The Space

Minimum stay TWO nights during summer months.

We have a three-room, self-contained annex within our home in one of the Britain's beautiful national parks - the New Forest.
In the UK we call this a 'granny annex'; a suite of rooms attached to the family home but with complete privacy.

ROOM 1: You get to sleep in an antique Victorian iron double bed which is extremely comfortable with views over your own personal patio. On sunny days (we do have them in Britain) you can eat out on the patio.

ROOM 2: An adjacent living room provides the comfort of a sofa which converts into a double bed for two further guests. Obviously a sofa bed is less comfortable than a real bed but here guests get the luxury (email hidden) flat screen TV on the wall for programmes, DVDs or gaming. There is a wood burning stove in the living room for those wetter, cooler, wintery evenings when you need some coziness. Furnishing is completed with an oval table. Free wi-fi throughout.

ROOM 3: The apartment has its own entrance and an en suite bathroom fitted with basin, toilet and shower. Being self-contained you can have complete privacy and can come and go as you please.

CHILDREN: Well behaved children are welcome but please be advised that we do not have a cot or the facilities to cater for the very young.

FOOD: There are NO COOKING FACILITIES in the rooms but we include breakfast (with eggs laid daily by our own hens) in the price and the occasional evening meals from the family kitchen by prior arrangement at extra cost. There are three inns (pubs) in the village - all of which serve food. Or you could cook up something on a portable barbecue (provided) on the patio.

GARDEN ROOM: We also have a Scandinavian reindeer lodge in the garden which has three bench beds and a cooking console. More suitable for glampers (glamorous campers) with sleeping bags but a great place for entertaining! It means we could cater for a party of seven if three are prepared to 'rough it' in the lodge!!

LOCATION: Our property is 10 mins by car from the sea and close to the large towns of Bournemouth (20 mins), Poole (35 Mins), Southampton (35 mins) and Salisbury (45 mins). It is a very beautiful part of southern England with easy transport links to London (approx 2 hours) by motorway, or by train or coach. Guests travelling by public transport can be collected from coach and train stations if required.

The New Forest is, in fact, a very old medieval woodland once the favoured hunting ground of England's royalty. Today it is a tourist haunt for off-road cyclists, walkers, sailors, historians, naturalists and bird watchers. Ponies, cattle, donkeys and pigs in season roam free and deer are frequently seen. Nearby Bournemouth provides the sandy beaches, bright lights and night life.

The village is a good base for visiting historic southern Britain - Stonehenge, Winchester (once the royal capital of England), Corfe Castle and the Jurassic Coast, the Solent and the Isle of Wight. Both Amanda and Terry are knowledgeable locals who have known the area since childhood. It would be our pleasure to ensure you have a fulfilling and enjoyable stay.

  • Very comfortable accommodation, great breakfasts and charming host. We stayed one week and Terry and Amanda provided excellent advice concerning where to go, what to do and where to eat - not always easy for them as we weren't the regular walk/cycle tourists. Would not hesitate in recommending their place to others.

  • Comely & tranquil little hide-away with the best full English breakfast this side of Cassiopeia.

Terry & Amanda make you instantly welcome and are perfect hosts. The annexe is cosy and nicely furnished and has everything one could ask for. Terry is making a hearty breakfast that will set you up for a day's activity in the forest or on the beach come rain (hardly ever I've been assured ;-)) or sunshine.

Next time I'm in the area I'm sure to stop by again and so should you.

  • Terry was a great host! We had shortbread upon our arrival, which was a nice treat after a long day of travelling. He provided ample details about my many questions regarding travel in the New Forest / Isle of Wight area. I'm pretty sure without that guidance, we would have been completely lost (or more so than we already were!). Our internet was a bit slow in the evening, but Terry addressed that after we made a request to see if it could be improved. The suite was tidy and attractive and had everything a traveller would need. Breakfast was pleasant, as we had conversations about politics, life, and careers. My daughter, a vegetarian, enjoyed her custom meal also. All in all, an enjoyable experience. We wish we had more time to explore the area, but our time was limited.

  • We had a lovely stay with Terry and Amanda. They were so helpful when our journey hit delays and went the extra mile for us. Including booking us a table at the local pub so that we didn't miss out on having a meal. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and very well decorated and kitted out, everything was quite luxurious. The breakfast was delicious and perfectly cooked by Terry. We were really well looked after by friendly and fun hosts.

  • The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, even giving us a lift to the station on our last day. Breakfast was delicious and just right with fresh eggs from the chickens and the most delicious mushrooms you'll ever taste. The annexe was spacious, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, it felt like we were the first guests they had ever had. The beautiful antique bed is lovely and very comfortable and the shower excellent. The village boasts three pubs that do food, one of which is really quite outstanding and only a five minute walk from the house. We don't own a car which meant that we were a little stuck, but Terry offered numerous times to give us lifts to various places and to loan us bikes. Unless you're only staying for a day or two and don't mind pottering about the tiny high street and to a few pubs, we would recommend taking a car, but this was perfect for our mini-break.

  • We had a great time with Terry and Amanda.
The place is exactly what it says and was simply perfect for us.
We would definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed the fine breakfasts and Terry is not only a fine cook but a grreat host.
The "extreme" sausages are certianly an added benefit!

  • We stayed with Terry for a night last week and it was brilliant. The annexe we had was amazing - spacious, tranquil, clean, and private. All the little touches you need for a comfortable stay - blankets, fire, extra toiletries, etc. My boyfriend loved the book magazine collection! Terry was really welcoming - gave us lots of info about the local area, the best routes to take, etc. He was really accommodating for our veggie breakfast and we had the most delicious eggs we've ever had from his wonderful chickens! We would definitely recommend to anyone.

  • What more can we say that hasn't been said already? The accommodation was ideal for our needs with a separate lounge area for us and our dog! Terry's breakfast was great with fresh eggs from his hens and home made bread. Separate private entrance and ample parking. Pubs and shops just a sort walk away. Will definitely be returning.

  • What a lovely weekend spent in the New Forest. Terry and Amanda were so welcoming and the self contained accommodation in their home was much more than just comfortable - it was warm, cosy, pretty and peaceful.

Terry and Amanda gave us lots of information on the best walks, things to do, places to eat (The Three Tuns at the end of the road was great) and somehow even got the sun to shine!

Thanks again and see you soon when we come and stay next time!

    Aaron and Francesca

Oh can't believe I almost forgot the cracking breakfasts that set you up for the day but mean you have to walk a good few miles to warrant any lunch!

Hi. Amanda is a former senior midwife, married to Terry with two teenage girls - Alaina and Phoebe. We are well travelled and between us have covered much of the globe (still have a bit of Asia to do). We both grew up in this area and returned after many years working and travelling away. Terry is semi-retired and able to devote time meeting guests and ensuring they are comfortable, well fed, and enjoying themselves in this beautiful area of the UK. It is a joy to meet new people and return the wonderful hospitality we have experienced from others in our travels around the world. We are keen off-road cyclists, sailors, and enjoy a good party.
