About this listing
A few steps from the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s, next to excellent italian restaurants and fashion boutiques this comfortable and modern loft of about 100 square meters provides a relaxing atmosphere after a day of sightseeing or shopping around the corner in the famous and typical Roman district “ Prati “.
A light, modern style, just completely renovated and new on the market this three bedroom loft consists of a separate bedroom with double bed, two single bedrooms divided by wooden walls and open to the ceiling – open space - and a sofa bed in the living room. The dining tables invites to enjoy some homemade pasta and prosciutto.
The loft is on the ground floor of the building with a quiet interior courtyard that invites to take some sun or have an “aperitivo “ with a good Prosecco.
In Roman times the territory of present Prati district consisted of vineyards and reeds and during the Middle Ages, the area became known as Prata Sancti Petri ("Prati di San Pietro") in reference to the adjacent Basilica.
Today, the area is full of bars, restaurants, bookstores and some of the coolest boutiques in Rome. Most of the famous sightseeing places are in walking distance and the infrastructure is very good. The metro station “Ottaviano” Vatican Museums is right there as well as different bus lines.
If you like to explore Rome with friends or family and still feel like at home in a modern, light flodded, newly decorated apartment, the loft is exactly the right choice.
The outdoor space in the centre of Rome is unbeatable.

The flat is clean and was spacious for our family of five. The location is a mixed blessing. It is mere minutes from the Meseo Vatico and less than 5 minutes from the crowded Roma Metro. The location is very much in the tourist section and the tour guides etc are a constant presence, sometimes annoyingly so.
We found most major sites accessible by Metro and would recommend against taxis as they are far less efficient.
The other aspect of the location is that the restaurants in close proximity are not up to par. I guess it depends on the preference and expectation but we had to venture a ways to find good food.
Otherwise, Alessia was good at arranging transports and check-in and check-out was smooth. Pre arrival communication was good. Overall, I have been trying to be as meaningful in providing reliable feedback and have my own rating system. I'd say this location was about 3/5 stars. Clean, convenient and reasonable comfortable. I'd add that very fresh bedding and towels were provided. On the down side, the main bedroom has a very large floor to ceiling window with no blinds and that made for very early waking up. There is AC in the unit but we caught the hottest Rome summer in years so having AC was nice but at times it was still hot.
I am very sorry to hear the down sides according to Sudhirs own rating system and feel I need to clarify some things: the location is walking distance to lots of sights, including the Vatican. From April to October you have lots of tourists in Rome, everywhere. Being close to the Vatican you can not expect not to see any tourists. If you wanted less tourists you definitely have to travel off season, at leat not in the summer months. As for the restaurants we are always happy to provide excellent places to guests asking for it. A lot of guests do that. Sudhir brought cook books ( that he forgot and we sent to him not charging him ) and I wonder being so interested in good food why he didnt ask or check online for great restaurants that you easily find in the area and in walking distance but like everywhere you have to know. Beside the Vatican of course you do find touristy places. The area itself is not more touristy than all Rome is. Everyone wants to see Rome and It is not quite correct to blame the area. If you wanted a purely residential area there are options but they require taxis and are far from walking distance. Maybe the period was not the right one for Sudhir. We are always happy to provide according information and tips. I am happy to host you again in april May or September and give you our list of excellent restaurants.
Great experience from beginning to end. Alessia arranged transport from airport, Emiliano met us at airport very pleasant journey to apartment, on arrival he explained everything to us. First impression spotlessly clean, crisp white sheets and plenty of room. Apartment very central walked everywhere, took the odd taxi and very pleasantly surprised at the cost, in fact found everything to be value for money. Can't wait to go back. Alice, Chris, Jack & Amy
We had an absolutely fantastic time at this lovely apartment. There were 4 of us but we didn't even use either of the two small rooms each with two single beds. The apartment is clean, spacious, good a/c and wifi, and is just a charming place to spend time. Much like the neighbourhood it sits in, right on the edge of the Vatican City. Everything you need is a few steps away - restaurants, bars, a nice Deli, late night mini-markets, the Metro .... you almost don't need to leave the neighbourhood, though of course you have to because you have the whole of Rome to explore. My sister is already looking forward to coming back with her kids .... and we will be back too...
Alessia was an awesome host! The apartment was in a fantastic location! Near lots of good restaurants and steps away from the Vatican. The home was fully equipped and very nice to stay.
We are so glad we made the decision to book Alessia's loft- it was spacious and clean and was exactly as depicted in the pictures. The location was also a plus with the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's Square a few steps away. Lots of restaurants around the block too. Alessia and Gabriele were easy to communicate with (emails prior to our arrival and phone when we got to Rome). They even arranged for someone to meet us at the airport (Emiliano was patiently waiting despite delayed flight and time looking for lost luggage). If we go to Rome again, we will definitely stay here again!

About the Host, Alessia
I am an italian architect who loves to combine interior design and landscaping. I believe there should be harmony between humans, architecture, landscaping and our environment on earth. Following this philosophy I created Villa Ghiande e Ghirlande together with my five children. It is our paradise in nature to relax, invite friends for homemade pasta, enjoy life and keep alive the creativity I need for new projects.
