A one bedroom apartment in an historic building in downtown Kingston that has a working woodstove, a balcony, a second futon for guests, and a parking spot.
Staying in this apartment is a unique historical experience. This building dates to the 1850s. It was where the German brewmasters lodged who made beer during Sir John A. Macdonald's time, probably for the man himself. You can see the old Bajus Brewery, which has now been converted into condos, from the back balcony, off of the bedroom.
- two blocks from Princess Street (tons of shops, pubs and restaurants)
- one block from the water
- comes with a cozy fireplace (yes, build a fire!)
- a balcony off the bedroom.
- 12 foot ceilings and big bay windows
- double bed upstairs
- a comfortable futon couch allows 2 couples to stay here (as long as you know each other well, because you have to go through the bedroom to get to the bathroom)
- full kitchen but no microwave.
- parking for 1 car
- nearby public transit hub
- two flights of stairs to get into the apartment, no elevator
- it's an old building, so you may see a spider, or dust from the exposed limestone after a day or two of being there.
Please don't panic when you see the check in time - that just means that 7am is the earliest you can arrive.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
A parking spot, balcony, woodstove in the winter.
Just at the beginning, to explain a few things.
Right downtown. Two blocks from shops and restaurants in lower Princess St area.
The bus hub is about 2 blocks away, which gives you access to whole city. Very far from the train or bus station, though.
This is a very old house, and sound travels easily. You need to be respectful of the other tenants, including the elderly Superintendent, who lives right below my living room. Preference will be given to inquiries from people who are in Kingston for professional and not social reasons. This is simply NOT a party house. You can come in late, but only if you are very quiet and plan to go right up to bed! If this sounds too constraining for you, this is probably not the place for you.

Claire was a great host, and her apartment is a fantastic place for anyone looking for a cozy, central place to be in Kingston. My boyfriend and I spent a weekend at her place just for a little getaway, and it was great. The apartment is on a quiet street so it's safe and peaceful, but very centrally located- we could walk to everywhere we went (restaurants, theatres, the lake) in s a small 2 floor set-up with a small kitchen you you can cook simple meals and an adorable wood-burning fireplace so you can come home to a nice fire and glass of wine at the end of the day. The only downside is that the walls are a bit thin and there are neighbouring apartments, so you have to be a bit quiet in the apartment after 10pm. Claire was very accommodating, she met us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour. She left us totally alone all weekend so we could have our privacy, but made sure that we could reach her at any time if we needed anything. The whole experience was great, highly recommend this place!
We enjoyed the quiet and the convenience of this lovely space. We felt totally comfortable and at home and recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in Kingston. Claire was very helpful in all aspects we requested.
Apt was exactly as described: comfortable, welcoming, and conveniently located. Claire was the perfect host - quick to respond to any requests.
Claire is terrific. She went out of her way to make things work out for us. When our interview clothes got wrinkled on the flight we found that we needed an iron. Before we even knew what was happening she'd called a neighbour who brought one over with a smile. The little apartment is comfy, clean, quiet, and centrally located. The wood fireplace lent romantic charm during a surprise blizzard.
Great host. Cozy place with a nice fireplace. Downtown location is a plus. Would stay again.
Claire was a great host, and incredibly responsive to any texts for recommendations or anything else. Her place is really charming, and a great base from which to explore Kingston. 100% recommended.
Claire's apartment is indeed in a historic charming house and utterly lovely to stay in. It is very well situated just off the downtown so handy to all amenities. I feel so fortunate to have found it as a base for visiting my elderly mother nearby in a senior residence.
