I am an artist/potter/metalworker/teacher currently teaching my last full time year! I am anticipating with great excitement and pleasure becoming a full time studio artist upon becoming a part time teacher in the 2015/16 school year. I am a "maker" (pottery, jewelry, soft sculpture, home furnishings) and have in the last several years renovated a house enlarging the size of the objects I "make" by quite a bit. I married a Cajun at seventeen and have great kids and exquisite grandchildren. I love New Orleans; her emergence out of the waters of Katrina is for me a tantalizing enigma. She is beautiful! Her ability to absorb and at the same time resist is both curious and spectacular; shaping a physical and cultural environment into one of gracious strength. She organically expands and contracts with the rhythms of the land and climate under the influence of a people creating an artistry of sight, sound and taste!; a blending of all that she has been and will be in the here and now! New Orleans is the city where I want to live out the rest of my life. I have traveled a bit: Russia, Japan, India, Nepal, UK, Greece, France, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada and much of the USA. The places I retreated to at the end of the day had as much of an effect on me in my travels as did the places, cultures, sights and peoples. I decided to become an Airbnb host when the house I renovated as a place " to retire" to presented me with the opportunity to do so! It pleases me greatly to provide and share a lovely, secure, comfortable and welcoming retreat for people wanting to experience the celebratory nature of New Orleans!! I love the responsiveness and forgiveness of wet clay! I love the malleability of metal!; especially copper. I love to cook and I love to eat!; and sharing both. I love opera and the ballet! I love coffee and sleeping in! I love linen! and the color white! I love autumn and dusk! I love live oaks and crape myrtles. I love the shady coolness of vegetation on a hot, humid day. I love saving bits of New Orleans in renovation of abandon houses! I love mixing old and new! I love thrift/junk shops and high end boutiques! I anticipate loving the interaction I will have directly and indirectly with my Airbnb guests! I am in my later years and relishing the realization of life long dreams! It is never too late!!!!!!! Especially in New Orleans!!!!!!
