Carole and Kevin were fantastic hosts. The cottage is cosy and unique. We had fresh eggs and chocolate on arrival and Kevin brought over fresh smoked mackerel for us. We loved the feel of the place from the decor, the animals, dogs and donkeys! We met our lovely neighbors on the last night in the converted barn. We would definitely come again !! Perfect stay, thank you!!!!

We spent 2 nights at Carole's house. We were 2 couples, and spent a wonderful weekend. The cottage is really well furbished, we had everything we need : good beds, fireplace, candles and we fed the ducks ! The lake is really closed to the house and we did walks around. I recommend this place for people who want to spend a weekend outside the city, enjoying the countryside. Thanks Carole !

We felt like we were in the real Ireland. If we sat in the courtyard of this historic farm compound long enough, half of Ireland would come to us. And little wonder considering how wonderful, warm, welcoming, enjoyable and knowledgeable our hosts Kevin and Carol are. We felt completely adopted, and it was wonderful. We stayed in the Gamekeeper's Cottage for a month in July and found it cozy and comfortable, completely renovated but totally in keeping with the original design and flavor. And bring your camera, the whole place is a photographer's dream. Our family naturally gathered around the peat-fired stove in the evenings. Tucked in rural Clare County, it's a short walk to beautiful Lake Derg, a crystal clear gem dotted with little green islands. It offered endless opportunities for activities: forest trails, abbey and castle ruins, fishing, boating, river tours, good restaurants and pubs. There's easy access to shopping and well-known tourist sights. Ireland's internet system is not robust, but there's a great computer center in nearby Scariff which accommodates big up and downloads. And Scariff is packed full of all the shops that we ever needed for all our supplies as well as good parking! Truly, what does one say about a place where you've been absorbed into the culture and made a member of the family. We miss everybody and the place a lot.
