Pretty room with antique French bed and nice desk. It's a light and airy room in blue and white decor at the top of the house and at the back of the street. It has its own private compact wetroom with WC. Ideal for study and rest. Kitchen for you!
Lovely room in heart of trendy Jericho, Oxford with an old French double bed, 185cm long so slightly shorter than the usual 190cm but extremely comfortable and a top quality mattress. The room is usually rented for a minimum of one week but gaps of a few days can be filled in!) and is cleaned at least weekly with bed linen changed. Bathroom is private and not at all big (see photos)! ...but the shower has unlimited hot water, there are shelves for your creams and lotions etc It is tasteful, efficient, easy to keep clean (marble walls) and nice and warm in winter with a heated towel rail, washbasin, antique mirror and white WC. Your room has a double bed, 19th Century French, a wardrobe, antique desk, drawers, digital TV with headphones, WiFi. All bills included.
Self-service breakfast and full use of fully equipped kitchen. There is a washing machine with drier, ironing board etc
Interaction with Guests
This is pretty much up to you...some people become involved in the family side of life in Jericho and others prefer to stay quiet and private but there is always a good interaction in the kitchen area.
Jericho is great! It is so full of life and action which means just going about your business is always quite interesting. The shops are good and the restaurants, pubs, bars and ice-cream shops are plentiful and varied. A good mixture of local residents, students and visitors makes for a wonderful social life. We are near great places for jogging, Port Meadow, University Parks and the riverside. The Ashmolean, the Bodleain Library, Natural History Museum and Pitt Rivers are all a must and close at hand. The Botanical gardens too are very special to Oxford.... not to mention the colleges..... which surround this location.
Public transport in and around Oxford is first class. There are regular links to the airports (The Airline bus) and to London. We are right in the heart of Oxford! The X90 goes via Baker Street; The Tube via Notting Hill and Marble Arch. Bus costs Pnds13/15/18 for a day return to Victoria...really good value! Trains are faster but more costly.
Other Things to Note
There is a special filtered water tap so you can re-fill your bottle. I have a hair dryer and shampoo/conditioner for you if required.
Everyone expected to behave extremely well! In fact, I like guests to feel at home but to respect the house and any other guests. Also they need to be clean and tidy up after themselves if they use the kitchen. I clean the kitchen and bathrooms very frequently so they are always fresh.
Alison is great! This is my second time staying at her place. As usual the place is well kept and nice.
Alison was a very courteous host and the apartment was extremely nice. Perfect for a week-long stay while attending Said Business School at Oxford. It was a very short walk into centre city and also the neighbourhood had a great deal to offer in the way of shopping and food. Excellent overall experience, plenty of space and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. Thank you!
Echt super!
Alison is a wonderful host. She made me feel immediately welcome. There was tea to be shared and toast to be tried from a freshly bought loaf of really nice bread.
The place and the room is very much like the description on the website. But of course what one cannot communicate is the sense of welcome, and freedom you feel when you have a chance to reside here for a while. It is a perfectly pleasant house, an understandable kitchen and a lovely setting.
The Jericho area in Oxford is accessible and enjoyable.
If i were to return to Oxford this place would certainly be good to come back to.
This was my first B&B experience. So I was a little bit worried about everything. Then, when I arrived, I knocked the door twice and Alison showed up. Since then I felt home! She was a very kind person and with a astonishing good humor. How about the house/room? The kitchen is always clean and available much of the time. The toilet/bathroom of the roof (the one that I used) is clean and has everything you need. And the room is very good and nice, it offers heating, a desk and a very very nice bed! I will miss that place...
I've never tried drinking 'chimarrao'...is it as dangerous as Cashaca? My son brought some of that back from his visit to Brazil and ended up wearing pyjamas in Kings Cross Station, hardly able to get back to UCL (where he was supposed to be studying Physics at the time)...it was at the fresher party, which was a pyjama party (that explains the pyjamas, in case you, the readers, were wondering!).
OK We'll try it this chimarrao!
Nice cosy place. Enjoyed my stay there. Alison & Frank have been excellent hosts
I stayed in this room for a research visit and had a perfect stay. The room was very nice. It is well kept, warm, clean and quiet. Alison was a very considerate host. From the room it is about a five minutes 5walk to the center. I would definitely advice staying here.
