Helen and Darryl made us feel super welcome in their beautiful place. The gardens are stunning: lush and tranquil and wonderfully secluded. We swam in their pool, relaxed on comfy chairs and watched golden weaver birds and ibises flit to and fro. The house itself was clean and airy, with lovely artworks, clean, crisp white linen and serviced every day. It was a delight to stay there and we hope to visit again soon!
Rarely have I had a more welcoming, warmer, friendly start of trip as with Helen. She and her family have given me many hints on what to do and helped me get around in the short-of-public-transport city of Johannesburg. The room was squeaky clean and comfortable. It is a separate dwelling next to their house and their garden is beautiful. The neighbourhood is definitely safe and well taken care of. Directions were clear, and it was a pleasure to talk with them about the Country and places to visit. A good breakfast did the rest.
When you're near the end of your trip and you think it can't get any better - and you have stayed in some great places - then comes Helen and Darryl's in Parkview. I stayed in the Coal Shed - it was perfect.
It is a great location, very comfortable, great breakfasts, clean and safe. They are so friendly, I only wish I'd had more time to chat about Johannesburg. I was lucky enough to be taken on a walk of the surrounding suburbs, and see some of its views, learn about the local history, it was fascinating.
Thank you both for your help and hospitality. Rudolf
Helen was very friendly and she made us feel very welcome at the Remote Corner. My 4 year old son calls her Aunty Helen and asked constantly when we left if we'd be back to have lunch with her.
The accommodation was neat and very clean, the beds were super comfy with clean and warm bedding. One day we got home and Helen has installed a brand new stove for us to use because she was going to replace the old one at some point but saw that we often cooked food for ouselves and thought she'd just do it then.
We stayed at a few places in South Africa during our visit this time but the Remote Corner was by far the best in my exprience.
We had a lovely stay in the Rose Cottage and very much enjoyed the beautiful garden, delicious breakfasts, and the two dogs! Great hosts and great location.
The Coal Cottage was charming, clean, and very comfortable. Helen was a marvelous hostess, very hospitable and very forthcoming with all sorts of tips and facts about Johannesburg. The property is really conveniently situated, offering easy 360' access to all that Joburg has to offer. Will definitely stay here again when passing through and highly recommend.
I had a lovely stay at Helen's place for one week (staying there for work). Extremely helpful people, very welcoming and really going the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. Even though it was freezing outside, inside in the room it was warm and cozy. Everything clean and comfortable. Breakfast really great, in particular I loved every morning the fresh fruit salad. Nice garden with places where you can sit and chill in the sun. Good location also if you want to go running, and Parkview is a beautiful neighbourhood. Definitely recommended, I will go back here!

My husband Darryl and I own and run a Bed and Breakfast in Parkview, where we have lived for the past 30 years. We started the B & B in 2009 when our 2 children went away to university in Cape Town.
I enjoy art and gardening, and Darryl is an engineer. He loves nature and wildlife, and is the Event Director at our local parkrun - and for parkrunners around the world, our run is Delta
We love travelling, although haven't done much recently. If I have a favourite city, ( that of course second to Johannesburg) It would be Paris.
We have met such wonderful people over the years and have made many friends.
