Perfect location in the heart of Oaxaca. Very clean, spacious and exactly as described. Silvia was not present but Olga, Silvia and Augustine were the perfect hosts - very friendly and full of useful information. Highly recommended. Thank you.
This was our first experience with Airbnb. It could not have been better. Olga, Silvia and Augustine were delightful hosts. They were always available to answer our questions. The place was large, lovely and well cared for. Everyone went out of their way to assist us and we look forward to returning when we can to pick up the conversation where we left off. Don't miss the little symbol that you can click to see the guidebook provided by the younger of the two Silvia's (who is currently out of the country but always available by email.) Ying the dog is old and kind too and the coffee is delicious. We very much felt we left too soon.
These are very lovely people to stay with!
Sylvia's place is in a great location in the heart of Oaxaca - we walked everywhere and the only time we took a taxi was to go to Monte Alban. The apartment itself is clean and comfortable, and quite adequate. The upstairs terrace is a nice place to sit in the evenings. We were surprised and delighted to be met at the bus station by Sylvia's aunt & uncle (?) - so kind :-) We didn't meet Sylvia herself as she was away.
Olga, who lives downstairs, and with whom guests share the kitchen and living room, was pleasant, but seemed slightly uncomfortable with having us around. Perhaps, though, that was due to our very basic Spanish skill... The dog, Ying, is a sweetheart!
This is a very pleasant place in the central part of Oaxaca. The price is very reasonable with hot showers, privacy, and Olga, Silvia, and Agustin are very helpful. We were here twice for several days each time and recommend it highly.
Our stay here was great. The location is awesome. We walked from the bus station to the house with all of our luggage and did not need to take a cab the entire time we were there. Olga/Silvia were great hosts and super hospitable. I recommend this place to anyone visiting Oaxaca.
Our stay at Olga's was fantastic! We were warmly welcomed by Olga, Silvia (younger), Silvia (older) and Augustin - and Yin (Olga's faithful dog). We left feeling that we have developed special lifelong friendships. This wonderful people connection was the very best part of our time in the amazing city of Oaxaca!
The location was ideal - only 3 blocks from the Zocalo. We could come and go as we pleased - an easy walk back for a siesta, if we wanted. We were in Oaxaca for the Day of the Dead - a loud and joyous festival. But since the house is set back from the street, it was very quiet and restful amidst all the wonderful happenings in the city.
The bed was very comfortable and we had a lovely outdoor sitting patio right outside our bedroom. We were invited to use the kitchen and had our own refrigerator for storing food and beverages. And morning coffee from the family's own coffee plantation!
This was our first AirBNB experience - and it couldn't have been better! Through the great people that we met at "La Casa de Olga," we had the chance to really experience the best of what Oaxaca has to offer - to get to know some of its fine people. They let us know that they were available to us to the extent that we wanted. We practiced our Spanish with them, had great (though simple!) conversations and lots of laughs! Many wonderful experiences that we certainly wouldn't have gotten in a hotel.
If we ever make it back to Oaxaca - and I certainly hope we will - we very much hope that Olga and her family will be there to again welcome us! We're very grateful to have had the chance to stay at "La Casa de Olga."
Excelente lugar. Espacioso, luminoso, bien ubicado, bien equipado, con anfitriones ultra-simpáticos.
Olga and Silvia's house is indeed in the heart of Oaxaca! As mentioned, it is blocks from the Zocalo and market, mere steps from fantastic food and shopping, and generally where all kinds of action is. (It's also worth mentioning that that area of town and Oaxaca in general are very safe!) Olga, Silvia, and her family went above and beyond their call of duty as hosts, giving us sound advice for places to eat and things to see, how much things should cost, where not to go, and even insight into Oaxacan culture, contemporary and traditional. Accommodations were wonderful: hot water, access to a kitchen, and an amazing semi out-door patio/balcony! Much much thanks to La Familia Chang for making our stay in Oaxaca that much more fantastic!
