About this listing
The magical Green House is one of 2 bungalows that make up Bali's Mimba Villa. Quiet, private, rural, and exotic, with 2 twin beds, AC, wifi, and a lovely pool, it is close to Padangbai and its developing and friendly Hindu-Bali atmosphere.
The GREEN HOUSE is 1 of 2 beautiful Balinese-style modern vacation "bungalows" surrounded by a beautiful garden, each with air con, hot water, & wifi. It sits beside a traditional "bale" (a Hindu-Bali gazebo for relaxation), next to a 6 meter private pool, right in the middle of a rural banana & coconut field, 5 minutes from Padangbai's famous "White Sand Beach".
The "Green House" has 2 single (twin) beds. (And an extra mattress, if needed, for a 3rd person, adult or child). The beds are clean and comfy. The main living-bedroom in each unit is air conditioned, and there is a separate bathroom (w/ a hot water shower) and a kitchen that has a small frig and simple cookware to prepare meals at the villa.
We have 2 friendly Balinese staff people who come daily, 1 to clean the property, the other to clean the pool. They will also gladly help with shopping, errands, babysitting, etc. just ask.
You can book the GREEN HOUSE here.
And book the WHITE HOUSE (with a king size bed) here:
If a guest books BOTH UNITS, we offer a 20% DISCOUNT.
Guests will have access to the unit(s) they rent and to the entire property. The pool and the property will be shared only when both units are simultaneously rented, which is infrequently. Guests also have access to 2 nearby East Coast public & beautiful beaches, the "White Sand" Beach and the "Black Sand" beach. Also to nearby scuba diving and snorkeling. To the nearby Bali Safari Park. To lots of eco-friendly tourism. To local markets. To almost daily Hindu-Bali ceremonies. And to our local manager, Made, who can arrange for anything your heart desires.
Interaction with Guests
My wife and I live in Los Angeles. So our super knowledgeable and capable manager, Made, handles everything at the Villa.
Often only 1 unit is booked at a time, so there is always peace & privacy.
When both units are booked, the pool is shared.
Padangbai is a still quiet and developing fishing village and ferry hub on the East Coast of Bali. It is not nearly so crowded as the Kuta Beach-Seminyak "strip", yet it still has eco-friendly tourism.
Our Villa is set back down a private road and is surrounded by banana and coconut trees, amidst local Mimba Village. It is secluded, private, and peaceful, yet close enough to get anywhere in the Padangbai area, as well as convenient to get around the entire island.
It is helpful, if not essential, to rent a simple-to-operate motor scooter to get on and off the property conveniently. Made, our manager, can arrange for rental and teach newbies to operate the scooter in 15 minutes. It's fun.
Alternatively, guests can just hang out at the villa and walk to the beaches or to town, or arrange for transport when needed, either to town, or for day (or overnight) trips around the entire island.
Also, take note: only small cars will fit down the private, unpaved road. Check your car's model type with Made, our manager.
And buses do arrive in Padangbai from all over the island.
Other Things to Note
Both overnight & long term stays are available. Long term rentals are particularly suitable for retirees and pensioners.
Our pool may not be suitable for young children who don't swim: no guard rails and no "shallow" end". However, plastic tube/"floaties" can solve the problem.
Our main man and manager/concierge, Made (Ma-Day), can pick you up at the Denpasar international airport ($70), check you in personally at the villa, and get you anything you need at the Villa, any time! He can also be your personal host & tour guide to Balinese life and culture: everything from traditional wedding ceremonies, to Barong ballets & "kecak" monkey chants, to local night markets, to scuba diving & snorkeling, to multi-day trips eco-adventuring to Ubud, Amed, Lovina, and all the other magical places around the island.
The villa sits amidst the local Mimba Village community, so guests are asked to to treat the villa as their “home”. That said, the villa is protected by a gate and guests have complete privacy.
Check in is flexible and check out is at 11 a.m. All communication can be done with the villa’s manager, Made Sukanta. Guests are asked to clean up after themselves (otherwise the local critters will be your frequent guests!) - although there is maid service available for cleaning. There is a local doctor in Padangbai, and Made, our manager can help take care of all your needs: shopping, cooking, touring, etc etc. Just ask...
Celluar phones have good reception at the villa. Right now, there are no TVs. (Let's see how long we can hold out!). There is wireless internet connection or guests can buy a data chip for their i-Pad (about $20).
Our stay at Eric & Surya's Green Palace was marvelous! The place is clean and neat, and the area is nice. We rented a motorbike from Made, the manager, who was great. Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We didn't know how to ride a motorbike, but it was easy to learn and fun. It got us the the White Sand Beach very easily. We were in paradise.
As promised I was met at the airport and transported to the villa. Was to surprised to be upgraded to the White Villa. Made met me and arranged for me to get some groceries. The villa is everything promised, clean, open and much larger than expected. Really enjoyed the pool, clean and refreshing. The landscaping add to the relaxing feeling of the villa. Only issue with the pool is that there is no steps or ladder for entering and exiting the pool. The villa as really out of the way. You do need transportation. The kitchen is really basic with not enough cooking utensils to prepare meals so transportation is necessary. But on the other side, all efforts were made to assist with transportation. Thank you Eric and Surya for a holiday that was everything I expected. Made was very helpful.
Just had two nights in Padang Bai. On the arrival day Made was not available (email and mobile) so we had to find it on our own which was difficult. Made and the housekeeping girl came, handed over keys and Made helped with the scooter. The house is outside Padang Bai, quite and looked like shown on the pictures but more used (especially bathroom and kitchen with many ants).
The pool was nice but I missed the possibility to sit in the sun.
We loved staying in the green house! Was a bit more remote then we realized from description and didn't have wifi which was okay/ enjoyable but I believe it says there is wifi in the description. The house and property itself are so nice though, very pleasantly surprised. Made was so so accommodating, driving us to the grocery store and airport himself and being very helpful. Thanks for a very lovely stay in the jungle!
We're happy that you loved stay at the Green House and especially happy that you mentioned our super manager, Made, who tries to treat our guests like family. As for the wifi, it's just not available outside of town in these parts of Bali. Our description says we have "internet" that works with a USB modem, or an inexpensive data package for those with iPads. Made can help with this too.
The Green House and the White House are two comfortable apartments - each with a big bedroom, AC, bathroom, kitchen and a porch with hammocks - both under one big roof.
The White House has one double bed and the Green House two single beds.
The pool is a great refresher after the 20 minutes walk from Padangbai Ferry-Terminal.
The place is great for relaxing!
Made is a nice guy - he collected us at the ferry by Scooter and showed us around.
We had a a very short stay at the white house. It's secret for sure as the location is really quiet and calm in the middle of the village.
The sideboard was a bit musty and needed good ventilation.
Fantastic place and simply loved it. Was greeted and drove to the villa from the airport by the villa manager - Made. He is a very very courteous and helpful person. He had made sure my every need was met. He came by every morning, to greet me and to check if everything is well and if I have everything I need.
The place was superbly clean. There were some basic toiletries and some utensils for my usage if I wanted to have some meals back at the villa. I totally enjoyed my stay there lounging in the veranda and taking a dip in the pool. Having lunch by the gazebo next to the pool was so serene and beautiful. The neighborhood where the villa is located is quite quiet besides for the sounds of the critters in the forest and plantations. The beds were clean and well kept and there was staff that comes to clean the place each day.
Made also informed me that there are some extra services also offered to the guests of the villa such as a cook to make my meals throughout my stay, scooter services, tour services and etc for a small fee for whichever service I choose.
I rented a scooter from Made to travel to and fro to the beaches, the town and other surrounding areas. The villa is close to the town and you could walk to it if you would like to enjoy the lush greeenery from the villa to the town.
I completely enjoyed my time at Eric & Surya's villa. I had such a relaxing and refreshing time at the villa. Made is an excellent manager which made my trip so much better and I didn't have to worry about anything while I enjoyed my stay. I highly recommend staying here to anyone who wants to have a nice quiet joyful trip staying at a villa that is simply gorgeous and just getting recharged before heading back to the real world. I'm sure you will enjoy your time in the town with locals buzzing around and greeting you with smiles as you engage with them. Its completely different from Kuta where it gets so packed with tourists that you lose the beauty of seeing the way of life in Bali for how it should be seen.
Definitely will be back again.
