This house is perfect for people who enjoy relaxing in the hammock, listening to birds, feeling the sea breeze, and reading a good book :) If you would prefer blaring TVs, and convenience to the airport, this is not the place you will enjoy. I'm very easy-going and happy to share many fun activities:
**Bicycling -- I have a Tandem you can use!
**Kayaks & Canoeing -- Right here from the house, with a boat launch 2 houses away!
**I'm a Boat Captain -- For a small fee, I offer sunset sailboat rides and Remote Island exploring!
**Beautiful Running Trail -- Completely safe, high-end neighborhood.
The house has two guest rooms, sharing 1 very nice upstairs bathroom. You're more than welcomed to use the kitchen. I love having great conversation while making dinner or breakfast with new friends from around the world. There are many fun activities, and great eats in Savannah, and close to Mi Casa! I love being a host and sharing tips and ideas with my guests! I love to keep this house full of laughter and good vibes, this house is very peaceful and magical. I'm a traveler myself, and I love the opportunity to show this amazing city to other travelers enjoying the journey of life.
Interesting Facts of this House:
This is a beautiful tree house built in 1932, making it one of the oldest houses on Whitemarsh Island. This house has been recently remodeled to show off its original all-wood charm and keep you feeling like you are high up in the island forest.
**Next door to an Native American Mound
**Also next door to a civil war battery (there's a mote besides the driveway remaining)
You really need a car or motorcycle to stay here.
99% of my guests are amazing people! ...I mean really awesome people! However, there is that 1%.
Max. 2 people per room.
Please no one under 18.
(kids are cute and I like them, but this is not a good place for the little ones. I do have full houses for almost the same price.)
No smoking. it's 2014. Be kind to your body. :)
No pets. ( I love dogs, but I keep the house really clean for people who have allergies).
Be respectful of the age of the house and the tranquillity here.
Thanks for reading. you probably already knew all of this. and therefore is it intended for someone else. Please enjoy your day, you are a good person. :)
Jonathan's house is in a quiet, verdant neighborhood almost exactly between Tybee Island and Savannah. It was convenient to everything we wanted to do during our spring break trip. The room was lovely and clean, and as pictured. Jonathan himself was communicative and very friendly. He made an effort to provide a variety of delicious options for a self serve breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay.
Savannah and Jonathan were the absolute highlight of our trip. Not only is the house amazing and the location magical, but Jonathan hosted us as family. As soon as we arrived he was on the porch and went way beyond his duty to give us the best experience we could have. He gave us tips and helped us with everything since we arrived. He is what Air BnB is all about and he is helping Savannah become a better place. Thank you for everything.
Loved our stay at Jonathan's - he was very welcoming and entertaining. Great place, great location and a brilliant start to our road trip.
We had a great time - the dogwood room was beautiful as was the entire property. Jonathon was awesome- I highly recommend staying with him.
My wife and I were seriously disappointed, and angered, by the misrepresentations in the website’s materials. The house is in a rather junky, rundown neighborhood. We had called Jonathon before arriving and he told us he was out on his motorcycle and gave us the entry code. Upon entering, we were struck by an unusual odor that pretty much permeated the house. (My wife later bought a scented candle for our room…)
We went up to our room, and it was not like the pictures show. There was no patio with swinging hammock outside our room. You have to go downstairs, out and around to the other side of the house, and up some exterior stairs if you want to use the patio/deck. Outside the windows, you see the neighbors’ junk, smashed windows, dilapidated cars, discarded hot tub, etc.
Dogwood Room is anything but “professionally decorated.” It really isn’t decorated at all. And the bed is not “queen size.” In fact, it doesn’t even have a base frame; it is propped up on logs, each standing on end with the box spring set on top!! (This gives you a sense of the standards that were put into this B&B.) Nor is the room “open” and “airy”. The windows are painted shut, it is rather small, and it gets stuffy. And the furnishings may have been picked up as “free” from some curb.
The interior is really cramped. There is no space to sit and relax inside; the living room is consumed by the table and motorcycles. The website photos are old and must have been staged, meaning that everything was cleaned up and made to look its best for the photos, but it is no longer its best.
Our room had two bath towels and two washcloths, and these were the only ones we would get. We used them repeatedly during our three-night stay. There was nowhere to hang them to dry, so we sort of made a hanging spot with hangers from the closet.
The bathroom, which was used by all guests, could not be locked. And when you ran out of toilet paper, you were truly out; no extra TP had been placed in the bathroom.
The positives: It was fairly clean and is located about halfway between Tybee Island and Savannah.
About the “host”:
We did not meet Jonathon until about 24 hours after our arrival. We became convinced that he was avoiding us. There were no welcome brochures, instructions, greetings or anything else to guide us during our stay. There is no breakfast, even though the website advertises a breakfast. We felt very uncomfortable and spent little time there.
During our stay, Jonathon spoke with us only twice. He was friendly, but other than asking us if we slept well, he never asked us anything else about our stay or if we needed anything. Nor did he volunteer any information that might help us in our stay. He seemed oblivious to his guests’ needs.
We had a great stay in Savannah. The neighborhood and house were extremely charming and peaceful. It was a little bit chilly during our stay so we weren't able to enjoy all of the amenities that Jonathan had to offer, we would have loved to go kayaking, biking or just lay in the hammock.
Jonathan was an amazing host and is extremely entertaining to say the least. If you need recommendations on anything to do or eat in Savannah he is at your disposal day or night. Even if you have a full agenda while you are there take a few minutes to chat with him and I guarantee you'll leave laughing.
Jonathan was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. We had last minute plans fall through and needed an extra night and it wasn't an issue. The house is gorgeous in a cute neighborhood by the water. Couldn't be happier with our time in Savannah.
