Little Cottage is the perfect place if you wanna spend some time in the quietness and beauty of the west fjords in Iceland! The place itself is adorable and cosy, it's like having a mini yet fully equipped house for yourself. You almost feel at the edge of the world. Communication with Íris was easy. Would definitely recommend this place ;)

  • The host was unreachable for over thirty minutes and left us no note or email on how to get into the house with keycode. We had to find a local in the only store open in town and seek their phone for making calls and email. Host eventually responded. The cottage is charming and the kitchen was stocked, but the couch was unusable to sleep (i specifically asked if it would be suitable for a senior citizen). The bathroom was leaky too. I have stayed in five other houses on airbnb in iceland during my trip and this is by far the most expensive, yet had issues. Will not recommend fir tgus pruce (210$ per night)

  • The cottage was absolutely adorable and cozy with a magnificent view. It was perfect for the 4 of us.

  • The cottage is adorable: wood everywhere, nice furniture, tiny and romantic spaces extremely well organized... Furthermore the check-in was very easy and all the house was perfectly clean. We are absolutely satisfied by Iris's place and we suggest it to everyone that really wants to live an authentic icelandic experience...

    Bolungarvik, Iceland

Amid the mountains of the wild West Fjords lies Bolungarvík, a small fishing village with about 1000 inhabitants. The village is a good base for trips around north of West Fjords. Einarshúsið is a cozy little hotel located by the fishing harbour, with is lively at daybreak when the boats are leaving to sea and in the afternoon when they return with their catch of fish.
Einarshúsið hotel is in a restored wooden building over a hundred years old. When previous owners bought the house in 2004 it was in poor state. They started renovating and bringing the house to its earlier status as one of the most beautiful houses in Bolungarvík. The current owners bought the house in April 2016. Our aim is to provide the best service possible and authentic Icelandic hospitality. In the restaurant/lounge area there are displays about the history of the house its owners.
A 2-minute walk from the guesthouse you will find an indoor swimming pool with outdoor hot tubs and waterslide. This is one of the best swimming pools in West Fjords. A grocery store around the corner. Mountains and valleys around Bolungarvík offer good hiking possibilities for everybody.
  • It is a place where you sleep under the restaurant in pub part. The house is old with authentic atmosphere but also a bit noisy because of wooden floors. We still spent a good night there.

  • Fantastically charming, old-school inn right on the harbor. Arrived after a long drive and settled into the cozy dining room for cake and coffee, listening to the happy chatter of other guests. Got treated to a lovely musical performance by the owner and his daughter, and slept great in the tidy little room upstairs. An experience straight out of an old travel novel.

  • The place has a soul and is full of history, something that cannot be said about other accomodations we came across during our stay in Iceland. Also, the owners and the service are really warm and friendly, it is great to chat with them to learn more about the local culture; there was also some delightful singing! The food tasted great. The only small downside we noticed was the shared bathrooms, which might use some refurbishing - but there again, as said earlier, it goes with the fact that this a historic building! I'd say it is a must if you plan to stay in Bolungarvik!

  • We had a great stay at Einarshúsið. Friendly people, nice rooms, good food. If you are looking for an authentic Icelandic lodging experience (short walk to a working fishing harbor), this is the place to be.

  • We had a great stay at Einarshusid. The room in the basement is small and cozy. It is like staying in a cabin in a ship! Even though the shower is shared, it is very well equipped and confortable. The rest of the guesthouse is very nicely decorated and the food is very good.

  • Best Airbnb ever! Exceptionally friendly staff made us feel right at home-- we ate, drank, and sang together. Our stay here was definitely one of the highlights of our trip through the westfjords. The hotel is a well-decorated and beautiful historical building. Yes, the town is a bit sleepy, but staying here is well worth the trip! I wish we could have stayed longer.

    Sara2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Historical hotel in an old house. Very interesting decorated with some historical artifacts. On the ground floor located restaurant. Rooms located on the fist floor and in the bottom. We stayed in a double room in a bottom. It's comfortable. The only thing is that its very noisy when anybody steps on the ground floor- but I think it won't be a problem on in the rooms in the first (URL HIDDEN) is quite small.
