Room for rent in Long Island CIty, located 20 minutes outside of midtown Manhattan. The room features a full size bed, a full size futon that can be used as a sofa or bed, a dresser, a mirror, and a computer desk with chairs. There are also two closets for clothes and extra storage space. The bedroom fits two people very comfortably and can fit a third or fourth guest on the large futon that opens up into a bed for an extra $25 a night per guest. You would share a bathroom with the other Airbnb guests in the other bedroom. Each bedroom has their own lock on the door for secure privacy and each has their own entrance way to the room. There is no kitchen, however you do share a refrigerator, a microwave and a toaster. Great for storing food/drinks and having a small snack or breakfast.
As well there is free WIFI internet throughout the house. Clean sheets are always provided and a cleaning lady comes by to clean the bathroom and common areas. The apt is a 10 minute walk to the N/Q Broadway Ave Subway stop and 20 minutes outside of midtown Manhattan and Times Square. It is also conveniently located close to 24 hr supermarket, shops, cafes, bars and much more. Around the corner there is a 24 hour diner that delivers. Located in Long Island CIty/Astoria, one of the safest and trendiest neighborhoods in all of New York City!
Things we provide: clean sheets, blankets, pillows, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels.
In order to stay economical we do not provide towels, however, if you need them you could rent them at $3 per towel, which can be paid in cash at check in. Just please let us know in advance.
Hope to see you soon : )
There is no smoking in the house, however there is an outdoor space for smoking. As well, you are responsible to empty out your won small trash can in your bedroom if it gets full and replace the plastic bag which are located in the bedroom. The filled up garbage bag can be tossed in the garbage can outside in front of the house. Please leave the place as you found it with exception to normal wear and tear. When you check out, just leave the keys on the table and close the door behind you : ).
This accommodation is much closer to a hostel experience than to a room rental one, meaning, the rest of the room of the house are rented to other guests and most likely you will not see the owner unless sth unexpected happens I guess.
The room, as it is shown, is very big, with a lot of room for luggage and stuff. It is located in the basement of the house, it has windows to the house courtyard. The toilet is shared with other room in the basement. There is also a fridge, a microwave and an oven in the corridor between the two rooms and the toilet.
The main drawback we found is that the room was quite cold. We talked with the owner about this and they explained us that the temperature for the house is set from a central thermostat in 68F (20ºC). That is not bad, and in fact the rest of the house is quite comfortable. The problem is that this room has two large windows facing to the courtyard with a not very good insulation so it was way colder than the rest of the house. We could use a heater, however, as the room was quite big, the heater did not make much difference.
The neighbourhood was great. A couple of supermarkets and some places to have breakfast on your way to the underground to go to Manhattan, which is a very short ride away.
Overall, a great place to stay for the price, but don't expect luxuries you are not paying for.
Just as described and in a quiet neighborhood. There was a grocery store around the corner that we didn't get to go to, but we did check out the diner in that shopping center, and it was delicious! There is a terrible draft in the room and not enough blankets that made the room super cold at night, but Elvis was nice enough to address this when I contacted him and moved my friends and me to a warmer room upstairs. It was a cold weekend, but the location was fairly close to the bus stop that connected us to a subway that was no more than 15 minutes to Times Square. Overall, you get what you pay for, nothing less or more, and I would come back/recommend to friends. Thanks for a nice stay!
Very cool and nice people, great place to stay and they are very helpful. Will be telling others :)

We are a young professional couple who live in NYC and rent out rooms and apts through Airbnb. Elvis was born in Croatia and came to NYC as a 7 year old kid. While Suki was born in Serbia and has been in NYC for a year now. We call Astoria, New York our home and make a great team together. Suki is a part time student at La Guardia college while Elvis works in real estate. We are down to earth people, who are very family oriented and love meeting people from all over the world. We make sure your stay is a nice and comfortable one. We treat you the way we like to be treated when we travel. We have about 10 bedrooms for rent and 3 apts, all in the New York City area. Our home is your home and we hope to see you soon : ).
