  • We really loved staying in Kims house - all our 3 kids loved it too! Kadek, Aby and Made are all wonderful, and it was so welcoming having Dewa meet us at the airport after a very long day (6 hours in brissy airport before our flight as there were delays due to the volcano eruption). The dogs were lovely too - we loved Jonnys gentle presence, and the fact he has the same name as our 2.5 year old was a sweet little piece of serendipity! ;)

Such a beautiful and relaxing place to be based, and the food as well as the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff was impecable. Thanks so much for sharing your home.

  • What a find! Last minute booking for a one night getaway with 3 young kids. We were all in heaven. A beautiful dog who slept in the kids room, and a divine cat who slept on my bed. A wonderfully rustic villa that in my view is the epitome of a genuine Bali getaway experience. My only regret - that we didn't have longer to enjoy it. We were whisked away early the next morning for a tour. No doubt we will be back again to stay for longer, as there is certainly so much more to enjoy and explore around the villa, let alone just enjoying the peace and tranquility that a villa nestled amongst the rice paddies can deliver. Thumbs up!

  • My mother, partner and I stayed at Villa Uma Santi Dec 2013-Jan 2014. We really tried to keep our spirits up - but this place seriously tried our patience.

    1) The road up to the house is not drivable during the rainy season. The reality of the location really does need to be made clear in the advert. It is a pretty filthy walk up to the house during the rainy season. Taxis cannot get down to the property due to the road conditions and you will need to bring flash lights and be able to climb on garden walls to reach the property when it rains.

    2) There isn't enough furniture. One couch is in the living area which might be fine for a couple who has come to Ubud to watch the TV, but groups of more than two have no where to sit another than around the kitchen table. Ironically this place has great views - but there is no furniture to sit on other than in bed to enjoy the views.

    3) AND the TV does not work so actually you have to sit on the couch looking at a broken TV. Every single day there was a different problem with it - sometimes fixable, sometimes not.

    4) We are an animal lovers, but Jonny the dog is a total nuisance. I don't know of many people who want to be woken up at 6am while on their holidays by a dog throwing itself against the doors to get attention.

    5) The second bedroom is infested with flying ants.

My mother and I lived in Indonesia for a number of years and neither of us are not naive about how difficult it is to run a house in Indonesia. We were not expecting perfection, but repeated requests were necessary for things to be cleaner, which with enough asking were sort-of answered.

For the price charged for this rental, the reality is that the property is not luxury and a pretty far cry from the description on air b&b.

A more accurate online listing of what is on offer really is needed so that guests are the right match for the type of accommodation provided.

Amazingly, the owners do not respond to concerns raised by email - and an email address is the only contact information provided when you book Villa Uma Santi through airbnb.

There is so much to choose from in Ubud that really is lovely - we would advise to keep looking!

  • Kim's Rustic Peace is unique. The staff speaks English, which is a plus. They even cook breakfast for the gang and offered to take my friend's mother around to spa, massage and yoga. Will recommend this place to others.

  • I had a great time at Kims's beautiful Villa together with my husband and our two children. The atmosphere is very beautiful with the ricefields just beneath the house. The house is very Special with ist open space. There are 2 cats and a dog which belong to the house, it was very familiar.

The staff is very friendly. Abi climed up the Palm tree to get us fresh coconut for breakfast. Dewa, the driver, is very competent, he took us accross the whole Island to the North.

Thank you for thosw wonderful days in Ubud!

  • It was a pleasant and great experience to stay at villa uma santi. We fell in love with the simplicity of the place. Yes it is a little drive to center ubud but I think that's the beauty of it if you want to stay out of the crowds.a nice change from hectic kuta. There were 3 cats, ginger, scratchy and the quiet one. If you don't like cats then this place isn't for you. They will bug you if you have food and go thru your food. We ended up hiding it in our room and closed the door at night, no big deal. As dog lovers, we immediately fell in love with their black Bali dog, Joni. It took awhile to gain his trust and from there on, he loved us and was happy when we were home. Even at one point he bang on my door in the middle of my last night there, begging for a belly rub. I ended up sleeping outside with him. The staffs, esp Abi & Mbo Ayu, were awesome. Love them. It was a unique & humbling experience staying there. I will definitely pay a visit again there when I am back in Ubud. Thanks kim for your wonderful place!

  • Rustic Peace was like a slice of heaven. Besides the beautiful, clean, secluded, cozy villa, the staff is amazing. I stayed there with my 2 kid. Kadek and the staff welcomed us into their arms and made us feel so welcomed and loved! Some mornings, the grounds keeper climbed the tree and served us fresh coconuts. It was fun having Joanie (their precious dog) two cats, and chickens in the villa, they all added to our wonderful stay. If I ever return to Bali, I would definitely return to Rustic Peace.

  • We stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed the experience. The house has a great feel to it and is surrounded on all sides by beautiful rice paddies and coconut palms. You fall to sleep with the sound of crickets and frogs and wake up to the sound of birds.

If you want to experience what it would really be like to live in Bali, then this place is perfect. Its just a five minute drive to some good restaurants and about 10 minutes drive from the heart of Ubud village.

The house is about 10 minutes walk from a main road, so it would be a good idea to have your own transport. We hired a little jeep which was perfect.
