Unit is located in the Outer Richmond District of San Francisco. Golden Gate Park is one block away and features abundant walking and hiking paths, bicycling, boating, museums, flower gardens, etc. The Richmond is a relatively quiet and clean residential district away from the hustle and bustle of other parts of the city. Geary Street is a major SF thoroughfare 3 blocks away, and hosts an abundance of shops, restaurants, cafes, and night spots. It's also easy to get to Ocean Beach, the Presidio, and other museums from this location.
Public transportation via the MUNI bus is readily available. Weekday mornings and afternoons, downtown is approximately 30 minutes away by express bus, and other times of the day or week, limited or regular service buses will take you there or elsewhere in just a little more time.
In short, this is a warm, elegant, cozy, and clean place in a quiet neighborhood, and it serves as a perfect launchpad for adventures in the city and beyond.
The whole apartment, with two bedrooms, bathroom, living room, dining room, and kitchen. 1-car coded-entry garage, with washer/dryer, laundry detergent, etc. Large flat-screen TV in the living room with Roku internet TV (Netflix, etc.), DVD player (non Blu-ray) and a dozen or so movies. Small flat-screen TV in the master bedroom with Apple TV (Netflix, etc.)
Interaction with Guests
I only rent my place out when I'm traveling, so I'll never be sharing the place with guests. I have no aversion to meeting with or interacting with guests (it's nice to meet new people), but typically my travels don't overlap with those of my guests so usually guests just get codes and instructions for the various entry systems.
I love my neighborhood's location most of all. Bounded by Golden Gate Park, the Pacific Ocean, the Presidio, and by Highway 1, it's nicely proportioned, close to many attactions, and centrally-located. It's also safe, quiet ((email hidden) is the city), and people are friendly.
San Francisco is served by an elaborate network of busses and street-cars that will take you most places that you want to go. In particular, Geary Street, which is a major artery linking the western residential neighborhoods to downtown on the east side of the city, is just 3 blocks from my house. From there, it's easy to get downtown on any of the 38 busses (especially, the 38L).
Other Things to Note
Golden Gate park closes a substantial portion of John F. Kennedy Drive (one of its 2 major thoroughfares) to car traffic in the middle of the day on Saturday and Sunday. It's a safe and pleasant setting for walking, running, bicycling, etc., especially with children.
You are guests and I expect you to act like it. I will treat you with respect, and I expect that you will treat me, my house, and my neighbors with respect. While some wear-and-tear is normal, I expect no actual damage to occur to my property. No valuables will be visible/accessible in the unit, but nevertheless my belongings (e.g., clothing) will be present. I expect guests to respect my privacy with these items. While casual dinner parties with up to 8 people are OK, guests are not to have parties/events with loud music and more than 8 people. Guests are not permitted on the roof under any circumstances. Guests are to be polite, courteous, and respectful of my neighbors.
One other things. Garbage day is Tuesday morning. For guests staying overnight on any Monday, you are expected to move the black garbage bin and blue recycling bin through the service entrance and out onto the street on Monday night, then return these bins to the back of the building sometime on Tuesday.
David have a really great flat, very suitable for comfort living even for long time and with child. Big fridge, oven, dishwasher - all staff what you need. Great location - two block from nice grocery store and bus stations, near park. For us was very important to have garage (we were with car).
David response very quickly and constructive - it was a pleasure to communicate with them. Absolutely recommended!
We had a great stay in San Francisco. Davids apartement is close to the Golden Gate Park and a perfect starting point for a trip to the Golden Gate Bridge. For a complete sightseeing trip through the city it is advisible to rent a car. Davids home is pretty clean and very cozy - a great place to spend some nights. Even before and during the organisation of our trip to SF David was very helpfull and friendly. I could not recommend it enough!
About the Host, David
Originally from Michgan, after doing a Ph.D. in astrophysics I moved to San Francisco where I am now a data scientist. I enjoy travelling, running, and books. And, I like just a little refinement in my life. So, I try to keep my place neat, clean, organized, and decorated with as much taste as I can muster. I love San Francisco, and I hope you enjoy it, too!
There are many sushi places around the City and on Geary. On this stretch of road, Kabuto is one of the best.
Peet's is a chain of premium coffee shops. This one is a real hub of activity on Geary St.
Royal Ground is an inexpensive coffee spot with decent food, free WiFi, cozy seating, and a sunny location.
If you there's something you've forgotten and you need (e.g., swim trunks, sport coat, headphones, cell phone charger), Ross will have it, and cheap.
There's something comforting about knowing where the local Starbucks can be found.
Reliable grocery store a short walk from 15th Ave.
Gordo's is a small chain of taquerias around the Bay Area. Inexpensive and low ceremony, they're a great place for West Coast style burritos. The carnitas is particularly good.
Decent Irish bar. There are better in the City, but this one is close.
Craft beer and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. Hard to argue with.
Inexpensive second-run theater. It's not a stellar cinematic experience, but local theaters are hard to come by these days.
Cozy coffee shop with a palpable "local feel" and live music at times.
Local second-run movie theater.
Great English pub with a pretty good jukebox.
