Saltair is a light filled, comfortable house with everything one needs for a stress free trip away from the city. The gourmet kitchen and two living zones are ideal for families. The outside areas are spacious and the beach is a 5 minute walk away!
Architect designed, double story beach house on the beautiful Great Ocean Road with views over the Otway National Park. Only 10 minute walk to the beach with two separate living areas, four bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, large balcony and outdoor undercover entertaining area. The north facing house takes full advantage of the land and is nested in a natural garden setting.
The idyllic seaside village, Fairhaven, is a 90 minute drive from Melbourne and is located on one of Australia's iconic tourist destinations - The Great Ocean Road. The quiet location features a unique 6km sandy beach and surf coast. Shops, cafes and restaurants are nearby: 1km east to Aireys Inlet for the closest shops, 15km to the west is the bustle of Lorne and 10km east is the township of Anglesea. Public transport is by bus and connects all the townships along the Great Ocean Road.
Both Anglesea and Lorne have spectacular golf clubs that are open to the general public. Anglesea's golf club is world renowned for its large local kangaroo population and Lorne's golf club is equally known for its amazing views over Louttit Bay. Blazing Saddles in Aireys Inlet do horseback trail rides on the beach and through the bush. Fairhaven is surrounded by Flora and Fauna reserves, State Forests and the Great Otway National Park. There are numerous walking and mountain biking tracks.
Interaction with Guests
We will not be present during your stay. The house is all yours!
Other Things to Note
Please note that bed linen and towels are not provided. You must bring your own. If this is not possible then let me know and I can possibly arrange for you.
Our only request is that you respect our home (and surroundings) and leave it in the manner you found it. Please turn off all the heaters and put any rubbish in the bins outside before leaving - many guests seem to overlook these important courtesies which has driven the heating bill up enormously and left the house pretty smelly on occasions.
There is a linen cupboard in the hallway which contains our private belongings and is locked. The outdoor shed with the roller door is also locked and contains mostly garden tools. Our home is a strictly non-smoking environment. There is plenty of native wildlife around and so domestic pets are off limits.
Bed linen and towels are not provided. Tenants must bring their own linen including bath & beach towels, bath mat, doona covers, sheets and pillow slips.
Jane was wonderful to deal with. My family and I had a wonderful time away at Janes beautiful home. The house really accommodated to a group of 8 people with lots to offer. We loved the artwork and fire place.
An amazing property in Fairhaven and only a short car journey from Lorne. Incredibly comfortable and perfect for that quiet getaway. Jane was great throughout the process and kindly supplied linen for a small fee which was greatly appreciated. We really couldn't fault anything and it was just a shame we couldn't stay longer
Saltaire is the perfect base for exploring the Great Ocean Road. The house is beautiful, comfortable and easily spacious enough for our group of 8. We did not meet Jane, but she was excellent to deal with. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.
Great house! Well set up and close to the beach. 6 of us spent 2 nights very comfortably at Jane's house. Great to have 3 bathrooms and lots of space to lounge about in the house and relax!
Definitely a great weekend house away!
The house was amazing and spacious. Kitchen and living areas were fully stocked with all the makings of a good weekend. Convenient location. Highly recommended!
Jane's house was beautiful - perfect for a little weekend getaway! Despite not meeting in person, Jane was a great communicator and a very welcoming host.
The house has everything you need to relax, cook and have fun. And it is just a short walk/drive to beautiful Fairhaven beach. We really enjoyed dining on the outside deck and soaking up the sunshine.
Saltaire at Fairhaven was the perfect family holiday destination. The house was extremely comfortable and well set out with the parents bedroom and en suite at one end of the house and our teenagers bedrooms at the other with their own bathroom and retreat area. We all loved the artwork in the house and the beautiful garden complete with sculptures - very similar taste to us and we can see the owner is well traveled with great taste - very comfortable felt like it was our own with very relaxed atmosphere. Kitchen extremely well set up and if we go back in winter would be great for creating tasty meals to eat in front of the open fire. Ate really well at fantastic contemporary local eateries a la Greque, Aireys pub and even the local Surf club had great fare. Our teenage daughters went horse riding and despite some rain we swam 3 times at Fairhaven beach which had consistently great surf. Yes would definitely book again.
