Relax in the private, three-room suite within our home in one of the Britain's beautiful national parks - the New Forest, with its walks, cycle tracks and beaches. Enjoy a breakfast of your choice from vegan to a traditional cooked full English.
We have a three-room, self-contained annex within our home in one of the Britain's beautiful national parks - the New Forest.
In the UK we call this a 'granny annex'; a suite of rooms attached to the family home but with complete privacy.
ROOM 1: You get to sleep in an antique Victorian iron double bed which is extremely comfortable with views over your own personal patio. On sunny days (we do have them in Britain) you can eat out on the patio.
ROOM 2: An adjacent living room provides the comfort of a sofa which converts into a double bed for two further guests. Obviously a sofa bed is less comfortable than a real bed but here guests get the luxury (email hidden) flat screen TV on the wall for programmes, DVDs or gaming. There is a wood burning stove in the living room for those wetter, cooler, wintery evenings when you need some coziness. Furnishing is completed with an oval table. Free wi-fi throughout.
ROOM 3: The apartment has its own entrance and an en suite bathroom fitted with basin, toilet and shower. Being self-contained you can have complete privacy and can come and go as you please.
CHILDREN: Well behaved children are welcome but please be advised that we do not have a cot or the facilities to cater for the very young.
FOOD: There are NO COOKING FACILITIES in the rooms but we include breakfast (with eggs laid daily by our own hens) in the price and the occasional evening meals from the family kitchen by prior arrangement at extra cost. There are three inns (pubs) in the village - all of which serve food. Or you could cook up something on a portable barbecue (provided) on the patio.
GARDEN ROOM: We also have a Scandinavian reindeer lodge in the garden which has three bench beds and a cooking console. More suitable for glampers (glamorous campers) with sleeping bags but a great place for entertaining! It means we could cater for a party of seven if three are prepared to 'rough it' in the lodge!!
LOCATION: Our property is 10 mins by car from the sea and close to the large towns of Bournemouth (20 mins), Poole (35 Mins), Southampton (35 mins) and Salisbury (45 mins). It is a very beautiful part of southern England with easy transport links to London (approx 2 hours) by motorway, or by train or coach. Guests travelling by public transport can be collected from coach and train stations if required.
The New Forest is, in fact, a very old medieval woodland once the favoured hunting ground of England's royalty. Today it is a tourist haunt for off-road cyclists, walkers, sailors, historians, naturalists and bird watchers. Ponies, cattle, donkeys and pigs in season roam free and deer are frequently seen. Nearby Bournemouth provides the sandy beaches, bright lights and night life.
The village is a good base for visiting historic southern Britain - Stonehenge, Winchester (once the royal capital of England), Corfe Castle and the Jurassic Coast, the Solent and the Isle of Wight. Both Amanda and Terry are knowledgeable locals who have known the area since childhood. It would be our pleasure to ensure you have a fulfilling and enjoyable stay.
What a lovely weekend spent in the New Forest. Terry and Amanda were so welcoming and the self contained accommodation in their home was much more than just comfortable - it was warm, cosy, pretty and peaceful.
Terry and Amanda gave us lots of information on the best walks, things to do, places to eat (The Three Tuns at the end of the road was great) and somehow even got the sun to shine!
Thanks again and see you soon when we come and stay next time!

Oh can't believe I almost forgot the cracking breakfasts that set you up for the day but mean you have to walk a good few miles to warrant any lunch!
We are four friends who had a weekend away and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Terry was very welcoming and provided excellent ideas of what to do while in the New Forest, he was very easy to talk to and happy to go the extra mile. The accommodation was perfect for our needs with comfortable bedding, clean bathroom (great shower!) and the best breakfast we have been given in a long time (cooked by Terry). He catered well for both the vegetarian and meat eaters of the group in a relaxing atmosphere which is just what we needed on a Sunday morning. We enjoyed some time in his purpose built bbq hut as well as relaxing in the lounge part of accommodation by the fire. The local pub The Three Tuns has a great Saturday night atmosphere and delicious food, it is a 5 minute walk away. If you are looking for a place to stay, don't keep looking, stay here! Thank you Terry & Amanda!
Really lovely place to stay. The weather wasn't great for us but the log burning stove was super cosy and warm. The bed was extremely comfortable and overall the rooms were clean and well appointed. Terry went out of his way to be helpful and welcoming and even managed to cook us breakfast despite the Aga being on the blink....a valiant effort. Would certainly recommend this as a place to stay when visiting the New Forest.
What a gorgeous place to stay! We really enjoyed how remote the house was yet how close we were to local towns too. Terry was an extremely hospitable host and showed us to the annexe and went through everything. He took our breakfast order and what time we'd like to come through for breakfast and then kindly chopped some wood for us so we could use the log fire. Having your own entrance was a definite plus and you felt comfortable to come and go as you please. Terry was always on hand to give advice on the local area which was great. The accommodation itself was really comfortable, and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back!
A lovely cosy suite of rooms close to lots of lovely forest walks with a great pub nearby serving really good food. Terry was very helpful and full of local knowledge and he is really keen that you get the best out of the area. The wood burning stove was great as we visited over a very wet and windy new year and Terry's tasty, veggie friendly breakfasts prepared us for the day- he even has gluten free bread available, what a star. We will be back!
Terry and Amanda were the perfect hosts during our stay. Terry cooked a lovely veggie breakfast for us on both days, and gave great tips for local walks, pubs and attractions. It was lovely to join Terry and Amanda at the local Three Tuns pub for a drink one evening - this cosy pub was just around the corner, and the food was delicious.
The annex space was ideal, well decorated, with it's own television, and we particularly enjoyed lighting the log fire!
We can't wait to return on our next visit to the beautiful New Forest. 10/10.
if you take the time to read the description, look at the photos and read the reviews there won't be any surprises here for you. It's a very nice place, Terry loves a chat and you'll almost certainly find yourself in the Three Tuns on his recommendation.
bonus points for:
- folder for recommended walks - we used and was invaluable
- log burning fire
- clean bathroom
- really nice comfy bed, wifi cosy place to spend time if weather isn't great
This was very nice, Terry was very kind and helpfull.
i would definitly recommend.
Terry was friendly and welcoming. He had a lot of local knowledge and pointed us in the direction of the beautiful Hicliffe castle and beach - well worth a visit on our way home!
We met a few of his friends as there were fireworks in the local pub on the Friday, all of whom were friendly.
The accommodation was clean and a great base for exploring the local area. We took our two dogs and enjoyed the cosy evenings with the log burner going.
All in all a great experience of airbnb and recommended for couples who want a base for the new forest.
Oh, and breakfast was gorgeous!
Terry was the perfect host - welcoming, thoughtful, and very easy to talk to. The annex was as described, comfortable and cosy, and my three girlfriends and I revelled in the countryside location - with great pub to hand in the form of The Three Tuns. Terry's breakfast was delicious, and he even let us use his aga one evening to heat pizza. Would definitely come back. Thanks Terry!
