Interaction with Guests
This is pretty much up to you...some people become involved in the family side of life in Jericho and others prefer to stay quiet and private but there is always a good interaction in the kitchen area.
Jericho is great! It is so full of life and action which means just going about your business is always quite interesting. The shops are good and the restaurants, pubs, bars and ice-cream shops are plentiful and varied. A good mixture of local residents, students and visitors makes for a wonderful social life. We are near great places for jogging, Port Meadow, University Parks and the riverside. The Ashmolean, the Bodleain Library, Natural History Museum and Pitt Rivers are all a must and close at hand. The Botanical gardens too are very special to Oxford.... not to mention the colleges..... which surround this location.
Public transport in and around Oxford is first class. There are regular links to the airports (The Airline bus) and to London. We are right in the heart of Oxford! The X90 goes via Baker Street; The Tube via Notting Hill and Marble Arch. Bus costs Pnds13/15/18 for a day return to Victoria...really good value! Trains are faster but more costly.
Other Things to Note
There is a special filtered water tap so you can re-fill your bottle. I have a hair dryer and shampoo/conditioner for you if required.
Everyone expected to behave extremely well! In fact, I like guests to feel at home but to respect the house and any other guests. Also they need to be clean and tidy up after themselves if they use the kitchen. I clean the kitchen and bathrooms very frequently so they are always fresh.
Alison war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Die Beschreibung des Zimmers und Badezimmers war genau.
That's OK - thanks for the comment and you are quite right. I think the extreme rain and damp weather has not helped ( what a great British summer!) and yet it's not cold enough for the heating to go on yet, which makes the wetroom warm and dry. I think it's good to either leave the fan on to ventilate the room or leave the door ajar, as you did.
cozy bedroom with private bathroom, very conveniently placed in central Oxford.
Staying at Alison's was a delight. Well set up, easy, and central. Thoughtful extras like sensor motion lights on the stairwell.
I messed up my dates a bit and Fred was very accommodating and easy to get hold of. Much appreciated.
Do be mindful for her description of the room and bathroom. The bed is very comfortable but has a solid end at the feet. I am 168cm and could just touch the bottom. If you are much over 172cm I think it would feel cramped or you may not fit. The room is perfect for one person but would be small for 2. The bathroom is ingenious. Great having my own loo and sink for nighttime ablutions but the space is small for showering - you can use the large downstairs bathroom instead. Be mindful of this when you book if you are of larger build. You may wish to book one of the other rooms which are bigger. However, for me, this was just perfect. Thanks.
This was the second time I have stayed at Alison's house in Oxford and it was just as enjoyable as the first time. Excellent location and a comfortable bed, what is there not to like?
Had a great time in the house, Alison was a perfect host who warmly welcomes her guests so that they feel immediately at home. Kitchen offers everything a chef could possibly think of. Room was cosy and tidy, bathroom as well. Very comfortable bed, nice and quiet neighbourhood, hipster cafes are close though (Little Clarendon Road), 5 min walk to touristy city center.
It was a wonderful experience! The room was just as shown in the photos. It was also nice to have a private bathroom. The neighborhood was quiet and non-touristy while being only a short walking-distance away from the train station, the bus station, and the city center. Alison was such a warm and caring host. She would make sure that I had what I needed. She also gave me good suggestions on where to visit in Oxford. I would stay there again!
This was my first stay with Airbnb, and my experience was very positive! Alison was a considerate and friendly host, and the other guests were nice, interesting, and respectful. The room and bathroom were as advertised, and I was very comfortable during my stay. The bed even had an electric blanket. The location is close to the central university area, but I found it quiet at night. I have stayed in various hotels/B&Bs in Oxford over the years, but the combination of location, value, and friendliness (of both Alison and the other guests) is hard to beat.

About the Host, Alison
Dynamic, artistic mother of 4. Now hosting with my two sons Frank and Fred.
Our guests are very important to us and we like to respond quickly and positively to on the spot issues and to deal with anything that is not as you had expected or to cater for your particular needs as best we can. We all really enjoy the interesting people who pass through our house and many of them return, which is particularly nice and indeed most gratifying.
Much of my time is spent in the Algarve as I have a daughter farming there and I like to help. We are shortly going to be putting some rooms on Airbnb and there so look out for them!
